this story house has seen some of the games great BOS Bradford Peterson and Stoops welcome everyone to Norman Oklahoma and the palace on the Prairie Home to the Oklahoma Sooners today we have one of those games that test your focus top 25 team against an unranked opponent can you take care of business as we'll see a squad from the AAC the tempo out taking on the 14th ranked team in the land the Oklahoma Sooners for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started and the Sooners will get us underway with the opening kickoff looking for those Open Spaces an opportunity nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 so temples offense takes the field for the first time today and here's the man they rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it and he's done it at such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the big moments and he's won the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line I know the passing game sells and the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards a pop on the ground but it will be very successful Temple lines up quickly Smith takes the hand off tripped up at the 25 after picking up four I think you run that play on second down knowing it's going to make third down EAS not trying to hit a home run you don't need the big play right now now you know third down everything's on the table everything's available High success R this crowd full throat splitting the eard drums and letting them know it's going to be a long day now the play fake fires to the wide out just a bit of a misfire there as they can't make the connection third and short like that on your own side of the field you're just looking for a quick H you're trying to get the ball out of your hand quickly but the timing completely off there for the offense and the ball Falls incomplete Tempo lining up to ped away they'll have to punt for the first time this [Applause] afternoon he gets a block he'll get it up to about the 44 yd line before they slam the brakes on him the Sooners offense headed onto the field our first look at them today here are impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching stabs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys of the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed got eight on first down looking at a second and [Applause] two hand off from the gun fakes his man out brought down at the 39 after a pick up of 10 it'll be a first down really nice run this guy brings balance to this offense it's not all highflying aerial passing attack too you go back to Adrien Peterson DeMarco Murray samaj perine they've always had guys in thee set up Temple offenses that have been able to give them balance and force the defense to stay honest that's exactly what this guy brings the sooner offense got his man quickly and how about the efficiency on that one it'll bring up second and four I really like this slot receiver because of his shiftiness and you see that on his route run really really nice job creating separation for his QB that last completion sets him up on second down down leaves it with the back plows ahead for a pick up of one to the 32 the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say country when they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big boys On The Run it's Arnold and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up got to give the defense credit on that play taking everything away forcing the incompletion now it's decision time fourth and short in your in field goal range what do you do here here comes the field goal unit and very important not only to generate power but to find his Mark a 49y from the left and this one splits the uprights and the first points of the day come on that field goal this is a team that really Prides themselves on starting fast we've seen that before and here they are playing at home today nice job on the opening drive lots of poise good emotion they don't get the touchdown they would have liked but they kick a nice field goal they've got the lead the coach has to be happy with that he'll start the return inside five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Temple takes over and the offense will return to the field feeling some heat nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry that's a great play by the defensive end the best athletes on the field play defensive end you can ask anybody yes I agree Jesse ree see they agree with me same thing but you watch them get off the football make the play that's why you put your athletes there they've got him PN deep in their own end and this crowd trying to help keep him there he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well they're trying to get that run play going to the outside but it's the defensive end who does a great job winning his one-on-one and forcing the negative play backing up and backing up on the first two plays now to try to throw it in drive on third down looking to throw and he needs a bunch they're setting up the screen smashes through the tackle he's finally guided out of bounds and even with that kind of pick up they are still short of the first down they didn't quite get that route run deep enough to pick up the first down now they've got a fourth in ch and I think everybody at home tends to yell at their television set why aren't you getting past the first down marker why did you run your route short defense did a good job knowing where that was but now fourth down has to make a decision and the punt team gets down there and gets the Return Man On The Ground guys we'll get another look at this Oklahoma offense they've got the lead here last time they settled for a field goal but David got to find that balance between being aggressive and careful and I think they'll take that I got the lead Palmer I got the football I got to take care of the football put a nice drive together and just get some kind of points on this drive no doubt lots to be happy about right now if you're this team I think for this one though on this drive it's about finding the one-on-one matchups that are in your favor and then exploiting them it's reverse they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it is so easy when you're a defensive player when you watch a little misdirection where the ball go one way to turn and to run that's not my job my job is to stay home the defense have did a good job of that defense stayed home made the play the Sooners want to move quickly looking down field it's Arnold good timing on the quick out he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down when you're a playmaker like this guy is your coaches are going to dial up plays intended For You especially on third down that's what you saw in that last play there was no question where the quarterback was going with that football all week long they decided on the biggest Downs of this game we're going to Target our best player and we're going to make sure that he gets looks it doesn't matter what the coverage is and you saw it right there on that a strike down field that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the Stop and a really good job by quart back being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive gain I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times today the Sooners are moving quickly down the field quarterback on the keeper he bullies his way all the way down to the 5 yd line yeah and half of the QB calls his own number and these obviously multiple plays he decides to stick with it get some positive yards and and now what's next off of that what's my next read off of that how am I going to mix things up and keep this defense off balance operating in the Red Zone here on second down he's looking to throw floating away and he's sprinting he'll take it all the way touch down Oklahoma this guy is so slippery so elusive he just vaporizes right in front of the defense that's crazy you can play Touch football in the elevator and lose to this game he's that kind of quick lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they punctuated it with the 5yd touchdown run the kickoff team out there and ready to [Applause] go on the move from inside his five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Temple takes over and the owl will send the offense back onto the field boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah and the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here oppent yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive the incompletion leads to Second and 10 the give out of the gun that'll be a gain of about seven leaves him with third and three and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his pads Temple lines up quickly they'll try to run for it and they did not let him reach the line gain it'll bring up a decision here this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last play Tempo lining up to PL it away he's going to try to flip the field with this one he'll settle for some pretty good field position and make the fair catch at around the 35 here comes the sooner offense back onto the field gets it out fast they got him free for a big Gainer to the 43 and this passing game has him calling Boomer and answering sooner again and they're starting to get this crowd jacked up and this crowd red up and listen they love their team and dude think about all the success Oklahoma has had over the years different casts of characters but one thing they always have offensive success CAU in the back field it's Anthony and they pick up just a few on that completion and offenses nowadays they're really just counting numbers how many guys do you have out wide how many guys do I have out wide if I have enough guys to block your guys just built into the offense pitch catch let me get a few yards Tempo and overdrive they'll run it out of the shotgun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three they tried to get the defense going the wrong way with the counter but nothing doing aggressive defense attacking defense you want to hit them with those counters but it wasn't success this play defensive line linebackers everybody's doubting they see what's going on they diagnose it go downhill hit him right in the middle of the field looking for a man it's Arnold and the Miss connection on third down and third and long everybody is pinning their ears back and coming after the quarterback you try to throw screens behind those sometimes they're very successful but this time defense played it great and the play went nowhere and the Sooners will line up to punt it away first punt of the day and he' love to lock him up close to their goal line how about this it's out of bounds inside the 10 and they're going to mark it right around the 5 yd line what a great job there dude how about that boom I mean you talk about power that dude just booted that thing halfway across the field completely flipping the field position and getting down inside the 10 that is a nice job by that punter that is exactly what you want from your offense create some space Get Out of The Shadow of Your Own in zone Palmer and make it easier on this offense yeah it's nice when you have a running back like that too that can create that space for you now if you're the play caller your entire Playbook is wide open off the play fake on first down to throw caught on the outside it's car and there's going to be a loss on that play just run out of bounds and avoiding the contact Temple lines up quickly here's the hand off he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple goodness that happened fast he was in the back before the ball was even snapped oh man adrenaline pumping heartbeating a little faster there is some intensity on that one Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down back to throw it's Brock got his and he'll have enough for the first down at the 42 hard work pays off Guys these offenses work so hard week in week out working on those down in distances third downs and having that conversion this early in the game that's got to feel good for this offense this Temple offense putting together a nice [Applause] drive he'll come out throwing on first down complete to the left and a big gain there he's knocked down immediately at the 45 curl route seems simple but when you time it like that so it's right on him man that's a tough play to stop and give the receiver a lot of credit too because he knew where the sticks were he got his depth on the route and then he came back to the football all young receivers can learn from this guy right here come back to the ball and help your quarterback out running back goes in motion looking to move it through the air deep shot for the end zone and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity offensive players know where the ball is going defensive players don't great job by the DB adjusting to the football seeing it playing the wide receiver and making sure he can't catch the football and here comes play number six of the drive fast motion from the offense quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that looks as if we have an injury on that last and we'll take a break to check him out they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here it's a draw strong running there going to pick up seven yards on the play but they still have a fourth and three and they're going to head out the lineup for a field goal everything will have to be clean from 55 yd away oh he missed it no good a Miss field goal leaves us with a double digit game still sitting at 10 now the Oklahoma offense will go back to work they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one and David to me that starts with being the more physical team I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the ball back now put a nice drive together and execute the Sooners headed quickly to the line back to throw it's Arnold he's got an open man the express way is wide open and he got away from the defense and takes it in touchdown sooner and this offense is clicking another touchdown didn't have to go far for this drive but this offense is doing what they want how they want when they want [Applause] now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead this offense Prides itself on going after you and they did with that long touchdown pass to finish off a two-play drive just about ready to kick it [Applause] away here's the return from inside is 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Temple takes over and the offense will return to the field looking for a gap it's Cruz to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing all right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah and it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense he'll pull it on the read and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play really nice job by the defense shutting down all the options don't let him get into his reading phase go get him right now play sound and more importantly tackle him and get him on the ground now facing a third and long now they'll run the draw and the defense knew exactly where that first down line was and they stopped him short Tempo lining up to punt it away fourth time tonight we've seen this guy come on to [Applause] punt looking for a block it's Bowen they'll put a stop to that return at about the 37 yd line time for this sooner offense to go back to work they'll give it to the back and a really short game before he gets a whole bunch of company from the defense we reached a quarter break with Oklahoma on top they wanted to strike first and strike hard and they've been able to do that here in the first quarter as we take a look at the stats this could be a pivotal moment in this game as we open the second period and they try to find a way to answer and he really needed to hold on to that one but it was not loose and third down is coming well this defense knew coming in they were going to see some RPL and they were going to see some quick game and nice job there taking the throw away from the quarterback here they come facing third and long from the 40 to the air it's Arnold keeps looking down and he can't find a receiver and down he goes this defense needed something to go right man they're down big already in the first half get to the quarterback get them on the ground this could start some momentum going back the other direction the ERS will call on their punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away no return coming he'll call for the fair catch Temple takes over and the ow will send the offense back onto the field they just haven't been able to get anything going and they better get started or it's going to get away from them David yeah and these are the weeks that you really wish that you were playing a video game and you could just reset the console over Jesse and make something better happen early they just look like they're sleepwalking in this first half and it's not just one guy they they just haven't been playing collectively as a unit and if I'm the head coach I'm considering starting to give some other dudes some chances here they'll keep it on the ground at the 35 he's open what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down and running backs are so good so talented so elusive you see they really have the ability to make you miss run you over unbelievable effort nice job you keep that going it going to be hard to stop Temple lines up quickly motion from the offense give to the running back discards a man and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knock backs and limiting his carries got three on first down it's second and seven they'll go to the ground able to pick his way forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down I I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards make him honor the Run make them know that you're willing to run the football ball and run it effectively third and short coming here right from the Midfield strike and that Ball's free behind the line picks up the ball and tries to make something of it man and this is why you practice Five Points of pressure with the football you cannot put the ball on the ground doesn't matter how many Defenders are around you or how hard you get hit you cannot turn the football over and expect to win games Tempo lining up to punt it away and may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today yet another punt on the way got to make sure that hamstring stays loose he's been busy slips through the line man oh man did that coverage team have it hands full well well not full because they didn't get a hand on him for quite a while great return there the give to the back he's there to make the stop great job by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic and that's exactly what happened got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 he'll run it again nice solid form tackle from this sophomore the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long you saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum third and long and he'll try to throw for it the short hands it's Anderson and good coverage by the defense just a short gain nice Patience by the quarterback here working against Zone coverage he was allowing his receiver an opportunity to find that open space in the defense before pulling the trigger and the Sooners line up to punt it away he'll try to really get into this one and the punt will hit at the seven and they can't Coral it it goes into the end zone it'll come out to the 20 give to the back stopped at the 25 after a five yd gain it's going to be important this offensive line as able to get a little bit of push you just got to give this guy an inch a little crease and he can make yards for it Temple lines up quickly wide receiver coming across in motion touch pass on the Jet Sweep he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play really good job by the defense seeing it and going and getting it nice job understanding the touch pass it could happen those guys go Motion man I got to understand safety's got to see that start flying down getting ready to play that nice job by the defense being ready for that play trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions Tempo lining up to pun it away they're up to a half dozen kicks today on the return it's Bo working his way on the return up to the 40 yd line before he stopped here comes the Oklahoma offense they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few Personnel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen yet after picking up a couple at second and eight from the shotgun now here's an inside GI continuing to turn and move it forward and they're closing in on Midfield it's down at the 48 just a simple power play power football be strong be big be physical make it a fourth quarter game make them feel you keep him off balance after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down to the ground to try to move the chains they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football the Sooners will punt this one away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's tonight and the punt goes out of bounds we'll check the spot think they'll have it right around the 40 yd Line Temple takes over and the offense will return to the field they've gotten nothing done so far and they already find themselves in a three possession hole Jesse yeah and as a head coach you're wondering what didn't I say what didn't I do to get my team ready to go because we look like we're sleepwalking at this point yeah nothing went well in the first quarter you just say refresh like let's try to find a way now chip into this lead try to make it somewhat manageable when you get to the half dropping back it's Brock finds his big tight end they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks a nice job by the defense they tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do from the gun wants to pass and it just squirted through his hands he wanted to take off and got too anxious and money down is where you see defenses really understand where the sticks are play great pass defense know what's coming and get off the field Tempo lining up to punt it away running it back it's Bowen they'll get down and put a stop to the return at about the 28 yd line the sooner offense returns to the field their Drive chart is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this offense needs to get their heads out of there you know what the punter's on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they've got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get the quarterback men they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete that last incomplete pass has him staring at a third and three looking to throw it's Arnold he's got his man major gaps in that defense and he got loose and they finally knock him down at the 41 well we know this guy is special and because of that his back is looking to him on critical down and distances there on that third down there was no question it wouldn't have mattered if he was single covered double covered man Zone that's where he was going with it and the Big Time playmaker outside picks up the first and a nice run there before the defense finally makes the stop you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense the Sooners in the hurry up out of the shotgun they go to the ground really nice run there good solid pick up and they'll move the sticks with a first down you ain't getting by all these guys right up the middle unless your off line and your tight ends and everybody is putting in the work up front committing to blocking the running back does a great job finding the hole exploding through how about that nice big huge game if I'm the OC let's call that one again not in locked step there with the receiver I love the quick decision that QB made there on that RPO knowing he wanted to get it out of his hands fast he just needs to make a more accurate throw moving forward second down after that incompletion he's looking to throw can't make the grab as he was going for six right there you simply don't see that very often a quarterback of this guy's caliber missing a guy wide open in the end zone he makes those throws in his sleep they were on the move but two straight incompletions had them staring at third and 10 looking for a man it's Arnold throws to the wide out he makes a catch they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down and it's nice to have guys like this on third down on money Downs that you can go to and you know he's going to win hit the gas hit the brakes create a little bit of Separation nice job and the Sooners have it with a first and 10 they just keep throwing it makes the catch they go up top to get it down to the 5 yd line as they try to pay off this drive Hey listen on offense just take what the defense gives you quarterback looks out wide he sees the DB way off of the receiver throw the easy hitch pass you'll take that completion going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down he's looking to throw he snares it in the end zone touchdown [Music] Oklahoma that dude's really big how in the world did they lose him cuz down here he does a lot of blocking and you play a lot of man coverage in the red zone and what do you do you peek in the back field and you lose the big I don't know how he lost that big of a guy but he lost a they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further so it's a 73 yd touchdown drive and the score comes on a 5yd touchdown pass the kickoff unit about to go to [Applause] work on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 takes over and the owl will send the offense back onto the field they face a pretty tall mountain here Jesse down 24 but if they're going to clim it this is a good time to start sense of urgency has got to be big right here you just get the feeling at this point of the game David they've got to score on this drive obviously their defense needs to get stops but at this point offensively they've got to execute much better they they got to be super aggressive down 24 you're going to need three touchdowns three two-point conversions everything to kind of go your way so fast and throwing in the football fires to the middle and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep the defense was obviously ready for that play they've obviously been watching film they know that that pass play is one of the bread and butter plays this offense has so nice job defending so they're facing third and short from the 25 they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker he's knocked down in the back field he lose a couple defense is about firing off hitting the offensive guys and staying in your gaps everybody knowing where they're supposed to be you could tell the defense everyone was right where they're supposed to be nowhere to run Tempo lining up to pun it away makes a move dances away again very will make a crowd hold its breath like a part return and he brought them to their feet on that one to the air it's Arnold finds his big tight end look you can't take away everything right so you give them that and rally and make a solid tack yeah and a lot of times in zone coverage I like when I can get all the eyes on the quarterback I like when I can see the routes and see them develop in the middle and you could tell they had keys on the tight end he wasn't going anywhere caught that football hand off from the shotgun hard running there stopped just inside the 25 will mark it at the 24 pick up of 10 and the first down as we reach the two-minute warning they'll need to try to get a stop to keep this thing from getting out of hand inside the 25 they'll snap it from the 24 first down they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw they're strong and they're strong defensive tackles they're strong there's such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground pretty quickly on second down wants to throw it starting to feel a little pressure on the run and he'll slide to avoid the big hit job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nowhere for the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive the Sooners are in the Red Zone he's looking to throw on Third and short excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away well on Third and short in field goal range they dial up the pass play quarterback was trying to get through his progressions there was just simply nobody open couldn't make an accurate enough throw ball Falls incomplete Now setting up a big decision here on fourth down they'll try to put three on the board as a field goal unit comes on never a doubt right down the middle and now the lead is even bigger so they get the field goal now about to kick it away and you get a stop here and you go to halftime feeling really good about things he'll bring it back from inside his spot he was looking for more Running Room but to be found as he stopped at the 23 Temple takes over and the offense will return to the field this late in the half you're behind you'd love to create something before the break to build momentum Jesse but you've also had some miscues on offense a big part of why you're losing the game right now I'd take it into halftime make my adjustments and come out ready in the second half yeah I'm going to take it in halftime too PA but I'm trying to put some points up right here be aggressive set the tone be like Hey listen this is what you're going to get in the second half so find really quickly you can go to there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer let's see what they've got on second down back to pass it's Brock the throw to the outside is complete he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down I'll tell you QBs and receivers they practice these out routes all week long and you've got to anti ipate you've got to be comfortable throwing it before he gets out of his break and they executed it perfectly right there to pick up that first going up top on first down grabbed behind the line it's Cruz and he is going to lose yardage nowhere to run as he is forced out of bounds this offense has a second down play he's looking to throw he finds his man boy that was a Precision play all the way around throw catch tackle bang bang bang this will likely be the last play of the half they'll use a timeout right before half maybe time for one or two more plays and it's third down but they're going to go ahead and try the field goal and try to get the middle but that he also has the Jets to burn these DBS on the Deep ball if this defense wants to actually come back in this one they better hide his cleats with that said let's send it back to the guys at Memorial Stadium Temple will try to boot this one deep to get the second half underway and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 so Oklahoma has it again and here comes the offense he'll start this third quarter with a run nice move to stay on his feet and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play and listen if it ain't broke don't fix it I I mean I love teams that commit to the run and when it's successful keep running the rock yeah David I I think this offensive line right now they've got a lather going they're really sort of getting in the groove and flow of this game they're just getting tremendous push at the point of attack it seems like every single time they decide to run the ball and he unleashed the RPMs on that pass man this sophomore has an arm and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down looking for a physical attack from the gun he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple nice play by the defense but now is a time they've got to be more consistent they allowed this running back to go off in that first half and moving forward now they've got to try and take this running back away after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one maybe that stop is a good sign for this defense maybe the defense is starting to figure it out obviously offense has been running the football with so much success something has to change that was a good start the D thinking bring some heat on Third and long from the 44 four dropping back it's Arnold unloads to the wide out he's got it they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all [Applause] about so they'll decline the pass interference penalty and the results of the play will stand he's going to pass caught over the middle it's Robert brought down at the 26 yd line after a pick up of 10 yd on the play and it'll be a first down these routs have some reads and adaptability built in and the big fella found that cushion and made the play man it's so awesome how much offenses have evolved they know exactly what they're getting where to sit down quarterback tight end on the same page gets the first down pass rush coming after the quarterback and they get him at the 32 this defense they are tenacious and they've got guys up front that are athletic and that are so strong and they can collapse the pocket you saw it right there in that play action attempt big loss on the last play threatens to knock this drive off course it's second and 16 to throw getting some heat just had to get rid of that one good job to fight another play this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field on Third and long a check down would be the last resort and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop you got to love that on defense one of the most critical statistics out there is how do you play on third down how do you prevent the opponent from keeping drives alive right there tackling the catch you gave up the completion whoopy do you set up fourth and long you're going to get the ball back go get some water and cell it didn't make him sweat at all it's good and now the leaves extended a little far they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work here he comes inside his own five and the Return Man is stopped and that'll leave it up to the offense on the next Drive Temple takes over and the owls send the offense back onto the field from the gun the running back has it solid gain to get him out close to the 20 pick up of five to the 19 football is about adjustments first half line up pound strong pound strong second half great job you're going to move your defense and shift to try to account for that boom we'll pull some and run a counter back side and have some success halfway there on first down it's second and five he'll keep it himself picks up the first down he's brought down at the 29 after a 10y gain this quarterback is so dangerous and it looked like the defense had him coralled it looked like they were ready for him to keep the football but that quarterback is just too good he's like a water bug so good short area quickness able to make guys miss then go get the first out of the gun to give to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one that back had nowhere to go defensive line AE up the blocks but how about the linebacker swarming in coming in and making a great play on the ball car lost one on that last one it's second and 11 looking to throw it's Brock and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical matchup there third down coming they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one trying to move the sticks on third down through the air they've got the screen set up they make the stop but not before the screen has hit him for a first down and much more really good execution by this offense and there you go you see you don't have to throw bombs to get big plays in the passing game just screen it to your running back as soon as he catches it he gets up field and how about the downfield blocking by these linemen and the wide receivers as they rip off that explosive play able to SC three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven you know it's so important for offens is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven he's looking to throw makes the grab it's right russle to the ground after picking up the first down slant routes they're good against man coverage but they're good against Zone coverage too if that receiv can the soft spot between the linebacker and the DB you'll take that throw all day this offense hasn't found the end zone yet starting to move it's first and 10 he'll do it himself really good surge for this offense they move the chains and he's got it at the 34 what a really nice job of the offense mixing it up on this drive we've seen some nice plays throwing it and how about that one running it to great push up front and the owls have it with a first and 10 from the gun give on the inside squeezes out a couple of yards down to the 32 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first picked up two yards on that last when they need eight on second down they'll try the Run got enough for the first brought down just outside the Red Zone he moves the change it's at the 22 I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the D line they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first from the two on First and 10 using his legs it's Cruz they make the stop after a pick up of three just inside the red zone at the 19 got three on first down it's second and seven leaves it with the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense just outside the red zone at the 21 but it's third and long to throw it's Brock quickly complete and he's not going going to make it the defense denying him the first down they' H to be able to pick up enough after the catch but a good stop leaves him with a fourth and short really good job by the defense being physical understanding the situation in the game the ball's going to come out quick you know that go make the tackle Force the fourth down the give on fourth down they stop him short of the marker and they'll turn it over on down here's this off with fresh set of downs hey if you're going to go for it on fourth down and you decide to run the football you've got to be sure up front that you're going to win The Trenches they didn't get it done that time they need to be more physical moving forward they're going to try to do that again in the same type of situation in this game yeah and listen the offense has had their way and they've had so much success and so much production but listen at least the defense got a rep you know maybe this gets you some a spark maybe this gets you some energy maybe we'll see a little bit more life from this defense yeah they may not win the game but I think this defensive coaching staff at this point based on how this game has gone they're just trying to find things to build off of maybe that's something they can point to as they get ready for their next opponent of things they did right things that they got to do more consistently moving forward they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 got it in the middle it's Anthony he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down nice job by the quarterback there throwing the hitch route against Zone coverage you can't stare at him if you do that then you allow the flat Defender to get underneath it and that might be a pick six so really good job by the quarterback there using his eyes to manipulate the defense from the gun they'll try to impose their will the Sooners have a first down and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark and the Sooners are flying down the field caught in the back field it's Roberts and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few you know tight ends are such matchup nightmares and problems for defense they're too big for DBS to cover and they're too fast for linebackers to cover you saw it right there went to the running game on first down now second down quarterback on the keeper they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one really really nice football play man I got to understand option football I got to play my responsibility make sure that I know what I'm doing look at the linebacker great job stop doing that staying patient getting to the quarterback making the big tackle a third and long coming up here to the air it's Arnold going for it all and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down well the defender got his hand on that one tipped it up in the air and offense man they're lucky that one wasn't picked the Sooners will bring the punt team onto the field they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today he'll get away another punt he's been really active today and no doubt he's going to earn his varsity letter and that one will be down just about at the spot where it [Applause] landed the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty here's a quick throw out to the left and the defense coming with bad intentions they knock him down for a loss me getting suffocated right away how about the DB just seeing that initially pulling the trigger getting to him get him on the ground get the tackle for a loss they've got a solid Drive working but now looking at second and 11 on the run it's up they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one great job by the defense everybody firing off the ball hitting their guys holding their gaps running to the football nowhere to go ninth play of the drive coming up but this one will be tough third and long wants to go up top using the back as a receiver on the screen they play that screen nicely he tried find his way to the marker but it'll be fourth down he just didn't have a chance to get loose and make his way to that first down marker and I think fans get upset sometimes like run your route past the sticks so we get the first down but nice job by the defense understanding where the sticks were and forcing the fourth down never a doubt for this bigoted guy 49 yd field goal is good that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running he'll bring it out it's Joon I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 they'll leave it with the lone back and how about that play by that giant that mountain of a man on the defensive front you got to have that defense you know you can go to in running situations your base defense where you say okay this is where I'm going to start and I'm going to stop the run stuff it up front my guys play Big up front then if I need to add some blitzes to later on down the road I can a great job in the base defense making a play got a man it's Smith and that defense is there to guide him out of bounds after a short game listen running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of the back field getting him the football letting them get some positive yards third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off scanning the field it's Rock oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down well after struggling so much in the first half you thought they would have made some adjustments here at halftime to see if they can open up this passing game but early on in the second half you're just not really able to get that done incompletion on third down in your own end you're expecting them to punt fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way on the return it's Bowen return turn's going to get it up around Midfield he'll be down at the 49 yd line here come the Sooners ready to go on offense they kicked a field goal on the last Drive Jesse they've got the lead don't make a dumb mistake but maintain your aggressive play calling yeah no doubt I think it's the play caller right now just taking a look at that script he's got in front of him and finding out where are my Playmakers who can we take advantage of on this defense to get a touchdown here David yeah and just keep moving the ball down the field will just execute a little bit better in the Red Zone there's no need to panic we're moving the football and we got the lead worked his way to the 38 before they stopped him it's a 5 yd gain and that'll be a first down offensively are you going to take four to six every play yes please sign me up for that I'm going to take that every single time great job by the offense staying patient staying true to who they are you want to run the football you want to be physical you want to establish yourself check check check he'll pull it on the [Music] read all the way down to the 25 yine Mo the s first we reach the quarter break with Oklahoma on top this has been a complete obliteration so far as the third quarter stats will show you so will the beat down continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the fourth off the play fake on first down wants to throw steps away and the quarterback bought some time but not down he goes with a sack I like the defense there and their mentality after getting gashed on the ground they just turn the page and they generate the pass rush the very next play a first down sack can be a drive killer now it's second and 13 they move the the tight end all over power football with the Run shakes off a tackler he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one from the gun running back on the move and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker and they'll send out the kicker to try a field goal and this will be a 41 y coming up from the right side absolutely perfect well that's just piling off not the penalty kind just the mean they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again he'll start the return inside his spot not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Temple takes over and the offense will return to the field last time David it was one two three kick yeah last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable that last stri they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels that completion leaves us with second and medium back to pass it's Brock and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one fairly manageable distance here on third down from the 27 they'll run the screen he steps out of bounds but he's got enough for a first down well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression the owls will snap it on First and 10 looking to throw it again he looks that one in nicely this offense has their work cut out for him man because the coverage has been so tight and if you're not throwing to the sideline or you're not getting past the sticks this defense is going to tackle you inbounds like they just did on that last play and bleed the clock and now on second down for this offense he's looking to throw got his man on the right they'll stop him at the 46 after a 5yd pickup they've done a really good job creating the matchups they want out of the slot yeah dude get that guy matched up on a linebacker that guy matched up on a safety keep him away from the corners by putting him in the slot get him the football let him make plays trying to find his man on first down and it's inom complet you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage they'll line up for a second down play couldn't connect on first down now back to the air he's got it down the middle he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down you just get the feeling this defense is going to make it hard on them right they've got the lead it's late and they're going to try to tackle everybody in bounds offense is going to have to really work for this and be smart you got to attack the sidelines you got to throw first downs you got to keep this thing moving vertically down the field they'll throw it to the back on the screen he steps out of bounds but he's got a first down on the play well a nice Gainer on that running back screen how about the offensive line getting down Feld and getting blocks to really help out the back find some space to go to work offense lines up for a first and 10 from the 43 he wants to throw going to try to pop one on the screen and they're going to lose yardage there the defense completely owning to front the defense sniffed that screen out perfectly all the D linan they were reading the body Lang of the offensive line they knew something was up and when the screen pass got thrown they were right there to make the tackle they've got a solid Drive working but now looking at second and 11 looking to pass it's Brock finds a tight end and that defense doesn't allow a cut back and they get him out of bounds after a short gain I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job form tackle on Third and long try to convert through the air just threw that one away to avoid disaster the offense came into this game knowing that for them to win they were going to have to make some big plays throwing the football that just has not been the case here in the fourth quarter they've been held to less than 200 passing yards and that's really the story of the game guys down in the fourth quarter it's too late for for empty possessions they'll go for it on fourth down trying to get to it they got him it's a sack and what a stop for this defense to turn it over on Downs well I love the play call by the defense there on fourth down they were expecting pass they didn't decide to just lay back and play zone coverage they were going to dial up the pressure they bring the Blitz and they just overwhelmed the offensive line and anyone else trying to protect that quarterback he had no shot the offense set for a first down play from the gun he leaves it with the back it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven going to run it it's a Chuck makes it pass to marker brought down to the ground but he has enough for the first down I think a big key in this team's success today has been their ability to run the football they've been able to just hand it off and go churn out yards they've had this defense on their heels all game long it's given them a big cushion in this game so far let's see if they can keep it up they'll put the tight end in motion they go to the ground and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down and how good does that feel right you've got the lead in the fourth quarter the defense knows you're going to try to run the ball to ice the game and you rip off an eight yd run they know it's coming and they still can't stop it eight- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short he'll keep it himself he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and that option game can be tricky right but nice job by the defense playing assignment football and watch the linebacker you could tell locked in on the quarterback chases him down gets to him and not only gets to him doesn't let him break a tackle gets him on the ground wide outs all wated up in a bunch unloads quickly he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty offense breaks the Huddle on third down the playaction fake going to let it fly and they wanted it all on third down but now dealing with fourth down I tell you what I don't know if the offense was expecting man coverage that time third and long in field goal Ranger expecting it to be Zone instead they lock him up manto man everybody on an island everybody one they get the incompletion Now setting up fourth the Sooners will try to pin them back with the punt they may have to pay him over time he's punting for the fifth time today the offense lining up for a first down play dropping back it's Brock and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down well the defense really stepped up in this game they knew they had to slow down this passing attack they knew they had some matchups they were going to have to win one-on-one they've been able to do that and as a result they haven't allowed 200 passing yards in this game line getting set on second down after the incompletion back to the passing game got his Man Down field and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one the offense has struggled they're not going to win this game but trust me this coaching staff is still trying trying to find things to build off of for next week and after an explosive play like that maybe they can generate just a little bit of momentum and gain a little bit of confidence that they can keep coaching up heading into their next game makes the grab on the left and he's going to lose yardage he was looking everywhere for just a little grass and a little air and none to be found offense gets set for second down he's looking to throw he got a hand in there knocks it away incomplete and it's just been that kind of day for this quarterback in this offense guys they have never been able to get into a rhythm throwing the football timing's been off accuracy hasn't been great we've seen some drops just not in sync that's why they find themselves trailing by a lot right here late in the game on Third and long trying to have a big completion here the Freshman able to get home with the sack how about this defense no mercy like listen I know we're up big but they are still hunting still flying around still chasing still making life really miserable for this offense down by multiple possessions you can't come up empty on this drive they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down and it's intercepted a turnover from the defense didn't really get a chance to get started on that return but he has set him up at the 41 yd line and that's a really good job by the defense understanding the situation of football it's fourth down it's late the game a multi possession lead take away all the Deep stuff make them Force the football into coverage they do and they stamp this game guys we'll get another look at this Oklahoma offense after a punt on their last possession they are set up in plus territory this time and honestly it wouldn't have mattered if they scored a touchdown their last possession you've got to be able to turn the page and see this as a brand new opportunity to go get points yeah and your defense has set you up for a position to get points right way now let's get this offense back rolling again create some momentum just get a few first downs and I'm in scoring position they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 on the move it's Arnold working the middle it's complete draged down to the turf but not before getting the first down this is a very tough slot receiver to cover if you're a linebacker because of how quick and how Shifty he is you never seem to know which way he's going and he always seems to create an open space for his QB they throw it on first down pulls it in it's auk they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down hey guys this running back's not just catching check Downs or swing routes you can get him vertically down the field and let him go to work especially when you get man coverage take advantage after the first down completion it's second and short it's a reverse and he's able to bounce off one tackle but still not a whole lot of running room already in Chip Shot field goal range at the 21 but this third and short they're still thinking touchdown they'll try to bulli their way for the first he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and the defense is going to have to have more plays like that he has had a ball game so far running wild all day long defense finally comes up with the stop maybe get a little momentum here over 100 yards already in this game so if I'm on defense here I'm adding more guys to the Box anticipating that they're going to continue to give this guy touches today it's good easy call for the refs and that'll add three for to a lead that is already way out of hand he keep pushing that lead out in the kickoff teams getting some work on the move from inside is five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Temple takes over and the owl will send the offense back onto the field all kinds of room to throw that one in there and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play yeah and you see some quarterbacks who hesitate to throw the ball the middle love it when you attack the whole field and the middle of the field and being able to throw over linebackers and between safeties is a big skill but show that defense you're you will attack everywhere they came out hot on this drive one play and already near Midfield looking downfield it's Brock and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down this defense has just been all over this guy all game long Under Pressure they're finding a way to get to him an effect his rhythm of course they have an interception in this game that's why they've got a big lead here in the fourth quarter this guy has never gotten into a rhythm clock is under four minutes as they come to the line for second down Zing it complete to the right and it'll be a pick up of nine they're facing a third and one he's just winning that match up in the slot every time and when you put him in the slot he's closer to the quarterback it's an easier throw we can run in we can run out and really take advantage of his versatility of the guy that slot position offense breaks the Huddle it's third down they'll try to get it through the air gets it out quickly really confident throw and catch there big pick up and they have a first down it's tough on the defense they third down you're in zone coverage everybody's watching the quarterback and you're trying to make a break on the ball but just got it out of his hands too quickly and the throw was too accurate really nothing you can do there and it's now a fresh set of downs this Temple offense putting together a nice drive he'll just keep slinging it and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming you see an incompletion there I think a big reason why this team is in such a hole right now in the fourth quarter is they have just not been able to find the explosive plays throwing the ball and you got to wonder at this point is it too little too late now on second down they'll throw again after the incompletion this time it's complete they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out Temple looking for a touchdown from the Red Zone on Third and short trying to oppose their will and move the chains he'll be stopped short picks up one but they're facing fourth and one looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out coach has no choice here the offense has to stay on the field down multiple possessions this late fourth down attempt coming just man enough for the first well they just drained all the suspense out of the fourth down conversion moving to easily I think the defense was even caught off guard on that one guys not seeing the field goal unit Trot out onto the field they had a golden opportunity there to make a stop and get the ball back without surrendering any points they couldn't do it though and now all of a sudden their backs are against the wall direct snap and he is swarmed under a host of Defenders there to make the stop second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning two minutes now left in this one and time is running short if they want to find a way to pull this one out can the defense stop them again on second and goal to the air it's Brock and it's caught for a touchdown they're going to play this one through to the end but this is pretty much window dressing yeah nice pitch nice catch and listen maybe this helps next game right like we're trying to find a rhythm find something that works find somebody to go to and this offense is struggled you're down by a thousand but I like that they continue to fight getting set for the point after smashes it through for the pat he marched 78 yd down the field and they close that drive going to the air for the final few inches about to kick it off after punching it for the touchdown bringing it out stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return here comes the sooner offense back onto the field this is quickly turning into a celebration Jesse as they've taken control of this game and they should feel good about how they've played they knew they had to come in here protect home turf they've gone out they've run it well they've thrown it well David really so much that this coaching staff can be happy about yeah and now it's about stat pading right like you can just put up more numbers you know this game's pretty good don't turn it over don't make a mistake but this game is well in hand on the ground trying to pull the plug on this clock draged down at the 30 after a 5yd gain they had a and it's the complete and total offense they got the ground going and obviously this is why you see him you you're going to feature him cuz he can turn those legs get those extra yards but they've had balance throwing for touchdowns like this offense has been very complete today and that's why they're winning so big they'll run it from the gun so runs like that that can really help your field position as they're up at the 35 and there's nothing more frustrating than when you get late in the game and you you know they're running the football and you don't stop them it's been that kind of day for this defense they haven't played well they're going to have to go to the well they're going to have to figure some things out practice this week I can promise you will not be a lot of fun with these coaches for e e for e for e for for
