e e e good evening everybody thank you so much for joining me here at the First Alert desk my name's corly Barnett we want to give you a look at some of the stories that we are following for your Sunday we hope you are having a nice holiday weekend so far do keep in mind today is a First Alert weather day that's why we're going to have First Alert meteorologist cutter Martin join us here in just a moment he's going to give you a look at how the rest of your evening is shaping up as well as your day off hopefully tomorrow but in the meantime I did want to give you a look at some of the stories that we are looking at uh some of these are some news stories today some are a continuation of some breaking news that we first brought you on Atlanta news first yesterday and do keep in mind you can always join us on atlantan newws first.com or through our atlantan newsfirst app if you want to read more about any of these uh we will see you tonight at 6:30 if you want to join us there on WF as well as 11 o'clock tonight there and 10 o'clock on Peach Tree TV and of course you can always join us back here at 8 on the First Alert desk so this first story that we want to bring you this is a teen that has gone missing out of deab County take a good look at this image here there is an urgent search happening right now police in De Cab County saying this boy 13-year-old London has not been seen for more than 24 hours now he was last seen just north of Interstate 285 in the panthersville area anyone who has seen him is urged to call De cab police's Special Victims Unit or you can call 911 right away now you'll remember it was just yesterday that here on the First Alert desk we told you about a 15-year-old who had gone missing out of Clayton County if you want to read more about that story we have that on atlantan panthersville area you can call to Cab County Police or 911 if you have any further information and this is an unfortunate update to a story that we have brought you previously here on Atlanta news first but a woman who was involved in a home explosion has now passed away from her injuries this Pickins County woman was severely burned in a house explosion and has now died Shelley Harland had been in Grady Memorial hospital since her home blew up from what investigator believe was a gas leak just about two weeks ago she worked at Annie's restaurant in Jasper and the restaurant posted that Harland died yes or Friday morning rather surrounded by her family they are now currently collecting donations to help pay for her funeral you've seen these images here just the destruction Left Behind from that home explosion investigators attributing it to a gas leak and now the sad news is after about 2 weeks in Grady Memorial Hospital Shelley Harland has now passed away away from her injuries again if you want to contribute family and loved ones they are collecting donations in order to honor her life and give her a service if you'd like to read more about that we are going to have that on atlantan newsfirst.tv just the other night and our reporter Bridget Spencer she is staying on top of this story but I do want to bring you up to speed she spoke to his coaches she spoke to the principal last night for how the community is rallying around this young man what we know right now is this is some kind of back injury and Carson Kimble had surgery earlier today and right now there is a long road of recovery left ahead for him briman High School senior Carson Kimble was looking forward to playing against the bow and Red Devils under the Friday Night Lights this is the this is the Rivalry the ambitious quarterback is known on campus for his work ethic and determination I don't know ever met a kid U that is as talented as he is but is so humble I mean they're uh he does nothing to draw attention to himself he just he just works but late in Friday's game he was tackled and it looked like any normal hit didn't look like anything uh crazy happened um but when when he didn't move we we knew this this stadium was it was packed on both sides and it was completely silent here Carson was rushed to Grady where he underwent surgery what I'm told is he has no feeling below the waist at this point and now the briming community rallying around Carson and his family students and parents all gathering at the school Saturday morning to say a prayer I don't think we can we can believe in anything else but a miracle at this point uh that's I mean that's that's where our hope is and uh that's what we're going to be seeking and looking for we know his family remains at his bedside tonight we're told that as soon as as he woke up from surgery the first thing he asked was where were his coaches from Grady Memorial Hospital tonight Bridget Spencer Atlanta news first so again our reporter Bridget Spencer is going to have more this evening you can join us tonight at 6:30 10 and 11 on Atlanta news first now I want to give you a look outside let's go ahead and take a live look over lak laner that might be where several of you are spending your Labor Day weekend or maybe near a body of water of some sort but how's the weather going to be holding up cutter if we want to maybe spend some time by the pool by the lake yeah actually I was speaking with the reporter Blake Divine earlier and uh he gave a call asking about the weather he's actually up on lake laner and they were dealing with some showers and thunderstorms and you can see that Lake cam there uh watching about 30 45 minutes ago everyone kind of packed into the marina very quickly got off the lake as they should have have with thunderstorms moving out over the lake of course uh Gusty winds a possibility lightning and thunder um a probability you know very likely with any storm that develops and and that's what we're seeing showers and thunderstorms are popping up it is not a plann cancel sort of rain event or firster weather day today however we do have showers and thunderstorms uh in the First Alert forecast on through the rest of this evening uh so I'm First Alert meteorologist cutter Martin here to stream on Atlanta news first plus if you have any weather question questions comments concerns to platforms we can chat on and that would be uh number one YouTube just go to Atlanta news first that's the account to like and to follow if you do want any clarification on the forecast or you can simply text us 470 777f 4707772280 [Music] from you all so thanks for tuning in and for watching we're going to go ahe and bring up a First Alert radar right now you can see showers and thunderstorms scattered about not everyone is seeing rain at this time uh but I'm willing to bet you at least you know see those dark clouds in the distance and earlier it was raining on the west side of Atlanta now a bit drier we're going to switch over radar modes so give you more definition see exactly what's going on and notice how inside I 285 we're pretty quiet right now earlier downpour near Stone Crest panthersville has diminished and then getting down in Clayton County over to Riverdale Stockbridge into Henry County a couple new little showers developing Union City that trip down 85 you're going to encounter some rain on the way to uh maybe headed to Nan or kaita County not really a storm but but enough rain to turn the wipers on for sure closest storm is on the west side and that would be between uh kind of the Brean area and Carolton right along that harelson County Line and this is also going to be soaking Interstate 20 Mount Zion up to Temple heavy rain lightning thunder this particular downpour is not moving very quickly uh so it will linger uh for I would say you know at least the next 15 to 30 minutes up into the Cedar Town area probably hearing that thunder storm is actually to your East but it's shooting out quite a bit of lightning even where it's not raining right into an over Cedar Town so again just because it's not raining you're not seeing any raindrops feeling any rain drops hitting you doesn't mean that you're far enough away to be protected uh by by lightning risks there uh storms especially this time of year can shoot lightning up to 10 miles away from where the storm actually is where the rain is actually falling so best to in Cedar toown head inside for a get a bit maybe give it 30 45 minutes and then some improvement in that uh weather condition in that forecast Carterville it is storming there's lots of lightning and it is raining where there's a lot of lightning uh we have some new little showers developing on the West Side us 411 and US 41 just to the west of 7 and these little downpours are moving into Northeastern and North Central BTO County pine log maybe up to aleska a few downpours moving in the general dire direction of Western Cherokee County and getting down in the cob County not too too much going on some sprinkles up near uh you know Jimmer Miller Park north of Marietta and into West cob a Stell area some sprinkles moving through and and there's Lake laner earlier downpours especially the west side of the lake for scy County part of the lake a weakening into Southern lumpin County Northern Hall County now a few downpours more organized storm activity from weer uh Eastern gwet lawrencville really the 98585 split on up to Commerce brazzleton uh showers and thunderstorms moving at a quicker clip here off to the North and the uh Northeast showers and thunderstorms uh are likely here for the next couple of hours I would say not everyone's going to see rain uh but the risk is there for the afternoon and the evening plan again if you do have plans that are brining outside today good day to have the First Alert weather app on this first alert weather day uh showers and thunderstorms not 100% coverage Hit or Miss but likely uh still in the forecast through 6 pm. by 900 p.m. we're going to start to appear down that rain chance peel off that First Alert weather day yesterday evening a few storms did linger well past Sunset and I think a couple will again this evening but in general now through about 8 8:30 is when uh rain chance Peaks chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms will Peak and then drying out tonight getting into the overnight hours we're going to calm down temperatures gradually a little bit cooler though I would say still kind of a mild muggy evening across North Georgia and Metro Atlanta and now for Labor Day we're going to wake up to temperatures about where they were this morning going low to mid-70s around Metro Atlanta 70 in lrange uh Westside cooler Carolton at 69 look at our Mountain communities elj Helen uh up in Clayton County I've seen a lot of pictures folks enjoying like Burton like Raven gorgeous up there like Blue Ridge too gorgeous start to the day tomorrow some clouds around maybe some patchy morning fog with temperatures in the mid to Upper 60s if you're going to get that uh Labor Day morning coffee run it's going to be a nice one out there still a little bit humid out the door in the morning as mentioned but no worries of rain or anything like that early on I think walk going to get coffee or maybe you're just going for a walk coffee excluded it's going to be a pretty nice one out there tomorrow morning and and some changes on the way as we get into tomorrow there is still a chance of showers and some thunderstorms in the forecast but uh we're peeling back that First Alert weather day again we'll bring you hour by hour let's start that clock at 7 o'clock Monday morning that the light uh Grays are clouds and some of those darker Grays you see kind of popping up and in around Atlanta there um that could be some patchy low clouds and patchy fog developing tomorrow morning early on you know 7 8:00 in the morning we start to warm up the fog lifts and dissipates and by by noon we're back to a mix of sun and clouds uh there is an isolated chance of showers and thunderstorms but notice how few and far between they are tomorrow less than what we are seeing today less even than what we had going on yesterday still a similar timeline here though uh with the peak chance in the afternoon and early evening through about 6:00 pm in the First Alert forecast and then drawing back out as we get into the kind of the mid uh evening hours you know 9 10:00 Labor Day evening and then we're cooler and drier into the work week uh we're going to peel down our temperatures maybe even bring in some much drier feeling air as well we're going to keep some clouds around not a sunny and cooler scenario kind of a cloudier cooler uh setup as we get into the middle of the work week and then we're watching Friday that's the next chance for more widespread showers and thunderstorms in the first alord forecast want to remind you we are slated to be on a have an early evening newscast different than yesterday should start at 6:30 on Atlanta news first WF at tonight at 10 p.m. we're on Peach Tree Atlanta CW affiliate 11:00 p.m. we're back on WF for Atlanta news first at 11: you can always grab a check of the First Alert forecast in the First Alert weather app if you're on the go in fact video forecast just recorded a bit ago and put that in uh the First Alert weather app want to thank you for joining again taking a look at Lake laner as the weather improves folks are starting to head back out on the lake enjoy your Sunday evening remain aware though shower sunnd storms a possibility through sunset
