POSTGAME POD: LAFC v Houston Dynamo (Again)

hello and welcome to Happy Foot sadf foot your LFC gateway drug and we are here right after what we can all agree was one of the most exciting games of soccer Major League Soccer has ever seen I'm Travis Helwig I'm Darren Miller the players are done warming up and they should be starting this game any minute now I think yeah I um I need to start by saying this it's time for Steve tundo to leave he didn't Tommy must a second of playing time in a game that should have been all must all the time yeah and I'm I'm at my Breaking Point Doo out officially if we don't see mro uh in El if must doesn't start for El traffico I'm no must goo must go that's what I say there that's the ring cry we should be saying that on the streets look it's great to be here on a Saturday night with a bunch of other people who chose to do this on a Saturday night um it look Vince isn't here it's his birthday everyone say happy birthday uh to Vince so you're not going to get a lot of in-depth soccer analysis on this one Darren what did you see in the game any happy feed or sad feed wait I'm interrupting myself thank you so much Greg gager uh for uh the 99 cent Super Chat you're the best um what did you see any Happy Feet or sad feet uh first Happy Foot to that point uh this is a great game to not have any in-depth soccer analysis on the table uh there was n to be had anyway uh I guess Happy Foot this is this is a little mixed but I know I think on paper I'm supposed to be happy with a tie in this match uh and given our roster situation I'm supposed to be happy with a tie in this match I'm having a hard time doing that that said it felt like the way that we dealt with the fact that this was our lineup and this was our game plan and this was our uh uh formation it it did seem to work and they did hold it together long enough to uh not do anything super inspiring or exciting but like it didn't break it felt like we could win that game at a lot of times right like even though we had what we can all agreee is maybe the worst roster we've fielded since the US Open cup like two years ago um it like the bench I saw someone post that uh uh Martinez was the oldest player oldest field player on the bench at 21 um so we had a bench that was full of people who could not play we saw full game from gerud which we haven't seen yet I don't know I I don't leave that game feeling bad if we lost I wouldn't have left that game feeling bad obviously you want three points we wanted some Revenge but I thought I saw some like pretty decent stuff and I felt like Jude was more involved in this match than he's been involved in any match uh previous and that was nice to see finally yeah I thought had uh he was definitely more involved he had some like really great small moves some great small passes that were impressive and you could kind of tell if it wasn't him it wasn't going to happen that way like he kept plays going that wouldn't have otherwise kept going really great pass to hulings head obviously was called off when uh for Jud being offside but I thought he had a great pass and then later in the game he had a really great pass to Tilman and Tillman outstretched diving header just missed it um it was just nice to see him be more involved making plays yes uh another Happy Foot there are no more regular season matches against Houston let's [ __ ] go baby uh that's as good of a happy foot as you could hope for in a game like this part of the reason why we have this thing with Houston is exactly what we saw like they're just the most boring [ __ ] team like I would rather them have beaten us convincingly and and shown anything worthwhile in I disagree I would not have wanted them to beat us but from like a watching a game like having something worth talking about standpoint there just like I can't think thing that's been worth talking about with them since we've been doing this show there it there would just like oh it's hot in Houston well that's why we don't [ __ ] do the preview episodes anymore the the the uh what was I going to say oh if they beat us we would have been like like oh two years in a row back to back they beat us we can say is it is it a curse you know we could have at least [ __ ] around and called it a curse but now we just have a boring game on a Saturday night I think um I also want to shout out Palencia who I think quietly has maybe become our most important Defender um he is so consistent I mean shano I would still maybe say is our our most important Defender at the moment but Palencia is so solid all the time and um like he doesn't just make those smart plays sometimes he makes big plays um and he like you notice how how important he is back there and I think that um he doesn't get enough credit from the fan base people hated Palencia for a long time I totally agree with you uh yeah I love him uh oh I'm in I'm I'm Greg gager back again with another Super Chat thank you so much uh this time with a comment does Vince have stronger legs than Drew I don't think so I think Drew I mean I've never seen Vince's so I can't say yes or no Greg honestly and and that's me being 100% legit right now could be Vince could have stronger legs on his birthday maybe on his birthday the thighs are are juicy like shuds um another Happy Foot I want to make sure we get to um Romero doing us a solid out there in Columbus giving us our first win against the Columbus Crew by getting a red card he was so for those of you who don't know the backup goalie that we released um a while back Romero was picked up by I believe uh the columbus' second division team was called up because both of their Keepers were uh sent away for international Duty and then they didn't have a backup keeper on the bench Romero got a really stupid red card he did something really dumb um got a stupid red card they didn't have a backup keeper to put in so they put in a field player and Seattle I believe won four to zero against Columbus so here's how the math works we will beat Seattle every match Columbus will beat us every match Seattle will beat Columbus every match and I want us to remember that that's the math of Major League Soccer also I to go back to your point about Palencia I think you can stand you can expand uh what you're saying like all of the players that this season have become reliable have continued to be reliable and maybe only getting even more so reliable I would put Tilman in that same category I would put lce in that same category and this season the commentators were [ __ ] horny for tman they wouldn't stop talking you know what they had a good reason I I would also uh introduce long into this category this season and I'm proud to do it you know we haven't heard Jeff to say anything negative about Aaron long in a while and I I just want to point that out um although he might be serving a match suspension from our last live stream the um I'm trying to I'm just going through some of my other notes some sad feat ordaz getting beat on a fast break right like just fully he's the youngest person out there should not be getting beat on a fast break I think it's just once the ball got to his feet he didn't have uh have the speed anymore saguro with a really bizarre decision to let the ball go out of bounds when we had possession in the 18 of Houston late in the game do you remember that it was off a corner it was clearly us that had headed it and he had the opportunity to stop the ball from going out of bounds and decided uh instead to lie to the ref and try to pretend like we didn't hit it last when we could have had another open Play sigura Always seems so uh iffy once he's out of the the the defense area like once when he's at home he's okay except so sorry to interrupt Darren ephon bonitz says sounds like I made the right decision in choosing to watch wrestling over this game also happy birthday Vince one drink is on me our biggest Super Chat of all time I think maybe it's either this or one of uh Mikey's from uh back when he was on a bender but the uh thank you so much uh Efron I I just want to also say remember we're getting half we're we're splitting think it's a big deal I've seen him do something like that in a lot of games now at this point and he's sort of annoying me he's got he's got some Martinez energy actually lately yeah uh he also was like he was whining after like the he had just completely thrown water on the fire on the play right before that yeah like they had just gotten out of the box and he was just kind of messing around with it and just kind of killed all the momentum of the play and the the one takeaway from the way he played in that play right before getting taken out was like man he's exhausted and then he gets taken out and it's like what come on man for what give us a reason to keep you in I mean it must be hard to return to the club where you were like so good for so long and know you're not doing it anymore and know that the fans sort of feel that way too right like it's it's got to be hard to come home and be like oh I didn't just suck in Brazil I also suck here um Dam he doesn't suck he's better than me at soccer let say that um uh also another sad foot Louis O'Brien I love I I'm very excited about a lot of what I'm seeing from him I have noticed he turns the ball over quite a bit like some of his passing is is a little weak yeah he does seem to be everywhere you need him to be but then maybe sometimes like it it maybe the fact that he has the ball is because of his good effort but like then I'll just leave it for yeah it's honestly not super different from like um DS when he's in except D we saw a good classic dous foul where he sprinted into someone for no reason um a real Latif blessing uh vow from dwas D is is a real teeth blessing to the team um and then final uh B foot I have before we can just go back to all the great things that happened this game um Jude like I said very happy how involved he was Ryan Hollings had had an open header in the box at the end of that game and Jude really wanted it to be his and he headed it out of the range of Ryan holling head yeah I that maybe was a miscommunication but that was uh that was a rough one especially when it's the same situ like he also is the reason why his pass to his assist to huling said didn't work out last time and I was just like leave it to him again it will work out this time uh try to interrupt Darren nut has given us $435 did the math $1 per host now with Google's cut included you Google there's a chance I guess there's a chance they give us everything on the on the Super Chat we don't really know how the Super Chat thing the Super Chat thing really did just happen I I don't know if maybe they don't take a cut on those or something but that's the cut they I thought they do they take they take any any monetization they're taking a cut yeah I think it's all monetization is is the same and that's what their cut is like across the that's what people are here for is to know the what percentage Google economics yeah my last sad my last sadot was that I uh Vince is the one who would know better than me why this happened but I think dorsy on their side got was getting through us and getting great crosses off all match uh and it was uh pretty frustrating to see that happen it seemed like huling head was on him pretty frequently it seemed like toward the end of the first half holling had decided to just start hitting him which was nice so sorry to interrupt Darren Greg is we've played them where it's a benefit to us to have played in Houston right it was still like 100 degrees look after after they bossed us around last week with most of our starters in there to have six guys out for international play and to basically hold our own and actually like you were saying earlier Travis like looked like we could have won it a few times yeah that's great I'll take it yeah I I don't I feel pretty decent about this game I obviously it's it was boring um we didn't have our best lineup but all that [ __ ] considered um I feel pretty good about uh walking out with z00 I I thought we should have just thrown the game so uh that shows you what I know so sorry to interrupt myself nut again says talk hypotheticals are better than walkable cities talk um yeah I guess so I last season and I think they're reluctant to admit that they were wrong about him but pen is just consistent um for our team and and in ways that I think I I don't see other Defenders making some of those more athletic plays that he makes I think it was someone just noted on Richard here it was like there's so much love for cheeky you know with with the big moments that it was just like and I think it's very similar to what you're describing to like how we were hesitant to love Sanchez after losing to Testa because they played a similar role it was like oh okay how you know now we're bringing this guy and so yeah yeah and sad foot I mean I don't you know nothing sadly sad Latif blessing can't just be on our team you know hang around I would love for him to like there there should be like a Vibes uh DP slot where just like a guy who brings yeah that's good no 100% 100% And if we if we could move sigura to loved you like always been a great guy but um you know head to the parking lot um is he the longest 10e player at this point he's been on the team for so long I think so I mean I mean he been injured for two of those Seasons yeah he probably you know my guess is he announcement on the show today um I'm I'm uncomfortable I during tiny Donuts I was remarking that it's so silly that we've gotten people to say Happy Foot and sad foot and it like isn't weird it's like and my sad foot is this like what the [ __ ] does that mean just created a thing it's cool thank you guys for playing along we're happy um also oh I do have a happy foot at one point they showed a man in the Houston stands with a popcorn bucket on his head uh and that was a big a big Happy Foot for me was popcorn bucket head did we just decide that it's okay to come down from Fresno or not did we did we reach a verdict on that oh I um I would say yes I think they should come I would say yes they should come they should come yeah also it is a let's talk about traffico for a second it is we've already won the traffico series uh this year right we've won two of the three games that takes a little bit of the pressure off um we beat them at the Rose Ball which was technically a home game for them so we already won away um the the reason this game matters is it could decide the West right it could decide who gets home field advantage if there's a traffico in the playoffs and that's a pretty big um I would much rather play at bimo than I would want to play uh in Carson but outside of that I don't we've had their number all season if we lose this game it I'll be mad because it's a bad run of games but I don't think I don't know what are are you stressing about this traffico I I I haven't really thought about it because I Lo and then the tie like yes I think what what the point that you're proving is important but I think it's really just speaking to like the banter of it all and the bragging rights of it all more so sorry to interrupt Daren nut says I hereby nominate Lindsay for the role of Vince thank you nut uh yeah she knows more than both of us so she could be Vince this episode yeah thank you for the Super Chat uh go go ahead uh I think for like the bragging rates of it and like the overall rivalry of it then I agree some of the pressure sweeping them would be huge that would be cool oh for sure I agree that some of the pressure is taken off uh and some I'm like a little bit n less nervous about that but I think the circumstances of the Season call for us to be very uh nervous about not I don't know if nervous is the right word but like this is a huge match now like we just lost one then tied one we're still fighting for them for the chop of the West uh I am the only one left but uh I still feel like supporter Shield is not uh completely dead because you're delusional yeah but Columbus might even be out of the race now I don't think it's a good situation to be in to uh be to not have won three matches in a row after leagues cup and then figure out what to do next and the last one's against Galaxy like that that would be a terrible situation I agree that it would be yeah I guess I'm scared now I wasn't scared when I asked the question
