Arsenal Face PSG, Liverpool Take On Real Madrid! | The Champions League

hi and welcome along to Dr Sports the Champions League draw has been made and I want to take a look at who the English clubs have got of course four clubs represent in the Premier League you've got Arsenal you've got Liverpool you've got Manchester City and Aston Villa and of course this season there's a new format it's not the old format where you know you have your group stages you play each team home and away and then you go out through to Knockouts it's a different format completely let me just explain how this format um goes briefly um under the new UFA Champions League uh format which is started this season teams from the same country can face each other um and uh you know that can happen in the league phase also the new format which has been referred to as the Swiss model replaces the traditional group stages instead of the uh eight group games where you'd have four teams playing each other home and away it's different now there will be a single League phase which has 36 teams in it a lot of teams each team will play eight matches um against eight different opponents so it's not home and Away Home and Away eight different opponents and these opponents are determined based on um their seeding in the draw so for instance Manchester City and Liverpool were in pot a r were in pot B and Aston Villa in potsy as a newbie um all 36 teams are all in the same league table as I said um and it's possible from teams from the same country to have drawn each other un like the previous format so let's get into who got who when it came to the English sides I'm going to start first of all with Manchester City because they are the champions these are the teams that they are going to play in the new format they determine the dates yet that we won't know that until Saturday that's when they'll tell us um the different dates and you know when um teams are going to be facing each other they're going to be playing Inter Milan at home PSG away Club Brugge at home Juventus away Thord at home Sporting Lisbon away Sparta Prague at home and sloven Bratislava away that is Manchester City's fixtures Liverpool Real Madrid at home and again they play Real Madrid they always seem to get them um leig Away by a lusen at home AC Milan away Lil at home PSV away bologna at home and jerona away um we go to Arsenal next they play PSG at home Inter Milan away shakar Den next At Home Atlanta away in Italy Dino Mo Zagreb at home Sporting Lisbon away Monica at home and jerona new boys to the um competition they play them away and Aston Villa who have Aston Villa got they've got Bayern Munich at home leig away Juventus Juventus at home Club Bru away Celtic at home that's good one young boys away bologna at home and Monaco away so not bad I mean my instant reaction to that is that let me just talk about Arsenal first obviously that's my team my team that I support as an Arsenal fan I'm quite happy with that you know I mean PSG at home difficult game but it's a lot easier to play them at home than it is to go away and play PSG we've got to go away to Inter Milan of course the champions of ser of Italy um and that of course is going to be a difficult game away to Atlanta who won the Europa League but they've lost a few players so is that not too bad got a go away to sport in always difficult but home against um away against jerona a new destinate if you're an Arsenal fan you got to be happy with that that you look at those games and you say right we're supposed to win most of those games so you'd be happy with that Manchester City mixed bag because they've got to go away to PSG um that's not going to be easy and they got to go away to Juventus as well so those are two really difficult away games at home against Inter Milan but never ever easy when you play a team like Inter Milan so that's a bit tricky for them but you would expect them to win the majority of those games and certainly spart prag at home slov and breslavia away um you know you'd expect them to win those games quite easily Liverpool on the other hand it's quite tricky Real Madrid at home won't be easy I mean great fixture um that anfield but then they got to go away to leip that's going to be hard they got the Invincible champions from the Bundesliga by a lusen and their old old boy Javier Alonzo coming to their place that's tough they got a go way to AC Milan not easy Lil at home Lil always a decent little tricky side um from France they got to go away to PSV that's never easy as well Arnie slot going back you know I'm sure he's not going to get the nicest welcome at PSV and then they got the new boys uh bologna at home they should be pretty happy with that and a wait to jerona so a few tricky games in there for them definitely now if you're an Aston Villa fan you might be not too bad with the the actual lineup because they got to play Bayern Munich but it's at home so you know at Villa Park they won't be too you know unhappy about that they go away to leig home to Juventus again tough game but they're at home um away at Club Brugge definitely winnable at home against Celtic again they're at home when they've got a really difficult fixture away at young boys home against bologna away at Monaco if you're a villa fan when you consider you were in the you know the lowest pot that ain't too bad because your tough games that you've got in Bayern Munich Juventus throw Celtic into that they're all at home and at home you know you know I was at Villa Park at the weekend that's not an easy place to go to that place will be rocking they'll be very very pleased with that so overall I'd say out of all of the teams um I'd say you know if you're if you're an Arsenal fan you're quite happy with how the draws worked out if you're a Manchester City fan you'll be quite pleased with how that's worked out as well and if you're an Aston Villa fan you're going to be quite pleased as well because as I said the toughest games are at home if you're a Liverpool fan on the other hand you're thinking it's you know you're still going to be confident you're going to get through but there's some tricky games in there as I Real Madrid at home even though it's at home mbappe you know venicius Jr that's not easy you got to go away to leig you got Bay lusen a very good side at home and then you got to go away to to AC Milan and as I said tricky against L away at PSV is never easy there's a few little difficult games in there if you're a Liverpool fan I'd say out of all the English teams they've probably got the harder games when you you know when you're weighing up the home and away fixture so you know considering they you know what I'm also taking into account is that they're in pot a which is a hardest pot you know sorry which is should be the easiest pot because you're a seeded team you've been seeded the highest but yet still have ended up getting some pretty difficult fixtures in there so those are the um the games that they're going to face I mean at this early stage who are you guys making the favorites out of all of those English teams to progress to furest I think when you look at it you got to say Manchester City they've been doing really well in this competition over the past few years of course they won it um in recent times you got to say that it looks like they're going to go pretty far again as I said if you're an Arsenal fan you''ll be pretty optimistic that you're going to you know qualify in those you know top eight teams and the same with Liverpool and remember in this new format if you qualify in you know that top eight you know that means that you don't have to go and play again in any sort playoffs go below that you're in a playoff system um you're going to have to play off against um you know the next 16 teams playoff the other teams outside of that they're all out so how far are the English teams going to go who is going to win it who's going to come the you know out of all of these English teams who do you think is capable of winning the Champions League in this new format I'm going to pick a winner honestly you know I mean i' love to pick Arsenal but I'm going to have to pick Manchester City you know I mean they're well equipped in this competition they got a great Squad and that start for them is not the end of the world so I'd have to go with them as I said tricky for Liverpool AR a slot new manager into this format how will they get on lots of games for him to manage but they've got a good squad Villa you know they chance for them to go you know far but you know always going to be tricky for them but out of you know out of them I'd say City will go to Furby and my favorites to win it after the players that they bought in you cannot go against Real Madrid I mean once again they're looking really really strong now that they bought in mbappe to add to venicius Jr Rodrigo all these top players you've got to say that they are the favorites to win it but who knows what are you guys saying would love to hear from you guys who do you think is going to win this year's champions league and also hear from you guys what do you think of this new format because I mean I did a draw for it over on um aftv we did live I mean when you saw that you looked on the screen and you saw the amount of teams that are now in this Champions League format I mean it looked like a massive spreadsheet up there um do you like this new format um is it something that's going to diminish some of the you know competitions here in in the UK I mean what happens to the league cup with the amount of games that you got to play in the Champions League are the big boys going to take competition like The League Cup and even the FA Cup seriously enough when you see how many games they're going to have to play in this new Champions League format really want to hear from you guys actually just before I go let's just mention Celtic um Celtic have drawn leiping at home Bia Dortmund away Club Bru At Home Atlanta away young boys at home Dina Mo Zagreb away slov batava at home and Aston Villa away if you're a Celtic fan you're happy with that again chance for you to
