all right guys welcome back to another exciting episode of TNT podcast I'm your host T I'm Tasha and uh today we're going to be talking about Lincoln Park now Lincoln Park is a band that I'm very familiar with they were a band that I was listening to before I was into rock or metal uh they just had massive Commercial Appeal and I I really can't think of anyone that doesn't like this band except for the metal heads that come into my metal stream on uh Friday night uh funny enough I was talking to my dad a little while while ago and he was telling me how much he loved their first album Hybrid Theory oh wow and uh I believe a couple of years ago I had put you on a Lincoln par because you were familiar with who they were but you really didn't know their music or Knew Too Much About Chester Bennington insert reaction here right yeah yeah yeah and so I was crying like a baby yeah right right yeah you was like oh is that that guy who just passed away because no I didn't know passed away oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah because it was like when you had did the reaction he had just recently uh passed away so it was like very fresh yeah like growing up I definitely heard of some of their music yeah but we've talked about this there were certain music where I felt like I couldn't listen to okay yeah and although it was really good it was like you know I don't want nobody to judge me for listening to this music that's a whole another podcast oh yeah you know what I mean um but when you start start introducing me to the music and just The Vibes that they had was just so good but also it was very unique their style was just something that you know I felt like was just so right for the timing yeah they they broke a lot of barriers with their sound um I think initially they had like a good combination of rock and Hip-Hop yeah and uh and what is that style called um I I during the time they call it new metal okay but over the years it's transitioned into into something else essentially Lincoln Park became its own Beast because they just had a sound that they were known for and even more very Innovative even more uh importantly uh Chester started getting recognized and respect for having great vocals and they really beun to shine when he started singing his more slower songs that were uh ballads or more emphasis of his V vocals and so people were like wow this guy he really can't sing cuz I believe when they first came out um people really kind of saw them as like a gimmick band because the way that he was screaming in the song other metal and rock artists they weren't singing like that and so I remember was he screaming he was screaming because there were songs like um he was poor haad so hard right yeah yeah he was pouring his heart out on the songs but I remember people were like oh that's the whiny band and they would say things like that like people wouldn't consider them like real metal uh artist well the thing is I don't think they were metal metal like I was saying very Innovative they were a new form of metal and I think I said it was great for the time but actually I feel like maybe they were ahead of their time and whenever you're ahead of your time you're always going to receive criticism right well all right so this the funny thing about the band I feel like the band was ahead of his time but they were right on time because what I was although their sound was like new they became Mega popular super fast and then all of a sudden um tons and tons of bands started emulating their style like right after that and so that was what was really cool about the band but ultimately um um you know Chester end up taking his life in 2017 and you know things kind of came to a halt of course fans were devastated and the band couldn't make any more music or any whatever but now there had there's recent news that Mike shenoda the one of the founding members he has tapped uh I believe her name is Emily AR Armstrong okay so she is replacing Chester as the new vocalist now a lot of people are a lot of fans they're kind of they have mixed reviews about that or mixed feelings about it okay because on one hand they would love to see another tour of Lincoln Park continuing to make great music or continuing to tour but then on the other hand it's kind of like you know Chester was so iconic and pivotal in the band it's like how could you replace this guy right yeah it kind of feels like I guess Queen yeah it's exactly like that like Freddy Mercury so iconic how could you replace him he's irre yeah he's Irreplaceable but they did it they did they did with Adam Lambert Adam Lambert surprisingly he he did he he does a really like he's really good with the band yeah and um but it's not the same no it's not the same but I think you can't expect it to be the same exactly he's created his own lane but uh on the flip side the Queen the band has gone out and they continue to tour and the fans get still you know still get to enjoy okay so what's the problem because I feel like you you're leading up to something what's the problem so the problem is is that Chester's son has recently came out and spoke out about the band uh and Mike shenoda the band founder uh of trying to erase the legacy of his father and maybe he feels like they shouldn't replace uh Chester as the lead vocalist or then band shouldn't make any more music if anything they should just form a new band and leave it at that and so he's he's been very vocal about um some of the reasons why he doesn't like Emily being uh the vocalist uh but also he he's had some interactions with Mike Shinoda in the past so they're not on good terms okay and so some of the fans they kind of understand and they feel his sentiments and some of the fans are like yo you know the band was there before Chester and they deserve to tour and make money you know because regardless of what happen living yeah exactly it's like you know although Chester has passed away you know life goes on and bills need to be paid it's not like everyone's bills you know have just been like oh the least singer of your band died you don't have to pay the power bill or you're mortgagees dude I think the thing is most people look at successful people and don't think about normaly okay yeah you know yes you as a person have bills and um have to make a living but this person you've toured around the world you've been on TV you're rich you should be able to um have a lifestyle without touring or making new music yeah and the thing is you don't know what people's bank account is like you don't know what their life is like and so I think Chester son what is his name Jamie Jamie I want to keep calling him that Jamie bennetton um he's hurt he's in his feelings and he has a he has the right to fill away mhm but does he have a right to tell the band yikes what they can or should do I understand that who his father was but that does not give him the power to do that and I think he might feel entitled because of who his father was okay and he's not thinking about the band having to make a living right okay I think he might think that they've made their money um and let it lay where it is and leave the legacy of Lincoln Park with his father as is right and you find a way somewhere else see and and and the other part is is that because we mentioned uh making a living we we've mentioned bills and money and I I I really hate to think that oh they're going on tour because of you know like on one hand you would like to think that they're going going on tour and they're creating new music because of the fans because fans do desire new music from their favorite artists and favorite bands uh but the reality is is that yeah bills are due or or people got to pay bills and that like you said successful even successful ones and we don't know the financial status of these people but it's like you know they wouldn't make I mean they wouldn't be doing this if there wasn't a money issue you know what I'm saying not saying that there's a severe money issue like they're going broke or something but it's like you know you you don't know yeah you just don't know it's like you you want to you want to get paid for the things that you do or the the the thing that you've created you know what I'm saying because um Lincoln Park the name the brand the band it's iconic so why shouldn't you not be able to make money off of that right um so did he say anything else regarding the band because he does feel it's it it it does feel like he's in his feelings and you know he lost his father tragically MH and that's not something you get over and so because he can't actually talk to his father about what happened maybe it's being misdirected to the band yeah um I I I I'm not sure if it's to the band the other band members but I know is specifically targeting or towards uh Mike Shinoda m and so uh I I believe one of the other issues he had with the lead singer um uh Emily was that she was a member of the Church of Scientology and that at one point in time she had supported Danny M Masterson I don't know who who he was this actor who was convicted of our word to other people and she supported him at one time and uh during his court case she appeared there uh at his trial but you know she said she regret edited and she apologized and all the other stuff um and so so it's her fault I mean I don't I don't I don't know I don't because so he he's okay but he's upset over that over maybe the the choice the interesting thing about this is that Chester's Widow actually had uh uh announced her support of their new tour and is that his mother his mother yes so his mother is in support of it but but the um but the son he's like nah you know cuz maybe he does feel like her being the new lead singer if they become Mega popular or whatever people are going to forget about his his father and I don't I don't see that happening at all ever uh when you talk about legendary or iconic rockers out there or uh metal artists uh Chester's name always comes up yeah you know regardless of how metalheads feel about Lincoln Park's music or even Chester um they can't deny his talent or the success of the band and I've heard I've seen that all throughout the industry whenever somebody asks uh mainstream artist about Lincoln Park like if they've ever spoken up about the band they always say yeah you know I might not like the music or I might not listen to them but I do respect them I do respect that their contributions and the market that they've made so I have a question because I remember that Chester was in bands so is his son Jamie is he is he against everyone so the all right so the only other band that I can remember Chester was in was Stone Temple Pilots okay he took over as the lead singer uh because their lead singer Scott wiland He I I I can't remember if he passed away by the time Chester took over or if Scott wiing was just doing drugs and he was partying and everything so he wasn't really a reliable frontman okay and um and it was the same thing like the band was like yo we want to go out on the tour we want to make money but we can't because our lead singer guy isn't showing up or maybe he passed away I can't remember either either way well if he passed away he definitely not showing up but I mean I'm just saying it's like I I think Chester was alive when when when Scott I mean Scott wild was alive when Chester took over but basically it was like that you know it was like yo we need somebody to replace this guy because we want to go out and make tour and and make money and everything but I I remember that the reception for it was pretty bad um you know it was the same thing like fans they didn't like Chester singing for their favorite band and I'm not sure if people warned up to it but from the covers or from not covers but from the songs that I've heard uh they were pretty good yeah well I don't think his legacy can be replaced or erased right um but it's it definitely seems like he feels some type of way but is trying to I guess determine what they can or cannot do and using his father um father's Legacy to control that right yeah you know and I mean what can you do he's hurt yeah right you know so well um but is he doing that to did Stone Temple Pilots have they made any new music uh I I I don't know okay yeah I don't know because the other part is is like I listen to a lot of their older music and so I didn't even listen to uh the stuff that Chester was doing I I don't even know if he did an album with them so maybe it's because Lincoln Park is more popular um Lincoln Park is more popular what the stone Tipple Pilots yeah well uh Stone tiple Pilots is Iconic but I'll say Lincoln Park is more popular than okay yeah okay well I guess people can let us know if replacing yeah let us know Down Below in the comment section if you think replacing Chester with Emily is erasing his legacy uh leave y'all can leave your thoughts Down Below in the comment section and maybe we'll go ahead and do some reactions on the channel of uh their new lead singer and hearing how good she is okay because um I can imagine uh Mike had picked her because he saw the talent in her singing style you know and um although her style might be different from Chester I'm pretty sure she can she'll be able to add some kind of value or contribution to the band see but y'all can leave your thoughts Down Below in the comment section we'll keep this conversation going and we'll see y'all next time take care peace t
