talking Yankees Mets baseball standings and the new logo for the nets

welcome to Sports Talk New York and let's get my face right up on here come on there we go yep I'm woring my Yankee cap I'm ready to go but this podcast here this episode I'm going to take talk about this frustrating team called the New York Yankees um I've got the thing up screenshot on here already right there right there points out the this right there where it says frustration mounts after rodon puts Yankees behind the barrel this man is so freaking frustrating like we know how good he is we know what he can do and yet he loses another freaking game it's just it's just disgusting and I was just listening to uh Keith mcferson from WF and there's some things that he pointed out that I didn't even realize and I should have realized and that's the plain and simple fact that this team since June 14th June 14th when we we played Boston Red Sox it was a Friday night since that game the Yankees have won five games and that means the whole rest of June and the first part here of July and including last night's loss we are five and 16 since that since that game uh now to me things started going downhill before that but that's just kind of the the thing where they kind of say um because if you go a week back before that when we played the Dodgers we did not have Juan sto I think for the what first two games of that series and we end up losing two out of three to the Dodgers and that to me is when it started to go down but just going by what I was hearing five and 16 since since we uh played Boston June 14th five and 16 come on man what what happened to us like what really happened to us like this team us fans maybe the fans aren't even to blame for this because I think fans still hold this team to a higher standard what happened to the Stein brenners this team used to be held to a very high standard and now it's just oh home hey we win the division or week in the playoffs and see what we can do that that's about what it is I said this about three or four years ago on a different podcast and I'm going to say it again and if things keep going way they are which it's looking like they're going to unless strowman can turn it around tonight uh it it just doesn't look good um but what I want to happen is for them to fire Aaron Boon by the All-Star break because I don't think think anything is going to change and then make some trades because this team has some holes in it I mean when we're throwing Trent Grisham out there it it's just disgusting and maybe he's a decent player but he he doesn't really seem to care doesn't seem to want to hustle yeah I'm calling you guys out exactly what I'm doing the Ares you guys are held to a higher standard than anyone else and this is how you go out there we have Aaron judge and Juan SoDo and everybody else because Verdugo who I was actually liking he's just started going downhill now glamer tus needs to be off this freaking team he needs to be gone I mean even if you sit there and then you got older players like gizzo who's hurt it's not his fault he's hurt and then lameu and they're both older players like you got to turn this roster over like Ben rice looks like the best the best thing besides SoDo and judge on this team right now I don't know what's going on with gar Cole uh I'm trying to give him some slack here I really am I'm trying to give him some slack and let him kind of get himself going because I kind of felt that this has been kind of his uh how do I want to say it it's been kind of like his um spring training but now we're getting to the point where he's got to start pitching where he's got to start looking like G Cole so it's time to get your head out your ass and let's move it uh it's just disgusting what this team is doing and it's been the same thing like this is reminding me of 2022 like 2022 this exact same same thing happened and they went downhill in the second half and now they're just going downhill even quicker it it's this team under Aaron Boon and it it's nothing personal when I say Aaron Boone when I say I want him fired it's nothing personal it really isn't to me all it is is common sense and there the problem is is that they had this issue where they think that they have to ride it out with somebody no you don't um unfortunately even I'm going to say this this is the generation of quick quick polls quick fixes the there's no patience with generation this generation right now and we have not won a World Series hell p in a World Series since 2009 that's like 15 16 years ago I I could I mean if you count 09 that's if you get gay you don't even count 09 but whatever still it's like 15 16 years I think it's 15 years since we last won a World Series and that's the last time we were in the World Series it it's just like Boon head as close one year we were one win away one year and I can't even remember what year it was What freaking year it was sorry about my language I try to keep it clean um I can't even remember what year that was I think it was 17 and that was the whole Houston freaking debacle that was the last time Aaron Boon had us uh yeah that close it's just frustrating man it really is this this team just doesn't I I just don't understand what they're doing but all right so in my mind what you got to do is you got to fire Boone by the All-Star break and then you got to make some trades and you got to get rid of some people and you got to sit there and try to just you got to try to get this team back to the way they were playing in May June and April April May and June beginning of June you got to get them back to playing like that it it's just I keep going over the same thing over and over again and I don't want to but it it's just it's just disgusting so hopefully strowman can get turned around because even this Tampa team's not even even not even in our our category they're we're better than them like Baltimore I understand because they're just as good maybe even better than us but Tampa Bay no Boston no and we're just getting beat by everybody like everybody's just taking us out and the other thing about that whole five and 16 since June 14th nine of those 16 losses are against our division that's another bad thing that we're having this year we're really bad against our division and I didn't even go back to the months before to see how many losses we had but that was just from June 14th to to yesterday it's just it's just disgusting but okay well I got this on here I will go and see and talk about the Mets and see how they are doing and then I will go back to the standings here and kind of give you an updated standings um okay where we go Mets all right see now the Mets I think the Mets are probably doing better than us since June 14th so we'll just use June 14th as a date here and we'll go back here and we will look and they are let's see if they have more wins than us they probably do but they are since June 14th just using that as a day uh let's see they are one 2 3 four and one five and one five and two six and two 7 and two 8 and two 9 and two 9 and three 9 and four um so they are 9 and four then we go down here sorry I'm trying to keep my head there as of countings then you got 10 11 uh 12 [Music] 13 14 uh yeah 14 they're they have 14 wins to our five so they are playing a much better game right now um they're playing Washington tonight they beat Washington last night uh so yeah they they are doing much better they they kind of started the opposite way of us they the Mets kind of got off to a bad start and they've kind of gotten hot and then they kind of cooled down tiny bit just a tiny bit and then they got going again um so we'll have to see how it goes here with the match but they got what they got to finish out July with here before the allst so they got a game again yeah they got a game against Washington another game against Washington and then they got Colorado to finish up the the first half of the Season uh so that's pretty much the Mets they're they're looking good uh I'll come back to the standings here in a second and let you know how they're doing standing wise but I think they're right there but all right so let's go to our our standings here as you can see I got it up division all right Baltimore is up on three games on the Yankees Baltimore's 57 and 34 and the Yankees are 55 and 38 and I got to even start showing Boston in there they're 50 and 40 uh then you go to Cleveland uh they're winning their division by about 5 and a half right now over Minnesota they're 5733 you got Minnesota 52 and 39 9 and Kansas City they're they're hanging in there they're they're not too bad 49 and 43 um and you have Seattle is up in Houston by three two games they're 50 and 43 Houston is 47 and 44 and you count even Texas and they're right there too then you go to the National League you got Philadelphia 59 32 Atlanta 5139 and the Mets 45 and 45 right at 500 and they're still hanging in there the division wise they're not there but well I'll show you what I'm I'm talking about with them in a minute U Milwaukee 53 and 39 you got St Louis 48 and 42 Pittsburgh and Cincinnati both 44 and one's 44 and 47 one's 44 and 48 and you got the Dodgers just they should be playing better but they're 55 and 37 and you got San Diego right there at 49 46 all right so now let's go to the Wild Card Standings switch that over and you got your three division leaders Cleveland Baltimore Seattle and then you've got the Yankees who are in the top spot for the wild card with uh yeah a three and 1 half game lead and then you got Minnesota the next spot and then Boston that's why I said Boston is hanging in there they're right there so those are your three teams that are in the Wild Card spots so then you go down and you got Kansas City at 49 and 43 two games back you got Houston 4744 there's about 3 and 1/2 back and you go to Tampa and they're about 5 and 1/2 back and that's about where I stop Texas I guess maybe you could that yeah if you want to but I'm not going to put Texas quite there yet all right so now we go down to the National League Wild Card all right you got your division wi leaders Philadelphia Dodgers and Milwaukee and then you got Atlanta and St Louis and San Diego is your three Wild Card teams um now Atlanta says here they have a about a four and a half game cushion um but then you got the Mets like I was talking about them before you've got them who are 45 and 45 but they're right there just about a game and a half back and also now I'm thinking about it the Mets made a trade yesterday they acquired um let me get his name right uh they acquired somebody they acquired a picture Phil I think it's m a r t o n I think that's how you say it um but I saw it yesterday but they the mat they pulled that trade off with somebody I don't even remember who it was I briefly saw it I'll have to go you know what let me go look now while I got you on here cuz I just showed you the standings let me go to bleach reports go to here pretty sure the Mets are way down here yep they are all right bring up the mats uh let's see I saw it yesterday ah there it is all right the Mets made a trade yesterday with um Tampa Bay the Rays the Rays here's the trade right here trade this from the Mets we have acquired right-handed picture Phil Martin from Tampa in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations and a corresponding move left-handed pitcher Joey Luchini has been designated for assignment all right so that is your trade on what happened there um so now let's go out of there and pretty much yeah and also I posted it on the Sports Talk New York Facebook page uh the um Brooklyn Nets have a new logo let's see if I can find it just kind of show it to you real quick go to my page yes this is my page go to this hopefully it's on here if it's not I'm I don't know why this is doing is for all right well again I posted on my Facebook page Sports Talk New York it pretty cool it's nothing you know insanely but it it's pretty cool but all right so I wanted to talk some baseball one talk some Mets one talk some Yankees talk some baseball in general hopefully the Yankees can get this situated um but I'm telling you what they have to do and it's they got a fire boon um get their head out of their ass and fire Boon and I think something big has got to be Brewing because of the fact that both Cashman and Hal are in Tampa and I know Hal lives in Tampa but whatever they're both at the games they were at the games yesterday they saw what happened they saw the debacle that this team they've been watching how the bacle this team how bad they really are but so I'm hoping something has got to happen within the next week or two here something big has to be Brewing because they again they were both there and I know Cashman talked yesterday and I know he wasn't really happy um so we'll see we'll see what happens but they got to figure out a way to get out of their own way because they haven't been able to the past seven years this seems to be a very bad Trend with this team but all right so I'm going to let you go this is I'm your host Matt pizzy and
