Jack Whitehall Fatherhood with my Father interview

men where to start with this so you're used to as a family having cameras around filming yeah but it's quite full on Jack as you know now to be filming and having people in your house with a brand new little baby yeah how was that yeah I mean I don't think we fully thought it through and that was always my fear with our it's like like we set out to make a sort of travel log and then it ended up becoming just like a posh version of the Kardashians and then with this show I was like let's just do like a proper document and then learn behold it sort of becomes like reality TV but we we loved working together we did Travels With My Father we love working together maybe you could tell your face but we did have a really good time doing that and then we were desperate to find something else to do and we you know we were we were getting quite desperate to be honest um like even at one point last year Michael unfortunately had to go in for a colonoscopy oh no at the end they give the end a vicious vicious two years ago and at the end I have never had a colonos you had a colon never had you have and at the end they gave you a DVD and we had that conversation where we said that maybe we could sell that to Netflix and call it travels inside my father okay all right we did we had a whole Michael ignore him Michel and all this stuff about him and the and the daughter and all that and the film cam the daughter once one day half a day filming with your in your house with your daughter and it was all sort of oh know what are we going to do and then all the crew said never again spent the whole three hours of filming yeah and saying sh oh no you mustn't wait the baby and Jack will be very cross and Jack's all standing there saying oh is it a good thing I don't talk like that just stop don't so that was all you'll only see that one tiny sequence in the whole series well well I'm I'm I'm very intrigued about your take on this Michael because you know you you've said before in in previous interviews as well that you didn't think you were necessarily A Hands-On father very light touch but but Jack took you to um to a pregnancy class oh my goodness now this is something I wanted to know more about so so how did the pregnancy classes go um from my point of view not very well right um you picked up some tips what you learned peral massage oh no didn't do it I didn't even know what it was well the par I'm being told move on okay I'm being told all I don't know about it I think that no no those that don't know don't need to know don't need to know I thought it was something to do with my friend Neil okay hopefully you've been nowhere near his perineum but I have to say like that was definitely one of the big shocks for me of becoming a father is how like hands on it all is because obviously I had him as a dad and I was like very much led to believe that the position of father was more of a ceremonial role just you turn up for the ground like a provincial town mayor or something you're sort of there for the grand opening and you pose for some pictures and then off you off you pop but yeah I'm in the trenches but you know to be fair Jack you did throw yourself into this because you try to sort of understand what the pain of child birth would be like it was genuinely very very pain that is the closest I've ever come on television to anal prolapse it was like incredibly incredibly painful yeah no it doesn't please let's move on um let's let it's Friday but let's move on uh Jack some nice news celebrated Elsie's first birthday happy birthday Elsie happy birthday to elsc I mean a year on yeah how are you actually getting on um yeah it's amazing and we the first birthday was incredible it was like a week's worth of planning it was like we were preparing for a presidential inauguration and there was a Disney princess and balloons and her friends her friends other people's babies came and it was yeah we put on a real show she's going to remember none of it but it's like you got to put in the effort you got to put in the effort you haven't mentioned your mother my mother why would I mention my mother because she was so involved with all that yeah she was very helpful with she was a doer originally course she she knows all all about everything and she she was always behind you telling you what to do do this do that now you're coming on television and you're saying oh it was terrible the preal massage or whatever preal peral preal you've got to see this can watch Jack and Michael's new series fatherhood with father on Netflix from Tuesday preal I felt like I just watched thing uh now
