Fantasy Trade Deadline Special & Joe Burrow & Mark Andrews Injuries

hey it's the Harris football podcast with your host Christopher Harris welcome Hey everybody welcome in my name is Chris and that's a silly way to start a podcast I'm shouting at you hello there thank you for listening to this very stupid show I hope you're doing well let's get right into it it is now clear that we as as a society are not allowed to have nice things we were all looking forward to Bengals Ravens as I put it yesterday we were using weapons on both of those teams the first half was pretty fun and I don't know maybe Al Michaels and his deal with the Devil with Amazon has put a curse on the entire Thursday night Enterprise just eventually it eventually turns into a bad game uh The Bangles had put together a strong second quarter drive after getting the ball on their own 18 they go methodically down this is like you know mid late second quarter Joe mixon's really dealing rushing and receiving this notion that Joe Mixon is bad because of his stats I think hopefully you watched it and you realize it's not true Mixon catches a touchdown from Joe burrow to make it 10-7 Cincinnati really felt like it was game on at that point and just burrow on a wildly innocuous looking throw short to Mixon for that touchdown screams in pain grabs his wrist goes down to the turf and he was done and that game was done and we were right back with Al Michaels watching a joyless Thursday night slog as I tweeted last night I'm pretty sure there are some big tough dudes who live in Las Vegas who would like to have a word with Zack Taylor and the Bengals for not putting Joe burrow on their injury list at all especially now we know we didn't until he was hurt that burrow was seen getting off the plane in Baltimore wearing a splint on his wrist there's a reason that the injury list exists it's not so that Pete Carroll can mock us it's because hundreds of millions of dollars get wagered on these games and per usual in late stage capitalism the little guy with no inside info gets completely shafted unless the teams are forced to tell some version of the truth which the Bengals clearly did not do here and if you had the Bengals getting points in this game you have a right to be pissed off yourself and this is to say nothing of the fact that on Baltimore Mo's very first drive Mark Andrews and Z flowers both had big gains Lamar Jackson scrambles for a first down the next play threw it to Andrews wide open over the middle at about the 5 yd line he makes a move to get in the end zone he gets that hip drop tackle pulled on him his ankle gets twisted in that high ankle sprain way that we are all by now familiar with and Mark Andrews is done for the entire season holy moly the Ravens would go on to romp in the second half Jake Browning is for the moment Joe Burrow's backup boy you can't do that again I guess maybe you have to I don't know he wasn't good he didn't stand a chance the Ravens went from basically playing back and being scared of the QB to blitzing like crazy and watching Jake Browning turtle and so while some of my comments here will be about the rest of the game and what I saw and things like that a lot of what I have to say has to be about how we deal with this mess going forward the Bengals are in a huge massive inescapable pickle if they don't have Joe burrow Jamar Chase stayed out there the whole night in the third quarter Browning did throw one Bomb shot to chase down the left side that he caught but was easily shoved out of bounds before he got his feet down and Chase had the stinkiest smelliest basora touchdown ever on a super meaningless drive at the end which will take the touchdown as a Band-Aid but I mean this would be like worse than Aiden oconnell and Devonte Adams you know that level of bad for Chase if can't play to say nothing of the ancillary guys T Higgins if he were to come back you know it's bad for Joe Mixon they might run more but teams are going to do it Baltimore did just plug up the middle and dare them to go deep the offensive ecosystem as they say would be bad but you know with the two main guys you're going to be stuck in that middle space where you know come on Jason Mixon are star players really hard to sit they're awesome are you sitting them for Quinton Johnston and Tai Spears you know the that's going to be hard to do the Ravens lose Mark Andrews and we know that that one is season ending it's a Crusher you know you'll forgive me if I'm not totally convinced that Cambridge massachusetts's own Isaiah likely is uh is I'm suspicious that he's ready to be an every week starter uh you know I I guess everyone was shocked that Andrews was gone and maybe with full practices Isaiah likely can look better but he didn't look very good in this game he drew a pass interference penalty early second quarter also miscommunicated with Lamar Jackson in a in a hurry up drive towards the end of the half had a short catch in a two-minute drill overturned by holding otherwise he was out there 50 snaps I didn't notice him I sure didn't see the Ravens trying to test him out very much third string tight end Charlie Kolar had the most Andrews looking catch early third quarter and listen it's the world's worst position for Fantasy so yes we are going to tell you to add I is likely next week for sure because you know the possibility however small that it turns around and looks better than it did Thursday night that's enough to give likely a shot but the answer for who benefits from Andrew's absence could easily be the receivers it looked like that last night Z flowers he you you deserve better if you started him that was rough he scored a 68 yard touchdown on a screen on an RPO and was called back for a truly shaking shaky holding penalty on Odell Beckham flowers also drew a long pass interference near the end of the half and then third quarter caught a bomb shot just barely out of bounds in the end zone this is why we watch games you know this is the kind of thing we should pay attention to how close Z flowers was to a huge Knight and meanwhile ODB himself had three long gains also had a deep shot where he roasted his man coverage and it would have been a touchdown had Lamar not slightly overcooked it but Odell Beckham left the game with a shoulder injury late so far the Ravens seem to be saying that one's not a huge deal meanwhile Rashad baitman had a deep shot at the end of the first half that was a perfect throw and would have been a touchdown but the DB rose up and knocked it away baitman did catch a Red Zone touchdown very end of the half after Beckham and flowers had gotten them close and Nelson freaking aalor pirated a touchdown that was not a very good throw by Lamar a linebacker tipped it it went right to AG hands and he motored for a score I am not to the point where I would be trusting Rashad baitman or Nelson agor uh with things as currently constituted anyway but Beckham flowers they could be different story as long as they're both healthy based on how it looked here you'd certainly say ODB looks like a a better inheritor of a big Mark Andrew's workload than Isaiah likely though it is only one game and that Baltimore backfield okay we did feel like we got the switch away from Justice Hill and toward Keaton Mitchell as the second back but meanwhile Gus Edwards just runs around like an elephant and scores two more goal line touchdowns the Jamal Williams season is in full effect there was basically one non-t touchdown run that Edwards made into anything it was inside Zone and Kirk Herbst Street was going like wow what a cut great quickness by Gus Edwards and I watched it back the entire left defensive side completely collapsed down all Edwards had to do was not run into the pile and he still needed to basically stop and manually bring the barge around to make that cut he Pitter pattered his feet pretty good and like he does not cut without stopping to his credit he did it but it was not what I would classify as quick but yeah I mean you just keep riding the Gus bus you know you know the trick week is coming right when you don't least expect it where they just don't get carries inside the five but it keeps happening and you know a lot of people made money on Jamal Williams last year the other two Ravens running backs yeah so it turns out every tiny running back does not bust an 80 yard touchdown every time he plays wow Keaton Mitchell got a lot more run in this game and plenty of run while it was competitive in the first half Edwards played 14 snaps Mitchell played 10 and meanwhile Justice Hill wasn't seen in the offensive backfield until the three minute Mark of the second quarter Hill would wind up playing most of the two different hurry up drives at the end of the first half but he was certainly more of an afterthought here one carry one catch Katon Mitchell eight carries one catch and you know mostly frustration stuff between the tackles he he got ragd dolled a little bit and didn't find any room third quarter Red Zone carry he slipped on the grass and fell down late third quarter the Ravens went super spread with double stacked receivers way on the outside on a first and 10 to run a draw for Mitchell so he wouldn't have so much traffic around him and he took that one for 21 yards also got a fourth quarter series entirely to himself with three straight carries but yeah high ceiling bad floor last night we got the floor next week the Ravens have the Chargers on Sunday night and the Bengals are home Steelers but without Joe burrow they're not only not a playoff team but they will struggle to keep those two star players Chase and Mixon relevant today's okay on today's show what a bummer injuries happen and they are always a bummer so first up on the rest of today's show I'm going to talk about the other injuries that we'll have to keep track of going into the weekend and then I'm going to hurry along and get right to course of this weekend to see how their availability shakes out as always speculating and and diagnosing injuries over the internet where you don't know the patient and you haven't inspected him or talked to him is the weirdest Trend in football over the past few years all these literal doctors on Twitter rendering opinions and diagnoses and Recovery timelines and people like taking them seriously I don't know it's truly bizarre all I can tell you is that we're just going to wait and see and and see what the teams say you have surely heard by now that deshun Watson is out for the year and will need shoulder surgery this week the Browns will start rookie Dorian Thompson Beckham but are apparently also talking with Joe flacko uh that's you know I don't know I don't think that'll go very well Justin Fields will start week 11 against the Lions after missing four games with a thumb injury Matthew Stafford is back at practice uh taking first team reps after missing week nine with a thumb injury as well uh seems pretty clear he's going to be out there stealing cheese plates for the Rams Raheem moard has been registered as a limited participant in practices this week he's coming off a buy so that's not ideal uh but we think he's going to play the real question is whether Devon aan will be activated here in the first week he's eligible to come off IR after his knee injury he too has been listed as limited so far we've assumed based on what Mike McDaniel has said that we think he'll be okay to go but you know we got to check in uh khil Herbert is practicing fully this week for the Bears he also has not yet been activated from IR um he was reportedly close last Thursday for that game against the Panthers so at this point again like aan we think he'll be able to play Sunday against the Lions and Deontay Foreman in that same Bears backfield has been Limited in practice so far with an ankle injury no indication he's going to miss uh Alexander Madison did something in practice on Thursday after missing practice Wednesday he could get cleared from the concussion protocol in time for Sunday night's game I assume we'll know that in advance of having to make lineup decisions Ty Chandler would lose a lot of his luster as a potential start outside desperation situations if Madison uh were able to go though I have to say I'm somewhat skeptical given that Madison was diagnosed with a concussion Damen Pierce has missed back-to-back games and still hasn't practiced this week because of an ankle injury if he plays I don't think we like anybody in Houston's backfield this week if he doesn't Devon single can be an okay I mean until last week we would have said emergency my tendency is to still say emergency starter but you can use him if there's no Pierce Antonio Gibson if you were thinking of him as a Hail Mary check in because he has a toe injury and hasn't practiced yet this week Justin Jefferson that's probably the biggest unknown of the week for uh week 11 he's been classified as limited so far in Vikings practices this week as of my recording this we still don't know whether he will be activated from IR in time for Sunday night he will surely be back soon uh but we simply don't know if that's week 11 and of course there would be risk in using anybody coming off of ir who could tweak his hamstring right away again and suddenly give you nothing but I personally wouldn't live with myself if Justin Jefferson went off on my bench KJ Osborne he was concussed two weeks ago against the Falcons and reportedly like Madison has been doing some stuff in practice but he has a week more of recovery time than Madison does so sounds like there's a legit chance Osborne returns and if Jefferson does not return Osborne gets a little bit of fantasy relevance for that Bronco game uh but if Jefferson returns I think we're probably not using KJ Osborne Tyler Lockett hasn't practiced yet this week theoretically I guess could miss this Rams game but feels like Lockett has been on a managed schedule because of his hamstring most of this season and you know that PD Sunshine messes with the injury reports so so far I'm assuming locket will be okay the Texans receiving Corp their box of receiving toys you know Nico Collins has been Limited in practice but he told reporters that he thinks he'll play this week against the Cardinals Robert Woods was limited on Wednesday with practiced INF full on Thursday tank Dell since he came back from his concussion he's been fine but Noah Brown has a knee issue and has not yet practiced this week seems like if anyone in this gang of four uh is in danger of missing this game it might be Noah Brown all we can do is wait obviously you'd be chasing two big games hard to get away from if you use Noah Brown last week but he might not play Jerry Judy got added to Denver's injury report with a hip issue midweek uh midweek Edition is never great all we can do is keep listening to the Broncos beat reporters and see what we see Pat fmuth as of my recording this has not been activated from IR just like those other guys but just like those other guys he's practicing so I think we expect activation to happen for Fri MTH uh in advance of this upcoming game against the Browns and Gerald Everett hasn't practiced yet this week because of a chest injury and I hope all of you out there are not relying all my friends down there and you didn't win that like you're good at poker but that story stuck with him yeah well apparently I'll I'll have that for the rest of my life I'm sure there'll be another song or two about that but yeah there you go all right well uh this is a huge huge moment obviously massive because uh we're here to do our trade deadline special in in in a lot of like uh you you know the standard settings of leagues at Yahoo or wherever else I don't know about ESPN I'm not sure about CBS to be honest but I'm assuming most places are about the same next week midweek is usually about when leagues are are uh have their deadlines La Liga we're a little later than that or the week after that how about your home League next week yeah yeah so I mean it's pretty standard that's why we do it you know we want to have you to do it you're on on Fridays so this is probably the last Friday before a lot of uh uh folks will do their trade deines now of course there's one more piece of data to come because before your deadline because there's one more game for all these teams or a lot of these teams um and so there will probably as we talk be times where you and I might say okay wait till after the game or you know whatever or do it before the game that that is actually relevant in terms of strategy um you know we both did uh players that we wanted to buy when we did the Huggies and baggies um I had Sequon Barkley as a as a by low that feels like you know when Daniel Jones got hurt and Tyrod Tyler got hurt that kind of feels like kind of went I I just bought Barkley in large I just bought him but I bought him real you know I bought him low because the other person's like yeah I don't believe anything good is going to happen and he might be right um I also however had ra Andre as a bold call Finishing top 15 the rest of the way since then he's already 11 I'm not saying I'm just saying you know another thing I wonder Chris during this do you think at any point you'll say not in my league do you think at any point Point that'll come up or no well we're in the same league so maybe not um uh you had a trash bag you thought would redeem himself in the second half Joe Mixon so that's pretty good and then you know Aaron Jones you said wasn't going to bounce back uh and then your lvp the rest of the way was DeAndre Swift so we'll see if some of these names come up I I stayed away from well Barkley I did buy low on Barkley but you got to buy pretty low and probably it's too late to to get the price that I would have wanted on Stevenson so those names aren't going to come up for me we're going to go back and forth It's kind kind of a uh a pointless countdown but uh you know whatever whatever order you want to go what's your number five um I guess we'll go with the cell since I'm pessimistic in life so um I'm curious for some reason I feel like you're GNA have this guy but I could be wrong we we almost talked about it a little before during our warm-ups you know you and I like to stretch and and shatter but um I know that Matthew Stafford is back now and Cooper cup you know what Chris he's been quiet for weeks Stafford's got the full practice in and he's ready to roll wrong so here's here's my feeling everyone on earth now has cut back in this week and and agree this is what you said a second ago I don't disagree that right now he's a wide receiver one you said it and you forget it you have to put him in one of that top 12 spots you picked them for a reason and it's great but I think we just saw what happens when Stafford goes down we already know cups had some injuries I just look at this and I'm saying I'm not taking like whatever you're going to throw at me to deal Cooper cup but I also know if I'm looking to win a title like the risk to have cup on your team right now when you know the Rams are sitting here at three and six what are they going to do if they're five- 10 with a couple of games left like are they really want to jump from that five pick to the nine like they understand how the NBA Works everyone in NFL is learning you sit your guys they're they're not feeling well they're hurt I just want to remove any risk of a Stafford or a cup injury as I head to the playoffs so that is my reason he is my first sell on here okay so uh yeah I'll uh I'll I'll say you know we'll try to gauge the not in my league you know try to gauge the price but like I think it's the most important thing is to put people heads in the head space of the players we're thinking about and I have to say cup didn't make my list as a sell in of himself however in some of my buys he is bait so I on the same page so there are a couple of running backs who were on buys this week and I also know that especially in my league there are people who are like four and six and you have bejan on a buy and I know he came off a nice a nice game but you might also have a desperate team who doesn't want to fall to four- seven so I think if you have the ability to go out and get a guy in a buy like a beon or a Taylor tremendous that to me is the pie in the sky now I'm also okay and this is going to get complicated so just stop me I am fine Step stepping down so to speak from a cup to someone like I don't know AO Samuel someone in that range that I like and maybe I add a lottery ticket like a sharpan a as well but if you want a one for one while I will go down to a running back how about you just give up cup and again I would wait till next week for someone like Pacho versus Philly so wait for the cup good game this week but I would take someone like Isaiah Pacho after this and maybe you get something else thrown in now you think probably selling a little too high on cup for Pacho but I would shoot for a running back higher the thing is I don't understand the market and like you know what I'm going to do I'm going to look at that Fant fantasy pros uh group link because you know we love fantasy pros we have Pat on this week like uh you know I I am interested in checking it out and they have Cooper cup 19 overall so like so like no I don't think you're wrong I I mean if that's how people are going to Value him that's why he's going to come up on M P's probably fine and you're right you want to wait past the Monday night game um but yeah like I think that's fine the the Debo and uh shanet thing I definitely think you'd get that done yeah again to me it's removing the risk I'm also a paranoid player like I've cashed my chips in maybe get the nice week this year he does his 110 this week 110 2 TDS you go this is great they're back hey you interested in taking Cooper cup off my hands right well if you you know if you would do samul and Sharon I think you would definitely get it done you know pending what Debo does cuz he hasn't done anything yet yet right he came back one game and didn't do a ton last week um all right so I have a buy at my five and I will say we're doing something a little different this time from our normal trade and it's because of akos who's a listener who's also a friend of mine who's on the yacht possum softball team here and he suggested that not only should we when we're buying not only should we say this is what we want to get away with this is the least we want to pay but we should also say the most we want to pay so I'm going to try to give kind of a range and of course that's tough to say that you understand what the range is based on me giving two sets of but like at least it's two data points for you to look at and as always I'll put all of our proposed trades on in the show notes so you can take take a look at them um I'm going to I'm going to this is uh buying a not great running back that nobody will be surprised about but I'm going to buy khil Herbert whom I like and who is coming back but hasn't played yet uh and you know he still has a bye which isn't great there's a bad Vikings game in there uh in two weeks that not great there's a bad Browns game the semi-finals of the fantasy like there's there's stuff wrong but that's okay because you know I think he's going to be cheap I don't think people are going to expect the moon for him if you want to trade for him this is like a minor more minor deal and if the if the 10% chance happens and he's a League winner then you know then we've done something good uh fantasy pros has him as their RB 40 rest of the season I have him 27 that's 998th overall for fantasy pros that's 75th overall to me I kind of feel like this is one where I don't need to be super specific about what to offer because you're not offering star players like this isn't a deal for Star players you know my I promise that when we get to my other buys they'll be higher tier um like I'll say the least I would pay like an extra receiver could I get khil Herbert for the neighborhood of like Maris Brown yeah I think you could I think people are so like yeah I don't know what's going on this team's bad Foreman's been going wild yeah who knows with Roshan I think that you can probably get that done and then the most I said was like uh an I don't know an extra running back can you think of a of a running back who you're you're kind of like well you know I was I was trying to put my my head around like um because my ranks are different than than the than the world's but like I'm gonna suggest Jerome Ford a bunch and I have nothing against Jerome Ford that's probably about the most I would pay and that's real he's a real player that's real I think a lot of people would say whoa you would give up Ford for him right because I feel like Ford's upside probably isn't great right now does that make sense to me like to you like KH Herbert's upside I'm saying like it's probably higher it's probably not that likely to work out but if it happens he's an rb1 by the end of the season you know I don't see a situation where Ford is more than like a annoying low-level orb2 Flex the rest of the season yeah I get it all right next on your list um we'll go I guess with Pat momes is he on yours he's not so you and I think have discussed this um Kansas City debacle a great length they were on a list last week I think of our surprises their offense seems broken I think we joked around and said if you didn't if you just started watching football now you'd say man do you take CJ stra or do you take momes like I don't know this Mahomes guy he really does some silly plays sometimes they don't go deep are you buying him or selling him I'm buying him I'm buying him now I have him down as a buy and look they're coming out of uh they're coming out of that bye and I think if you're going to make a play you have to do it now before they play the Eagles who have the second worst pass D bu statistics if you're making a shot at momes or Kelce in my opinion it has to be this week because we know what happens if they come out of the buy and you want to wait and see something and they throw out one of these 30 you know it's 3834 Mahomes 380 and four and kelse like goodbye that's it this is why I drafted them in round three or round one so I think the play has to come now um I just feel Chris that when the playoff comes you don't like drafting these guys that high although I've taken quarterbacks in most of my leagues but when you're in weeks 15 and 16 and 17 I feel so comfortable going into these playoff games when you have momes and Herz and Allen as opposed to like no that's cool you know I got the you know insert goof at like on the road and you're like I think it'll be good and then you finally get the eight-point game and you go yeah I'm out of the league it's over yeah so anyway here's my question to you I just mentioned this guy before can I can I give you a smoking red hot in the MVP discussion maybe CJ Stroud with a receiver like DeAndre Hopkins I mean hopkins's name is gonna come up yes yeah I bet that I bet that would get it done that's the get away with it that's the that's the low range of what you want to pay right yeah yeah now here's my next question yeah we just saw this guy explode again last week I own him in league if I said Justin Herbert do I have to add much to that like would I guess my question is would the person who has Mahomes just say I'm done with him or do I even have to throw in like I don't know an Adam thielen the Pickins like something like that or would that get it done um I don't know why they would take on the trouble of Herbert if you if they you know like Herbert has some of the same issues on occasion um how about the most you would pay what's the most you would pay for Mahomes so I tried to think about this because it's tricky when it's a quarterback so I'm like what type of running back or receiver like if I offered someone DJ more from momes I think given given the team's needs right they lucked into Stroud they have Mahomes and Stroud they're dead at receiver they really could use that high level wide receiver too I could see it working out yeah or again maybe I said him before maybe you have goth and Mahomes Maybe you have one of those quarterbacks you took in as your backup who pros has him wide receiver 25 the rest of the year I'm like you know it's the three touchdown game that's sticking in everybody's mind right and that the possibility that will Lis is is a more aggressive player and therefore even if it's not perfect for the Titans it could work out better for Hopkins I said it yesterday it just scared me I did him INF flexual healing like I it just scares as the 51st overall player I go oh there's people out there telling you you know like they all have hn ranked higher for the rest of the season and the receivers you're talking about are like auk's 23 Waddles 28 like I thought you were going to pair him with a receiver so here's the other thing I'll say there's guys I don't want to name yet but without spoiling my my my my top person but I'll say I think you can find yourself in that realm like I work my way down into the auk into wad into Deo what I'm getting at is that good receiver 2 class in your league I'm telling you this Chris as in I'm in a league where there's a lot of teams depleted at running back and while they may not think the most you know pun intended of mostard you can probably go ahead and get a receiver off their team just because there's people who are literally starting like I'm starting chuba hubard every week like I'm just sitting there going oh guess so so ex like this is definitely should almost go without saying but let's say it like for sure you know just because I'm I'm kicking a little bit of a you know fit saying no you can't get that not my league like that doesn't mean somebody shouldn't try it I just don't think the market is going to agree with us on Connor like I've just been higher on Connor all year I've I'm higher on him this week we talked about it with Scott it just feels like I think you're going to have to especially that can't be the most that you would offer that can't be the most like this is where I get to where I'm like at what point is it become risky like does Devon Anan coming back now like is that a risk to go out and get DK doing that it's a risk yeah you could wind up eating it but that's the question for you who wants DK I don't really feel great about trading DK for in your league Bean straight up on the buy so the person saying I'm done with it just give me bejon on the bu I don't want anything to do with po anymore I mean I consider that to be a lesser offer I I would prefer Evans to Bean I guess depends on what you need position wise but I sure if you want to like I don't think that's a no-brainer because if I'm wrong about Pard and I very well could be beon could explode but like I mean you're you're selling low on bejon too right he's he's a little better last week but um so okay I mean if you think that's I think offering Mike Evans uh is like a better offer than beon frankly but doesn't matter doesn't matter what I think like we're just putting it this is the range that we would want to pay uh to to get Pard and and no I don't think I would pay Keenan Allen I think that's too high I think that's the price I would pay if he was if Pard have been playing well and clearly he's not been paying well playing well um I had a couple honorable mentions um selling courland Sutton even though I don't know if people can be tricked by stats but if there's anyone in your league that could be tricked by stats not that I feel like it's a must sell but just like I might kick the tires um I was thinking of maybe buying Stefan Diggs because again the fantasy pros rank is low people are getting scared I feel like this could be the the only moment but then again that's a bad schedule to bills they have the Jets this week and a few weeks they have the Chiefs and after that they have the Cowboys these are not defense pass rushes that you want to be and then the Eagles are is in there too like you can usually throw against Eagles but it's a hard pass rush so I almost thought about it um any honorable mentions for you you know I put him on rossan Brown on there as a buy but it's just I've liked him all year I almost picked him in round one this year but it was just ridiculous um I just think he's safe you know what you're getting out of that Detroit team I'm trying to get teams I know there's stability on players I should say stability mention he's stability but it's just exp he's expensive as hell right he's be expensive as hell yeah I tried to think about the tight ends and I'm just like I know we already kind of discuss the Chiefs so it's it's yeah I didn't want to put that on there all right well I hope folks find
