DJI Mini 4 Pro | Is It REALLY TOO WINDY To Fly?

Do you have a problem with wind? the DJI manuals state that the highest wind speed you can fly the mini3 pro or mini4 Pro in or even the mini 4K is 10.7 m/s for the air3 and mavic series it's 12 m/s but how do you know how that feels in this video we're going to be talking about a foolproof way for you to know that you're going to be safe flying in the wind and also a couple of tips along the way as well for flying in adverse conditions and you'll also find out how long it takes me before I'm make a really childish joke about wind so you can check your weather app How can you tell if you've got wind? or UAV forecast to see what the wind conditions are going to be like or there are other ways of doing it I tend to have a look at the trees in in my garden or have a look at a flag pole which has got a flag on it in my local area and generally that kind of gives me a good idea of what the wind Speeders like but then I realized that I'd been missing out on perfectly normal flying days because I was just getting and that is This shows how much wind you have... where one of these comes in it's an anom an an um wind speed meter and it can tell you the exact wind speed all you have to do is just hold it up for a minute or so and it'll tell you whether it's safe to fly or not the other thing to remember is that 10.7 m/s is surprisingly fast at the moment this is about four and this drone is doing perfectly fine in it it's actually amazing how resistant these mini drones are to the wind yes they will wobble about a little bit if you get a a really This measures the strength of your wind... strong wind but generally they're pretty good so before I get on to dealing with strong wind and no it's not eat less beans let's take a look at how this model works this is the ts301 from Top TZ and yes they have supplied this to me but I have had other anomers and none of them have been as good as this I I wouldn't promote it otherwise just send it back onoff button and you can say it's already measuring the wind this button here can change whether you want to just measure the maximum wind speed minimum wind speed average wind speed or if you long hold it it just tells you the current wind speed I'm not quite sure why anyone would need to know the minimum wind speed perhaps for kite flying or sailing or something like that we have a hold button here so if you're measuring the wind speed in real time you can press that and that just holds your reading for you in case you're some sort of nerd and wants to measure the wind speed at specific times and you can change your units from m/s to kilm per hour to knots to miles per hour to feet per minute and feet per second you've actually got a temperature gauge here you can change from centigrade to fahrenheit and a relative humidity gauge and for those of you that have done your part 107 or your A2 CFC you'll know how temperature and relative humidity can actually affect the flight of your drone and your battery life both of these gauges are actually very quick to react unlike some other anomers that I've had which normally take about 10 minutes to a climatize the unit is powered by three AAA batteries which top TZ actually supplies not just your Cheapo grey market batteries grippy bits on the side so you don't lose it oh and don't worry if you accidentally leave it on and Chuck it in your bag it automatically switches off after about 10 minutes to conserve battery life now as you've probably guessed top TZ did send me this unit free of charge but no money changed hands and I just said I'd talk about it on a video they didn't want to see the video beforehand or anything although I have had it quite a long time and they did kind of bug me about making the video this morning I have to say I've had other anomers they've either been too big or too inaccurate this one's just right for me fits in my bag fine and it does seem to be very reactive to the conditions which is great if you want to pick one up yourself my affiliate link is in the description below and stick around to the end and I'll give you a code for 10% off by five we've got to stop Jeff Bezos making these knob shaped Rockets it's ridiculous gives us more room in the sky as well Why will this help me with my wind problems? H so why would you want one of these well if you're new to the Hobby it just gives you the confidence to know when it's safe to fly or not similarly if you just fly fly your drone a couple of times a year also if you're flying your drone commercially and of course you will have insurance if it's too windy on the day that you're at your client's place you can actually show them the wind speed there because if you fly beyond the manufacturer's specification in all likelihood you're not going to be covered by your insurance and that's not a good thing I'm also considering recording the wind speed and adding it to my risk ass I'm also considering recording the wind speed and putting it in my notes on my risk assessment for any commercial jobs that way you've got a little bit of extra credibility in that risk assessment hey guess what I forgot to say while I was up there just want to ask you if you're enjoying this content please hit like and do consider subscribing and yes I am filming this A couple of tips to help you with your wind the following day but I'm wearing the same t-shirt that's for continuity purposes and that's the sort of thing that if you become a subscriber you will rarely see on this channel thanks very much now I said I had a couple of tips for flying in windy conditions the first is that the wind speed at ground level isn't the same as the wind speed higher up it's actually faster higher up A good rule of thumb for this is that the wind speed at 120 m is about 1 and 1/2 times the speed of the wind at ground level it's not a completely linear scale but that's kind of how it works so I may think that a wind speed of 8 m/ second at ground level is fine for flying my Mini 4 Pro because it says in the manual 10.7 m/s maximum wind speed but actually if you work it out I can only go up to 80 M before I risk actually going over that stated 10.7 m/s basically with Mini 4 Pro you should be safe if the ground speed is about 7 m/ second barring any massive gffs of wind of course the second tip is if it's especially windy make sure you're flying into the wind on your outward Journey on the flight it's a lot easier for the Drone to come back to you when the batter is low rather than it having to fight against the wind the last thing you wanted to do is to auto return and Fight Against the Wind and then end up with a forced Landing somewhere especially in a high wind now you have to be really careful about your battery life because the Drone in a high wind is constantly moving if it's trying to stay still in a 10 m pers second wind it's actually trying to fly into that wind at 10 m/ second so it's constantly moving constantly draining that battery if you A special offer to help you with your wind issues get a strong wind warning on your controller make sure you bring your drone down in altitude and you should be a lot safer bring it back in and wait for the wind to die down a bit thanks to Ricky at top TZ for supplying this unit I was also supplied an extra unit as a giveaway for my subscribers and I'll be doing that in the future because I didn't realize quite how complicated it is to do a giveaway on YouTube use the links in the description below and use this discount code to get 10% off bye
