now on to the biggest story of the week the Patriots officially named their starting quarterback coach Mayo announced to the media on Thursday that Jacobi brassette would be our starter for the season now when someone in the media asked coach Mayo if that could change he said it's possible but he does not want to go into the season planning on changing the starting quarterback now I was a bit disappointed to see this news as you know I've been an advocate recently for Drake May to be named the starting quarterback uh frankly I think both Drake May and Joe Milton the third outplayed jacobe in the preseason May especially gave our team the best chance to win in those pre-season games now that being said as I mentioned in this episode the offensive line is a mess it does not take a genius to observe that so the thinking might be let's not have our number three pick destroyed his rookie year behind a weak offensive line really though Drake may could be starting within a few weeks you know unless brette really turns things on during the regular season I don't see him lasting very long you know if our offensive line can be a little more competent the coaching staff might feel more confident about playing May but right now jacobe is the starter and fans are understandably divided now my point of view is that yes I'm disappointed but I am not a football coach I am far from it I'm a fan who loves his team and wants to win but I don't go in there day in and day out and watch these players you know I don't have that perspective I don't have experience coaching any level of football so until I've seen this team play I'm going to trust coach Mayo I'm going to hope for the best because I want him to succeed I want this team to succeed I have realistic yet optimistic expectations so we really have to just wait until we can see the product in a real game in week one and frankly the Bengals are not a strong team so it's not unreasonable to say we have a shot at winning our first game but I don't have a crystal ball until I've seen this team play a real game I am not going to judge them too harshly
