CFB25 Dynasty Year 4 Week 2 - #10 FAU @ Bowling Green

welcome everyone to do El Perry Stadium home of the Bowling Green Falcons where the fans have been prepping and fired up since early in the day for this one what a game and what potential drama we have in store you've seen this script before top 10 team goes into a quadron of emotion on the road and just hopes to be able to get out and tell about it as we'll see the the number 10 team in the country the Florida Atlantic owls taking on a team from the back the bowling green falcon for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started and the Falcons will put total rathera to crank us up not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch so the Ford Atlantic owls offense will have the first possession of the game and there he is to this team's fans he is a heroic figure he is the guy who can lead them to the promised land this guy has been in big games in big moments and he's delivered for his football team it never seems like a situation is just too big for him this obviously is a huge game I cannot wait to see this guy complete finds that and he's got four out to the 29 sometimes people say if you're good enough what's a big deal about going on the road well if you're not careful you might find out spot like this one guys yeah no doubt about it this is a hostile environment and you know you're going to be getting the opponent's aame for this one they've circled this one all off SE so they better be ready to bring it today and the hardest thing to do in college football is to go on the RO everything about it changes and you want to shut this crowd up early you don't want to give them belief because if it starts to build throughout the game look out finds a tie end it's a game of first downs and they've got one out to their own 37 David that is a great security blanket for a quarterback to have a tight end to make those conversions dang right find the big fella on Third and short Dependable clutch nice hands first down and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down FAU racing to the [Applause] line looking for a physical attack from the gun now that's what you try to the defense limit those damages when they run the football get them on the ground short gains to set your defense for positive situations down the to the air it's Whitaker got the back over the middle and oh he was Off to the Races after the catch and they finally drag him down nice job by the running back there on that angle route against Zone coverage he wasn't in a hurry he was able to sort of find the soft spot in the defense and just gear down make himself an easy taret looking to move it through the air trying to escape and get it himself this sophomore quarterback learning when to use his legs to move the chains well he does a really nice job buying time and I love the awareness there understanding no one's open down field knowing where the sticks are and he's able to use his athleticism to get that first down the give to the back and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play stopping the run is very high on every defensive coordinator's list making the team onedimensional nice job stuffing the run on that play right there they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 now the quarterback changing the original play call looking to throw on second down how about that play a hand in there and force the incompletion good job on defense getting a hand on it tipping it up in the air they weren't able to pick it off but they do Force the ninth play of the drive coming up but they'll have to convert third and long to keep it going fast motion from the offense on Third and long he has to throw for it Rush coming in hot and they got him at the 29 and on fourth down here comes the field goal unit this is going to be a 46 yd field goal attempt and this one splits the upright and the first points of the day come on that I'll tell you this is not an easy place to play on the road especially at night time this crowd they get loud that's the way it's been so far but they have a nice drive to open it up they're able to execute they put themselves in go range knock it through the uprights they did exactly what they needed to do taking a three nothing lead here early on the road that's impressive so for Atlantic offense headed onto the field our first look at them today a big challenge for both of these quarterbacks Jesse is dealing with a ball Hawking free safety on the other side oh you're right reys QBs better be good with their eyes better not stare down wide receivers in this one because if you float the ball down the middle of the field that's getting picked guys are going to be right in the middle of the field flying all over the field and quarterbacks will make sure that they are locked in and not throwing the ball near those guys Anderson will throw unloads to the wide out and it's picked off looking for more room the 20 inside the T and he is taken it all the way back touchdown Florida Atlantic that's one of those way you put a highlighter beside it can really swing a game 100% there's a couple plays a game where you go back and you look like man that changed the whole outcome what an unbelievable play by the defense not just to get the turnover to score the points off of it they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six zero and it'll be a touch back the ball will come out to the 25 yd line Bowling Green has it back and they'll send the offense onto the field well the good news is they threw a touchdown pass last time it was just to the wrong team Jesse well that's an unfortunate part of the game for quarterbacks but guess what they do have it so you've got to be able to turn the page here and Lead this offense well I think you know this defense is going to be aggressive they're going to jump routes they're going to play aggressive you got to take advantage of that maybe this time to your advantage he wants to take the top off it's complete a huge pick up oh what a big play for this offense as they get it to the 33 yd line the Falcons moving quickly to the line the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D coming out on first down with the play fate fires to the tight end they get him down after he makes the catch I'll tell you I love the play call on first down here you're just trying to find an easy completion and the shortest throw on the field for the quarterback is finding your biggest Target and that's the tight end nice job fires to the big fella and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down they pick up the first against Z coverage the biggest key there is the quarterback understanding that a it's Zone but B what kind of zone is it is it one high safety is it two high safeties and then you know instinctively where your best throw where your highest percentage completion is based on what type of Zone coverage it's going to be this offense has a second down looking to throw it again fires to the middle a strike down Field Works his way to the four yd line and they'll have it first and goal on the doorstep of cashing it in for the offense Anderson wants to throw nice defensive way to get a hand in there and knock it away this defense is making life hard on the quarterback early in the game we're only in the first quarter they've already got a pick and that time they SWAT another one away man they are breaking on the ball leaves it with the back he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two and they've been able to within two yards now will they try to throw it in for the score they'll try to pass it in on Third and goal and the pressure gets him back at the 8 yd line now on fourth down they'll send out the field goal unit from the left hash and this distance ought to make that angle pretty easy to [Applause] handle and it's right down the boulevard we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up Baylor found a way to pull out a victory it wasn't vintage Bears football today those bu fans won't remember this one forever but they will remember it was a dou the circle of life in college football where one team moves on feeling like kings and the other heads home licking its wounds and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there he stopped just a chain link or two away from the first down and sets them up beautifully here four wide receivers spread across the field on second and inches quarterback on the keeper he'll move it up to the 37 yd line and it'll be a first down in an offense if you're going to be successful running the ball and I don't care who it is carrying it you got to have receivers that are willing to block you got got to have guys that are willing to get involved how about theer he's taking the shot snags it inside the 20 touchdown fa reeled it in and just made the house call a big question mark for this offense coming into the Year guys who could score touchdowns who are going to be their biggest Playmakers on offense this guy scored in the first game he's off to a great start in this one with that touchdown this guy looks like the real deal ready to try the point and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they cap things off with a big play up top going 63 yds to the house and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 time for one more St before the end of the quarter Anderson will throw trying to get to him and he's feeling the Heat and he will go down final play of the first quarter and not the way he wanted to end it we've reached the end of the quarter FAU has the lead they came out and jumped on them early in the first let's take a break and look at the first quarter stats this could be a pivotal moment in this game as we open the second period and they try to find a way to answer so they'll try to make up some of that ground on second down from the 16 they'll try the Run that's what you expect from seni don't give them any extra yards great tackle there you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 and the quarterback is sacked there are penalty Flags down but this might be doubly bad for the offense I think the penalty might be on that so the penalty will not be enforced the defense declines and stands on the result of the play and the Falcons will call on their punt team come [Applause] on he only needs a sliver of daylight little pressure on the coverage team there and they'll stop him at the 47 yd line FAU has it back as the owls offense will go back to work DAV they' love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touch and they really were in a nice as well I'd love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heels line getting set on second down back to pass it's Whitaker they're trying to get to it and this looks disastrous oh down he goes a huge loss on that play I'm not positive but that first down Mar might in the next County on Third and long a check down would be the last resort and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete fa will send out the punt team doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the [Applause] punt tries to find a little more Running Room on that return but he'll be stopped at the 36 Bowling Green has it back the Falcon off go to work they've been pretty much stifled on offense so far David only able to muster three points in their previous three drives and you got to find a way to open this up and create some explosive plays the passing game is obviously the easiest way Jesse put more speed on the field find those guys down the field you know they're frustrated too because they felt like there were some matchups they could take advantage of to get some points on the board early in this one they just haven't been able to connect on those opportunities but I like David's idea maybe move some guys and see if you can create some better one-on-one matchups all right well look I know the defense was feeling real good about their run de coming into this one and how they've been playing up to this but finally David the off breaks they finally generates something positive on the and I can't tell you how easy it is when you're going to throw the ball consistently and I know it I'm going to pin my ears back and I'm going to get to the quarterback it makes life really easy on the defensive line but when you can have balance now the defense doesn't know what's coming they need more of this if they're going to be successful on offense the Falcons are in the hurry up and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down dances away from one gets away from one finds room and this defense has it work cut out to get this dude on the ground he was shedding serious tackles on his way to picking up the first Anderson wants to throw getting some heat good job to avoid the negative play and just get rid of that thing got to give the defense a lot of credit man because they've come into this hostile environment they've quieted the crowd down with some of the plays they're making they've got a nice lead right here and they're making it hard for this and he'll take it in and house it touchdown Falcons score we'll see if that breathes a little fire into and you see it all the time right you get that score you get that energy the crowd gets involved and the defense got to get out and get you a stop this was step one get that back in the ball and he did get that extra point through the slippery surface no problem about to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown catch here the FAU offense will return to the field last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels got three on first down it's second and seven power football with the Run he'll push his way out to the 38 pick up of three well man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack from the gun on third [Music] down oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down now FAU will send out the punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and nobody able to handle that punt they'll let it bounce and roll out of bounds Bowling Green has it back and they'll send the offense onto the field they'll throw it on first down got his man out of the back field and that defensive penetration gave him no chance and he is rid out of what can they pull out of the Playbook here on second and long from the 17 pocket starts to collapse and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's incomplete man the defense smells blood in the water you can tell they are getting to this quarterback over and over and over they've already sacked him a couple times they're just winning up front they almost got another sack on that last point and that's not the way they drew it up it's incomp complete and the Falcons will punt it away on fourth down this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and the punt team able to smack him to the ground FAU has it back as the ows offense will go back to work the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last Drive someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum well I'll tell you what just watching this QB in the Run game he's going to break one at some point in this game he's going to break a home run defense did a nice job getting him down there but this guy I'm telling you he's just a play away from taking it to the house keep letting this guy do his thing stopped at the 4 sixy line but give him 10 yard and the first down QBs when you see Zone coverage man can you manipulate defense when you have a good pocket and you've got time to throw he had a little bit of time to throw you can move guys with your eyes that drag comes wide open for good throw good catch first down as a tight end if you're going to be good in the passing game you've got to be able to feel the windows when defenses Play Zone coverage and he did a really good job of that right there he didn't rush he didn't hurry he took his time found the soft spot and gave his quarterback an easy place to throw the football and gang tackling on this dude is a good idea they needed it but he still got the first down and you know big chunks like this don't happen unless you commit to the Run game you got to get those big boys up front into the game understanding I want to knock people off the football create some holes like you do here for my running back make the game EAS yeah this coaching staff they're uping into a rhythm now they're letting him drive off the ball first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage brought to the ground but not before getting enough for the first down well they needed two yards for that first down the running back doing just enough to make sure he keeps this drive alive fa working with a fresh set of [Applause] downs wide out in motion try to get the edge with a quick touch pass and how about the efficiency on that one it'll bring up second and four going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone hand off from the shotgun and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive the owls line it up with a first and goal [Applause] motion from the offense quick pass on the Fly motion really nice well on these little push passes timing is so important trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of Ste when gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of the spot looking to throw it's Whitaker can't make the grab as he was going for six right there well that last incompletion is a good example of why your timing has to be so good as a quarterback because the windows they open and they close so quickly in this part of the field was to throw for it on Third and goal and he wanted the score badly but the defense wrestles him down at the two we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break and here comes the field goal unit for the second time tonight and that is no good and the margin is still seven after the Miss guys and that's just the Chip Shot that's just a field goal they got to make Bowling Green has it back the Falcon offense will go to work so late in the half this is really an opportunity David maybe to swing the momentum in their favor dang right there's no time to be concerned we're a little bit down listen I just think this is a point with the offense that they can prove like we're here we're going to create something now we build on in the second half coach said all week he wanted to be aggressive this is a great opportunity to show that right now at the end of the first half try and generate some momentum score some points before going into half time a timeout is called as this off tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half and he's got it inside the 25 and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one tackle is finally made he'll come out throwing on first down that one will be incomplete and we are down to 10 seconds to go running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break Anderson will throw and the heat will get home and the quarterback goes down at the they'll use a timeout right before halime maybe time for one or two more plays and it's third down but they're going to go ahead and try the field goal and try to get points before the break right down the bouevard it's good so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer no return coming he'll call from the fair catch they'll have just enough time to get one more snap before the half [Applause] he's going to pass he'll take the Deep shot he's got it on the right boy he almost finished his half with a bang and are they lucky to get him sto they're eager to head to that dressing room right now at the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halim update fellas you've been calling a First Rate game so far there in northwest Ohio today each of these two offenses has looked like well oiled machines but it doesn't take a genius to figure out these two passing attacks have run circles around these defenses man or Zone nothing seems to be working and I'm not sure that defensive coordinator is going to be able to figure things out here at halim and with that let's send it back to the guys at do L Perry Stadium FAU will try to kick it deep and break the seal on this second half and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 Bowling Green has it back and they'll send the offense onto the field if they're going to get on top in this game they're going to have to find a way to get the running game going in the second half agree so it can create some more balance some more unpredictability I feel like this defense has got a good beat on what they're doing especially if they don't mix it up a little bit so I do look for a little second half running the football this and I think the thing Dave is they just got to be more physical I don't think this is a scheme question about trying different run plays I think it's up to the Big Fellas up front they've just got to and they got him for the sack and you could easily argue the biggest reason this team is trailing in the second half is because they have not been able to protect their quarterback tonight they've already given up five sacks in the game and you just saw another one right there this offensive line has had problems all night long and the big fella couldn't elude the cornerback who makes a short tackle I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job for him to head up the screen no sir not this time the defense was there and ready for that one the Falcons send out the punt unit a high kick trying to pin them deep this is a spot you see many returners try to take a chance but not this time the fair catch just inside the 40 the FAU offense will return to the field looking for a productive play on first down the give to the back One Step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it wants to throw it's Whitaker unloads to the right and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and deep looked like the offense had a chance for a big play there but the running back just could not reel that ball in they'll come to the line at the 42 facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass he's right on Target and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down this offense is completely confident in their ability to get one yard they'll go for it on fourth down give to the big fullback tackled after picking up the first down not even a moment of anxi that decision fourth and one y we're going well this isn't even a discussion in the headset like this is automatic autopilot like fourth and one we're going for it every single time they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one so first down didn't exactly go according to plan let's see what they can dial up on second down I got him right where I want okay I'm going to throw the football now I can get back in shotgun forget the running game stuff we're going to play a little pitching catch and see how good that secondary is the option look a solid pick up there before the defense is able to make the [Applause] stop a third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass tight endend finds a soft spot and that was some kind of collision between a couple of big bodies there and he stopped from getting the first down they really have no choice here this is a no-brainer you go for it here on this fourth down hand off to the fullback wrestled to the ground after picking up the first down and once you get in this range in the football field do you depend on your kicker do you go for it I think on fourth down I think you go for a long field goal a lot harder attempt I like the offense going for here in this situation coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you could run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that from the gun GB on the inside they knock him down at the 21 it's a pick up of five yard on the play and enough for a first down and the owls come to the line with a new set of downs [Applause] he'll keep it himself that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five nice job playing assignment football by that defensive knowing what my job is not letting that quarterback get out get loose making a good play and most importantly being there in the right spot and getting him on the ground they get him down but this offense is set up first and goal from the nine defense is backed up shadow of the goal post trying to defend their own End Zone touch pass on the Jet Sweep and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pick up and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only All-American in this booth David if I were allowed to push passes when I was playing quarterback I'll tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead defense BEC more in of the field situations go situations they got to be dowed in that's two big stops in a row by this defense forcing a third and goal putting some pressure now on this offense on Third and short and field goal range they dial up the pass play quarterback was trying to get through his pression there was just simply nobody he opened couldn't make it accurate enough throw it ball Falls incomplete Now setting up a big decision here on Fourth what a disappointment no good after the miss the lead is still fouring green has it back the Falcon off will go to work that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to Sol the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six completion to the right and this one will be stopped for No Gain offense breaks the Huddle on third down Anderson wants to throw pressure coming just throws it away on third down I don't think you can give up on a play like that and the Falcons will try to pin them back with the [Applause] punt he gets a block excellent coverage and tackle that time and that's how the third quarter comes to a close we' reached the end of the quarter FAU has the lead lead they're sitting in a strong position here with the lead let's take a look at our game summary not only is the scoreboard on their side but so too is time as we open the fourth back at it to open the quarter with this first down play wide receiver coming across in motion quick pass on the jet motion he's brought down but he went backwards after that completion not the way they had it drawn up got to give the defense crit anticipating they knew that this offense had this play in their back pocket they knew about the speed of this wide receiver in different ways they were going to try to get him involved everybody on defense on the same page playing together I love it listen running backs are not just running backs here you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football a great job sneaking out of Back Field getting the football letting them get some positive yards they're facing a third down here from the tight end they'll try to run for [Applause] it down and they'll spot it at the 42 it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now now is trying to do last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 leaves it with the back he breaks the tackle and a really short game before he gets a whole bunch of company from the defense if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum back to pass Whitaker finds his tight end he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short this is one of those unique situations in a game as a head coach you're trying to feel the momentum and what's your confidence in your quarterback because you've got fourth you're in field goal range but you've got the weapons to get one more completion and ice this thing so do you kick the field goal or do you go for it yeah in fourth and inches you know what's coming you know going to run the quarterback sneak but it's one of the hardest plays in football to stop you got to find a way to dive from the defensive line spot and stop the feet of the quarterback and they couldn't do it and listen they only needed inches that's what makes it so difficult to stop at this point of the game the offense has the lead the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football so he's going back he's looking at his playlist and he's saying which runs work the best for me in this game what can I lean on right here to make sure we win this one [Applause] they'll keep it on the ground he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple you know the runner just has to have a little bit more patience bounce that thing outside a little too early and as a result lost yards it's a makeable field goal from the 29 yd line let's see how aggressive they are on Third and long [Applause] from the gun wants to pass he's going to take off he gets the job done picking up the first down then getting down that's so frustrating I I got you in the perfect situation I get you in third and long more predictable I know it's going to be a pass and then Houdini pulls the rabbit out of the Hat makes something happen scrambles around gets the first down goodness gracious this guy is so good think they can impose their will here with the run to the right they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I'll tell you this defensive end not only can he pass rush but he can play the run as well you see him beat the offensive lineman there trying to block him and get in the back field to make that tackle for loss that was impressive they'll run it trying to drain time off the clock they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and you can tell that play went nowhere from the start it was definitely a great play by that Defender oh yeah he got the back field so quick the running back had absolutely no chance gets it out quickly and he laid the lumber to stop him from getting the first down so here we are on fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the world he splits to the upright and puts three on the board well that's a huge kick right there because now the opp has to score a touchdown here in the fourth quarter that put so much pressure on the opponent now nice job by the Special Teams going out and executing in a big moment so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it [Applause] away and he's going to bring it out of the end zone he was hoping for something a little more Dynam think that they get him on the ground at the 20 Bowling Green has it back and they'll send the offense onto the field boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah the last Drive nothing really click no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this shoots it to the left and they can't make the connection listen I would get rid of that thing fast too if I've been sacked that many times today they're coming every angle everybody's coming they' got to me the whole day can somebody please get my back certain moments it's fourth down now and this likely the final snap before the two-minute warning we reached the two-minute warning and the defense needs to come up with a stop to close this thing out trailing by a touchdown this fourth down opportunity is gargantula they stop him short of the marker and they'll turn it over on Downs I like it this defense plays aggressive on Fourth and short and they are rewarded figured they would run the football they did nice job getting some penetration and stopping that fourth down play from the shotgun now here's an inside GI quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense you got to believe they just want to run it take care of the football and keep that clock moving on second and nine give to the running back and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible inside the 15 first and 10 from the 14 they'll ride the hot hand and he's almost to that first down marker there saying he's a little bit short they might want
