DUI blitz this Labor Day Weekend

hey guys yeah so we're hearing from Triple A they say that from right now so noon to 6:00 that's going to be some of the busiest times on the roads and of course we've got all that traffic that's buzzing there behind us we're also looking ahead there is a DUI Blitz that will be happening later as troopers look to crack down on unsafe driving unsafe driving and making sure that people get home safely well it may be the unofficial end of summer you got to love a long weekend Triple A says you can expect to hit traffic end of Friday beginning of Saturday stretch it's going to be really really packed on the roads UDOT says some of the areas they're keeping a close eye on include I-15 Northbound and Davis County suy County southbound and all the Big Adventures happening in southern Utah and Beyond where we really see some backups on Friday as people are making their way down to St George and um Las Vegas Nei we could see up to 15 to 20 minutes of additional delay there southbound and Nephi while UD do Crews take a break for the long holiday weekend there will still be Lane restrictions and splits so even if you don't see the workers out there we're going to uh try to keep traffic flowing as much as possible but you still have to slow down in those construction zones speaking of slowing down Troopers are not only focusing on Speeders but any kind of impaired driving that could cause a crash this includes uhp and the Department of Public Safety urging everyone to plan for a safe and sober ride home distracted driving aggressive driving we've seen a significant increase specifically in single vehicle crashes just in July alone uh's Lieutenant nef says there were 49 deaths on the highway 29 of those were single vehicle crashes all related to drowsy driving distractions speed and the like the freeway not a free-for-all to excuse bad driving behavior we do see a lot on our freeways in the summer because people are traveling a lot more they're going on vacations um there's a lot more chances for people to drive fast and you know lose focus on the speed that they're going that's he says that A good rule of thumb is that if you're able to switch drivers if you're going a longer distance this is a good time to do so also if you are the only one that can be behind the wheel making sure that you're taking extra breaks getting food and water all those things to make sure you are alert behind the wheel guys all right car we want everybody to be safe out there thank you
