you have the opportunity to to play a Premier League club and um yeah for us uh a a wonderful a wonderful evening in store I think whenever you play against the top teams you always get instant feedback um from them and uh yeah in terms of our our develop as a team and also for some of our young players like Samson toid and Bradley inine and Milton Oni and they're kind yeah all boys that are between 18 19 and 20 just just brilliant for for for their development as well you talked about those those new players and the young players that are in your your squad how quickly is are you being able to to integrate so many new players after 11 signings coming in this summer well so far 11 signings yeah that's right I think um yeah for for Nikki and I we joined the club in in January and the team had had a diff were in a difficult moment I think they' lost 11 out of 12 um we we managed to to to stay in the division which was which was which was the plan but of course when you finish 22nd in in League two you you anticipate um quite a lot of change probably we didn't expect as much change as we've actually had we we we've probably sold some of our younger players um which has been yeah great for the club I mean we have a brilliant Academy at Colchester so so that's been great but we've been able to use that money to reinvest and and Robbie calling the owner is um has been brilliant in in allowing us to do that and yeah lots of change which is which is never never easy and and of course we've we've had preseason together just trying to bring bring bring the group together both on the pitch and off the pitch and we've had a had a good start to the season in terms of performance we were pretty frustrated on on on Saturday we ended up losing harate after having 30 shots so definitely some still some work to do for the for the team in the in the final third um but but but no we we we we think we've made made some some some good recruitment decisions over the summer and of course it will take a little bit of time for the group to come together but these games that we have tomorrow night against brenford they're just brilliant in terms of the development of the team because like I said you learn so much when you play against the the best players and the best teams yeah I was looking at some of the numbers and in terms of shots in terms of creating those chances that's definitely there it's just about being able to take them and obviously that's going to be key against brenford but you and Nikki already took Lincoln to the the quarterfinals of the FA Cup in what 201617 how much do you learn from from that experience in in I mean because Cup competitions are so much down to everything that happens just in the moment they come down to those those tiny differences so how much can you can you learn from progress in a competition like that yeah I think you can always learn from from your previous experiences and yeah Nikki and I have been been lucky enough to to be able to beat some Premier League teams in in in in at our previous clubs and I always think it's a little bit when you're when you're a lower league club and you get to play against Premier League clubs it's a little bit like climbing a mountain when you when you when you when when you start off you you're at the bottom and you look up and and the the task can almost feel insurmountable and I think what you have to do is break it down into into into parts and for us we kind of break the game down into 4 22 and a half minute blocks and um sort of four games within a game if you like and I think by doing that and kind of chunking it it makes it a little bit more achievable for the players um and and certainly for us in in terms of the game plan it will be to try to make it a short game because I think if you are going to be an underdog beating a a top team then you've got to try to make it a shorter game um because then yeah it just gives you it just obviously gives you a little bit more chance of getting on the right side of it Danny the other thing is brothers are very much in Vogue at the moment although I think you and Nikki have got a slightly less fractur relationship than Liam and null this is very true this is very true but um I was very very very pleased to hear that they they've uh they they've resolved their differences and they're now um they're now coming back together I think that this will be uh this this will be this will be great for the music industry for sure in this country Danny I know you've got a big game to
