Commanders UDFA Tracker: All The UDFAs The Washington Commanders Signed After The 2024 NFL Draft

course this is a bigger name you know bigger School quarterback of course he was on the Netflix series qb1 as well so a lot of people know this guy's name he's got the Luscious Hair uh that he's that he's known for as you can see in the picture right there Tom Downey ranked him 280th on his Big Board number 12th overall quarterback now listen man Hartman kind of stinks all right if you saw him perform at the Senior Bowl against some of the top prospects in the country against the most vanilla base coverages that you could see is pretty much a preseason defense he didn't even he didn't play well lots of inaccurate passes he doesn't have a strong arm I'm not expecting much from Sam Hartman but they did give him a pretty uh he signing bonus I believe it was $25,000 uh which tells me that he might be in their plans potentially to be a third quarterback option for them moving forward now it's going to be interesting to watch him play during preseason uh if he looks any better than he did at the Senior Bowl and in his final season there at Notre Dame like I said not the strongest arm of the world I definitely don't see any starting starter capable uh traits in his game at least in my opinion but he's definitely a big name it's going to be interesting to see him uh in training camp and it's going to be fun to see him play in those preseason games uh once we get closer to the Marcus Rose season and then a player that I'm actually very happy that the commanders ended up uh going out and getting uh Marcus rosemy Jacks out of Georgia so he's coming from a winning program good run blocker uh Georgia Bulldogs really make their wide receivers run block which is something that I appreciate uh Tom Downey ranked him 27 uh second on his big board so he had a draftable grade on him uh but at the end of the day man I mean I like the other wide receivers on this roster man I like uh I think Luke mcaffrey who got drafted earlier uh in the third round by the commanders he's definitely going to be making the roster so you have him you have Terry mclen you have Johan Dodson of course you have Jameson Crowder who I expect to make the roster Mitchell Tinsley is still here who I'm a big fan of uh from last year's udfa class actually so Jack Saint I think does have a little bit of a uh Hill to climb here if he's going to make the final 53 might have to carv out a rooll for himself on special teams if he's going to be sticking around but he's somebody from winning program and I actually kind of like this signing from the Washington commanders then somebody Tyler Owens else uh that was kind of a bigger name uh in terms of the udfa class this year Tyler Owens safety out of Texas Tech he was expected to get drafted this year and this might be the best overall player that the commanders ended up signing as a udfa this year uh Tyler Owens was ranked 232nd by Tom Downey's Big Board this year so definitely a draftable grade for him now he had ranked as the number 20 safety I think there are reasons why Tyler did not get drafted this year for sure but if you're getting a guy like this who was expected to get drafted as a udfa I always think that that is a steal and a value and who knows maybe he can carve himself out a role here in this in the commander AJ Woods secondary then another secondary player here that I like that the commanders are getting our AJ is AJ Woods out of pit uh now he wasn't not ranked by Tom Downey's Big Board here not ranked in that regard and he's undersized okay so I don't know if he's going to play safety I don't know if he's going to play Corner uh you know 510 and and 1/8 height there with 187 pounds if he plays safety I would assume he's going to be playing free safety if he plays uh corner he could technically play outside or in the slot it's going to be interesting to see how head coach Dan Quinn uses Woods uh not only in rookie mini camp here but also training camp in the in the next that opens up here in guaranteed then the commanders uh signed Austin Jones Michael Wy a couple of running back udfas here uh Austin Jones is the first one out of USC not ranked by Tom Downey's uh big board this year so not necessarily a steal by any stretch of the imagination uh but this isn't the only running back that the Washington commanders ended up going out and getting they got Michael Wy running back out of Arizona also not ranked by Tom Downey's Big Board this year so both of these guys I think they're definitely going to be competing against against each other and against the rest of the running back room of course you got Brian Robinson Jr you've got Austin Eckler now and you have Chris Rodriguez Jr who was taken in the draft last year who actually showed some flashes so honestly I think both of these running backs probably have a a tough Hill to climb in order to make the roster uh but hey man they're getting an opportunity here with the burgundy and gold and then a defensive tackle signed Norl Pard by the Washington commanders norl Pard out of Virginia Tech also not ranked by Tom Downey's Big Board here but 200 and 83 lbs as a defensive tackle is a bit under siiz so I mean listen man he's a udfa he's going to have uphill climb here to make the roster in my opinion might even have to put on a little bit more poundage before training camp to really uh compete because Washington's going to be running a 43 style of Defense here and you kind of need your uh defensive tackles to be larger than that if he makes the roster I would expect he's going to be more of like a true rotational uh defensive tackle that comes in on on pass heavy Downs to help him out but with Johnny Newton uh being drafted in the second round he's assuming that role right now uh so I think it's definitely an uphill battle for him to make the roster then we got I Choer Anderson hope I'm saying this right choer and andum that's a tough one guys cornerback out of Colorado State not ranked by Tom Downey's Big Board this year oh oh no he is actually 251st overall so listen man this is somebody that you're getting I think that you know you have Emanuel Forbes Michael Davis and Benjamin St juice apparently uh this regime here with Adam Peters and Dan Quinn liked that room quite a bit plus they added Mike S still out of Michigan to play slot corner you still have Quan Martin I'm guessing they're going to be moving him to safety but you still have Derek Forest at free safety who I like uh you have Jared mechin that strong safety uh so it's a pretty crowded cornerback and safety room the defensive back room uh is definitely starting to fill up for Washington uh so if he makes the roster I'd expect him to be a special teamer and a backup and David N then I'm not even going to try to uh I'm just going to call him David N here uh because there's a lot of G's and W's and U's in there and I just I just don't want to completely butcher his name but offensive tackle from Toledo David and uh not ranked by Tom Downey's Big Board this year about 293 lbs as a tackle is pretty darn under sized so he's going to be coming in here he's going to be trying to fight for a roster a roster spot but honestly guys I'm not very confident that he is going to end up making the final roster so here is the review here of the udfas for your Washington commanders this year uh Sam Hartman quarterback out of Notre Dame kind of the biggest name uh that on this list here Marcus Rose uh rosem me Saint Jack Saint wide receiver from Georgia interesting name to watch out for uh Tyler Owens is a guy that I think could maybe even sneak into the final 53 here out of Texas Tech AJ Woods out of Pittsburgh Austin Jones and Michael Wy is the two running back udfas here this year for Dan Quinn norl Pard uh the defensive tackle out of Virginia Tech an undersized guy and then choia and and nuum from col from Colorado State excuse me and then you got David N to round out the class this year uh
