Postgame Press Conference: Haynes King, Jamal Haynes, Weston Franklin (August 24, 2024)

everybody's uh left to right we have quarterback haes King we have running back Jamal Haynes and we have Center Wesson Franklin we'll go ahead and open it right up for questions for these guys go ahead Kelly H I imagine that you enjoyed the two-minute warning uh in the first half it seemed like you pretty gassed on that drive you guys were going down and then you got the two-minute Waring how did you feel like the new clock rules worked and kind of what was your your thoughts on that you know I didn't mind it uh and then also as you go to the next level you got to get us to you got the two-minute warning and everything like that uh but I I felt like we did a good job uh as a team just operating in uh clock management stuff like that Chad speaking of the two-minute warning what was said in that last two-minute warning a pretty much protectable uh you almost you almost didn't though yeah but uh anyways we found a way that's all that matters uh find a way to and uh at the end of the day if it went for them guys up front and uh those those Playmakers on the outside making plays we we wouldn't be either right now Weston there was a lot of talk about Florida State's defensive line you guys pushed them around and much to the surprise I think of everyone that had been heralded before going into the game what is what is it like to impose your will like that and just how much confidence you guys have with the way you're playing right now um it's it's very it's a very good feeling um that's just kind of our mindset going into every game we want to run the football we want to want to continue to push the pace and make defenses uncomfortable and um I mean it's a definitely a good feeling but we got to show up next week and do the same thing or this game means nothing to us so we got to go back to practice tomorrow and fix fix the mistakes that we did have and continue to be better more Chad Jamal coaches said he thinks this could be a special group and I know it's just game one but what's your sense about this locker room and this team you guys have yeah I'm right there with Coach is a very special group um all the guys really bond together we stay together um we actually really family honestly we really family we go to war every day we trained all summer all spring to be in this position to get out there and execute so I really feel like this is a very special group we just got to keep going Ken um can you describe after the kick went through kind of what your reaction was what that felt like to to that way honestly uh I didn't know what to do no first thing I tried to do was was go go find the five up front uh but other than that it was just celebrate with my teammates and then uh now looking back on you know it's amazing feeling but like West and all them said you know we we got a game coming up next week and uh it's just just as important and we uh we've been preaching consistency this off season and that's that's what we're going to try to do when you guys got the ball back hands on the to on the game rning Drive essentially um did you say anything to the team before you went out there kind of what was the mentality like I know you guys have been in these moments now quite a few times since you've been here does that give you confidence as well oh yeah uh but you know with with the veteran guys that we have and and who we have on offense I I ain't got to say too much uh you know pretty much I just got to look at him like Hey give him that n let's go uh but everybody was saying like you know why not us let's let's go put in that end zone finish this game off uh and then we found a way got it done Patrick hey just a quick question on the almost turnover that think Big Joe recovered you got a handle that ball when was loose but before it was Secure did you know he was there you just trying to keep it alive for somebody or I tried to recover it and then uh I don't know what happened you know go for it and then glad we got the ball back though uh you know taking care of the ball in the turnovers that's that's a big win thank you Jamal uh can you just talk about the Run game today I imagine it was a lot of fun Chad got his first snap and you guys were a really good onew punch again and was it cool to have like have that going again cuz that was such key for you guys down the stretch last year absolutely but just like H said it's all to the guys up front I mean they came in with the right mindset the right responsibility to know that we have to get the job done to know that we wanted to run the ball so it's all all hands all claps to guys up front so I really appreciate them and then just speaking on Chad Alexander I told y'all in previous interviews like coach McKenzie he prepares us for any back to go in and be ready to go so it doesn't matter who gets in they're going to be ready to go but definitely proud of Chad and the way he came in and ran the ball today I'm very excited for his future I'm how much confidence does it give you when you see the offensive line play where they did on going to dominate that D line from FSC where everybody was talking about them prior to the game absolutely it gives me extreme confidence but we already know what they can do and then they have full trust in me the way I have full trust in them so it's it gives me extreme confidence to get the ball take it where I need to take it and get the field time for more two more anything else Ken um Jamal just what does it feel like you know the season opener no one quite knows what everyone has to go in here and you know win be the number 10 team and and to you to show everyone watching what you guys are um it's definitely a special moment definitely want to um enjoy this one tonight but like the guys said it means nothing if we can't go out next week and handle business we got to get back tomorrow go to practice clean up the details clean up anything that we made mistakes on get to work did you have one last one sure West how you had an opportunity guys to to show the offensive line how much growth you guys here how much different do you feel like this group is compared to a year ago how much progress you feel like you guys have made kind of bond in and get better um I feel like it's pretty much night and day we we understand the offense and we know where we want to go and we we trust the off of us up front trust each other and we're all like brothers me we we hang out all the time we go eat together um we're all the time together outside of the building we're not just an oine group that plays o line at door to Tech like we're true brothers and we enjoy going out going hanging out with each other outside of the program so um and it's a true bond that I don't think a lot of places have and I'm very excited to be a part of it and I'm ready to see where this goes okay everybody thank you very much thank you
