THE LATEST IN THE INVESTIGATION IN A MINUTE. FIRST, MORE THREATS ARE BEING REPORTED IN THE WAKE OF THE SHOOTING. OMAHA POLICE SAY A 14 YEAR OLD HAS BEEN SUSPENDED. AN 11 YEAR OLD WAS BOOKED INTO JAIL AND IS NOW IN HOUSE ARREST. AND A 13 YEAR OLD IS TICKETED, ALL FOR MAKING THREATS ABOUT. LOOK AT TWO OTHER LOCAL SCHOOLS. HOWEVER, NONE WERE CREDIBLE AS KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN'S MADDIE AUGUSTINE REPORTS, THERE ARE SEVERE PENALTIES FOR MAKING A THREAT, BUT POLICE ARE ALSO ASKING THE PUBLIC TO REPORT ANY THREATS SOONER. ROB WAVERLE THAT'S RIGHT, OMAHA POLICE SAY A MAJORITY OF THE REPORTS THEY RECEIVED COME IN THE EVENING AFTER SCHOOLS ALREADY DISMISSED, WHICH CAUSES DELAYS IN THE INVESTIGATION. SO THEY'RE ASKING EVERYONE TO REPORT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. YOU CAN EVEN REPORT ANONYMOUSLY THROUGH THE RESOURCE SAFE TO HELP NEBRASKA. ANY SCHOOL, PUBLIC OR NONPUBLIC ACROSS THE STATE OF NEBRASKA CAN HAVE ACCESS TO THIS ANONYMOUS REPORTING SYSTEM WITH THE CLICK OF A BUTTON, STUDENTS, STAFF AND PARENTS CAN BEGIN THE PROCESS OF ANONYMOUSLY REPORTING ANY THREATS OR INCIDENTSTS THAT MAY OCCUR AT A SCHOOL. BASICALLY, YOU CALL INTO THE SYSTEM AND THEN IT'S REPORTED TO THE BOYS TOWN CALL CENTER, WHERE THERE IS A CRISIS COUNSELOR AVAILABLE 24 HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK THROUGH THE SAFE TO HELP NEBRASKA APP OR HOTLINE. JAY MARTIN, SCHOOL SAFETY AND SECURITY DIRECTOR WITH THE NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, SAYS THEY WORK TO ALTER AN INCIDENT BEFORE IT EVEN OCCURS. SCHOOLS HAVE A TEAM OF FIVE OR MORE THAT IT GOES OUT TO THAT TEAM. THE TEAM RECEIVES THAT TEXT IN REAL TIME, AND THEN THEY CAN BASICALLY CHANGE THE PATH OF A A POTENTIAL INCIDENT IN A SCHOOL. AND AFTER A 15 YEAR OLD WAS SHOT AT NORTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL TUESDAY, OMAHA POLICE SAY WEDNESDAY THEY WERE INVESTIGATING SEVERAL SOCIAL MEDIA THREATS MADE TO OTHER LOCAL SCHOOLS. OPD SAYS NONE OF THOSE THREATS WERE CREDIBLE, BUT NOW THEY'RE ENCOURAGING THE PUBLIC TO UTILIZE SAFE TO HELP NEBRASKA KIDS HAVE THAT ABILITY TO AGAIN, FEEL SAFE IN REPORTING SOMETHING WITHOUT IT COMING BACK ONTO THEM. OMAHA POLICE SAY WHEN REPORTING TO USE AS MANY DETAILS AS POSSIBLE, INCLUDING FULL SCREENSHOTS OF THREATS. WHAT PLATFORM THEY WERE POSTED ON AND ANY SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES THAT WERE INVOVOLVED. AND MARTIN SAYS ALL TYPES OF CONCERNS CAN BE REPORTED ON SAFE TO HELP NEBRASKA, INCLUDING THREATS, BULLYING, DRUG USAGE OR SELLING, AND EVEN SELF-HARM. ABOUT 80% OF THESE CALLS ARE NOT LAW ENFORCEMENT RELATED. WHAT THEY ARE IS THEY'RE ACTUALLY SOMETHING THAT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT CAN HANDLE. AND HE SAYS THERE ARE THREE MAIN THINGS THAT CAN HELP CHANGE THE PATH. ONE IS HAVING ANONYMOUS REPORTING. TWO IS HAVING THAT THREAT ASSESSMENT TEAM. AND THE THIRD THING IS HAVING KIDS CONNECTED IN SOME TYPE OF A RELATIONSHIP WITH AN ADULT OTHER THAN THEIR PARENTS. IN THAT SCHOOL. OMAHA POLICE SAY ANY STUDENT CAUGHT FOR MAKING THREATS CAN RECEIVE A TICKCKET WITH A MANDATORY COURT DATE, OR BE BOOKED INTO JAIL ON FELONY TERRORISTIC THREATS. STUDENTS CAN ALSO FACE DISCIPLINARY ACTION FROM THEIR SCHOOL. A MAJORITY OF THOSE ARE OUTLINED IN STUDENT
