getting ready for this game the Dukes will kick it off to get us [Applause] underway just into the end zone and he'll bring it out nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the sooner offense takes the field to start this game off this has an old school feel to it is this running back makes his way onto the field and All Eyes Are Fixed they are blue on him yeah the old school because nowadays it's usually quarterbacks and the other guys that get all the attention but this guy's so good he is the focal point he's the guy everybody's looking to he's the tone Setter he's the physical Bell cow for this team he will get the rock early and off they're trying to run the football there's just nowhere to go for the ball carrier inside he tried to bounce it to the outside that linebacker way too fast he met him there and forced the TF Out off play action and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one well he's able to make it easy after that catch and I think his speed is something that just scares DBS to death you think about great Oklahoma receivers recently guys like CD lamb Sterling Shepard Hollywood Brown DB's gave them so much cushion because they were afraid they were going to get run by and I think that's how defenses treat this guy tooo with his speed and his playmaking ability he scares you to death and that cushion helps him out tremendously after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one from the gun the running back has it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one linebackers have such an amazing responsibility got to play run got to play pass how about this seeing the Run aggressively getting downhill and getting in the back field and making the tackle for a loss this defense will try to force a fourth down on Third and short from the 45 he's going to let it go catch inside the 25 touchdown Oklahoma he broke away from the defense and they couldn't catch it number man how hard is it to defend when you have a weapon like this at running back that can play wide receiver you can design ways to get the football in his hand Palmer once you get in his hands he'll do the rest yeah no doubt I mean and often times those are easier throws for quarterbacks and these running backs they're just naturally so good when they have the football out in space their Vision their creativity their ability to make people miss and this guy shows you right there a difficult difficult guy to stop now if you're this defense moving forward the Duke's offense will try to get something going with their first possession and these two electrifying Runners can put on a show guys we always talk about the importance of tackling on defense never more so than it came like this when you've got two studs in the back F that can make people look silly you better bring hacks to the football yeah and you think there'll be a lot of carries today when when you got running backs like this that you can feature you're going to see them get the football a lot early and [Applause] often looking downfield it's Morris working that left side now and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for first down hey I'll tell you what that slot receiver he may not be the biggest receiver in the world but he is Shifty and he runs really good routes you saw it on that play makes the grab it's Ross know often times these slot receivers they not the biggest guys in the world but they're really good at finding the Open Spaces in the middle of the field and you saw that guy attack the defense in the perfect spot making life easy for his QB he wants to throw here on second down and he was hit just as he REM least did it it falls to the turf that Defender was just smothering the quarterback on that screen attempt you know the QB's taught to hold on to it to the last possible second he had no shot trying to negotiate that defend quarterback will audible wants to throw on third down and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete and the Dukes will putt this one away they'll have to punt for the first time this afternoon able to get the first one of the day away they did have to send him out three times in that Victory last week and the returner will be knocked down time for this sooner offense to go back to work and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heels and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard to stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're loving what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here from the shotgun the hand off to the back and he'll have enough for the first down at the 42 really nice run this guy brings balance to this offense it's not all high flying aerial passing attack too you go back to Adrien Peterson DeMarco Murray samaj perine they've always had guys in these spread Up Tempo offenses that have been able to give them balance and force the defense to stay honest that's exactly what this guy brings the sooner offense an Oklahoma quarterback making a play on the ground evokes memories of the wishbone days and Wishbone or spread whatever you want to call it they still find the one key ingredient Oklahoma finds quarterbacks who are athletes put them in space let them do their thing and that's why they've always been so successful at that spot now on second and short after that pickup easy running to the left and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play that's a really good stop by the defense Jason they need a few more you've given up a bunch of yards on this drive a bunch of plays but all that matters is keeping them off the scoreboard yeah it's that bend don't break mentality you're seeing right now and this is the point where this defense has just got to lock in when you play defensive end it's all about getting off the football you can tell gets off the football really fast Gets In The Back Field gets the running back before he knows what hit him what a play by the defensive end between the uprights it's good and now the lead is even bigger so the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away after putting up a field goal let's see what the defense can do on the run from inside his zone five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 James Madison sends the offense back onto the field that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass I think d it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and going they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 back to pass it's Morris he rifles one deep to the left fires into traffic intercepted and after the interception return he gets it down to the 32 yd line it's so nice to see Defenders squeeze that pig skin a lot of times in great position you see him there to make the play but there's the reason they play defense not this time great job securing the interception getting some heat and the defense gets home and makes a play at the 37 yd line and you don't want to see this trend continue last week he was sacked four times the offensive line This offense as a whole needs to get in better situations get rid of the football faster and not keep getting their quarterback hit quick completion to the right and good coverage by the defense just a short game and they don't want to waste this great field position here on Third and long from the gun wants to pass he lets one fly deep and he takes it all the way they couldn't stop him touchdown sooner they've got the lead in trying to put this one in a hammerlock here in week 10 and this offense right now they are doing some damage through the air that's now their second passing touchdown they thought coming into this game were going to have some matchups on the perimeter of the field that they could take advantage of and they've done that so far here [Applause] today here he comes from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 guys James Madison ready to go back on the attack to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the oppon they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense really nice job on that play quarterback and receiver being on the same page quarterback not telegraphing to throw and the receiver does a nice job finding the soft spot in the defense just settling down and giving his quarterback a nice Target to throw to he got a bunch and look close to getting a lot more but he's got the first down the Dukes come to the line with a new set of [Music] downs off the play fake on first down wants to throw it's complete to the left this offense is just so dynamic because they've got Playmakers at all the skill positions right we just saw big play in the running game now we see one in the passing game there's not one dude that you can key on here if you're on defense to try and slow them down and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening we reached the quarter break with Oklahoma on top they wanted to strike first and strike hard and they've been able to do that here in the first quarter as we take a look at the stats we'll get this quarter going with a second down play looking to throw it's Morris and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit this offense just has to find a way to find a rhythm here they're playing at home and they want this crowd to stay involved and be an asset in the game but they need to start making plays they can't keep throwing incompletion this early he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming they'll try to cap off this drive with a field goal never a doubt for this big footed guy 49y field goal is good so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it [Applause] away and it'll be a touch back the ball will come out to the 25 yd line so Oklahoma has it again and here comes the offense Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one dve we'll see what they can do here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the pace keep the go grabbed in the middle it's Roberts and they'll pick up the first down and Mark it at the 47 the Sooners want to move quickly just the ability to move the chains keep the drive going sort of quintessential efficiency from a sooner quarterback ball in the air intercepted and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception timing has to be so good you're throwing at his own defense over the middle of the field Ball's got to come out specifically on time cuz these windows close really quickly ball there thrown a little bit late as a result it's an in he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play well I love the aggressive nature of the defense on that play everybody playing with eye discipline they saw the pre- snap motion they knew who had the football and you saw guys play with excellent Instinct running downhill and making and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense and you're seeing the pass rush on the second play of the drive they dial it up look at the speed and athleticism this defense has as they Crow the qu back for a loss on Third and long he'll need to push it down field and he just Chucks it into the fourth row and offensively we know it's hard throwing the ball in third and long situations because the defense can play Big Zone coverages they got a lot of guys with their eyes on you so the QB had no shot there nobody open nice job not forcing it not risking a turnover just thrown it away couldn't get away from that cover team and they've got him down at the 23 guys we'll get another look at this Oklahoma offense boy they hope this next Drive is more productive after throwing a pick last time Jesse Yeah and the coaches did a good job on the sideline there just talking to the Young quarterback and making sure he's able to turn the page calm him down to go out and refocus this drive yeah and some people do that better than others but you got to show some trust in him maybe get the ground game going help around him a little bit with the system Ed the play fake now to throw he's going to let one fly down the middle and he'll ramble to the 34 before he's finally knocked down lethal weapons all over the field that has been the standard at Oklahoma for several years I mean so many guys and they they built this offense on space and speed and it's The Playmakers out wide listen they've had great quarterbacks but if you don't have guys outside they're going to make plays obviously it makes it hard to move the football these guys they make it easy going to run it it's Achu across the 25 to the 24 yd line before he stopped pick up of five and a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs the give to the right Jes his way from all tackle is made right at the 20 yd line after a pick up of four after the productive first down play it's second and six from the gun they'll try to impose their will they pull him down at the 17 after a pick up of three here on third down will they go back to the running game trying to pick it up on the ground got some room headed to the goal line and he rolls into the house touchdown Oklahoma Precision block locking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah I it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes and just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone what an unbelievable job blocking up front and the extra point is true and the lead balloons to 21 76 yds on the drive for the touchdown and they finish it off with the 17 yd touchdown run fielded in the end Zone it's n didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 James Madison sends the offense back onto the field trailing by three touchdowns if you're going to get back in it David the time to start is right now got to start now defense giving up points on that last possession again the offense is going to have to score and Jesse probably scor pretty quick yeah you got to go Tempo you're going to have to try to fit in as many plays as you can throughout the rest of this game but I think more than that you got to eliminate the negative plays no more penalties and no more turnovers coming after him and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete it's hard throwing in the pocket man you got bodies and 300 lb dudes falling all over the place they're trying to hit you that time the pressure got to them and it forced the incompletion quarterback reacting to what the D is showing looking downfield it's Morris he rifles one deep down the right side you know these throws to the perimeter of the field can be so tricky for a quarterback you've got to be pinpoint accurate have great timing you didn't see it there from the QB he gets a [Applause] block here comes the Oklahoma offense how about the way they attacked the last time they had the ball mixing run and pass and winding up in the end zone Jesse that's why recruiting is so important they've got weapons at every skill position on the field any of these guys is dangerous if they touch the football let's see what they do on this drive David and so pler I got to take away something I can't let them have everything and have success I got to be aggressive against the run or play for the pass I can't give them [Applause] everything he's brought down at the 38 third down they've got to get the football to the 32 to pick up the first down easy on Third and long try to convert through the air and the Freshman will CH up a sack this defense needed something to go right man they're down big already in the first half get to the quarterback get them on the ground this could start some momentum going back the other direction no opport to run it back as the ball goes out of bounds guys James Madison ready to go back on the attack the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse they just had no ribbon in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum and he finds enough Running Room and he's Mar down at the 20 second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning they're bringing Heat and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 the run from the shotgun and how about that alertness and that swarming D to keep him from getting the first down timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way that's usually Prime return position but he'll make the fair catch just outside the 40 on first down here comes this offense they'll come out on this drive and let it rip going for the big play and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in hey man they've got a big lead on offense and they are still taking shots they are challenging this secondary deep down the field they barely missed that one snares it outside it's Anthony and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there and he runs a quick out route and this is a timy route quarterback has to trust and thrown the football you can tell they thr this a time or two nice job nice success caught behind the line it's Achu he couldn't find anywhere to go and now it's fourth down and the Sooners will try to pin them back with the punt this will be a second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away that thing was down for a while but the big bounce carried it into the end zone and it'll be a Touchback James Madison sends the offense back onto the field to the air it's Morris they find themselves in a pretty deep hole here but maybe a chance to grab a little momentum and regroup at halftime yeah a big chance like this is this is an opportunity this is the biggest opportunity in front of them in the game right now you got to get some points on the board you got to create something positive Jesse there hasn't been a whole lot to be positive about in the first half if I'm playing quarterback I'm locating my goto guy receiver who can I count on one-on-one to go and make me a play maybe even one on two who can go up catch the ball get us some yards and get us some point going up top on first down fires to the wide out and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down got to give the cuz they've come into this hostile environment and they've quieted the crowd down with some of the plays they're making they've got a nice lead right here and they're making it hard for this quarterback to go to work they'll go back to work after the incompletion here's second and 10 from the 36 catch in the middle it's Ross and he was on his way gets it all the way to the 38 there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer and the Dukes will have it first and 10 quarterback checking off he'll come out throwing on first down working that left side and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up here's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half finally this offense starting to show a little juice they've got a first and 10 he wants to throw by little time with his feet nobody open he just throws it away and it'll bring up second down yeah and your first job is to affect the quarterback and try to get him off his spot they get him off his spot he gets outside the pocket and a nice job chasing not quitting getting to the quarterback and still getting a good lick as he's throwing the football operating in the Red Zone here on second down they'll run it from the gun maybe a three yd pickup there third and long coming up just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime from the shotgun now here's an inside give and they did not let him reach the line to gain it'll bring up a decision here offense calls a timeout here critically important to make sure they have the right play called and everyone on the same page here and in the closing moments of the first half they'll try to put a three spot on the board already one for one on field goals today he'll try to make it two for two from 22 field goal is good that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update Ellas you've had yourselves a great broadcast so far today in Harrisonburg the Sooners will try to kick this one deep to get things underway in the second half fielded In The End Zone it's Knight not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 guys James Madison ready to go back on the attack they start this third quarter in a big hole and they have to start climbing out right now and they're going to have to be really aggressive Le like this offense when I'm playing from behind every possession means so much more and if you look the other side the defense they hadn't given much resistance yeah nothing has gone there way in the first half offensively and you know now based on how this defense is playing with their confidence that you are going going to be challenged on every single snap so buckle up get your mind right and get ready to come back in this game makes the catch it's Hudson and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down fresh set of downs after the completion motion by the back forces the defense to adjust flips it out to the back nice solid form tackle from this sophomore this defense is going to have to be careful not only do they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes too he is a versatile back wants to throw it's Morris going to try to pop one on the screen and they're able to force him out of bounds after a short pickup yeah and you're going to see this offense find different ways to get this running back involved it's not just going to be on handoffs and they're certainly going to line him up in different places and even throw him the football but the screen game is a big part of it too they're trying to get him going there feeling some heat and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's incomplete the Dukes will call on their punt team they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today bringing it back it's Burks Powers through the solid return there offsets some of the punt yardage and really sets up this offense nicely the sooner offense returns to the field they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last he's Off to the Races he's at the 10 touchdown Sooners and the Ping has started this offense looked unstopable in the first half lighting up the scoreboard and it doesn't look much different here in the second half they take their first drive of the third quarter March it down the field and score there's no end in sight for these guys about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown kick he'll start the return inside his five he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 James Madison sends the offense back onto the field David the got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the pun out there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them to football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense just enough there to get it to the 25 a pick up of two I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it and this is going to be incomplete on third INE well after struggling so much in the first half you thought they would have made some adjustments here at halftime to see if they can open up this passing game but early on in the second half they just not really able to get that done incompletion on third down in your own end you're expecting them to punt this drive will get started from the 37 yd line he leaves it with his back pretty good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42 and it's really nice to have a Workhorse running back that you know you can feed and get productive gain after gain now over a 100 yards you've already got some separation on the scoreboard I would continue to feed this Workhorse what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down and listen if it ain't broke don't fix it I mean I love teams that commit to the run and when it's successful keep running the rock yeah David I I think this offensive line right now they've got a ladder going they're really sort of getting in the groove and flow of this game they're just getting tremendous push at the point of attack it seems like every single time they decide to run the ball from the gun running back gets to give and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down and I don't care if I get it by by 20 by 30 by 40 I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark receiver looks it in it's complete and they finally get him stopped but it's a big throwing catch and he's down at the five and offensively I love running these drag routes I mean these are the routes that whether it's Zone whether it's man they're so successful it's just about seeing what the defense is doing and getting it to touchdown Oklahoma and the route is on Oklahoma you know this offense knew coming into the season it was so important for this guy to stay healthy they needed him week in week out because he plays at such a high level and he's showing it here that last carry was his 10th rushing touchdown of the season and let's check in with Kevin Conor in the studio Kevin all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend Iowa is currently trailing but if this young star leads a comeback today he could join former Heisman winner Nile kenck among the legends to wear that uniform it's a touchdown game they're trailing by seven to Oregon wants to throw on first down off the play fake just another week of college football where we've come to expect the unexpected fellas thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back just a solid stop by this sore you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 quarterback making adjustments with his receivers unloads to the right it's complete and Chun plays are the of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the Stop and the Dukes getting set on First and [Applause] 10 from the gun he leaves it with the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it's been that kind of day for this offense right it seems like anything they're dialing up just simply isn't working but at this point David I don't know if it's even worth trying to run the ball probably not you're getting destroyed right now nothing has gone your way and when you're down this much I I think the running game is used sporadically not as a staple let's throw this football around and see what can [Applause] happen to the air it's Morris going for the big play and the DB forcing the incomplete pass with the deflection the Dukes will line up to PL it away he gets it up to the 34 yd line before he stopped and that's where the offense will set up shot all right guys so here's the offense back on the field again what a good mix of plays keeping that defense off balance last time David and REE they don't know if it's run or if it's pass they got him right where they wanted this defense doesn't know how to react from getting punched in the mouth on that last drive so in this next Drive David I think you keep running the football because that sets up the play action it sets up the RPO game and then you keep this defense guessing the give out of the gun still on his feet at the 45 found a bunch of room and got it to the 44 yd line and obviously this offense has had their way getting the huge lead and now when you know it's a running situation later in the ball games you're still getting pounded this defense has to step up at some point and be a lot more physical deco coordinators down the road that have to play this offense man they're going to have nightmares because this unit has so much speed and so much and he breaks into the open they get him on the ground but not before he rumbles all the way to the five they use those backto back explosives to set him up first and [Applause] goal quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver and a decent gain there before the defense makes the stop up brings up second and goal got it they've moved it forward to the two now it's second and goal he's looking to throw pressure coming and they got him for the sack a y on the as they get set to snap at time winding down here in the quarter they'll try to pass it in on Third and goal makes a catch touchdown sooner and the punishment has been extended each and every week I think this coaching staff does such a good job of scheming ways to get this guy the football in the passing game and defenses can't cover him with that last catch this is now his 10th receiving touchdown on the season about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside his five there to make the stop and we played three in this one we reach the quarter break with Oklahoma on top and as we switch ends of the field let's take a quick look at the national [Music] rankings back at it to open the quarter with this first down [Applause] play he's looking to throw it makes the pass caught over the middle it's Thompson and he's brought down after a huge completion the offens is struggled they're not going to win this game but trust me this coaching staff is still trying to find things to build off of for next week and after an explosive play like that maybe they can generate just a little bit of momentum and gain a little bit of confidence that they can keep coaching up heading into their next game and so many things have to come together perfectly for a screen to work for big yardage and they were close you could tell that almost busted but they just got wrapped up got a little bit of yardage but they really wanted that one to be a big game this defense has just been all over this guy all game long Under Pressure they're finding a way to get to him and effec his rhythm of course they have an interception in this game that's why they've got a big lead here in the fourth quarter this guy has never gotten into a rhythm offenses know and work on it all week third Downs third downs we got to be really really good this offense not good on this third down it could come back to bite him fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way able to keep them from getting a return and the ball goes out of bounds they're going to mark it right around the 20 here come the Sooners ready to go on offense you want to talk about a drive where you impose your will that's what they did running it down for a touchdown David there is nothing more demoralizing than that for a defense to be physically pounded the run is coming you know it's coming and you can't stop it nothing the defense can do that is mono imano up front and your guys getting a push they know you're running it and they still can't stop defense is about firing off hitting the offensive guys and staying in your gaps everybody knowing where they're supposed to be you could tell the defense everyone was right where they're supposed to be nowhere to run Thompson wants to throw makes his connection and it is well blocked as they pick up enough for a first down just beautiful and that's a great feeling as a quarterback when you make that throw he keeps your offense on the field keeps the offense in Rhythm obviously not as good as throwing a touchdown fast I'll tell you this way better than having to tr off over to the bench and wait for your turn to get shot then you hear about run blitzes this is exactly what a run blitz is when you know the ball's coming up the middle you want to bring those linebackers get them closer to the line of scrimmage and fire right when the ball snapped he's coming downhill doing a good job creating the loss that linebacker really knew what was going on got behind those pads and picked up three out to the 35 now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass going up top and they wanted it all on third down but now dealing with four down the Sooners will bring the punt team onto the [Applause] field catches it cleanly at the 20 everybody stays in their Lanes well enough and they stop him at the 31 yd line guys James Madison ready to go back on the attack their Drive chart is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too they just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this offense needs to get their heads out of there and you know what the punter's on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball third down conversions are a huge St and this one would be a dooy if they can pull it off he slings it
