“What an amazing afternoon” | Celtic 3-0 Rangers | Match Reaction

fabulous stuff everyone fabulous stuff another Derby victory for Celtic we should be used to it by now but as we always say the feeling never gets old Stevie is with me to chat about Celtic 3 Rangers now looks like you're still inside Celtic Park Stevie you know you're allowed to leave yes home and all that it's h the reality is he I've been able to go and Celtic the only ones that will take me it's a it's an embarrassment to a position to be in personally but no um that was such a routine performance really H straightforward win I think it was something that we were saying I think Big John was right on Friday and we echoed it too on Saturday when we were basically saying you know Rangers had a to prove um we were supremely confident that Celtic would put in a good performance and get three points um and after a pretty ropey 10 minutes other than that I think Celtic were just so so Superior um Brandon Rogers used the confidence as well and the pressor after the game and just overall heish um really good afternoon and as yeah you're right it's I mean we are really used to it but we don't take it for granted and I certainly don't anyway yeah you have just revealed why you're still in the stadium you were at the postmatch press conference so we'll hear about that in a we minute uh yeah amazing afternoon everyone uh hope you enjoyed it whever you are watching it was a a funny game Stevie I just thought it was so easy so comfortable uh I don't know if any if you feel like this if anyone else feels like this but that is like the CEST I have been I think for one of these Derby matches in a number of years I don't think I even got nervous at any stage of the match and even in the leadup to the game Stevie the last three or four days maybe because transfer stuff was happening and Champions League stuff was happening but it just felt like a normal game and it played out like a normal game Celtic were streets ahead of of the opposition um like is is this what this Derby's become now do we just turn up and just win relatively easily with with no first cuz you know I'm all for that well I don't I mean I think the the Derby has became fairly routine and that is all down to the fact that we prepare better than Rangers we put ourselves in a in a position to succeed more than Rangers do um and obviously at the end of the game there um the Rangers will be looking for excuses whereas you know winners don't have to do that which is a testament as to where you know the two clubs are just now heish but yeah um I I would say it's got to that point now that I think we've said it before that we can't really measure ourselves against Rangers anymore I think Rangers have to come back for these and and the starting point for them is just getting something from us for us now I think we have to look at a higher level I think the squad are capable of that and I really do feel strongly about Europe being our main barom this season um obviously I think these games are going to be massive and I think these games are obviously why when you you know like the majority of the fans pay mental money and week and week out and it's just a it's so satisfying to get one over your Rivals but yeah the fixture um is is in is becoming so so so one-sided now and I'm saying that in a position of Glee of course I understand the things can change um they're all going to change very quickly though because I think Celtic you know have got such a good contingency that if key players do leave if they see with the bench today what we've got to bring in you know what I mean and you look that that was the main thing for me when I looked at Celtics bench and then I looked at Rangers bench and that was vast vast levels in difference the quality we brought on player for 11 million pounds bringing on Adam EA who help has won a league in a cup last season and then you're looking at who Rangers brought on that boy Ross o land and I would absolutely hate to be in their position and you know thankfully we're not thankfully um thankfully we are in a position now where we kind GL at this and I hope it continues for the years to come heish but yeah and answer your question I think it's got to that stage now where this fixture that I think C have just overwhelming favorites man for man uh far stronger on the pitch and even when as I said on the to Saturday the video when the Dugout was getting just a far better manager and staff there um and I can't see that changing certainly this season I can't see that changing anytime soon yeah I mean you talk about the the subs bench Stevie but you look at the the lineup that started the game and um like the player for player it's so much stronger than than Rangers and the midfi the Midfield especially Bernardo McGregor hatti against diandy Baron and Sterling like it is one hell of a a golfing in class um Nicholas Kon against H Jeffy again is like a a hell of a a mismatch for me H da maida against Tavern we know how that goes now that's not a surprise kogo against those two those to whoever the hell they pulled off the street to play at the back today um you're just licking your lips and this is how we all feel as fans this is how we feel these games should go but Celtics still need to turn up and play their football and we did that today the the interesting thing for me was that Rangers actually started the game pretty well certainly they were they were aggressive in their press K McGregor wasn't getting time on it you have had a better view at the game I guess than me but we were we were nervy at the start of that game we couldn't really get out um and Rangers had you know no major chances but a couple of half chances balls fired across and I think a header went wide um you know the the start of the game as much as I say it was really easy looking back the the overall game the the start of the match was um was interesting yeah he um the opening 10 minutes I feel were on there raack and we weren't on it at all think M and we said before the game that Rangers have always had that holding two clemont's always deployed to holding midfielders and then he went with a classic number 10 the number 10 was always a balloon whether that was Todd canwell or um Thomas Lawrence like they were they never had the legs and that's why we overran them but I noticed today he went with a flat three with Dandy um Wonder kid Baron and also what his face and sterin as well so it went with ro three obviously um in Midfield and for the first 10 minutes I thought you know and it wasn't just me everyone around us 112 was thinking Christ it was a casea he's got Brandon's number here but we felt Rangers are actually doing something different here um and it was a really big chance I think it was proper I believe it was that missed the header and I think it was prop I'm sure it was there was one in the first minute that proper had literally first minute you know they got a free kick but I I think it maybe maybe uh ders but it was right before our disallowed goal right before the disallowed goal but um that's what I mean that one I thought it was proper but again I've literally not right I've thought so any highlight so I'm willing to be conncted there but yeah as it could it could it could have been Roy Cropper I don't really care to be honest no um so that was that was the the main part the fact that we we Marshall that well and we seen it out after the first 10 minutes which rightly you know as you said um we wen't on it at all and generally it was a pretty flat performance I think the the key one for me was that when Pao Bernardo get a real grip in that game I thought he was magnificent a tremendous performance um and unfortunately I was actually going to speak about Pao Bernardo specifically in the pressor today and some guy for the the rags got there beheading so I just I just went you know what I'm not going to ask one of the four questions I'm just going to say fair enough but I thought Bernardo when he got the grips with the game I think Celtic really up to Rangers couldn't live with us after that um and Bernardo was a real key focal point for how we ran out with the three points and how we put in the performance that we had everything went through him and he was so combative as well heh you know um I think he will be a massive player for us this season permanently now under here under Rogers he's settled he knows what it's all about but just yet again that is another game where poo Bernardo against Rangers has terrorized him quietly in fact in the past he's been quietly efficient but see there he really dominated it he actually put a real rubber stamp on his authority in there today um and when po Bernardo got the GS with that I think that's when Celtic started playing and another one I noted as well first half down the Rings fullbacks and Wingers are just hammering them all game their fullbacks couldn't quot with that we always do Taz here was was going to be a weakness we said that and I would hate to be in a position where as a Celtic fan if we had a captain that was getting bed and routinely humiliated and he's still starting the first game of that the SE starting one of these games um I've been a position with raion and human about that it's mad that they don't seem to be doing that it's not a problem but see you notice that today Major gling weakness with Hefty and Taver they never had the legs to cope with the likes Alister Johnson Greg Taylor da MAA and Nicholas K and we had players just overloading it and bombing it down there and it's no surprise that we got a first goal um from the from the RNG as well we always seem to score a goal like that against Rangel yeah it was it was a goal I felt it's a good point you make because I felt like i' seen that goal and like you can imagine Leo abada being on the end of that kind of goal um I think you're just forgetting maybe that James tavers is are a Hall of Famer at Rangers you maybe just need to remember that mate I'm sure he'll be back there very soon when he he scores a free kick against uh Dundee or something in a few weeks time um so much you spoke about there poo Bernardo was excellent he's actually I don't know if I've just never noticed this about Bernardo but players were bouncing off Bernardo to like he looked really really strong really good in tight areas and I'm so excited to see what he can do going forward he had a big part in that first goal aliser Johnson did really well to get onto that first goal as well um like really well I thought to get onto the pass and and put it across obviously dies and mid is there um I thought that that was the main moment in the game our disallowed goal I thought that was actually in a weird way as much as it was chocked off and by the way extremely close you won't have seen this but extremely close H and the camera angle VAR is using for me isn't good enough um I don't know how they can't get a better camera angle but anyway um I thought that moment just really gave the team confidence got the stadium going again um because it had been a nervous start and I think it also planted uh you know a seed of Doubt at least into all those rangers players because from that point it really wasn't much of a a contest we just kind of had to weather that early the Early storm for from Rangers we knew they wouldn't be able to keep up and they didn't really create anything really they had maybe a couple of e half chances but it's not as if we were getting absolutely battered um the first goal as we see is you know great dies and MERS in the end of it second goal fabulous kyogo passes it into the corner reminded me a bit of the McGregor goal against Rangers at hamen all of those years ago I think one of our Pal's gamber um mentioned that it was a bit like kiyo's goal against Fen Vos as well when that BR J passed the way passed it into the net and at that stage you're you're two n up and the game's kind of done already yeah it also reminded me of not a Cy player but Tony Cross scored a kind of similar goal just passed it in and it was some B on I think it might have been against valid or something but anyway I'm not going I know is the the Real Madrid sort of podcast that is it um yeah the open I think by the way the the ball bernaldo played to Alistar Johnson was fantastic for the the first goal Johnston his cut back was fantastic too um it was just yeah a really well W goal um and also I shout out to one of the Celtics greatest players over the years James Tav for sleeping at the back post again they they some gimmick from them they do it all the time it really is and as I say like I I would be absolutely human and you'd be demanding like contracts getting ripped up seen that time and time again but again that's not a problem D Powerhouse in this fixture that's like he has just dominated Tavern now like obviously you first starting seeing it in the two each game where Drew under an and second season but that 33 game at I Brooks where he scores in 21 seconds and sets up the John winstrom OG um goodbye never forgetting all that last season and then there again D MAA has just bodied that guy to the point where I say da MAA is just undroppable for these fixtures fantastic player he really is um I you know that it was a really key moment the the dis go though because there was some scenes when it went in obviously V takes that away and you're like come on we just spend two minutes of euphoria and then you're like that was all for nothing but D the key thing there was the attitude he because yeah yeah how many times it could have deflated us yeah how many times have we seen that before right where Rangers have had a fair few disallowed goals against us like last season season before they always seem to just cave after that and go the p and go what's the point what's the point it's not fair whereas with SEL it there you know as I say rightly or wrongly it's dis allowed I've not seen it but the main thing is the attitude after it they was SP on and you know what it's um gave us a key focus into where the the weaknesses is is for them do that again a we bit quicker we get a goal and we did so the attitude um and the energy and the enthusiasm from the team after riding out the shaky 10 minutes cannot be understated because in these fixtures as well what it takes is a bad call it takes is something going against you and the clows start getting deflated as you say some players as well with the confidence dips but immediately I noted after that the socer McGregor sort of rounding and G up the players and you just knew you just felt we' be in safe hands after that and again by the way let's not forget K McGregor I would say in the first half was they fully on it but I was really happy because last season we dominated games against Rangers because Callum McGregor had to be on it and he pretty much was like um other than the three three game hbrooks um he was a main man in Midfield it was good to see there that w k McGregor May off been brilliant all game some like Bernard just goes and steps up and that really encourages me that there's more responsibility being taken now I'm on the rest of the team and it's not just always on the captain anymore for these games yeah McGregor did his interview after the game in Sky alongside Nicholas Co and he he spoke about the the game plan basically being overloads in the middle of the park we want to get as many players into the middle of the park he said obviously Al Greg Taylor's part of that other players and then he said we want to get it through the lines and we want to get it to the front three as quick quickly as possible and you saw that today in the first half how many times did Nicholas Kon get the ball and he was like he had Acres of space or he had one Rangers player that that Hefty to run at and I thought Nicholas Kon in the first half was was magic Nicholas Kon looks unbelievable and but the thing I love about him is there's more to come because there's still things he he does and you go see if you just tighten that up slightly you're going to be unbelievable but he looks so quick he looks so alert I think Nicholas Kon I I honestly cannot believe the change in that guy from last season I I I honestly in the summer I I was thinking this guy just doesn't doesn't have it he's not going to have it and now he he looks Sensational I I love him um and and he was BR in that first half kogo obviously got his goal arguably could have had two arguably could have had three cuz he he missed that um chance in the second half that he just never looked convince him with at all but he was brilliant in that first half just a total uh new for that Rangers backline MAA was brown I actually tweeted it half time Stevie and I basically went through the entire team and said he was brown he was brown cuz Bernardo was brilliant K was brilliant kyogo was brilliant maida was brilliant Alistair Johnson was brilliant Greg Taylor was brilliant um Liam schales had a fabulous game today Carter Vickers H who just always goes under the radar but Carter Vickers was brilliant I mean those two at the back I mean I know we've signed Austin trust we all we all think he's probably going to come in and be our Center back but like you're not taking Liam scales out right now after that kind of performance so um you know and even at the end Casper schmeichel's making saves hopefully i' not left anyone out there I just thought it was a brilliant team performance it's waiting on your a just saying how amazing I was to so um no I've got to say I know I brought I bring everything down don't me me my scarf I'm a real Celtic fan um I've got to say Willam scills you know those first 10 minutes I thought it was genuinely a nightmare and then see after that Liam sces was terrific I'd like to see the stats and of Jes at one because nothing could by him in there and there was at times as well just there was a one on one second half I think it was at ad Lawrence was running towards him scales win the ball but I have to give a shout out to fashi because he covered like 50 yards outstanding outstanding and that's it this team are just working for each other now we saw in preseason we saw against Kelly we saw against hibs twice and now we seen it against and then today they've just kicked on and more most surprisingly too I actually think we can play better like I don't think I'm out order saying that I think we've played better this season and I think at times in the second half it got to be a bit swappy and Scrappy I think it was fair last 10 last 10 15 minutes I thought we're really poor like we we kind of let Rangers into it but it was because the the game was one so you're beating Rangers three now you're missing so many other chances and you're basically taking the first 10 minutes off and the last 10 minutes off like it is it it must it must be so destroying to be a ranger fan and and turn not turn up but to turn the TV on and and watch that today and see a see a team that is so far ahead them we we obviously spoke in the the the Brandon Roger first spell about there being such a golf and listen I'm not going to say there's more of a golf now or anything like that because there was a we're beating him 5-1 and all that you know home and away that season but there is a huge Gulf now as well when you look at those those teams today and I don't even think Rangers have much else to offer that's the thing no I don't and I'll keep it very brief on them simply because this was all about us today but yeah um I I'll go back to it again Rangers main issue is the fact that year after year they've basically said where the where's the problem why the rewarding failure they are not getting ready they Old Guard that constantly let him down and so they thought is a bit of success when they get rid of like the nights of barisich Lindstrom Legend and Conor Goldson every I mean seem forget the fact that they've t on the a there and I clocked him at times in that game H and he just didn't want to get over the halfway line he was de he was he just looked so done um serious Ser didn't even look he didn't even look like angry at all he just looked totally Chris Chris Boyd in Sky Sports Maybe ER came out a bit later on but he looked deflated as well I was see have you've got remember he's Bly disappointed so no we'll keep it with that with him I I think this was all just about Celtic C the dominance on this fixture C their dominance now and it's a real it's a real good position to be in with International break now that we've got that I mean can you imagine we drop points there or something and we've get two weeks off it's not the greatest of positions to be in everybody's a bit down after AR they but no after that there today um just real superiority all over this fixture all over Glasgow just a real confidence um all around Celtic now everything's looking very good with had a fantastic week and that was big because after submitting you were maybe thinking will the club invest in the transfers will they will they actually spend big money and then you're thinking what about the Champions League are we going to get a horror show of draws and then there was a lot of a Rangers after they won 6 nothing remember against Ross County there was all this chat about them finally going to Celtic Park and um getting a result for the first time since 2020 none of that's happened yet again um it's just turned out to be a really good week and we enjoy the international break and I think to it would be good for the guys that have just joined such as angles and trusty and everything after they well angles will be joining International set up W with Belgium they'll be wanting to come back and get a good sort of full week of training after the Internationals too look really really looking for to the Hearts game it's it's exciting yeah it's it's fantastic we've not even mentioned K McGregor's fabulous goal um maybe slightly taken down by the fact it was a deflection slightly but it's a it's still a sensational Celtic moment and it's now McGregor's now scoring virtually every Sunday that we play must be like one of the top scorers in the the Premiership this season and was Steve Clark in attendance again he wasn't no but um uh blofeld from James Bond was there H Kristoff Waltz the the actor you could say it was a waltz for Celtic this uh this afternoon Joe Hart was there as well Stevie um he was actually filmed railing the team up before the match Brant which was was fabulous um that that McGregor goal was was was brilliant I mean what a moment I laed off the sofa uh when that McGregor go went in I actually did I didn't even in part of this might be it's like midnight and that when the go went in I can't make too much noise here but I didn't even like go like mad I just stood up and went like that I was just like oh my God what a moment the captain scoring a goal like that to go 3-0 up against Rangers it's I just I just love I just love watching this team at the moment um they're an absolute joy to watch the way they move the ball the players we've got to look forward to and then you see someone like angles coming on for the final half an hour um and he just looks like he's going to fit in seamlessly like I thought he looked he looked pretty pretty good all things considered um mowen came on as well obviously you mentioned like Eder coming on and James Forest coming on for his 500th game Stevie he got a huge evation he looked Lively as well we just have so many options now um what was the atmosphere like today the atmosphere was good although I would say um the these these daytime kick off I mean you're always going to compare it again arm you to the the0 that's always been a pical I think Sunday at this time the crowd were as up for it as possible I would say I mean the times was a b a dip in the second half and the guys green Brigade could only do so much but I overall I think the good thing is the fans stuck with a team it was a really um those open in 10 minutes as I say the fans stuck with it and we still generating an atmosphere you know what's like in this in these type of game when something goes again I mean as I said the game it could have been n and fans could have been on players backs I do Noti scales um was was very accomplished in those those open in 10 minutes or so but again there was no to get on his back there was a lot of encouragement and then as soon as we got that offside goal everybody seemed to get right up for it as well so I I would love to see um I think I might be I'm not Celtic fans I want to see in Celtic when they be po they I think one maybe one the midweek game per season would be amazing that would be brilliant I mean I don't know why you would have it because it's a great product for Sky um it's something to build on and it would be just it be the atmosphere whether it's I I Celtic Park I don't care but I think there always should be a midweek game because the Sunday um 12 or half 12 kickoffs they do my head in um and it's more it's more booing time after it and everything but I would like to see the turn of the midweek kickoff again is that you hinting to get away to the p I won't keep you for pi up the but have a couple tonight don't worry about that I've to go pick up the way for me yeah Neil lenam was at the game as well today so good good to see him uh Celtic Park um yeah it was H I think when we get the the personally speaking I think when we get the 5% away supporters in the stadium it'll make a difference to the the atmosphere like the atmosphere sounded great and it's like I just think it's a it's almost just because Celtic were so far ahead of Rangers and there's no away fans there um The Atmosphere I Thought sounded great but it sounded just like people were were were just almost treating it like an average victory for us and but I think that would change we go forward and get away fans back into the stadium um but yeah fabulous stuff H just briefly I won't keep you for much longer what was the script in The Press Room after the game what what was Brandon Rogers saying um was actually their manager that came in first that was excuses about how could I easily been 31 32 or 33 I can't remember I can't I know I can't I did he say that did he say 3 three he did he did I didn't I didn't even record it but um I'm sure it'll be out tomorrow at some point or it'll be on C or whatever genuinely say it could if it took chances it could have been three each because they mentioned the whole 14 attempts to 13 attempts thing oh knew he would do that the stats were very even by the way Stevie but that does not tell the story of the game anyone watching that game will know that Celtic was so dominant yeah but it was more what Brandon said Brandon was um seemed quietly happy like uh it wasn't given it wasn't the big dog Brandon that we used to see where he that ego just swells up but um no seemed he was really happy he said at the work that was done this week with the transfers especially he talked up poo Bernardo as well and um this is quite important as well so he really really biged I've actually sent it over to you so um I don't know if you'll play that do tomorrow's video okay sent it over an email but you'll hear it and he really um pra Liam scales he he did not he really went out the way actually to say just how important Liam skills was last season because I think the question was you know we are trust Austin trust already coming in how is Liam sk's position going is it going to be under threat or is it going to be players that will have to look out for competition but cly going off that performance today and going off the way that he spok about him I think um Liam skills is going to be the first choice on CCV for some time to come but again we'll be able to hear that one tomorrow okay interesting um just fabulous stuff everyone as I always say after these games I hope you just have a a wonderful time wherever you are in the world whatever time it is I'll be heading to my bed after I get this video up and uh you can just all look forward to waking up in the morning and just you know that feeling when you wake up and you just remember that you've you've battered your Rivals um so many Good Times ahead uh for this team this season Champions League H fixtures have come out we'll take a look at them in tomorrow's video uh and it just paves away for for a a fantastic campaign I can't wait for it um final note I thought the green Brigade displays were were great today uh one before the game there was one just before the second half as well so fantastic work from from them as always uh final comments Stevie and then we'll we'll let you go well nearly ask is heish what about Rangers Health now oh fabulous fabulous fabulous stuff listen Stevie I know you've hang about for a while so I massively appreciate your your your arm doing all right is it is it managed to to survive us switch in between switch in between but yes look the people um the people in oppressed countries obviously mour my situation here I think there'll
