most of us get away with relatively dry night with clear skies but towards the Northwest we've always got this line of showers feeding through towards the Peak District temperatures dipping down to around 7° waking up tomorrow morning it's not a bad start it is fine and dry to the East and towards the southern part of our patch but the more we push through the day those showers get energized and they are going to be fairly sharp we could even feel some hail fall out of the sky temperatures really struggling about 14° but because it's going to be Breezy and there's a wind coming down from Northwest it's going to feel more like 8 and N those are numbers that we normally get in November it's going to be cold octopus energy sponsors ITV Central [Music] weather so November temperatures in champagne celebrating as 1700 prisoners were let out of jail early walking free 40% of the way through their sentences instead of 50 to ease chronic overcrowding but is there enough support to prevent pensioners in the end only one labor MP actually rebelled but 52 others decided not to vote our political editor Robert peston is in the House of Commons so Robert Victory then for the Prime Minister but it's not over is it well the p pain ful victory in the sense that the vast majority of Labor MPS wish that K St hadn't done this I'm reminded that during the general election campaign only weeks ago at no point did K starma say that his first action as prime minister that would directly affect people's living standards would be to take up to £300 away from millions of pensioners many of them low incomes they are means testing now the El eligibility to the winter fuel payment it will only go to people with pension credit and as you say you know labor well only one labor MP voted against probably a dozen of those people who abstained really did it to show how angry they are but don't forget there are another several labor MPS who were expelled only recently for doing something similar Nations League bye-bye today we'll see warmer temperatures moving in from the East especially around tea [Music] time Hines beans sponsors ITV National Weather good evening to you staying Breezy out there for the time being bris winds for many of us blustery showers and longer downpours in the next 24 hours together with a little more in the way of September Sunshine developing low pressure anchored to Southern Scandinavia will provide us with brisk winds and blustery showers particular across the North and the Northwest in the next day or two elsewhere staying a little drier and temperatures a little lower than we'd like given the time of year particularly in the next few evenings and nights by day any September Sunshine really making all the difference particularly as those winds start to slack and come the end of the week in the meantime clear of Skies to end the day for the vast majority but that patchy rain taking a little longer to clear from the southeast and further blustery showers and longer downpours continue to roll through Scotland Northern Ireland and Northern England through the night and into the small hours some of these turning into some longer downpours it will be a lively start to the new day with those brisk winds and blustery downpours rolling through these areas otherwise staying a little drier a little clearer a crisp start to the new day but so much cooler than recent mornings temperatures dipping as low as just four or 5° in some towns and cities and a little lower in the countryside too so certainly a different feel out there into the new day very autel with beautiful blue skies and plenty of perky Sunshine but those blasy showers across the North and the Northwest become a little more widespread as the day wears on they'll be cropping up almost anywhere rolling through at quite a pace in those brisk winds some will give a bit of a deluge in places but Spells Of Sunshine in between making all the difference it's just a shame about the temperatures being very much on the cool side just 16° at best Hines beans sponsors ITV National Weather we've got anemic Moon we've got scrubbed cauliflower do you know I have prestigious position you can [Music] get Bing yes oh it's a wonderful goal [Music] we've done it for the nation we've done it for [Music] England would you believe it we're a team that represented the modern England [Music] the greatest man one could remember [Music] remember good evening for Wembley on a landmark night for the England Captain Harry Kane who becomes just the 10th man to play 100 times for the three L as he lines up against Finland it's a big night for Lee carsley as well managing at Wembley for the very first time hoping to replicate the win in Dublin and take another step closer to promotion back to the top tier of the Nations League a meeting of Nations separated by a splash of the Irish sea Lee Carley takes over the senior England team licking their wounds from final frustration Harry Kane blocked again deam rice the man who used to wear the island shirt has the home support Green With Envy rice sacka back to Rice too easy this it's greish oh and now he has R Sal into the Irish wounds their first victory over Ireland in this city in 60 years given to them by two men who used to wear green this is how things stand in the group England are just behind Greece on goal difference after they beat Finland 3-0 in Atkins on Saturday England played Greece at home and and travel to Finland in October and remember there only guaranteed promotion in the Nations league if you finish top of the group the first home game since the final of the Euro sees wemy close to a sellout even on a school night Jack Reish hopes to celebrate his 29th birthday in stal after a very impressive showing in Dublin Finland have never beaten England losing nine times in 11 matches they lost 5 n on their last visit to Wembley back in 1984 and the two teams haven't met in 23 years since Sven yor and Erikson's first competitive match in charge as Fen will be remembered here tonight before kickoff good evening Roy Keane and Ian Wright are with us and every time there's a new manager club or country it doesn't matter everyone wants to say it's refreshing it's different we can see how it's going to be can you see how it might be under Lee carsley after what we saw in Dublin yeah I think so simply because of the way the he's under 21's played they played with creative players from the back and you know in that number six kind of role he wants these creative players to come deep and get the ball through the lines we saw that happening a few times obviously you know Gordon's runs from out to in with ar Kane going deep you know there's a lot of football played like Trent playing it into the middle them turning and to Kobe and that it it looks like there was a lot going on so and it in the first half it was it looked very good and we saw that with the second goal it's easy to sort of look at it now isn't it and it was funny that de said oh no we score goals like that the G Southgate as if to say just because he's a new manager doesn't mean everything that went beforehand prot he protecting his old man yeah I suppose so definitely who was out standing the weekend best player on on the park but yeah there's going to be that um that perception over the next few games or England have things change the attack players are little bit more freedom there's been stuff coming up or controlling games but it was quite easy for England against um against Ireland and I think it'll be the same tonight might be even easier at home tonight against probably a lesser team so yeah I think first half was fine I think but we have they have to show them more a dominant performance over the 1990 minutes I think the first half against ler team isn't enough they have to get into good habits but the attacking players are still doing the right thing in the second half which we didn't see the weekend but I expect to see it tonight Lei admitted he was a little bit short of confidence going into last weekend which he's only human that's that's understandable should he be more confident that out yeah listen it wasn't going to be an easy day for him again he played for Ireland it was TP before the game with the national Anem he went to the wrong dog all these little things you control a manager but I think he be delighted to get that out of the way a win clean sheet back here tonight against a team that are fully expected to win and we all expect to see goals you know I think I think when the fa looked back at how that went that first game for him I thought they could have maybe looked out for him a little bit better you know protected him a bit more chaperon him around certain things he's somebody that's obviously got the opportunity of a lifetime and he's thinking purely on that so for them thinking that this this isn't Gare you know give this guy a chance to just focus on what he's doing should have chaon maybe alert him to what the pitfalls will be in regards to the that's all it is because like I say it's the first game and he's not to know but good luck to him any hopefully his football continue to talk for him well he's made four changes to the team this evening from the one that won in Dublin he's changed both Center back so stones and conza get a start this evening Rico Lewis at left back will be very interesting to see as will Angel Gomez in Midfield in for kobby Meo to partner Dean rice Jack Gish played really well didn't he at the weekend just thinking about it Bellingham foden and Palmer missing from this and played very well in that Central position back at Manchester city gundan is back de bruy of course foden so chances to play in this Central position for club and Country might be few and far between so that underlines just what an opportunity last weekend and this is tonight yeah it is and um thought he played well the other day and like like like Roy said yes we were very much in control of this game and he had that role where he could pop up anywhere we know that he's capable of getting in the box and doing that we know he's capable of of of getting on the ball and progressing the ball and you know he's somebody that he needs to he needs to have good performances in games like this because like the names you mentioned there they will be probably in front of him so he's got to take opportunities like this interesting Aston Villa fans said that that obviously was the role he played at Villa Park yeah yeah of course but obviously there different challenge City and for for England and he was the star man at Villa it's a different challenge him but the that was an important game for Jack and again tonight and what he's got to add to his game we all know he's talented got lovely Swagger about him it's that end product to stay in the team of man city in England cuz you've just mentioned the players who aren't in the squad at the moment they will certainly push him so again and very important night for Jack I think because if he does play well here he can change perceptions about where he could play regular in which position he could play regularly surely that's that's that has to be his driving and I think the manager again what he's been talking about the attacking players have a bit more freedom then you want players like Jack in the team there's obvious other side of the game you got to improve on of course but what when the lesser team that they're playing Saturday and tonight Jack has to show strength and the end product in terms of a goal or a final pass is key for him tonight but he really enjoyed himself at the weekend that's for sure here is the team that the Finland boss Maru Cana is sending out this evening the goalkeeper petki plays for B lus had such a brilliant season last season in winning the Bundesliga Glen Kamara in Midfield once of Rangers and Arsenal and Tim auki up front Five Seasons at Norwich now plays in the MLS for Minnesota United quite fashionably canera is a former National under 21 team coach he led the senior side to a first and only major tournament in 2021 when they played in the euros and here he is with Gabriel [Music] Clark Maru finland's first game in the Nations League at the weekend was a tough experience so 3 days later some up tonight yeah we're a bit disappointed after the gree game but we have to try to bounch back back and uh of course the task tonight is very tough to need uh Euro finalist England away but we have nothing to lose so we we do our best that's for sure and obviously we have to work very hard and and defend very well as a as a compact unit England have Harry Kane you have your record scorer team auki back tonight as well what dimension is he potentially adding yeah we know that yeah he top scorer of our country and uh he can score goals of course and not so much lately with his club team but uh we know his uh qualities and he's good um Counterattack player and uh he has experience to play at top level and against these kind of guys which we are meeting tonight so H hopefully he can score a couple of goals England on the new management what did you make of them um and their showing in Ireland uh very impressive uh that they were very active and created a lot of good chances and defended very well so yeah uh G get a great job as well and I appreciate that a lot to get England twice twice into the Euro finals and yeah but now okayy have tried something something new and very Dynamic team that could I say we shall see what happens thank you yeah you're welcome so Wembley's going to pay tribute to Sven Y and Erikson ahead of this evening's match his first competitive game was England's last meeting with Finland at anfield in 2001 England conceeded an early goal before Michael Owen and then David Beckham sealed the comeback Victory we hear from of our Collective misery on the pronunciation of your name well uh in Swedish uh it's swen yuran Ericson swen yuran Ericson uh but it doesn't matter he a new manager he gave me the opportunity gave me the chance he gave me the belief and he continued to do that the only thing uh we must hope is that we're going to do play good football and do good results Sven had the ability to really connect with the person how are you how's the family how's life he was always making sure you're okay making sure you're ready to you know come to an England camp and [Music] work I look forward to it it's Germany England who we were certainly going there as underdogs and I think sending away kind of made that clear in terms of you know the outside noise if you want to call it that there was a togetherness there was a hunger desire and to go there produce the performance we did do was magnificent I always been obsessed with the football this squad is the strongest Squad I ever had the golden generation the team was that good exciting flare Freedom bravery at times we was at Elite level Fen was getting the best out of that group we should have done better I thought honestly that we had a good chance to win the tournament unfortunately tomorrow we have to go [Applause] home back then it was a standard 442 you know around the world the conundrum of who plays in Midfield that would have been the frustrating part of the job he gave us a framework and the players fulfilled that to our full potential probably not just want to he your first choice of seele but it was [Music] n um it would have been a tough time I had and went through similar thing my private life is my private life as players you wanted to protect him because he's protected you what we saw of the character was was a lovely with Sven in charge and with Sven then free to follow his football future with our best wishes the dream is of course to reach a final and win it I felt Sven could have got more out of us and yeah you would have hoped if you did say that yeah we would have we would have kicked on and and and who knows what could have happened from them you've placed the weight of a Nation on the shoulders of a what I am you want to be left with a beautiful memory of him and enjoy the life love football in my opinion uh yeah Sven number one I was proud every day I had the England job I had a wonderful [Music] life sven's funeral is in Sweden on Friday and Wembley will remember him before kickoff the seing let's catch up then with the rest of the week's action starting with Scotland's trip to Lisbon who gave France the lead against Belgium his sixth goal for his country Usman demele looked dangerous and he got his reward with a wonderful individual goal in the second half with Italy winning the other game against Israel France now share second spot in the group with Belgium on three points Spain's potent attack was on song early on some trick iory from Lin yamal found hosu Gregor coobel it feels like an important night for for many in the England setup tonight at Wembley there's always expectation so after the weekend the Good Start what have you emphasized in the last few days well I think you it's important that we look forward to playing at home I think um you know playing at Wembley we should expect to put on exciting uh High Tempo performances um attacking um and hopefully give the fans give the fans a good game to see Angel Gomez his first England started in Midfield you know him well what is he going to bring hopefully he'll bring uh control to the game um hopefully he'll dictate the play um he'll find passes in forward areas and hopefully link up the game um well you know it's important that we don't put too much pressure on it is his young player is making his debut but you I've got a lot of confidence in him and Rico Lewis in at that problem position left back is is he filling in or is this role going to suit him I think we've we've got to we've got to be creative with u with with the way that we play I think um it's a it's a role that he can play a role that that I've played him at before uh you know we've got we've got three or four options as well that we can we can maybe maybe Tinker a little bit and change but um again another player that I've got a lot of lot of confidence and belief in Jack Gish and Anthony Gordon get to go again what more do you want to see well uh the same as the other day I thought they were both really exciting really positive um you know they take the ball uh they get you up the pitch uh they were creative um you know obviously Jack getting his goal as well it was it was good seat something that I think he can he can do more of as as can Anthony um Anthony was a real threat I think we have to be mindful that you know we have to manage their minutes as well so uh but hopefully we'll be a good position and it's your first time as player or manager walking out of this tunnel this evening um what a moment yeah it's a proud moment I think um you know it's it's a it's an honor to be to be in this position I understand the responsibility that goes with it um you know a night that I'm I'm really looking forward to and and hopefully it will be a memorable one all the best thank you he definitely seems a little bit more relaxed this evening and he's a very Hands-On tracksuit manager as you can see overseeing the warmup that's very much the way that he is boy let's talk about angel Gomez 24 7 years at Manchester United only half of appearances and has gone off to Europe to make his career he's playing for Le what did you make of his performance what did you notice when he came on the other day what you know the first thing you looked at he looked comfortable out there obviously the game you could say was OB Ted and bar but he looked comfortable U out the pitch he looked comfortable in The Possession he looked like he belonged out there he's obviously had to go away against to lead man united a big club to go out and the experience and get regular football the big plus as well for the manager he's worked with him previously that has to be a big plus that's why Le probably got the the job at the moment and um and even look at him his body language he doesn't look all giddy some players get excited they look a bit nervous but he looks comfortable I think right you was speaking him after the gar and he looked full of beans as you'd expect I think um that that does come from his upbringing as well he came through the Manchester United Academy obviously got to the first team and realized maybe it's not going to happen for me and he did he took the took the chance like you see a lot of them do he's G to B to France and then yeah he went to Le they they they they loaned him out to Bist and he played games you know when he came back to France you know he's one of the the leading assists cuz he's that player he he's he's he's the number six he won't be passing and standing still he moves like he's moving now all over place he's very busy very technical bu's good I mean people will no they haven't seen him before he's not big for modern day football he's 5'6 how' you compensate for the fact to borrow for a boxing a good big and always be a good little how are you going to compensate for the fact you won't win a power back well he's obviously got to be be smack he's back with his movement he's got obviously a lot of football intelligence and it's not helding it back yet has it he's playing International Football so he's doing something right he's busy he affs the game he he look at he he want to walk on the ball he want to and tonight we talk about a defensive side but also of course tonight when they have a lot of possession we show he good in terms of his possession his decision making I think you know when you look at his size he's obviously played a lot of football when he was younger he's probably going to have to get himself into a position where he's not around bodies so this is why probably the movement will come from because he's got to go and find Space quickly and then technically he's got to make sure he gets it off quickly CU if he gets involved in bodies he might get the ball that says when again the other challenge have against bigger players they do seem to be smarter because they had to learn quick when they were a bit younger absolutely what about Rico Lewis as Gabriel said to Le Car there's a chance here just looking at L left back this is Luke Shaw lot of injuries Levi CS a center back really played left back the other day Ben chilwell yeah out in the cold at Chelsea Tyreek Mitchell as well there is a chance here for Rico Lewis isn't there and he'll play enough games at Manchester City even if he plays more often as right back I think the modern day fallback knows they have to play Both Sides I think um um especially today you know playing at left back we know his capabilities in respect of his technical ability talking about somebody who's come through Man City and he's in in the first team and he's playing quite regularly he's not going to be somebody that's going to have to make overlaps around Gordon that I think that's for Trent side Trent's going to be doing that so he'll tuck in but of a a player and a technical player and what he's he reach I think being at city and playing at the level he's at L I think that people don't realize how good he is because he's amongst such elite players not just a game just to training the messages he'll be getting off pep every day in his staff biggest confident mik can give him particularly last year when he come in we do a job for City he never weakened that team you never felt or they taking a chance with this kid if anything he added to him he's getting more games know getting more experience but to be in that man city environment and be walking with pep the staff must be amazing and do you think that's why Lee Cary has no problems about playing him left back even if maybe on his fast forward it says right back you know what I mean I I think obviously list that's a plus plus r player that you can play in a couple of roles obviously you worry as they get older you you want to be jack of all trades are master and none but the fact you can play in a couple of different positions which you have we have to do at Man City anyway is a plus always an opportunity beckoning then for young players with this England setup it seems next we're going to hear from Harry Kane as he reaches a landmark tonight as he set to become just the 10th Man to win 100 caps will put the captain's memory to the test very shortly [Music] [Music] ain't it good good good Ain it good so good so ain't it good when you know what you have and the new Suzuki comparison website you can feel as satisfied as Leonard and Simon go do [Music] compare today is bring your kids to workday let's go play [Music] [Music] tonight webbley celebrates the Harry Kane era and his career has always been about the numbers with goalscoring records falling along the way tonight he reaches a very significant Milestone as he joins the fre Line's most elite club this is not even something I think I dreamed of I dreamed of playing for England but to get 100 caps is beond my worldest dream Harry Kane comes on to make his senior England debut at the age of 21 the goal I remember most would be my debut goal to come on at Wembley for Wayne someone I you know grew up idolizing you I was so desperate to play I was so excited to play can still kind of picture that ball floating over to me on the back stick and to score so quickly is really special it's har Kane he's not even on the field a minute or so I expected to have a chance and I always feel like if I get a chance I'll be able to put it away not a bad start the moment I think they me the most I think there's two I think my debut for sure and also when I broke the record goal scoring record against Italy away I think just coming off the back of the World Cup the disappointment the way that ended to then the first game back to be against Italy and score that goal break the record was a magical feeling goal after goal after goal from Harry Kane I've always been someone really driven and really hungry to be the best I can be and I think having that you know hunger to score in any moment has helped me achieve some of the the stuff I have for England for sure most nerve-wracking moment I'd say was my penalty against Italy in the Euro final penalty shootouts always no recking to begin with but in a final at Wembley I was happy to see that one go in that is why he's England's most cific penalty taker the two worst moments of the two final losses to get to the final was incredible but they always the hardest ones to take when you lose a final one game that stands out is England Germany in the first knout round of the US 23 atmosphere was special the game was special first knockout win against Germany in a while and uh just everything about it special I'm I'm speechless I don't know what to say do you feel under more scrutiny about your role in the England team now as you reach 100 caps would you feel more secure I don't think I ever feel secure there's always someone trying to take your place at this level I think of the back of the of the Euros you know there's a lot of talk about me personally but I think sometimes that's a lot of that's with just expectation and perception and you know when you've been delivering for so long I think you know the expectations become even higher so maybe when you just Dro below that standard there's a few more questions but I feel in a really good place and I definitely feel I got many more years for for this team py there once again on hand to release the pressure nowadays you know with the right mentality with the right physical performance you should be playing until your late 30s and I don't feel like slowing down anytime soon late 30s comfortably takes you past Peter Shelton's 125 caps that's a clear Target when you're getting far in tournaments you know the Caps start to to add up really quick and I think the last three years you know with the three tournaments we've had in that time you know the Caps have come around really quick so if I keep doing what I'm doing there's no reason why I can't you know reach [Music] if there's one ambition left what is it to win a trophy with England it always has been and always will be I think the fact that we've come so close just gives me more hunger more desire more fire in a belly to make it happen the next time and you know the World Cup in America is going to be an incredible tournament and we've got a lot of good things going for us now it's just about you know taking that next step well those are his golden boots now he was training in them yesterday I he may well play in them but there they are to celebrate fancy pair of golden boots like that you know I think you have to look at his goal scoring ability and yeah he's probably somebody who can wear golden boots we forgive him yeah well let him I mean 66 goals in 99 games there's a real symmetry about his goal scoring record so two and three and a third of his goals penalties he reck he could get a 100 goals for England and he joins that list it's quite a list there and only Billy w and Bobby Moore have Captain England more than Harry Kane he's Captain them in 72 games it' be interesting to see how Lee carsley wants him to play he admitted he wasn't his best in the summer he does like to drop deep be interesting to see that if England play quicker through Midfield can he still drop deep and get into the penalty area quickly enough where England need well I think what I think what we saw in the Republic of Ireland game that yeah you know if he does drop that he can go and get involved um but ideally this is where you want to see him I I he very surprised with that um that chance but when you look at this in this instance that's you don't get any deeper than that in respect trying to catch up with someone like golden and he's doing it you know so the main thing is is that when he comes deep there's somebody going long there's somebody going the other way you know so as he can get involved like you look at him there Gordon's gone so that's where him playing deep can really um really benefit England and you know and then just again look is he catching up with play you know you're seeing a set he probably get it it just doesn't quite get on the end of that one but like we're talking about somebody that for me you know you look where Gordon is here you look where this is where you really want want somebody you want him like you see him there see even Jack when sacka gets the ball you really want somebody in that area so that's the sometimes where you can it can fall down a bit but again you know once we're going to close down if we're getting into these kind of situations this is where I want him and tonight it's a it's a great cross from sacka he's just a bit too high for he's he's only third I say he's only 31 cuz he's looking at Ronaldo who's 39 and going hang on a second a World Cup in 2 years time a Euro's here the British St in four years time there's a lot for him still to aim for he's a great example for him we we've seen the the record Ronaldo the amount of goals he scored after getting to 30 years of age if he's fit obviously he takes penalties as well there's no reason why he can can't just continue and we always have to remind ourselves we always talk about moments and position of the the hardest part of football is putting the bond the back of the M by Fair that's not changed and he does it there's other parts of his game yeah he probably still look to improve and like all top players there's no reason why he can't continue to score goals and it's B again Ronaldo you need examples out and he looks like most players they look like good Pros now they look after themselves and if he stays injury free listen he'll continue to break records especially if he's got those Runners I thought golden done it more better than anyone I've seen for a long time in early rashford and Sterling days and if he's got that Runner and then he can every he can go and then you can feed that Runner but then you can get yourself in the Box he'll still be able to score go and it sounds like he actually wants to be driven on by people who are saying well you didn't have a great summer he said quite a few of his teammates didn't have a great summer so go on show us if you still got the hunger it looks like he's the sort of person who wants to feed off that yeah he will he probably and being a striker you always want to be proving people wrong and you're always going to be criticized AB absolutely well we are very quickly approaching kickoff here at Wembley the atmosphere beginning to build and we'll be back in a few moments time for the national anls [Music] ah joke I love that car not me go ahead pigeons make my day ah come on that design is extraordinary uh not really yes it is no it isn't yes it is [Music] no okay now Jude Bingham fit to play as well that's Sunday the 29th of September and England's men will be back here at Wembley in October to play Greece as they look to gain promotion back to the top tier of the Nations League Greece in Dublin this evening to play the Republic of Ireland well if wheny looks a bit empty at the moment because the weather's really really bad and everybody is still inside in the bars not surprisingly keeping dry there we are that would have been us we were supposed to be pitch side that would have been us if we'd been out there in that weather as well and England four changes from the weekend they've changed their Center back stones come in Lewis comes in at left back and Angelus gets start as Declan Rices Midfield pun Ry the finished goalkeeper place with by leus team who proved for Five Seasons at Norwich City up front and the goals with him um he's kept the same front four interestingly hasn't he Ali Carley Gordon Kan sacka and Gish they love these words combinations and connections don't they just trying to I suppose work off each other in an instinctive way if you play together often enough yeah um and obviously with with with Jack coming with Jack coming in and being more free to move where he wants you know there's more people more options for those for the front four and the same with someone like Gordon Gordon be able to come in and burst into those spaces it's you know what I mean it's it's very exciting and I could understand why you want to keep them together so get that familiarity and you know hopefully they can do well tonight as well yeah he's found the right dug out tonight Frank Lampard also a centuri obviously with Harry kan's golden C then Anthony Gordon he was really thoughtful and interesting I thought in the interview before the Dublin game played very well in the first half Harry Kane's family his wife and his kids as well maybe just maybe he'll be disappointed how he tailed off a little bit in the second half I think so in the second half but he's got another opportunity tonight and and the H is probably to on him to stretch team to get behind and this Finland hopefully when may be learn from Ireland if you can see people like tr get time in the ball then you've got a drop his Gordon will be running we're talking about Kane wanting to Dro the sack is still more of a dribbler Jack's more of a drib so top up to Gordon if you see that space you see your your teammates with timeing the ball you run and get behind but yeah he would be disappointed with some of his end product but he's got another opportunity tonight because you think engam will dominate possession and he will get opportunities golden boots on a golden night for Harry Kane then on the occasion of his 100th cap for the England team as we join our commentary team for this evening Lee Dixon and good evening to Sam mat and a very good evening to you mark as well hello everyone well he mentioned the significant goals of his England career but apparently Harry Kane's favorite goals in an England shirt have come up major tournaments a late winner over Tunisia in vrad and the goal that's sealed it against Germany in The Knockouts of the Euros here at the new Wembley where he has played played more games than anyone else tonight he gets his golden cap but he's always had the Golden Touch his third in England colors was a goal and six that magical moment against liua 66 goals 42 of them have been scored at home five hattricks 10 with his head 11 with his left foot 45 with his right right foot 64 of them from inside the penalty area in the 21st century he has been England's fox in the Box his role as Mor a playmaker at times he's been criticized and question but he uses Ronaldo and Tom Brady as Inspirations and now he sits on 100 England caps with these sites on 100 England goals was a little bit too emotional for one member of the Kane family but he does have two of his daughters with him on the pitch tonight and he might fancy his chances of adding to his tally against Finland taken about taken apart by Greece last week they've ConEd 14 goals in their last five games and tonight before we start he will be presented with that golden C has to become our all M goer you have to be a special England player to get to 100 caps 13 women nine men have done it beforehand but Frank Lampard Ashley Cole came in a generation har golden generation really show your appreciation five the previous nine got one of in a box Debbie huitt there as well and from a member of the golden generation the golden cap Harry Kane tonight becomes the 10th Man to enter the 1% [Music] Club the Golden Boot winner at the World Cup the Euros the Premier League the Bundesliga but what he really craves is a major tournament success with England The Family Man and the captain of England the fastest man to 100 England caps and presented with a token of their appreciation by The Finnish Captain Lucas retki before we get underway here and tonight Harry Kane hoping that he can help his new manager settle in to these very familiar surroundings the three lions are back at Wembley and it is England's first meeting with Finland in 23 years please be up standing if you're able for the national athlet of England at first finlands [Music] amen in the [Music] all [Music] [Music] make up all down get up move all around [Music] I on generative AI on AWS businesses can push the boundaries of innovation [Music] well Wembley isn't entirely for tonight but there's still a very healthy crowd to witness the 100th capap for Harry Kane who is getting wildly supported there is a small smattering of Finnish support the UK home to around about 20,000 fins some of them here tonight to watch their team try and take on the team that are very much the favorites for this group Harry Kane staying in the team that has made four changes from leag Carley's first team sheet with the head coach saying just wanted to freshen things up tonight but not disrupt the connections Finland leaning on a little bit more experience this evening than they posted against Greece tonight's Wy Stadium former well tonight we pay tribute to Sven Yan Ericson who managed England at three major tournaments across five years and who passed away last month also remember tonight the lovely Kevin Campbell Craig Shak spear who was Sam Malad I's assistant with England and Tommy Banks who passed away age 94 and was until June England's oldest living player Wembley will rise for a moments of Applause before kick off tonight shakesp Tomy 198 you will always remember referee is from Denmark tonight Martin Crow V is Rob deeper in from the Netherlands not since November 2020 of England W of Nations League fixture at home and after brushing aside Ireland they are expected to end that Trend tonight Finland kicking us off in all blue the only member of their squad who has played at Wembley before from the Rangers and Lead United midfielder Glen Kamar Lee Dixon is back alongside me in a few changes but as supp you have to be careful International Football is full of pit pulls how do England ensure they don't fall into one tonight well it's like any game individually just pride in your own performance they did play well especially in the first half but there has been changes chances for four different Personnel to show Lee Carley what they can do these are Elite athletes and with that comes a special pride in your for performance to try and get into the team for next week England setting up in the same shape as they did on Saturday front four exactly the same and Gish just found Gordon and got it back again he's one of the new starters in Angel Gomez who makes his first start in a senior England Jersey having won the under 17 World Cup as the captain and been part of that under 21 Euros winning group I think the position is in now we're going to see a lot of him in there just setting the tempo rice can just go a little bit further up field it'll just sweep everything up in the center of the park Gordon trying to pop it through the Kan heavily congested penalty area that Finland are defending well the last time that Lee Carley stro out under the arch at Wembley and it was in July and it was to see Bruce Springsteen and unless something drastic happens he will get at least six games to show and he was born to run this England team I knew he was coming 1 minute 48 Stones piing Out s okay it's TR Alexander Arnold blocked by gar first chance for maybe Finland to escape kesan trying to get away watched by Angel Gomez who is not penalized for his challenge England began in dominant Fashion on Saturday sustaining that over a longer period is the next step there was a positive reaction to Saturday's first half I know that Roy was pretty scaving about the second half when the foot came off the gas but there is a chance to go again tonight what it did shine a light on was how many good players are available to whoever gets the job full time yeah quite a few players not in the squad but we saw some really good performance Gordon one for one stood out for me something different that they didn't have in the Euros that everyone was screaming out for why isn't he on the pitch why isn't running forward and dragging the team up the pitch just needed that bit of pace certainly in the summer and he gave that at the weekend he's giving it now trying to get the better of stall produces a really good cross for Kane sucker is there couldn't finish it off and there was just enough hands on the pump for Finland to get it clear yeah brilliant run from Gordon he just looks as if he's going to go down the outside and that's what sends the fullback on his wrong foot and he just checks on that right foot just looks like he's going to cross there and then he just checks got free cross Harry Kane's just leaning back a little bit he's got a little bit of forward impetus there he's going for goal but he just tries to set somebody up in the sixy Box Marco canura the Finland manager just a little bit concerned with the way England have started here's Alexander Arnold's delivery and conza the England head on it Gordon Alexander Arnold sacka I think one or two might have been surprised that Bayo Saka was given the chance to start again tonight after playing 90 minutes lots of people talking about his load at the moment the workload he's getting through here de rice Who air kicked it back by Gomez again but finer looking to try and Escape here were you surprised to see him play again tonight or is that to do with the connections and developing those relationships it's certainly second game in Le cars he doesn't want to make wholesale changes and break all the good work that happened in that first half and that certainly sacka was part of that and it is about partnership certainly are you when I was playing it right back it was all about who I had in front of me David rastle Ray paror whoever it was Kev Campbell the late Kev Campbell my mate you create those over training sessions but more so in the games you get to know how they're going to react on the pitch and it's invaluable just to know what they're going to do without thinking about it little bit of a heavy touch there from pford juki who's a bit of a Norwich Legend he spent five years at the club means a lot to him didn't play in thir Saturday's game against Greece that is trusted tonight it's had a bit of a difficult time in the MLS where he hasn't scored too many goals playing for Minnesota United this last Gos in a Finland sh actually came against Portugal just before the Euros when he got two in 5 minutes greish belty was caught there by pelda Gordon Angel Gomez going on the outside then chopping back Rico Lewis joining in with the attack finish fullback stalls into big trouble I tell you cuz he's already got him going down the outside checking on that rifle he so quick to just check the ball back Gordon that he's got a choice to make either gets really tight on him or he gets someone around him and they do they double up on him and that just freeze up other players like GRE is just making little runs in between him Finland very much squeezed into their own half in this open 27 minutes Gordon there he goes again that's another good cross Saka it's behind him Alexander Arnold backing him up sakur has stay forward and on side Kane lurking with intent and it did take a flick off felt there and it's out for a corner for England good ball from Saka far post just Gordon goes inside and leaves Harry Kane far post has a swing at it sure which bit the defender that hit but we're about to see stra the top of his head first chance for Trent Alexander Arnold to rip a right footed Corner in on this near side [Music] meski comes and punches and gets a good punch on it by lusen goalkeeper made a mistake for the first goal against Greece on Saturday but it's brilliant for lusen might be brilliant tonight as well if england keep getting in down this left hand side where they're having real Joy with Anthony Gordon at present [Music] just looking down at hoscar in the number five Center back he's kind of leaving a big gap for stall to just be on his own with Gordon which is that's never going to work out too well he's saying I'm over here you're on your own mate finland's recent high water mark was qualification through to Euro 2020 their first ever major tournament but their form since has been sketchy at best wins have tended to come against the teams ranked below them they were well dispatched by Greece on Saturday Scotland Scotland were bossing there friendly before surrendering a lead late on in November last year San Marino scored against them there appears to be a bit of a tug-of war going on within Finland about the way the team should play the manager got an extension to his contract but the trade-off was to accept that they had to try and move on from their largely pragmatic approach might not get much choice tonight Stones coner you can see the difference already with the game playing at home against a team that's just going to sit in there slightly different well Flor as Islands were they they did have a little go pressing at times just creating a few gaps for him to pass through England but and each team are just two blocks two forwards just sniffing around the center backs and it's very slow buildup because of that Alexander coner now greish kind of play you want when you need to prize open a tightly packed defense Gordon back to greish [Music] again to was stol on this near side it's Rico Lewis his only appearance in an England Jersey came on his day vi just before his 19th birthday Kamar trying to lead Finland out of their own half for a rare forry into England territory but even that was beyond them s chunk finished support [Music] tonight Hing to witness a shock result here against an England side that they've never beaten [Music] before got get the B first the ball and at this moment in time that's proving to be quite difficult as you can see by the statistic in your top leftand Corner also they're so deep as well when they do win the ball back Kamar number 10 with six on his back is playing just in front of the back four at times that man there was the assistant coach for many years before taking the Reigns in 20 2016 they've got a chance here with TM Muki and it was good defending by England in the end and it needed to be an intervention from coner we don't want to give him too many chances that's a little GI there in between cona just loses him off his back and Lewis gets over really quickly does well that's jobs for a fullback just to squeeze in when needed corner is a flat one which is dealt with by Jack Gish well they're not going to get many corners when you hit one in like that I'm pretty sure the manager will be absolutely furious with that Lewis again backpedaling doing well he's a terrific little player is Rico Lewis rice just asking a little bit of Jordan pford there didn't really have too much to do in the game against Ireland the [Music] weekend it's Glen Kamara leads and Rangers midfielder who moved to France this summer Angel Gomez getting a little bit too aggressive on that occasion with t puki ianov stes Lewis don't mind Finland having a little bit of the ball must drop off a little bit and just let him come at you just create a little bit of space for the England players just to free the ball up a little bit Stones that's Crossfield ball to search out Kio Saka now an opportunity to parice and it's a little bit too close to Lucas forki but it's the kind of quick movement that England are going to need yeah it is he L to get in the box when he's playing a little bit of a higher role we saw that at the weekend just in that position no one gets to that near post into the Gordon trying but Harry Kane was taking that space Angel Gomez has seen a lot of the ball in the early exchanges has spent the last few years playing in France it's only 5' six as the boys were mentioning earlier on same sort of hide as Angolo con he's an excellent player his movement his technical ability Lee KY says he will be a player that can run games for England and if they want to win major tournaments they need to embrace players like him small in Statue but big on impact and that's what you got to do as well against the better teams you've got to try and control the game and that comes from controll in that Midfield area something that's been England have been criticized in towards the end of tournaments against the bigger [Music] teams and it's a positive step bringing someone who he's worked with before who has had a big influence on younger England teams if that's what they want they've got to experiment with it at the highest level this is Gordon teasing cross delt with by Kamar ni trying to make his presence felt Kamar hacking it out to KES [Music] Stones he only played 40 minutes of football for Manchester City this season but he needs to get off the bench in Ireland Michael Owen is in the Royal box tonight on a night where we remember Spen yoran Erikson he was part of the team and scored three goals in Munich the night that England had arguably their best result under the swed 5-1 the Olympia Stadium he also scored the the first ever competitive goal for England under spor and Erikson against Finland nice here's Rico Lewis Anthony Gordon it's just misc controlled it doesn't happen very often Kane good ball out toward TR Alexander Arnold Le again and againand went to cross that in and decided against it that was the one perfect for him he's got the angle quite a high line from the Finish defense it was there chose not to Anthony Gordon's got to take him down the line now the fullback two or three times now he's come inside here's his chance up he goes and he's one a corner better now next time he gets it he doesn't know where he's going to go that's what you got to do with fullbacks you just got to change him up every time you run it and give him something else to think about I mean there's a proper little gap for him to not that far far post for Harry Kane there [Music] and flooded that sixy box five bodies in and around it six in ezri Konza about 2 yds outside right under retki again be Saka who gets there first though here's the captain brish easing his way past puki K trying to stretch for this one iov did well to watch it all the way Kane was sneaking round the back oh did he eyes were lighting up there off just sticking his leg out last minut It Center back can't see him there he's just right on his shoulder really good ball in with that angle iov did really well marshalling man from Bayern Munich he plays in the second here in Germany Robert iov for inra brv Gordon greish seems to be attracting blue shirts every time he picks it up Gomez good turn tries to pop it through to Kane might come through to him stopped by retki that's good move back from England they might have got a little bit of Fortune on the way through Angel kmes was at its heart now a chance for the fins to break kesan trying to find Fuki he's still going kesan and trying to find the far corner I think there may well have been a foul in the build up to that yeah I think kza simply foul conza on the edge of the box with good break there was an opportunity just as he cuts in just inside just there but he chose not to goes down the outside gets his shot away and P food was interested certainly was now greish at the other end onto [Music] Gordon good chance for Finland just serve as a bit of a warning that for England yeah they got a couple aren't they here is Aio Saka the deflection is flapped Away by retki almost popped up over his head sacka didn't hit it great to be fair he gets a little bit of a scuff on it Defender did well but goalkeeper did better just start left down he's already down down just reaching [Music] up yeah when you play right on the edge of the defense any ball inside a fullback is dangerous sacker exploits that brilliantly well given away by stall and then a heavy touch from Anthony Gordon didn't quite manage to get it Beyond here's Harry Kane's shot I mean he gets more shots on target than anyone but it's straight the goalkeeper to be fair he just slips at the last minute doesn't he so close s nice for abine in Scotland here's sacka here's Harry Kane offside flag is up almost it's a couple of good chances now oh he's right on the shoulder again but I think he knows he almost Waits just that's not like him either normally he's brilliant at that just checking back with the defender and keeping himself on side maybe 100 caps so eager to get a goal with his golden boots misses a chance just to stay on side big opportunity they are just checking it and I think we've already seen yeah don't know why they're checking that just need to give the uh V raw deeper in something to do but it's been a couple of uh quick chances at either end just watch him the center back's in front of him he's definitely offside and as I said that's not like him he thinks maybe the fullback behind him took a chance that stall just kind of wand to be mind you just look from that angle he doesn't look offside and that's why it's so important to uh make sure they check it look how close it actually is Mo The Flash up of the uh V monitor it is very very close indeed yeah left foot of his but the angle of the Cross is brilliant he'll be a little bit disappointed with the sh the shot before cuz I think he kind of took it a bit early so the defender didn't get a block but it virtually right at the goalkeeper a lot of space to the goalkeeper right well he did miss a guilt Edge chance just one guilt Edge chance on Saturday the header from in front of the post went over the top of the crossbar now he's not only England's latest Centurion but he is the only fit out andout Striker that England have got available to them you we need to take their chances and ensure that Finland don't get more like they did through toofy kinan his debut in Greece coming off the bench in midweek and almost upset Lee Carley's debut in The Dugout at Wembley this is what caused Finland a problem in that match trying to play out from the back they've employed the new coach actually to help the manager transition into a more positive way of playing Mar Cana has got some help from extra pair of hands in Han honavar H is going for goal again oh what a chance not only with the shot but the little reverse pass to Pooky inside him just watch the run just there out oh he's got an open goal he takes one touch he scores Pooky and he's livid with his teammate big chance again England getting caught in Midfield rice I think he was well kesan his most famous e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e I am what hello you [Music] feel R do good night I will I'll be honest I'll be honest here the wonderful every [Music] day hey you I hear you with the curly Bush on your head [Music] baby you know you're looking good you know you're looking good you know you're looking good so sister sister sister sister Groceries effortlessly on Uber a 100th cap for Harry Kane in front of his family a special evening but no goal yet denied first by the goalkeeper and then denied by the assistant flagy thought his captain put his tip ahead but he was just offside and it is nil nil at halim and England have far from had it their own way all the time we'll look at the finished chances in a second when England have done good things Trent Alexandra just popping up in little in little spaces in little places has been really effective seen him playing that high you know getting the ball in that last third of finland's there it's um you know and making some passes and this is from a corner head why sort of left back position yeah he's find himself here but then once he gets into this space like Roy you were saying they've got to get tighter to him cuz that's what he's capable of doing and that again is a is a Defender with a last ditch with a last ditch challenge this pass I didn't even see it it's beautiful right brilliant pass you they've got to get to Trent if he's popping up in that position we see him do it all the time we saw him doing to do weekend we see him do it for Liverpool look at that what obviously great effort but credit to Finland they defended well but if you keep getting Trent that time and spacing the ball eventually be he's going get lucky we just got to keep keep doing what they're doing I know it might be bit frustrating to people maybe B could have gave him that a little bit earlier but I think it's a little bit frustrating to people because they haven't scored and they've had so much possession but I think just keep doing doing the same what about angel Gomez what have you made of his contribution he's been neat and tidy nice and sharp some of his decision making his position there's no surprises with that we obviously prais him before the game he's had this opportunity now and again the biggest plus I give he looks comfortable out there he doesn't look like he's new to the game again looks like he belongs that's a great sign again his body language his position his support player but also his defens work because we spoke about England obviously dominated position but he's got a few good tackles in and again ultimately be about his decision making nice little pass there there between the lines I suppose you what you would expect from most players because he's still new international football again lovely pass he's doing very well and giving Le cars the options which is what he wants well that's what he wants this is nice piit of play you know with people around him then flicks inside you know comfortable on the ball in control um yes I'd like to see us maybe passing a little bit quicker but I've liked what we've done in the last third we've just been a little bit unlucky with some of the last passes decision making particularly at this level is critical when you look at the Finish chances particularly kesin and he's is there two opportunities here the second one if you're finished you can't believe his decision making but even this even this one yeah you look at Pooky Pooky does well he slows it down here he goes he's just got to yeah just slip that in there you know he has a shot which is very he's not going to beat but this one is unforgivable py is fin record goal P again if you put that now honestly I can't understand that I I just think what he's done here he just wants to score at Wembley he wants to score atem does because he's G that to Pooky now you see Ezra that's pure greed isn't it pure if you got a teamate in a better position you got to try and find him it's just pure greed decision making if he shoots and hits in the top corner you forgive him but he's got to make that pass at this level and what we've seen as well even though we've had that control what we've seen if we've given away the ball certain areas you know we've got to be careful about leaving the back door open like we've done a couple of times are you surprised that Pooky seemed to be quite calm about that I can imagine a lot of Strikers would be raging he should be fuming he should be fuming because you're not going to get many opportunities he's in on goal and you'd expect him with his his record he would have scored your team in that if you got teamate in a better position you got to make the pass and it was an easy pass why you'd be fuming with him what do you think England needs to concentrate on in the second half I think just continue doing what you're doing like you seen Harry Kane he's being very close a couple of times and last itch um tackles from Defenders I think they just got to keep playing Maybe maybe a little bit quicker where you can I'd like to see Gordon maybe go down the left a little bit more the outside of him and get it across but other than that I think they just got to keep plugging away Finland are defending well they are defending well but when it's that tight and obviously they've got bodies back that's where you need your attacking players to go and win One V ones and go past somebody that's when opens a game up still a bit sidewards and backwards they don't look sharp they need a spark right your last chance to win four Hospitality tickets to see England Greece on the 10th of October tonight no goals at all in group B2 very even game in Dublin Greece are here at Wembley next month in group A3 not much between Hungary and Bosnia but in Amsterdam ryers gave the Dutch the lead under the former Brighton Striker equalized TR kimick in stoppage time it's given Germany 21 lead at the Johan C Arena Lee carsley we did this on Saturday 10 minutes in the uh changing room then he comes out I think he you know doesn't want to talk for the sake of talking he's back out sitting in a Dugout maybe he's letting Ashley Cole and the rest do it maybe maybe I ask V to talk for 10 minutes needed to go justl wasn't something it bothered about because you know what you've got to do and you know he feels like you know the guys can can get on with it and I don't think they got to do too much just got to be a little bit sharp yeah I think it'd be frustrated and we talk about the players the attacking players having a bit of Freedom I'd like to see maybe the white players G sacka maybe swap positions because when you're cutting in all the time on your your your stronger foot sometimes that easier to defend so maybe just maybe a tweak now England got plenty of wide players on the bench I mean Gibbs white came on at the weekend asra of course M would love to make his D so he's got a lot of opportunities and options in wide positions yeah but you probably give it another 10 15 minutes you know they would do obviously didn't score I'd like to say i' like speed it up a little bit but yeah that that should get him going as well knowing who's on the bench oh team puki has come off as we go back to the Edon and Sam atace for the second half two changes for the fits yeah that's uh Benjamin cman who's come on to play up front in good form actually with his polish Club at this moment in time to play instead instead of TMO puki and the other change is the introduction of ilari nisenan of exitus City the only player in the Finnish Squad who is based in England he replaces Yara yuran at the start of the second half England have won 17 of their last 24 in which they've gone in level at the break at Wembley and is it about being patient Lee Dixon no I think it's about just stopping the tempo I think they've had enough of the ball it's just as the boys said at half time just a little bit more quality of the final third but just a little bit quicker a little bit more [Music] incisive Finland have played the part though they've been quite hard to break through the last game between these two was the first competitive match under spor and Erikson Michael Owen and David Beckham scored the goals at anfield there have been 11 meetings in all England have only failed to win twice both draws here's greish went Alexander Arnold firing that ball through the 18 yd box I think that's a miss it from him he's so accurate with his Crossing he's just trying to put a load of pace on that and he's just come off the wrong part of his foot it's a big gap for him there don't see that too often Angel Gomez he head for con towards grish that Gomez forcefully trying to keep it alive seems to have marked into [Music] schul ouch certainly wasn't PA land man going past him there well England's second half performance did when they played Ireland in Dublin at the weekend unfor to do that again today has become a little bit of a habit the Euros they considered just minutes into the second half in the final with Spain certainly in the second half against the Dutch the pendulum swung and control slipped [Music] guishing it back off rice and trying to nudge it through to Kane England have got a big problem for edri kza who is away on our leftand side and they're trying to get him treatment Rico Lewis is going to kick the ball out well Dean rice eventually going to kick the ball out but he's been down for some while Jordan P was desperate to get him some treatment yeah it just look like he's sure little right over on his right ankle by the look of it so got his treatment to his left leg so well it did look like it was the right ankle that went over and Lee Cary just having a word with his coaching staff and just trying to work out what the best change would be if they have to replace him Harry McGuire is available played the game on Saturday in Dublin it's a trip to Southampton at the weekend as coner hopes to be part of the Aston Villa team that take on Everton this weekend am W not want to see an injury to him their Champions League campaign starts in the next week or so [Music] and he's back on his feet and they'll just assess him on this side of the pitch before deciding whether to bring him back on Finland have a throw deep in their own half England's next game is live on ITV 1 in October Thursday the 10th 7:00 start Greece are the visitors to Wembley itv1 and STV that will be with us and then we're off to Finland for the second game against Marco cana's side STS play it out the Gordon just filling in for conour at this moment here is greish chested down well by [Music] Saka SRA is going to come back up gone here is sacka Dean rice swirling one to the far post Away by stallo Lewis crowd howling for a shot scker be prized by Misan there's a bit of space over on that F side on the edge of the penalty area for Anthony Gordon England didn't work the ball out to him England's Midfield is really really deep right on the top of the their back for giving England in 10 no chance here coming England again Gordon seven players behind the ball greish Alexander Arnold they play the advantage here Dean rice then the referee has to decide whether he's going to bring that back for a free kick which I think he is yeah good referee in that he didn't blow the whistle but he stood on the spot and said if this doesn't materialize just watch him he just goes there puts his whistle to his lips watches that shot and then immediately blows I like that good he's in a great position again this crowd need a little bit of entertainment because we have had a squadron of paper planes fly down from the top tier you don't want to go back into that territory who gets to take the honors Gish was looking like it and AR Kan said get out the [Music] way what a collection that is it's going to be Harry Kane good save by retki he went right through the wall that is a good save he took that early as well I think he asked the referee it could take itki making a really good save was a firecracker from Harry Kane [Music] cona Saka Trent Alexander Arnold flicked Away by [Music] hosan more early pressure England who have pitched their tent very much on the edge of the finished penalty area once more good take by Trent Alexander Arnold Dean rice and it's caught under the feet of Hoskin but he did just enough to get it away Dean rice wins it back Alexander Arnold greish was lurking hosken and is's there [Music] again Gomez greish England testing this rigid finish defense JN Stones reacting well to the potential Counterattack but Harry Kane comes close again yeah he took it pretty quick sure of it s be flick stones on the way past was just got out of the way of it didn't see an awful lot of that the goalkeeper he used Jon Stones brilliantly didn't he keep's made a really good save he was excellent last year for V leverkus and kept 16 clean sheets they went on a 50 match unbeat run Hela immediately engaged by deam rice SK Kamar England have had 80% of The Possession 10 shots to finland's two they managed three on target had a disallowed goal I yet to see a shot on target from the fins they've had one or two dangerous moments but it has been all England just need that final breakthrough a space for Gordon out towards the left Gish has found him it's Anthony Gordon radeski is there again he will not wilt here's Harry Kane well the clearance was really poor it came straight to the England Captain whose eyes lit up enough to think twice he did two good saves from medeski this one beautifully put into the path of Gordon he gets a good Striker on it again spreads himself looks a bit like schmeichel and the clearance Kane again [Applause] finally England had the breakr against Finland and it's another golden moment for the M with the golden cap the golden boots and the minest [Music] touch England Centurion celebrates with his 67th International goal and England lead well they took a lot of stick in the summer his performance he dropped below what he's used to there's his family celebrating with him but there's one thing about Harry Kane if he gets a chance normally hits the target we saw in the first half he hit the target the keeper makes a safe as soon as he gets there the actual strike on it is perfect leans back a little bit puts his laces through it right above the goalkeeper really difficult keeper setting himself low ball goes High Harry Kane golden boots as you said golden c one [Music] n it just had to be him in the big moments on the big occasions he has often come up trumps for England again he is the one that has finally broken the Finish resolve that was just moments after retki had made a terrific save from an overhead kick from Harry Kane which was really opportunistic and came about from a finish mistake and actually the goal came because they turned over possession when finer were trying to play out yeah he made two good saves he made a good one from Gordon as well just before that so that's the place really good Strikers aimed for at times keeper sets himself to make a save gets low it's Rico Lewis now B by Gordon he was just a little bit Wayward with his finish Rico Lewis that's amazing how tired you get when you go one n down Lu shir's running back towards their own goal now instead of holding fast somebody's down in the middle the pitch there as he comes it previous knock well looks like ezri K has still got a problem Rico Lewis has just gone over to the touch line as well so might be that England start thinking about Replacements in just a second but it's going to be Finland who are going to make another change does look as if Robin L is about to uh come off the [Music] bench England warming up Le by cwell in fact getting Le by coell ready you can see him there off goes coner and on comes cwell that cell will get to play in the position he has occupied for Chelsea this season which is the left Center half position substi for replacing number 14 number 15 leevi played out of position really at left back although he has played there a lot in his young career Levi cwell in Dublin on the weekend fin still waiting to make their change Gomez winning it and Harry Kane's going for goal again Gordon schula back to rescue the Finish defense Gomez has proved to be a real asset when snapping it into the Press been good without the ball AR he good with the ball as well but little positions he takes up just gets himself close enough to the ball there's any sort of mistake or B passes in Alexander Arnold squeezing it forward for Saka just watch out gets it out of his feet soon as he gets half a yard that's why he scored so many goals it really isn't play look enough to play with some of the the greatest Strikers Premier League scene here right one of those tiar omry always hit the target even the keeper is in the middle of the goal just make sure you hit the tar you half chance the most creative player in the Finnish Squad Robin L of Minnesota United is on for Frederick gensen another substitution for the fins they third of the night again that's Finland creating their own problems giving the ball away inside their own half just as they did against Greece on Saturday after such a good defensive performance they then find themselves a goal down GCE all already one up in their game against Ireland Andis again on the score sheet for Greece England will have to score another goal in order to usurp him at the top of the table he might need to score two actually here is Gordon straight down the throat freski well a lot was made of Harry Kane's summer struggles but he has surrounded him with players that are fast and quick and sharp and that are willing to run Beyond him and he can always deliver a goal 67 now from 100 caps that's a hell of a record the England are going to build a future around him in the side like he wants them to because he says there's no excuse now not to play until your late 30s how do they do it what they got to make sure he's got in and around him well I mean he create his own goals get enough possession of the ball feeding him from wide areas and certainly as you said he's got Runners around him willing to go beyond when he does drop deep as we saw at the weekend he can catch up play as well he seems like he's got his appetite back he just looked tired he looked like he was really off color in the summer and he said yesterday he feels that his mental and physical peak which is good news for not only England but for Vincent company and Bayern Munich as well 31's not old you don't need to convince me of that e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e 14 Toby KES Toby kesan goes off the abedine man and on comes Oliver Antman the goahead Eagles is a good record for a Winger in terms of scoring goals six goals in 13 caps scored a penalty at hamon before the Euros last month became one of the most expensive signings in goahead Eagles history L spping to his task it's a mistake noler is given it to Rice greish he's got e to his left hand side it's ever E I think he was caught in two minds there and he saw hosin coming England have got it back again through Angel Gomez it's EA well we'll see from the replay whether he should have shot maybe there wasn't enough Pace on it from greish just to hit it first time thenly gets over quick to be fair [Music] good that's well like [Music] Finland we got 15 minutes to try and by the way Kane Harry Kane [Applause] [Music] again they just burst into life and he just burst the net he is an alltime great England doubled their advantage and on his big night it's another big moment well if You' got any doubt about Alexander Arnold at all defensively you might be able to make a case for it but with the ball his his vision of passing the way to pass sets all of this [Music] up ad there gets a bit of a but that pass there is just brilliant he's already had a look Harry Kane and the ball is coming to him he's had to look where the keeper is he knows exactly where the goal is he doesn't have to look it's a beautiful little pass to him and that's a finish of a striker who just loves to score goals [Music] well he is eyeing up Peter shilton's alltime record of 125 caps he thinks he should get there and if you crunch the numbers in a feeling particularly hopeful there is an equation that means he achieves it on World Cup final day 2026 it's a little bit premature to start talking about all that and there's no doubt that he came here tonight with a point approve on his 100 cap the night has belonged to him big that's a love ball it's being chased by ezza iov just saw it back so heresi come and clear came playing quarterback now MW still going Mada you'll get another chance here lifts it to Rico Lewis he hosan comes across and once again manages to Rattle it out the penalty area just wonder if they took just a extra couple of touches there England Hur Kane was on the edge of his own box and and then wandered into Midfield that's the beauty of this England team at the moment is to get players Beyond him Runners Beyond him feel a bit sorry for Hoskin and who's had a very good evening and he has worked his socks up keep has played well as well yeah really well Mar gay and Jared Bowen coming on for England for the final 11 minutes Subs forland the field number five Stones JN Stones going off to be replaced by Mark G and also leaving the field two goals on his 100th G for Captain number nine Harry G and a chance for to stand and applaud the perfect way to celebrate A Century of England caps two goals for Harry Kane tonight on the evening this crowd got to pay tribute to him and his service for his country yeah what a brilliant way to get 100 the Caps score two goals yes you can say it's against Finland but he's still got to be there he's had a good game miss a couple of opportunities but does what he does best and that's puts it in the net hits the target well on another day without V he would have had a hatri yeah he's a bit sick he's have to go off he looked remarkably calm he doesn't like leaving the field early he doesn't like not being involved he wants to play he never misses a camp he always represents the team most reliable goal scorer in England's history the most constant thorn in opponent's side big goals big moments England without an out and Out Center forward now Jared baren going through the middle 22 months ago everyone's righten him off that's football for you most people were right to expect a little bit more in the summer I think him himself has said that he wasn't at his complete best he still thinks that there is more fuel in the he's talking about Ronaldo and Tom Brady this week when he was discussing his 100th G he said he likes the idea of proving people wrong that AB Brit him off he said comes with a territory of being around for so long and raising expectations slightly different role but Tom Brady definitely did play into his 4S and I'm pretty much certain the Cristiano Ronaldo is going to do [Music] that sure it's very difficult game am football we didn't run about a lot did he tell you try and take those hits joking let's pad you up is it skipping past stall stalls had a really tough night he's had to try and quiet Gordon in the first half and in this second half he's had to deal with eich as it well I think any fullbacks playing against England in the future will know all about England's wide players they've got a lot of options they've got right footed left Wingers left footed right Wingers they can switch him around giving the fullbacks all sorts of problems and that stretches back force and isolates center backs also got the returning Bellingham to come back foden to come back not blessed just with wi players they've got number 10's in abundance Cole Palmer not in the squad this time because of fatigue how many can you fit in all at the same time though just 11 not number 10 oh I see but you mean plays in general it's not trying to get the right balance isn't it that's what he's been trying to do here over the last couple of games is why he's bought Angel Gomez into the team he believes that he is a player who can add that balance when you reflect on the 180 minutes of the Lee Carley rain it's still early we're in the embryonic stage but what do you give him what as a mark how what grade you giving him grade um well let's caveat by saying they playing against Republic of Ireland and Finland you'd expect him to win both of those games easily the first game was won easily won in the first half this game a little bit more difficult but they've ended up winning it reasonably easy easily C+ you can't really you know it's been good at times but I can't give him any more than that because the opposition hasn't been good enough to test us but these these good bits of I'm on you're pointing at me now you're going to well that was my point when I said to you earlier on so how do you then assess to someone who you've given six games to but yet the opposition Remains the Same because that's for the powers that be all he's got to do is win every game he plays in like every England manager you can't do that but you would expect him with the games he's got coming up to pretty much do that well there's been a lot of support from the the camp this week for the carsle C SE yeah I think that [Music] helps here is man [Music] again rice gay what I think is apparent and I mentioned this at the weekend he is going to be very different to G Southgate he's a different character a Garett Southgate he said yesterday my strength is talking about coaching so you're best asking me about football because that's where I can speak with some level of authority and validity don't ask me about the rest of the stuff I'm not going to be able to talk in that way I'll tell you what if he does get the job he's got one heck of a job to beat two finals here is madao chose the wrong pass because after a mishap there in the Finland defense probably should have been more ruthless that might be the thing they've got to improve on over the two games they haven't really yeah put their foot to the floor in that that sense St an flashn through the sixy box and Comm was just a little bit on his heels if you do want an example of Lee Carley's character so Keen is he to keep out on the grass and Coach players that every Wednesday and this will be true tomorrow the England manager puts on a session in centry at the stackin Academy for the 17 and 18yearold kids on the football program it's something that he is intent on doing even when doing this job that's quite obvious from listening to the players that have played in his teams how much of a coach he is and how much they enjoy his training and so he's got that going for him for sure it's not to say they didn't enjoy G South Gates 10 year of course he did and they were very nearly top of the tree Bowen skipping past the finished defense Lewis Alexander Arnold who's thrived again tonight e g up against stall into ezen flicking to Lewis little back heel didn't quite come off compact rash of blue shirts just keeping England at Bay just about e it trying something magical but again the ball just evading him at the final moment very narrow England at the moment trying to get a touch on the edge of the box shot away as LS a drift centrally and Mada strength is to come in on his left foot isn't it yeah they've got as I said they got options in wide areas they can switch it around as well i' like to see wi players go down the outside as well Lewis and again Kamar trying to escape and Alexander Arnold just scurrying back it's good work by Oliver Antman 2024's been pretty tough for Finland the draw with Scotland should really have ended in defeat and when you go back further the only teams that they've beaten in the last year at Kazakhstan San Marino Northern Ireland and Estonia you can understand why there's this sort of conflict going on behind the scenes where they want to try and change the way they play all the moms and dads have taken their kids home cuz it's quite empty wemble now is it school tomorrow there is school tomorrow and actually bearing in mind that summer holidays are finished and that there is a uh it's been a European championships to go to and lots of things things to play for at this moment in time the 70,000 strong crowd at Wembley is quite some number we go around Europe tonight I don't think there'll be many bigger attendances than that shows the support for the England team [Music] England's Nations League record has not been the best they have won just six of their previous 19 fixtures in this competition they didn't win any of their games in the last UEFA Nations League campaign last time around this is going to be two from two there will be a minute 5 minutes official 5 minutes of time that kill by EZ didn't quite come off again man off bringing it clear rice for a tackle it's quite happy to play the 90 minutes tonight Dean rice because he can't play in the north Lon Derby at the weekend no comment I was going to say you're not happy about that lost a couple now we Martin erard could end up being uh absent because he picked up an injury whilst playing for Norway last night grish he's got another 90 minutes under his Bel taking on stal beating stall and that away CES an inch away from making it great it's a great ball down the outside space is there for to drive one in and he does England players enjoying themselves out there tonight I think Trent Alexander Arnold is definitely one greish another think it helps that Lee car's instruction to them is go out and express yourself sometimes that might mean they make the wrong choices when they get to the edge of the penalty area sometimes you see a bit of magic [Music] [Music] rice we're into third of five minutes of added time Finland fans that are making the noise down below us [Music] now greish TRS off one challenge then prepares to take on another squeezes it through to ezer [Music] chance to break for colan is held out by Mark Gay that's a good pass out to Mada as well and he scampers forward just tried to flash one in the top Corner yeah you can see what he's trying to do just rush the last bit just check on that left foot and just bend it but standing foot slipped a bit maybe a little cross along the ground to B would have been the right option is throwing a foul have vter make substitute as the has brought him down [Music] pressure Talent has been exposed to the England Jersey TR Alexander Arnold is playing a kind of pass he got two and those who came came with a promise of entertaining football well certainly England dominated the tonight there's a long way to go in the Nations league and although getting carried away is a national pass time that we're all guilty of indulging in after two games the debate about whether Lee carsley can be a serious candidate to lead the England team seems already well finished it's finished at Wembley England 2 Finland nil so what people like to say it is it is until it isn't remember when you couldn't take a photo give your phone to someone else and add in yourself wow remember when all phones pretty much did the same stuff until they did it Google [Music] pixel9 both Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton scored on the occasion of their 100th cap Harry Kane's gone one better with a double against Finland this evening and a 2-n win goal 67 and 68 for the England captain in 100 caps and here he is now with Gabriel real clock Harry golden cap golden boots and two golden goals that look like they meant as much as any yeah for sure it was uh it was a big night for me and obviously really proud to to reach the 100 caps and there was obviously a lot of talk about it so you know what I'm like I want to I want to score goals I want to help the team so it's was great to be able to do that today where did you place tonight in your career that what 100th cap you've been under scrutiny has that scrutiny sharpened The Edge a bit I think so I think you know whenever you're you know doubted throughout your career it makes you more hungry and determined to to prove people wrong and and prove to yourself that you know you can still play at a high level and you know I always back myself to to score goals especially in a team like this creating the chances we do so uh yeah I'm excited for the future Trent played the pass he played the pass as well involved in the second goal is that as well as you've seen him play for England yeah great performance I mean he backed up another top performance that he played against Ireland as well so we know what Trent can do when he gets into those pockets and looks forward and has runners in behind and uh and you saw that today throughout the whole game even though it was nil nil for a while we were still threatening and we looked at the team who is going to break the deadlock is there a frustration there weren't more goals I think so I mean 2-n uh really good performance we're not going to complain but yeah we spoke about being ruthless I think in the first half we had opportunities to to go ahead but you know in these games you have to just keep knocking on the door keep doing what we're doing uh and you'll get your rewards and that's what happened tonight two games two wins for Lee carsley what has he shown you uh about his setup and his ability to do the job longer fulltime yeah well I mean look he's come with a a great energy uh he talks a lot about freedom and going out there and uh you know playing with uh your best attributes and going and attacking and and hurting the team and then without the ball just suffocating team so uh we've done that well in the two games of course room for improvement but I think it's been a great start for him and you know it's been great to work with him well done tonight thank you Jason here's how the table looks then uh latest score in Dublin Republic nil Greece two that's now a full-time score at the Aviva so Greece have won by two goals to nil so they lead from England on goal difference at the moment the first determining fact was head-to-head but they haven't met yet they will next month here alive on itv1 that should be some occasion in October England against Greece New Republic of Ireland manager with two defeats from two in his opening two matches there so much as we talk about Harry Kane the way he took his goals as as Gabriel said to the Captain there Trent Alexander Arnold as well played a huge role this evening how impressed were you with him easy night for him when you give top players time and space and the ball and obviously their decision making his pace of pass the type of pass he was making giving his teammates a lovely pace of the pass and this obviously Phil and retiring we could see that but this F not many players can play that nice and forward when he gets in this position and it's just the power in the shot that beats the goalkeeper again Finland the shap is all wrong really got too many players ahead of the ball lacking concentration but the pass from trend absolutely brilliant effective and this sc's couple of touches there but again I I've spoke to people who walk with harricane and they reckon people don't realize how hard he kicks the ball compared to even other professional players such the power on the shot and a great night for har again it's hard to tell from a television isn't it but I was really struck when we were on the pitch before the community Shield you Roy turn around me went they hit the ball so hard and I'm like you're the one who played Roy you know what I mean but even you were you I wouldn't be kicking it that hard no but even Harry Kan apparently is we're talking about most players but apparently Harry Kane even like his power is way ahead of like the average player and we don't realize again when you're watching the screen but it was just the power of that shot there that beat the goalkeeper absolutely and then the second goal again some good passing in there but TR Alexander Arnold just the weight of pass the appreciation of it yeah it was but like it's it's the movement from Harry Kane and people talking about him getting too deep and being too deep and not being involved where you need him where you this is where you do want him you see him on the back of the defender and he he'll end up on the front of him but it's just the way he does it and he knows exactly where the ball is and the goal is I should say and and you know he's going to store you can see how calm he is about is that all about the preparation as theall comes it is it is because like you say like we all say you know he's too he's coming too deep but as long as he can get himself in these kind of positions so as we can get the ball to him like that doesn't matter how deep he goes as long as he's got Runners you know as long as he's got Runners and we saw they going to do again I don't know why more players or more teams don't play the one two just give and go it just opens everything up and especially when you do a pace and the quality and you know Trent's going to give it back action he gives back the perfect pace and as soon as they're in on behind them they're in trouble probably actually a really good evening for Harry Kane in the sense there was a little bit of chatter after the summer and Gabriel when he speak to him beforehand was saying you know do you feel you still have something to prove I think you know in in the same way that F Le carsley it's been it's been a very satisfying couple of games I'm sure tonight for Kane in particular given it 100th cap as yeah because I think in in the Republic violent game and early on in in this game he missed a couple of chances that we're very surprised and you're thinking is he anxious cuz it's a very very big night for him a magnificent night for him and his family but then I think what he showed in the second half you know once he calm down and you know how how good he is the great Striker that he is it's amazing you talk about tactics and systems for having a top worldclass Striker goal scor and that's what he is listen he's up there with the top strikes in the world absolutely so a couple of two-nil wins then for Lee Carley to start his England managerial career and we hope to hear from him before we go off there but so far so good two wins out of two for England in the Nations league and they're back here on October the 10th against Greece and it looks like Matt from Wilshire should be here as well he's won our competition watch out for more chances to win in October right let's hear from Lee Cary then with Gabriel Clark Lee England managers for a long time have been grateful to Harry Kane's golden goals having seen him tonight wembly your first game witnessed it as a manager this week what do you makeing I thought he I thought he took his um his two goals really well I think sometimes you know it was a big occasion for him as well the 100 caps you know your kids kids been here and and um and the wife um you know an emotional bit I I would imagine so but no really happy for for Harry uh the Way's conducted himself this week and and I would imagine every time he's been with England you know fully deserves all the plance he's going to get he's just talked about responding to some scrutiny that's been on him not not for the first time do you see a player able to go lead England now not not just in the short term but the longer term to keep scoring to keep playing well I think um I think what I've noticed with him this week and it's only been know 8 Days um that he's very highly motivated to play for England um and to score goals and um you know that's that's to have a sense forward like that that scored as many as he has you know we um hope hopefully that continues managers in the past have looked to get the best Gareth tried to get the best out of Trent Alexander Arnold tonight what did we see what did you like because he was is that as effective as he's been in an England show well we played um Trent a little bit um in a different position tonight along with Rico who also was was excellent I think I think you you've seen from Trent um um an array of passing um the ability to control the game from a deeper area um and and get into forward eras as well so but that's not a surprise and I've seen Trent do that for Liverpool this season and and throughout his career two games two wins for you how do you feel about the role more comfortable having done it these last four or five days do you feel it's it's a role you want um definitely don't feel comfortable now it's um you know it's definitely I've definitely been out of my comfort zone this uh this um International window um it's it's been um it's been enjoyable but I've had to I've had to make sure that you know every single day um you know that I've you know producing really high standards as of the rest of the staff and everyone seems to have responded to and um like I said we try to do a good a job as we can we've we've we've been um we've been we've been fortunate to get two good results um and he about building on that now that's very honest of him isn't it nothing wrong with out of your comfort zone from time to time in yeah he's very honest he's very honest that's that's what you like to see he's not trying to be somebody is not so good on him I I I it's good to hear him because obviously he's had two games and game been relatively easy but like what I like what he said there is that he's he's not he's not in his comfort zone but he's not biging it up like yes this and this is the job of my life and we know that's obviously what he'll probably want but he's taking it game by game and this is why I said at the start they should make sure that they chaperon in properly so as he could on with it but he looked more comfortable toight than he did weekend used to AB but also when you're the the manager of England it's not just about the 90 minutes you know it's every as as he found out at the weekend there's everything that goes along with it as well and you're scrutinized for every decision you make so that all goes along with it who else would you like to pick out from the first couple of games Angel Gomez um I think obviously Jack um and Trent has been spoken about what they've done I thought Jack done well in the first game adding goals to it Trent we know what he's capable of doing and we saw him do it again today but I thought what um seeing Angel Gomez in that Midfield constantly on the Move whether he is whether he high up middle or at the back for us in the six he was doing Progressive things you know he's touching the ball you know everything what he's he's doing was was very Progressive you said before the game right he's busy you know hit the nail on the head and I'm not sure did he make a mistake tonight in the game I'm not sure he made a mistake so option isn't it yeah wanted the ball all the time constantly available in any area what wanted the ball I mean you think about who's not here obviously foden Bellingham Palmer you think about what Angel Gomez has done obviously kobby man just come on the scene Gibbs White's got his first cap madek has got his first cap there's a as there should be really there's a proper depth isn't there yeah of course great options and obviously that where the challenges will come for Lee over the next few games when these players come into the squad uh the tactics assist him who's going to play that'll probably be a a bit of a headache for him but high class problems what about Rico Lewis as well excellent again took it all in his stride and just got that's the sign of a good player very efficient and again I've said when I've seen him for City he certainly doesn't weaken that team and will be the same for England I mean watching Trent Alexander Arnold's passing is is a is a pleasure you just said it off air I mean it's against with respect Finland a Spain or Portugal or Germany or France that's where the challenge will be won't you to see whether defensively those questions can be answered yeah but yeah that's where the challenge because obviously the players are a lot better but what you want to do with Trent is put him in a position where he can do it against those those players and that is by making sure you've got the players around him that will make the movements for him to find them with the passes cuz he can do that yeah the toughest game in this group is the one coming up obviously Greece looking at the results from the first few games GRE will be the biggest challenges to him absolutely listen they may not play somebody of that level until the World Cup assuming they qualify for the World Cup just because the way it goes so from Le car's point of view you just think well if I trust him and I can see what the quality of his passing is again the competition for play say kyl Walker's not Reese James but maybe just give him a run in the yeah when he does play players in this position or he's giving young players a chance a lot of what we leave before so there's obviously an element of trust there and that's huge at this level I was asking about Jack greish before the game because of the players who were missing tonight and the players he's up against when it goes when he goes back to Manchester City what about his contribution over the last again today you know he's trying to be Progressive he's taking people on he's creating things you know exactly what you want to see him doing getting past people what we know he's he's great at doing we haven't seen so much of it um at city but we've seen it in the last couple of games for England and again this comes down to the opposition but it's great to see him playing and playing in that style and hopefully it can be enough to force him into his team biggest thing for Jack is I definitely think he needs to play regularly at Man City and that's obviously difficult and the challeng is there I think he needs to be sharp when he's not playing regularly he does lose that sharpness very quickly so it's key he gets games of City it was interesting to see his reaction at the weekend when he admitted it have been just an appalling summer missing out and of course he said you can't avoid it you know we were on the television it was all there in front of him made him realize just how much he missed it and how this is for all that it's great at Club level this is in many ways the Pinnacle yeah of course for lots of players but I think usually when you when you're when you're doing well at Club level you're selected for your international team so I go back to it your your bread and butter is what you do week in week out uh at Club level and particularly for players like Jack the disappointment Su has reacted well scored the weekend don't well tonight but looking forward he has to play I think a lot more regularly for City I I totally agree I'd like to see him playing like he used to play again cuz if he can get that to that Villa that Villa Jack then there's no way anyone could keep him out of that team should be a really good atmosphere of Greece here shouldn't it given you know plenty of Greece live in London I think that will be a good evening conference comeing here so yeah that's the biggest threat to England absolutely thank you very much indeed jet we're off and running then with our International season and there's four days of top quality racing on the way From Doncaster starts on Thursday on ITB 4 and it all builds up to the S lger on Saturday when the coverage switches to itv1 and we'll be live in Amsterdam as well this weekend for the slightly later than build it's the ITV News at 10: get out of jail hundreds of prisoners let out early in a bid to deal with [Music] overcrowding there were uncomfortable scenes of Celebration up and down the country with questions about how soon some could be back behind bars only recently people have been released and within a week they're back in prison so that's my worry for him um he only said to me on the phone yesterday that he'll have to start uh uh stealing again if his benefits can't be uh sorted out thousands more will be released in the next few months with growing concerns that not all victims have been warned also on News at 10 tonight cold reality millions of pensioners lose winter fuel allowance after the government wins its vote but 52 labor MPS abstain could the US be about to Greenlight Ukraine's use of Britain Storm Shadow missiles inside Russia the stakes couldn't be hire Trump and Harris head-to-head in 4 hours time Dan is at the debate in Philadelphia [Music] and after the Oasis reunion what's the story as legendary Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmore goes on the road what' you say to this Perpetual yearning for Pink Floyd to get back together [Music] this is ITV News at 10 with Julie etchingham good evening twice over today the government was confronted by the consequences of making tough choices regarding things it feel it has to but doesn't want to do in a moment the back bench backbiting over restricting winter fuel payments for pensioners but first tonight the sight of champagne corks popping at the gates of Prisons as inmates in England and Wales were released to relieve overcrowding they are the first 1,700 out of 5,000 men and women to be let out early in a phased process the Justice secretary told MPS those without somewhere to stay may be put up in hotels meanwhile probation officers are bracing for the extra workload for what is already an overstretched service out they came in leads Welling BR leerer and at wesworth where they cracked open the champagne celebrating as 1,700 prisoners were let out of jail early walking free 40% of the way through their sentences instead of 50 to ease chronic overcrowding but is there enough support to prevent reoffending one father wasn't convinced he only said to me on the phone yesterday that he'll have to start uh uh stealing again if his benefits can't be sorted out as soon as he gets out of prison after picking up his son Andrew Lindley told us he felt the process was a shambles without accommodation organized or a meeting with the benefits adviser in Parliament Labour's Justice secretary blamed the opposition if we had not done this we faced courts unable to hold trials police unable to make arrests and a total breakdown of Law and Order Shabana mmud said the government had excluded sexual offenses serious violence and Terror the government had also promised to exclude domestic abuse connected crimes but at rexim one man admitted he pleaded guilty to a domestic charge he described the conditions inside I reckon it's going to go into a riot scene because it's that that bad in there on Friday there were a record 88521 people in prison in England and Wales that followed the number of spaces in men's prisons fall to just 100 after the August bank holiday weekend which explains this policy but it is deeply painful for some victims just like another kick in the teeth from A system that hasn't done enough to protect me all along this letter informed Elizabeth Hudson that her ex-husband who was jail for 6 years after assaulting and threatening to kill her could now be out in less than two I was angry um sobbed um all the old feelings are back the government said every released prisoner would be under license meeting a probation officer with accommodation offered if needed including the possible use of budget hotels one probation officer speaking anonymously because he feared for his job said that was inappropriate hotels shouldn't be used in that way they could be in there with children they could be in there with potential victims they could be having access to anybody coming in and out a Source insisted hotels would only be used as a last resort an gistana News at 10 well plans for the early prison release had already been drawn up for the last conservative government so the new one arguably had some cover for what's happened today but Labour's decision to end winter fuel payments for 9 million pens pensioners was not even in its own Manifesto no wonder then that some backbenches feel deeply uncomfortable about it but in the end only one risked the Party leadership's wroth by voting against it in the Commons another 52 avoided supporting it by having other places to be this was a chance for MPS to finally debate Labor's plans to scrap winter fuel payments for most pensionistas one by one MPS lined up to take aim at the government millions of pensioners many of whom are struggling to make ends meet are being sacrificed in this political strategic game it is wrong to force vulnerable Elder people to make that choice between Heating and eating what are they supposed to do but ministers remained adamant that this is the right strategy we must fix the foundations of our economy as the first step to rebuilding Britain and making the changes our country desperately needs and because when money is tight our priority must be to Target resources on those who need it most today a Tori motion to Halt the government's plan was voted down by 120 the nurs have it the nurs have it but 52 MPS did not participate although it's unclear how many did that on purpose one labor MP rebelled or those who had previously lost the labor whip were more comfortable voting against I've been inundated with uh pleas from my constituents pensioners already in poverty asking me to oppose this policy I'm scared that pensions will die as results of this policy but some labor MPS have privately and publicly expressed concern and this is why some say they abstained you were quite critical previously of the idea why did you not vote against it if you felt so strong because I'd be voting for The conservatives and also that would be the end of my um role in the labor party they would have removed the wit from me which would mean that I have to sit as an independent the payments of either 200 or300 are normally made in the winter and will still be paid to those on pension credit but for now the focus will turn to October when the chancellor outlines her budget which she has warned could be painful chabar News at 10 Westminster and Robert uh is here to talk through all of this so the Optics on both of these stories uh pretty trixy very uncomfortable for a considerable number of Labor MPS but all eyes now inevitably will turn to that date in October for the budget yeah totally right I mean obviously it looks absolutely terrible to release prisoners early and right-wing press Tory MPS attacking the government for doing so but the prisons are full and it's laughable that that's Labor's fault they haven't been in office for the previous 14 years so the question for Labor's critics is what on Earth would they do uh you know would they just simply stop Prosecuting people if they're not going to release people early convicted prisoners early I mean look if any of these released prisoners now commit horrendous crimes you know in the coming weeks that is a problem for SK Arma because people will say he released the wrong prisoners I think however he is in more of a hole over taking you know up to £300 away from millions of pensioners and the reasons I say that is not because again he didn't inherit a very difficult financial situation from the Tores the public finances are stretched the amount of money that needs to go to public services is enormous Rachel re has come up with this so-called black hole of 22 billion actually I think the amount they're going to have to find in the coming months at that budget the end of October youve just talked to is much much bigger than that but what they are saving from depriving these pensioners of the 300 up to £300 is 1.4 billion it's tiny in the context of the amount of money that they need find I am constantly still being told by labor officials and ministers that they were told by the treasury and inde by the bank of England that if they didn't do this the city would react really badly I honestly think that's palpable nonsense it's absurd that the city would have reacted uh in that kind of way so this is definitely Kia starmer's decision and pretty much all his MPS tell me even though they voted with him today it was a bad decision okay Robert thank you very much indeed for that and uh one final word on Westminster politics for tonight the former immigration Minister Robert jenrich has kept his place the top of the pole of Tor MPS for the next conservative party leader Mel stride the former work and pensions secretary is the one to leave the contest this week Mr jri got 33 votes Camy Bok closed the Gap slightly with 28 James cleverly and Tom tugan hat both got 21 Mr stride losing score was 16 the top four now make their pitch to the Party Conference in Birmingham at the end of the month now there is what the United States has called a dramatic escalation in the war in Ukraine with Iran starting to supply ballistic missiles to Russia standing together Britain and America have hit Iran with sanctions as a result the US Secretary of State Anthony blinkin discussed Ukraine with Sak stama this evening Mr blinkin and the foreign secretary David Lamy will
