PERSPECTIVE FROM FROM THE ROAD THERE LEADING INTO THE SCHOOL, AS YOU MENTIONED, CHRISTINE, THERE WILL BE KIND OF STAGES OF GRIEF, I THINK, IN THE IMMEDIATE AFTERMATH OF THIS, STUDENTS ARE JUST SHOCKED >>>>: BY WHAT HAPPENED. >>>>: ABSOLUTELY. AND HAVING TO RECOUNT THAT AND RELIVE THAT AGAIN, NOT ONLY FOR INVESTIGATORS BUT FOR THE PUBLIC, CERTAINLY SOMETHING THAT THIS IS A DAY THAT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT FOR THEM IN THE DAYS AND WEEKS TO COME. LET'S GO TO OUR ERIC PERRY, WHO IS ALSO ON THE GROUND FOR US NEAR THE SCHOOL WITH MORE INFORMATION. CURIOUS, I'LL ASK YOU THE SAME QUESTION I ASKED KEVIN. ERIC AS FAR AS THE POLICE PRESENCE THERE, IT APPEARS THEY ARE STILL GOING TO REMAIN ON THAT CAMPUS, EVEN THOUGH THEY DO HAVE THE ONE SUSPECT IN CUSTODY. YEAH, >>>>: CHRISTINE. IN FACT, I'VE ACTUALLY SEEN EVEN MORE POLICE COMING IN. ACTUALLY, I'M LOOKING AT MORE OFFICERS COMING IN OFF TO MY DISTANCE. HE'LL COME BY BY THE TIME IN JUST A COUPLE OF SECONDS HERE. WE'VE ALSO SEEN A COMMUNITY ASPECT COMING TOGETHER AS WELL, JUST REALLY IN TIMES OF SITUATIONS LIKE THIS, I'VE SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE ON THE BACK OF THEIR TRUCKS, THEY HAVE WATER THAT THEY ARE HANGING OUT. I WANT TO GIVE YOU WHAT THESE PARENTS ARE ALSO GOING THROUGH, AS WELL AS SOME OF THE STUDENTS HERE. THEY HAVE SET OUT ON THAT FOOTBALL FIELD SINCE ABOUT 11:00 THIS MORNING, AND HERE COMES ANOTHER POLICE OFFICER JUST KIND OF SHOWING THAT POINT THAT EVEN MORE PEOPLE ARE COMING IN AS WELL. BUT THEY HAVE SET OUT THERE ON THAT FOOTBALL FIELD SINCE ABOUT 11:00, RIGHT AFTER THAT INCIDENT HAPPENED. MANY OF THEM THAT YOU'RE SEEING LEAVING ARE JUST NOW LEAVING. SO THEY'VE BEEN OUT THERE FOR THREE, FOUR, SOMETIMES FIVE HOURS. FOUR HOURS ISH, SITTING OUT THERE IN THE SUN AS WELL. WE'VE ALSO SEEN SOME PARENTS WHO APPEARED JUST NOW GETTING HERE RUNNING TO THE FOOTBALL FIELD. WE SEE PARENTS RUNNING TO THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL. I KNOW YOU WERE TALKING WITH KEVIN STEWART ABOUT THAT AND TO THAT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AS WELL. WE'VE SEEN SOME BUSSES THAT ARE LEAVING FROM THAT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RIGHT NOW, BUT WE'VE ALSO SEEN PEOPLE WALKING HAND IN HAND WITH THEIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS AS WELL THERE. BUT WE'VE ALSO JUST SEEN A COMMUNITY COMING TOGETHER HERE AS WELL. MICHAEL MOORE, CAN YOU SHOW THIS GUY THERE? I KNOW YOU HAVE WATER IN YOUR HAND, BUT ARE YOU JUST HANDING OUT WATER TO PEOPLE? YEAH, I LIVE REALLY CLOSE BY AND I WASN'T CALLED INTO WORK. I WORK AT NORTHSIDE GWINNNETT SO I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING TO BE ABLE TO HELP IN ANY WAY. MEANS. AND I'VE SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE COMING THROUGH. IS THAT JUST KIND OF A TESTAMENT OF THIS COMMUNITY AND NEIGHBORHOOD? YEAH. I MEAN, WE'RE IN GEORGIA, YOU KNOW, YOU WANT TO HELP OUT. YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING. YOU KNOW, THIS IS THIS IS BIG. THIS IS SERIOUS, AND HOPEFULLY BE ABLE TO DO THE GOD'S WORK. BUT YEAH. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I KNOW YOU HAVE TWO CASES OF WATER. THANK YOU SO MUCH. BUT JUST THAT'S JUST A TESTAMENT. WE'VE BEEN SEEING THAT ALL THROUGHOUT PEOPLE RIDING BY ON THEIR TRUCKS WITH WATER, HANDING OUT WATER FOR FIRST RESPONDERS TO US JOURNALISTS HERE ON THE SCENE, TO THE PARENTS, BECAUSE MANY OF THEM ARE WALKING UP TO TWO MILES. SOMEONE TOLD ME THEY'RE PARKING THEIR CARS AND RUNNING OVER HERE AS WELL. SO MANY OF THESE PEOPLE WE'VE TALKED TO, THESE FAMILIES ALL IMPACTED BY THIS, AND THEY ARE EMOTIONALLY EXHAUSTED FROM ALL OF THIS, FROM GETTING THE NEWS TO EXPERIENCING THIS. I'VE BEEN TALKING WITH DIFFERENT STUDENTS AS JUST THEY'VE COME BY. ONE GIRL TOLD ME THAT THEY ACTUALLY HAD TO RU. SO YES, THEY DO PRACTICE SITUATIONS LIKE THIS, BUT SHE SAID THAT THE POLICE TOLD THEM WHEN THEY GOT TO THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL RUN WITH YOUR HANDS UP TO THAT FOOTBALL FIELD, WHICH WAS THE SAFE AREA. SO THEY RAN FROM THAT LOCATION OF THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL, SHE SAID TO THE FOOTBALL FIELD WITH THE POLICE, WITH THEIR HANDS RAISED AS WELL. WE TALKED TO OTHER PEOPLE EARLIER, CAMILLE, PROBABLY ABOUT AN HOUR AGO, THE GUNMAN, SHE SAYS, CAME TO HER, WAS ONE OF HER CLASSMATES. SHE SAID THEY KNOCKED ON THE DOOR. THERE. YOU SEE, GWINNETT COUNTY POLICE COMING IN HERE AS WELL. WE HEAR A CAR SIRENS OFF IN THE DISTRICT, GEORGIA STATE PATROL HERE. BUT SHE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THAT GUNMAN COMING KNOCKING ON THEIR DOOR, THEM HIDING INSIDE. ANOTHER PERSON SAID THEY HID INSIDE OF A BATHROOM. THEY HID INSIDE OF A CLOSET FOR ABOUT 15 20 MINUTES
