Rockies All Access| Get to Know Jake Cave

[Music] I'm Rocky's outfielder Jake cave and this is Rocky's all [Music] access I'm from Hampton Virginia over there near like Virginia Beach area if you ever heard of that but my dad was a D3 coach at The Apprentice School which is a uh it's a school that's associated with the uh Newport New Shipyard which is a huge area where I'm from but he was a he was a coach there for like 40 some years so I was always around the game I was always out there you know bad boying um you know colle these are college guys and I was out there you know playing catch with them doing that kind of thing and I fell in love with the game and and I think I always did you know my dad never had to force me to be out there or do anything I just loved it um I was always that way you know from the area too big athletic area a lot of lot of basketball football where I'm from so I had a bunch of buddies I played basketball and football growing up you know I had a bunch of buddies do the same thing everything was always Sports um you know when it got to that time to start playing travel ball and stuff like that it was always travel ball you know so you know baseball is basically what I've been doing only for about you know my whole life obviously you know mixing some other sports when I was growing up here and there but baseball is what I always wanted to do ever since I was a little kid I always told people I wanted to be a major league baseball player from the area I'm at there's over there in that Virginia Beach area there's the Michael kaders the the Upton Brothers the um Mark Reynolds who I think spent some time out here in Colorado it's it's pretty cool because it is you know their sneaky sneaky pocket of of really good Big League names from over and that area and then over where I'm from in Hampton which is right across the water there's a lot of basketball and football names you know Allen Iverson is from Hampton Virginia Mike Vick Tyrod Taylor there's a it's crazy you know a big big list of guys and um Michael kaday actually got to spend some time with him CU I was with the twins and you know Kad spends a lot of time out there pretty sure Kad played for the Rockies too he won a batting title here so yeah but he um awesome like one of the one of the best guys I've ever been around you know cool to have a little rapport with him since you know being from the same area and that kind of thing David is from over there across the water too it's it's cool you know and I've seen these guys you know from here and there just through the game and you know you see some of these guys out of parks and you you know you drop a a Virginia on them a 757 you know or something like that and uh just to kind of let them know where you're from and so it's cool
