Vladimir Bure, Father of Pavel and Valeri, Dead At 73

you know I know about this guy long before he sons pavell and Valerie had great NHL careers because I watched him in highlights of the Olympics but especially in uh 1972 where he struck three big medals at the Olympics probably one of the better Russian uh swimmers of his era but uh again Vladimir buy a very interesting career and a very interesting uh pth to becoming a Stanley Cup winner we'll get that in a second now Vladimir buy born Vladimir valich Buy on 4th of December 1950 in noil Russian sfsr USSR was a Russian and Soviet freestyle swimmer and a fitness coach for the Devils of the NHL buy was the father of retired NHL players Pavel and Valerie now B bur competed for the Soviet Union at a 6872 and 76 Olympics and won four medals one individual 100 meter and Tre relas additionally pury was a two-time European Champion as well as a seven time Soviet Champion he also won two silver medals at the 73 and 75 worlds now he was swimming coach at the Armed Forces Society from 1979 to 1985 after that he served as vice president of xport Club from 85 to 991 where he manag eight different sports now he eventually married a taana bu and he had two sons born in Moscow Pavo on March 31st 71 and Valerie born on 13 June 74 of course Valerie's married to Candace Cameron played with the Montreal KS as well but pville again a tremendous score now 91 Vladimir and his sons pavl and Valerie moved to North America he settled initially in La where Vladimir continued to train a coach both Valerie and Pavo and hogi and physical conditioning on until Pavo embarked on an career with the Canucks however both sons became estrange from their father along with his second wife Julia and her half Caesar kataa by 1998 NE brother has explained a reason for the split now Vladimir Jordan pavell spending Four Seasons from 94 to 98 as a fitness consultant with the kcks in the summer of 99 he joined the Devils as a fitness consultant he won a Stanley Cup twice in with New Jersey in 200 old tree his name ironic was engraved on a Stanley Cup in 2003 where pavl and never was oned he died of complications on third of September 2004 at the age of 73 now uh 511 168 a very powerful swimmer mostly freestyle he initially uh swam with locomotive Moscow and then Armed Forces Moscow he was uh in 100 meters personal best 5133 1975 and a 200 15615 and 72 and the 4 400 40603 and 73 it was a good 1500 meter swimmer 17 25.6 and 68 so he was an elite swimmer up until the age of 26 which is kind of old at the time now representing the Soviet Union he won bronze in the Mexico City 4 4x200 male freestyle in Munich he won sever a silver in the 4 by 100 meter freestyle really also won bronze in 100 meter freestyle and and bronze and a 4x200 freestyle now at the World Championships he won silver and Belgrade 73 and a 4x100 and 75 in Cali a silver and 100 meter freestock now the UN European championships over seven years he his career almost lasted in the late 1970s at Barcelona 1970 he won Gold in a 4X 100 and silver in a 4x200 in Vienna in um 74 he won silver and 100 freestyle silver in the 4x1 100 and bronze in the 4 by100 in 77 in jonco ping silver and 100 meter freestyle and uh bronze and 100 meter freestyle relay now in summer us univers he had 73 in Moscow he won Gold and 100 meter freestyle he won bronze and turn so internationally again uh uh 15 big medals on International level now uh of course cat cury is a is a noted again uh T tennis player now CA bur just to give you a little bit of information uh she had a okay career as a a tennis player but uh uh it's kind of weird how it goes a ladies and gentlemen in sports uh the uh uh the women's tennis again uh uh she played NCAA and had a not too bad uh record in relation to uh uh to the sport but again the half sister of the uh The Bu Brothers now uh Vladimir had a personal website uh unfortunately it's a it's a dead link but when you could go on you would see aspects of his career but I think uh what people should really recognize I don't think was ever a dirty athlete to be established in that for about eight years in the freestyle you need uh you know aerobic he was a very a very handsome F handsome swimmer as well and of course Valerie and uh and pavl are tremendously in shape I think they got the best of their father so the idea about sport ladies and gentlemen um I don't know why the falling out occurred and it's none of my business but it's ironic because pavl and very Valerie had her own career after the falling out but New Jersey kept him on so I don't think it was favoritism towards the buy Brothers the fact he was that good and uh he was a special trainer in relation to aerobic uh uh you know stretching and stuff like that I've seen uh certain documentaries that talked about him uh you know but the Russian swimmers and to cach like that for a number of years ironically ladies and gentlemen uh Russia was kind of falling behind on Swimming by behind the East Germans and the Canadians and the Americans so uh Russia was doing mostly a big track and field but Russia Russia's never been a a superior country in regards of swimming you would think but again Vladimir was a was one of the key ones at the time so what I want you to do ladies and gentlemen if you've never heard of Vladimir bu before just check a little bit about his uh his uh his background his connection uh with the the Russian program it's quite interesting but you know uh Sports is a is a funny thing um my dad always said you look the way that the buy Brothers skate are never tired and I think they got that L father so that's the story of the great Russian Olympian Vladimir bur to father pille and Valerie if you like what you're doing here we Sports podcast by the way before I leave Johnny godo was literally Johnny hockey all the people in his States Columbus and Calgary that follow his career and celebrity his career it's a big loss so at least Cole Coffield will bring some of the good memories and maybe one day when Cole wins the cup the first thing is say this is for Johnny no pun intended Johnny good one of the best players not to win the Stanley Cup of the modern era and like I said if it inspires Cole Coffield and the other players to seek that Excellence you know that's that's more to better I know it's a little bit off topic but you know Valerie with the
