CEL Week 10 vs UL Monroe [CPU

welcome to Huntington West Virginia and Jon C Edwards Stadium home to the Thundering Herd of Marshall and one of the toughest places to play in all of college football today a showdown of a couple of foes from the Sun Belt as we'll see the UL Monroe warhawks taking on a team who is rested and ready coming off of by the Marshall Thundering Herd for EA Sports college football I Reese Davis David po and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it going Marshall will kick off to get the festivity started and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line so U Monro offense will start this game off and here comes this quart back this entire offense is built around him he is the engine of the entire team I mean he's the leader he's the alpha everybody looks towards him he's been doing it all year long everybody believes in this young man big opportunity big stage here's his off with a fresh set of downs looking for a man it's Moody and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls [Applause] incomplete after the incompletion it's second and 10 from their own 25 he's looking to throw unloads to the wide out fires and picked off bringing it back touchdown Marshall a great return for the touchdown any return for a touchdown is a great one to a defense and he's got the extra point and it's 7even nothing to start this one they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time well the good news is they threw a touchdown pass last time it was just to the wrong team Jesse well that's an unfortunate part of the game for quarterbacks but guess what they do happen so you've got to be able to turn the page here and Le this offense well I think you know this defense is going to be aggressive they're going to jump routes they're going to play aggressive you got to take advantage of that maybe use that this time to your advantage on second down just keeps firing Zing complete to the right and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few the quick passing game does several things one he doesn't let the pass rush get you those great defensive linemen the ball's coming out so fast they can't get there and then what else he gets me ahead of the sticks I don't have to worry about getting long yardage in predictable situations grab behind the line it's Bailey and they gave him no chance to get loose and they force a fourth down the warhawks will line up to punt it away the punter going to get his first work of the [Applause] afternoon and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next drive so the Marshall Thundering Herd has the ball for the first time and their offense will go to work as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this the quarterback just lost track of the play clock didn't get the snap off quickly enough first down here for the [Applause] offense they'll go to the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one most offensive schemes are predicated on first down productivity that will not go down as a productive first down Play No it will not reys give this defensive line credit cuz they were able to get ation right off the snap and force a negative play that's caught it's Boston and they'll spot it at the 45 that's good enough for a first down they built this offense around finding mismatches and just get the ball to the back and let him do his thing yeah it didn't have to be long down the field like it threw it right near the line of scrimmage but you know I got a guy when he gets in space he can make big plays happen nice decision by the QB quick pass on on the jet motion hit the afterburners kid and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end this defense really needs to be careful and they have to play with great eye discipline understanding where the football is at all times moving forward they have got to know if this guy has the ball cuz he is dangerous in space Marshall back at it with another first and 10 to the ground with the back there to stop him after a pick up of three it's down to the 15 I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches beating the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced after the three yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven he'll try to pop the draw and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening well as soon as the running back got the ball there was just absolutely nowhere for him to go it just seemed like the dline built a wall up front yeah and a great job you're thinking pass right away cuz the draw is supposed to look like a pass first rushing up field but then seeing it reacting to it and making sure they let that ball go nowhere Nowhere to Run nowhere to hide got him in the back field quick quarterback checking the play on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it reels it in in the end zone Dodge down Thundering [Applause] Herd and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 so that scoring took only six plays and they top it off with a 14 yd pass for the [Applause] touchdown and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the Touchback urel Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work to say this has been a slow start as a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all C is right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up and it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion this quarterback is going to have to be precise with his timing and his accuracy he's already thrown a pick that one got squatted away guys we're only in the first quarter these windows are tiny to throw into dropping back it's booty finds his big tight end a huge play and they get it all the way to the 45 yd line well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting [Applause] they'll run it out of the shot gun nice run there on first down you know this is a running back that gets better as the game goes on so they're going to want to make sure they keep feeding him the football let him get lathered up solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six from the gun running back gets to give a run up the middle is stuck for No Gain that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense the marker is at the 35 and they need to get it there to convert third down from the gun wants to pass trying to get to him just too much of a rush and down goes the quarterback just behind the Midfield stri at the 49 and the warhawks will punt this one away this will be the second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away and nobody able to feel that punt as it rolls out of bounds the Marshall offense makes its way back onto the field man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David yeah and you know you hear all these stupid commentators like me and Jesse talking about cre balance you know run and pass no when you throw that good spin the ball around so the defense has to find a way to affect the quarterback on this drive because last drive he had way too much time to throw the offense will have to use its first time out of the half L gets set first down looking to move it through the air makes the catch it's Robinson still running at the 40 and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made and as a defense how scary is it having to defend this guy he's one of the fastest players in America and you saw it on that last play it's not necessarily throwing him the ball over your head they just get it to him quickly the hard part now is running in tackling that guy not easy to do comes out throwing on first down fires to the wide out can't make the connection in the defense putting on the heat and forcing the incompletion offense gets set for second down now the quarterback changing the original play call off the play [Applause] fake he fires a bullet to the right and it's incomplete going for the massive explosive play instead they're looking at a third down he had him open there and I know this quarterback expects to make that throw it's a tough throw cuz again you got a couple steps on a guy that's not wide open when these DBS are so fast but that is a throw that you do expect a guy like that that caliber going for the big play and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge game if he could have held on Marshall will be forced to punt not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass and I think too David it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and going not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 hand off from the shotgun not much there they'll give him one to the 14 oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack on third down he drops to throw snagged in the middle it's Bailey now they've got a little room to work with they're out to the 28 with a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of [Applause] downs guys it is Marshall carrying the lead into the quarter break they wanted to strike first and strike hard and they've been able to do that here in the first quarter as we take a look at the stats back at it to open the quarter with this first down play looking downfield it's MO finds his big tight end a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do little bit more to go after that last completion they'll try to pick it up on second Down Smith takes the hand off keeps the legs moving gets it out to the 40 yd line give him five on that one you wonder now on offense have they found something in the Run game finally it's been tough for them to get the Run game going but they picked up a nice gain on that last one let's see if they go back to it movement here from the tight end they're going to ride this running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the linebacker showing you read and react he knew exactly where that running play was going and he beat the football to the line of SC to force the TF Out lost one on that last one it's second and 11 from the gun give on the inside when running backs Square their shoulders up that's when they have the most power you see them Square his shoulders up break tackles be strong continue to plow his way forward just making it really easy on everybody in this offense about breaking tackles on Third and trying to have a big completion here he throws back back across his body and it's picked off going the other way and he's got room and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision making Marshall takes over the ball the Thundering Herd offense coming out they've jumped on them executing at a high level and up 14 nothing David this is the exact start you want I mean offense is playing great defense has gotten stops you're in a position now Palmer to put the hammer down and get a three possession Le I'm really impressed with their physicality on both sides the ball early in this one they've been winning in the trenches so here on offense keep running the football and show your dominance he's looking to throw it fires toward the target holds it in and and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play this offense is clicking and clearly everything is working the offensive coordinator calling good plays the quarterback and his unit is executing and this defense right now they have no answers receivers telling the quarterback what they [Applause] see they'll throw it from the Red Zone he wants it all he makes to catch in the end zone tdch down they've got the lead lying to put this one in a hammerlock here in week 10 and the extra point is true and the lead balloons to 21 when these offenses get in a rhythm they're hard to stop already up early got a short field take advantage of it too get another touchdown this offense is doing whatever they want to do and having a lot of success didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 you will mon will has it back in the offense ready to go to work trailing by three touchdowns if you're going to get back in it David the time to start is right now got to start now defense giv up points on that last possession again the offense is going to have to score and Jesse probably scored pretty quickly yeah you got to go Tempo you're going to have to try to fit in as many plays as you can throughout the rest of this game but I think more than that you got to eliminate the negative plays no more penalties and no more turnovers here's the hand off he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football he's going to throw deep right side and that is interception number three on the day trying to take it back he'll finally go out of bounds but he was showing off all the skills after that interception I tell you what it puts you in a tough position when you're backed up inside your own 20 trying to come out but when you're a defense and you can force a turnover and you already set your offense up in scoring position they are going to be extremely happy and that offensive coordinator touchdown Marshall and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board and the extra point makes it 8 to nothing that's taking advantage of a golden opportunity set up with great field position and they struck quickly for the touchdown on the run from inside his own five he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that that's a part of it right if you're going to be a great player you got to learn how to handle these mistakes [Applause] and the incomplete pass leaves him with second down5 from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back moves up to the 34 yd line give him a 10yd pickup this running back loves running into the teeth of the defense in between the tackles he keeps a low pad level and he's got some speed wants to throw it's moty throws to the wide out complete downfield and they're getting it rolling with that play to the 42 yd line they might have the defense's head spinning a little bit now hit him with a big run now they hit him with a big big pass man it's so hard to defend both you know that which coverage do I want to put do I want to put more people in the Box to stop the run when you've got this kind of balance on offense the defense can't be [Applause] right going up top on first down unloads to the wide out tip ball put it up for gron I thought he had it but somehow it slithered through his fingers couldn't connect on that last play now second and 10 from the 42 caught in the back field it's Griffin they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success they make the stop but the sweet throwing catches plenty to give him a first down they wanted to get the ball to the TI in and they've already done it five times and we're not even to the half I'm about to say mission accomplished that's what they want to do take advantage of the matchup right zoner man I like my big fella I like using the tight end all I can great job working him into the offense he's a playmaker find it and he showed off that stiff arm as he had a decent run and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his pads going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone wants to throw on second down it's complete and he's into the end zone touchdown warhawks one of the reasons this offense is so exciting to watch they've got guys that are dangerous after the catch if this quarterback gets through his progression David he gets you in stride these guys will take it to the house man it's your job to do the rest right you hit me in stride where I don't have to stop running I don't have to break down it makes it so easy the connection between quarterback wide receiver you can tell this is a good one and that's why they got six on that play almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return the Marshall offense makes its way back onto the field this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer's a different animal now you got to protect him you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out every off he goes he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down okay ready here's this offense with a fresh set of downs he'll come out throwing on first down got it behind the line it's Robinson Oh What A Move they'll bring him down but not before he put people in the spin cycle how nice is it as a quarterback when you don't have to throw post routes to get great stats no I can just throw it quickly to one of the fastest players in the entire nation and let him burn this defense they're looking to pass from the Red Zone and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down looked like the offense had a chance for a big play there but the running back just could not reel that ball in after the misfire it's second down [Applause] looking downfield it's Braxton he's got the tight end and that corner came in hot despite knowing that he was giving up some siid I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job form tackle boy they'd love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on First and [Applause] goal got it in the middle it's pain The Tackle is made but he's got it first and goal from the six how valuable is a tight end in the red area now they're set up with a first and goal I love it find the big fella down in the red area big Target works the middle of the field easier throws nice job by this offense keeping it very simp yeah and listen the offense has had their way and they've had so much success and so much production but listen at least the defense got a rep you know maybe this gets you some a spark maybe this gets you some energy maybe we'll see a little bit more life from this defense yeah they may not win the game but I think this defensive coaching staff at this point based on how this game has gone they're just trying to find things to build off of maybe that's something they can point to as they get ready for their next opponent of things they did right things that they got to do more consistently the offense calls timeout it's the second one they've used this half thir third and goal coming up [Applause] here from the gun wants to pass looking for the score can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line they'll try to put three on the board as a field goal unit comes on between the uprights it's good and now the leads extended a little F so they put the field goal on the board and about to kick it away and hoping that'll be the final points of this first half on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 you Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work now you find out just how much of a gunslinger you are will you roll the dice here late in the half David and you know the defense is going to be really really conservative so I think it's an opportunity to be able to take a shot see how much of a chunk you can get before then you decide really Jesse how you want finish the half you just can't turn it over and throw a pick if you're the quarterback here you have got to be so smart if you're going to be aggressive with your decision Mak and it is another interception just a terrible struggle for this quarterback and they make the play and make sure there's not any scoring opportunity right here before the end of the half that that really wasn't his best throw I tell you what you got to choose when you're going to zip it in there and sometimes put some air underneath it he chose the wrong one a little too much air underneath that defensive player makes the nice [Music] [Applause] pick time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half and I don't think they got it snap before the play clock ran out delay of game [Applause] offense that is a completely avoidable penalty the quarterback just went into brain lock and lost track of the play clock first down here for the [Applause] offense quarterback reacting to what the D is [Applause] showing movement on the offensive line that's going to be a false start and they'll walk it back false start off mental errors like that just killed drives we'll see if they can overcome it the offense lining up for a first down [Applause] play back to throw it's Braxton going to take a shot and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold on well guess who they're taking a shot to the guy that's just been torching this defense in the the entire first half he's already got over a 100 yards so why not try to add to it and force this defense to prove that they can cover him they did do a nice job right there that's not the last time this guy's going to see the ball thrown his way that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our half time update guys looks like we've got a terrific atmosphere there today in Huntington got things teed up and just about ready to go here in the second half he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 Marshall takes over the ball the Thundering Herd offense coming out looking for a productive play on first down movement on the offense and they'll lose five yards on the penalty false start off so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty the offense set for a first down [Applause] play looking for room it's Boston that keeps the running game churning pick up of five to the 23 three see they need more runs like that it's just it's been so few and far between defensively they've been in position they've been winning their one-on-one battles getting off of blocks and rallying to the ball carrier this defense has done a nice job slowing down the Run game that's far just a little off incomplete they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one [Applause] quarterback will audible looking to throw it's Braxton oh he wants it all reels an end on the left side just gashing this defense a big gain to the 40 yd line and a big reason why this team has the lead in this game is because of plays like that they know they've got Firepower throwing the ball they've got the nudes outside that can make things happen you saw it in the first half and you see it here again early in the third quarter Marshall back at it with another first and [Applause] 10 used the play fake now to throw fires to the wide out he's got it of on the that's a first down this Marshall offense putting together a nice drive they'll leave it with him they wrestle him to the ground but he's got ready for a first down this is going to be a big key for him David with the lead here in the second half running the football right staying on the field and bleeding the clock and run the football you're ahead you can be a little bit more cons erative but again this opens up the pass this keeps everything in balance for this offense C in the back field it's Conley they've got it down to the three yd line really well done on that throwing catch and watch the offensive line here they all block the Run cuz they're blocking run the quarterback decides oh I got a favorable match up he dumps it out to the right makes the right read gets a nice positive game he've got it down to the three now it's second and goal 29 fast motion from the [Applause] offense on second down looking again to throw and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line well they take a sack right down by the goal line guys and I think the route concept really didn't help the quarterback out there normally you're thinking this is going to be a quick hitter get the ball out of his hands fast but that was a very slow developing route concept I think that's the biggest reason he got sacked quarterback making adjustments with his receivers on Third and long he'll need to push it down field he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming and the field goal unit is on the field just drives it between the uprights and now the lead is even bigger let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Conor Kevin what got all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend UT has dug itself a hole today and I don't think they're climbing out of that puffy huge interest in this game and they have rolled over they're trailing by 34 to Middle Tennessee any big developments in this one we've got you covered with the best studio team in the business gentlemen oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down after the big play to start now they are on the move at their own 45 it's complete open Runway ahead and he'll take it to the house he got loose touchdown U Monroe quarterback's abilities to read the field is huge and also the anticipation the timing to be able to throw the football Jess and hit a guy in stride so he can get run after the catch and get in the end zone that was a nice job by the quarterback yeah it's critical David listen lot of times touchdown passes aren't thrown into the end zone you got to read the coverage hit the open guy and let him do the rest and the extra point was good to finish things off about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown from inside the 10 here he comes he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the Marshall offense makes it way back onto the field and had to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they had love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more crisp here DAV yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focused on execution and getting six points they're trying to run the ball on first down guys but just nothing doing up front their offensive line got blown up on that play there was nowhere for that guy to go after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 to the air it's Braxton it's complete on the right side and he just continues to put up numbers and that number is now over 300 this guy just throws completions man the ball doesn't seem to touch the ground he's back there he's making the right reads right now he is locked into what this defense is trying to do he wants to throw finds his man down the middle and that's where they'll Mark him but a chunk play and they pick up a first down and after giving up that completion guys I wonder if defense is going to decide to stay in zone or maybe mix things up a little more man coverage maybe Blitz Marshall back at it with another first and [Applause] 10 he's going to pass fires a bullet now it's picked off he was trying to get that return going instead he'll hand it to his offense at the 38 QB's got to pick and choose their spots when they want to be really aggressive and try to fit balls in tight window great job by the DB making a big play getting the ball back to its offense they'll start this drive with a pass it's caught makes the grabing knock down and he's got it at the 25 yd line yeah I love that the QB understood I'm going to put some stank on this I'm going to throw it as hard as I can quickly right when he's breaking out of that curl nice job getting it to him quick so he could get a first down trying to find his man on first down and that is his fifth interception a nightmare he is not waking up from taking it the other way the 20 and it's going to be a pick six dodg down Thundering Herd just one moment and all of a sudden the Fortune's turn you're in a position where you're about to give up points and now you fli that around and you put points on the board perfectly exec what are you do in an interception first guy blocks the intended receiver everybody else starts to for the wall where the ball's going nice blocking nice interception nice return for the touchdown they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time this possession will be a test after squandering that long drive throwing a pick six Jesse you're right reys well I think this is really dependent too on the leaders in this huddle right now to step up and help this offense get back on Pace here on this drive yeah and this defense is froing at the mouth they're excited they're jacked up they just made a big play they got all the momentum so they're ready to hunt it's first and 10 from the 38 yd [Applause] line the give to the running back from the shotgun and the defense makes the stop after a minimal gain didn't get much on first down it's second and nine the give on the inside a confident tough efficient run gets it up to the 44 football is about adjust first half line up pound strong pound strong second half great job you're going to move your def shift to try to account for that boom we'll pull some guys and run a counter backside and have some success working on the right they'll move the chains good execution on third down they've got it at the 41 they're running the curl route against Zone coverage the quarterback knows that's going to be a tight window he's got to rifle that ball into his wide receiver he does just that and as a result they pick up the first down going to take a shot and he throws yet another interception does he know which color jerseys they're wearing he'll try to take it back a big turnover here for the defense to end the [Music] quarter guys it is Marshall carrying the lead into the quarter break let's take a quick look at the national rankings to see how this playoff race is shaking up they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down to the air it's Braxton get it out on the screen not able to break the big one on that screen to the running back but he found enough and a solid pick up on first down I tell you what if you want to be overzealous and you want to be a Blitzer all the time I like running the screen right behind him did a great job throwing the screen almost broke this one for a long game but it just keeps the defense a little bit more honest if you want to start bringing a lot of pressure couldn't find anyone open here and he'll live to fight another play it'll be third down a nice job by the quarterback there you're outside the pocket nobody's open so you throw the ball away knowing that you still have more chances to get this first down couldn't find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and four the receivers often will run their route based on a side adjustment in the gun and looking to throw on third down complete and looking for enough for the first down Marshall will be forced to punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away he'll field the Putt and look for room good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man you Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work boy they had that last Drive moving a little bit David but then the mistake just crushed them yeah and those mistakes are going to happen you're going to throw the football you're going to throw interceptions but I think I stay aggressive with this offense I get back to what I did on the first part of that drive what made me successful I agree David just turn the page if you're a quarterback right on this drive you did a lot of good things there leading up to that pick forget about it move on play the next play got his man open space at the 25 touchdown warhawks made the snag and strolled his way into the end zone nice pitch nice catch and listen maybe this helps next game right like we're trying to find a rhythm find something that works find somebody to go to and this offense is struggling you're down by a thousand but I like that they continue to fight any makes the extra point the deficit is huge this one is all but over the they'll keep trying and line up for the onside kick few anxious moments there but the hands team true to its name as they make the grab and get the ball Marshall takes over the ball the Thundering Herd offense coming out after a punt on their last possession they are set up in plus territory this time and honestly it wouldn't have mattered if they SC a touchdown their last possession you've got to be able to turn the page and see this as a brand new opportunity to go get points yeah and your defense has set you up for a position to get points right away now let's get this offense back rolling again create some momentum just get a few first downs and I'm in all kinds of Running Room and he'll be forced out of bounds but not before yet another big play in this passing attack they showed great trust in their quarterback right there and why not he's had an outstanding game outstanding game has taken care of the football now late in the game you got the lead that first down now tells me now it's time to start running the football run the clock get out of here with the [Applause] D looking for a physical attack from the gun and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage it's hard to run on a defense that comes off the ball like that and runs to the football like that good luck no holes anywhere dropping back it's Braxton incomplete and he threw that one up for gron into traffic and fortunate to get it back oo quarterback lucky that one wasn't picked you got to be really careful down here in the Red Zone cuz these windows are small and defenders close on the ball that one should have been an INT third and long and he'll try to throw for it well the quarterback can make a big play when he starts moving around huge game before he goes out of bounds and now they've got it first and goal these third Downs man they're critical down in distances when you have mobile quarterbacks it's just so great to know that one they can get it throwing it for your offense but two if it's not there they can take off and scramble and generate big plays as well this guy now because of his athleticism he's got the offense knocking on the door inside the opponent T down herd and the punishment has been extended they extend this lead and it looks as if they are going to make it two wins in a row the offense flexes its muscle a bit and widens the Gap take a little exhale you know you did your job you got points now you put your defense in position where hey go out and get another stop we're in great shape so the offense definitely taking care of their business oh how could that happen he misses the extra point and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the studio all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend Mississippi state is ahead early in Stark Vegas but that's not exactly Dak Prescott out there this game is a long way from being over they're up he wants to start this drive with a pass pulls it in it's Boston and good coverage by the defense just a short gain again this is a running back that can hurt you running it between the tackles and he's dangerous out in space they like to throw it to him out on the perimeter as he picks up a couple of yards there quarterback changing the plays at the line to the air it's Braxton unleashes to the end zone can't make the grab as he was going for six right there sometimes as a quarterback when you're feeling a rhythm and you're feeling yourself you just want to keep taking shots right this guy's already thrown three touchdown passes he saw a look he lik decided to Let Her Fly I haven't seen a lot of balls falling complete especially deep down the field that one did but I'd expect this guy to keep letting it [Applause] go on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air makes the grab it's metap he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the eight there are a lot of offensive coordinators out there in a similar situation with a lead like this uh they'd definitely be running the ball at this point uh they' probably take their starting quarterback out of the game potentially but not this unit they are still staying aggressive there touchdown Marshall and the route is on starting to see some Smiles on that sideline as they're close to a week 10 Victory and this always is the debate of where you fall it's your job to stop me or I should get conserved because this offense obviously has had themselves a day and apparently their day is not over they're going to continue to keep scoring and the defense better do something about it good job by the coverage unit to put a stop to that return guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time line gets set first down he wastes no time and comes out throwing setting up the screen and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pick up love the execution there on the screen the running back shows pass protect pass protect last second turns around so he's able to get the ball the D lineman have already run past him now he can turn up field for a big Gainer he just missed the Target on that one got to put it on his body at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage here they come trying to convert a third and short from the 28 receiver looks it in it's complete and he picked up the first down but he will remember the price he paid after that hit it's tough on the defense there third down you're in zone coverage everybody's watching the quarterback and you're trying to make a break on the ball but he just got it out of his hands too quickly and the throw was too accurate really nothing you can do there and it's now a fresh set of downs and a really nice job by the wide receiver you run a drag route fine space they're in zone coverage they're not covering manto man find a little hole look at that QB y'all get on the same page you could tell they were and that's why they got the first down gets it out quickly and they'll pick up the first down and Mark it at the 47 well the defense did a nice job taking everything away down the field but once the drag route was caught they just couldn't rally to the ball carrier in time to make a tackle and as a result new set of downs the quick out he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense the warhawks come to the line with a fresh set of downs wants to throw on first down he's going to let one fly down the middle and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in second and 10 here they're going to throw it again unloads to the wide out and that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum looking to pass it's Moody he's going to let one fly down the middle it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one and they'll keep it away from The Return Man as the punt goes out of bounds the Marshall offense makes its way back onto the field we'll see what they can do on this drive as it starts at the [Music] eight off the play fake on first down to throw can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down I'm a little bit surprised they're still throwing the football here this late in the game with this kind of lead they're on first down taking a shot Falls incomplete but obviously they're still seeing matchups that they want to take advantage of in the back end of this defense so they're letting it fly here we go now the play fake he's going for the big [Applause] play and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it this reminds me of the guy I used to play for in college down in Gainesville the head ball coach he used to like to do this he would have big leads in the fourth quarter he was still letting his QBs throw it deep down the field it's third down now they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning quarterback checking off on third down going up top how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion and they needed that one and that took every bit of concentration by the wide receiver there that was awesome big third down you got to make the catch but you got to make sure you stay in bounds he did a really good job of securing that and keeping the chains moving squl s to throw it's Braxton working that left side now right on target with that last pass now it's second and [Applause] medium motion from the [Applause] offense they'll Run play action he rifles one deep down the right side and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge game if he could have held on and that's a good stop for this defense and listen there hasn't been a lot of positive today but like let's finish this game strong I think that'll be the message from the defensive coordinator can we get a stop can can we get them off the field I know a lots went wrong but like let's live in this moment and try to be great right here to end the game can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard-nosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down Marshall will be forced to punt let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 U Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work this has been a really disappointing performance David no question about that but they can find some POS yeah and every time you watch the tape you know Jesse coaches are pointing out look at this this was open if we just ran the details to the right route hung on to the football little things can make a big difference yeah that's why they call it a game of inches David but I'll say this if you're on offense don't go on social media this week it ain't going to be pretty after this performance you got to lock in you got to take the week of practice very seriously and find those positives that you can build off David you're talking about it's first and 10 from the 44 Y Line looking to move it through the air they'll throw it to the back on the screen and that defense pushing him out of bounds after a short gain and this game is obviously out of hand but I think the fans would argue too at this point like all right well let's not throw check Downs right let's throw some deep balls and continue to open up this offense and keep fighting I think that's what you want to see you want to see your squad not quit keep fighting until the very end of the football game blasted as he lets to go that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down trying to pick up a first down back to pass it's moty unloads to the right he makes a catch and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and Jesse there's a huge mountain to climb here but you might as well start with a chunk play well you got to start somewhere ree it's been tough going for this offense all game long they find themselves in a hole but I love the aggressive nature keep taking shots keep trying to claw your way back into this one it falls incomplete he was trying to find his man for six after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down he's looking to throw not much of a chance there he just to get rid of it to avoid the sack and this defense has put a game together like it is hard to put all the facets of Defense together run defense pass defense they've been so good man dialed in you could tell they were ready ball into the end zone and it's intercepted that's why you love veterans in this defense they stay locked in on their rules and he made the pick nice job by this defense that might be the exclamation point fourth quarter I got to lead bring on the defense you know they're passing the football for plays just like that to make the int and almost put this one away they'll throw it on first down almost intercepted it'll fall incomplete the defense almost came up with a turnover and how about this offense they're they're not worried about the clock they're not worried about the score they're not worried about early and downs still trying to execute their offense still trying to make big plays play and they've had a great day so far four wide out set three of them to the left on second and [Applause] 10 misfired on the last play they'll go back to the air just too much juice on that one as he air mails his receiver out of bounds well on that incompletion the quarterback and receiver just not on the same page I mean that wasn't even close third and 10 still backed up inside their own 20 this drive hasn't really gotten started quarterback checking the play trying to move the sticks on third down through the air just masterful working that sideline and and getting the toe down for the catch Marshall back at it with another first and 10 wide receiver now comes in [Applause] motion looking to throw it's Braxton coming after it and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf well this defense felt coming into the game that if he was going to try to throw from the pocket they could get to him and affect his accuracy and they did on that last play [Applause] right back to the air on second and 10 throws to the wide out he's got it timeout called by the offense CL stopped with 21 seconds left now on first down from the 43 three he's looking to throw it fires to the wide out he got a hand in there knocks it away incomplete well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy's had thrown the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule R he'll try it again on second and 10 and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete well the quarterback was in a world of trouble there he was under pressure he knew he was going to get hit so he's just trying to get rid of it but he forced it into double coverage he's lucky that was only an incompletion they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here [Applause] on Third and long he has to throw for it fires to the right it's caught down field they get the timeout call with s seconds left on the clock from the 17 yd line threatening to score on First and 10 [Applause] from the Red Zone looking for a man can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line ball hasn't hit the ground a lot for this QB he's already thrown four TD passes he saw a look wanted to take another shot and that time they just fall short with the incompletion but this defense they have not had the answer with respect to defending the pass in this game now the quarterback changing the original play call dropping back it's braon looking to the end zone and he was going for the touchdown there and they couldn't make the connection this is what an elite team does they know they're better they go out they take the figurative sledgehammer and hit them right between the eyes and they just look good in every phase of the game if I'm on the coaching staff I don't know what you could ask for your guys to do better I think the challenge now for this team is going out next week and trying to play with the same type of intensity in the same level of execution well Jesse it's easy to look good on the field when you look that good in your unit like when you look that good coming off the bus those dudes are good this is a great team and they proved it just domination from start to finish that's
