Claire band students have been accepted as first and second chair students into the four rivers Conference pan spoke to them as well as their instructor mr. Carney he also asked about the preparation process for auditions for conference band the students prepared their audition materials outside of band I gave them the materials they had a choice to play between two different pieces and then there it was their job to go and prepare themselves and then audition for a judge if they were picked for the conference band then they are they got their music that night they're to be working on it on their own and then there'll be one day long rehearsal where the guest director will come in and direct them they will have ideally practice their parts before that rehearsal so you try and fit everything together and then they play two concerts basically he gives us like before class in first hour an advisory and he already has like the measures or what you need to play set ahead of time so you basically just run through that over and over again and then once you got it you're good to go well you look over all the materials that you have you're given a certain set of scales and given a certain piece of music that you're supposed to rehearse so it's fair I just went over my music and took a bye all of my friends and work together with them and try to get it down as best to be good so to prepare for my judging I it's just you have to take the materials that you have the music and sit down practice it read through it play through it listen to it just make sure that you're totally prepared mister Karthik's Plains to us what chairs mean in band competition a chair in band first chair second chair third chair that determines what part you're going to place so in most band pieces there are three trumpet parts as the first part which generally is the higher notes the second part middle notes third part is the lowest notes generally first parts have the melody so a first chair player usually plays the more important parts the more melodic parts and usually the higher notes typically it is a tad more difficult than say a second chair or a third chair but not by much and see it's kind of important it shows that you really worked hard and what you did and you earned the spot that you made means that you really you took your time and practiced it gave it your all the seat means a lot to me because you know I've been in band for you know since fifth grade and I've always strived to be the best I could be and you know getting the really high chairs means that you are the best of the best and that you know what you're doing you're talking about the best musicians from all the schools in our conference so even the last chair player in our conference band is an exceptional musician and plays probably plays a higher part in their own school band than what they would in the conference band Congrats to all those wonderful performers now we move to our sports director Trey we talked with the head coach of the wrestling team in two of our wrestler [Music] [Music] [Music] this week we interviewed Ryan Herman John Michael Davenport and coach Mel Hughes over the boys wrestling season so far well like I've said before we we do have some separate boys to competitions and girl competition but as far as the season goes we look at all as one and just like the girls uh you know had some real highlights and we've had some struggles you know we've heard with on the boys side injuries has been a big thing for us this year we didn't have a lot of death to begin with didn't have big numbers out to start with in the season and then it just seemed to hit at all the the wrong spots and so it's been difficult for us to compete well in dual meets now we're still holding our own in tournaments because we've got such a you know we've got some guys that are pretty heavy hitters you know our top three in the lineup Dalton Thompson and Ryan Herman Aaron Herman they're their top ranked in the state in any class you know I think Ryan and Aaron are both ranked first in the state class two and Dalton's ranked four but they're also all three in the top ten or so with all classes combined so those guys do a great job they're always in the tournament championships winning a lot of championships and our young guys uh you know they're coming in they're they're they're scrapping together we're starting to put some wins together so you know it's been a workmanlike season but the bottom line is I think they'll be ready for that district championships and that's what counts with the top four from our district will qualify for the state championships and right now as far as the team we're on them there's no we don't have the girls team ranked right now but the boys team regardless and despite or what we've been able to indulge towards they look at what's going to happen in the state championships and right now we're ranked 6th in the state in one of the national polls and ranked eighth in the state in the Missouri poll so you know we just everything for us is about getting ready for that state championships and this weekend coming up is a big opportunity to prepare for that with what their own tournament being hosted here we interviewed Ryan Harmon and his approach to the season wrestle every match the same wrestle like I'm wrestling the best guy I've ever wrestled so we're low on numbers but we're gonna punch a couple through this state and maybe come out with a couple state champs we interviewed John Davenport of what got him to start wrestling um I wanted to do wrestling for a while and I heard my friend contact are talking about it and Ryan so I decided that I would give it a try
