Can an 8 handicap golfer Break 80 at Macdonald Portal?

hey guys Rory here from your golf travel I'm at McDonald portal today we are taking on the championship course the theme of today's video is can I break 80 around this tough Championship layout yesterday we played the premiere course I did not play well so if I was you I'd jump into the comment section and vote no but for anyone who thinks I can break Casey jump into the comment section down below and post what you think I'll be shooting through 18 holes on this golf course [Music] foreign [Applause] I think had I actually done some warming up and hit a good one I wouldn't be fire off the front edge so nice gentle start here on the championship having said that now I've got a tight line on The Fairway and a pitch shot over a bunker so not exactly my forte [Music] I've actually played it lovely if that's it I'll take that every day about 20 feet [Music] power start 80. we're on for 80 people it's happening [Music] like 320 yard Par Four second I reckon I can actually get quite close to this alley if I rip one's downwind downhill yeah if you certainly hit one like you did on the first I think you've been there with that car to go but thanks for a little bit of a quick lift through the back windscreen like that oh yes go let's get about four that could be so good big bounce boom I reckon that could be on you know you hear that very well that's not going to be far off lovely Good Start maybe I should aim to break 80 more often like instead of just aimlessly bashing balls around you know right I thought I would just actually walk this one while Ali zooms off on the buggy looking for his ball and you may have noticed I've got my putter in my hand you can see my ball straight through the middle of the green and just off onto the back Fringe so putting for Eagle on this par four seconds foreign tester can I go on the part early which would stand me in really good Stead of getting this round off to a good start with a solid front nine no is the answer ah that was horrific oh dear I mean I would have helped wouldn't that I'm definitely gonna need to take chances like that if I want to shoot 80 but I mean cheaper half start can't complain too much right 130 left into the PIN um slightly downwind again I'm just gonna bang this new 50 degree wedge I don't really know how far it goes but pitching wood seems like a lot of Club to me pulled it a bit but front left to the green and the right yardage note to self 130 yard Club Wednesday morning still haven't seen another goal drop of course cheaper rate no other goal was to get in your way Happy Days I'm loving that see as I was saying we're here Wednesday first day the break was a Tuesday and I know obviously your annual leave is precious but if you do have a few days to spare midweek golf breaks in the UK at venues like McDonald portal we just haven't we've seen one three ball on the course yesterday through 18 holes and let one single golfer through and today I think we're first out on the golf course had to say apart from that tractor is making the course look all prim and proper it's beautifully peaceful out here and there's just no one to be seen we can take our time and you know all my colleagues and friends are at work so I feel a little bit smug another par five up the hill it's gonna play along just again just reiterating how nice this golf course is so much better than I was expecting you know that phrase a picture paints a thousand words not 100 True of this venue because I checked out on the yogurt travel website aided rated 8.2 out of 10 by you guys obviously you guys know what it's all about I've never been here before my expectations I didn't really have any and it's kind of been super impressive from start to finish it's Premiere course yesterday was great Hotel was a really nice standard the food was good the bed was super comfortable oh my God and so far after three holes this championship course you're looking absolutely mint so let's see if we can continue a decent start a little bit up the right but it should be fine seeing it bouncing well I've actually ended up coming into this water hazard which I did not notice here the ball was literally [Music] [Applause] in there so taking a bit of a drop hitting my third now it's unfortunate like it wasn't a terrible shot I just literally had no idea that was there see maybe I should have bought a quarter planner [Applause] stays out of that bunker that's just a nice shot yeah that was a six iron just pumped up the middle maybe get up another part but hopefully limit just just a six at worst that's on it hits the right yardage what nice really good shot we see how high that bounced yeah pretty firm these greens oh somebody's here lovely you almost feel like a birdie getting out of this hole apart after a visit to the water hazard [Applause] [Music] definitely definitely just running a little bit slower than the greens yesterday but they are still quite dewy this morning so I just need to start hitting a few putts just a little bit harder foreign [Music] two gone in a row oh that's very disappointing two over [Music] I'm getting pretty close to uh being in trouble on this hole twice now but um I might have to actually stand in the bunker to play this one we're not quite standing in like this is just being measured to Perfection so far this hole 56 I just need to pitch it just on really and let it release I mean with my pitching I'll take that every day I've probably got about 15 feet for a par I guess three in a row and we've just realized that this is actually a par 73 golf course so the braking 80 thing just got a little bit more difficult but I can only shoot six over par and I've now gone to three over par three six holes so definitely needs to get back on the par train because a triple of bogeys it's not exactly conducive to shooting six over cross those fingers for me people [Music] [Music] sneaky foreign I've hit it well not that far offline but obviously with the camera of the Hill coming down this way it's rolled out onto the semi-ruff of the next hole beautifully framed green regarded by bunkers at the front up on top of the slope so not an easy approach shot right there pretty good isn't it yeah nice shot definitely have found something with my irons as you guys will know I really struggle with mines for a long time now just with strike more than anything and I'm definitely finding the middle of the club face more often that definitely helps um hitting them long and kind of after yesterday's round was missing a lot left with the good strikes kind of recalibrated over the last couple of holes and now finding my start line as well so another Green in reg totally we can two butt here get out with another par maybe even hold it for a birdie you never know foreign [Music] yeah like really happy with that um because even the bogeys that I made fairly like stress-free ones I've not been scrambling around looking for you know trying not to triple bogey and stuff like that so dog leg right Par Four to the marker pole there but I think that's fourth conservative people marker is just there over that Hill I'm going closer to the tree line um so you're definitely worth buying a course plan because you come to play portal for the first time because there are a couple of blind t-shirts too far right but it's absolutely fine up there quite nice release keep releasing I mean it's on the green and that's kind of as much you can say about that three over though still I'm really happy with this start and I really think maybe with the way I'm hitting my eyes say I can actually break 80 on this course [Music] foreign [Music]
