e hello hello I didn't realize I clicked start live stream so um I apologize to to those who have been sitting here for that long but um it was only like 30 seconds but I appreciate you guys for being here for another episode of The Selection Central Podcast here on the sofo soccer channel my name is Matt your host and uh today we're just going to be previewing Argentina's game upcoming game against Colombia um and game eight of the World Cup qualifying here in in South American uh for the South American team team so I was not expecting that at all that's so stupid okay um but anyway um so we got a couple of things to talk about today I have a couple of things written down um we're going to just talk about what this game really means for both Argentina and Colombia we're going to talk about um just a little bit of history behind both teams uh the starting 11s because Gaston UL those you guys know very um well-known um journalist Argentinian journalist is's talking about the starting lineups um as the game approaches or as you know as kickoff really approaches and yeah we'll just kind of give a starting or we'll just give a a prediction before the game and then afterwards we're going to talk more we're going to review we're going to review after the game we're going to come back and do a postgame review mono buendia good morning uh good morning good afternoon good evening to wherever you guys are watching it is currently 12:00 p.m. eastern time um here in a beautiful Sunny South Florida and uh yeah so so the kick kickoff is supposed to be 4:30 eastern time here where I'm at uh 3:30 I'm pretty sure in Colombia and then it' be wherever else I think central time it also be like 3:30 I think like 12:30 or something in in the west coast um but anyway let's get so I mean like this game is very excited right probably probably the the most I guess quote unquote most anticipated game from um in this like World Cup qualifying thus far uh in these last two games Colombia versus Argentina literally a repeat of the Copa America final um this is a Colombia team that has been undefeated for what like the last two years is an Argentina team who is like the best national team in the world currently um winning back toback Obamas finisima World Cup uh they just look Unstoppable and they've honestly I think they've only lost like one game um if that I think like like we're literally we have just we we just well we haven't lost in like I think 11 matches or 12 matches after that Chile game so we haven't lost in like 12 games we are just an on an absolute tear um and now we face now we Face a really kind of I I was going to say an informed Columbia but we're going to get to that in a minute but this is a Colombia team that um probably the best Colombia team that we've seen since probably of like the 2014 World Cup and even even then or like maybe even in like 2019 like we this is the best probably the one of the better Colombia sides that we've seen in a while in terms of performance wise um but even then uh this is still an Argentina side that is better like it's just a lot better overall uh mono hello from Northern California oh damn how is it in Northern California over there is it nice and sunny over there and Luffy Messi says hi from South Korea that that is the first person that we've gotten on any live stream uh from South Korea so thank you L for being here uh I appreciate you uh what time is it in South Korea just out of curiosity appreciate you guys for being here um anyway but yes but as you guys know in the C medic a final Argentina beat Colombia on extra time in the 112 minute thanks to lar Martinez and um Colombia are going to want to come back for Revenge right like Colombia are going to want to get revenge from that final I mean like they they were playing very defensively I mean like they they knew they were The Underdogs going into it but they still they still were trying to they were trying to extend it to PKS they were really really trying their hardest to kind to extend it to PKS they did have an opportunity here and there if I I recall correctly and I don't think they're going to want to do that now I mean like they're playing on their home turf like they're playing in bangia it's going to be super super hot out which we'll get to also in a minute and so they're going to have that Home Advantage playing in front of their home crowd and I don't think they're going to want to sit back and play defensively even though this is a very very tough Argentinian side um this is probably going to be like it's probably going to be be very difficult for Argentina playing in this heat it is it's reported to be about like 90 like about 90° uh over there if I could show you guys that part um this this is what I looked up if it's accurate or I know I don't know but it's a set to be 90° fahit over in bangia right now that is I believe 30 like 31 30° C could be around there but um I Rush my case so yeah it's going to be very very difficult um to kind of adapt to that environment that's not something that I don't think anybody is used to playing on like a regular basis only if you live in South Florida like literally only in Miami are are adaptable in the in that kind of situation but yes it's very hot and sunny in in in Northern California but yeah so it's going to be so I think I think it'll be interesting to see what scalon would would how like how he would approach this game in terms of strategy and tactic because when when it's hot and it's humid um and even if with the possibility of rain you don't really want to Tire your players out too early so we normally play very very aggressively very high pressure high intensity don't know if we're going to be playing the same way today um however it is reported that Leon SC is going to be doing like the same lineup the same sort of like or almost the same starting 11 from last time against Chile he's going to be playing um he's going to be playing now in the you know in this game if if I show you guys this is what he tweeted out a couple of minutes ago he says ties lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez they are confirmed to be starting as well as M Alister he has said um he has said that there are doubts that NCO Gonzalez will be playing uh Nik Gonzalez as well as Lelo Lelo there's also a lot of doubts that Lelo could be playing um like here I he also said there was somebody else oh Nik endi endi is going to be starting according to Gaston edul he's confirmed to be their Captain they're starting center back so if if we look back right if we look back and kind of anticipate like a starting 11 with endi with laar martinus with julan with with macalister is essentially the same thing that we've said or the same thing that we've seen against Chile the only questionable you know factor is who is going to be playing on that left mid left wing back uh role and so this is kind of what I put together I want to show you guys this this is what I put together here this is the start this is a predicted starting 11 for this upcoming game against Colombia now I put the back three as the same as last time or El divu uh in goal with martinez CTI and otamendi as the back three um don't know if they're going to go with the back three this time but I'm anticipating I'm anticipating that they will um otamendi a lot of people said that otamendi or either they didn't want him to start or they didn't know he was going to start I thought it was I thought it was fairly obvious that otami was going to start being the fact that he is the captain he is their leader he is Argentina's leader with the absence of Messi and so when Messi's not there endi takes takes the armband so um I didn't I thought it was kind of a no-brainer that almen would play because they would want a leader on uh in this team and if it's not on theendi I really don't know who you would give it to don't know if that would be like the ball or I'm not really sure like I honest who would you think would be the captain if it's not otamendi would it be like deu would it be deol would it be I don't know would it be uh like Eno because he captained for Chelsea that one time right but anyway but that would be the back three and then I would have Molina and and aunia um as the as part of the the Wingers like the wing backs playing Winger now Molina I've went with Molina over Montiel I think Molina has gotten more game time Montiel hasn't really been getting a lot of game time uh even though he has a lot of experience playing with this team I've said this before but I I'll brief repeat it he hasn't gotten a lot of game time with the you know with at Club level but you know he's very experienced with this team so but honestly I think Monti or Molina has play he played well last time out so I think he'll probably get another start aunia I like aunia I really highly rate Akuna um I think he he's very versatile he can really get up and down that Left Flank so he can do essentially what niik Gonzalez does um I was thinking about doing cuz we also have the of of Garo as well we have a gar we can play Garo on that left hand side there don't know how well Garo does you know tracking back on defense essentially so I mean like yes he could be he's really really quick he has that pace he even has he probably has that stamina to play for the majority of the game but does he have um the work rate to run up and down the field um for the dur for like literally the 70 80 minutes or however long he plays because there's going to be Subs right like Leonard scalon is going to be making subs in this heat um with the intensity that that they'll be playing in they're going to have to rest players like whether and it's going to happen a lot earlier too like in the 50th 60th 70th minute we're going to be seeing Subs like being made um so like yeah I put aunia just kind of as a temporary thing we don't know it could be Akuna it could be Nico it could be Lelo it could be uh Garo it could be literally anybody it could be dybala for all we know it dybala could be playing on the left hand side or Julian could be playing as like a left Striker left wing dbal could be playing on the right we have no idea I'm debal could be playing on that left side so yeah it's we we have no idea so that that that spot is still very up in the air even to to to a lot of fans a lot of journalists no one really knows scalone obviously knows who he's going to be playing but that has yet to be revealed yet M thr is 100 % going to be starting my has been a huge he's been a very very crucial part um to argentinians uh to argentinians to Argentina side against Chile I thought he was a very crucial piece of the Midfield I mean all three of them honestly that with with depal with Eno with mist I thought all three of them were like those three was literally like the Magic Triangle of the Midfield um obviously M alist getting a goal last time out he did get subed off in the 80th minute de Eno Contin on like they played the entire 90 minutes don't know if that's going to be happening in this uh in this game I mean on the bench we do have the likes of um who who can play in the Midfield I mean like we have lero but he's doubtful we don't know if he's actually going to be playing but we do have El guilo Rodriguez we have um we have a Leandro bares so we we have options in the Midfield that we can use as substitutes but um well well we're going to have to see because the there's not going to be a lot of players that are going to be playing the entirety of the 90 minutes nice try I appreciate that Leon thank you um I liked the garano dybala sub from the last game I loved those subs from the last game as well DB dybala coming off the bench and garano Off the Bench I really really liked it um he probably could be we could be seeing that again honestly I think gacha Off the Bench 100% I will be seeing I don't know if he'll be starting like I I would rather see gacho come off the Ben I think he could be really really lethal um dybala kind of up in the I mean like dybala probably could come off the bench as well I think I don't really see him necessarily I don't I don't see him starting I don't see him starting not in this Midfield Trio I think this is our best Midfield Trio honestly um I don't see like obviously Martinez and Julian are confirmed to start and what like Molina is not going to be they're not I don't think they're going to play with the back four they're going to want a excuse me they're going to want that left mid and right mid pushing up um so yeah no I don't see dybala starting but as much as I love dybala and as much as I love seeing that number 10 on him as much as I love him as a player don't know if I'm I'm going to see him starting I think it it's going to be Akuna on that left mid spot with Molina uh our front four is Unstoppable I mean dude I think with when we go on the attack um whether that's niik Gonzalez with in that in last game it was niik Gonzalez Martinez Julian and Molina um even with de and mallister start getting getting further up the field dude like we we were Unstoppable honestly we were Unstoppable it's going to be a lot difficult uh I think defensively Colombia look a little they have I think better better players compared to Chile but I think regardless um we should be we should be blowing past them um we should I don't know we should we should be we should be doing a lot better but yeah I think I think it's very lethal with with the with the game that lar Martinez had last time out the same thing that with julan with with his If he if julan can like pressure and run up and down the field as much even in this heat the way that he always does like I feel like we'll be chilling we honestly we'll be chilling because it's it's so crazy because this is the first time that we've seen an Argentina side without Di Maria and Messi so normally when you have somebody like Messi especially right and this is not me like bashing Messi but when you have a player like Messi when you have a player like Messi he's not tracking back like Messi does not run like he does not like go on defense he does not pressure as as much as somebody like Julian would as deul as as Martinez as literally anybody else on the field like everybody else tracks back they pressure well they they mark their man Messi just roams like he'll just walk around he'll Roam and but so and that's not me bashing him right but this is the first time where we see an entire like every player on that field in that starting 11 tracking back pressuring Whoever has the ball nobody's walking around and it's like it's very it's very awesome to see their work rate is very very high is what essentially is what I'm trying to say which is very very awesome EJ I appreciate you for being here bro I know it's like the middle of the day and like everyone's working or like early in the morning so I appreciate you guys being here um so but yeah no I mean regardless of of whoever starts well um Akuna Garo dybala Lelo uh whoever starts where I'm expecting a lot of goals and um I'm expecting a lot of goals and I'm expecting a win here today now the only thing right I mean look okay before I get into what I was going to say the only thing that I have to say right I don't want to jinx this but since 2011 our head-to-head record against Colombia right is 5 six and one so Colombia has won one game against Argentina since 2011 and that was in the 2019 World Cup group stage where they finished on top over us we tied to them six times and we beat them five times so we have a record like we have a pretty decent record of them we we haven't we have only lost once I we I don't plan on losing to them again I don't really I don't plan on it Colombia last time out they drew against Peru right they drew against Peru a dis honestly that's a disappointing draw to Colombia's end right and and this is kind of a good shift to to to Colombia's form um Colombia tied to Peru literally the worst gon B Team um probably like I was going to say probably I was going to say it's between them and Bolivia but according to the standings they're the worst like according to the sings literally Peru are the worst are the worst team ever I'm trying to pull that up for you guys but literally Peru are dead last yeah I'm about to show you right now Peru are dead last they have three points out of seven and those three points were all draws uh that was they tied to Venezuela they tied to Colombia I don't know who the other tie was but they're not they're not doing good and Colombia somebody a team that is in third place who has been like on this undefeated the only team that is undefeated in this group stage who've like went undefeated for like they tied to Peru and Peru and the and the crazy thing is Peru almost won that game and they should have probably should have won that game like they've had a lot of opportunities um at during certain points in in in that game where Peru could have snuck three points like they could have stole three points from Colombia which would have been huge for Peru um in terms of their fight for even maybe getting a playoff spot like a qualification like spot uh because the top six if you guys remember top six go through the Seventh Place spot plays like a playoff game so um you you I don't know I mean like it's it's kind of it's kind of questionable I mean I'm I'm kind of questioning Colombia and what they could do against Argentina like if they're struggling to put goals past Peru what are they going to do against Argentina you Monaco expect some some beautiful goals today the chat overlay looks clean I appreciate it I I 100% agree um it really really looks clean it's better than the streamyard I'm not going to lie there's no like no watermark up here I don't got there's it's not in 720p it's in 4k or 1080p or however you're watching this so it's definitely 100 100% like cleaner and nicer I just got to work on like a little intro thing that I got to do like a little like starting graphic um that we'll get to in in a minute cafos yeah no I don't we don't we don't expect um a Revenge I don't so yeah bottom line is to kind of just wrap things up up here uh and this is going to be a shorter stream than usual but um to kind of wrap things up here don't I don't expect Colombia to be winning this game um despite the fact that I I understand that they they have the Home Advantage that they're probably going to have the heat in their favor but even if they have the heat in their favor it's not really in their favor the majority of the starting 11 for Colombia they they play in Europe like they play in in the cold like the unless like like I'm from New York I'm originally from New York I live in South Florida now if I go back to I've been living in South Florida for years now for like maybe 8 years 7 years if I go back to New York to where I'm from who where I lived in for 16 years I've lived in New York for 16 years if I go back to New York and I go during the cold I'm going to be freezing like I'm not gonna be I'm not going to be like oh yeah this is like I'm used to this like no like I'm going to be freezing so these guys colombias they're going to go back to Colombia they're going to go to Bania and they're going to be they're going to be hot they're going to be hot as hell they're going to be sweating their ass off and so they're not going to have any sort of advantage in terms of weather the the only Advantage they have is the Home Advantage in terms of attendance and the crowd and things like that but in terms of weather um they're not going to be they're not going to have any sort of Advantage at all so but with that being said um I think lisis Diaz was probably their best player um against Peru I'm um and it doesn't say a lot because they didn't have a good game like they just genuinely didn't have a good game I'm trying to pull pull up that lineup for you guys uh right here this the lineup with gordov CA um jamus Rodriguez came off for sistera in the second half I'm pretty sure and then Diaz scoring the goal getting out of the match moika and Munos I thought did pretty well but their defense I didn't think played well at all um we had Lura who I don't I don't know how LMA is actually doing he has a high rating here but I don't know how honestly how well he performed I don't remember off the top of my head but it's just like very mid it's just very bang average very mid and mid is not something that you can have or you can like do or like perform when you're playing against the world champions you can't be playing mid against the best national team arguably in the world I think it's one of the best national teams in in history and currently in the world besides Spain and speaking of Spain we do have that feel isima thing which I don't know if you guys saw uh I did make a I don't know if I talked about it in the last in the last stream but the finisima Argentina versus Spain it was expected to be next year but Scallon said that it's not going to happen because they just don't have the space for it I know I posted about it on YouTube if you guys follow on the YouTube Community tab make sure you have that notification Bell turned on so you know when I post things um you I use the YouTube Community tab a lot cuz a lot of you guys react would engage with it um I said that the that Pisa thing is not going to be happening uh next year it's going to be because of the fact that they just don't have the schedule like they have no room in their schedule to play that game so scalon said that they're going to be playing it most likely in 2026 the same year as the World Cup uh which is which is kind of crazy I mean like it's I mean I guess it's not essentially kind of it's not like it's not out there right it's not outrageous right but playing a finisima playing essentially two this is the one of the biggest matches this is equivalent to a World Cup final so they be they're going to be playing a World Cup Final in what is predicted to be in March of 2026 and then go into that summer playing the World Cup um this would honestly if that does happen I personally I think it'll probably be a good test for Argentina because this is a really good Spanish team right this is a really good Spain team they obviously they won the Euros they have a lot of young prospects and even some of the guys in their Prime and in their mid-20s they are really really good like Roy like Dano they have obviously linaman who you see here on the cover um they have aenas who's going to be the who's an amazing goalkeeper it's like like like who's their defense gella they have gal uh I think it's Lon and who's the other Defender maybe kuari if he if he gets up there like if he if he starts for the first team but but um then we have you know th this will be a good test it's going to be a good test for Argentina because we don't play against European teams Europe are just you know Europe European nation just have a lot a lot of good great talent and they play with a lot of the better nations in the world um you know it kind of sucks to say or it's kind of annoying to say but you know the South American teams they play against easier opponents um they have an easier way to qualify the World Cup like Argentina are breezing through this this World Cup qualifying I mean like the top like six out of 10 teams in g b qualify for the World Cup that's like insanely easy for you not to qualify like you just have to really suck um so I think this would be a good a good prep game for the for the World Cup uh Argentina are definitely favored to get pretty deep into it because we still we do have a really good team like on paper we have a really really good team and Spain and Spain obviously they do as well so um depending on how we do against Spain and that F my fin I think like if if we can give them a really good game I think that we can make it pretty far into the World Cup um best two teams right now we 100% Messi will will face off against yamal for the probably the first time right I made a short about that I'll probably link it I'll probably link the short to uh in the chat or I'll probably try to link it to this to this live stream somehow but yeah I made a short about it it's going to be really really really interesting I say that's the best in the world of all history I think I 100% like I 100% agree this is like one of the best national teams that we've seen in history um oh good afternoon oh my God Del Mor I'm so sorry did I completely skip over that that comment I'm so so sorry I went on like a a yapping session there EJ Torres says do you think Messi makes it do I think Messi makes it dude I'm going to be honest man like cuz I've been going back and forth cuz you have to think of his situation within Miami is he going to be playing with inter Miami uh if he doesn't play with in Miami does he still get called up like does he still train with the national team and and still play like a leadership role I think that he'll probably be called up honestly I hope I hope he gets called up like I I I don't know man honestly I don't know I would want him to get called up maybe just just to play more of a leadership role uh to kind of just be there as like a presence to be their Captain I think like the the players to really have a lot of motivation If Messi is there either as on the bench either as a player or as a coach the thing is that if Messi If Messi is called up who do we drop like I feel like somebody I feel like we would have to drop somebody important like I feel like we can call somebody like dybala like we can call dybala for the for the World Cup um but if we call Messi we're not going to be able to call dybala and dybala could be could be a pretty good player for us um it honestly kind of just depends on his form I mean like hopefully if Messi can stay healthy he could stay fit then I think that playing in the World Cup is not like completely out of reach but we'll have to see I mean I'm hoping that he can participate in some way and whatever role that is um but I mean I think that he'll probably make the falima I think that he could probably participate in the falima but as of the World Cup we don't know I I really hope he participates in some way maybe that's a good buy game maybe honestly he probably his his retirement from the national team honestly could have been after this goopa Meda like he could have just been like yeah no I've done I world I won two goopa medas I won the World Cup like my job with the national team is done um that he could have ended it there uh it if that was me he could really end it on an all-time high but I think the fact that he really wants to kind of push for this 2026 World Cup and be there for his national team I think says a lot he'll probably play he probably won't play the full 90 minutes I think him coming off the bench or um him coming off the bench would still be as impactful so I don't know we'll just have to see I like I said I hope he does I hope he really I hope he gets called up and play and plays uh and plays a crucial role for this international team but yeah guys um last but not least before we wrap the stream up let's let's say a predicted a predicted score for tonight's uh game or it's not even tonight it's the game's at 4:30 uh a predicted score for tonight for today's game against Colombia Colombia's hosting it's ambar angia the Sun the heat is going to play uh is going to probably be against us but hopefully we can power through it um we're in good form coming off that 3 nothing win against Chile Colombia are coming off a shaky game against Peru they're going to want revenge over the cup America final they're going to want to play better since the Peru game honestly if I was Colombia I would take a draw if I was Colombia I would take a draw against the against Argentina if I was Argentina I would want to win every single game we play so I'm I'm rooting for an Argentina win I would say a 2-1 win sounds um sounds re reasonable two World Cups would be un two World Cups dude If Messi wins two World Cups I don't even know what I would do man if Messi wins two World Cups I would go absolutely insane like that's just absolutely insane um and obviously you have other players like there's other players like um who was it B I think he won like three or something I don't even know but there's other players that I think have won multiple World Cups and um but I don't know Messi just is just going to go down as as the best in history better than marona better than any other Nation than argentinan player better than any other player that we'll probably see in football history um the only probably person that could beat Messi like if Messi were to win two cups the only other players that could probably beat that would be any French player and any Spanish player right now cuz mbappe could probably win a second world cup with France and then maybe even lamin could win a World Cup or like uh or just any any on that Spanish team could win like two World Cups easily but EJ seeing a 3-1 win for Argentina I think that's a really really easy or a really fair result I think um I think 31 win is good I think I think Colombia is going to boun is bound to score at some point they're going to play all their starters gracias mataro Muchachos yes I'm really hoping for the Argentine win but yeah 31 I'm going to go with EJ on the 3-1 win we'll I'll stick with EJ on that 3-1 win for Argentina hopefully we can do well hopefully we can perform and everybody stays fit and healthy but thank you guys so much for being a part of this live stream here in the seele
