Madden 24 Kirk Cousins Falcons vs Desmond Ridder Cardinals (2025 Updated Roster) 2024 Sim Game Play

[Applause] [Music] [Applause] it's the National Football League on EA Sports and we'll see who rules the skies in today's battle it's the cards in the [Applause] dirt the veteran punter Bradley pinion has this one teed up and we are underway from [Applause] Atlanta and he won't quite make it to the 25 so out come the Cardinals now for their opening drive and a glance here at the vet he's got a lot of years under his belt in the National Football League we're seeing it more and more in this league how teams love to have athletes back taking the snaps guys who can throw it and move around and get yardage with their legs if needed he's one of the best examples that we see out there right now he can throw for hundreds of yards one week and then run for 100 plus the next he add an extra Dimension that really confounds defenses when he puts it all together nine yds is the pickup there and they'll have a second and one you often say that sort of opens the Playbook now second and short what do you think early shot here I like where you're going obviously we've been together for a while cuz you know know me I want to take that shot early and loosen things up Ritter with it after the play fake that's complete to Michael Wilson and he'll be taken down but not before they work it across Midfield that one a gain of 20 and a first down second and short that's a run down so it's definitely a good time to go play action if you're feeling it and they do so and pick up a first down from Falcon territory now here's first and 10 at the 47 Ritter to throw it throwing right and that's complete and they're able to work this to the 25 before it's all said and done a good pickup there of [Applause] 22 now Ritter to throw on first down a short one here caught by McBride this will be a short gain of three before he's brought down at the 22 22 yd second and [Applause] seven there they'll look to throw again his throw caught right around the six and able to get him down but he does reach the five that one good for 17 yds and now they've got it first and goal a lot of precision being shown on this opening drive they've been methodical they've been Crisp And as a reward they're going to be set up with an early first and goal they'll run here with Conor and he's going to get about three yds closer he's down to about the two this offense has a lot of weapons but you know they like to look Conor's way down here near the end zone he's got that rugged running style and that's a nice job there to hold him to a short pickup from the two now second and [Applause] goal Carter straight ahead and I think they stopped him again they did at the one yd line no gain on the play there they're going to need to come up with something better here on Third and goal two straight shots on the ground now on third do you go to the air I think the possibility exists and if you're doing it you're probably going play action since you ran it twice but I often think that second down is the time you go play action throw the ball he's got his man it's caught in the end zone touchdown Arizona Michael Wilson a 2yd touchdown grab and the Cardinals are on the board first here this afternoon I do believe we came here to see a game didn't we and it looks like he's running what we call routes versus Air you just go out there with your offensive unit and throw the football with no defense he's five for five on the opening drive he was on his game there for Drive number one but my only thing is now he can't go any higher than that he was so perfect could he do it again later yeah all he's cares about right now is making it 10 for 10 15 for 15 and he feel feels like he can get it [Applause] done after the touchdown out is Prader to kick fighting through at the 25 up to Midfield Ray Ray McLoud touchdown Falcons that kick return TD is 98 yds in length and the Falcons are an extra point away from evening this one [Applause] up well there you go they gave up a score to start the game and it's as quick as they could get it back they did on the return and people talk about this all the time whether you're coaching it whether you're trying to work on it whether you're just trying to put in the minds of your players attack back as fast as you can after giving up a score no quicker way than on a kick return extra point by coup up and good and we are tied at seven well we talk a lot about explosive plays on offense how about an explosive play on special teams certainly one there on the kick return for a touchdown so all even it at seven now as they kick it away DJ Dallas to return it from his end zone and he had no room to run as he's tackled down inside the 20 so the Cardinals offense back onto the field here for their second Drive of the [Applause] game on first down Ritter taken in by Pascal out left and he'll be taken down but not before he gets this football out shy of the 30 to the 29 as long as you go through your proper reads and progressions the drag route can be one of those Old Reliable plays because usually it's good for a good chunk of yardage as we just saw there and those guys like it right they can get the ball with a full head of steam especially against man coverage cuz man coverage are typically running away from someone and not worried about traffic coming out on the other and that's caught inside the 35 a huge play there for Arizona 41 yds well partner I'm not sure how this drive is going to end but how about the way they flip field position there a nice attacking play they picked up a heck of a chunk of [Applause] yardage so the big play has them all the way down to the 30 now for first and 10 riter will set up to throw it a short one here caught by McBride this will be stopped about two yd shy of The Marker 8 yd gain second and two let's just break this down and make it pretty simple key to the drag route letting the play develop finding the hole in the defense and giving your athlete yes athlete a chance to make something happen once he has the ball in his hands second down throw coming for Ritter now a quick throw there but it's going to be incomplete James Conor the running back his intended receiver and it's third down and [Applause] two another throw coming up here for Ritter pass taken in by his big tight end and he is going to have a Cardinals first down as this defense unable to hold it's a seven yd gain there on Third and two they've been moving the ball well but this drive was in danger of stalling out fortunately this is a nice throw here and they're able to pick up a new set of [Applause] downs running left on the handoff [Applause] cter and he'll take this one in for the Arizona touchdown Michael Carter a 15yd touchdown run and the Cardinals have taken the lead that almost looked too easy and I think thanks goes to the offensive line for making it look easy yeah I agree with you totally on that one I'm not sure how much everyone understands the preparations that go into a game for an offensive line because there's a reason that running backs and quarterbacks give them big gifts at the end of a season after a big year here the consistency and the continuity it takes to know each other and execute their blocks is pretty [Applause] [Applause] impressive after the touchdown out is Prader to [Applause] kick McLoud now on the return and he'll be brought down right on the chalk of the 20 so here come the Falcons now to get the football for the first time leading them out as their 6-2 quarterback who was a fourth round pick back in 2012 Kirk Cousins if you ask coaches at any level to design their ideal leader of a team I think they're going to check every box with this guy he's got the Poise to handle responsibility he stays calm under any kind of pressure and he brings out the best of his teammates each and every week they run on first down as they're able to get this forward for about four Brandon we just saw the benefits of being able to run the ball successfully they pick up four yards on that carry so now if you're a play caller you can do just about anything you want but on the defensive side of the ball you're scrambled a little bit now you're behind trying to figure out do I need to Blitz him do I need to pressure him how do I gain an advantage on this snap cousins throw into the hands of pits here give him a gain of five on the completion and that will bring up third and one they really love to get him into one-on-one opportunities and this is one way work him out of the slot and create a mismatch who's going to cover him Corner safety linebacker he's got a way to beat all of those positions on third down Robinson and they get him down but not before he takes it across the 40 yd line it's a gain of 13 and a first down for Atlanta the way this game is going the way that they possess the ball on the other side of the field you go three and out here you might not see the ball again till the second [Applause] quarter cousins now to throw on first down short throw caught by Pitts and he'll be out of bounds up near the 45 at the 44 so just three yards on the completion there and that'll make it second down well that's always a good place to throw it just because he's one of the big biggest targets not only on this team but in the National Football League and you and I both know the quarterbacks love these large body tight ends and why not nowadays they're really wide receivers who are just taller and have a little bit more weight these guys catch the football make big plays down field in the old days we wanted them to block now coaches want him to catch the football first back now in Atlanta second quarter action the Falcons with the football as they've got it second and seven and they'll get him down as he's inside the 40 first Target First Catch and a first down now that was pretty they executed that curl route versus Zone coverage and that changes things a little bit because against man it's often a tight curl tight sharply Run route again Zone you're just looking for that open spot that dead area so you may curled a little bit wider just to get to that place and usually a tight window he fired a bullet in there for the completion that's complete to Mooney and and he gets this one inside the 15 just a yard or two shy of the 10 a very solid gain of 27 well we know he's got the speed there he needed the speed and the hands a great catch and because of that speed you have to respect it as a Defender so you have to either play off or make sure you're somehow in contact with him and he's able to do exactly what you said use the speed to his advantage and go up and get the football that's a big time play right there there start so they'll go ahead and accept the penalty the full start backs him up five first and 15 cousins again and this will be incomplete physical play on the football there and it's second down that's an excellent play by the defender he diagnosed that one Clos quickly and help Force the incompletion behind the sticks here with a second and [Applause] 15 a give left side to Robinson he will push his way down to about the 14 a minimal gain there on the eighth play of the drive in order to play really good run defense when you're playing a 3 four those three guys up front the nose tackle and the guys they call the defensive ends they're usually big big people cuz they're going to have to eat up a lot of blockers cuz it's usually five on three and when they do their job well guys who play on the inside those inside linebackers they able just Roam and hit now throwing on third down there but he cannot connect I think we'll see more of them trying to get him the football out of the back field they love what he can do in open space and they believe that he creates mismatches they can exploit fourth down and the attention turns to Falcon kicker young way coup from the left Hash a 3 Oney attempt coup knocks this one through the post and they'll cut the lead back down to four now at 1410 well on a close game like this obviously you want the touchdown but certainly they will take the three and they'll be okay with that but let's throw a little credit to the defense as well and I'm just glad this doesn't come down to a debate right which side won partner because the defense hey we didn't give up a touchdown the offense hey we put three on the board either way you look at it I think both sides gained something out of that drive [Applause] he [Applause] ridiculous the punter pinion now to kick this one away and a nice return turn sets him up pretty good here right at the 30yd line here's the Arizona offense now as they get set to take over and right now they're saying hey let's keep this going two drives two touchdowns yeah can't ask for a better start than that can you I mean this is the way you practice it this is the way you rehearse it but right now the play calling they're locked in really well the drive will start with Conor give him five on the carry there and it'll be second down if you're a coach you'll absolutely take that run every time on first down because it really set you up to go in a number of directions here on second from the 34 yd line here's second and five Ritter back to throw throwing for the out route he finds Wilson and he'll go out of bounds it appears right at the 45 they picked up five yds last time now they double it and get 10 here what I love about watching the passing game nowadays is that the onedimensional receiver is really starting to leave the game you've got to be able to do it all of course you got to run fast of course you got to catch the ball but route running Savvy and toughness there's a premium for all of that now and now a throw on first down there but it's incomplete I think he could have Scan downfield forever but there wasn't anything available ends up throwing an incompletion and I think he'll take [Applause] that an incomplete pass on first down that leads to a second and [Applause] 10 back to throw Ritter and the Falcons get there the Falcons get the sack down he goes the defense rising to the challenge and setting him back on the sack well they've been fighting and scratching and clawing for that first sack in the game and it turns out to be a big one not just a short one right there behind the line first one they get 10 plus yards and a guy who has the legs to escape most of [Applause] these here is third and quite a ways looking to throw it here Ritter and pressure coming and they got him once again multiple Defenders getting to him there for a huge loss okay I'm not sure you could actually draw a better pass rush than that one right there nowhere to go outside he had to keep backing up and backing up and backing up eventually dropped for a huge [Applause] loss Blake gillin on the punt now on fourth down back deep Ray Ray [Applause] McLoud and a fair catch taken back near about the 35 36 ydd line so possession goes over here on the punt and the Falcons will be taking over first and 10 working out of the gun cousins and complete to Drake London and he'll have it past Midfield almost to the 40 before being taken down 23 yds the final tally certainly no settling into the drive there they came right right out on the first play and attack the middle of the field for a big Gainer and a first down and right side they're going to go option here and this time not quite to the 30 it'll be down at the 31 yd line give him 10 yds on the keeper it'll lead to a second [Applause] down from the shotgun it's cousins throw left side there's London they'll get three as the drive continues it's a first [Applause] down playaction now cousins oh this one incomplete the pressure got to him as he released it and it's second down and that's the knowledge you gained from being in this league for a long time he's learned the hard way when to give up and fight another down and that's a smart move to throw it away here's second and 10 they'll run this one right with Robinson oh he shifts past him and he'll take this down just shy of the 25 yd line they do get a couple but they'll be left staring at a third and eight coming up partner how he managed to get positive yardage out of that run I have no idea but a little juking a little moving got it done got him two yards they'll be in search of eight yards here as they hope to convert the first down on third down cousins that ball is caught it's London for the Atlanta touchdown a great effort there 26 yards and the Falcons have taken the lead and they use that height on the outside to get the score we've seen the evolution of the wide receivers they've gotten taller and taller but they've retained their quickness and their speed it's a lethal combination always good to have wide receivers with height now young wayu for the extra point it's good and they'll take a 1714 lead so the drive there took six plays and it was finished off by a touchdown catch from Drake [Applause] London [Applause] now pinion with a kickoff honors following the [Applause] touchdown Dallas now to return it from his end zone and only able to get this to the 19 so probably should have opted for the Touchback the football going back over to Arizona now as we eat closer and closer to intermission Charles remember last time out they punted they would love to get points here especially if this is going to be their final possession of the first half yeah and this is what close games feel like because the pressure is on both sides but sometimes the pressure is a little bit higher on the team with the slight Edge because they're trying to hold on to that trying to increase it let's see how this one continues go two minutes remaining in this first half of football from the 20 here's the second and nine draw play Carter and they see right through that defensively as he'll be hit and taken down in the back [Applause] field third down and 10 Conor up the middle and he's going to be taken down here still a couple yards short of the first the Falcons going to use the second of their timeouts so that means they're down to one remaining here as we head toward halftime [Applause] here's Blake gilin now first kick 47 this one looks good as well and no return on this one as the fair catch is signal for and taken a 40y punt no return and it will be Falcon football cousins on first down this pass is caught by London and he'll be taken down but not before they work it across Midfield a well executed 22 yd gain that's a nice throw there and he's obviously feeling pretty good cuz remember he had a touchdown pass on the last drive and here he comes out throwing again and they wind up getting good yardage and a first down right out of the gate on First and 10 cousins a quick throw there is incomplete he already came through for them on this drive no surprise that they were hoping he could do it again now a second and 10 play fake cousins he'll get this complete to Rond Del Moore and they're going to have another first down as the tackle made here at the Cardinals 25 yd line that one goes for 24 yds Charles to move the chains that time they had to complete it into double coverage and they got it done and it's never easy overcoming multiple Defenders but he sure made it looks simple found the right spot to exploit and won his one on two matchup meanwhile cousins throw taken in by London and he is out of bounds looks like right at the 15 and that's good for a pickup of 10 yds and they'll be left with a second and about a foot y cousins that's out wide here for Robinson and they'll bring him down at the 13 yd line two yds good enough for a first but they've certainly done a nice job spreading the ball around on this drive this time he gets it out to his back and it's another nice play and another first down they've got the defense on their heels a little bit they're reacting instead of being aggressive and making plays got this complete to the tight end pits and he's going to get a solid gain of nine before being brought down second and right at the yard and with Just 4 seconds left in this first half a timeout [Applause] call so with four seconds to go in the half here's the field goal unit onto the field from the right hash and this one just a chippy C knocks this one through the post so a long drive gets him down inside the five but ultimately they settle for just a field goal and I have to think that if maybe they were a yard closer that would have made their decision tougher and I think they likely would have gone for it but in this situation they just decided to take the three and I think it was a smart [Applause] move so barring a Touchback this likely the Final Act of the half as the kick is away oh a good looking return setup [Applause] here so we are at halime here in Atlanta with a Falcons out in front as and now due to a parent time constraints we fast forward to the beginning of the second half and we welcome you back now alongside Charles Davis I'm Brandon Gard getting set for quarter number three [Applause] here the Falcons back to receive they've got the lead and they'll get this football as the second half gets underway and he's up past the 20 to the 22 yd line so we get set to start this third quarter here's the Falcons offense now this offense set to begin the third quarter and Charles if they had a checklist of things they wanted to accomplish in the first half certainly at the top of that list would be having the lead and they've got that here that's always the most important box to check isn't it but also they've had some success in their passing game so probably an empty box establishing the Run they're on Pace for fewer than 100 yards in this one so now they want to make sure that they get that going so they truly have a control in this ball game and down the stretch being able to be back balanced either throw it or run it and try and win this ball game a second down throw for cousins and it's incomplete took a shot couldn't connect well so far in this drive they've done some good work they forc incompletions on first and second down bring up third and 10 that brings up the big question do they bring pressure or do they play coverage on this down now they face a third and 10 after back-to- back incompletions cousins he's got his Target that's complete down the left sideline and he's going to be pushed out of bounds inside the 10 yd line they're able to convert on third down and that sets up a first and goal oh my goodness I'll tell you what third down all you're thinking is what can we do to keep this drive going to get enough yardage to move the sticks you're certainly not thinking about taking this one almost the length of the field but that's exactly what happens here what a play and what a change of Fortunes now cousins here on the boot leg throwing quickly there but it's [Applause] incomplete they come up here with another shot from the 6yd line and it's second and goal now they'll throw again cousins to the end zone but it's incomplete you got to be precise with your throws especially in this situation you're inside the 10 yd line going into the end zone but sometimes the emotion the excitement sometimes the decisions just aren't made very well because of that big play coming here it's third and goal here's [Applause] cousins throw left side complete that's Robinson and he'll get this down inside the five to the four before he's out of bounds three yds all they could muster there and it'll bring up fourth down we can make this one pretty simple locked up all of his progressions downfield forced to get it to his running back but how about the way they ran to the football ball and knocked him down to force a fourth down C knocks this one through the post and that will make this a nine-point lead well looking at it from a defensive perspective that keeps the deficit very very manageable you know all things considered not a bad job on the defensive side I would say that you pointed out something pretty good right there and that is you actually have both sides happy with that exchange you know happy in quotes of course one team hey we've kept kept it within range the other side saying hey we put points on the board and did stretch out the lead let's see how this one turns out yeah still bottom line though three points for the opening drive of the third quarter the punter pinion now to kick this one [Applause] away Dallas now to return it from his end zone and he's only going to make it to the 13 yard line and no further the Cardinals offense now ready to get their first opportunity here in the second half half and their deficit a little wider now than it was at halftime following the field goal a moment ago but the goal is still the same because you know they want to come out establish a rhythm in the second half and get going make no mistake about it though kicking field goals not in their game plan they need to get a ball in the end [Applause] zone Ritter now a short one here caught by McBride and he'll be taken down at the 20 after a gain of just one this offense in desperate need of a conversion as they come up on third down Ritter will set up to throw it and that's going to be incomplete the contact there enough to jar that ball free and it brings up fourth down that's an excellent job right there on third down like any defense you never want to let them get anything started and that would have been a first down instead you saw the contact on time no penalty and before this drive could get wings it's fourth down and on fourth down on is the punt team sending this one away fair catch taken just inside the 40 yd line yeah call it 38 yds on the punt no return and it will be first and 10 as they take over we'll get another look at Drake London as this offense returns to the field seems like the measuring stick for a receiver for a great game is 100 yards well he's well past that now and as we analyze how he's getting him that's where it really becomes fun because let's face it they keep sending coverage at him keep trying to put the pressure on yet he finds ways downfield and finds openings that's a really crafty receiver here's second and three Robinson on a give right side and he'll be brought down just shy of Midfield at the 49 yd line four yds the pickup first down in the first half he was held in check on the ground but despite that lack of production they still have the lead yeah they've got to feel fortunate about that if they could actually get production from their lead horse that would help open up this offense and widen this margin too a first down throw for cousins short throw caught by Pitts that'll go for a gain of seven and that'll bring up second down when you execute a drag or a Crossing route really well and give them a chance to let it develop a little bit you can gain some significant yardage hitting your tight end on that one from the 43 it's second and three on play action cousins over the middle and into the hands of his receiver Mo and they're going to have another first down as the tackle made here at the Cardinals 18 a really nice gain of 25 [Applause] yds so from inside the 20 here's first and 10 at the 18 from the red zone now cousins down inside the 10 and finally wrestled down at the 8 yd line and that's good for a pickup of 10 yds and that'll leave him with a second and just a few inches left he's having a big game through the air and sometimes those smart decisions just dump it off that's how you continue to have big games through the air I agree totally that's that's a great analogy a great way to put it because he doesn't get too greedy where everything has to be pushed down field trying to create big plays that aren't there you touchdown Kyle Pitts from 8 yards out as his guys are able to extend their lead the big fell was the recipient there for that touchdown pass and it seems like more and more the tight end is the guy you have to worry about most in the passing game [Applause] [Applause] now Arthur Smith going to tell the offense to stay put we're going for two cousins will try and throw and he will get into the end zone to bump the lead up to three scores so they go with a pass there on the two-point try and able to convert it Charles and a good job by the offense figuring out their two-point play and using it well it's interesting how people are using the strategy nowadays though isn't it it really is and I don't know how much that one that particular play factored in but with the pat moving back in 1516 that kind of changed things didn't it it's really a part of everyone's strategy now when I talk with coaches and when we sit with them they always talk about they actually have two-point periods in practice now something they never really did before and following the touchdown now it's Bradley pinion on to kick this one away and not much happening on the return as he'll get this to about the 23 Arizona getting ready to go as they take the field I kind of feel like they've reached a Do or Die point in this game Charles if they're going to try to pull off an impressive comeback it has to start right here right now yeah now they've got a final chance to get out of this situation but they also understand they've got to move the ball and move it fast in addition they need to save as much time so they can get two more possessions from the 29 here's second and four Ritter a short one here caught by McBride fifth catch of the afternoon and that gives him a first down fifth catch of the game for him there yeah in the tight end position is now becoming a volume pass catch used to be occasional right safety valve throw one to him every so often but mainly they want him out there block nowadays an integral part of the passing game and they create such great mismatches that they often become the leading receiver meanwhile Ritter's throw complete to McBride and he'll have it past Midfield almost to the 40 before being taken down back-to- back receptions for him and it's another first down well we talk all the time about playing situational football right now I think the scoreboard is dictating what they need to do where they are in this game they've got to push the ball down field take their shots try and get big chunks of yardage in a short amount of time that was a nice play there from Falcon territory now here's first and 10 at the 42 yd line and we've got Movement by one of the big boys up front for Arizona flag comes in and they'll accept that penalty a full start backs him up five first and 15 Ritter back to throw a short one here caught by McBride the result only four yds there on the play and it'll be second down from the gun a give to Conor give him two on that run and they're still left looking at a third and about nine to [Applause] go they'll come to the line here needing nine yards to pick up the first Ritter throwing on third [Applause] down he rifles one and that's going to be intercepted and the Falcons are going to take over once again at their own 37 yd line well look we're watching a quarterback here that's obviously been around for a long time that's a throw he wishes he had back he certainly does but as you well know this is a guy that's used to taking a few chances used to fitting it into Tight Windows these are throws that he's made before didn't happen to get it completed in this case very good starting field position for the Falcons offense as they come up first and 10 at their own 37 following the interception cousins and this winds up a gain of four to the 41 good throw good catch but I really like the route the drag and being able to run away from Defenders hard to stick with them for that long yeah better against man than zone or better against man because now you're running away from someone and you're not running into a defensive player in another Zone and as they come to the line they will not be able to get off another play as time has run out on this third quarter you are watching the NFL on EA Sports from the 41 here's second and six back now here on EA Sports It's the Falcons they've got the football they've got the lead as we get set to start the fourth and he'll be pretty well stopped in his tracks give him a yard up to the 42 Brandon I've got to think this offensive line has got some Smiles on its faces and and I know it sounds crazy but they practice for this back in training camp they knew they'd be in situations where it'd be extra defenders in the Box coming after them trying to keep them from locking down a game right now they want to show the world they're up to the challenge got London on the slant and a pretty nice tackle there ranging up from his free safety spot as he'll stop him about a yard short it'll be a gain of five and that's going to bring up a fourth down so much about offense is what you call Hidden yardage you know you you throw the ball to someone they catch C it and then they could make a big play you know they create a play run after catch they did a really nice job there of limiting that and keeping them from a first down now stopped him in his tracks they'll call that a 33 yd punt with no return and out will come the offense as they take over Arizona's offense back out and ready to go not an ideal way to end their previous drive they threw the interception Charles after they had built up some momentum they were moving the football but something to at least build on for this off as they run back out here yeah you're right about that up until that last play everything was working pretty well for this offense gaining chunks of yardage getting first downs really making a push for the end zone and looked like they had a nice rhythm going now you got to have a short memory here don't focus on the interception focus on what came before it and get back to it second down throw coming for Ritter throwing quickly to Wilson quick slant there gets him the first down six yds on the play the start for them near Flawless defense gets him a three and out two Quick Pass connections on offense so that's how a team works together just what you described get them the ball give them a little momentum and they're capitalizing off of that thanks a lot guys so signs of life and what's been a dormant offense in this second half here's first and 10 a Ritter's throw taken in by Pascal and he gets this up across the 35 before he's out of bounds so the completion good for six yards and that's going to bring up second down stick it with a passing game here's Ritter again and that one to the right side and [Applause] incomplete [Applause] [Music] this offense so far on third down they've converted just two for six thus far this is third and four looking to throw it here Ritter oh he had him he was open but he couldn't get it to him it's incomplete well the other day they told us when we've got third and five or less we have to be able to convert and I guess every team would say that Charles but an opportunity missed there what they were trying to tell us as they believe it's a matchup game at that point and they liked some matchups that they had thought they could exploit them unable to do so on that play fourth down big Play here's Ritter taken in by Pascal out left and he is going to have the Cardinals first down it would appear and yes the chain game going to move the sticks they take a risk on Fourth and four but they get it by a full yard another throw coming up here for Ritter that pass completed to dorge call it a gain of three on the play and that will bring up second down you got the big lead defensively willing to give him that underneath stuff right and this is why you work on your tackling tackle them after the catch inbounds keep the clock running just go ahead and bleed the game out that way rder to throw it a short one here caught by McBride a one yd gain there following the three- yd pickup on first [Applause] down and they'll be in search of six yards here on third down this is now the ninth play of the drive here's Ritter able to find the open man that's complete and he is going to have a Cardinals first down as they're able to get the third down conversion and just in general Charles on a play like that how tough is it for the defense to account for a running back essentially being a receiver down field it's very difficult especially if the running back has skills like a receiver and you're aware of that before the game even begins so throughout your practice sessions you're going to want to be aware of him where is he lining up what can he do what kind of damage can he do to us downfield and who can match up with him without weakening our overall defense you're exactly right it's a tough task to match up to him and quickly they get to the line back to throw Ritter out to the right here to Wilson it'll be a pickup of four good enough to earn him yet another first down first down [Applause] Arizona on play action here's [Applause] Ritter and that is incomplete he couldn't hold on through the contact brings up second down even without a ton of pressure in his face it just shows how difficult it is to pick apart his own defense those guys are sitting back and they're not playing receivers as much as they're playing the eyes of the quarterback and when he delivers the ball so after the incompletion on first now second and 10 they'll stick with the passing game as he looks to [Applause] throw it's just a gain of a couple there on the scramble and now it's third down [Applause] and they're going to hurry back to the line now Ritter with it after the play fake ah he had a man open but he missed him and it's incomplete well how about the coverage we just saw break out on third down dime defense blanketed the field with extra defensive backs and speed unable to find an open hole to complete that pass all right they're going to try and keep hope alive here on fourth down they're going for it as expected they're going for it to keep the drive alive oh it's intercepted a drive killer there and the Falcons are going to get the ball back on the turnover as they hold on fourth down well I guess an interception at this point on fourth down is just as bad as an incomplete pass either way the ball goes over to the other side yeah it's a tough spot to be in this late in the game and there's not a whole lot he could do there and he winds up giving the ball away the Falcons back out getting set for this next drive and after the interception they are sitting in an even better spot with the ball and a comfortable fourth quarter lead they begin the drive with r Robinson credit him with a one yd gain there to make it second and nine the fourth quarter here they've got the lead they want to keep it on the ground that's what they're doing smart football keep the clock grinding keep it going but you got to figure now they're going to see more people stacked up in the line of scrimmage as they try and Bleed It Out two minutes left to play in this football game here on EA Sports so it's Falcon football as we welcome you back now second and nine and no what they're looking to do is just salt away the final couple of minutes and escape with a win on second down here's a keeper by the QB and maybe the wrong read there as he's going to go down immediately it's a loss of a yard so it's back to Third and 10 and on this play the read for the quarterback was the defensive end and he was totally focused on the quarterback he should have given it off inside to the running back instead he kept it and ended up taking a loss on the play on the counter this is Robinson and that's not going to get it done he'll come up well short of the first at about the 21 three yds won't be enough here as that'll bring up fourth down we often talk of situational Football let's just call it team football the defense did their job got off the field brought up a puning situation so they're turning the ball back over to their offense you think those guys will get along very well right now of course they will defense help the offense not it's their turn to take it down field the punt team on now as pinion sends this one away and a fair catch called for and made just inside the 35 yd line so a change of possession here on the punt and they will take over first and 10 they go back to the air here after the int on the last Drive finds his running back James Conor the Cardinals going to use the first of their timeouts as they stop it with 28 seconds to go in this football game second down at four Ritter now he'll drop that down to Carter underneath now the cards going to call another timeout their second that'll leave them with just one remaining in this fourth quarter of [Applause] play let Focus we now Ritter to throw on first down that is incomplete that's coverage you'd expect to see in a tie game late not in the lopsided game like this they are not letting up so now second and 10 after the incompletion on first down looking to throw once more four here's Ritter to the sideline and incomplete this has obviously been a bad loss but one of the few things they can still do is try and throw the ball all the way to the end zone and get some points on the board so they're not shut out over the final two quarters of this game so backto back incompletions and that has him staring at a third and 10 Ritter will set up to throw it and he's going to be intercepted a third time picked off by Jesse Bates and the Falcons will have the football as this is taken up past the 30 this spot in the fourth quarter with that deficit had to throw the football unfortunately there's the risk a big turnover and you know you're going to be throwing against Nickel Dime all sorts of exotic defenses but you have to do it anyway ordinarily you might want run the football a little bit try and get them out of it but as you noted this time of the game this point on the clock had had to throw it the D can only stop it one more time as they take the [Applause] knee so time runs out it's a victory for the Atlanta Falcons and you know it wasn't a shut out they did give up the points in the first quarter but second third and fourth quarter they held him scoreless Brandon if you throw a shutout for quarters two three and four you going WI a lot of games in this league and this felt a lot like almost like if you say baseball and the Pitcher goes through the line up the first time and the hitters get to see him and then they come out after that and the bats start blazing right I think they saw their best stuff in the first quarter and just shut everything down from that point on what a great convincing performance so that's a wrap for Charles Davis I'm Brandon G and this has been a presentation of the NFL on EA Sports for more check us out at EA sports.com it's a win for the Falcons here as we say so long from Atlanta e
