Kathy Bates is ready for retirement but not without putting in one last performance on the small screen she's the star of the upcoming Matlock series reboot at CBS but once the show ends fans will never see her in another acting role again for the New York Times Bates confirmed her plans to retire once the new lock ends its run she explained how she was planning to retire before the role had even been presented after an unnamed movie she was working on sour how she felt about the current state of Show Business it even got to the point where she told her agents she was retiring a few weeks after this call bat's agent still sent her the script for the Matlock reboot and it intrigued her enough to take on the project for her final role everything I've prayed for worked four claw my way up four I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it bat said explaining how the role will allow her to go out in a big Way by showcasing all of her abilities and it's exhausting this is my last dance the new Matlock is a reimagined version of the original TV series of the same name starring Andy Griffith as Ben Matlock in the reboot Bates played mateline Mattie Matlock putting a spin on the story by following an older woman as the brilliant attorney showrunner Jenny Snyder man developed the series this way in part to explore how older woman can often be underestimated and it was a concept that appealed to Bates as Bates mdy says in the pilot episode there's this funny thing that happens when women age we become damn near invisible it's useful because nobody sees us coming man further teases about the character it's like underestimate at your own Peril Kathy Bates relates to the Matlock character when she gets a script and she reads through it you will see her challenge the directors challenge the writers in a very healthy way Sky P Marshall one of bat's co-stars in the new series also said about the Hollywood Legends work ethic she is an all-around beautiful Warrior who is so intuitive so intelligent and unwilling to tolerate any Injustice for anyone Bates has long been a revered acting star with her accomplishments including an Oscar win for the acclaimed Stephen King adaptation misery she has garnered a claim on the small screen as well which includes prime time Emmy Award wins for her roles in Two and a Half Men and American Horror Story coven she was nominated for several other Emmys for other shows including 6 feet under Harry's Law and the AHS season's free show and hotel
