let's get into what we are going to discuss for today as my camera decides to act up on me so so we're going to start off the show we'll talk about last night's game between the 49ers and the Jets a lot to talk about there uh with Aaron Rogers making his return to the field and Christian mcaffrey also did not play in this game and it looked like he was going to play I was reading something that said he he was confident that he was going to play but ended up not playing and Jordan Mason got the start at running back so we'll talk about that then in the second part of the show we'll talk about the Dolphins Jaguars game we'll talk about the Tyreek Hill incident before the game I'll give you my thoughts on that then in the third part of the show we'll talk about Jim Harbaugh getting his first win as the Chargers head coach we'll talk about JK Dobbins performance as well in the fourth part of the show we'll get into talking about the Texans Colts game the performances by both CJ Stout and Anthony Richardson and then in the final part of the show we'll talk about the Giants we'll talk about their performance on Sunday I know I brought it up a little bit towards the end of the show yesterday but we'll go into more detail on that at the end of the show here and there's still more stuff to cover from week one that we'll get into tomorrow as well but that's what we got on tap for today so let's get into the first topic which is talking about the Jets 49ers game so of course I was locked into this game mainly because of Aaron roders and to see now obviously if this was any other game of course I'm going to be locked in but Aaron Rogers being back that is what I wanted to focus my attention on how was he going to perform and when we got the news about Christian mcaffrey being out for this game you know I was like okay you know that that really helps the Jets out a lot and this could definitely be a tight game and I thought it was going to be just because I I you know the Jets defense is very good and I thought they were G to at least keep the 49ers in check to an extent and even without mcaffrey that was not the case last night the 49ers dominated this game Jordan Mason dominated this game undrafted running back and was kind of like the third running back on the depth chart because you had a Elijah Mitchell but now he's out for the season so Jordan Mason got the start and he did not disappoint 28 carries 147 yards and a touchdown Debo Samuel also had a rushing touchdown in this game now Jordan Mason would have had two touchdowns in this game but I got called back and that's what led to the Debo Samuel rushing touchdown Brock pie was efficient you know didn't really do much didn't really have to do too much the 49ers just ran the ball down the Jets throat like I said said he went 19 to 29 for 231 yards no touchdowns no interceptions was sacked a couple of times jwan Jennings got banged up in this game but he still ended up being their leading receiver caught all of his targets five targets five receptions for 64 yards Debo Samuel five receptions for 54 yards George KD four for 40 Brandon iuk only had two for 28 dropped the touchdown pass uh from Brock pie and the 49ers only had one sack and that was by Leonard Floyd but like I said the offense really didn't have to you know Brock py didn't really have to be heroic because the running game was really working like I said I mean Jordan Mason props to him an unbelievable game and now let's get into the jet side of things so was Aaron Rogers great last night no he was not great but I thought he played better than the numbers were to indicate here so he finished the game going 13 of 21 167 yards one touchdown one interception that interception was not his fault that was deflected and picked off um you know the 49ers player on Garrett Wilson deflected it and it ended up getting picked off so I don't really blame Aaron roders for that and that was uh picked off by um by Flanigan fowls um on that and that was in that was in the second half and you know I mean it was a close I mean it was 16 to seven at the half but I thought so the first two drives of the game one of them was a punt the second one resulted in a fumble uh Rogers was trying to avoid a sack and he and he flicked it to uh Bree Hall and Fred Warner made a great play on it he knocked the ball out 49ers recovered but the Jets defense held up that drive resulted in a field goal Jake Moody also had a great game as well but then the next drive this is the third Drive of the game for the Jets they went 12 plays 70 yards 7 Minutes of time of possession Rogers hit it I mean this is a play where you're like yeah Rogers just still got it he hit the back shoulder to Garrett Wilson for 16 yards on Third and eight another 14 yards to Garrett Wilson 13 to Bree hall and then you know a couple more passes to Garrett Wilson and then Bree Hall took it into into the End Zone from three yards out and the Jets were up 7 to3 and you thought all right here we go look at the Jets right now and then the 49ers they responded kicking a field goal so yeah it was seven to six after the first quarter but things kind of changed after that uh the Jets punted on their next two possessions the 49ers they got their first touchdown that was the Debo Samuel touchdown uh they ran it down their throat on that on that drive a lot of Jordan Mason and then the Jets punted and like I said it was 16 to7 at the half Jake Moody kicked another field goal 31 yards from 31 yards out 49ers opened up the second half with a touchdown drive that was 7 minutes and 18 seconds that made it 23-7 and then the interception happened then the 49ers kicked another field goal they went eight plays 26 yards on that you know following the interception and then the Jets ended up scoring it touchdown on their drive to make it 26-13 it was on a free play um Rogers hit Allan Lazard for 26 yards and then he got a free play that led to a touchdown by Alan Lazard from 36 yards out I'm surprised they didn't blow that play dead cuz Leonard Floyd was really off sides but they didn't blow it dead Rogers was able to cash in on that and that made it 26 to13 and then the ners again answered with another field goal um Ro Rogers did get taken out of the game towards the end Tyrod Taylor let a touchdown Drive I said the Jets would score 20 points they ended up scoring 19 but you know that that was in garbage time and the ners I said 24 it ended up being 32 so yeah I I mean overall it wasn't great for the Jets specifically for their defense that that's what really surprised me their defense did not play well in this game and also the 49ers dominated time of possession they had the ball for was 40 minutes 38 minutes and 40 seconds to the Jets 21 minutes and 20 seconds 49ers just dominated time in possession and they finished with 41 total yards to the Jets 266 so look I I really can't say that Aaron Rogers played bad in this game again was he great no but there were some things to like from Aaron Rogers and also the offensive line held up in this game which is huge especially going up against a pass rush like that you know he had his moments but still it wasn't great um and the Jets schedule does lighten up you know they're taking on the Titans next week and they're offense looked horrible although Tony Pard had a good game the Jets run defense has got to get their act together because that was horrendous um I mean again that could also just mean well you played the 49ers who are one of the best teams in the NFL so um you know you got the Titans you got the Patriots the Broncos there's winnable games coming up so I I understand they got dominated in this game but if you can win your next three you know all will be right in the world but I do have concerns with that defense because I I really don't know what to say also s Gardner got banged up in this game he was on the sidelines um you know on a play you know when he collided with uh not really collided but you know he was going after Debo Samuel and that's kind of what led to him being taken out of the game well yeah you could say collided whatever but he was out of the game and you know we're still waiting on what the deal is with Assan reic is he coming back what what like what what's going on um but it just it was a bad performance All Around by the defense and and and Rogers barely had the ball they really couldn't get into a rhythm because the 49ers just dominated time of possession in this game and it was impressive that they did that without Christian mcaffrey and Brandon and Brandon iuk didn't have a big game you know so the 49ers are going to be really good again this year which we all figured now I don't have them going to the Super Bowl I got the Lions but again I would not be surprised if this team makes it back because they're just that good and I would love to see those players win a championship because I've said it over and over again they deserve it but look the 49ers they did their thing they take on the Vikings next week the Jets take on the Titans but my biggest takeaway from this game is how bad the Jets defense looked because the reason why I have the Jets winning as many games as I have them winning along with uh you know winning the division is because of their defense and if their defense is going to play like that you know then it's it's going to be a rough one for the Jets but again it's against the 49ers so and I again I thought Aaron Rogers did okay he wasn't great but he still got some left in the tank and if the Jets could take that and the defense can maybe get better because it looked like they just were not prepared for this game you know what the Jets are going to be okay um now if this was against a much inferior opponent then yeah that you then you really could be you know ra waving some uh some red flags but again it's against the 49ers but it was without Christian mcaffry too like they made Jordan Mason look like this but you know it's the 49ers it's the 49ers but also it's it's Jordan Mason like if it was Christian mcaffrey like okay but it was against Jordan Mason so um and I that falls on the coach you know Robert Salah is a defensive guy and your defense did not play well last night so they got some things that they got to correct and hopefully they do that like I said playing the Titans whose offense was not great over the weekend so we'll see what happens but let me know what you guys think I mean I can talk about this game for a while but you know we got to move on here but yeah let me know what you guys think about this game what were your takeaways from it how do you think Rogers did what were your thoughts on Jordan Mason's performance last night so we're going to take our first break when we come back we'll talk about Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins we'll talk about the Dolphins Jaguars game as well as what when put down it in your place all this my town if I want that [ __ ] then I'll get it right now I'm losing it the news fit I'm losing [ __ ] a stupid myth you choose to live I choose to dip you choose to fight I lose your grip and lose a gift [Music] off Lord give me a a I feel [Music] I'm all right and we are back here on the gsmc football podcast and for the second part of the show we're now going to get into the Dolphins Jaguars game as well as what went on with Tyreek Hill before the game so I was at the Giant game of course and you know I I get off the you know the bus that we took to the game and all of a sudden I'm getting text messages saying that Tyreek Hill got arrested and I'm like what like what like what is going on here and you know then you know you hear more about it as things come out and I did bring it up yesterday and I think I said parking violation but that it it was a driving violation so he was caught speeding and he was pulled over by police and this was about one block from the stadium and you know they ask for his licensees information all that and then it kind of got you know escalated a little bit the situation where he got pulled out of his vehicle and he was put in handcuffs and you know reading some of the Articles so how it got escalated I guess is you know he was rolling up his he put up his window and they kept telling him to put it down and uh he was saying well he said don't tell me what to do um and they kept saying you got to keep your window down so I guess that's what led to him being taken out of the car and he was put in handcuffs now you know some of his teammates even saw what was going on and they were trying to you know tell them like hey like what's going on here and it just it was an ugly situation and the um the body cam footage of it was released as well um I mean I'm not going to go into everything with this but um the most important thing about this situation is that you get both sides of it um and that goes for a lot of things uh is getting both sides of the story now you're the unfortunate thing is for most of us is you're not going to get the full story unless you're actually at the situation if you're physically there so we're not going to get all the details but um the officer that was involved in this uh was um put on administrative Leaf I believe uh so but yeah we're going to find out more about this information as it comes out um but again you know it was it was an ugly I'm just going to say it was an ugly situation that that's really all I'm going to say about the matter cuz again you know it this this goes off topic about other things and and I but I did want to touch upon it just because it made news um you know and Tyreek Hill spoke about it his agent spoke about it um but yeah it it was uh it wasn't a great situation to to hear about before uh the game on Sunday and I'm just going to leave it at that but um yeah so that it was an eventful day for him uh but still played in the game still played in the game still got to the stadium and scored a big touchdown late in the game um because for a while there I mean the Jaguars were dominating this game um you know it looked like they were going to go in and and beat the Dolphins there but you know the Dolphins in the second half Tua in the second half uh really played well and the Dolphins were able to get the victory winning 20- 17 uh the Jaguars uh to kind of go through the game summary here so they scored a touchdown uh in the first quarter a six playay 96 yd Drive um down the field set up by a pass interference call on Brian Thomas Jr Travis etn scored a touchdown from one yard out so the Jags were up seven nothing uh the Dolphins a couple of times turned it over on Downs then they scored another touchdown the Jaguars they went eight plays 55 yards 5 and a half minutes of time of possession Trevor Lawrence hit Christian Kirk who hopefully you know stays healthy this year that's a big weapon for Trevor Lawrence on a 30- yard pass um and eventually they got down to the Dolphins 14 and on Third and 11 Trevor Lawrence hit Brian Thomas Jr from 14 yards out their rookie wide receiver and that made it 14 to nothing Jags the Dolphins did respond they scored a touchdown to make it 14 to7 uh Devon aan touchdown from one yard out the Jags responded with the a field goal so it was 17 to7 at the half Jags um then both teams exchanged punts twice to open up the third quarter and the Jags were driving a tank bsby opened up their drive with a 26 yd run Trevor Lawrence hit Gabe Davis for 22 yards hit etn for 12 yards and they were driving and it looked like you know they're going to punch it in here um and they would have but Travis etn ended up fumbling near the goal line the Dolphins recovered that and that was a momentum shifter because then literally the first play after that after that fumble uh two of hits Tyreek kill for 80 yards for a touchdown and that made it 17 to 14 then the Jags turned it over on Downs the Dolphins missed the field goal um they eventually tied the game at 17 and then uh they ended up kicking a field goal a game-winning field goal by Jason Sanders from 52 yards out Trevor Lawrence 12 of 21 for 162 yards one touchdown no interceptions um the Jags ran the ball for over 100 over 120 yards 128 yards and a touchdown Travis etn and a touchdown could have had two if he didn't fumble Gabe Davis was their leading receiver six receptions for 62 yards and then um for the Dolphins twoa had a great game 23 of 37 338 yards one touchdown no interceptions uh they only ran the ball for 81 yards a Chan had 24 yards on the ground moard only had nine uh and Jeff Wilson had 26 yards on the ground Tyreek Hill of course did his thing seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown the 80 yard touchdown like I mentioned Jaylen wad had five receptions for 109 yards had to leave the game uh he was dealing with or he was being evaluated for concussion um but yeah I mean it didn't look good for them for a while there I mean the offense looked sluggish but you know then they exploded in the second half and that's what this Dolphins offense can do um you know and twoa played really well and you know when we had that debate in the production meeting about Trevor Lawrence and Tua you know right now uh Advantage Tua cuz Tua did not play well or no Trevor Lawrence sorry did not play well in the second half I mean his overall numbers not impressive at all um you know 12 for 21 for 162 yards that is not going to do it and I know um one of our hosts was showing the numbers of Tua and Trevor Lawrence in the second half and I wanted to see if I could find because it was a tweet and I wanted to find I'm hoping I could find it um because it was very oh yep I got it right here so in the second half Trevor Lawrence went three of seven for 37 yards no touchdowns no interceptions and a passer rating of 59.8 Tua in the second half 12 of 15 for 206 yards one touchdown no interceptions and a passer rating of 141 basically it's 14.97 but we'll just round up um yeah not good by Trevor Lawrence and the Dolphins defense in this game uh that was one of the big things is the Dolphins defense how is it going to be in this game and they finished with three sacks on the day Kus Campbell had one Emanuel agba who they also brought back uh he had one and um and Jaylen Phillips uh came back a guy that got hurt last year and he's back so that's huge um so they had three intercept or three sacks on the day uh and two Force fumbles as well one of them was on etn of course Javon Holland was responsible for one and then Elijah Campbell was um the other uh who uh forced the fumble in this game so I mean you got to like how the Dolphins responded in the second I mean they shut out the Jaguars in the second half so I I mean just now if Travis TN doesn't fumble maybe we're having a different conversation but um yeah not a good start not a good start for the Jags not a good start for the Jags and especially with a team that you know I mean these are two teams I mean the Dolphins didn't really collapse like the Jaguars did I mean the Dolphins could have had a top two seed but they ended up not getting it but the Jaguars flat out collapsed last SE uh last season towards the end of the year they were eight and three and they collapsed and they did not get off to a good start um by losing this game so it's one game but you know some of the criticisms that Trevor Lawrence has been getting and especially with that new contract didn't look good didn't look good especially in that second half but it is just one game and then as for the Dolphins Dua played really well in the second half got to give him credit got to give him his flowers you know um now they take on the bills on Thursday and for the Jaguars they take on the Browns who were terrible on Sunday against the Cowboys so that should be an interesting game uh that game is at home for the Jags so we'll see what happens um a couple of uh injury news with the dolphins so uh Devon Anan and Raheem moard are both banged up so it's possible they both don't play on Thursday jayen Wright the rookie running back did not play in the game on Sunday but he could be a factor as well as Jeff Wilson so we'll keep an eye on that but Dolphins uh you know they they showed you you know something a little something in that second half to it showed you something so um you know we'll see if they can continue that momentum into Thursday when they take on Josh Allen and the bills I'll talk about them cuz I know I haven't done that but you know they were another team that was down and they came back so I'm going to get into that game uh tomorrow um but yeah uh you know props to the Dolphins for coming back but again I just to bring the conversation back to Tyreek Hill um you know he had he had an eventful day uh and um you know like I said spoke about it afterwards like I said he had his agent talking about the situation before the game Mike McDaniel talked about it the Dolphins even released a statement about it uh as well um but again it just wasn't what you wanted to hear before the games on Sunday and I'm just going to leave it at that but like I said I think it's very important to know both sides of the situation before jumping to conclusions that's the most important thing and that's been said across the board um you know um that that's that's really my my take on it you know I'm not going to go into the specifics but um I think it's very important to get the both the most important thing is getting both sides of the story and to try to get as much information as possible for before jumping to conclusions um but yeah I I I obviously I'm not going to get into more details about it but just to uh bring it up one more time but yeah let me know what you guys think though about the performance of Tua and Trevor Lawrence Chargers head coach as well as JK Dobbins performance as well now this game did get off to a slow start um the the Chargers ended up winning this game 22 to10 but but yeah not not high scoring um Chargers open up the scoring with a field goal Cameron Dicker from 53 yards out then this was really the Raiders only offense in the game I mean they did kick a field goal later but um Gardner muu threw a pass out to Alexander Madison he was able to break a tackle and score from 31 yards out uh so that made it 7 to3 Raiders but that was really good like I said other than the field goal late in the game to give them 10 points the Raiders offense just really could not get anything going um in the second quarter uh was pretty sluggish I mean both teams exchanged punts a couple of times the Raiders ended up fumbling um a sack fumble uh by Gardner menu Chargers turned that into a field goal it was seven to six at the half um Raiders punted the start the second half uh the Chargers their first drive they kicked the field goal C Dicker from 24 yards out then the Raiders fumbled again zamir white fumbled the Chargers punted then the Raiders missed a field goal and then the Chargers were able to cash in and uh get a touchdown their Drive lasted six plays 61 yards a little over two minutes of time possession Justin Herbert hit Hayden Hurst from 27 yards then Joshua Palmer for 11 Gus Edwards had a 10 yard run and then JK Dobbins his first rushing touchdown of the season from 12 yards out uh so that made it 16 to7 then the Raiders got a field goal on their next uh possession both teams then exchang punts and then the Chargers got another touchdown JK doin a 61 yard run in this drive and then um Justin Herbert connected with lad makoni for a 10 yard touchdown his first of his NFL career that made a 22 to 10 then the Raiders um turn the ball over Gardner muu I was trying to hit Alexander Madison it ended up getting picked off yeah actually got got deflected up in the air and and it was picked off um by Ford uh on that play and uh yeah the Chargers ended up winning the game uh how many sacks did they finish with in this game they had four sacks in this game I oh and I didn't realize Bud du PRI on the Chargers too I see him on the box score here but you had a sack from Joey Bosa who actually left the game I he got hurt in this game khil Mack had um one and a half sacks in this game Morgan Fox had the other half of that sack uh so yeah I mean the Chargers defense did its thing um Puna Ford was the defensive tackle that got the pick uh late in the game uh on the pass that was batted up in the air but I wanted to talk about well first of all I wanted to highlight uh Jake K dobbin's performance in this game because you know he's he's gone through a lot in his short NFL career um he's dealt with a couple of season ending injuries an ACL and I think last year last year was the Achilles but um and he's still only uh well he's 25 years old um you know they brought him and Gus Edwards in to kind of you know be the running backs of this well to be the lead running backs of this team and um you know it's been a challenging uh career for JK Dobbins or you know and it's just um to see him go out there and perform like he did I mean look at the numbers only 10 cares put 135 yards in a touchdown um you you you're happy to see that and you want to see that continue and um you know after the game uh Tracy wolson spoke with him uh um and it's kind of funny because you know he went up against Jim Harbaugh when Jim Harbaugh was a coach of Michigan and he was a running back at Ohio State and now they're on the same team so they talked about that Dynamic so that that was that was funny um you know to hear about that and how things change um I mean I don't think JK Dobbins is going to be doing this every week but you know you got to be encouraged by that and the Chargers they ran the ball for 176 yards in a touchdown so you know they they want to run the football and Justin Herbert you know only finished 17 of 26 for 144 yards in a touchdown didn't have to be great in this game um you know lad makoni ended up finishing as their leading receiver fire receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown Quinn Johnson had three receptions for 38 yards Joshua Palmer actually got ejected from this game there was a fight uh he only had two receptions for 15 yards Hayden Hurst had that 27 yard reception in this game but you know I mean I know it's one game but you know you got to like what you see I I said that the Chargers would be a competitive team this year I said nine wins and they got off to a good start and then as for the Raiders Gardner mchu was not great in this game um went 25 of 33 for 257 yards a touchdown and a pick Raiders only ran the ball for 71 yards jacobe Myers was the leading receiver he had three receptions for 61 yards Devonte Adams had five reception for 59 yard I'm really curious to see if they end up trading Devonte Adams because there are a few teams that could use his services and look one of the reasons why he wanted to go to Vegas was to play with Derek Carr well Derek Carr is not there anymore last year had garoo then Aiden oconnell now he's got Gardner muu and muu played well last year but wasn't great here and you know who knows if muu you know makes it through the whole season you know it could be Aiden o Connell at one point so we'll see what happens I mean again it's only one game and you know like I've been saying you don't want to overreact to um you you don't want to overreact to just one game now we'll talk about a team later in the show that yeah I'm going to react to the one or or overreact to the the game that they had because it's it's Justified but you know for the Raiders um I I don't want to overreact just yet now they do play the Ravens next week so it doesn't get any easier uh back-to-back hard balls uh to open up the season that it's not great you know and the Ravens are a team that has Super Bowl aspirations you know for the Chargers they're just trying to show Improvement and they definitely showed that on Sunday um you know I'm curious to see you know how this offense will look when Justin Herbert does have a monster game um you know with the running if the running game is like that and Justin Herbert has a big game and hopefully he builds a rapport with these receivers you know how is that offense going to look and can the defense continue to play like it did on Sunday cuz that was a we big weakness of the team last year was the defense the defense was not good but har ball I think already is starting to change the culture there and I I you know I look the Chargers could they be a wild card team I I really do think so but it's very early and let's see what they do now next week uh they take well they take on the Panthers next week and the Panthers had a very bad week too so you know the Chargers you know they just be looking at 2 and0 so and like I said I had him at nine wins so you know that would get the to a good start now that game is in Carolina um and you know let's see I mean if the Panthers don't put play well in that game in their home opener you know that's really bad uh because already I mean it looked like they looked like the same team from last year uh if not worse the way they played against the Saints on Sunday uh so yeah the Chargers I like their chances to win next week and then as for the Raiders like I said they play the Ravens so yeah right now they're looking at 0 and2 um now gner mchu did go on the road last year and beat the Ravens as a member of the Colts so you know who knows maybe he could do it again um but yeah uh Chargers get their first win har Ball's first win as their head coach again uh you know happy for JK Dobbins the performance that he had hope he continues that throughout the season and stay stays healthy and then as for the Raiders got to pick up the pieces and move on and you know LIF a fight another day and look it's against the Ravens so it doesn't get any easier but you know uh maybe um like I said maybe mchu could pull off another miracle like he did last year uh when they went against the Ravens at Baltimore and so we'll see but let me know what you guys think about this game what were uh some of your takeaways from it uh let me know in the comments so fourth part of the show we're going to get into the duel between CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson the Texans narrowly beating the Colts 29 to 27 so let me pull up the uh the stats of both quarterbacks um again this was one of the best games of the weekend now they didn't throw for a ton of yards but you know they both made their fair share of plays like CJ strot at one point uh it was on it was on fourth and one earlier in the game uh he slipped and it looked like you know the Texans were going to turn it over on downs but he still completed a pass on his knees uh to get the first down uh threw a couple of touchdown passes to Stefon Diggs um and then for Anthony Richardson he had a rushing touchdown in this game but also that 60 yard bomb to Alec Pierce um that was unbelievable I mean already you see like you know if Anthony Richardson can stay healthy the Colts you know they might have their quarterback but again that goes back to well you don't want to overreact because it's week one but still you saw what he did last year in the limited games the limited amount of games that he played in and already like you see what he does here in this game I I mean if he could continue to play like that continue to play like that the Colts might have their guy um and I would lean towards saying they do have their guy but again you want to see that full body of work um but yeah this was uh this game was competitive um the the score at the half the Texans were up 12 to7 um colsa outscored them six to3 in the third quarter and then both teams scored 14 points in the fourth quarter but yeah so the Colts on their first drive they turned it over on Downs the Texans on their first drive uh they kicked a field goal uh to make it three nothing then like I said that 60 yard pass to Alec Pierce that opened up the scoring for the Colts that made it 7 to3 Texans then responded with a field goal of their own and then we went into the second quarter Texans got their first touchdown CJ strad connected with niik Collins for 55 yards um got down there in the red zone and Stefon Diggs from nine yards out scores a touchdown uh they went for two uh with Joe Mixon and he was not able to get into the end zone uh Anthony Richardson did turn the ball over in this game the interception when I was watching the highlights before it was not great um don't really know what happened on that miscommunication or just a bad throw uh but uh that ended up being a turnover and uh that's how the first half ended so yeah 12 to 7 at the half then the Texans opened up with a field goal another one uh the Colts punted actually this is what could have changed the momentum of the game cuz the Texans punt got blocked and the Colts cashed in their first play on that drive Jonathan Taylor scored from five yards out to make it 15 to to 13 but then the Texans scored a touchdown on their next Drive um uh actually stra threw an interception but uh there was defensive holding um so you know that could have been huge but uh Colts ended up getting penalized on that play Joe Mixon from three yards out who had a monster game uh that made it 22 to 13 then in the fourth quarter Colts uh scored a touchdown uh Anthony Richardson to uh to duel in from 54 yards out again another big play by this Colts offense um so that made it 22 to2 but then the Texans responded again um and that was Di's second touchdown of the game there uh that play that drive was 11 plays 70 yards 7 and A2 minutes of time of possession and then the Colts scored a touchdown again um Richardson connected with Pierce again for 57 yards and then he scored a rushing touchdown on Fourth and goal from three yards out and there was about two minutes left in the game but the Texans were able to ice it uh on Third and 11 a stoud connected with Nico Collins uh for a touch or for a 12 yard completion and that basically iced the game well then Joe Mixon ran it a few times and then that really iced the game and uh yeah the final score ended up being 29 to7 a Stroud as you see his numbers there he went 24- 32 Joe Mixon huge game for the Texans and his debut with his new team 30 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown if that's the Joe Mixon that the Texans are going to get I mean that is huge uh for this team Nico Collins did his thing against the Colts six receptions for 117 yards uh tank Dell in his first game back um three receptions for 40 yards also had a 17 yard C or 17 yard run um I don't really want to say carry but yeah 17 yard run um yeah he had two uh uh runs in this game um but yeah the 17 yard uh run was big at one point for them and Stefon dig six or seven for 33 yards but he had the two touchdowns and then as for the Colts Anthony Richardson only went N9 of 19 that's the first time I've seen I didn't realize he didn't throw the ball that much also ran the ball for 56 yards in the touchdown Jonathan Taylor had 48 yards on the ground and a touchdown Alec Pierce had a huge game three receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown and uh Ashton duelan had one receptions for 54 yards that was for the touchdown Michael Pitman only had four receptions for 31 yard yards in this game um Colts defense had four sacks in this game on stoud uh so you know they were applying pressure DeForest Buckner had a sack and a half and quy Payne had a sack as well um so you got to like that that they were getting pressure on strout even though um you know he he was able to make some plays in this game and the Texans defense had a couple of sacks in this game as well but look when you look at week one and you see how the Titans played and how the Jaguars played um you know I mean the Jaguars well actually the Titans and the Jaguars should have won well more so the Titans the Titans were up 17 to nothing and they blew their lead and jaguars blew their lead too um you know we could have saw like three one and0 teams in this division but we see three 0 And1 teams and one one and0 team and that's the Texans who you know I picked to win the division um yeah I I mean there's a lot to like though from what you saw from both quarterbacks uh I look I picked shroud to win MVP uh tried to be different although Josh Allen with his performance that he had uh on Sunday you know I mean that's why a lot of people picked him and obviously he got momes uh as well but um yeah I mean there's a lot to like I I didn't realize that Anthony Richardson only went n of n but he threw for he he made the most out of those nine completions especially to Alec Pierce and to duelan um but yeah I mean I think there's a lot to like about the Colts as well I mean the Texans are a very good team um but the Colts could be a team you know there's people that picked them to make the playoffs I didn't they're going to be hanging around though for it it wouldn't surprise me if they make it but you know if Anthony Richardson you know continues to play like he did you know obviously the interception was bad but you know that's happen um you know and obviously people have their concerns but he's coming back cuz he's coming back from the shoulder injury and you know we don't want to see him get hurt again but running the football is a part of his game and you're going to continue to see that so with that combined with the explosive plays uh throwing the football I mean this Colts offense is going to be good and they did it against the Texans a team that is going to be very good this year and is the favorites to win the AFC South so I like what I saw from Anthony Richardson and hopefully he continues to perform they take on the Packers next week without Jordan love so I like the Colts chances in that game um and then for the Texans they take on the Bears on Sunday Night Football uh and we'll see if the Bears offense can really get it going because it was really about their special teams and their defense as to why they won the game Caleb Williams was not great in his debut but again it's his first game it's his first NFL game got to give him more Runway so um I anticipate we're going to see a different Bears offense than what we saw on Sunday but one of the things that people were talking about was the offensive line for the Bears and how it just was not doing well and against the Texans and you got Den Neil Hunter and Will Anderson Jr you know the the Bears are going to have Bears offensive line is going to have their hands full so um but yeah one of the best games of the weekend uh with these two quarterbacks and look I know it's only one week but you know it could come down to these two teams for that division um I mean I I already said the Titans were going to be a team that finished in last place but you know I'm still not going to give up on the Jags just yet [Music] um I mean they still got look we got a long season all right it's only week one but it could come down to the Colts and the Texans for the division uh I mean like I said I already had the Titans finishing in last but um yeah we we we'll see how it goes but let me know what you guys think about this game uh what were your takeaways from it very exciting game um and you know that's one of the cons about being at a football game is you miss all of the other games you know you don't I mean you could keep up with the scores on your phone but you're missing all these highlights and things like that you know you're not not able to watch Red Zone at the game so and boy do I wish that I was able to watch these games because the game that I saw uh on Sunday was not great and we are actually going to talk about that game uh because you know I I I I know I brought it up a little bit yesterday but I just wanted to get into that game and give you my thoughts on it um the Giants and the Vikings we're going to talk about that game we're going to talk about the performance by Daniel Jones as well a lot to cover with this game and again we we did more than scratch the surface with this past week of football but we still got more stuff to talk about and that's why tomorrow we still got a few things I want to cover Josh Allen's performance on Sunday the Steelers and their performance and I'm trying to remember what was the there was another game that I also wanted to cover that I didn't get that I haven't had a chance to that I wanted to get into I remember I'll make sure to go through the slate in the in the break and uh come back to you guys um because there was one there was another game that I wanted to cover tomorrow um but yeah we'll get into that uh when we come back from break uh I'm going to go do a quick uh dive into the slate and see what um what I'm missing but I know Josh Allen and the Steelers they're on tap uh for tomorrow but I I I'll take a look at what the other uh the other game I was I was thinking about um but I I'll I I'll get back to you guys when we come back from break so for one final time today uh stick around and we'll talking about the Giants Vikings game but I did go back and look so the Bengals and the Patriots we'll talk about as well that that actually will be how we open up the show tomorrow we'll talk about that game and then I'll do a um a comb a or NFC South uh combo segment where I'll talk about the Saints Panthers game as well as the Buccaneers and their performance against the commanders um and then actually might two power rankings uh to end off the show tomorrow do either a top five or a top 10 um I I might prefer doing top five um but I'll think about it uh you know as I go throughout the day here but let's get into the game that I was actually at on Sunday um so again uh we were celebrating 100 seasons of the Giants um the best part of the game was the the halftime ceremony uh with all the past players you know seeing guys that you know I watched GR up um and of course seeing you know the oldtimers the alltime greats for them especially Lawrence Taylor really wish I would have saw him play football um because he's one of the greatest football players of all time and um yeah no that was nice that was the best part and also you know being there with friends and um and and uh you know with my parents as well it it was it was still a good time but the game the game itself was horrible it was a awful performance by the Giants um it did get off to a good start for the Giants because well first of all their first drive didn't do anything but on the Vikings first drive you had Dexter Lawrence sack Sam darnold the crowd was really into it that was probably the loudest I've ever heard MetLife Stadium at least when it came to the giant to a giant game because when I went to the Jet game last year on Sunday night when they played the Chiefs it was really loud there too um but yeah that was probably the the loudest I've ever heard the stadium at a giant game and then all of a sudden um the Giants get the fumble recovery and I'm like wow what a great start for the defense because that was what I was most excited about was the Giants defense because they got Brian Burns to pair with Dexter Lawrence and Kon Tibido I know the secondary and the secondary was not great um but if the Giants were able to app apply pressure you know that helps out the secondary so maybe the secondary doesn't get exposed as much as you know other teams wanted to but it did get exposed um and uh yeah it was great but again when the Giants only got three points after that turnover I was like that's not good that's not good and then those feelings that I had were only magnified even further when the Giants looked like they were going to get off the field on the Vikings next possession and there was a pass interference call which was not the right call um I think it was I believe it was on a it was either on a Dory Jackson or or Deontay Banks um but they turned around and were looking at the ball it's not like they you know they didn't give the receiver an opportunity to catch the ball I understand why it was called but I mean that was not not the right call so yeah it was on a Dory Jackson and it was on Third and eight the Giants were going to get off the field but this was a 36-yard penalty and this moved the Vikings from their own 37 to um where did it get them to they got them to the uh the Giants 22 or Giants 27 um it just that that just changed the whole momentum of the game and it was funny so my friend who's a Vikings fan and my mom says the same thing too why is it that you know sometimes running backs they don't try to cut to the outside and they just run up the Middle where you have this whole mosh pit of players and I said well that just that's what happens you know and I get it they they should be trying to swing it to the outside more and then what happens on the very next play after Aaron Jones runs it up the middle for two yards Aaron Jones cuts to the outside and takes it in from three yards out and the Vikings score their first touchdown of the game to make it seven to3 so there you go uh then the Giants punted Vikings they uh they scored a touchdown on their Drive 11 plays 99 yards they were backed up in their own well into their own territory and it didn't matter um Sam darnold connected I mean this was a game changer on second and 12 from the 10 darnold connected with Justin Jefferson for 44 yards connected with Addison for 16 Addison for 13 again they got all the way down there and then on Fourth and two uh darnold connected with Justin Jefferson for a three- yard touchdown and that made it 14 to3 then both teams exchanged punts and that's how the first half ended and then we got the ceremony which was great Vikings opened up the second half with the touchdown six plays 70 yards uh 2 minutes and 52 52 seconds of time possession and darnold connected with uh nayor for a 21 yard touchdown and that made it 21 to3 and at that point you figured yeah this game's over uh the Giants actually did score a field goal on their Drive uh Jones connected with Malik neighbors for 25 yards so that was nice to see that uh but again didn't really amount to anything Graham G kicked a 50 yard so hopefully stays healthy cuz once again looks like he's going to be our best offensive player uh this year maybe outside of Mal League neighbors uh then the Vikings punted and then and then on the very first play of the Giants next Drive in the third quarter only the drive only lasted one play I I mean I I I didn't even react to this when it happened live watching this but then Daniel Jones throws a pick six and it just that it was horrible it was a little like screen pass that he was trying that they were trying to set up and Anthony van GLE read that all the way and he picked it off and right into the end zone to make it 28 to6 and then there was a punt Sam darnold actually did throw an interception he did throw an interception in this game um but then you know and the Giants put together a drive they get down there uh on Fourth and eight uh they had to go for it and Jones threw a pick um and then that it's basically it I mean the Giants turned it over on Downs both teams punted and that was the final score of the game Daniel Jones finished the game 22 of 42 for 186 yards no touchdowns two interceptions one of them was a pick six giants r the ball for only only 74 yards Malik neighbors was was their leading receiver no surprise there 66 yards receiving Giants only had one sack and that was a sack by Dexter Lawrence at the very beginning of the game as for the Vikings Sam darnold was efficient 19 to 24 started off the game 12 for 12 in this game 12 for 12 19 to 24 he finished 208 yards two touchdowns and a pick Aaron Jones 94 yards solid game for him in his first game as a Viking I think the Packers still should have kept him so they could have had him and Josh Jacobs but that's neither here nor there he had the like I said had a touchdown Justin Jefferson only finished with four receptions for 59 yards in the touchdown so they kept him in check I mean it was there was a touchdown and there was the 44 yard reception Jordan Addison left this game I believe it was an ankle injury so we'll keep an eye on that um Jaylen Naylor had the one reception for 21 yards and that was for the touchdown um CJ ham was the player that fumbled in this game that's what set up the Giants first field goal but yeah Anthony van GLE had an interception and that was the pick six as well as Harrison Smith had the interception and that was on the fourth and eight and the Vikings finished with five sacks in this game and Daniel Jones I mean he kind of just he he did that to himself on some of them was holding on to the ball way too long and I don't there was that and I also just think the offensive line didn't do its job either at times also there were so many drops in this game so many drops Daniel Jones was overthrowing guys the offense just did not look great at all well not even great didn't look good didn't look confident it was not good it was not good it wasn't terrible game the only difference between this opener and last year's opener is the Vikings scored less points than the Cowboys and the Giants actually scored points but they didn't score a touchdown they didn't score a touchdown all I was all I was asking for late in the game was can the Giants just score a touchdown just score a touchdown just make the score look a little less lopsided here but they couldn't even do that but I could tell early on that the offense was going to struggle that's why when the defense got the turnover early on I'm like you got to cash in here get a touchdown here they didn't do that now Daniel Jones actually looked like he had a clear path to the end zone but he got tackled as he was taking off with it but the play calling was not great Brian dable took over play calling duties uh from mik kovka and it wasn't great it what people have been asking for including myself is push the ball down the field and you know maybe the Giants were trying to do that but they couldn't because Daniel Jones was holding on to the ball too long and he just was not making good decisions and he was overthrowing guys wasn't getting help from some of his receivers again because they were it was just they were driving passes but it was just a mess all around like at least when it comes to the Jets they scored touchdowns Rogers didn't embarrass himself last night it was the defense that did for the Giants nothing went right for them nothing it was a bad performance by them all around now they take on the commanders a team that Daniel Jones does own now if Daniel Jones goes out there and does not play well you might want to consider maybe starting somebody else because this is year six of this guy and it doesn't look like they're going anywhere with him now I knew this all along the worst thing that happened to the Giants to be honest was Daniel Jones winning that playoff game against the Vikings because that made them say okay he could be the guy if we give him a better team and then last year happens he gets hurt the Giants were not good we're not good and now here we are and they're stuck with him until the end of the year cuz he keeps playing like that not only is he not going to be with the team next year but he might not even finish the year as a starting quarterback and it's not like the Vikings are this you know no the Vikings are a solid team they are and Sam darnold you give them weapons look at what he could do now I don't think we're going to see that every week cuz the Vikings schedule coming up is brutal but the Vikings have a good team but it's not like the Vikings are this top tier team in the NFC the Giants they could have been more competitive here and they weren't but that falls on a lot of people and also I wanted to bring this up too Kon Tibido postgame interview was not a good look because the reporter was asking him you know this team is supposed to be built on a pass rush and you know didn't even finish what he was going to ask Kon Tibido and Kon Tibido is like oh does anybody else have any questions completely just dismissed the reporter now was it I mean was it a great formation of a question I mean I guess not it could have been worded better but you know what those jobs are hard it's hard to interview players to come up with things but not a great look there and Dexter Lawrence too was saying how he he didn't like that the GI because there were a lot ofo there was a lot of booing in this game and the skull chance were taking over this is the second Giant game that I've been to honestly you know with the third game pretty much every Giant game that I've been to the opposing team's fan base takes over the whole [Music] stadium when I went to the Cowboys game in 2017 they they destroyed the Giants Cowboys took over that Stadium when I went to Giants Packers in 2019 Packer fans another fan base that likes to travel they took over and the other day with the Vikings skull chance skull chance and I was sitting next to my friend who is a Vikings fan it was not great it was not great so where do they go from here like I said they're playing the commanders a team that Daniel Jones does well against if he does not do well against the commanders you got to go to somebody else whether it's Drew lock whether it's Tommy DeVito let one of them get a shot and they both did not look great in the preseason but can it be any worse that was bad that was really bad but props to the Vikings because I don't know what kind of season they're going to have with Sam darnold the quarterback but they are going to be a competitive team this year the Giants I said seven- 10 the way played on Sunday they'll be lucky if they win three games that's how bad it was and Carl banks on the radio broadcast said to Shan O'Hara and I said this yesterday I think you almost want to suit up again to help these guys I mean that's really the the one of the biggest things too is how they just like flat out I mean you I don't want to say they disrespected the old-timers but it was like how do you do that when you're celebrating the history of your franchise this team has won four Lombardy trophies and look at what they're putting out there right now the kind of performances and there are some good players on this team look you don't want to overreact but I'm overreacting to the Giants the Giants the offense is not good and the defense wants sack got to do better and that falls on the head coach and if the Giants have a really bad year where they only win three games Brian DA's not going to be here next year and what about Joe Shane Joe Shane drafted Kavon Tibido and Evan Neil Evan Neil looks like a bus Kavon Tibido might just be okay we'll see it's one game but they got to beat the commanders next week cuz if they don't not good not good um I could go on and on about this game but not a good performance by the Giants good performance by the Vikings um they needed to win that game because again their schedule is brutal coming up so you know they need to get the wins where they can get them and this was a team that they they took care of and this was one of the games that I thought the Giants could win just cuz Sam darnold was starting a quarterback but you know what anytime I go to a game where Sam darnold plays he does well 2018 when he played with the Jets his rookie year against the Packers played really well played well in this game started off the game 12 for 12 you know what it is when I go to Giant games now the Giants Patriots game I went to way back when that was the best Giant game I ever went to Eli against Brady that was the last matchup they had against each other that was a great game the Giants did lose but that was a great game Eli played well there but since then uh well Eli didn't play great in the Cowboys game that I saw him play and that was the week after he got benched by Gino Smith Daniel Jones didn't play well against the Packers and he didn't play well here but when I go to Jets games Sam darnold played well and Zack Wilson played well last year so you know what maybe I should go to more jet games this year if I do go to another game this year maybe I should go well I'm going to be going to another game just not here in the New York New Jersey area uh it'll be elsewhere but maybe I should be going to more jet games because the Jets quarterback seem to do well when I go all right that's it I I'm done
