Jason Fitz from Yahoo sports hanging out with the King Derk Henry you are now a member of the Baltimore Ravens but I'm really familiar with Nashville and Nashville has a special relationship with you I don't think the national media realizes how much that City loves you for you how difficult was the decision to move on from being a part of the Titans yeah I mean it's always tough um you know when you've been somewhere eight years um and you uh have so much love for that City the organization um the whole Nashville Nash Nashville Community um you know I grew so much as a person and a player through those eight years so I was really appreciative of everything that's went on through those years with everybody that was in involved from my coaches and teammates and everybody in the organization and the fans supporting me so definitely aess relationship with the city of Nashville the whole organization and the fans and um you know always know cherish those eight years but um sometimes you know change is needed and you know it can also be good eight years is a long time what's the moment like the first time you put on colors that aren't the colors you're used to wearing um yeah it was uh it was different um but at the same time uh I told a story about my grandmother loving purple so uh kind of felt at home a little bit um knowing that that was her favorite color and um feel like that was something that was that was destined to happen you know during during this journey so it was different but um definitely com comfortable now and I'm happy to be here you come into a team where you have this huge reputation across the league but you're coming into a team that's established that has leaders how do you find your footing to be yourself but also be part of the leadership Committee of what the Ravens are doing yeah just earn that respect um show them show them how I work how I approach uh work every day about how I carry myself and um being a great teammate uh to my new teammates as well and just getting to know those guys um getting getting acclimated um on how they do things and the Brotherhood there and um everything's been going just fine and um like I said I'm I'm right at home and um excited to get the season going I mean your workouts are famous though brother right like everybody knows about your workouts how weird was it to take that from one place to another city like relocating everything that's part of your workout life yeah well I spent most of my uh offseason and working out during the offseason in Dallas and um you know I went to OTAs to uh get acclimated and get get get started with them and which is it was good work as well so you know it wasn't too much of of a change about how they work and how they and um how they do things and um yeah so it wasn't that much of a big big transition still continue to work out in Dallas uh when I was in the Baltimore but um um now I'm here and uh workouts are are just as great here so I think it's fair to say you've never played with a quarterback like Lamar right so what's that moment in practice where you're looking and you're saying man that's the guy that's standing with me on this team yeah it's cool man just the um you know be on this side of the ball now and um you know uh be be playing with him we all know what type of player he is and um this is about his approach to work every day he comes to work and um you know he works his b off and um you see why he's so great and how how he approaches practic every day he's a great leader um um a dynamic player and um I'm excited to be his teammate and go out there on Sundays and go get some W's I mean it's it's interesting though because for years you really had to carry an organization you were the face of the Titans in so many ways now you don't have that pressure necessarily how does that sort of change your life oh yeah I mean I just I me I'm I'm just excited to uh to to be on this new chapter this new journey and um uh playing with this team and being part of this organization um like I said being the time in Tennessee was was lovely I wouldn't changed it for a bit and um but but um I'm excited to to be here and um see how it all unfolds there's a bunch of idiots like me in front of a microphone that constantly say well he's going to hit a wall you can't take that many hits and that many carries over the course of his career not eventually hit a wall do you hear any of that noise I mean that that comes with the game um I mean that's that's never gonna stop whether it's me or the next guy I mean that just that's just what happens I mean that that comes with it I mean it's it's it's going to be talk it's gon to be noise all I'm all I'm worried about is what I can't control control what you can't control and that's me going out there playing at a high level each and every week consistently I love that about you man but like rivalries are different too like the Titans and Ravens have different rivalries so like how do you get sort of acclimated to the Ravens culture of the teams that they absolutely hate playing yeah I'm sure they'll get me uh quite acclimated once the season started um I know the the big thing around here is Pittsburgh Steelers and they say you're not a raven till you beat the Pittsburgh Steelers so got a little long ways to go and we'll we'll cross that bridge when we get there but yeah that Riv is definitely real over here in Baltimore with this two Good Food Cities too like National's got great food but so's Baltimore right so where where are we eating better yeah I mean uh definitely been fortunate to be able to be at two places to have great food um I was a little less strict on myself as far as eating habits um during the allseason OTAs but now I'm on my diet now I can't venture out to any food spots even though it's a lot a lot of great food spots out here um with with the diet I have going on but but yeah what's the diet like what tell what what's derck Henry eating every day uh just pretty much Chicken vegetables rice or I have like some uh breakfast food some eggs or steak potatoes um gluten-free pancakes just just that or some some water nothing nothing too crazy just trying to make sure that my body is as healthy as can be for Sundays
