thank you for joining our live stream coverage here I'm meteorologist Melinda Singh joined by meteorologist Rachel modestino thank you Rachel for joining me here lots to cover not only across Ontario but also across Quebec we've been tracking tornadoes for the past few hours now and also quite a bit of a widespread of region that environment can has issued a tornado watch for yeah I mean things are just getting going and in the coming hours they are expecting to intensify here's a look at the tornado watch it expands all the way from North of the GTA across Algonquin and into majority of Southwestern Quebec so if you are in this watch you're going to want to keep your app handy because you are in an environment that could be conducive for rotation and a tornado and we already have tornado warnings in place as well yeah these are for the regions of Cochran iqua Falls Timmons kirken Lake Ruan in Quebec and angelart as well please forgive us if you are pronouncing any of these names wrong but these are the regions that have a current tornado warning these have been issued by Environment Canada so what you can do if you are in these locations if you are not already doing so you can head inside go to a basement or lowest point in a building you can stay away from Windows and glass doors you can cover yourself with a mattress or a sleeping bag here are just some of the best locations here as well so once again moving to an interior room or a basement or a room that doesn't have any Windows now we've been tracking these past few hours like I mentioned here we've already seen a few of the storm cells Rachel now what's currently ongoing in terms of the alerts well in terms of the alerts you can zoom in right around Tim's Melinda because that's where we have that tornado warning that's been ongoing for I guess around 30 minutes or so um there is a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado located near maen so that's going to be moving East at 80 kilm per hour so these storms are absolutely cooking it towards the east moving quite quickly indeed and they're also packing a lot of moisture so that also poses a danger because you may not see the tornado coming uh it may be rain wrapped so if you are in that uh Pink area that tornado warning area uh that's where you want to get inside you don't want to be out on the highways with this one uh and then if you're ahead of it so towards the east uh just north of Kirkland Lake um that's where you want to be a little bit more proactive yeah absolutely right there's a second one there as well at the bottom so there's a few of those uh regions this one says that it's moving uh just near Kirk there have pronouncing that correctly at around same 80 km per hour moving Eastward so there are a few of these individual El within the cluster that we're going to continue to track even ones down towards Engelhart and Kirkland Lake we're tracking a few as well and now it looks like it's starting to become a bit of a line more rather than a cluster we've been tracking the past few hours here so widespread area also into regions of Quebec just along this border here this is the one we've been taking or keeping an eye on rather uh definitely looks like quite a bit of rotation even with those darker Hues of purple ritual means heavy amounts of rainfall and potenti show for quite a bit of hail also yeah hail is going to be a feature um you can see the difference between what you mentioned Melinda a line or a cluster what you're looking at here is more of a cluster of thunderstorm so what we when we say that we mean supercells and those are the ones that uh can produce tornadoes quite easily the line is more of a signature for damaging wind gusts um ahead out ahead of it but we are still tracking embedded rotation within that line so like I mentioned Kirkland lake is probably going to be under the gun with our next scan as this continues to track towards the east um and really all of these supercells they are going to be quite dangerous in the coming moments uh they're eating up quite a bit of thunderstorm energy if you have walked outside uh no matter where you are across Onan Quebec you felt the muggy heat it's almost like the energy is in the air and uh with this setup we have a trough swinging through um and that's what's going to be posing a threat for continuous rounds thunderstorm so we're just getting going now uh this is going to likely continue to persist for the coming hours and well into the evening yeah absolutely right here's look at that moisture we're looking at a moderate there so it's very high moisture content which means we could be looking at heavy to even torrential rainfall there is also potential for a little bit of flooding depending um if these storms are be more stationary but doesn't look the case because they're moving quite quickly at around 80 km per hour I would be worried about flooding once they do reach the G ta Toronto um we'll be looking at that threat more uh as we head into the evening hours so around 8:00 and through the overnight so urbanized flooding is going to be a concern when uh that those torrential downpours and all that moisture uh hits those areas that don't have as well drained uh and are also quite paved if that was a look at your thunderstorm energy you can see the Reds really draped all the way across Southern Ontario and into Quebec uh and we're already seeing that popcorn feature coming up on the satellite and what that means is that these uh storms are building vertically when you see that bubbling effect so that means that they're actually getting stronger they're picking up on all that thunderstorm energy or what we like to say thunderstorm juice um and they're going to be continuing to be quite severe in the coming moments yeah absolutely right up towards the north here that's where you can see a lot more of that cloud cover you can also like you mentioned uh these storms bubbling up and then down towards the south of few them we're also tracking uh into Cottage Country and then down towards the GTA we're looking at a few of those cells now starting to Bubble Up we just bring in the radar here for us once again and just zoom down towards the South where we're also looking at just a quick sell it's not warned as of yet but this is definitely bringing quite a bit of rain uh down towards Bramton we were seeing that this is the secondary cluster we've been tracking this one's bit more slow moving I would say uh definitely impacting areas like halberton just north of bankra and into Cottage Country so this is one that has been moving through Ottawa looks like you uh just got through a little bit of rain another round is moving through but not warned as of right now which is good news the more active weather is up across the north yeah and um just to update the um the Quebec tornado warning has now been dropped so uh it is now a severe thunderstorm warning for the rayun area um and valdor as well so we currently have have tornado warnings only in place for areas uh near Timmons uh north of Kirkland Lake that's where we continue to see some rotation on radar um and that extends all the way up to Cochran but the line of thunderstorms has well moved through it's um more so just headed uh towards Kirkland lake at the moment um so we're going to continue to track that but some good news in Quebec that tornado warning has dropped uh but we'll continue to see if uh more pop up in the coming moments yeah absolutely right we've been been forecasting this ratio for uh a past couple of days now and this is what we've been talking about any area here in red this is our forecast so looking at very severe storms within this red region including Barry the North End of the GTA uh dun Wars North Bay alanin bankr and areas of Southwestern Quebec any area in Orange we're still looking at severe storms but the higher criteria the more key ingredients are in the region that we're seeing the red just some of the main hazards here looking at winds that could be gusting well over 100 km per hour Within These individual uh severe storms yes a cold front will be moving in that's the trigger for these storms later into the evening hours those winds will be gusting around 50 to 70 colet PR hour we're still going to be looking at those very strong winds within the individual storm cells as well as large hail I did mention earlier that we're tracking potentially upwards to 4 cm in size which on this scale is around pingpong ball sized wow yeah you do not want to be driving through pingpong uh size hail or greater uh that can definitely cause damage or even being outside um hail also causes quite a bit of damage and we're going to be tracking power outages as well um throughout the evening as these storms kind of get going and cut through southern Ontario um so hail definitely going to be a feature along with the threat for tornadoes uh I do want to point out that we put out that risk map um about 2 days ago so we were well ahead of this setup um and I do want to highlight what the setup entailed I mean it had pretty much all of my check bar check uh check boxes Melinda we had the thunderstorm energy uh as you saw before we had that moisture um and we also have a digging trough that's going to be making its way across Ontario and Quebec uh throughout this evening so what that's going to do is really amplify these storms into that severe criteria uh or Beyond and we also have uh quite a strong jet stream above us so looking at some of the soundings um a little bit higher up in the atmosphere we had dry air and when you see that uh that allows the winds that are aoft to sink down towards the surface so we're going to be uh a little bit concerned about wind gust as well uh but that also just intensifies these storms and as it deepens in the coming hours that's where we're going to be seeing around that 6:00 walk hour uh I think it'll be quite juicy absolutely right especially down towards the South I'll just quickly run out one of the models here that we've been looking at in terms of the timing as we head into the next few hours here I'll just started here on local time so in the next couple of hours there's that cold front that is a trigger for these storms that we've been seeing areas like subury Berry as you mentioned here just after 67 definitely things starts to pick up down towards Barry just the North End of the 400 here and even down towards London the GTA you'll be looking at these storms later around that 8 9 10:00 hour and it looks like a bit of a cluster down towards Windsor also but can't forget Quebec in this cuz a lot of these regions will be looking at those strong Gusty winds and of course uh quite a bit of rainfall to help sustain these storms and then as we head into the overnight it looks like it slows down a bit so this means we're going to be looking at overnight storms still on the severe side into your pre-dawn Friday and then Friday afternoon Rachel that's some the things are going to be shifting slightly more Eastward we're going to be looking at that storm threat across areas of the Eastern townships of Quebec down towards gaspy region even areas of North End of frederickton down towards MMI and Northern portions of Frederick uh New Brunswick rather yeah New Brunswick uh this is all coming to you tomorrow so heads up uh but what we're tracking currently is ongoing severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings uh across parts of Northeastern ont onario we have one tornado warning left it's still lingering in and around the timens region uh that's where rotation has been picked up with a t uh with a storm that could be possibly producing a tornado as well as pingpong ball sized hail this is making its way towards the east so towards the Ontario and Quebec border uh but if you are in this you definitely want to get inside uh as we mentioned Melinda this is going to be ongoing in quite widespread uh we're not talking about isolated event these storms are really going to be uh continuing to um really instigate across Ontario and Quebec throughout uh the coming hours so you definitely want to have a plan if you know somebody that's up here maybe camping cottaging give them a call let them make sure that they're getting all of their alerts but it's just that one tornado warning at the moment uh but lots of severe thunderstorm warnings yeah right across the board here down towards uh regions like sus Marie you've been seeing a few of these storms already a few more are moving through and then down towards Kirkland Lake as well and even into areas of Quebec Valor Amos you're seeing all these severe thunderstorm uh watches and warnings at play here is a current widespread look here yes we have severe thunderstorm watches in uh in progress here down towards Ken Carden Owen Sound subury Perry Sound any area in yellow on your screen that's a severe thunderstorm watch warnings are in red and tornado watches are in brown and of course the tornado award we've been talking about recently is in pink so this is what we're continuing to track we're also looking at a few storms uh non- severe in nature they're not warn down towards Fort Francis Thunder Bay was quite active uh yesterday across Manitoba a scatch Northwestern Ontario still seeing a little bit of moisture and instability left so looking at a little bit of some non- severe storms across that area but that's that same system that continues to move Eastward Rachel that we've been tracking here and this is that that bit of a line developing wind starting to become a bit more Gusty along this as well and up towards the areas in pink here those are the regions that are still in the tro warning yeah where you see the Reds we're talking about very heavy rainfall where you see the pinks well that's where we could be seeing hail um that reflectivity is a little bit more dominant when these storms are producing hail so um if you see any of the storms tracking towards you that have purple on it expect it to be quite strong in nature um probably packed with some hail we have a good amount of Shear in the atmosphere as well usually that's something that we're lacking uh across Ontario and Quebec with uh these severe weather setups uh but not today and what sheer is it's the difference in wind direction uh from the surface all the way up into the atmosphere so when you see a tornado rotating from the ground all the way up uh that's pretty much a visual of wind shear and we have a lot of that in the atmosphere uh through this evening so uh I'm really concerned about the storms that are ahead of this line Melinda because uh those those super cells picking up on all of that energy um they definitely could be rotating yeah you're absolutely right even behind it as well with that energy that's going definitely continue here just a quick look at the Super Cell potential meaning uh where we could be looking at rotating storms so as we continue into the evening hours down towards Barry uh even upwards to gal down towards Owens sound cotage country here and portions of Southwestern Quebec even down towards the nation's capital we have the potential for uh rotating storms which could definitely lead to tornadoes like Rachel said it's definitely a deal where we have quite a bit of wind share typically we don't really see that across Ontario and Quebec but when we do uh it's on a day like today where we could be getting the chance for rotating storms and tornadoes I wonder if you can pull up the satellite um and kind of look near uh Lake hon where um we're just talking in our our chat here that uh there's some bubbling that's uh going on near Lake hon uh and what that could be is maybe a Lake Breeze um maybe coming into play so we'll have to watch for some storms maybe instigating along that line what a Lake Breeze is is when the air comes off of the lake and interacts with the air that's on Shore and it creates like a mini cold front if you will um uh and that is notorious around the Great Lakes we have a lot of them uh and if we we do get that and it's well timed with this atmosphere we could be seeing storms uh really bubbling up quite quickly so we'll keep a watch in and around Lake here on um but Melinda we also have a question that came to us from uh our YouTube stream uh they ask what is the chance of tornadoes in Toronto North York uh Ottawa Hamilton Kingston so uh let's go over the chances for tornadoes in these major cities um right now the biggest risk is in Northeastern Ontario Central Ontario where we already had those tornado warnings in place so we're talking about Timmons to North Bay uh maybe even into the alonquin region in the coming moments uh in the coming hour or so uh and then this pushes into Western Quebec that's kind of our major area of concern in that red highlighted region uh so the places like Toronto North York Ottawa Montreal Kingston Hamilton uh I think we're well enough South that uh the timing once that front comes through the tornado risk is going to be very much diminished I think we're going to be more so concerned with torrential rainfall localized flooding frequent lightning um and some large hail power outages as well as this kind of swings through so I wouldn't necessarily rule out a tornado but uh I think just with the timing it'll be a little bit um will be in a little bit better shape than those of us north of the GTA like you mentioned as well we're losing daytime heating because these storms are going to be moving down towards the GT along the 401 Corridor later after that dinner hour 8 9 10 p.m. but quickly here on your screen this is a look at some of the storms earlier in Tim definitely uh looking like a quite scary cloud there when you see that green Hue uh that's a sign where you don't want to be out there um that kind that's that reflectivity that we were mentioning off of hail so that is a pretty uh well- defined uh storm cell that one was I believe tornado warned near the Timmons area um I'll check if it is still tornado warned but regardless if you find yourself in that red or orange highlighted region um you're going to want to stay weather aware you're going to want to keep your app with us with you uh throughout tonight uh have a careful drive home um and keep us up on YouTube as well because we'll be tracking this until uh that risk is over yeah absolutely right not only keep us aware here we're also looking at the tornado watches these are also issued by envir in Canada so you'll get your alerts on your phone also if the torado warning is in your area but very similar uh area to what our forecast is as well in terms of the tornado watch region here down towards north of the GTA Barry bankr the conditions are favorable once again uh for the development of severe storms and the potential for tornadoes as we head later into the evening hours well we did just get a new tornado warning now Melinda um that has actually pushed into quec once again it was that cell I was looking at quite closely uh just moments ago that tracked over the border of uh Ontario is now into Quebec and that is the region for v v Marie uh again apologize if I am saying any of your locations wrong you can tweet me and I will correct myself uh but that is our new tornado warning uh this cell has some pretty deep purples on it so definitely a hail producer um it does seem like rotation has been picked up on radar so uh this system is again tracking towards the east so areas that are going to be impacted um that will be areas towards grassy narrow uh just north of the lake there so if you're in that region you are now tornado warned uh and it's time to get inside absolutely right now so we're talking two areas the one Rachel mentioned and the one for timman uh Cochran and near qua Falls is there still in effect for tornado warnings ongoing yeah that one is definitely past the highway now it's East well east of Timmons uh just about to cross the border into Quebec as well so um if you're on the west side of that warning uh you're likely in a better place uh if you are west of mat Cochran uh and even into Timmons it's more so if you are heading towards the east and this is what it looked like holy cow in Timmons uh that's quite a big whales mouth or Cloud there uh shelf cloud almost but you can see the heavy downpour that green that we're talking about uh yeah that is a well defined cell right there yeah that's going to continue to track East moving at around 80 km per hour Rachel so it's very fast moving and like you mentioned it will momentarily cross over the Ontario Quebec border and there may uh be tornado warnings as that storm continues across the Quebec uh border as well even those storms that are um east of the warnings uh that are ahead of the line uh it does look like they are rotating as well they're uh super celles um just keeping a close watch on if any of them do develop that hook signature uh that tornado signature um but really any of these storms that are in and around the Val door region um they could be rotating as well so uh definitely keep this in mind I'm seeing a pretty well defined uh hook that is um heading towards t or not away um oh yeah that looks like that could be rotating there um and then even just to the north of that really any of these cells are going to be picking up on that wind shear uh so definitely um be tornado aware if you're in Southwestern Quebec and again these are tracking towards the east so valdor uh region and then areas to the north are definitely going to uh be seeing some intensification in the coming moments yeah even with the cell that's approaching here you can see the Boeing segment which means definitely some strong Gusty winds ahead of that and even down towards the South look at this looking at that's looks like black basically to me in terms of the heavy amounts of downpours that are definitely coming down uh with that so lots of heavy rainfall even up towards the north where we're still looking at severe thunderstorm watches WID spread but once again in the Reds here are severe thunderstorm watches yellows oh sorry warnings rather in the yellow severe thunderstorm watches and in the pinks or purples these are tornado warnings I'm wondering if you can highlight that uh new tornado warning once again um that popped into the uh the region of Quebec um yes right here there that cell there were just uh talking in our chat that there's a good uh what we call um three body Spike so what that is is it's a radar signature um that is indicative of hail so very likely that this cell is going to be producing large hail so we're talking about that pingpong size maybe inching closer to ping pong plus maybe Timbit size hail um but it definitely like we were mentioning that deep purple um large hail is going to be a factor along with the chance for a tornado as well we did have a question just coming off of our um tornado warnings for a moment what is the timeline of storms for southern Ontario um so Southern Ontario as Melinda showed earlier uh kind of the timing of the precipitation uh the storms are going to start to develop in the next hour or so we were mentioning that there could be a little bit of a Lake Breeze boundary uh that is getting going across the Lake hiron Shores Georgian Bay shores uh but it's going to take them a bit of time to get into the GTA uh if you're north of the GTA it's time to get prepared as you can see there um once that cold front comes through we'll be seeing that widespread risk uh but north of the GTA that's where we're going to be keeping a watch for any sort of Lake breezes uh or shortwave troughs that are going to be well ahead of that cold front uh but for the GTA specifically uh we're looking around that 8:00 hour I want to say or even just after 8 um and again at that time the environment will hopefully be diminished and we'll be mostly talking about a heavy rain threat yeah absolutely right just zooming in here for you Rachel as you spoke there so areas like Orangeville Barry down towards Kitchener you'll be looking at those storms starting to move in around that 7 8:00 hour and then down towards the GTA looks like this line is pushing a little bit slower than anticipated so around that 9 10:00 hour We're definitely losing a lot of that daytime heating that cold front as well you'll be looking at colder temperatures behind it the humidity it won't be there for Friday but Rachel it does return in the long range forecast we'll definitely talk a bit more about that coming up also but into your overnight we do this the risk for those storms even along that front as it sinks down south we'll be looking at a threat for another round or two of some thunderstorms into your early pre-dawn Friday and then mostly clear for your Friday afternoon there's a chance to see a few of those cells uh bubbling up in nature non severe for Friday though across the GTA and up towards nation's capital but the regions that we have of concern are the Eastern townships of Quebec up along the St Lawrence River into Quebec City and the gasz region also and majority of uh New Brunswick rather we're going to be looking at the potenti for Nas are also there heavy rainfall large hail and strong wind so very similar setup to Thursday this is going to be just translated a bit more Eastward into areas like New Brunswick and Quebec yeah why we're seeing it so intense right now is because we have a lot of those boxes check we have the moisture we have the upper level wind support we have the shear we have that hot and muggy atmosphere that came in earlier today believe the feels like values were in the upper 20s if not 30s across the GTA uh and then we have our trigger coming through so it's all going to be the timing of that cold front uh to trigger these storms or if we get a Lake Breeze boundary uh we can maybe see more action uh happening across Southern Ontario but right now it's more so confined to Northeastern Ontario and sections of Western Quebec where we still have ongoing tornado warnings and I just want to point out that the tornado warning for Timmons uh and ear qua Falls um it's upgraded to include a golf ball siiz hail so we went from ping pong to golf ball siiz hail um 100 km perh wind gust along with the threat for a tornado um and it's also moving East at 70 kilm per hour so they're still moving quite fast all right I think we do have our storm Hunters standing by I'm not too sure if our producer can let us know if we have Mark Robinson standing by there you are Mark you're in the car on your way let us know what your plan is and uh what we can be expecting for the afternoon well you know I had a big decision to make uh I had to be on either the the Barry side of things was was it stay on you know the western side of Lake Simco or do I go on to the Eastern side of Lake Simco now instead of looking at all the different parameters I think the Eastern side of the lake uh has a just a little bit more wind shear uh which means that we'll have a little bit better chance at those isolated supercells uh so we're aiming for that it's not as good Chase territory of course try and intercept those storms let people know what's going on uh CU of course it's you know towards Cottage Country a lot of you know trees Etc uh but there is some areas we want to make sure that we get into the areas uh we can let people know what's going on uh but I can tell you you know we're sitting at 31° on the car right now uh the humidity is just right up there as well so all of that fuel absolutely in place uh across uh you know the whole Berry region of course as that front comes down you're going to have that potential trigger that's where we're headed going to see if we can get over there and just see how we do uh and see what we're going to see uh as we get in as this you know this uh entire front begins to come down south towards us awesome Mark well hopefully your drive is a safe one um and we'll check in with you periodically throughout our live stream uh we'll let Mark Barrel his way up towards Barry um and hopefully get some great viz back um but Mark is a professional stormchaser so let him go out and storm Chase uh you just need to get home safe from work kick your feet up continue watching our live stream we will show you uh all the coverage that we can uh Melinda has the the current conditions and like Mark was mentioning uh 31 in Windsor 30 in Toronto uh that hot soupy muggy atmosphere uh that is going to give rise to our severe weather today absolutely right even like subur 25° which means humx values are definitely warmer than these temperature values as well so this is the fuel like Rachel mentioned for our storms we're going to continue to track as we head into the evening hours once again Rachel let's a quick look here at the current tornado warnings so we're still looking at the one for Cochran Timmons and the uh Aira Falls region that's the entire Zone here but in terms of the overall uh actual system that we are tracking of thunderstorms it looks like it's slowly now starting to cross over the Quebec border here in terms of the overall uh statement here Rachel uh if you can just quickly go over that as well uh yeah are we talking about the Timmons one I was just having a look at the Quebec one but let me go uh let me go back to the timens one so the timens one we're talking about uh a potential tornado uh just north of eay Eid um and it's moving East at 80 kilometers per hour that's where we have that golf ball siiz hail threat uh up to 100 km perh winds especially ahead of that Boeing section uh when you see a line like this uh wind gusts are definitely going to be an issue uh but there is embedded rotation within this line of storm so that is why it's tornado warned it will be crossing the Quebec border shortly I know that this is a big area that is warned Timmons is in the clear uh if you are east of Highway 11 you do seem like you are in the clear it's or sorry west of Highway 11 uh but towards the east right where Melinda circled here that is where we have uh that rotation signature that hail signature uh definitely don't want to be towards the east of that area and then also as we head further south uh we have more storms popping up along this line where you see those blacks that is indicative of some large hail like I said environment Kanda has worned up to golf ball sized and then as we go into Quebec we are eating up all of that Shear just like Mark talked about so all of these storms this is more of a supercell that really big one that has purple uh just north of uh yeah just right there where Melinda is circled uh that storm is tornado warned um it does appear that there is rotation we did see a very strong large hail signature on it again moving towards the east um and uh really all of these storms that are kind of near these even that one towards the east here uh those ones also look like they could be developing some rotation too so um these are the supercells that you want to watch if you're in the path of them if you are in uh towards the east so south of Valor uh you definitely want to stay prepared uh get off the roadways get inside um as we continue to track these uh these systems moving towards the east and they're very fast moving too Rachel they're moving at around 80 km per hour so very fast Moving Systems so these are just a few that we're keeping our eye on in terms of rotation that I've just circled here for us but there are a few more uh down towards the South producing quite a bit of heavy rainfall even the potential for a little bit of some hail also just quickly move over uh to the region of Wawa where we're tracking a storm also this is a severe thunderstorm warned rather looks like a little bit of hail and very strong winds in that segment as well and then down towards the South this is the one that we've been keeping our eye on it's moved quite far in the past hour or two now impacting areas like bankrupt down towards Talib Burton and looks like another one just popping up here uh just north of Graven south of Graven rather North uh looks like it's a bit more East off of the highway highway 11 there so that's one now starting to pop up and then across the South we're not really seeing much but look at this this is what we were talking about on radar uh over the shores of Lake Huron so definely a little bit of some bubbling up here in terms of the energy and yes these will definitely make their way Eastward very fast moving so I wouldn't be surprised if they're on Shore within the next hour or so Rachel and these are going to continue to move in Eastward Direction look at these down here towards the South yeah it's really a widespread threat we're talking about Ontario Quebec and also down throughout the states as that cold front slices through um we did have a question on our YouTube stream they're wondering what kind of hail is expected so if we take a look at our risk map um just so that you can get an idea if you're in the red that's where we're looking at the largest hail so tuny maybe pingpong size hail and then if you're in the orange uh maybe nickel to tuny sized hail so uh the red highlighted region is uh that severe likely that's where you'll have the best Dynamics for uh good lift um that allows us to house larger hail so maybe up to that tuny pingpong uh sized hail with these storms as they kind of make their way towards the South yeah absolutely right let quickly show you uh here what the classification means so as you mentioned pingpong size and as well golf ball uh so around four to four and a qu in ter terms of uh sizewise but yes this is what we could be expecting anywhere from P to potentially ping pong like you mentioned and yes and some of the warnings there's is potential for golf ball but more so where we have the Dynamics more of that moisture and more of that wind Shure also Rachel yeah that really big cell that's tornado warned in uh Southern Quebec is making its way towards grassy narrow at the moment um again like you said moving quite quickly so could be uh quite eminent if you're looking up and you see some uh dark sky definitely getting doors away from Windows that is very important uh but you can kind of see uh some of the radar scans it's trying to hook but it's more so hail spikes that I'm noticing uh on on the radar uh but it's making its way like I said north of grassy narrow towards the east um and then we'll also be looking at an area of rotation near raped Set uh that one is the one that's just to the east of that big big storm so yeah these ones are also the ones that I was mentioning uh there's some rotation on both of them making their way towards the east both of these storms are south of Valor um I'm also noticing uh some rotation that is uh near nway so uh kind of more cluster uh but farther towards the north um lots of Shear being picked up across Quebec Quebec is definitely seeing uh an intensification of their supercells uh not so much Ontario just yet but I'm I'm assuming in the next hour things are going to be getting underway across the South like we mentioned we'll keep an eye on any sort of uh Lake breezes that come up across Georgian Bay um across Lake hon uh that's where we could maybe get uh an initialization before the cold front comes in so that will be our Prime concern yeah absolutely right rachela I'm just qu trying to find here the satellite here we go of the past hour so yes definitely seeing a lot more of that bubbling up here a bit of some down towards the South definitely these storms are starting to initiate over Lake Huron and they are going to move uh just Eastward like we've been mentioning definitely around 80 kilm per hour there's that storm cluster we've been talking about it continues to move through bankr looks like it's definitely starting to shrink as it continues to move East and that will help with uh the storms that are moving in behind it of course I think that's why we're playing a game of uh how strong our triggers are usually it's what is our environment going to be like are all of our parameters going to be lined up but they're lined up Melinda uh but now we're talking about okay do we have that sharp trigger the sharpest trigger is the cold front it's a little bit delayed for southern Ontario it is currently making its way across Northeastern Ontario and parts of Quebec so that's why we're seeing some tornado warnings across the South we're seeing some uh rather weaker triggers but like you mentioned uh those storms bubbling up across Lake hon don't count the those out they're making their way towards the Bruce Peninsula and we are picking up some rotation over top of Lake Kiron making their way towards the east so it's that very last cell um as you can make maybe move it to the earliest radar scan there it is so that very last cell towards the right um that one has uh been circled by our meteorologists um and these systems are making their way towards the Bruce Peninsula so if you're on the Bruce Peninsula uh now is the time to to get prepared uh definitely start to stay inside uh we're going to be watching these storms as they make their way towards you you definitely we'll be seeing um the thunderstorms will monitor the risks for tornadoes uh but I those ones that we're bubbling up over the Lakes uh definitely don't count those out yeah absolutely right so now we're watching a few of these storms not only across uh the Northeast there but also that potentially be moving over us uh in the next couple of minutes or the next hour or so um I'm just going to quickly uh change gears here and talk about what we can be expecting for tomorrow because yes we're still looking at the energy for the overnight hours across majority of the 401 Corridor as our coldfront slowly starts to sink Eastward uh we're still looking at the heavy amounts of rainfall the large hail the strong winds as well and far M has stated that winds could be gusted upwards to0 km per hour Within These individual thunderstorms Now by Friday the cold front continues to move East so down towards the GTA along the 401 Corridor across majority of Southern Ontario it's more so going to be non- severe storms and they are going to be pop up in nature so not everyone will be seeing one for Friday it's more so where we have to keep our eye on areas like Montreal Quebec uh Quebec City rather up along the St lawrenceburger the gaspy region and towards areas of New Brunswick down towards uh just north of fton Woodstock Edmundston bathroom Mir Mishi these are the regions where we definitely want to keep our eye on so as we head into your Friday afternoon here look at these storms along that Cal front of lots of clusters moving through individual storm cells it comes to be a little bit more organized heading into late Fridays over on the fton region meishi as well and that threat will slowly start to diminish as we lose DET time heating into your late Friday evening so definitely keep your eyes to the sky for Friday afternoon if you are and new uh New Brunswick or the Eastern townships of Quebec or up towards the North like the gas Bay or the gaspy region also that's definitely going to be uh one of the triggers for Friday all right well that covers tomorrow uh you're definitely going to want to tune in if you are across Quebec and New Brunswick tomorrow like you mentioned uh Melinda all of this same setup is just going to shift towards the east uh but right now what we have we have a digging trough we have high moisture I'm sure you've been outside today or at least rolled your windows down uh you can feel that mugginess in the air and that's all going to be picked up by uh our fronts that's moving through uh throughout this evening so we do have tornado warnings still in place uh for areas in the Timmons region more so east of Timmons east of the highway uh as that storm tracks over the Border in the coming moments making its way East at around 70 or 80 kmph uh the storm that has probably the best structure is in uh the Vil Marie area um and that one is also tornado warned in Southwestern Quebec uh it does show quite a bit of a good hail Spike on that storm so we are anticipating um some pretty good hail if you zoom into this storm you can see that little Spike right there uh that's what the radar is picking up and when when that happens uh we're we're kind of looking at that large hail as a risk uh it's more so that spikee that's shooting outwards uh so this storm has golf ball-sized hail warned on it so that's the biggest uh amount of hail we've seen in a warning so far today uh but we're also talking about locally heavy rainfall uh and also the threat for a tornado because this storm is rotating absolutely right so not only we're tracking that one up towards the north this is the one that we've been seeing here that slowly made its way over Timmons and capis sing and up towards EA Falls Cochran the past hour or two and now it's slowly starting to shift into Quebec where yes they've been seeing a lot of these storms so if you are in the lasar region uh please forgive me if you are pronouncing your cities wrong once again uh these regions could definitely be uh severely uh tornado warned rather by environment in Canada as that storm inches closer because we're still tracking quite a bit of rotation on it also and like Rachel mentioned the one down here towards the South and Ville Marie but still widespread severe thunderstorm warnings in play here Kirkland Lake uh down towards to Mami haleybury also and even portions of Quebec we're still seeing quite a bit of thunderstorms even behind the system Rachel lots of these Wawa and then down towards Elliot Lake we're still looking at a line pushing through also and these are tracking into uh an environment that is going to uh allow for the storms to intensify there we go Bruce Peninsula is now severe thunderstorm warn so I'm glad we caught that uh hopefully if you're in that area you already uh had that little bit of a leg up these storms are going to be tracking over the Bruce Peninsula um I'll get the details on that but we also have a severe thunderstorm warning for the bankr region this one I'm a little bit less concerned about maybe seeing some smaller hail uh we're going to watch the next couple radar scans to see if there's any embedded rotation because it's in that uh tornado watch Zone uh but those ones looking quite healthy over Lake hiron uh heading towards the Bruce Peninsula so um Tober and areas around that region uh these systems are making their way towards you I'll see what kind of hail is uh associated with them I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking at something like nickel or tuny sized yeah absolutely R probably the next hour or so roach we'll be tracking these uh moving on short areas just along Highway 69 Perry Sound even a little bit more further north you'll be looking at these storms in the next hour or so so definitely uh Keep Your Eyes to the Sky like we've been chatting about here lots of ongoing action uh the tornado warning in uh the Timmons region has now dropped okay so that was expected because that system is now moved on uh it's bowed out it's making its way into Quebec at the moment uh definitely not a storm you want to be caught in the middle of uh but Timmons does seems like it's in the clear so that is good news uh but anybody that is towards the east of these storms uh you're definitely um not in the clear so definitely going to want to have a plan uh or get inside especially if you're in that pink region just looking at the severe thunderstorm warning apologies for back jumping around there's lots to cover have a look at this big area that me and molinda are covering uh just looking at that severe thunderstorm warning tracking onto the Bruce Peninsula uh I'd be interested to see what the satellite looks like with those cuz those are probably getting quite vertical um that is uh warned for up to tuny sized hail at the moment um and again tracking towards the east so uh those ones we're going to keep a close watch on um there's that bubble you can kind of see it kind of reminds you of like a Boiling Pot um and that's just showing that these these clouds are getting vertical they're going up um there's not much stopping these storms from getting strong today yeah really it's going to be moving into into an area rather that's going to be looking at a lot more wind share especially down towards here peris down wankan region so uh these could potentially be getting a little bit more severe as they uh cross over Georgian Bay and make their way over towards uh areas on Shore over like area 69 also Highway 69 rather okay nice um so the the area that's in effect for that new uh severe thunderstorm warning Bruce Peninsula Sao Beach and Tober uh good news Timmons is now out of the tornado warning but that healthy cell that I told you that very healthy looking uh supercell still tornado warned in Southwestern Quebec oh yeah you also mentioned that lot of hail on that also Lots yeah definitely looks like and we seeing a signature for rotation also uh so that's going to be going to continue so now we have Mark once again he is still out on the road barring it down there's that vertical we were talking about Mar yeah absolutely look at that not sure if you heard us talking earlier Mark but we were talking about uh some of the storms over Lake Huron they're now coming to be a bit more stronger and definitely looking a lot more vertical on satellite all right I think we got you now Mark what are you seeing out there can hopefully you can hear me now I'm in Orelia I've actually stopped just for a second um you can actually see uh a cell beginning to go up over a really it's a little tricky to see because we've got a lot of trees in us but we're going to be coming up over the bridge in a second I'll see if we can find a place to stop to show you what's going on but the interesting thing about this is sort of on the western side of the cell can see the updrafts on this cell they're pretty healthy like they're really Sol looks like it looks like a head of cauliflower good solid head of cauliflower but just on the Eastern side a little more wispy which means that we're just it's not it doesn't have the oomph really at this point to really really get uh up there and push really hard uh but that is beginning to change as soon as we get that good forcing uh and I think I can pull over uh right oh no can't pull over right here um but what we've got there maybe can see it right now a look uh you can sort of see the bottom of that that that bottom of that cell for a second so I can point some stuff out for you um you can sort of see the the bottom of that right there right in there you can see that's fairly close to the ground which means that it's pulling from that rich moist Rich very warm very moist area uh right against the sort of the the the ground that's where we want the storm to be pulling from uh at the same time you know you it's going to take a I think a little bit more forcing to get things going but we already are starting to see that so if we jump over to Lake hon those cells are part of that front that's the pulse that I'm expecting to kick off the cells uh you know all the way across uh you know Central and Eastern Ontario so that is moving towards us I think we have a little bit of time to wait still uh before it gets down to us before it get that really good force and you get these really good storms up but this this is a good indication um that the atmosphere is primed to produce some significant th storms yeah you echoed everything that we mentioned Mark uh in those low bases these storms are not elevated so that's why we have uh a heightened risk of a tornado threat because these uh Cloud bases can reach the surface um Mark is in an area where we 2,500 Jews of Cape uh so like we mentioned uh you're probably driving and seeing these storms just blow up absolutely vertically like you're seeing in Mark's shot here um Mark do we still have you yes I'm still here okay lovely um so you're still um making your way towards the oelo region has your area of attack changed at all well I mean the big question was like I'm actually in aelia now I'm sort of what I'm going to try and do is of get to the east side of Aurelia get away from the traffic a little bit um I want to head south into the Farmland a bit because seeing stuff around the trees you know you can't really see too much at the same time it can be quite dangerous if you've got a storm you can't see just looking at trees you don't know what's over there so I want to get to the East Side get out of the the traffic area a little bit and there is going to be a bit of a waiting game as these ones come down uh but the big question is if we do see an isolated cell like this one over top of aelia if this one really gets going it's those isolated cells that can be the most dangerous uh because those ones are the ones that can gather all the fuel all the thing from around around the their environment around them uh and those ones can spin those ones can turn into a full supercell quite easily so that's what we really have to watch for those are also fairly hard to to forecast for and that's why we're out here I want to may be able to to see these storms and let you know what we're seeing you know when you're looking on radar you can't necessarily tell how close to the to the ground that base is but when I'm out here I can show you yeah this one is uh you know potentially dangerous this is one that we're going to you know carefully watch um at this point with this Aurelia cell I will be sort of watching that one for the next little while um and we're going to see if that's going to do something all right awesome Mark we will check back in with you as we continue our live stream coverage like Mark was mentioning uh all of these storms are just starting to pop around southern Ontario or sink a little bit farther south we do have uh severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for the Bruce Peninsula and then we have those pop-up cells in and around Aurelia all the way out to bankr as well uh so we're starting to see a little bit of Dynamics across Southern Ontario uh but the bigger Dynamics definitely still well to the north absolutely right Rachel up towards uh places like Timmons we saw uh that tornado warning the past hour or so has now the tornado warning has now dropped for that location as it continues to make its way over the Ontario Quebec border here this is the storm cell uh strong winds are definitely one of the main factors with this and then even down towards uh just behind it to the West here waa Marathon uh just south of Tim in's capis and you're seeing storms bubbling up once again behind this uh so another round of storms on the way this is going to continue as the Dynamics there are very strong lots of that heavy rainfall because very high moisture content in our atmosphere we're also seeing those temperatures that are also quite high for this time of year and that's helping to fuel the storms and give way to the instability that we need to help uh fuel these storms they continue to travel Eastward now we've been tracking a few of these uh here's some more down towards the South just south of Sudbury uh South Elliot Lake as well Long Highway 17 now starting to cross over and then the ones we have been tracking that is now warned here Thunder severe thunderstorm warned rather um along the Bruce Peninsula including areas like to moris H Beach these ones are getting quite vertical and even the ones that we mentioned with Mark just north of aelia here this he's in aelia these are the storms he's seeing uh I'll just between Highway 11 and 35 there between did Eng grave even one up towards Dorset we're tracking these also now and then this is the one that has moved actually it did start over midin and Perry Sound I guess over the past two hours now it's now made its way over banro over Highway 28 so this is what we're tracking now it is uh severe thunderstorm warned by Environment Canada so we're definitely going to keep our eye on that but in terms of rotation ratio what we're still seeing the one up towards Quebec am I correct yes so that one is still tornado warned um it is still rotating you can see a little bit of that hook feature now um large hail was picked up on radar as well uh with a hail Spike continuing to move quite quickly towards the east um let me have a look on where exactly that storm is because it was passing just north of I believe Grassy Lake uh let me get on my radar scope here um oh sorry grassy narrow it is just North of grassy narrow um and that storm is tornado warned likely producing uh up to pingpong ball siiz hail so that is the system that is tornado warned we do have areas of embedded rotation really across all of these storms as you head into Valor and areas north um so keeping a close watch on those um but we're also going to maybe direct our Focus to that uh severe thunderstorm in near bankof uh it does look like we could be seeing some rotation picking up on that whether that means um any sort of tornado threat uh well it is in a tornado watch so we're going to have to keep a close watch on this uh likely producing hail across bankra uh really this line is right over the highway in and out of bankra uh so that system is starting to develop rotation keep a close watch on it if you're in the path of it um definitely be prepared for all of these storms are going to be enhancing we're not going to be talking about storms that are diminishing in strength anymore uh they they're all going to be developing in the next hour so if you see a storm headed towards you uh expect it to intensify as it gets towards you we're not going to see these um diminish in strength until the sun goes down so around that 7 8:00 hour so we are right down in prime time uh severe thunderstorm in the bankr region continuing to move towards the east keeping a close watch on that um we're looking at more so a wind threat now in uh Northeastern Ontario as that boat out uh as we mentioned um starting to develop here and then uh yeah our tornado warn storms so uh the cluster of storms making their way onto Shore for the Bruce Peninsula uh those ones are again still uh severe thunderstorm warant uh and those have um some nickel uh size hail nickel probably to tuny size hail um Coming ashore shortly yeah looks like the thund from Waters have also been extended a bit more East also along Highway 7 Smiths falls into the nation it's Capital Russell Hawks B all the way stretching there so it looks like we are going to be anticipating potential for the storm to track it's also tracking Eastward like we mentioned and around I believe 80 km per hour uh so definitely in this area we could be looking at severe storms popping up in nature as we head into the next couple hours or so we do have an updated statement from Environment Canada now on the tornado warning that's in Quebec there are no tornado warnings currently in Ontario just going to put that out there for you uh but the one that's ongoing in Quebec uh this system is possibly producing a tornado with uh damaging winds large hail and intense rainfall so the radar is indicating that there are two areas uh of rotation that are possibly producing tornadoes um like I mentioned just a few kilometers north of grassy narrow and another one near raped SE so these are those uh two systems that we've been highlighting that one very big supercell that had the hail Spike uh just north of grass narrow and then raped set that one had another supercell looked a little bit smaller in nature uh but it is uh showing rotation uh maybe a little bit of a hook we'll see uh but if you see any sort of funnel cloud or hear any roaring sound uh that means that it's time to get inside you definitely don't want to be outside um like we mentioned these storms are moving quite quickly so expect your weather to be changing quite rapidly yeah absolutely right Rachel now overall just quickly take you over the Dynam Dynamics at play of what exactly um is triggering these storms now we have the moisture ritual that is one of the key ingredients as to why we're seeing such large siiz hail and of course the wind shear that's another thing that we look at where it's uh winds at different levels at different speeds in our atmosphere and when we get that that means that we could be looking at uh rotation developing along that supercell and then as we know a tornado uh can develop from that and then you know make its way onto the ground of course but quite a bit of moisture associated with these storms let's take a quick look here at the current conditions actually as we head into uh this is actually current data right now 30 degrees in the city of Toronto 31 degrees in Windsor I'm glad we're in air conditioning right now Rachel uh 29 in St Catherine's 23 degrees in musoka so with this the humx values are definitely a little bit more on the higher side than this even Ottawa sitting at around 22 so very warm uh currently and we're approaching 5:00 here so lots of that heat that instability it's still building um but in terms of the overall Cape as you mentioned earlier you can see those Reds that's very high levels of Cape that's going to continue into the evening yes you can see the red starting to diminish uh but still looking at some oranges that's going to help sustain the storms along that cold front as it continues to sink southwards and that's why we're looking at the overnight risk for the storm as this coldfront is actually a bit more slow moving than we thought initially so areas right up along the 401 Corridor Windsor Hamilton GTA Kingston Ottawa up into portions of Southern Quebec that's where we're going to be looking at a threat for overnight storms or possible they're still going to be severe but it's more so going to be a rain event and some Gusty winds yeah and like you mentioned the cold front is a little bit slow moving a little bit lagging behind but it's all of these triggers that are ahead of the cold front and it's taking advantage of some dry air aoft so what that does is it allows all of this Gusty jet stream that's right over top of Ontario to funnel down towards the surface and that's why we're seeing the risk for damaging winds uh winds over 100 kmers per hour and also like we mentioned the storms that are ahead of the cold front they're moving quite quickly picking up on all of this wind speed to heading towards the east uh so we it's all of those triggers that are right in front of the the cold front we have a shortwave trough uh that we're dealing with currently we also are going to keep a watch on any Lake breezes that develop across Lake hiron and into Georgian Bay uh those are all smaller triggers but they could have a very strong localized effect yeah even just Tak a quick look here at the potential for Hail you can see up towards the north areas like just north of tudbury Timmons Valor and to mon L even the bankr region where we're tracking uh that current severe thunderstorm worn cell looking at potential for some hail as we continue into the day today and towards uh the afternoon hours but in terms of the overall setup once again this is a current look at the energy if I just quickly pause the uh satellite and just show you how dark of Hues these Reds are right now this is current energy in their atmosphere and then putting back on the satellit that's showing you the individual storm cells or more so of a cluster now um down towards there like Tim are we tracking that sell quec where that warning is also and these are the ones down moving over the Bruce Peninsula so you can see it has a lot of that vertical uh look to it which is going to help the development with these storms and even down towards b craft also yeah taking a look at the the surface Cape that we have available currently on our mesoanalysis here um yeah we're looking well above two 2,000 Jews uh and what that means is we've got energy we have plenty and then some so uh a lot of these storms are going to be um popping very vertically uh and are going to be developing rather quickly um so if you are in line of any of these storms you're definitely going to want to get off the roadways get inside this is not something you really want to be driving in either um also having a look I believe we have some new severe thunderstorm warnings that are now popping in across areas of Ontario so we have uh across the Bruce Peninsula this is is just about to uh reach the Bruce peninsula north of wiron over tobermore um this is where we have um ping pong siiz hail um that is warned on this cluster of storms uh but if you head a little bit further to the east it looks like that a really a storm that Mark was on uh has now been warned along with the bank storm so um areas that are in effect uh Hall Burton Highway 35 um it like we mentioned that system really only developed further so got even more vertical even stronger oh yeah absolutely right so definitely a WID for area including uh just west of Bob Cajun halber Minden Bank like you mentioned along Highway 35 here Mark said he was going just east of the lake so he'll be having a great view of the storms in the distance so we'll chat with him coming up soon but there's another one here bit of a cluster it's not warranted yet it's in the tornado watch region but it's not severely uh sever thunderstorm warn yes it's just south of Midland Southwest of Midland definitely producing quite a bit of rain but o look at these Rachel these are the ones we've been tracking over uh Georgian Bay they're looking at definitely getting into the darker Hues of purple even a little bit of some black on that so definitely we could be looking at a little bit of some hail even poti for a little bit of rotation on that over water it's now moving over Georgian Bay and we have looks like I have Mark Now setting up he's in a parking lot somewhere yeah we'll let him set up in a minute but I'm sure what we're going to be looking at is how tall these storms are I'm sure of it um these Cloud tops are going to be well close to the surface and all the way up into the atmosphere we're talking about uh kilometers high uh with overshooting tops so um it does look like we have Mark now um okay awesome Mark uh I guess you're up near Aurelia and those much chasing but stumbled upon um are now severe thunderstorm warned so what are you seeing uh well you know I want to take you off to the West um we sort of have two areas of storms there's St storms to the east those are sort of Disappearing um so I don't want to keep going after those ones especially as we get into that Cottage Country area I want to do right now is take you off to the West you can see that storm is really building up and can actually see a little bit of an anvil at the very top um that's basically where the jet stream is taking the top off the storm and actually helping to exhaust the air out of it so sort of the air that's all sort of gone up condensed turned into cloud and rain is actually being pushed away from where the main updraft area is and that means the storm continues to power itself up and that's really what we're looking at really good spot to watch this it is coming towards the Aurelia area this storm a little bit more isolated as well so this is going to be able to gather the fuel from all around it so I'm going to stick right here for the for the next little while as this storm comes towards us um again can't see the base yet but it will if it if it uh if it's as it's moving East If It Moves even just a little bit south of that East it's going to come right over top us so if you are in Aurelia um you know be prepared for severe thunderstorm warnings to potentially come out uh in the next fairly short time period yeah it was about to mention Mark um you know a lot of this is happening quite quickly do you anticipate uh a time frame that this is going to be making its way towards Aurelia well I'm just taking a quick look on my radar right here I mean I'm going to guess within the next like half hour um it's definitely like it's sort of hitting Midland at the moment uh so it does have a little uh little ways to go um to as it goes towards uh Aurelia but the the issue that I see of course is once it's on sort of the other side of Georgian Bay then it's going to be tapping into that really really good air that we're sitting in right here uh and that's when it may really get going so even though it's you know still fairly far away as I said over in Midland um as it comes towards Aurelia it is going to be tapping into it it is going to be maturing uh and when those storms are mature that's when they're potentially that they're most dangerous all right awesome Mark well we'll keep in touch with you in the next uh few minutes or so as we continue to watch keep everybody take a snapshot of what that looks like now because I swear in 10 minutes that is going to be um even more impressive than what it is right now and Mark has a perfect view not a lot of trees in sight like you mentioned here he goes taking a photo probably for his Twitter uh you can follow Mark uh at his handle at storm Hunter tww um and we'll continue to watch how this cell develops but what is a little bit concerning is that it is making its way towards Aurelia Melinda and uh it's around that five o'clock hour where a lot of folks are traveling north into Barry are traveling up the 400 um maybe even heading to the cottage I'm heading to the cottage after this if you can believe it um but this is something that you're going to want to be aware of so that you're not taken off guard if you are on the roads um even though it's not severe thunderstorm warned at the moment uh it's looking quite impressive um a lot of these storms are going to look more impressive on the ground than what they look like on radar because they're going up they're not precipitating out so they're developing and they're getting explosive and getting very very tall uh so what you see on the ground is likely going to be more impressive than these radar scans uh but these radar scans I'm I'm impressed to be honest especially that bankr storm and that storm uh east of Aurelia uh these ones have really picked up in the last maybe 20 30 minutes or so yeah they have you you even see like a little dot here of purple which means quite a bit more heavy heavier rainfall even potential for some hail there just keeps getting stronger and stronger darker Hues of red that continues also and the one over georgean uh the uh gry bruise peninsula here that continues also it is looking to make its way a bit more East also so definitely if you are traveling in over uh Highway 69 in the coming hour or so definitely want to keep your eyes to the sky cuz that one will be moving over there shortly and up towards the north I guess we still have this tornado warning in place want to make sure that's correct we still have a tornado warning in place and actually there's a pretty good hooks on these storms that are out um in Quebec right now um in the juiciest environment they have the strongest trigger um that tornado worn storm has just passed north of grassy narrow continuing to make its way towards raped Set uh but there's lots of areas of rotation um it's kind of hard to pick one uh but the one that's kind of east of that just south of valdor that one's having some pretty good rotation on it as well um luckily there's not a lot of folks that live out here so um if it was a little bit F farther north i''d be a little more concerned um but if you know anybody in this area definitely make sure to give them a call I know sometimes um our our signal is uh is quite uh hid and miss and then there's that big bow section that's where we're looking at damaging winds and you can see that it's all barreling right behind IND these severe worn thunderstorms and it expands we're talking kilometers and kilometers maybe uh tens of kilometers from uh sections of Quebec All the Way South into Ontario uh so those storms are still quite healthy um again moving into quite a good environment but we are just getting going across Southern Ontario so if you're just joining our stream um our sever thunderstorm warnings have popped in across South and Eastern Ontario uh now is the time you're going to want to pay P attention stay off the roadways get home uh early if you can hopefully you are already home with your feet up watching our live stream uh because we have a widespread uh tornado watch that's in place and that includes areas like Barry Orangeville uh areas north of the GTA and all the way out into bankr and that's where we're seeing now severe thunderstorm warnings picking up we just saw Mark uh seeing very good vertical development just off of uh Georgian Bay in the uh Orelia area will be keeping a close watch on those storms but this is what we saw earlier today and that Tim in storm was tornado warrant Melinda yeah definitely you can see those Hues of green there which means a little bit of hail some stronger winds associated with that that that storm is a one we just mentioned where you can see that bow line which means quite strong winds that enters areas of a western Quebec so definitely that's going to be something we may see uh later down towards Ontario as we come into the next couple of hours because things are heating up temperatures are into the low 30s look at that 32 already in Windsor which means humidx values are into the mid-30s there wind uh London rather 28° and Ottawa seeing a little bit of some rain at 22 so we're already uh we've got that heat the instability and we're at just going to keep continuing and if you see a site like that definitely stay away from Windows get inside because that looked like quite a healthy cell uh we have a new tornado warning now in effect for Valor we were just mentioning uh areas of rotation in and around that region uh pretty good hook on that system uh again all of these storms are moving towards the east uh it is the system that passed through Rapid set so it is uh just east of Rapid Set uh and south of valdor um and then we also have another system that is just uh behind that went uh just north of grassy Narrows so those two uh have the strongest area of rotation again they are in uh Southwestern Quebec uh two very good supercells have a look at this hook Melinda I know you can't see it on on there but uh just on this like very high res radar um that hook is looking pretty healthy if you ask me but again it is south of valdor so that is good news um the town is not um going to be impacted but Al although it will be seeing some pretty heavy rain and probably very high vertical structure as well uh again these systems are moving towards the east uh not expecting that to impact valdor but maybe areas uh south of Lac Simo um this cell and then the next cell that's behind it that's making its way towards Rapid set yeah so it's definitely this one right here but unfortunately you can't really see it on this but on the one we're checking out now you can definitely see a little bit of that hook right there if you can highlight that hook right there um right in here that's uh likely where that uh that tornado why the system is tornado warned when you get that kind of uh shape um along with the uh threat for very l or sorry large hail uh we're talking about pingpong siiz hail out in this region we did have a question on our YouTube uh channels about let me just find it um if storms are possible in Montreal uh these storms are definitely well to the west of Montreal um Montreal is not in a severe thunderstorm watch or any sort of warnings uh so it does look like you are in the clear for this evening uh but as Melinda showing we will be looking at that cold front slicing through uh more so overnight yeah overnight that's when that c front moves in like R just mentioned there uh right up along the FL Corridor including Montreal so it's going to be around uh 11 10 uh 12:00 in the morning there we'll be looking at at the heavy downpours not really going to be seeing the daytime heating CU of course it's going to be late into the midnight hours but we still have the instability to fuel the thunderstorm so yes lots of lightning even some hail uh and quite a bit of lightning also Thunder I mentioned uh so we'll be looking at that continuing for areas like Ottawa Montreal up throughout Quebec there and as we talk up a little bit more into Friday we'll be looking at some stormers popping up down towards the Eastern townships of Quebec and New Brunswick that's what we're going to be keeping our eye on for severe storms for Friday so areas uh like Montreal will be more so impacted when the severe weather ingredients diminish so overnight tonight but the severe weather ingredients are definitely present uh we have a new tornado warning now that is just south of bankrupt so that same system that we said that we were going to keep a close watch on it was experiencing rotation it is now uh tornado warned so kaladar uh Bon Echo Park uh that that is a new tornado warning that has just been uh published by Environment Canada we're talking about damaging winds large hail intense rainfall and a chance for a tornado uh so again if you're in this region it's time to get inside uh this system is again south of bankr and north of madic maybe we can show uh that radar there Melinda yeah absolutely just quickly zoom in here for us there we have it there it is there it is press place so so we can see it move through oh yeah look at that developing uh well North of Highway 7 but barreling towards Highway 41 so if you're traveling north or south uh of Highway 41 you're going to be uh in the way of uh this system here um I would assume that we're going to be looking at maybe tuny sized hail with this right now I'm sure if you're on the ground and you see this take a quick snapshot um if you're pulled over or getting into shelter uh I would love to see how vertical this sell is it's just a little bit outside of that radar um capabilities but uh it does look like we are seeing a pretty good area uh that pink that we were mentioning that reflectivity uh pretty good area for Hail development uh this is right over Gunter Ontario heading towards clone uh and harlo um so towards the east all righty thank you Rachel for that now so that means we have looks like it's three warning regions that where tracking for tornado warnings I'll just pause this here so down towards the set that we just talked about and then up and through Quebec we're tracking two of them that continue to move through but roughly Rachel these still systems are still moving quite fast at around 80 km per hour in an Eastward Direction let's check in Now with uh the ones over the peninsula here still moving quite nicely in an Eastward Direction still looking a little bit of some h of purple which means heavier rain rainfall even a little bit of signature for some hail are you still seeing any rotation there on the radar um uh a little bit it could be more so hail it's a little looking a little bit too cluster right now to uh to say um I would definitely say hail torrential downpours with that I'd be interested to see what that does once it gets onto maybe like the Perry Sound Shores once it passes through the Bruce Peninsula seeing some good development on that Midland storm as well lots of vertical development there and uh those storms that have just passed through Aurelia uh into Halton those are severe thunderstorm warned um those are definitely going to be developing they're tracking into a very good region of uh energy uh again like we mentioned not a lot of not a lot of ingredients that are going to stop these storms from developing especially in the coming hour uh so expect de continued development continued enhancement for all of these storms that you see um and we're going to keep a close watch on those uh Southern or sorry Eastern Ontario storms uh making their way towards the east uh and as we mentioned that new tornado warning uh down south of bankof yeah absolutely right this is the one that Mark actually has his eye on the one in Midland so he's in Orel just east of aelia rather and he's keeping his eye on that so if you are following him on Twitter I'm sure he's posting great visuals of that storm we'll check in with him momentarily but overall let's just talk quickly here about the setup for today so this is what we've been talking about this very primed enir enironment we have all the key ingredients we have the moisture we have the heat which is building instability uh we have the windsh which is winds at different speeds at different heights in our atmosphere so when we get supery systems this means that there is uh enough wind share that could produce rotation which of course can produce tornadoes if you are in these regions that have current tornado warnings on the ground on there uh this is some of the things that you can do you can head into your home I hope you are doing that already if not head inside you can go to a basement you can go to an interior room that doesn't have any Windows you can cover yourself with a mattress uh just things to keep you and your family safe now we've been talking about all these watches today here are just some of the differences now tornado watches that was in the brown color that we previously just showed so that means when the conditions are favorable for the development of severe storms uh with the potential for one or two tornado so it means pay close attention have your app handy have have your phone handy for those alerts when they come in and have a plan especially in your area if you're at work or home or you're just running to the store or whatever uh make sure you have a plan in place when a tornado warning is issued of course these alerts are issued by Environment Canada uh so when they are they are issued when a tornado has been reported or there is evidence that is seen on radar um that produces uh a little bit of rotation there so that means that tornado is imminent definitely take shelter immediately so once again the current tornado watches are for the regions of Valor oh warnings rather valdor uh vill Marie I believe as well vilmie Valor and then uh just south of bankra and that includes the kaladar region uh and uh bo Echo Park um we did have an update just with the discussion uh in the v Marie area um because they were tracking in that one region two potential tornadoes um it is now 25 kmers west of raped sep uh and it's moving around 50 km per hour so a little bit slower uh than what it previously was but large hail on that storm um and then we're going to continue to watch the storms across eastern Ontario develop and uh in perfect timing the person who's watching the storms develop uh in Easter or north and Eastern Ontario uh Mark Mark how is that uh mid mid storm developing at all uh not too bad now I was hoping that would get just a little bit more rotation on it right now looking a little bit Blobby uh but the big question is as it sort of passes uh like Simcoe does it get into that you know slightly better directional wind shear which could spin that core just that little bit uh which will turn it into a supercell which could get uh the same sort of uh you know same sort of storms we're seeing uh far to the east now the one interesting thing about that storm to the east uh near bankof that one started to spin up and potentially produce a tornado just after it passed my Cottage so I was watching that one very closely going come on don't do it don't do it don't and it was like it spun up and I know that the area east of my Cottage a lot of trees there so I'm hoping it's not going to go through anything anybody's Cottages or anything like that so fingers crossed on that uh but I want to take you off to the West for now we can see this storm um definitely starting to build a really nice Anvil uh you know Manny if you take the camera and sort of look up you can sort of see uh you know like that's the that's the lower that's side of the Anvil uh you know that's the the whole storm all that warm moist a going up into the storm and then sort of being shoved out of the storm in the jet stream so you're almost looking at that Anvil right there is basically uh the Jetstream level but if we come back down off to the north there uh that's the main core of the storm now the big question is um is it going to pass Aurelia to the north at this point that does look like what it's going to do is pass by aelia maybe a little further up a little closer to waso that's what we're watching with this one but we're in a pretty good position to watch it uh as it comes by that's when once we can see the base of the storm I'll you know we'll get a lot more Diagnostics on the Storm be able to see whether it's you know pulling all that moisture from the surface or whether it's just a little further up it's a little further up it's not quite as dangerous right close to the ground uh that means it's tapping into that surface layer which has got all the really really good fuel and that's what we're going to have to watch can be a bit tricky potentially to see that base and these storms they're moving fairly quickly so that's going to be the big question is like do we watch it Go by or can we follow it a little for a little while as it matures I'm kind of hoping it slows down a little bit Yeah so then you can catch up to it and Mark while you're there uh you were mentioning that the cloud bases were uh pretty low and that it's picking up a lot of that moisture and I'm sure you're feeling that heat and humidity on the ground right now yeah I mean definitely the other thing that I'm feeling on the ground which might not be as uh it for for me it tells me a little bit is the very very strong winds at the surface and that is part of that directional Shear that we're getting with the winds very strong winds at the surface usually give you a pretty good indication um that as we go up through the atmosphere those winds can get stronger and stronger and that all that wind moving into the storm that's just fueling that storm as it comes by and that's one of the best indications that I've got this storm uh may be you know getting mature and getting severe quickly all right right thank you so much Mark we will keep in touch with Mark as the systems continue to move towards the east uh they are impacting areas across Southern Ontario and we do have a tornado warning south of bankr that includes kaladar and Bon Echo Park now thank you so much for that Rachel now overall we were talking about the winds now here's a quick look at the peak 24 past 24 hours rather the peak winds gust upwards 50 to 60 km per hour down towards Toronto Windsor l London gu upwards to 70 has been reported towards Timmons I'm pretty sure that's when uh that system moved through yeah that bow moved through as exactly uh but we will be looking at some more stronger winds especially as that cold front continues to make its way down south now I'll just quickly show you here the current or current tornado warnings that we have in place this is the one for V Marie and Valor and then if I just track down to the South we have another one for the Kadar region also yeah and that storm is just North of Gunter Ontario heading towards cologne uh making its way towards the east so uh south of bankof but uh heading towards Highway for 41 I believe uh so well north of kaladar but it is showing um some good development trying to rotate uh likely that we're going to be seeing some hail with this nickel to maybe tuny sized hail uh and the storms that are following are also developing quite nicely uh around halberton Minden uh will be concerned for uh torrential downpours maybe even some strong wind gusts um very isolated with these cells as that gust front kind of pushes through um maybe some power outages as well with these storms as they make their way through Cottage Country um and then obviously that Midland system that um that Mark is talking about um like he said not rotating right now not severe thunderstorm warned I wouldn't be surprised though as it makes its way onto Shore it picks up on that uh the juice that's just lingering over uh the region and um maybe Dev develop even further yeah absolutely you're right it looks like in the next maybe around 20 30 minutes it's going to be tracking over the 400 one saying this is going to be north of Aurelia uh just south of mctier so if you are traveling in the next half an hour along the 400 definitely keep in mind that you'll be looking at heavy downpours you the potential for a little bit of hail as that system continues to move East around 80 CL PR hour this Minden storm is definitely traveling along um Highway 35 here so if you are in these regions and you you'll be looking at more heavier rainfall continuing and then of course the torado Warren system now starting to impact areas uh just north of 41 here and we're also seeing a little bit of some rain in areas like renew and down towards uh the nation's capital Canada Ottawa looking get some light rain um severe thunderstorm watches are in place for the nation's capital down towards the South but overall we're also tracking some super thorm watches down towards King Carden and Owen Sound but yes tornado uh watches are still in place for a majority of uh regions like New Market yeah that just got expanded actually in the last uh few maybe 10 minutes um yeah towards New Market innisville Barry um all the way up to halberton Algonquin um Smiths Falls I believe exactly so a little just slight uh slight enhancement of our tornado watches uh they have been in place since 9:00 a.m. so hope hopefully that gave you an an idea of what was to come and we can see that uh coming into fruition right now um as we can also have a look maybe if you can pull up the um the satellite uh I just want to show some possible areas where we could see some of the storms initiating if you can pull it right to maybe present anytime you see like these little bits of cloud that's like areas of convergence um a little bit like around Barry down to towards Orangeville um and then obviously that uh area towards bankra but uh you can kind of see that line from Barry all the way to London that's a little bit of convergence um so we'll be keeping a close wash on seeing if anything develops and then also kind of Barry north of Orangeville there too um so we do see a little bit of convergence happening across Southern Ontario but uh the main event is a little bit further north and east of the GTA at the moment uh but if you're in that region do expect uh some thunderstorm development in the next maybe 30 minutes to an hour or so all right perfect now we do have some visuals that our producers going to play for us this is the storm from Timmons that we saw I guess around that 2 3:00 hour that we've been tracking Thunder Bay look at this I don't think we have seen any warnings across Thunder Bay this does look like it was yesterday so I think this is as they were uh tracking yesterday they were more so in Northwestern Ontario and we had tornado warnings in Manitoba the same system is now making its way across uh Ontario and uh affecting Timmons uh earlier today and currently um producing hail and tornado warnings across Ontario all right that's a bit of a look back at yesterday and today and in terms of the storm the cloud the Dynamics the rain the Thunder and also the hail that we've been seeing now overall though temperatures are still into the 30s depending Where You Are Toronto 30° 32° in Windsor so lots of that uh temperatures are still quite warm the heat the humidity also continues and even places like Timmons around 17° we're still warming up slightly though even behind that cool front around that 2° so still warming up and we also do have trino warnings still in place we've been talking about the past hour or so Valor V Marie and then down towards the South so if you are in these areas this is kalidar here if you are in these areas you can head inside uh cover yourself with a mattress or a sleeping bag head into a basement lowest point in your building uh just to keep you and your family safe because that's our main priority keeping everyone safe um we did have a question on YouTube uh talking about something that you brought up earlier in the Stream but we can maybe hash it back out uh how dangerous are the black spots on radar reflectivity so we were mentioning um that you know we kind of go from that blue to Black on our radar uh what the black means is it well what it's showing is how intense the rainfall is what is reflecting back when we get into that high category we're seeing the pinks when we get to extreme we're seeing the blacks and typically that means uh that what's bouncing back towards the radar is hail uh because hail is a little bit bigger and denser uh than water droplets so uh typically that means you can expect very intense rainfall if not a large hail if you're seeing any sort of black uh radar heading towards you yeah thanks for that R we have another one there I believe yeah another one was talking about um New Market New Market and North always seem to get hit by good thunderstorms uh south of that York Toronto usually gets missed do you know why this is a common occurrence well well for today uh the trigger is well back uh towards more so Northeastern Ontario so what's triggering these storms uh we're talking about some short wave fronts maybe uh or sorry some short waves uh shortwave troughs and maybe some Lake breezes um but the the the ignition for today is the cold front and by the time the cold front gets to Toronto well it's overnight so you can kind of thank timing for that um we're it's not going to be impacting the GTA where we when we have the juiciest environment which is right now uh so it comes into a little bit of a timing effect uh for areas for the big storms to kind of Miss Toronto if you will yeah that's absolutely right you know we've been tracking these storms and even like the Dynamics there are more so around Cottage Country and dur WS the berry region uh the great Bruce area also that's where we're seeing the more gritter Dynamics yes we have the instability but we all need all those key ingredients to come together at the same time to produce uh you know tornadoes or even supercells and damaging systems yeah we definitely get our fair share remember uh some Lake Breeze triggered storms across the GTA caused lots of floodings years ago uh but the Great Lakes usually inhibit some storms or they play into they play into uh the severe uh the severity of storm so that's why we typically see them a little bit farther Inland where the water and the land uh air masses kind of meet and we get that directional wind shear uh we also get that wind shear that's enhanced by um the escarment which is well north of the GTA so areas like orange Barry typically get that flow off the escarpment and that enhances rotation as well uh so lots of little features come into play Toronto you will be seeing some of these storms but more so later uh towards the overnight um maybe around that 8 9:00 and onwards uh that's where we're hoping that our environment will diminish uh still looking at a widespread risk for some heavy downpours I think maybe torrential downpours uh we have so much moisture in the atmosphere uh and these storms like we mentioned really low bases tapping into this moisture so uh we're looking at heavy to torrential rainfall really across Southern Ontario then you can see into the evening uh we had that orange right over the GTA and you can you can feel this as like that heat and humidity that sticky air that's outside right now yeah absolutely right like you talked about those temperatures into the 30s across uh Ontario down towards the Toronto region GTA Windsor Southwestern Ontario are seeing those temperatures into the low3s so definitely that means the heat is there the moisture is there the humidity is there also I'm just looking for uh just a quicker one maybe we can zoom in a bit on the GTA conditions here with the temperatures just to get a closer look here oh yeah look at that 29 degrees in Hamilton 30° at Pearson the islands around 21 so yes the more Inland you go the warmer it will be away from the Lakes but that heat still continues and the winds they are going to start to pick up we've been seeing some stronger winds earlier today up towards Timmons with those storms that move through winds are down towards the GTA gust 50 to 70 km per hour definitely a breezier day uh than most days and then as that front moves through uh winds will be definitely getting quite stronger 5 to 70 km per hour definitely expected uh later into this evening yeah you can kind of feel the Winds of Change once the cold front does move through onario is looking at quite a beautiful weekend ahead for Father's day but we have to get through this first currently we have tornado warnings in place across sections of Southern Quebec these are super cells and they are experiencing the most amount of rotation that I'm seeing really across all of them we can see that hook uh and large hail with those but farther towards the south in Southern Ontario south of bankof we still have a uh tornado warning in place the system has just passed Gunter Ontario heading towards the east it is about to make its way north of Clone and harlo uh heading towards Highway 41 um it does look like we have quite a bit of hail with that system as well uh maybe upwards to pingpong ball size that one has developed quite nicely into uh quite a robust supercell uh torrential downpours as well so if your commute home takes you through Highway 41 uh North or South near clone uh you definitely want to maybe pull over or get inside um if you can avoid this sell uh it's definitely going to be um something you'd want to do this will continue to head over Highway 41 towards Highway 7 uh probably in the next 20 30 minutes yeah absolutely right there Rachel that's going to continue like you mentioned and then we're still keeping our eye on on these storms here this is just a current look at what's ongoing they're not warned by any means this is the one that just looks like it passed over the 400 so still very quite fast moving here still a little bit of rain along 400 but Mark is in aelia so he has has a great view of these storms and even the ones uh along Highway 35 up towards halberton just east of Minden now uh these storms are definitely still packing quite a punch but they're not severely warned but they are in the tornado watch region so we're still keeping our eye on them and even the ones we've been tracking here looks like a few more behind this has now developed and it's going to continue to track over the Bruce Peninsula and impact areas along uh Highway 69 shortly North of Perry Sound south of subury in that stretch there as we continue into the next couple of hours there up towards the north as well Rachel we're still looking at that same system that brought numerous tornado warnings it still look like it's giving off way strong winds up towards we have a lot going on here we have a a Boeing segment uh that passed through Timmons that was tornado warned that's well North now uh that's producing some probably very Gusty winds and then we have two or three supercells towards the south of it uh one south of Valor uh one passing through um through Rapid sep and then also North uh of grassy Narrows um and all of these are producing rotation on radar here's some footage uh in Quebec from earlier today you can see the heavy downpours uh quite saturated grounds the very dark low base clouds um that was from earlier today and that has just persisted towards the east these systems are moving quite quickly towards the east uh but again if you know anybody in these tornado warned areas uh these cells are looking quite dangerous on radar yes they definitely are you can see that hook signature as well Rachel even the darker Hues of purple which means heavy amounts of rainfall and yes the potential for Hail is also there and this is what we're tracking we will continue to track them as we head into the next couple of hours also but overall we are looking at a widespread outlook here at the storms numerous amounts of Watchers and warnings uh these have been issued by Environment Canada and we're going to continue to track them here as well just moving down towards the South because these are some of the storms we might experience down towards areas like West Ontario Windsor Saria looks like some Thunderstorm watches have already been issued by Environment Canada for this approaching and it looks like these are severely uh severe thunderstorm warranted and may potentially impact us here at home down towards Windsor snia into the next couple of hours yeah I'll give those uh another maybe 30 minutes and they're probably going to be approaching the Border there um so hopefully again you're wrapping up your commute home uh across Windsor Sarnia uh and areas north of the GTA uh this is not something you want to be involved with um like we mentioned lots of moisture in the atmosphere so even if we don't see uh a tornado warning popping up we're talking about very heavy rainfall and that is so dangerous to driveth through with the back spash and your wipers uh I it's just something you really really want to avoid luckily all of these are well north of the GTA giving us a lot more time to get home uh drive home safe if you need an excuse to get out of work early here it is um I will be your excuse uh but these storms again still pretty good juicy environment we still have uh ample uh thunderstorm energy in the atmosphere so uh continuing to watch these storms trigger uh I do want to highlight those storms making their way across the Bruce Peninsula uh there severe thunderstorm warned for local rainfalls amounts up to 50 mm uh so that is quite a bit of rainfall in such a short amount of time I mean they just made their way on Shore probably 10 20 minutes ago uh and we're talking about buckets of rainfall falling in uh that short period of time tuny siiz hail and also 100 km per hour wind gusts associated with that line again continuing to move towards the east so Bruce Peninsula National Park any sort of National Park lion's head Miller Lake uh dryers Bay um lots of places that are very frequented uh especially this time of year uh if you're out camping if you're trailering it's definitely time to seek shelter uh because these storms are going to be quite intense and then as you can see here Perry Sound getting a severe thunderstorm warm before they roll onto Shore yeah it's a good call we made there because it looks like they are going to be moving in environment can of picked up on that also so that means they issu that warning which is amazing uh thank you to to them for issuing These Warnings on time just to help keep everyone safe uh so yes along uh 69 there we'll be looking at the storm is moving through momentarily they're very fast moving Rachel they're all pretty much moving in around 80 km per hour in an Eastward Direction so that's where we're going to continue to track there's a few more just south of Sudbury here they're not uh in a warning but they're in a watch so not meeting severe criteria as yet but definitely making their way over the lake ha surgeon Lake North Bay you might be seeing a few downpours uh coming up and even uh towards Kirkland Lake uh just to the South here halb is well haleybury also uh we're still looking at quite a bit of heavy rainfall and of course the ones we've keep tracking the super cells in the valmie and Valor region yeah those ones are rotating uh possibly producing a tornado uh they look the healthiest on radar especially with that signature and rotation uh just going to move back to Southern Ontario I just want to highlight uh some of the updates for the um the tornado warning that's south of bankof um it does say uh that there's possibly producing a tornado with tuny size hail and the the cell is located near Mesto Lake moving East at 60 kilom per hour uh so I see Mark Robinson is setting up here and Mark has uh the smartest play I think of all of us uh because like we were mentioning uh these storms are moving fast so it's going to you're going to need like a a jet to keep up with them uh but you're you're you're really smart here Mark it's not your first rodeo you're sitting and waiting yeah I mean the storm that we can see to our North now I don't believe this one is severe warant yet uh we've been watching this one for a while and it is beginning to build a little bit to the South the storm maybe splitting a bit uh which means that that southern split May begin to come May begin to come a little bit South the big issue is that you are literally looking at as far as I can go north before it just becomes trees and you just can't see the storms anymore unless you you know take a boat out in the middle of the lake which you do not want to do in a thunderstorm please don't do that um right now though you can kind of get an idea you can s of looking at the southern edge of that storm a little bit lightninging a little bit of thunder in there um this may be this may be it for this line I may have to watch this one go uh the second line though is coming in the this one is the one that the models have been sort of showing uh as potentially being the strongest of the day now we have another decision to make do I go west towards that line that's as it's coming down to you know see it before it gets dark or do I wait here and sort of have it come to me I'm I'm leaning towards heading west uh back towards the 400 uh just to see what that one's going to do now this storm as it gets towards the bankof area May May spin up may do the same thing we've already seen um the big question is uh is there going to be enough fuel out there because of that first storm that's gone through puts out a bit of a a cold pool down there and you know really you know that Air's already been worked over so it's not as good fuel so that's the big question as this one makes its way there uh but for now though this is about as close as I can get to it so there it is it's a little bit gray uh but as I said again it's that line coming later that may be the the big one to watch and that one that one's going to be racing the light going to be racing that that time period to have all that moisture and heat in place we will see because we have had very severe storms even after dark and with these storms that you're seeing now are you feeling any of the wind gust that the that the outflow uh of the storms and are you seeing any frequent lightning or is it more so just the rain draft yeah I'm really just seeing the main core I've heard a little bit fun but I haven't really seen anything but what I want going to man if you can just sort of you know go down across these they can sort of give you an idea of across the grass there see that that is not inflow to the storm we're too far south uh for it to really be inflow so that's just that low level very strong winds that are pushing these storms pushing that fuel into the storms and that's part of what's going to be fueling the storms like the the really nasty ones uh that are coming across Georgian Bay uh and even parts of Lake hon that that's what we're being watching for a little later if this jet keeps up uh those storms could be you know be a little bit supercharged with that all right well we're on our toes to see what uh what your next attack plan is Mark thank you we'll be checking in with you uh throughout this live stream um and thank you for joining us if you're just tuning into our live stream we are tracking severe weather across Ontario and Quebec as you were seeing with Mark there um severe thunderstorms and even tornado warnings are in place across sections uh just south of bankr and also uh are in effect south of Quebec uh numerous systems are just flaring up across Southern Ontario and Mark is on one of them uh we'll expect continued development uh throughout the next hour we're kind of playing that waiting game right now Melinda with the timing of that front if It sped up just a little bit uh we're we would be way more busy than we are now but we do have an update to our Quebec tornado warnings um and I'll just read it out here uh it has been expanded into the Cent area uh so that is areas that are east and north of valdor um we have a tornado warning that has been expanded into your region um and that's just because the system has continued to push East right so I'm pretty sure these are the warnings here these are the storm cells that we're tracking here over the region so definitely looks like a little bit of uh some spin we're seeing here on the radar off to our side yeah this one has quite a hook you can see right there it's well south of Valor um but this is the cell this is another cell here that has quite a good hook but like you mentioned Melinda lots of embedded rotation along this kind of cluster line as well as what you're highlighting um the the really intense rainfall uh likely also hail too and that continues even south of valdor um into the Vil Marie region where we've seen continued uh supercells tracking through one after another uh all tornado warned as well yeah we even still see this B segment here that we've been tracking this was moved in from the Timmons region now it contined to track Eastward it looks like it's just a severe thunderstorm warrant at this point in time but it's bringing in some very Gusty winds and it continues to hold its momentum as it continues to track Eastward as well as these individual supercells within the tornado warned regions like of valdor down towards V Marie we're continuing to track that not only in uh Western areas of Quebec but also in the kaladar area looks like the storm system is now moving right over Highway 41 so definitely if you are in this area you may want to pull over or uh continue driving at a slower rate CU rain is definitely coming down at quite a bit yeah this one's looking quite cluster so and there is rotation I'm seeing on radar um likely producing hail uh I would say tun to pingpong size it's just north of Clone and harlo Ontario again heading towards the east around 60 to 70 km per hour like you mentioned Melinda right over Highway 41 it will be uh east of 41 in the coming moments and then continuing to track North of Highway 47 um there's our next radar Skin So as you can see not as well defined of a structure as the uh cells that we saw in um Quebec with you know that big hook Arrow uh but this could be still producing a tornado and the rotation is kind of embedded within the torrential r that you're seeing which makes this system arguably more dangerous because it's hard to see and pinpoint where exactly that tornado could be occurring yeah what we call something like a rain wrap tornado where we can't really see it because there's so much moisture Quant in our atmosphere that these storms are just producing torrential amounts of rainfall we're also tracking Another one not uh warnant by any means but it continues to move through just south of halberton uh just east of Highway 35 here and the other one that Mark had its eye on now moving over in the next few minutes over Highway 11 into Gravenhurst and looks like the ones that we have been tracking over Georgian Bay slowly making their way on Shore areas like Perry Sound uh definitely the rain is on the way and that definitely looks like a little bit of some hail also so anywhere from Highway 69 400 as well north of mctier uh Keep Your Eyes to the Sky because it's going to be getting dark really fast and that rain is going to be barreling through and it looks like this cluster just keeps getting longer so the rain will continue for maybe half an hour or so in one spot but we're just keeping our eye on all these storms so much to keep an eye on right across Ontario and Quebec and we're also looking at portions down towards Southern know the northern United States rather where we're tracking in uh some severe thunderstorm warnings that yes may make their way into Windsor Environ Canon has already issued a severe thunderstorm watch in place for the storms that may approach within the next half an hour to an hour Seria chadam lington Windsor along the south end of the 401 there that's just a few to name and then even down towards city of Ottawa we're looking at a little bit of a cluster of storms moving in now but just only under the severe thunderstorm watch yeah and that uh that tornado warning that was just south of bankr in the kaladar region has just been expanded as we expected because the system continues to move East so has been expanded East uh charbot Lake western lar County um and penela um Pina um the tornado warning has uh been in been issued for your region with that same system uh that's passing north of kalidar right over top of Highway 41 uh quite a dangerous situation to be in you definitely don't want to be out on the roads if you know anybody that's camping cottaging maybe rving up in this region make sure to give them a call and make sure that that they're safe uh I know there's lots of trees in this area so it may be difficult to see the system coming and then we're also talking about the fact that it may be rain wrapped hard to see if this is producing a tornado but this system is definitely one uh to keep a close watch on again heading towards the east yeah let just zoom in here quickly so any area north of 5way 741 you're already seeing the heavy amounts of rainfall like you mentioned there Rao but it will continue to move V this one's moving a bit bit slower at around 60 km per hour uh so anyone in these areas definitely take shelter immediately because during the warning has been expanded into your region uh you can get into an interior building uh of course the lowest point in a building cover yourself with a mattress head into the basement uh though that can keep you and your family safe yeah let's look at uh these storms in Quebec now um again Southwestern Quebec arguably the best Dynamics here they they have the best forcing um for these storms so many supercells um going on and when we talk about radar signature um this is kind of what we're looking at uh the storm that has passed through Valor um I have a little bit of a sharper radar screen here but they has quite uh what my what my meteorologists behind me are calling quite a hammer quite a hook Echo uh on it so that is a signature for um this system producing a tornado um so again this is kind of what we're looking for is that kind of hook uh I wonder if I could just right here this kind of hook um that's kind of the signature when we're saying oh we see rotation that's what we're seeing uh and we're seeing that really across all of these systems uh in Quebec but this one in particular uh looking quite healthy indeed and uh again one after another continued uh tornado warnings up in this area we're talking about Vil Marie uh Valor and then it has expanded into the Cent region um I'm seeing rotation just outside of raped sep so just east of raped sep rotation south of laimo these ones are all moving towards the east a little bit faster uh around 80 uh 70 to 80 km per hour towards the east another area of rotation south of malar um it it just keeps going and going so luckily not in a very populated area uh once again uh likely seeing lots of tree damage uh maybe some power outages um but uh again this is probably the healthiest atmosphere is across uh Southwestern Quebec at the moment uh but the show is just going across uh Southern Ontario now yeah let's take a quick look here at where currently the uh coal front is so it continues to drape down south looks like it's going to be impacting areas like subb shortly um so definitely things are going to be cooling down behind this front but that's definitely going to be the main trigger uh is this coold furnace machine next coming out yeah and uh where that low is sitting that's what we're talking about it has a good Dynamics you have the cold front you have the low uh we we have that area of rotation um and earlier today uh farther north near Timmons and Kirkland Lake uh have a look at this ominous looking Cloud you can even see how fast it's moving uh on this video uh that is quite a shelf cloud that is uh again supercell characteristic have a look at that beautiful structure so ominous uh earlier today this storm was severe warned it is not anymore so that Timmons Kirkland Lake area is in the clear uh but wow not something you want to see uh barreling towards you at 80 km per hour Melinda yeah definitely true but quite a bit of nice structure on that um but overall we're going to be looking at maybe not something not as similar but definitely the Dynamics are still there as we head into the evening hours now continue to look at the current satellite I'll just put at current time for us here you can see that storm uh that was just a little bit of some cells along shores of hon now a massive storm you can even see little uh look like as Mark calls it cauliflower that's a good way to put it there it looks like cauliflower with a little bubbles on top that means it has that vertical height which is what we need uh for those storm Dynamics even the one here along Highway 11 you can see that that also and oh yeah the one that uh I believe this is the one that is worn Tado tornado warning yep that one just North of Highway 7 there lots of uh the vertical depth there oh up to the north wow you can just see it see you can see how much stronger they are a little bit far farther north um again likely producing a tornado it's been indicated on radar for several several scans um the we actually have an update for the Quebec tornado warning uh for valdor and Lou Lou area again apologies if I'm pronouncing uh your area wrong um but we do have an update there that is uh again a thunderstorm possibly producing a tornado uh the system is uh 20 km Southwest of LAX SE mall and moving Eastward around 50 km per hour so slowing down now uh as they continue to progress East um but again that was one of the ones that I pointed out that had some pretty good rotation again just outside of LAX simong um that tornado uh warning has been just updated all right so this is the current look here I'll just zoom out at the entirety of what we're tracking now on areas across Cottage Country down towards uh just north of the south or west rather the nation's capital in the bankr area and up towards the north these ones we're not really seeing the dynamic anymore across Northwestern Northeastern Ontario rather looks like the first storms really took the Brun of it and took a lot that energy we're still seeing some thunderstorms but they're not severely worned except for this one here that's stting to move through just uh Southwest of capus casing here but even the one that moved uh across the border a little bit of that bow Echo still in place and like you mentioned the ones we've still be kept keeping our eye on here with the individual supercells within this entire cluster yeah I wonder if we can just take a look at how long these supercells have been tracking across Quebec I mean go back like two hours I swear these uh maybe maybe an hour or so but I swear these systems were um yeah there they are we're talking about long track supercells across Southwestern Quebec um again luckily not in a very populated region if that was the case uh it would be a much more dangerous event still uh very dangerous and life-threatening if you are in that area uh but wow uh you can definitely tell those Dynamics are at play um long track supercells possibly producing tornadoes for several hours now up in Quebec but we do have a tornado warning across the South so let's just go uh to Southern Ontario there's that tornado warning um it'll likely be dropped for the kaladar region um because it has passed over a Highway 41 now um so it's past clone and harlo tracking north um it h is going to be making making its way north of sharbot Lake Mountain Grove uh kind of near the ad do region again um in Ontario uh so making its way towards the east we'll likely see um that area um that tornado warning drop uh west of 41 but uh it does continue towards the east so uh picking up some pretty good uh rotation and uh a signature that is uh conducive for Hail uh so we're talking about niichel sized hail maybe pingpong sized if this system can cycle through once more and get uh get a little bit stronger and then the uh severe thunderstorms all the way back towards uh the um uh Georgian Bay there uh have a look at that boundary that little shortwave trough that we're mentioning uh starting to spark up some thunderstorms across Southern Ontario yeah so there's the one that we've were tracking it looks like it's becoming a bit more elongated across the uh hon and Georgian Bay now starting to make its way into peris sound rather where they have now issued a severe thunderstorm warning for that region so just north of mcer along 400 we'll be looking at heavy amounts of rainfall in the next couple of hours wouldn't be surprised if hunts feel get added into that as well the storm continues to Barrel through within the next half an hour or so and then areas like Gravenhurst we're now seeing this storm it's not warned as of yet uh but just bringing heavy amounts of rainfall great Graven her brace bridge and then the one that we were tracking as well uh that is severe thunderstorm warrant uh just southeast of halberton now potentially making its way into bft lots of heavy rainfall even a little bit of some hail on that also Rachel we've been tracking and then down towards the South here so the next half an hour or so we're looking at some of these uh cells moving down into across South Western Ontario yeah I think that my next area of concern that's also been pointed out by our meteorologist behind the scenes is the shores of Perry Sound um I mean we saw those storms being quite cluster uh they're kind of merging together and they're also pushing onto Shore so what that's going to do is uh provide a changeable wind direction uh so we'll see if that develops any sort of rotation as it pushes its way into peris sound but heavy downpours and uh some hail imminent for peris sound the 400 uh through that stretch um so this is an area to watch closely uh Gusty winds as well uh as we're kind of forming that line uh in behind that uh that cluster that's going on right now um but the the biggest takeaway here is you know we have the severe weather ingredients across Ontario and Quebec uh but it's so much more uh severe farther north and that's because we have those stronger triggers what we that's what we're lacking across Southern Ontario is a a strong trigger but um it only really took a little bit of a a short wave ahead of the cold front to spark uh severe thunderstorm warnings and also a tornado warning south of bankr that continues to make its way just east of Highway 41 so if you're in that area uh definitely time to get off the roadways get inside uh and just wait the system out that's making its way uh East around 50 kilm per hour so uh it should be out of your way rather quickly um and it does sound like we have Mark that's available here um we'll see him set up in just a moment I believe Mark is still um around the Aurelia region hopefully that is the case uh and it looks like Mark you have some uh pretty good clouds behind you once again whereabouts are you located yeah we're still we're still sort of in around I'm just Tak a quick look here uh we're just sort of northeast of aelia watching these storms to the north now these storms didn't do too much we were expecting potentially a little bit more but what we are watching now is a cluster of storms uh little closer to over I'm just quick look at the radar right here uh near Owens sound uh s of just north of meford they are headed in this direction those are you know isolated storms but behind that is the line of storms um that's really got quite an oomph to it uh that one still making its way but it may not come as far south uh like all the way down and around the barrier that may be a little too far south for these ones uh but I know a lot of lot of the computer models did have it moving down through there so we're debating and I think I'm going to take us West uh back towards Barry to watch these storms as they come in and just sort of be in that spot for this line of storms to come in because if we look at the radar there it's very some very potentially very strong winds uh within that these ones not as likely to produce tornadoes because it is just sort of a line of storms uh but you can still get some spin-ups in there and any of those isolated storms those are the ones I'm watching very closely especially you know if we go very far east uh back towards banro there's another set of storms that are in that area just so much going on right now uh but again being uh this part of the this part of the country it's part of Ontario is very very hard to really get a good visual on it and be able to show you so I'm working on it and I'll see if I can uh you know bring you that visual as these storms begin to make their way towards both uh Midland uh in the barry region awesome and when you uh do get into contact with that uh that line of storms what are you expecting to see well I mean when you get a line of storms like that you quite often get uh what we call a shelf cloud uh which is this just absolutely spectacular you know Horizon to Horizon uh literally when I say shelf clut I mean it looks just like a giant set of shelves uh just an amazing storm very dramatic sometimes can produce a very strong winds you get 110 120 km an hour in those in those types of storms uh those can do a little bit of damage whether that storms are are pushing that kind of winds we're not sure uh we have to get in there and Sample it uh but definitely that's sort of and of course though we do still have that windsh which could spin up some of the more isolated storms so those still can be potentially dangerous just the whole system uh beginning to push towards you know bit more of a a populated area that's where we're going to be awesome thank you so much Mark and like you were mentioning uh as that line makes its way through shelf cloud is what you're going to be looking at we did show you visuals of what that looked like earlier in Kirkland Lake um but when you do get that line of storms Melinda we've been talking about damaging wind gusts and uh very Gusty winds indeed um so we'll be concerned as that line comes in uh with what the wind speeds are going to look like especially as it hits more populated regions power outage numbers are likely going to be climbing through the night um across the GT uh but something to point out is although um we we are concerned about the tornado warnings yes but uh this very long bow line uh is a concern because of like we were just mentioning uh some very Gusty winds damaging in fact especially uh when you look at the radar signatures it is indicative of some evaporation some cooling behind it uh which is a signature for damaging winds across this area so lots of trees likely down uh in southern Quebec yeah definitely along this line here that's what we're talking about so you see that uh bow signature and especially what you just said Rachel uh that is because the going to produce those strong Gusty damaging winds now I'll just backtrack here quickly uh thank you for joining us once again for our live stream coverage we have a few tornado warnings in place across Quebec and Southern Ontario Valor the vill Marie region we're tracking numerous super cells that are giving way to quite a bit of rot and these regions here looks like the cidar one has been dropped and it looks like the one just to the east not to oaba Lake and Western linar Country a county rather uh please forgive us for pronouncing your regions wrong but these are the uh the regions that have a current tornado warning watches rather these are widespread across the area of Southern Ontario Quebec Northwestern Ontario so this means have a plan stay alert condition are favorable for the development of tornadoes now here's a new map that was just dropped in areas as that coldfront sinks down south Rachel that we could be looking at the potential for power outages as those winds definitely pick up to you gust upwards of 50 to 70 km per hour even Within These individual storm cells gusts upwards to 100 and 110 km per prior are possible with the torrential rainfall and the potential for the hail well it's almost like what what risks don't we have uh not not much um we do see systems firing up across the Bruce Peninsula making their way onto Shore for um Perry Sound those are going to be a concern for the Barry region as they continue to press uh towards the South and the East so these are the ones that we're going to keep a close watch on for uh the barrier region hopefully you're already home uh it is 6:00 so uh hopefully your commute has already taken you home but this is the line that's going to continue to develop uh and make its way into higher populated regions I would say in the next 30 minutes to an hour um so power outages could be a concern in that red highlighted region that you saw um my concern is is that these storms are going to be firing up and making their way into Barry uh which would be uh very problematic for that region and then along uh towards the east heading into Ottawa that's where we have that uh tornado warning persisting uh that has just been updated rotation is still on that storm um and we're also looking at the potential for Hail um that uh the storm that's capable of producing a tornado is near Fernly and moving East at 60 km per hour so we're looking at the threat for a tornado with this and nickel-sized hail again charet Lake and Western lunar County um so in the coming hours I would expect the in the coming hour I would expect uh areas across Barry to start picking up in intensity um and also just again shouting out the uh incredible line of supercells across Quebec um these have been in place for several hours uh and very strong rotating signatures uh likely producing tornadoes up here with larger hail up to Ping pong's ball-size hail uh in this region yeah absolutely right we've been tracking these for the past three hours now so definitely a lot of active weather and yet more is still to come across Ontario and Quebec like you mentioned this line sinking down South potentially as a cold front moves in impacting areas like Barry down towards the North End of the GTA and another few lines here that we're tracking that may potentially impact areas like Sara down towards chadam lemington into the next half an hour or so I would say we're still watching them um make their way along the international border here yeah you can see them bubbling up around Waterford getting close to Sarnia now um like we mentioned although they look small on radar they probably look very uh intense on the ground lots of vertical structure with these not a lot of things stopping them um when we look at our severe weather ingredients uh we have ample of it we have that heat and humidity the southerly flow that's uh pushed areas uh across Southern Ontario and into Quebec uh into the humidex of 30 today so that hot muggy soupy atmosphere that allows us to tap into quite a bit of moisture lots of thunderstorm energy to work with we will see that begin to diminish uh as we head into the later overnight or evening hours uh overnight as well for the GTA uh but we still have some ample energy over 2,000 jewels of Cape so quite sufficient indeed uh and then we have our upper level wind support a uh a trough that's deepening and digging across the Great Lakes uh and allowing for that uh the stronger winds that are above the surface to funnel down uh and help develop these storms into supercells uh and stronger storms as well so we're going to continue to watch uh lots of factors at play damaging wind gust large hail uh few tornadoes again uh especially in the red highlighted region there um and then torrential rain is going to be a major concern we showed how hot and soupy that atmosphere is uh it will continue to stick with us throughout the overnight uh and very very heavy rainfall that is going to be a major concern for the Golden Horseshoe I would say especially across the GTA uh when you get that pavement lots of uh you know the concrete jungle we can't really uh absorb all of that moisture so standing pooling water uh hopefully you're already in bed um maybe a little bit of a light show but that is going to extend all the way into the Ottawa region as well and then this uh same system does push East uh so New Brunswick not out of the woods yet uh we'll be looking at maybe a a tornado threat continuing for you tomorrow thank you Rachel now overall we still have a few torado warnings in place the Ville Marie region Valor and areas of Western quebe back looks like we have a bit of a update here Rachel that's possible yeah the v v Marie area just got updated um moments ago and uh again still in a uh tornado warning uh tracking multiple systems uh supercells like we were mentioning uh continuing to push East um there's one that's situated 20 km east of raped set once again uh and it's moving approximately 50 km per hour so um there's many threatening thunderstorms that will continue to affect the same area within the next hour so it's been several hours already expect another hour or two of this uh definitely stay inside get into a basement if you can get off the roadways uh again luckily not a very big populated region but where is populated as we head to closer to Ottawa uh this supercell here is still tornado warned um in southern uh South and Southeastern Ontario uh we are looking at uh radar indication of hail maybe nickel maybe tuny size uh it's right over uh sorry it's north of Mountain Grove and charbit Lake uh continuing to track towards the east at 50 km per hour it's heading towards McDonald Corners uh staying North of Highway 7 at the moment but we are going to continue to watch if uh the system continues its strength as it pushes closer and closer uh to Smith Falls awesome and that's going to continue as you mentioned it's the are slowing down the ones across Northern Ontario they are slowing down um they were moving around 60 km per hour now around that 80 km per hour so definitely uh losing a little bit of its speed there but we're still tracking a lot more here's look at the overall tornado watches that have been in place by Environment Canada so areas like Barry bangro aanin North uh Northeastern Ontario and Southwestern Quebec all of you are in the tornado watch so that means have a plan stay alert yes we are tracking storms and tornado warnings in these regions but just a heads up if you are located in these areas just have a plan stay alert uh keep your phone on you keep your phone charged as well uh to get these alerts you can also find us on your app on social on YouTube uh just uh for the current updated information but once again if you are in those regions with a tornado warning here are some of the best places to uh protect yourself so move down to a basement or an interior room with no windows um top floors are not great and especially uh rooms with windows are not also great so definitely a room without a window a basement or the lowest point in your home or a building that's going to be some of the best places Now quickly I'll mention this once again if you are just joining us we do have watches and warnings out these have been issued by Environment Canada so what exactly does this mean 3 and0 watches are when condition are favorable for the development of severe storms with a potential for one or two tornadoes this means have a plan play close attention to the weather and the warnings and watches in your area when it comes to a tornado warning when a tornado has been reported or we' seeing that signature of rotation like we have been seeing the past few hours on radar this is when you should take shelter immediately you haven't done so already so that's just the uh the main differences between a tornado watch and a tornado warning now continuing in through the day today we are going to be looking at some more active weather continuing along that cold front as it continues to drape down south here just a current look here any area in yellow is a severe thunderstorm watch any area in red is a severe thunderstorm warning Brown tornado watch and in pink or purple on your screen is a tornado warning so just some of the areas here looks like the one down towards the South that we've been keeping our eye on across the United States looks like it is warned now see thunderstorm warning so it may travel over into areas like Windsor into the next couple of uh minutes or the next maybe around 10 to 20 minutes or so so we're going to continue to monitor you on that overall it's a very active busy day and more has yet to come especially into the overnight hours Rachel yeah overnight uh it'll be time for uh Toronto the uh GTA Hamilton uh we'll get a pretty good soaking pretty nice car wash um once this cold front kind of sweeps through so the timing is a little bit in our favor probably won't be into the severe stuff that is ongoing right now uh just taking a look at what our mesoanalysis is looking like we are intensifying our supercell parameters across areas uh like Barry Algonquin Cottage Country in and around uh sections Inland uh north of Orangeville so our supercell parameters um are are on the uptick across Southern Ontario so we will expect uh further enhancement more maybe pop up thunderstorms uh making their way across this region here so uh Barry is time now to get prepared you probably have about 20 30 minutes before um either a storm pops up in your region or uh the line of storms comes through as we can kind of see I'm just going to take uh control here here's that line of storms uh that's outside of Perry Sound or making its way into Perry Sound um rather but have a look at these there's some storms once again like we saw in Quebec popping up ahead of the line so those are the ones I'm going to be concerned about uh maybe possibly having some rotation on them uh so that's going to be where we maybe have a look at uh the tornado potential and then once the line comes through we'll be talking about damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours um but once again Barry you probably have about 30 minutes or so uh before those kind of track into your region uh if you peek outside you probably see see very high high Cloud tops uh and then that same boundary kind of drapes all the way into bankr and past it where we still have a tornado warning rotation is ongoing on that storm that just passed over uh Highway 41 um it does look like it's tracking into a less favorable environment so a little bit of what we call a cap in the atmosphere is building in eastern Ontario which uh acts like a lid to a pot and it kind of subdues the vertical um the vertical motion of these storms so inhibiting it from developing a little bit however it is still tornado warned it's still looking quite healthy on radar um and it does show that it is rotating as well so um areas once again uh that are in the path of the system uh it's north of sharet Lake um mayorly Ontario north of Long Lake north of Mountain Grove uh heading towards maberly Ontario uh and McDonald Corners uh near Highway seven so if you're in the path of this system uh it's definitely time to get inside like Melinda mentioned get into a basement if you can uh good news is is it's tracking into a less favorable environment but it is still strong right now so we'll have to wait um for another 30 minutes maybe an hour for that to uh begin to subside but still quite a dangerous situation uh going on across Eastern Ontario with that um tornado warning ongoing looks like we are seeing some non- severe storms across the city of Ottawa right now in the past uh couple minutes or so looks like we're still seeing kind of bit of rain but some heavier rainfall did move through the region uh these are not severely warned uh as of right now just under a super thunderstorm watch so not really meeting the criteria because this region is not really favorable the for the Dynamics of severe thunderstorms as we've been talking about uh but overall we are going to continue to track them as well looks like some storms a little bit of some rain moving through the Eastern townships of Quebec no warnings or Watchers for that right now also we're also definitely keeping our eye here on the Saria region here is earlier in middle and maybe from that system we've been shocking heavy rainfall you can see the wind just pushing the rain uh Rachel that's lot of rainfall will continue as well especially with these storms with that Parry Sound looks like it's lining out also very lot amounts of rain there yeah that's what you're saying like the torrential downpours then imagine driving into that on the highway uh it and then also with the backsplash it would be awful to drive in have a look at Quebec holy cow look at this hail mark would be screaming right now if he was there have a look at the size of this hail falling in Quebec I mean it's no wonder uh we were looking at those several supercells uh dropping quite a bit of hail we mentioned the hail Spike earlier it has been ongoing for several hours and we're expecting another hour of this uh you can see the ha pooling on the grass there uh very very dangerous situation to be in we're talking about windshield cracks um I mean that was just an Ode to how strong the Dynamics are in Quebec again luckily not very populated but quite an impressive feat with those uh numerous supercells ongoing uh towards the north which we still have those uh tornado warnings for and like environment Kanda mentioned maybe another hour and that was that same region in run uh please forgive us if we're pronouncing any of these names wrong but that was a region that had a turned a warning earlier uh today so definitely uh quite a bit of a storm Dynamic there as we continue into uh the afternoon or evening hours rather but this is the next one we're keeping our eye on impacting areas like Perry Sound this line is definitely barreling right through uh north of the 400 there along 69 that's where we're seeing heavy amounts of rainfall and it looks like just offshore we're looking at a little bit of rotation indicated on radar also yeah just off short of Perry sound a little bit of rotation quite messy still on radar but um like you mentioned definitely a situation to prepare for so this was earlier in Tim you can see the Heavy Rain little bits of hail as well this is what you're in for Perry Sound uh I mean it's it is ongoing but uh a little bit of area of rotation uh just offshore so we're going to keep a close watch on this uh but when you see a severe thunderstorm warning this is exactly what it's going to look like I'm glad that this this person pulled over because the hail bouncing off uh looks like a little bit maybe nickel size uh but it's also the rain that's going to be quite a problem significantly reducing visibility on the roads uh very dangerous and also with hydroplaning as well um a very sticky situation to be in so hopefully you're already home you can put your feet up watch the live stream uh we're going to be bringing in mark across this live stream to continue to show us what is going on on the ground so he will chase for you uh no need to be chasing out there it does look like we have a new tornado warning now uh just south of perisan we just mentioned that there was an area of rotation just offshore uh so it looks like Environment Canada preemptively um warning that uh just around the 400 region let me grab the details uh it's already came in here so uh yep town of Perry Sound uh rouso killbear park now you are in a tornado warning um and once again a thunderstorm possibly produce a tornado damaging winds large hail um the system is 7 km Southwest of kbear Park moving Northeast at 55 km per hour so along with the potential of a tornado 100 km perh wind gust and nickel size hail is going to be uh a feature so Parry Sound uh with that line and that cluster like we mentioned pushing on Shore lots of Shear there rotation has been picked up you are now in a tornado warning looks like we currently have three of them AC or four of them rather across Ontario and Quebec definitely keeping our eye on that um but overall this is what we're continuing to track here and this line of storm just quickly zoom in here uh for us along the Perry Sound region let me get some um some smaller cities where this could be impacting oh yeah there we go hir Rose points Badger's corner hum free yeah pretty much anyone uh along the 400 there um lots of little bits of areas of rotation um so we'll continue to track this and lots of lightning on this which is not something that we've seen with a lot of these storms but I'm picking picking up a quite a bit of lightning all across per sound all across that uh that line that bow Echo that's uh ongoing uh so quite a dangerous situation in through Parry Sound uh again system continuing to develop continuing to exhibit rotation so uh that is why you are tornado warned it is time to get inside hopefully you had enough lead time to do so um we also see a bit of a interesting radar signature um that was the same system that was outside of bankr um it does look like the overall system is diminishing a bit but still tornado warned and still rotating on radar all right looks like our storm Hunter is out in the car once again Mark looks like you're heading to another location tell us more about that yeah I'm headed up actually towards the the Midland area and I'm so shocked at the amount of lightning that I can see on the radar uh which means that you know you're probably going to have some big hail in this line uh potentially some rotation I do see that that is tornado warrant I'm not sure exactly where because I'm driving I don't want to be taking a look too much at the radar um but definitely uh this this line is extremely powerful when you have lightning like that on the line uh you know you get what you what we I like to call strobing you know if it's at night it just looks like a strobe light is going off like that you know and to to get a chance to uh to actually uh see that like you know to be able to see the storm itself that lightning is going to be I think the Big Show with that um the question that now get close as we there of course we're in's back or not looks we're losing a little bit of connection there so we will get back to him shortly we definitely going to be having technical issues yeah definitely so we'll get back to you in a moment Mark let's just quickly look here at the current radar once again and we'll let Market back into an area of better service but this is the one we're tracking here Parry Sound looks like a line is developing a bit of a cluster here that's going to continue to Barrel through and potentially even sink South so Marcus heading from a really to the Midland area so I'm assuming he's heading up one of these highways as so maybe he might get a good view of those storms potentially if there is a little bit of a shelf maybe developing on it he might get some good visuals on that so definitely if you do have him on Twitter if you don't follow him because he always posts the most amazing visuals and sometimes I'm seriously jealous of him he gets to go out and storm Chase Meanwhile we're here but neither is the facts it's all we are here safe and sound absolutely Rachel now overall this is what we're going to continue to track here at this thunderstorm uh that continues to move through perisan with rotation stures on it and another one Embrace which which looks kind of a little bit of interesting also and the one now moving into bankra here so no no tro warnings on these there are just uh severe thunderstorm warnings also but the one over here that we're continuing to track uh definitely looks like it's uh moving a little bit more Southward than anticipated here yeah I wonder if you could break up the Frank town uh radar because it might give us a better um a sharper visual on that that storm that is tornado warned uh farther towards the east uh and if not just take my word for it because uh my my higher resz uh radar signature does show a bit of a hook um so we're talking about uh a rotating storm uh radar uh looks like it is rotating possibly producing a tornado it is north of uh sharet Lake heading towards maberly on Taro um over Highway 7 uh that is tornado warranted uh and it does appear that it is uh producing or could possibly be producing a tornado you can kind of see now with this uh with this next scan this hook here this is what I'm mentioning right in here uh when you kind of get this area like that um that's kind of that sweet spot where uh tornado could be possible so I'm just going to zoom in here uh because uh again the last couple scans this system has developed a lot more rotation than uh it did in the past so a tornado warning underway it is making its way uh about 50 km per hour towards the east maybe a touch east Southeast uh maberly if you are in maberly along Highway 7 uh right around here that is where right where it is tracking maybe tracks a little bit north of you but um again this radar signature does look like it's a more of a hook does look like it is RO a rotating storm tornado warned very dangerous to be out on the roadways uh it's time to get indoors away from Windows into a basement if possible absolutely right Rachel just quickly zoom out here and just show everyone the WID spread look that we're looking at the ones in Quebec they're still going definitely been about two hours and a half to three hours of these storm cells continuing That's The Power of them very strong dynamics that continues the one for Perry Sound that's the one we're continuing to monitor that line is looking to push in through and then one we were just talking about here uh just north of Westport so that's the one that has that signature on we were just talking about so once again just some areas to keep in mind if you are under a tornado warning what to do head inside head into a shelter uh you know go into a basement an interior room one that preferably does not have Windows and not a top floor definitely the lowest uh part of your building which will be great uh we're also tracking quite a bit of hail ratio we've been talking about the different sizes some of the different reports are coming out with pingpong ball siiz hail which is around 4 cm or so and also from nickel all the way to golf ball is what we have been seeing uh the past couple of hours these and uh the Parry Sound tornado warning expect nickel sized hail uh along with uh the one that is tracking an Eastern on tario um but the ones that are farther north in Quebec the super cells those are housing uh some larger hail like we saw in the visuals there so maybe closer to quarter or pingpong siiz balls all right now looks like uh this region here is now out of the tornado watch uh so this is just Northwest of Valor but we're still tracking a widespread region and now it looks like this area down to the South here uh including Owens sound I believe is now in uh s thunderstorm warning those were the that was the area that I think um U Mark is kind of gunning for he kind of said there's a a line and things bubbling up in and around Owens sound so it's kind of these clusters that are sparking before that big red line that you see that's also dumping up to 50 mm of rainfall um in a very short time frame so very very saturated indeed very Gusty winds uh but the storms that are in front of that uh those kind of more isolated storms those are the ones that could maybe suck up all of that moisture suck up all of that instability uh and start rotating so the ones that are pushing onto Shore just north of Midland uh around uh the 400 I would be concerned about those developing uh probably very vertical again in their structure uh meanwhile the line just behind it is going to have that very very pronounced shelf cloud look very Gusty winds maybe damaging winds once it pushes into your area uh it does look like it has passed tobermore now continuing to head south so Owens sound is going to be uh under the gun Highway 26 maybe Collingwood Midland so anyone along the shores of Lake hon Georgian Bay uh and then as well we have that new tornado warning up in Perry Sound as well all right and it looks like a few more are now developing along that as well supp poort Elgen Karden you may be getting into a severe thunderstorm warning shortly also as these individual cells can continue to track Southward and like Rachel mentioned we're still looking at a few even some pop-up ones here down towards the new warning of Owens sound just west of Collingwood as well and I believe Mark is going to be tracking into Midland so that's the region he's looking at um overall We are continuing to track this here's a smaller one here uh down towards the South also can't really see a name but it's just I'm not too sure name perfect I can get you something here uh kettle's Beach okay uh Potter's Landing Christian Island Cedar Point uh it actually just pushed onto Shore right where um go home Lake I know a lot of people frequently go up there uh for Cottages uh go home lake that is where that next cell is pushing onto Shore you can see that purple color uh we were talking about the radar reflectivity we're in the high to extreme when you see purple and black so likely producing some pretty good hail uh torrential downpours we're talking about nickel uh nickel to pingpong siiz hail just north of go home Lake you're likely seeing a very very tall system pushing onto Shore very dangerous situation as you also head north into Perry Sound along Highway uh 400 I'm looking at multiple areas of uh rotation uh in between home uh sorry faling Horseshoe Lake and Humphrey it's again once again rain wrapped kind of within this cluster um but kind of just outside of the 400 uh just towards uh the West we'll be pushing over Highway 400 shortly uh but that's kind of the area I'm seeing rotation you could kind of see uh that I mean I don't want to call it a hook but you can kind of see where that indents just around the 400 region right there um that's where I'm kind of seeing a little bit of rotation again you are um tornado warned if you're north of Perry Sound um uh I'm I would say that you're in the clear killbear Park Brooks Landing um all the way up into um sorry uh shaa shaa uh but if you're south of peris sound that's where I'm I am seeing rotation so around peris sound South to Humphrey along Highway 400 and then we're going to keep a close watch once again around go home lake with that next kind of more discreet looking cell uh by itself uh pushing onto Shore taking up all of that energy and then uh you know that Shor line does help to get a little bit of rotation if it needs it um again just want to reiterate we do have uh quite a dangerous looking system uh in eastern Ontario as well it does look like rotation has diminished but again um multiple scans did have this system with a pretty good hook um north of maberly it is just about to make it way towards maberly so hopefully you already inside a dangerous system uh the supercell is tornado warned um it does look like rotation has diminished but I uh I would still uh take shelter uh basement uh maberly uh and it's going to pass over Highway 7 so that is our uh supercell in eastern onario ongoing at the moment yeah would would be surprised if areas like Perth and Smiths Falls gets added into the tornado warning also cuz it's baring right towards there so as you mentioned crossing over Highway 7 shortly we're already seeing a little bit of some rain there and then down towards Perth that's maybe our best guess of where this system could be heading to Next but looks like it's definitely uh changing a bit of a direction not really due east but maybe a little bit more uh South as especially as that uh coold front is starting to make its way Southward yeah and something that we haven't mentioned um is just offshore uh in Georgian Bay there are Marine War ings in effect um and the the environment kand has issued a marine tornado warning there uh so if you are on in a boat uh or hanging out by the shore um not a good time to do so I'm sure you've already gotten inside because you've probably seen that shelf cloud and those uh popc corny systems popping up uh but there is a marine warning uh for all of the shoreline of Georgian Bay at the moment all righty now up to the where of North Rachel if you just check the current alert there's a new one there uh so looks like that rotation has now moved out of the V Marie area it's just continuing to push Eastward and a few more are actually popping up also yeah it looks like uh that has moved into dval lodge area so it the tornado warning has ended for Vil Marie but it is uh moved into dval Lodge so again it's those same supercells that have been uh non-stop for several hours now uh pretty much where when we started this live stream um and it does look like a potential tornado is 35 km Southwest of laimon I I think I've said laimon about 50 times uh today uh but again it's moving at 50 km per hour towards the east uh and again the same area expect ongoing storms lots of rotation once again being picked up on these systems uh if you just want to highlight here I could do it uh it's this one I want to say right there oh that was fancy uh but it does have that hook effect on it uh even the one ahead of it uh does still have a hook on it as well right here and um yeah these supercells have been quite strong continuing over the same region in the next hour lots of hail associated with these um yeah and again it does look like the the warning is very expansive but it's more so if you're in the northern edge of this warning so uh that Lake Simon area um backto back battered with uh supercells uh but supercells uh is still story across eastern Ontario um once again maberly kind of under the gun with a tornado warning um oh it looks like maybe it just dropped yeah looks like it has as we expected uh that system did move into like I mentioned that capped atmosphere so uh that helped to kind of limit its vertical structure uh so uh and the past couple scans less rotation on it so good news if you're in maberly but still heed the warning still maybe get inside uh lowest level of your home just in case because uh it has a history of being tornado warn still a very strong cell um and then we have these storms kind of backed all the way into Georgian Bay like we mentioned uh with that Marine tornado warning yeah up uh along Georgian Bay there now some regions here o let's look at this almost all the way into Sarnia the warning is now there Highway 402 in the mix as well petroia Wyoming Marine City all of you are in the warning now um so definitely that system will be pushing down towards Saria in the next few minutes or so uh give it give or take next 10 to 20 minutes or so uh but yes bring in just some more heavier rainfall the main threats if you're not in the watch area Tornado Watch area it's going to be severe uh torrential rainfall and lots of lightning on these storms also so up towards here look at the shores of hon Rachel along Highway 21 Port El K Carden secondary cluster exactly kind of looks like it want to attach to the main line there I think it eventually will um it's kind of that line that Mark was mentioning that he was waiting for it looks like it sparked up um I'm even seeing just south uh some popcorn he sells um actually even more south uh keep going down here yeah Stratford so we could be getting into remember like I mentioned those boundaries those areas of convergence that were further Inland uh those could be popping off now too so maybe areas across uh more further Southern Ontario will be getting into uh all of the action that we've been tracking for the past couple of hours yeah that's definitely going to continue there but this line definitely has my eye especially as we continue look at this now starting to come on Shore also a little bit of uh some more thunderstorms rolling through but still we're still seeing that rotation signature on that tornado warn system here that we're continuing to track even up towards the north seeing a little bit more that cluster not warn by any means still into a severe thunderstorm watch but yes still continuing to be uh heavy rainfall that's the main uh takeaway from these storms I want to mention is the torrential rainfall because the amount of precipitation that it's in or moisture rather that's in our atmosphere is off the charts oh yeah it's I mean when when you see uh temperatures uh getting into the 30s with the humidex uh well into the 30s that supy atmosphere that's the energy that these thunderstorms uh love to feed off of and by the way uh heading into next week we're looking at quite a bit of a heat wave across Southern Ontario so get prepared for that um that hot supy air mass is going to continue once we follow our lovely Father's Day weekend that's going to be ahead quite dry uh for Father's Day I know uh my dad's happy about that cuz he'll be bringing out his barbecue uh but it's going to take this cold front uh to make its way through in order to get the drier weekend and then heading into the past the weekend have a look at this we're looking at a US heat Dome building across the US Southeast uh that's going to be pushing into Ontario parts of Quebec maybe even Atlantic Canada and we're maybe thinking into the 30s humidex well maybe well into the 30s if not 40s so if you're not a fan of the humidity I'm telling my sister right now get your air conditioning fixed now it's been so many weeks uh because it's going to be a hot one uh heading into I guess that's what the third week of June oh yes that's going to be a Tuesday Wednesday Thursday story potentially even lingers into uh the end of the week don't only for Ontario Quebec Atlantic Canada you're also going to be seeing some of this heat and humidity build into next week also awesome well let's take a look at our atmosphere right now um I'm having a look we still have quite a bit of thunderstorm energy in and around the parisan region um areas across Cottage Country uh Barry Orangeville uh the shores of Lake hiron I'm talking about uh about 2,000 jewels of cape and what you need to know is that's just that's that's enough for thunderstorms well that's plenty we do have a a little bit of a Cap building in more so to Eastern Ontario so uh that's why we've seen some of those thunderstorms subside in their severity uh but uh definitely looking at this line of Storms and the storms bubbling up across uh Georgian Bay those are going to be the ones that are going to have quite a bit of an impact maybe damaging wind gust in through Barry once that does make its way onto Shore uh but we do still have an ongoing tornado warning for Perry Sound uh once that did make its way onto Shore it uh played into oh it looks like that has dropped all right Perry Sound is now out of the tornado warning so a little bit brief uh once once again once it makes its way into Shore kind of like that that uh that friction helps to turn um and enhance the shear and the rotation of these storms so this is our last tornado warning uh well for now at least uh Valor uh and areas towards the South uh taking a look at the rest of the evening uh we are still going to be tracking uh severe thunderstorms along with some uh power outage risks uh here's a look at where you could see the power outage risks um areas across bar all the way up to Valor that's exactly where we're seeing those severe thunderstorms they will continue and bow out so like we were mentioning Melinda uh the line of thunderstorms is going to be the issue uh once we get uh into this evening hello uh you know we're we're gonna let Melinda take a little bit of a break here and uh Rachel and I will now continue thank you Rachel just give me we're just doing a little bit of chair shuffling here that's what happens when you're live for what how many hours now we're going on to hour number three uh who is counting Kim none of us who is counting time time has flown time has time is fly when you're having fun uh well we continue to have tornado warnings so welcome to the fun Kim yeah thank you uh tornado warnings tornado watches uh it's been quite a day I have been uh doing this on the television side but I thought I would join you here for the live stream let uh Melinda take a little bit of a break here and Perry Sound now out of the tornado warning so some good news there notic that they're out of the tornado watch as well so okay well that's optimistic anyway so we obviously still have widespread storms across the province and in Quebec as well but it's nice to see those tornado warnings coming to an end again severe thunderstorm warnings still in place all around Georgian Bay we've been seeing some decent storms Bubble Up in Southwestern Ontario as well yeah and uh we were mentioning around to the Bay of Georgian Bay they issued a marine warning for tornadoes as well so uh definitely that line of storms that's going to be our biggest concern um this one that we're tracking across eastern Ontario diminished in strength um not as favorable of an environment as you head towards the east so that's good news for Smith's Falls good news for Ottawa uh we still have some popcorn storms following behind it they're not severe warned uh but again not something you want to be stuck in but this this now is the area that we're going to be focusing on Kim as well as North uh uh into Quebec uh but this line I'm assuming has quite a nice shelf cloud on it I'm sure U Mark is running for the hills to try to see uh what that's looking like uh but severe thunderstorm uh warnings are in place in and around Owens sound ahead of this line uh heading towards you and when we see a line like this uh damaging wind gust strong wind gusts are my biggest concern the thing is you can see this coming from miles away so if you're on a boat hopefully you're not uh people can get in to shore quickly because you're going to be seeing a spectacular looking sky as this approaches I will not be surprised if we don't get a lot of video on this a lot of photos of this particular storm as it rolls in but obviously this can be very dangerous with the Gusty winds that we've been seeing with these storms the heavy downpours as well I'm sure that visibility will be poor if you're doing any kind of driving because this rain is incredible with the amount of moisture that's in the atmosphere it's insane I mean we you we typically have a lot of moisture across the Great Lakes but uh when it's timed well with the with the thunderstorm energy and all these triggers uh that's where we're getting into that severe criteria so it's now Southern Ontario's uh turn at the severe weather we can see our severe thunderstorm watches have been um pushed into London Kitchener waterl area so that is new that is now expanded we were watching these little popor corny systems of an area of convergence again they may just look like little blips on our radar here but they are going to look incredibly tall when you see them uh maybe if you're driving along the 401 yeah this will look very intense and especially because they pop up so quickly you could be driving along it seems like a calm kind of summer day for a lot of folks they're outside because temperatures are so warm it feels like the middle of July then all of a sudden these storms start to blow up right in front of you again it can get very dangerous especially if you're driving yeah and uh like we mentioned like I I think driving in the torrential downpours is going to is the scariest thing uh and then with the wind gusts uh it's a combination you really don't want to see so uh severe thunderstorm watches making their way in warnings uh issued uh as a system moves just north of Sarnia that will continue along the 402 uh north of petrolea maybe into Wyoming or Forest Ontario um we're talking about about Nick sized hail at this point in time and then I'll be interested to see what these storms do around Highway 8 as they head towards Kitchener uh we do still have ample thunderstorm energy to work with so I I would expect these to develop in the next 10 20 minutes um there have a look at just the last couple of radar scans you can see uh all this popcorn nature once that uh trigger finally hit onto Shore Owen Sound Handover Highway 6 Highway 10 again hopefully you're already home it is almost 7:00 uh because the sun's going down and the roads are going to get quite dangerous yeah I was thinking the same thing we're just past that real Rush Hour stage so that's good timing I mean it would be better if it was you know 8:00 but here we are and the thing is the Sun is up for so long this time of year in June I mean it takes a long time for us to yeah we love it yeah we love it but when it comes to a day like this it just takes a little bit longer for that energy to dissipate from the atmosphere because the sun is there just cooking things up there's look at the energy that's that's actually in the atmosphere so yeah we've got some pretty strong Cape yeah I mean this is current and those storms are just popping in uh and have a look at this red that they're walking into it's just like it's like when you walk into The Newsroom and someone baked cookies Melinda baked cupcakes or something it's uh it's incredible uh we will continue to watch them develop quite vertically uh heavy downpours as well and really all across Southern Ontario even into London and the water region we have sufficient Cape uh for these thunderstorms to continue to develop so uh expect further development in the next 30 minutes um again it's not so much the cold front that's causing these storms but uh we're looking at Lake breezes and some shortwave troughs that are ahead of the cold front uh the cold front's more so triggering that very strong line over Georgian Bay it will slice through the GTA more so overnight but have a look later this evening around 10 9 10:00 how much less uh thunderstorm energy we have to work with uh but we'll be talking about torrential rainfall I would believe across the GTA at that time yeah and I'm thinking there's going to be quite the lightning show as well with these storms as they move through and that's the thing at nighttime that's what's most dramatic usually about these storms is the non-stop lightning uh we're not expecting really tornadoes around the Golden Horseshoe but certainly we could get some pretty decent storms and a lot of people again on the roads I mean this is the most populated area of the country so when you get big storms like this they they really do have an impact oh yeah they have quite an impact and Kim they're going to have an impact on me cuz I'm trying to drive up to the cottage where all of these are um and I'm going to have to drive through this so I'll let you know how it goes but I'm sure it won't be it won't be a smooth ride that's for sure um so once again tracking uh severe thunderstorm warnings across Ontario and Quebec let's have just a peek at what our uh warnings and watches are looking like we still have a tornado warning up in Valor and areas towards the North or the South and East rather uh those have been ongoing since the stream has started so I mean we're we're probably gonna be looking at training thunderstorms hail uh and the rotation signature was just off the charts there uh but luckily uh only severe thunderstorm warnings at the moment across Southern Ontario which includes Perry Sound um Owen Sound uh the Bruce Peninsula and also Sarnia uh I would I would assume that we will be seeing some severe thunderstorm warnings uh around that kitchen or waterl region uh shortly and the thing is like any severe thunderstorm can produce a tornado the possibility is there so if you're under severe thunderstorm warning you're going to want to be extra cautious as well because they can produce again the heavy downpours the hail the lightning the damaging winds we're talking about winds to 100 kilometers per hour we're talking about hail uh tuni plus size it could be as as high as golf ball size so any uh severe thunderstorm has the potential to produce a tornado tornado warnings come up very quickly and that's why we are you know we urge people to get indoors as soon as that happens but again even under a severe thunderstorm warning you need to be extra vigilant because these storms are popping up very quickly yeah we're about to lose satellite but I did want to show that just that area of convergence Inland um that's in that London waterl region that's where we have uh our winds kind of uh coming together and that's popping up those little bubbles of uh of uh thunderstorm again that's going to continue to persist and then we have back here our stronger line you can see lots more bubbles across uh Georgian Bay um and even a brief tornado warning like you mentioned they pop in and out um but Perry Sound was in one not one not in one anymore which is good news um but I would expect some pretty torrential rainfall with this like just have a look at this is our how much moisture is in the atmosphere and this is current so we're already kind of in that mid uh to high as that pushes into the G ta uh later this evening yeah it's not going to be until after that front passes through that you're going to get the relief less less humidity for sure a much drier day but these storms are going to continue into the overnight they won't be quite as strong as the late afternoon evening storms but still this is going to linger a little bit longer yeah and uh that's where we'll be looking at impacts coming to the Golden Horseshoe uh Ottawa still much of Quebec uh and then eventually pushing into Atlantic Canada tomorrow tomorrow afternoon if you know anybody that's in New Brunswick give them a heads up because uh the juicy tornado ingredients may be spilling over into tomorrow to this is really taking a cross country Trek we had tornadoes in Manitoba last night now tornado warnings today in Ontario and Quebec and again Eastern Quebec and New Brunswick on tap for tomorrow look at the dramatic difference between temperatures in the South versus behind the front this is what we're talking about this completely different air MK yeah today was a play of the triggers I mean if we had that cold front uh like maybe 10 kilm South we would be uh talking about tornadoes across Southern Ontario widespread but because we didn't have as strong of that contrast um we we still saw those severe thunderstorms that continue but uh that cold front that dramatic contrast between cold and warm air uh that's what we really needed to take full advantage of this uh this environment but we're starting to see that uh now um just taking a look at how these storms have developed there we go uh one heading towards Kitchener getting a little bit more robust uh we're not talking about rotation just yet but probably some pretty heavy downpours and some nickel-sized hail yeah for the most part today the storms have been happening in less populated areas but areas that are really popular for camping and for going to the cottage makes them more dangerous exactly out on the boat if you started off the day without really paying attention to watches and warnings you would have thought well this is a decent day to be outside clearly that has changed but now these storms are moving into more populated areas more densely populated areas and again areas where people are going to be on the road as well yeah and we're getting into the summer so lots of people are heading up to the cottage just like myself um and in through the peris sound region have a look we've been talking about the torrential rain and here it was uh as that line pushed on Shore we did have a brief tornado warning in the area uh but this is what you can expect uh and again if you're driving it on the roadways imagine driving into this in 50 km per hour in backsplash it's going to significantly reduce your visibility um but again heavy downpours I think the rain is going to be the biggest threat once it makes its way towards the GTA um maybe some pooling and ponding if you do have to uh do any sort of driving uh but here's where the line is sitting right now kind of heading towards Bracebridge Huntsville um Midland kind of the uh shorelines of Georgian Bay um I would like to see if we have a good shelf on this I haven't uh heard any word from Mark yet but hopefully he'll be able to show us what this structure is looking like uh and then we have our popcorn storms ahead of it and we'll be expecting these to have quite a bit of vertical um uh up in the atmosphere uh looking probably uh more impressive on the ground than they do on radar right now but those are heading towards aliston Barry uh if you did not uh say The Weather Network told me to go home early and you're on the 400 um well be prepared cuz these are making their way towards them Yep this is on the way and this is the place where people travel to and from their their Cottage as well a lot of people commute from Barry to Toronto and if yes if they lingered back there might be into some uh trouble we've got Mark Robinson I think we're GNA go to him is that right I see him out yeah there he is the big uh the nod our storm our storm Hunter Mark you're out in it tell me what you're seeing uh you know what can not too much at the the moment uh you know I'm really watching this thing on radar the biggest issue that we've had uh with these storms is they are so far north and you know you can see them in the distance which is great but if you've got lots of trees like you can sort of see over there that's no good you can't see much but over here you know we got the horses in the field you can see to the West uh you know that's the that's sort of where you want to be so getting up in a Cottage Country can't see these storms very well I want to try and show you the storms what we're dealing with that line of storm though that is coming towards I'm going to say a good chunk of Southern Ontario uh is definitely producing I think more lightning than I've seen in the southern Ontario for a very long time which tells me there's going to be some big hail in there likely some high winds uh tornadoes not as likely when you have a line of storms like that usually you need those isolated storms at that point we're not at this point we're not really seeing that at the uh but it is coming towards you can see the gray skies it's slowly going that gray blue uh and that does tell me those storms now they are pretty far away I may head a little further west to try and get there before it gets dark but I think if uh if these storms continue with the strength they are uh and they have that lightning continuing to the South everybody in Southern Ontario may get one heck of a lightning show but keep in mind one thing I want to stress lightning is still the number one danger in thunderstorms tornadoes uh you know they're spectacular they're dangerous but lightning is what kills people the most make sure you're in shelter make sure you're inside you can watch that uh storm you know maybe from your window maybe inside your car uh but you know don't be standing out like I am right now if there was lightning I would not be right here mark it it sounds so windy where you are I'm I'm wondering if it feels almost sultry because it looks like you know just ahead of a storm that kind of atmosphere tell me how it feels out there oh I love that this is that feel I love this ominousness before the storm yeah we're it's definitely extremely humid um the winds are still going which is something I find really interesting uh because that means those storms are still able to really feed on the good atmosphere to the South they're being sort of force-fed by the winds uh but yeah it's that humidity that definitely tells me I'm still sitting in the middle of the fuel pool so lots of fuel for those storms as they come into Southern Ontario okay thanks Mark we'll be checking in with you soon enough we didn't see the shelf cloud we wanted to see there Rachel but uh you know we can still see that the storms are in the distance and on the way obviously from radar it's looking very dramatic maybe not right over where Mark is but if there's a storm to be found he'll find it he will find it I'm sure he's going to gun it a little further west and meet them uh right in the middle um but again let Mark go out and let us talk uh you put your feet up and stay inside because uh things are getting quite active uh if you started the stream with us we were talking about tornado warnings up in Quebec and uh near Timmons and have a look at how things have progressed it's moved farther south we've got that trigger in place uh the storms that are now under a severe thunderstorm watch in and around the Kitchener allora region uh north of Orangeville these ones I would assume uh would be getting uh into that uh what do you call that juice pool or thunderstorm energy fuel pool that's it um so expect these to continue to develop uh maybe a severe thunder morning coming to Kitchener uh so be careful along Highway 8 um and I believe that is no this one's Highway 10 uh so Highway 8 uh and in the Kitchener wal region those are the ones that I'd be worried about and then have a look at how this developed uh that's that line it's not looking very linear so this is where we could be maybe seeing some embedded rotation along the line which is quite dangerous uh but once it gets going I would expect it to take more of like a bow shape and then that's where we're going to be looking at damaging wind gusts one of the ingredients of these storms is large hail and we've got video from what happened earlier in Quebec check this out yeah what do you think ping pong maybe a little smaller but boy they're making a lot like Timbit Timbit they're just a little harder than Timbits yes so we've been getting a lot of video of this kind of thing wow I mean I'm glad this person's inside videoing this and not outside but I think you'd be taking cover pretty quickly if Hailstone this size started to pound down and this is exactly what is part of these really significant storms yeah I mean we still have a tornado watch in place so that means the ingredients are still present Mark is out there he says it's still hot and humid uh even though the sun's going down this time of year uh it it does help but I mean the energy and the Dynamics are still there uh looking uh just north of brace Bridge we could maybe see a little bit of rotation develop developing along this cell here uh as it continues to head towards the east or Southeast uh let me play this out so we can see the direction that this is moving I think I got it pretty good uh so areas through brace Bridge uh heading towards Minden uh this is an area that could possibly a uh get into some rotation uh so definitely want to keep uh keep a watch on that storm we'll have a look at what the next radar signature looks like um that that was uh eventually that used to be uh over Parry sound so that could be uh what was tornado warned and then you can kind of see these pinks here along the 400 um that means we're talking about the torrential rain that we saw H if not the hail that you're were just talking about yeah this is this is one of those messes if you're driving your windshield wipers are going to have to be working like triple time um because I I've been in storms like this where people are just pulling over to the side of the road um because they can't see it's just as bad as you know a snowstorm in some respects if you can't see you can't see whether it's rain or snow so this is going to be torrential it's not going to last long these storms are moving pretty quickly but when you're in it um it's going to be dangerous and we still have a uh tornado warning that has expanded across a big chunk of Quebec uh like we were mentioning these uh have been uh with us since the beginning of the stream uh they've continued to be with us throughout the stream uh it's the supercells uh that have exhibited rotation for scans for several several hours um they continue to make their way across Quebec uh so that warning has expanded um towards the east as they track around 50 km per hour it's a big warning Zone um but it's more so areas that are closer to Valor closer to the northern Edge paron is now in that warning so um Valor continues to be in it uh Lenor area as well um but most recently is pedant so that is the newest area added to that tornado warning um in Quebec so yeah this area has been hit time and time again these storms they just aren't letting up same place is getting hit with all this rain and wind and I'm thinking there's likely going to be some localized flooding I think so and maybe some wind damage too the the bow uh feature of the this line has kind of diminished uh a little bit but uh at least in the north I'd be a little bit concerned about once this line uh gets a little bit more linear down here I would expect there to be some sort of wind damage towards the north once that made it way through um but again have a look and it's it does appear that Quebec is maybe settling down a touch I mean we still I mean I'm saying that with a grain of salt because we still have tornado warnings in place uh but have a look at the contrast the deep deep Reds that are popping up across Ontario um again torrential rain we're talking about heavy heavy downpours we're talking about 20 to 50 mm of rain all at once uh this line is making its way towards the east Southeast uh Barry we're starting to see popup thunderstorms uh making their way um towards the east along the 400 and then uh once again uh Kitchener waterl get ready here comes that same kind of popup thunderstorm uh again probably looks a little bit uh more Dynamic on the ground but that one could uh maybe produce some pretty heavy downpours as well yeah no warnings in this area despite what it looks like here so obviously under the severe thunderstorm watch but maybe not enough to uh issue a warning another one coming in off of Grand Bend and they're just training off of uh Lake hiron right now and again there are those storms that are moving from Michigan to into uh past sarna now along the 402 so again we can see how many are popping up it's one of those things where it's not just the big line of storms that we're seeing uh across Georgian Bay and Northern areas of Lake hiron all these more Southwestern areas areas that are used to these storms coming off the Lakes they're the same places that get the lake effect snow in the winter so um the Lakes playing a big role in the kind of storms that we're seeing today again when we look at the satellite we can see that the highest clouds those are the ones that are really evident and when you see high clouds you know those are the ones that are producing The Heavy Rain potentially the hail as well look at yeah these lines so this is again this two lines of storms that are making their way through Lake Breeze convergence what is what we call it when you get the breeze between say Lake Erie and Lake hiron and then you get the storms firing up because of that temperature contrast between the cool Lake Breeze and that hot humid air that's in place right now yeah lots of hot and humid air even more hot and humid air uh coming in tomorrow uh or no sorry not tomorrow uh next week rather so after a lovely um Father's Day weekend uh that's where we're going to be looking at the potential for quite a heat wave across Ontario so we've given you the heads up uh again will continue to track the the heat wave we're talking about 30s maybe humidex of 40 uh by next week uh by Wednesday uh but first we have to get through this so uh tornado uh potential still on the table we continue to have tornado watches in place uh across much of Ontario and into Quebec we're starting to see that line make its way onto Shore uh getting closer to that Barry region closer to Aurelia and Orangeville you're still in a tornado watch the ingredients are still there uh that hot soupy air mass uh continues to be in place and then our tornado warning uh continues up in Quebec again I know it's a very broad area of a tornado warning but it's more so uh those that are uh in the uh North and uh West area of this warning here the good news is it's not a highly populated area it's a more rural area I mean it just whoever lives there is obviously going to be impacted but it's not like these high dense populations that we're seeing in Southern Ontario but those areas too are you know under the warnings just not the tornado warning kind of like what we saw in Manitoba most of those areas that were hit uh likely by tornadoes we saw vi video evidence of that yesterday are rural areas wide open areas which is the ideal scenario you don't want these moving into neighborhoods we've seen this before obviously in places like Barry and certainly in suburbs of Ottawa um right now we're just looking at severe weather across Southwestern Ontario it's bad enough may do some damage to your homes with the strong winds localized flooding we can see that as well and certainly if you're driving you have to be very cautious in weather like this yeah and that that trough is going to continue to deepen across Ontario and then the severe weather is going to make its way into Quebec and New Brunswick tomorrow so we have our upper level dynamics that are going to help these storms continue throughout this evening uh we have that high moisture content pretty much every box uh is checked off for me it's just that trigger the the table is set for Sunday dinner but uh the cold front's just a little bit delayed so we're still getting the severe thunderstorms um but we're not getting them as severe as Quebec saw them uh earlier today so taking a look at where we stand right now um we still have severe thunderstorm warnings in place across um the Georgian Bay Region Owen Sound uh probably getting quite a bit of a light show heavy downpours that will make its way into Handover fallingwood um uh Highway 6 Highway 10 more of the northern sections of these highways uh Barry looks like it is now in a severe thunderstorm warning uh so that is new that's an update uh a couple pop-up showers making their way towards them and then towards Highway 400 yeah a lot of areas now getting into the severe thunderstorm warnings basically it's following the storm so as they move from west to east uh warnings mean basically that the these storms are either happening or are on your doorstep so are imminent and that's why severe thunderstorm warnings are put in place right when you need to see them and then they are dropped usually when the threat is over so Barry now not surprisingly in that severe thunderstorm warning we're talking about this cold front moving through the later it moves through the less dangerous these storms are likely to be which is good news the problem too if this was say early May or something I don't we'd never have this kind of heat but the sun would set a lot earlier and these storms would have died right off but because the sun is out for much longer this time of year um you know we may still get some pretty strong storms yeah and we get some great southerly flow all day today so it's still quite sticky and humid let me take a look at what the uh what the temperature is currently if I can find it here so this is our current temperatures uh 7 o' still almost 30 Dees in Toronto you can see the cloud deck also starting to move into the city uh London also St Catherine so we're kind of probably seeing those cirrus clouds um maybe some U mid-level clouds making their way in ahead of the cold front just giving you a little bit of a heads up uh but thunderstorms through Sudbury msca uh showers down through Windsor Ottawa those ones are not severe just uh a little bit of showery activity and then that cold front eventually makes its way into the GTA uh we could time that out for you in the next hour or so concerns uh in and around the barrier region Cottage Country once again Orangeville uh then as we head into that 9:00 hour um maybe more so New Market um Bramton Miss Saga uh and then finally as we head into the just look at the GTA around 10:00 uh we can maybe see those showers pushing uh in a couple rounds Ottawa will see probably the worst of it as that line makes its way in around that 10:00 hour as well so uh I'll be pretty concerned about uh damaging wind gusts uh across sections of Quebec and also Eastern Ontario tonight kind of an ideal time 10:00 on a Thursday night not people you know hopefully are indoors by that Point obviously it's June so people are going to be outside as much as possible but you know timing of storms really matters are people going to be outside our kids going to be you know coming home from school that kind of thing so we have to pay attention to timing when it comes to these storms and again a lot of them just lingering into the overnight even in the morning hours we may see a few left this is a look at lightning as it continues through the overnight and again once you get lightning at night that's when you really see the show and it looks like many areas across Southern Ontario along the shores of Lake Ontario even into uh the Hamilton region are going to get this lightning yeah hopefully you're not a a light sleeper I know I'm not uh because it will likely be loud all this entire line uh that's just off of Georgian Bay uh I I would really like to you know what I can find out how long this is okay let's measure it you know a lot of a lot of people's dogs are afraid of thunderstorms as well so I mean you might not be uh or you might be a pretty decent sleeper but your dog might not be and could be keeping you up at night I know a lot of people get worried when there's a thunderstorm cuz their dog's going to be anxious about it my mom's dog is so anxious she has to get medicated so give Luna her pill now Mom you can you can hear me I know you're watching okay everyone else who does that yeah Now's the Time um looks like uh over 200 kilometers long uh stretching from King Cen into um intersections of uh Cottage Country uh heavy downpours once again uh I would say some nickel-sized hail with this some Gusty winds it's it's trying to take shape uh so we're still looking at areas of embedded rotation I would be still a little bit concerned about areas uh north of Bracebridge uh just because it's still quite cluster it hasn't quite figured itself out uh so the Dynamics could be could enhance uh the rotation along with a little bit of topography in this area um but overall I mean this is going to be quite something uh once it gets its way in towards Barry Kitchener uh Fergus starting to see those popup thunderstorms make their way towards you um again uh hopefully that you're not out on the roadways expect just a brief heavy downpour uh not as much as this line of thunderstorms this will be a little bit more long lived um and uh quite dangerous you can see that thunderstorm warning now expanded all the way into King Carton and Hanover if it's safe to do so and you capture some video of some really interesting storm Dynamics maybe it's the hail heavy show us the shelf cloud yeah show us the shelf cloud if you got it show us your shelfie as we like to say um you know you can tag The Weather Network so Weather Network maybe you're on Twitter or Facebook or whatever it is um and then we would love to show it to our audience as well so on all of our platforms so if you have the video and you want us to share it with everybody uh at weather network is where you can uh where you can tag us yeah and uh now standing by we have uh Jacqueline uh Jacqueline has been watching the stream watching all the action and uh hopefully you're caught up with everything that's going on across Ontario and Quebec she's anxious to jump in I have been watching well sure I mean it's a severe weather day you know me but I've been watching you guys uh all afternoon what a fantastic job what a great team effort all hands on deck uh on a day like this of course and boy these supercells I know Rachel you've been talking about it a lot have been very long track supercells uh across parts of back and for folks that don't know what that means that means the entire thunderstorm is rotating and that's what we've seen throughout the day Rachel's been showing it to us we still have in fact uh tornado warnings we can go and show you those right now uh up near parent and near forth I hope I'm saying that right in Quebec so there's the tornado warning there's the line of storms um I can go back and show you just a shot there we go of the tornado warning so this has been going on for literally hours as Rach Kim and Melinda have been tracking these storms throughout the day you can see just west of luk there north of molier uh and basically Environment Canada is saying that there's a potential tornado about 30 kilometers south of for Sith uh this storm is moving at 50 kilometers an hour and uh so once again tornado warning just as a reminder this a busy day and there can be a lot going on so remember go to an interior room the most Center Point in your home is the safe spot to be uh or if you have a basement uh that's even better so that's that's where we want you to be couple things that we've been watching I know that the ladies have been talking a lot about the temperatures it is hot it has been muggy it continues to be but you don't have to be a meteorologist to see the wind shift take a look at timid I know that's not reporting data right now but northwesterly winds uh have dropped the temperature significantly meanwhile we have some strong uh winds out of the Southwest ahead of the main front still from Toronto down to London and these are 40 to 50 km an hour winds you can see the the wind barbs actually on that map and there's the temperatur so moist muggy conditions and uh you know to the ladies that are in studio this is when it gets really interesting when you start to watch for those boundaries uh Rachel you've been talking about it quite a bit throughout the day where we get the winds coming off the lake you get that convergence uh right in the the area that you were talking about is where we're seeing those storms start to pop now so we get the cold wind off the Lakes the moist unstable air over say the 401 Corridor and we can all and often get some you know thunderstorms but those ones seem pretty weak um the ones that you know we're really watching closely are these ones Crossing through uh parts of you know Central Ontario uh from Owen Sound up to Perry Sound Huntsville now getting likely a hail or a downpour at the very least mctier over to Bracebridge down the 400 Highway 11 Highway 69 and into uh parts of Georg and Bay as well so we of course saw that uh Marine tornado warning issued today over the water and then that became a proper tornado warning in peris sound which has since dropped it has been a very active day and let's not forget ladies that it was the godri tornado right that started as a rotating supercell over water and came on land so it it does indeed happen uh I'll send it back to you guys in the studio um as we continue to track this active weather uh that is widespread across Ontario with tornado watches severe thunderstorm warnings and of course still that lingering tornado warning up in Quebec yeah you know it's been one of those days we were waiting for most of the day for those storms to hit the South they hit the north early Timmons Cochran were under those uh tornado warnings right out of the gate between 3 and 400 p.m. now that front is slowly making its way into these more densely populated areas kitchen or waterl for example uh these popup storms and then we've got this long line of storms that we keep talking Bo um that's extended across Georgian Bay Lake hiron area that is moving right into Cottage Country but the the threat is still ongoing for the next little while yeah it it definitely is I mean I think uh the the environment is slowly going to diminish in the coming um maybe hour or so it's still present but it's not as juicy as it was around that 4:00 hour if we had this uh timed maybe an hour or two ahead uh we would be talking about um pretty much what we're talking about in Quebec long supercells um I see that we have Mark uh he's setting up but before we get there I just wanted to show you the last I know it says 12 24 hours but this is the last really 12 hours of rainfall uh you can see those long track uh supercells that we were mentioning near Valor uh probably dropped about 50 to 75 millimet of rain where you see the yellow that's near 50 millim of rain uh in probably 3 or 4 hours and then across Southern Ontario um we're in that 20 to maybe 30 mm of rain uh with that line of storms again that that really only came up within the last hour or two so uh quite substantial rainfall expect this to begin to make its way into Barry uh and Toronto and then we're also tracking lots of hail cam yep the hail is going to be a problem for some we've seen a lot of visuals of the hail I can we go to this shot right now that storm Hunter has you were talking about this shelf cloud we got it well he got it he got it and and here it is wow just such a dramatic looking Sky just incredible storm Hunter Mark Robinson this is uh this is what we were thinking you would find and indeed you did tell us more yes yeah this what you're looking at right now is the inflow region of this storm uh Kim you if you look over there I mean it might be a little bit hard to see through the camera but you can see a little bit of like it almost looks green it's got that greenish blue that is likely uh the large hail I mean there's definitely hail in there uh haven't seen any sort of cloud to ground hits yet for the lightning uh but definitely it's flashing pretty good and if we just turn uh if you just turn it like down you can sort of look straight down that shelf cloud right there absolutely amazing this is what we sort of were waiting for uh to sort of see this and we had to go a lot further north than I originally expected I thought I might have to go you know maybe as far as Barry looks like a little further up I'm in Wen uh so we're just looking right out over the water perfect spot uh now the way we might tackle this one is as this one comes a little closer we may sort of go south down the 400 uh back towards Barry and and you know continue on as this one begins to push through does it's still feeding on good air that's the one thing I want to emphasize we're still sitting at 30° here uh very humid very sticky so lots and lots of fuel uh for this storm it's going to continue towards us we're going to stick around it's not racing so we have some time to sort of watch this and get an idea of like just the spectacular spectacular uh aspects of this storm just absolutely amazing to be able to see it out over the lake like this yeah where are you exactly Mark uh I'm in Wabash right now uh right down on the water um so just that's just uh sort of north of moonstone uh north of uh almost due north of Barry right now okay what a scene and we've been seeing the lightning in that storm right around the green area that you were pointing out uh yeah we don't want you to get too close to that storm when it comes to lightning I know you never take any chances but what a dramatic shot and this is exactly the kind of image that we were anticipating with this line of storms it's it's one thing to look at it on radar Rachel it's another thing to witness it firsthand yeah it's it's crazy we're looking at the radar we're seeing I'm I'm like it's got to be a nice looking shelf and then actually seeing what Mark is seeing it's absolutely incredible and again remember that is spanning over 200 kmet across Southern Ontario so this is a site that air that places like Handover all the way to Huntsville are looking at just incredible wow okay so these storms have been bringing in some heavy rain we were talking about that the hail as well and the green is an indication and certainly the lightning obviously lightning is extremely dangerous no matter if a a thunder St is severe or not uh it's always going to be dangerous with lightning there's the line as it looks on radar that this is what is producing that shelf cloud and it is just an incredible length over 220 kilometers long and moving in a southeasterly direction and again bringing that Heavy Rain those powerful winds along with it anywhere along that line is currently under a severe thunderstorm warning I don't think we have to worry about rotation on this it's so linear um but still dangerous weather nonetheless yeah and in the warning it talks about from soggy Shores Handover dundock Barry Callingwood Midland Owens sound uh it's talking about up to 100 kilometer per hour in wind gust which I again not surprised uh especially with uh a structure like this and typically uh and also quarter siiz hail pardon me but typically uh Kim when we're talking about severe weather uh we're talking about the you know isolated discreet hit and miss storms not everyone's going to see them pretty much everyone's going to see this yeah everybody who's in the line of this is going to get something for sure yeah this is not we have isolated storm cells to the South around the Kitchener area but it's that line that's going to be impacting a lot of people and we're still seeing those tornado watches they're still in place so again Environment Canada hasn't dropped them yet that means there's still potential for rotation on these storms but again heavy rain if you're driving in this it's going to be very difficult because we're talking about near zero visibility and pouring rain like this and again the hail problematic winds close to 100 kilometers per hour so yeah these are significant strong storms along this line and it can do some damage it doesn't have to be a tornado doesn't have to be rotating we can get straight line winds that are powerful as well yeah I think we probably had some damaging wind gusts uh just want to loop back um uh in Valor very similar structure with that line of Storms and this is what it looked like uh again a shelf cloud Valor uh earlier today um maybe not as picturesque as the one that um that Mark saw but was definitely dangerous uh I would not be surprised if we got damaging wind gust just based on the radar signature after it made its way out but look at that it's like a wall of cloud gunning at you at 50 to 60 km per hour uh I mean that was quite something and uh and south of this line is where we had those long track um supercells um we continue to see those be tornado warranted uh but they've been in place for I want to say 3 to 4 hours and they dropped this we are talking about nickel siiz tail yeah this is about I want to say pingpong in Quebec yep that's that's significant I'm glad they're shooting from inside the house because that can get really dangerous if not painful uh hopefully nothing gets broken as result that people's cars may be dented with hail this size and there's not much you can do if you don't have a garage I mean if your car is outside it's outside uh unless you cover it with a sleeping bag or something I don't know what you're going to do uh in in storms like this but if you do have a a car where you're concerned about its paint job you're under a severe thunderstorm warning I would do whatever you can to maybe protect it because U there's nothing you know there's nothing else we can tell you to do when it comes to hail it's going to be problematic for farms for Gardens as well um hail can be very damaging not my tomatoes H they were just doing so well but hey it's the nature of the summer uh again areas that are going to be uh impacted are in a severe thunderstorm warning so ahead of this line Barry Aurelia um heading towards Orangeville Alliston Keswick um and then all the way out into Cottage Country H Burton's going to be hit by this it's already been hit by numerous severe thunderstorms uh some cells that have popped through uh so again uh torrential rain we're talking about very intense heavy downpours not something you want to drive in especially as the sun goes down and then we have some uh popup thunderstorms kind of down south so those ones will be impacting Kitchener uh Georgetown Brampton uh in the coming moments maybe some uh isolated downpours with this but overnight we're going to be concerned with this line continuing to Sag South uh across maybe the GTA I want to bring in Jaclyn whle I think we have her here too jacine is a seasoned stormchaser and you know when we talk about storm chasing in places like Ontario it's you know almost worst case scenario uh we like the Prairies for storm chasing that kind of thing but Jacqueline let's talk a little bit about why it's so dangerous in Ontario to do anything like this uh I missed sorry the part of the first part of your question there Kim what what was the question about being so dangerous I didn't have you in my uh ear oh that's okay so I'm saying that you are a season stormchaser uh storm chasing in Ontario IO is less than ideal let's talk about why ah 100% agree especially as you get into uh Central Ontario and into Cottage Country and the main reason Kim is because we have a ton of trees and hills and rock and those kinds of things so it's very tough to see the storm base of the clouds so the base of the thunderstorm is where a lowering would reveal itself we call that a wall cloud so if the storm is rotating the whole base of the storm is called a mesocyclone that's the first stage to see a funnel cloud to possibly see a toric storm so you want to have a visual of that if you can't see the wall cloud then you don't really know what's going on from the wall cloud down to the ground so it can be very uh sketchy to to chase in that part um of Canada really uh you know there's other parts too Northern Ontario of course very highly treat parts of Quebec uh speaking of Quebec we still have these ongoing tornado warnings and Rachel modestino would and you Kim would you guys been talking about this for hours it's like The NeverEnding supercell or at least cluster of supercells so we still have this one near parent and for Sith uh that's still in place you can see east of Amos east of Valor almost as uh far east as luk the good news is is this is not a I don't think a terribly populated area but again a lot of trees uh potentially lightning strikes going on um so we do have a tornado warning in that area just a reminder to everyone to take shelter in a basement if you are watching us from that region get to the lowest level possible in your home and that's where you want to be now uh kind of a recap for anybody that's been joining us uh maybe just in the last I don't know 15 20 minutes we've been talking about the severe threat throughout the day um and we have had uh tornado watches in place so not warnings but watches uh we this was our risk our thunderstorm forecast put out by our team of meteorologists and uh the red was indicating severe likely potential look at where it includes over to mon laer bangro we've seen a tornado warning there back to the West in King Carden and through areas like peris sound where we have had tornado uh warnings now at this point again uh the only tornado that warning is the one in Quebec um you know a real muggy air mass is really what set the stage for this I know Kim McDonald and Rachel have been uh talking about this temperatures because of daytime heating because the sun set so much later this time of year we still have a lot of energy we call it cape it stands for convective available potential energy all it means is how how easily can we get um air to rise into the atmosphere so look at this 29 degrees that's muggy that's hot there's a lot of moisture we have strong southwesterly winds in Southern Ontario right now so let's just go to the radar before we take it back into the studios because there's the storms that are uh tornado warn still you can see there on that last shot that's the big magenta color that's the tornado warning up in Quebec of course A lot of these are are embedded likely embedded areas of rotation because they have all these storms have kind of joined hands and theyve become a line of storms uh a Squall line and that's what we have also been seeing down through Cottage Country um you know if you live in Bracebridge in Huntsville and then east of that area like Minden and over to the korthas heads up because you've got a pretty powerful line of storms coming your way as Kim and Rachel have been talking about and Melinda today hail is a big threat if you planted your annuals like we all have and we're as Canadians so excited like Rachel said my tomatoes it's true because you know this can come through a heavy downpour can shred those annuals unfortunately if you can protect them now is the time to do it in areas like HTT and over to Minden but you don't have much time because these are moving fast Gravenhurst you're still in the clear at this point Southern Parts uh from say the airport from Bracebridge down to Gravenhurst down in through wio and all the way down south on Highway 11 to Aurelia you're pretty well in the clear you've got light rain but you can that line of Storms and this was the same storm line that was tornado warned up through Perry Sound we saw a view of Mark Robinson and showing the Shelf nature to that that's basically because you've got this is why we get a shelf cloud you've got this tight reflectivity gradient right whoops it just of course updated as I did that but we've got this see where the the Reds go to Yellow go to green that's indicating um precipitation the red so it sharply drops off so that says that there's nothing and then there's a lot of rain or potentially hail that's where the Shelf begins so that's where the cloud is moving in cold air is coming out of it strong winds are coming out of that shelf cloud and they can often be damaging at this time so we'll watch uh ladies to see you know what kind of output is coming from this line of storms you know is Callingwood going to lose power uh is elmville and these areas stainer crore um we'll watch this line closely as it gets a little bit closer and inches its way uh through the rest of Ontario yeah it's going to be one of those days where there might be some damage and the next day you go out and you see what what happened I've been in a cottage where we had a down burst once you wake up the next morning all you hear are chainsaws because there were so many trees down there trying to get them off all of the pathways and all the roadways I'm hoping that this is not the scenario with this particular storm but again a lot of people would be impacted not that it's highly a populated area but because it is just such a massive storm it's just such a long long line of severe weather here's another look at our temperatures again look at the contrast between what's happening ahead of the cold front versus what's behind the cold front temperatures yes you know it might be a bit deceiving to see Toronto at 29 but it feels like the low to mid-30s I would think so especially with the amount of thunderstorm energy that we have uh still in the atmosphere this is a current look we still have those Reds and oranges uh in lands in and around Berry so that that long front is going to be um creeping farther Inland and uh still has ample thunderstorm energy to work with until we get into the overnight we're going to talk to Mark Robinson coming up we just want to show you a quick look at what he's looking at right now look at that rain this is exactly what we're talking about so we'll be checking in with Mark when he sets up but that's a look at what he is seeing right now heavy down PO is coming at you again if you're driving in something like this look at that I mean just the visibility worsens there's lots of lightning in there as well and again looks like a little bit of hail too I'm not sure if that's just the how the rain but uh nonetheless we're going to be checking in with our storm Hunter momentarily and again yeah he won't be standing outside if that lightning is going strong though it would make for great uh stream content yes it would but you know dangerous we want we want our storm Hunter to be as safe as possible look at these watches and warnings still widespread across two provinces right now yeah and so he uh Mark is just North of Barry he said so right up here he just got that beautiful shot of the the storm line with the shelf cloud now he's stuck in it even though he was probably trying to outrun it a little bit but it is moving quite quickly indeed uh hanging out right over Wasa Beach uh will be momentarily affecting Barry the 400 uh hopefully there's no traffic on the roadway uh as a reminder do not park under underpasses it's super dangerous especially when repair that with gusts up to 100 km per hour The Underpass acts like a channel uh so it actually intensifies the winds uh and you can also be putting a lot of folks at risk that are stuck behind you that's right people might not see you and they're coming now through the underpass and you can get hit yeah very dangerous spot people think that they're going to be sheltered in an overpass it's the absolute wrong thing to do uh still widespread severe thunderstorm warnings our tornado watch remains in place as well and again if if you're under a tornado watch it's different from a warning a watch means and it was issued very early on that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to happen uh but right now these severe thunderstorm warnings is what you should be aware of because that means it is happening yeah exactly just because maybe uh where the Thunder or the tornado threat is going to slowly diminish does not mean that you're not going to be impacted by something we had all severe hazards on the table large hail torrential rain damaging winds and uh a few tornadoes so um you it doesn't just take a tornado to make a severe event you also have all other three still at play making its way across Southern Ontario at the moment uh the cells near Lista well I would assume that these ones would pick up in intensity um and kind of join in on this line uh momentarily uh areas like through Handover it sounds like Mark is uh on his drive and wants to uh maybe tell us he's expecting or what he's seeing wow look at the rainfall coming down Mark can you hear us yeah can you hear anything in there mark yeah yeah uh Kim we just had a really big wind shift we had the winds coming from One Direction and they just shifted around and hit really really hard so I was uh potentially having to sort of switch the car around uh just in case of flying debris um when that when the when the line hit us wow um I I actually got a little bit nervous because when you have this big windshift that does mean you might be under an area of rotation we had a uh one of those outdoor toilets just go flying uh you know those winds really hit us hard and fast we're going to have to uh move out of here uh just because I want to make sure that uh we're not in any danger now because we're right beside the the lake uh I'm not really worried about fllying debris um you know if we're Inland a little bit definitely a bigger problem uh but definitely like I I'm going to roll the window down just for a second it's raining like you wouldn't believe so you can just get an idea of what you can see there it's coming straight in and I'm getting soaked so I'm going to roll it back up like horizontal to is why I always bring a towel with me uh just to keep everything clean yeah um and it's just not stopping now if man if you take the you sh like look clear sky like clear sky over there and we're still getting these you know very very strong winds so if you are in front of this line that is what to expect as it comes towards you so yeah there could be some seriously damaging winds uh in this line uh where you are so definitely uh you know this is not one to fool around with uh just be prepared that uh you could be into some significant severe weather uh as this line sweeps by yeah thanks Mark yeah that's scary when you have a wind shift like that uh especially if you're on the road I mean uh and the rain we were talking about the fact that you could have almost zero visibility Mark is safely parked but if you were driving and that storm came upon you and we've been looking at how quickly these storms have been moving uh you can find yourself in a dangerous situation pretty quickly yeah and especially if you're maybe not even driving uh like a a sedan but trucks uh they can easily get taken advantage of if it if a wind shift happens so unexpectedly um trying to find uh some current wind directions here's some current winds I mean just for the GTA but you can kind of get the sense oh that one's not going to be working um but you can kind of get the sense uh we're still in that southerly flow and then that chain up kind of happens uh just north of Barry there where that uh short wave and the trough is going to make its way through so uh yeah expect that sudden uh wind shift expect some very Gusty winds ahead of this line it'll continue as we head through the overnight hours into eastern Ontario uh potentially affecting uh the GTA later tonight um and then that sideways rain I mean we knew it was coming right you could see it coming look at this line of Storms and we can tell too by the colors the Deep or the red when we're getting into those dark even Purple colors that's how heavy that rain is coming down it looks like we have a tornado warning a new tornado warning that's issued uh I believe it's going to be the same the same brace Bridge storm that we were uh mentioning a couple of uh times uh probably somewhere here but I'm going to uh bring in Jacqueline uh who's been keeping a watch on uh Ontario's Cottage Country and there's the new tornado warning Jack yeah you're bang on ra we're looking at tornado warning for fennel and Falls Balsam Lake Park Northern kortha Lakes Bracebridge uh Gravenhurst halberton Minden Southern halberton County so you are uh correct that is the area there if you live along Highway 11 from brace Bridge down to Graven Hurst you want to be taking shelter if you live anywhere near halberton and uh over to parts of the corth as as far east is almost Bob cinjun this is the time to make sure you go into shelter uh in the base of your home the lowest level possible if you don't have a basement take uh the best spot in an interior room uh in the center point of your home closet hallway bathroom uh get under a piece of sturdy Furniture uh cover yourself with mattresses blankets these are the kinds of things take it seriously folks because um these storms have shown rotation throughout the day uh I don't know that any of us really saw that one was going to become warned because um well let's just go to the radar here and show you this is a line of storm so you can see now the the purple the magenta color there that you see is the tornado warning but this is what they're warning it's it's these storms it's this isolated storm here likely so it it could be some embedded rotation and some of these notchy areas sometimes we can get some rotation happening but it's it's it's not a typical isolated supercell per se because this is a line of storms that is all connected together so like I said sometimes you can get these um uh embedded areas of uh rotation and it's possible that this one could be showing signs of rotation let's just show you the loop here we'll Zoom back out so once again those tornado warnings in effect for brace bridge over to parts of the korus halberton is included in that uh Minden uh let me just go back to Okay so we've got the we've got a couple tornado warnings we got the one still going strong up in Quebec um and then and this is the newest one here so Gravenhurst Bracebridge halberton um all those areas balam Lake Park Northern kortha Lakes halberton Minden Southern halberton County so my brother actually lives in Bracebridge uh ladies and he said oh boy it's getting kind of kind of crazy here and I said well maybe you should think about going indoors and uh sure enough the tornado warning was issued just shortly after that so um something that we do need to keep a close eye on the difference by the way between a tornado watch cuz you're saying wait a minute we've had tornado watches all day yes you have that meant that conditions are favorable for ttic development now you have a warning that means we just upped at a notch right or environment candidated this is when there is evidence based on radar um or maybe someone has seen something even a a funnel cloud potentially that kind of thing a spotter a mark Robinson in the field uh where a tornado is imminent so now is the time to take shelter so I'll throw it back to you ladies in the studio but that's a look at the tornado warning uh you know kind of hot off the presses here at The Weather Network thanks jacine we're looking right now at what uh forecasters and meteorologists would have been looking at from Environment Canada to issue this particular warning yeah I'm trying to look uh here and see some embedded rotation along the line of storms um uh near matville matville um it does look like there is some uh radar indicating um some rotation and then also towards the and East so extending out to Horseshoe Lake uh these areas are all north of Minden so I'm going to uh just zoom into the area that I was just noticing that was the tornado uh warning uh I mean it does expand into again a very wide area if you're south of Minden you should be in the clear uh but Minden halberton my right where my Cottage is uh at least this is happening now um but it's kind of these two pockets uh that I'm that I'm keeping a close watch on so it was was that same uh kind of brace Bridge system that moved towards the uh the south and east and uh you know we were looking at maybe it could get stronger maybe it could rotate and it does appear uh that there is some rotation on it so again uh if you are in Minden you're probably going to want to get inside um rotation uh along this this section more of the northern edge of this uh very big line that Mark was just experiencing yeah this if you're not familiar with this part of the country this is prime place for people to have Cottages uh beautiful area and again so many trees that's a problem again when it comes to uh tornadoes or possible tornadoes and trees coming down um that's what we'd be more most concerned about losing power that's obviously a problem as well so again the fenin Falls Balsam Lake area kortha lakes Bracebridge uh Gravenhurst halberton Minden and Southern halberton County are all currently under that tornado warning which was just recently issued but when we look at this line of storms I mean a lot of people are in some severe weather right now yeah all the way from Cottage Country across Barry it's just on your doorstep you're probably seeing that uh intense shelf cloud but like Mark said uh and we saw him experience just 10 minutes later uh you're going to be in the thick of it and then this expands all the way out into Highway 6 uh so south of Owens sound uh north of Orangeville uh so all the way from Highway into Cottage Country I mean we're talking about hundreds of kilometers long uh and embedded rotation you can see these Pockets here Kim with the with the Deep Reds and the purples uh me and Melinda were talking a lot about what that means there are heavy downpours uh that's the reflectivity that's coming back to the radar uh and when you get those deep deep purples that's typically a sign of hail so nickel sized hail and then we'll be watching this pocket uh heading close to Minden now uh just past me Ville um again this this does look like uh heading towards halberton so uh again if you know somebody who's maybe already at the cottage give them a phone call make sure that they got that alert y I was thinking you you know a lot of people want to say okay I'm going to ditch the cell phone I'm going on vacation but you need it actually for um alerts that's what's that's why you need it to have it nearby sure don't use it don't do the social media but please have your uh cell phone nearby when it comes to anything like tornado watches and warnings especially when you're out uh in the middle of nowhere you're maybe you're on the lake somewhere maybe you're just camping that kind of thing so that that's why it's important and to have a plan to know where to go in case severe weather does happen like it's happening right now yeah I always have to text a friend or family member once I get there kind of every day during and after severe weather just to to check in because it's so dangerous you're so isolated when you're kind of away from home and in these very uh forested areas maybe you didn't see the uh shelf cloud as dominant as uh as Mark saw cuz he was right on the lake and watching it come in so um we'll also be looking at uh the potential for the uh if this is producing a tornado to be quite rain wrapped so we're not going to really be able to see it as well on the ground so uh any anyone that is along a Highway 35 Minden doorset uh into halberton you are going to be under the gun for uh this potential tornado anyways it's a tornado warn storm and here's some video out of Midland from a little bit earlier look at this yeah we had to cut out the swearing on this one but we can understand why this person is exclaiming what he's explaining because uh yeah holy because this rain is coming in sideways the wind is just incredible so this is what you can expect with these storms so just uh keep that in mind okay jacine has something now too she's looking at rotation in these storms we're going to take uh we're going to take it back to jacine just for a moment here she's got a look at the uh the velocity that's happening with these storms yeah just only because Rachel and I were trying to figure out where is this embedded rotation what what is environment Canada seeing so a couple things that I'm going to show on our system which are kind of not the easiest to see but there's some pretty strong reflectivity there coming up on that storm so that's probably indicating some hail and I just want to show you the velocity d dat because uh you can see over here where my cursor is toward the radar and away from the radar so basically the radar is down uh in in uh King City excuse me in Buffalo so we've got basically winds coming this way and winds going this way so that means that a storm is potentially rotating now this is not a for sure for sure thing but it gives me an idea that yes there is some velocity there's some radar data that supports the fact that that is likely rotating um if I go back out to our normal view it corresponds with exactly where we thought that little notchy area was Rachel we were looking at that area and now if I go back to the velocity data it comes up in the same area so that is where the rotation is that's where uh environment candada is concerned about the rotation um in terms of the overall motion of this line of storms we can see uh they are slowing down but you can see that this moving kind of uh east Southeast um and so that means that any of that rotation is on the way so if you live in Minden uh I would be you know heads up time to get into shelter a because you're on a tornado warning but legitimately seeing that rotation heading uh in your direction so I just wanted to share that with you uh once again that tornado warning still in effect I don't think it has expanded has it expanded a little bit further south it may have um maybe you ladies know they may have let's see here yes I believe oh no it's still in place okay no I it's still in place yeah and I've got uh halberton Minden Southern halberton County so basically that same that whole area that you know we're seeing the rotation this whole area has got to be uh on guard right now Minden included halberton brace Bridge it's sort of leaving your neck of the woods right now uh whoops let's see if I can do that uh you know Gravenhurst it's it's over top of you right now you're probably getting a pretty heavy downpour I would imagine uh and as you guys have been saying I mean this line is it's not that uncommon but we have a long Squall line stretching uh from from well that pretty much that region so this whole area is expecting thunderstorms in the coming hour or two for sure I'd like to think that they will weaken out a tad from now till then but of course that tornado warning is what we are all about right now at The Weather Network and making sure that you are aware there is not just that one there is still an ongoing tornado warning in Quebec uh this has been going on for some time this is in a much less populated area lots of trees um potentially trees coming down this on the other hand as we know is you know Cottage Country so highly populated a lot of people may be heading up to the cottage early so this is the area if you live in this area now is the time to get away from glass doors windows this is not the time to take out the smartphone and start uh videoing get to shelter take this one seriously thanks Jaclyn yeah we can see obviously on the radar there where they were seeing the rotation on this storm so again um it's hard to see because it is so linear this is like a big line of storms over 200 kilometers long bringing in torrential rains obviously those very strong winds we've witnessed that with our storm Hunter Mark Robinson who felt the winds shift while he was outside while he was in his car you could actually feel it um the rain coming in sideways so yes this is a a mess if you're not under that tornado warning you're likely under a severe thunderstorm warning and again these storms possibly creating tornadoes that could be on the ground we are not sure yet but just judging from the radar there certainly some rotation in the storms themselves whether or not a tornado materializes is you know we'll find that out later but again this is the kind of weather you definitely want to be indoors yeah Minden H Burton those are going to be the areas of my most concern um and again rotating um rotating winds ahead of the line uh that is going to be the concern that's why you are in a tornado warning uh as well as we did see a couple scans with some rotation embedded within the line uh and I'm also seeing an indication of that purple once again uh some maybe larger hail heading right towards Hall Burton uh so again uh this is going to be just east of Highway 35 uh these areas are going to be uh the biggest concern in the coming moments and then as Jacqueline said uh anyone kind of ahead of this line uh maybe give it 30 minutes and uh we'll be you'll be seeing what we're all talking about right it's not going to be long before you're under this as well again this is a lot of people will be impacted by the very same system so this whole line of storms there's a few separate cells to the South but they look like they want to join the party they look like they want to get in on this long line and just keep on trekking Eastward East and Southward still a tornado watch in place indicating that we still have the ingredients for possible tornadoes and then within the watch we have severe thunderstorm warnings and our tornado warning around the Bracebridge halberton Minden area yeah now now Barry's getting involved you can see as it sags a little bit F farther south with those little popcorn storms uh heading in front of that line uh have a look at brace Bridge wow look at that green that I I believe that's right when we said we were noticing uh the the shelf and the the cluster of storms kind of converge over brace bage holy it's like a it's a wall and how look how low the cloud base is too uh if this thing was rotating it could easily spin up a tornado uh just because of the how close it is to the ground yeah just stunning looking these are best seen across a lake or across the water when you can see it from a very far distance you don't want this to be on top of you clearly you can see that it's dry wherever this is being shot but in the distance just a stunning looking shelf cloud and again that's the Leading Edge of this storm system so if you see something like that okay sure take the video then get inside um I'm also seeing some pretty good hail signature right over Horseshoe Valley just outside of Aurelia uh I know it's not picking up on this radar but there's some pretty good hail signature there uh again maybe nickel maybe ping pong I think we're closer to the to the uh the money size hail maybe nickel and Looney uh across this area um and then the storms that are towards the South have picked up a little bit of intensity we'll see if we get any sort of warnings as we head into Orangeville which is still under the uh tornado watch uh but have a look at how this has formed uh in through halberton I want to say this is the area that we need to keep a close watch on uh south of Dorset uh making its way right into halber I think this is going to be uh the area of uh of big concern uh I'm going to have to drive to my Cottage uh later tonight and hopefully it's still standing yeah hopefully it's still standing hopefully there's no trees on the ground uh it's about to pass over Highway 35 again heading towards the South uh and East uh there's that that pink signature again with the hail um yeah this is such a robust line um tapping into some really good Dynamics across uh areas of cottage country really good topography uh helping th those storms spin up a little bit let's talk a little bit about the science behind a Squall line let's go back to Jacqueline she's got the definition for you because boy it looks exactly like what we're talking about here yeah it's very common when we start to see our winds become parallel with the front that's triggering the storm so we know we have humidity we know we have heat we've got all this moisture and and juicy air mass right but then it's what's triggering it well in Tornado Alley sometimes it can be a front sometimes it can be a dry line so dry air from the desert Southwest moving into a moist air mass in this case usually in the Great Lakes it's a cold front um and so we have a cold front that's working its way through it still hasn't moved through completely in this area but what that means is that it's a complex of storms that we've seen fire up throughout the day and then they become linear they become like a line because of that front um and that's much more difficult to get tornadic storms when they're all forming a line what it usually means is strong winds uh large hail and uh and heavy heavy rain so I I'm going to go back to a couple things here I'm going to show you the current winds across uh Southern Ontario look at the direction predominantly in Southern Ontario we've got kind of a south to west southwest wind strong too by the way at about 50 kilometers an hour well if we go to the radar I mean it's no wonder that we have this linear structure because we've got winds that are all coming from this direction and then we've got the front that is also you know it's probably further back but it's kind of oriented like that so in other words everything's just joining hands and becoming this long line of storms because the winds are parallel as opposed to winds say coming from this direction well then that can keep a lot of these storms isolated because it's almost like it separates them like this that's not the case today the winds are parallel we're St starting to see everything lined out earlier this afternoon as Rachel modestina would tell you too uh when you were tracking these storms up in Northern Ontario they were far more isolated they were far more discreet and then the winds sort of the the front is positioned with those surface winds it starts to become parallel and then you get the line not now that sounds all good on paper what's it mean well it means very strong winds because now you've got all these thunderstorms that are lined up together and producing oh you know in excess of 100 kilometer an hour wind so this is when you can get tree damage um and things like that you know that can really be damaging so we will be watching for that especially at Rachel's Cottage and many other people's Cottage Cottages the other thing we've been watching for a little while now is the risk of rotation so I'm going to switch over to my more localized radar and see what our velocity data looks like now and now what this is it still has a bit of an embedded area of rotation it's further east than where was earlier earlier it was a boat like this um so we're going to watch that this whole line you see how watch the green track the green so you can see the green and now it's further east right past that Highway whatever runs from Dorset to Minden I'm afraid I don't know but anyway the the rotation is here it's weak rotation but there's still a tornado warning on this and this line is kind of moving uh yeah I guess kind of in this direction maybe maybe kind of Eastward um earlier it was kind of sagging to the South but right now it kind of looks more like it's going due east so I would say halberton right now under the gun for very strong uh winds hail and the potential for that rotating uh storm in the area so again the tornado warning still and a an effect wait did it drop yes it's still in effect and so that's an update but that's basically a Squall line you know means strong winds but we can certainly get uh rotating storms within the St the Squall line okay thanks for that jacine great explanation of what a Squall line is we've talked in the past about dichos let's talk about why this is not that uh well it hasn't traveled uh far enough distance just yet I believe it has to travel uh 50 or 100 K hundreds of kilometers I want to say um so if this can persist from where it began let's say it began back here if it can persist across the lake and maybe uh over into the states overnight uh and it has that long lived feature and it travels x amount of distance um and produces uh damage along with uh or in front of it with the very Gusty winds then we would classify it as a duratio it's almost like uh when you see a funnel it's not a tornado until you see that damage and you assess it so after the fact exactly so after the fact we will uh we will be able to see how far it's gone what the damage is um but I mean it's going to be quite heavy rain hail uh we still have that uh tornado warning that um that jacine was mentioning uh Highway 35 was the highway between Dorset and Minden uh so heading towards Hall Burton uh that rotation signature you can see the Pink as well uh that's an area of of some very strong up and down drafts so that's housing uh quite a bit of hail um maybe nickel maybe pingpong sized hail um tapping into a lot of that moisture and uh that that thunderstorm juice that we've uh continued to see throughout today so we still have that tornado warning I'll show it one more time I'm more so concerned with areas like in the northern section so that halberton Minden area not so much uh Bob cun or uh kabok conk um but more so halber Burton goodham uh and then heading into bankof yeah okay so more more Northern locations and sometimes the problem is that the warnings are for entire counties or entire regions uh and so they can't get too specific of where the storm is so that's what we're here for and again some places may be under a tornado warning but the storm is not really near where they are although this is such a long uh area of storms that you may get hit with something regardless if it's a tornado or not you're still looking at some really intense weather including those heavy downpours we can get 50 millimeters in a matter of an hour or two in some of these cases because I mean you can literally feel it in the atmosphere so much moisture so much humidity and once this line goes through once that cold front rolls through it's going to feel dramatically cooler and drier but in the meantime this is coming into a setup that is perfect for severe weather well it does look like uh Mark saw the the uh shelf cloud he experienced all the rain uh and Mark is this after the fact now uh hey I'm just headed south uh so concentrating on multiple things right now just can you a little bit uh definitely headed back towards Barry and the winds that we getting hit with uh sideways on the car are are you know both hands on the wheel uh because these winds are bouncing me pretty good I'm trying to get south of Barry there is a bit of very strong winds I potential rotation near crore that has me a little bit concerned because uh we may end up right underneath that as we sort of pass south of Barry uh that always you know concerns me just a little bit especially you know as we are in a uh you know tornado watch uh so I'm I'm just sort of keeping my head on a swivel as we try to punch through this line uh and get south of the line so that we can so that we can actually get down there and see it again but we are you know probably having technical difficulties this happens in the middle of these storms severe thunderstorm warnings now have been extended Orangeville New Market Port Perry so again as the storms continue to move South and East the warnings are popping up just ahead of the storm itself so if you are in these areas uh an alert has maybe gone off or you're looking at your phone and you see you're now under a severe thunderstorm warning um the storms are coming so they're not there yet but this is the heads up that they're on their way there's no chance likely that they're going to be dissipating before they hit but again now we're getting into some just more highly populated spots yeah and uh what you're seeing Mark drive-thru uh that's what you can experience in the next maybe 30 minutes or so again Orangeville New Market Barry um and all the way out nearly to Peterboro is uh where the new severe thunderstorm warnings have been in place again ahead of the front it's not there yet uh but again you'll likely uh be seeing that shelf cloud and then the very heavy rain um and then the very uh changeable wind direction as well we still have a tornado warning uh up in cottage country near halberton uh again kind of where that purple area is a little bit farther to the east so east of Highway 35 um it does look like maybe rotation has calmed down a little bit but all along this line is pinks and pinks I mean you can't quite see it on this radar but I'm looking at hail here hail here um again nickel maybe Looney size all the way across this line it is quite robust uh again continuing to head towards the South and the East It's tricky to catch any kind of rotation in a storm like this in linear storms like this but it that's why you have to be extra vigilant even if there is a severe thunderstorm warning I'm hearing Mark in my ear even though it's a severe thunderstorm warning uh you should be taking precautions because it's within this that we could obviously have some problems so again we still have our tornado warning that's in place because of the possibility of seeing some rotation on the radar there these are the areas under that but then again uh widespread now severe thunderstorm warnings new ones recently added hail is one of the big ingredients of these storms yeah I mean it's and again it's not a very isolated event this is something that a lot of people are going to be seeing a lot of people are going to be impacting all the way up into Quebec and then we even see this continue East tomorrow so a very strong Dynamic setup just want to take a look at how much thunderstorm energy we have out right now because it's been a few hours but uh okay the reds are maybe going away but that's just because the line's eating them up well we still have quite a bit of orange out there across uh Southern Ontario right over New Market right over where the warnings have been expanded that's going to linger there for the next couple of hours so uh until this line gets through we could expect um it to really sustain itself into the GTA yeah we're not looking at this slowing down anytime soon and obviously there's still enough ingredients there for some severe weather uh okay so this is the storm we're looking at again widespread severe thunder storm warnings powerful winds and wind direction shifts that's an issue as well we've got uh Jaclyn wh who has been watching these storms along with us people are like coming in and out of this live stream we're also covering this on television as well so let's uh okay so we've got this the storms ahead of the cold front and then lingering right through the overnight Rachel some people will still see see something early in the morning but then things are going to start to get much better yeah we had some questions uh in through Montreal like when can we see some of this activity because we're talking about Quebec Quebec Quebec but really it's not until like bang on midnight uh when we can maybe see some of that very heavy rainfall uh and then uh kind of your timing um not as ideal to see storms that cold front will already be sliced through when we have those good Dynamics so it'll be more so east of Montreal uh once we get into tomorrow um but again Sun's Going Down Still Still In the 28 probably feeling like 30 uh the atmosphere is quite juicy we still have tornado watches and warnings and I just want to shout out once again uh really in the middle of nowhere in Quebec but the same storms this is probably the fourth or fifth hour uh that they've been continuing so uh just outside of luk probably the northern edge of this uh and this is the one that we're going to keep a close watch on in through halberton it has shaved down from brace Bridge um but we have severe thunderstorms that have expanded all the way down into New Market now jacine um so we're going to keep tracking them as they head towards the South and the East I wonder if there's like a Guinness world record for the longest tornado warning because I think that one might be up for it if there is one um all kidding aside I I want to show a little bit about thermodynamics okay it sounds like boring meteorology stuff but it's kind of neat because we saw a bunch of storms firing up this afternoon likely because of our Lake Breeze uh so we had the cold cold air over the Lakes converging along the 400 uh or for for one Corridor I should say but look at them they popped up and then poof they're gone so it goes to show you that it doesn't mean everybody's going to get severe weather on a severe weather day because it depends on where the greatest energy is and clearly it's not from about Milton South it's obviously right though through areas like Orangeville shelburn Barry Alliston aurilia where this line is it's juicy we've got a lot of energy but anywhere in extreme Southern Ontario is getting pretty well nothing so I found that fascinating because they pretty much evaporated those storms at this point now something we always look for on a Squall line especially when storm chasing is something we call the tail end Charlie so we're going to watch this isolated it's not really that isolated but this storm here these couple of storms at the bottom end of the Squall line sometimes can do some magical stuff especially when we get into the later part of the evening hours if Mark Robinson hears me right now he knows what I'm talking about it uh it's when the the uh low-level jet stream really starts to kick in what that means is that the sun is starting to set soon and so we get less daytime heating well throughout the day we've had Parcels of air that have been rising and those Parcels Parcels of air can almost cause friction for winds it's like it's bumping into these Parcels as we cool those Parcels start to simmer down and our low-level winds can really ramp up sometimes that can be magic hour when things start to rotate that maybe otherwise wouldn't so I'm always watching for that say you know 8: to 900 p.m. depending on what time of year it is for that magic hour sometimes to create some interesting things maybe that's what we saw up here with this embedded line of storms that has become tornado warned maybe that low-level jet has kicked in enough to uh you know to oh we just lost Jacqueline she'll be back in just a moment and now we have Melinda sing back in the chair Rachel modestino taking a much needed break uh maybe for the night we've talked about her Cottage in Minden she was very concerned about the storms that are rolling through you've taken a break you're back in I mean I say taking a break but I know you're watching the storms the entire time you're away from this Des Melinda so let's get back into it we've been watching this little Squall line making its way South we've been waiting for Mo most of the day for this to happen uh and now it's here yeah I know it's starting to come to fruition we still have a few tornado warnings on board as well but now this line is slowly creeping down south so areas like New Market Orangeville Lindsay and Allison you are all now in a severe thunderstorm warning so definitely areas along the 400 North of New Market Bradford into Barry you're seeing the heavy downpour us on the highways uh even areas like Highway 10 up towards shelburn already seeing that storm push through and you can even look here through orill if I just quickly pause it look at that so that means quite a bit of heavy rainfall there even the potential for a little bit of hail but Kim let's go back to the current tornado warning I wanted to say too that Bracebridge Gravenhurst out of the warning not surprisingly uh but we're still looking at other areas that are continuing to be in it including uh places like uh halberton fenel and Falls uh Southern halberton County as well still in there balam Lake too and Northern kartha Lake so the northern areas uh a bit more of a concern this hour We're still watching the one up and through Quebec that has been ongoing for hours it's it's definitely a trooper and yes potentially quite a bit of tornadoes on that one because we have seen the uh the hook the signature for what we call a tornado on radar uh but overall we're still watching these storms the uh sever Thunderstorm watches have been extended uh into areas like London Grand Ben godich uh even some more of these storms pop coming up at the end of this line here down towards listell so very um Dynamic still even though we're starting to lose a little bit of that daytime heating it's now after 8:00 p.m. eastern time we got some questions about the city of Ottawa what's going on across there just a little bit of some light rain that's what we've been seeing the past couple of days yes you're in a severe thunderstorm watch uh but most of the active weather is not in that region potentially as we head into the overnight Kim that's when we could potentially be looking at some of that more active weather uh all up along the 41 Corridor yeah we're still a few hours away before it's really impacting Ottawa but we get these little these little storms moving through that are not uh nearly as impactful as the ones that will follow our storm Hunter Mark Robinson has been out experiencing these storms firsthand let's take a look at his view in Barry right now not surprisingly it's looking like a very dangerous Drive I don't I think are we just getting the video from Mark right now okay just video we'll check in with him when he's stopped in a safer spot he has a cameraman with him so don't be concerned and I think he also has a camera on his Dash as well so uh that's what it looks like if you're driving right now I'm assuming it's the 400 um again very dark skies Heavy Rain you know the sun doesn't set for a little while yet uh it's it's June and the Sun is setting very late but it looks like it's much later than it is because of the storm that's over Barry right now yeah those those Dark Skies from the storms like you just mentioned there but we're still going to be looking at these storms continuing to track down across the GTA Southern portions as well maybe a little bit more early than expected but we might have a few more storms behind this Kim as we continue into the evening uh still the Dynamics are there the moisture the instability that's really what we're seeing is the main threat is going to be the torrential downpours uh not so much the really the tornado threat down across the GT and Southern areas yes for areas like bankra and those regions uh but main threats are going going to be the damaging Winds of course torrential rainfall and potentially around nickel size Hil I mean the later this comes in for the GTA the better fewer people will be outdoors fewer people will be on the roads I know it's been a warm day probably a day where a lot of people wanted to be outside and of course in popular spots like Cottage Country Sable Beach tobermore all of these areas where people go to be outside on days like this are the areas that were hit one after another with severe weather today and when we look at this we can see the real contrast between those temperatures ahead of the front especially down towards Toronto Niagara Windsor where temperatures at this late hour 87 are in the high 20s and it's still quite humid with that southerly flow yeah actually went outside during my little break there just to feel what it felt like the mugginess is still there but the winds are so Gusty that's actually so nice Okay yeah it feel it feels if you're a summer lover this is great and I personally when it gets to be nighttime and it's warm outside that you can still sit outside comfortably without a jacket or sweater it feels like a bit Caribbean like but the problem of course is that we have a cold front coming through and we've got this contrast between air masses and so when we have cold air clashing with this very warm caribbean-like air uh we're going to get storms and that's exactly what is coming true this is what we had anticipated and what ECC uh C anticipated as well which is why they had issued a tornado watch very early in the day so people would be weather aware right out of the gate yeah absolutely right you talks about that Human air mass it will be disappearing for the weekend so it's going to be relatively round seasonal but in the long run if you're tracking a US heat Dome that can be bringing in temperatures into the mid uh 30s with the humid X into the low 40s that's something to uh look forward to for Summer Lovers I guess across Ontario Quebec and even into Atlantic Canada I always say this is great if your AC works you know if you I always say I love the heat but I also have air conditioning so I can get out of it at any time but if you can't then this can be oppressive so that's long range forecast this weekend will be nice and cool uh comfortable weather low 20s for the most part um a lot different than what you're feeling right now but yes the long range forecast just be aware U make sure you've got your fans or you have somewhere to go if your AC is not great because it you know when you have days of heat like that it can be problematic and for areas like the GTA down towards Toronto this could be your first rainless weekend since beginning of April too oh wow okay I didn't realize that statistic yes it's been very very wet uh most of our Lawns are very very green as well and you feel like you're mowing the lawn every three days or so because uh the grass is growing which is great when it comes to like we don't want it to be too dry and especially in northern areas of Ontario because of wildfire season but look at these winds Timmons which earlier had a tornado warning had at least a 70 kilm perh gust yeah we're starting to see those winds as our cold fronts uh sinks down south Moka gust for at 65 km per hour these values have been there so it's just the uh gustiness from the upper level low but overall we will start to see those winds starting to uh Peak a little bit more further or higher rather as we head into the next couple of hours as that front moves through now let's uh go back once again to the overall system this is just a widespread shot here of the systems that we have been tracking all day today since after 2: p.m. eastern time look at looks like another cluster moving into toward the timens area no warnings at this time which is good news it's just mainly the heavy rainfall behind that frontal system and looks like got a bit of a bow segment here once again Kim so that's definitely some very strong Gusty winds in that segment there yeah this is the area that has been for hours uh under a tornado warning and we've seen one system after another doesn't mean that a tornado has happened necessarily but uh boy they've just been at risk for hours now really since we began the live stream almost Northwestern Quebec has been the target for these storms yeah that's going to continue it's more widespread area we're looking at not one but two this is the line bringing some Gusty very Gusty winds there up towards north this is where I'm suspecting we're having a little bit of rotation on this as well and then down towards the South also a little bit of a signature there but overall it's more so going to be the strongest SE winds up towards the North and then as we head down a on the Quebec border here down towards Pembrook Deep River we're seeing some storms moving through severe thunderstorm warnings issue there uh but currently it looks so yes that one is still there just hiding under the radar of the tornado warning that we're continuing to monitor so this line definitely picturesque if you are in the region slowly making its way down south so areas like Fergus you'll be seeing the tail end of it coming up soon Orangeville you're in the thick of it kwick Sutton almost there also and then next 20 30 minutes areas like New Market Lindsay Bob Cajun boft down towards Aon you'll be looking at it also yep through the courth as it goes and you can see those uh little storm systems at the end are just starting to gather and and jump onto the end as Jaclyn was calling them tal and Charlie is that what they were called okay I think so um so a long line of storms on its way South severe thunderstorm warnings now widespread just north of the GTA uh we can see I mean Orangeville irin is in there New Market Port Perry boy you don't have to go very far north and because we don't anticipate this line to stop anytime soon it looks like areas a little closer to Lake Ontario will be in it soon enough let's go to Jaclyn now who's been looking at these storms following them carefully as well Jacqueline uh you're used to chasing storms like these what what's different or interesting about this line of storms today well it's always interesting Kim when I'm chasing in the Great Lakes because you have all this water around you that can kind of mess up the storms to be quite honest so when you're out in Kansas or Oklahoma or saskat and Alberta there's no Lakes to interact with the storms so sometimes it could actually make things a bit trickier um sometimes it can trigger different things that you didn't think would happen otherwise um the the water is colder so that's why we get these interactions with uh different air temperatures but I'm watching this um line of storms carefully a couple things just sort of popped up on radar right now of Interest this little notchy area here east of Alliston has got my I my eye uh and then also this little area this little nachy area within the line uh both are not tornado warned at this point in fact did our tornado warning just get lifted no it's still in a place for halberton and bftt okay we go to that in just a second but just watching this around Lake Simco really quickly because I'm just going to go show you the so again I'm going to isolate these two areas that kind of stick out on radar and then let's go to the Buffalo radar we'll kind of go to more of a zoomed in look and I just want to show that there's there's just a hair little bit of rotation you can see these Reds and greens here and you can see these Reds and greens sort of interacting it's kind of hard to see on this particular um product but enough that you know we'll just watch that closely is it possible that that could get tornado warmed potentially we have seen quite a few today so I just want to show you that other than that the line storms I mean these are some strong winds out ahead of this uh Squall line likely in this area some strong winds happening uh still have the ongoing tornado warning up in Quebec as you both have been talking about and yes it's called a tail end Charlie so this is the sort of cluster of storms at the bottom but sometimes you can get the Final Storm on the end of a line to rotate because you have nothing impeding its inflow around it it's kind of wide open for business um where this kind of this stuff here is all working together right and it's got some stuff out ahead of it and so it's harder to get a line of storms to rotate because it's all connected together it's like a big group of I don't know children in the school yard holding hands if you can think about it marching forward it's going to be very hard to get that whole thing to spin but the chill and Charlie sometimes can so something to watch as we get into the later part of our day um but I'm just going to go back to the tornado uh warnings right now that we currently have of course we know about this one that's been ongoing in Quebec in parent Pon Quebec I hope I'm saying that right okay so it looks like this has gotten smaller uh maybe you guys have already mentioned that I apologize if I'm repeating that but Minden halberton goodham and almost over to bank looks to be in that tornado warning we will see we will keep a close eye to see if any of those other what seems to be maybe some embedded rotation might also get warmed as well so I just want to so again you know if you're around Lake uh Simco right now you are getting hit hard with storms um areas like Sutton a lot of cottages around there um Barry it's past you now but Bradford it's knocking on your door New Market uh King City all those areas about to get hit xbridge with this big line of storms marching your way okay and we've got plenty of video to go around as well obviously now now that these storms are impacting so many people people have their cameras out and they're and they're capturing uh what they're seeing now in ow and sound there was some damage there let's take a look at what went on here because obviously there are trees down we've been talking about winds Gus you know 100 kilometers per hour it's funny when we look at this now and we see the sun shining uh it's all calm now behind the storm but there's going to be some cleanup now as a result and it's always sad when we lose treat I you know I always feel bad when these big beautiful trees come down and some of them literally snapped so this could be I mean there's a possibility maybe it was a tornado or it could be just those powerful straight line winds that's not for me to determine that will be determined by maybe the northern tornadoes project but clearly we're seeing some pretty heavy duty damage here see I mean I'm watching this for the first time and it seems like every time we see a shot it the damage is getting progressively worse yeah I agree they definitely quite a bit of wind damage and of course uh yes ntp will be out assessing all the damage in the coming days and they'll report back to us but yeah this is wow look at that it looks definitely like a little bit of a funnel from that one there I don't remember where it was from but near crore crore yeah so again yeah when you see these Skies moving in you yeah sure I don't I don't blame people if they're far enough away to to capture something but then get indoors because you don't want to be messing around with a rotating storm of of any kind we've been talking about though once you're under that storm the winds are just so powerful we saw our Mark Robinson in the storm rain coming sideways uh we've seen large hail lots of video of that and obviously uh we've had damage now so that's that's a real concern tornado warnings continue in Quebec and in parts of Southern Ontario around Cottage Country and here is Mark's live look on the highway so this is why we're saying you know what I mean if you don't have to drive don't because once you're on the road and it's looking like this you can get into some very poor visibility you're hoping that the windshield wipers are working I don't know if he's using his um it's looking pretty good here but again um this is a huge line of storms over 200 and 20 kilm long so a lot of people in the path of this line yeah let's take a look back at the radar here at Kim cuz we can just show exactly how widespread this is so stretching all the way from Fergus all the way into outages if you want to throw to me like Highway 60 here so that's a very long stretch definitely take you a few hours to drive from point A to point B right yeah but that's going to definitely continue to sink down south along that frontal boundary looks like aelia you're almost out of the storm halber and you're in the thick of it also bankr it's on your doorstep and then as we continue Bradford you'll be looking at us anyone driving on the 400 especially uh south or north areas like New Market down towards the GTA the 401 definitely keep your eyes to the sky cuz this is going to be coming in hot and it's going to be bringing heavy amounts of rainfall so just be prepared for that and if you can get off the highways that'll be a good idea also uh Orangeville Fergus Aon this is going to be impacting Highway 10 so down towards Bramton Milton as well uh places like Paris down towards Hamilton you may not see this depending on if this uh end uh sticks on but for the most part maybe a little bit of some light rain later into the evening hours and then potentially we are seeing a few of these storms popping up right behind it uh even another one here uh just along Long Highway 11 just a little bit north of aelia some of these storms are definitely popping up behind it as a hamiltonian I'd be okay if it missed me uh for a change that would be nice we seem to get enough storms in Hamilton uh let's go to jacine now who has an update on the power outages Jacqueline as somebody that lived in Ancaster for several years I second that yep we did certainly get our fair share of storms in that region uh just want to give an update guys on the active outages and thanks to our team at the weather network and to hydro 1 for keeping everyone informed but 368 active outages and that's affecting nearly 50,000 customers at this point and it's no shock this is just in the past hour by the way uh it's no shock because we've been talking a lot I know it must feel like we're just like lifted if anyone can confirm I will look also uh but it these strong storms are forming this line which causes very strong winds well it's no shock that many have lost power as a result of this and will continue to potentially lose power as it moves through like Melinda was just saying um you know into e Ontario um into Markham New Market Port Perry petero all of those areas are under the gun in the coming no hour or so for all of this to slide into this region kind of like a east Southeast Direction with some heavy downpours potentially hail and they should start to weaken out um as we start to lose daylight here um but yes they still are packing a punch actually you know they've been really holding themselves together well as is the tornado warned cell up in Quebec um let's just take a look at those tornado warnings right now it's still in place uh in Quebec so west of luk uh it's like the world's longest tornado warning it really has been in in effect for a long time the good news is it's it's a very fairly low populated area so it's probably not impacting too many people but um and and no reports by the way of a tornado yet either but there has been a tornado warning for for some time uh Minden halberton goodham you are still under this tornado warning and this one hasn't been in place quite as long um and it's all because of that you know potentially embedded rotation let's go to the storm okay we'll take it from Jacqueline right now we've got a little bit of into um she's back see here I have seemingly lost oh no I thought we're in and out okay um Melinda so obviously she's zoomed in here on this particular storm but this is the the line that's moving in towards Minden we were saying that it's going to continue to go normally once it gets dark we'll start to see these storms subside uh this is the time of year where the Sun is up for a very long time so you know there's still some energy out there there's still a lot of heat and humidity does this mean it has just ended Okay so we've got some good news I love when it just kind of disappears on the screen so our tornado warning now for areas like Halbert AR is now over so that has dropped we still have the tornado warning in the north however in Quebec in leant area so that's still warned and then we still have a number of severe thunderstorm warnings as this line moves in but I'm happy to say that the tornado warning has come to an end uh but we're not done yet no we're definitely not done especially as we inch closer across theep GTA this line of storms is going to be barreling in bringing heavy amounts of rainfall so a places like Aon bolon New Market Lindsay you're almost going to be seeing the storm in the next roughly 15 to 30 minutes or so and then down towards areas like Bramton Toronto Markham oshaa you'll be seeing this in probably an hour an hour and a half from now it's still fast moving storm Kim roughly around that 60 to 80 K per hour uh Mark there but overall very fast moving this is what we've been talking about all day that it's just going to come together we're going to see the Dynamics at play and environment can will definitely probably issue some more uh severe thunderstorm warnings as it inches closer also uh so definitely be prepared for that you know have your phone keep it charge uh because you'll get the warnings on your app also this is the kind of direction that we like these storms to move in especially if they're moving quickly because it lessens the chance of flooding if this storm was moving over the same place over and over again parts of Northern Ontario Northern have been see that through the day but for southern Ontario a fast moving storm means that you're sure you're going to get a good downpour but it's not going to be long lasting because the storm will have moved on up pretty quickly so that's good news we're not seeing training storms over the same place uh at least not across the South yeah not really seeing training thunderstorm which is the good part yes there's a few clusters now starting to move in down towards Timmons crookland Lake once again but they've had a really good break in terms of the storm from Storm 1 to storm two definitely been at least 4 hours by now which is good news but yes the one of pan is still Ono see that Boeing segment here I'll just highlight it quickly that is showing the strong Gusty winds that continue with that line of Storms and then uh down towards the South there definitely a bit of a cluster matwa you're seeing some of that heavy rain as well this is the storms that uh move from Perry Sound and is continuing to track out down towards halber so definitely still continuing this pbrook looking at some light rain as well in the nation's capital you know we're not really seeing uh the storm Dynamics there it's more so in the areas with a tornado watch that's still in place yes it's now starting to drop off across regions of Northeastern Ontario and Western Quebec also uh but down towards the of Ottawa we'll be looking at more so just some heavy rainfall especially as we head into the overnight let's take a look now at some video out of Glenn Karen we've got some really cool looking Skies here as well this has been just the kind of video we've been seeing time and time again when the sky looks like this oh look at that color oh yeah look at that blue someone else saying the same thing and that's that's likely hail within the storm oh yeah most definitely and we get those uh hints of blue and green that definitely means a little bit of a signature for some hail we need a get in the car in one sec because this is going to just be all right yeah some commentary there yes get in the car in one sec that's the thing like if you um if you know what you're doing okay be out there but honestly these storms can come upon you very quickly and you can find yourself in a lot of trouble um it's going to take a while before these storms die down so even through the overnight we're likely going to have a pretty decent light show lightning ongoing especially down around Southwestern Ontario along the GTA as well I know we've been seeing those storms kind of fizzling out at the very tail end of the line um so it's still up in the air but I don't want to completely rule out along the shores of Lake Erie getting the storms yeah I agree the potentially is definitely the Dynamics are still there for your overnight cuz that's where we saw some of the warmest temperatures I got we got to a high of around 32 degrees in Windor so the heat is still there uh and especially that cold front moves through as a slow moving Cal front uh Dynamics are still there so we have the moisture we got the heat we got the instability windsh not so much that's more so around a Cottage Country Western Quebec that's where we saw majority of the active weather and then of course across banro region to where we saw the tornado warnings yeah I'm glad to say that the tornado warnings in Ontario have all come to an end so that's good news no longer do we have tornado warnings at least not at this point in time I don't want to say that we won't have anym um but as it gets darker and we lose some of the energy of the day the chances are less likely than if it was three or four in the afternoon however we still do have the tornado in Northern Quebec a place that hasn't really gotten a break today really started around 3:00 in places like vilmie and Valor and just kind of stuck there through much of the day I mean it's a big area and it's also a very open area not highly populated that's always good news I think I mean if a storm hits and it's not a densely populated area it's probably for the best but we've seen some damage with these storms yeah we definitely have as we saw earlier some trees down and and things like that but especially as we head into the overnight camp I just want to mention here any area only 41 Corridor have the chance to see uh line sinking through and even a little bit of some popup storms behind it strong winds would be another Factor large hail torrential rainfall don't be surprised if you're sleeping and you get awakened by some loud thunder even a little bit of some heavy rainfall on the window also so that's going to be a threat as we head into Friday though the main areas of concern is going to be Eastern the Eastern townships of Quebec along the St Lawrence River uh Quebec City and Central and Northern portions of new week it's that same system slowly making its way Eastward um and it still has the same amount of Dynamics yes the potential for tornado is also there for these areas in Orange uh but across the GTA down towards uh Southwestern Ontario nation's capital we're just looking at non- severe storms maybe a few popup storms here or there for the most part it's going to be a clear nice day for Friday yeah that's good news this storm has really taken a cross country Trek it was in the Prairies yesterday we had tornadoes what seemed like tornadoes in Manitoba still to be confirmed I believe but there was certainly enough video evidence of these tornadoes happening in Manitoba that's the same system again then we had widespread warnings in Northwestern Ontario and on it went into now sun Southern and Southern Ontario and Quebec as well so it's going to keep on moving along the St Lawrence as you say and right into uh New Brunswick for Friday so yeah this storm has had a lot of energy along with it and is really making its Mark Absolutely I'll just run through one of the models here what we can expect so definitely picking up on the line looks like it's moving in a little bit faster than the models are predicting but potentially it could be a little bit more as it moves behind so along that frontal boundary this front is just ahead of the boundary and then along it uh the coil front into your overnight hours around midnight into the pre-dawn hours uh that's what we could be looking a little bit more but more so for the most part clear for your Friday morning into the afternoon except for a few pop-up storms here or there yeah it could be a rough night for some especially if you have a dog that's afraid of storms they saying this to to Rachel like there are a lot of pets first of all they don't like uh fireworks for example and also thunderstorms I mean it can get scary that means if they're not sleeping you might not be sleeping either it could be one of those nights especially around uh the GTA and areas farther south because it's moving in so late in comparison to what we're seeing right now now I'm concerned too I mean it's now it's starting to I'm sure starting to get a little dark we've been in the studio for a little while but uh the sun set's obviously very late at this time in June um but once it does again things can get dicey we expect the storms to start to weaken but we have less of an eye on them it's harder to see them coming unless you're really aware of the lightning so I think if you're out or if you're driving uh these storms can become dangerous because uh you know we don't have the sunshine yeah even earlier on the day where we did see those stronger storms ra were talking about with the heavy rainfall the tornado potential could also be rain wraps so was really hard to see Within These storms and like you mentioned just the Dark Skies overall very hard to see yes you can see like a bit more of a cloud formation moving towards with this kind of setup but definitely when you hear the thunder head inside you can also see the lightning also looks like some of our severe thunderstorm watches are coming to an end just disappearing behind this uh severe thunderstorm warnings in northeastern Ontario coming to an end as well so uh yes some good news here the warnings are dropping off tornado watch still in place severe thunderstorm watches still in place across Southwestern Ontario along the shores of Lake hiron um so it's not over yet but we are seeing some improvement here at least behind the line yeah we definitely are now looks like uh some more uh thunderstorm warnings have been popping up down towards Lindsay along the highway 28 Bob cinjun as well Port Perry in at New Market Bolton so especially as this line comes through you'll be seeing some of these warnings popping up on your app of course uh so yes making your way down south heavy amounts of rainfall we haven't really seen any reports of flooding throughout the day today which is definitely good news but uh lots of heavy rainfall with this cu the mo the atmosphere is so moisture filled right now that's why we saw the humidity and that's what's helping to fuel these storms yeah speaking of temperatures and humidity let's go to jacine because she has been uh looking at the numbers as well and of course Jaclyn this was one of the key ingredients to a stormy Day in Ontario and Quebec something I don't get in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia we get dry hot weather and of course back home in Ontario it's hot and muggy conditions and boy was it in place today ahead of the system uh temperatures still at almost 900 p.m. about 28 degrees in downtown Toronto 28 Windsor 26 London look at the temperature variance though behind the cold front mccoa is about 10° colder than Toronto it's like a 2hour drive that's pretty impressive uh Sudbury you know 18 uh Timmons up at only 16 and Chapo at 14 so obviously the cold air working its way in I just wanted to kind of take a look at the overnight risk because as you both had just mentioned we're not done with this into the evening hours we do have this was our rist map put out earlier today the severe potential severe possible is the dark orange color right through the Ottawa Valley continuing potentially all the way down to Windsor so it's not to say that you know it's done for sure we still could have some stray storms that uh could be going on into the overnight let's take a look at what the model thinks so this is a short range uh model that is showing those storms working their way through potentially around 11:00 p.m. right through Eastern parts of the GT GTA um you know maybe even into downtown Toronto it won't be as strong or severe like what we've seen today these are just this is just the model picking up on potentially some activity into the overnight and then it dissipates and goes into Upstate New York rather quickly on Friday though could still see another risk of severe weather I'll show you that momentarily um because I do have that risk map I believe handy do I okay well we're going to come back to that one yeah I guess I don't have that at the ready I apologize uh but yeah there's your Thursday overnight risk and maybe I do maybe I can just grab it really quickly yes I do have it now folks look at that all right right on the Fly there we go so non severe thunderstorms on Friday uh to kick off your weekend Windsor London Toronto this is going to be the cleanup day potentially with maybe a lot of Limbs down maybe at least some tree branches down um and then into Quebec Quebec city east of Montreal into the Eastern townships could see the stronger risk for storms small hail uh strong wind gusts and heavy rain that tornado warning still going strong um I don't suspect there's been a tornado warning but just to just to get this information out to you that is still happening in um in Quebec power outages uh almost 50,000 people without power uh customers that is with 368 active outages along this line so you know the bottom line is the the storms are going to continue into the evening hours you're going to see a big drop in temperature the mugginess it's like it's like rinse and repeat right this is how it works in the Great Lakes we get these muggy days we get a cold front it rinses everything out and uh we get back into some more comfortable air uh which some people love Su Marie sitting at 13 degrees Windsor at 28 degrees um I'll send it back into the studio for now okay thanks Jacqueline yes we're on I mean what a difference in temperatures and I think as jacine was saying a lot of people appreciate the cooler weather you and I we like the Heat humity I actually got to eat outside today before you all of this started uh and and that was nice because I mean it's great but and unfortunately it is fuel for severe weather and when you get a hot muggy day sometimes you get popup thunderstorms and we'll see that happen throughout the summer but this is a little different because we have an actual system coming through we have an actual cold front moving in so this is not uh daytime heating necessarily uh we had a lot of ingredients to bring this together we saw saw it coming a few days in advance Environment Canada obviously saw it coming issued the tornado watch early in the day so that people would be aware that this is an active weather day it gets people alert and ready and making maybe alternate plans if they wanted to be outside and obviously uh we are seeing severe weather and not just hit and miss storms but a long line of storms that is likely impacting a lot of people yeah ver M can now dropping off these severe thunderstorm watches along the shores of Huron down towards Southwestern Ontario so are now Dro we have still have a few in place though uh Fergus up towards lell Harrison still in the watch here and the warnings will continue uh from just because the storm continues to make its way down south just warning everyone what's about to come the severity of the storm we're still seeing the heavy amounts of rainfall P to Nickel size ha also show you my work very strong also we could be seeing that small siiz hail and of course the lightning the thunder it's going to be quite loud so overall it's going to continue to sink down south definitely quite a cluster up towards uh Northern Northeastern Ontario Western areas of Quebec as jacn mentioned we're still tracking in uh that tornado War any that Environ Canon has still issued we're still seeing that signature for rotation in the pon region also and now it just looks like we're just seeing this line push through those ones will be heading off into to the east meanwhile this is going to be sinking down south now as we speak Kim look at these just a few more bubbling up along Highway 10 and Mount Forest region okay that's what can happen because we're still ahead of the cold front here yes are so these storms can pop up and obviously those are some singular cells behind the big line of storms um the severe thunderstorm warnings jumping ahead of the line just to give people the heads up that it's on the way and when we have a severe thunderstorm warning it means that that these storms are imminent or are already occurring so a watch is one thing it's like heads up we've got all the ingredients we've got the ripe environment for a severe weather the warning means okay it's time to get indoors this is happening soon so that's why we keep seeing these severe thunderstorm warnings popping up farther and farther south ahead of the line because it's moving through we're talking about wind speeds in some cases we could have gust 100 kmers per hour I'm not surprised looking at the video we saw earlier from Owen Sound number of trees heavy rainfall and we were talking about how fast these storms are moving so yes you could get a really good downpour but then it's over yeah I just want to quickly run this uh back all the way to 4 hours ago now we can just see we were look I remember talking with Rachel when we were on the live stream at the beginning seeing the bubbling up and the formation over Lake Huron and just how it has transformed uh with that that cluster and continuous amounts of moisture added to that the more storm cells added on to that initial line and that's the current line that we are tracking down south that's making its way now across the North End of the GTA wow that's such an interesting perspective to see it just you know a storm here or there and then all coming together in this linear form um which can yes produce tornadoes but less likely usually when you have a line of storms like this thankfully tornado warnings have come to an end in Ontario we still have that stickler up in Northern Quebec because of the kind of BOE that we've been seeing up there that's still there in the pan area again not a highly populated area very rural setting up here but again the tornado watch still in place just in case I'm assuming that this will likely be dropped soon uh but it's still in place right now and currently if you're under a severe thunderstorm warning it means that system is likely going to be on your doorstep shortly yeah absolutely right Kim we'll quickly just go over what we can expect uh into the overnight I start to wrap up our live stream we'll still be live uh lives covering on our TV platforms with you all but over your your overnight here Thursday overnight any area in Orange has a threat to see severe storms once again that's mainly going to be as a cold front approaches the line we're tracking currently is ahead of that cold front so we're still going to be looking at the strong winds the large hail the torrential rainfall any area in Orange uh yellow rather has a threat for non- severe storms but any area in Orange stretching all the way up into the Ottawa region Mont Lauer has a threat for severe storms into your overnight hours yeah I wanted to mention that we will still be on television on the Weather Network on TV uh when we're not uh live streaming any longer especially as these storms start to die down the Sun is going down or has gone down um it's getting darker and these storms will weak but they'll still seem intense I find that storms at night just seem more intense because it is night time and you can look out and see the lightning going if you hear uh loud thunder as well it can be a problem and you just don't know what's going on like I mean if that rain is coming down or the winds are howling and you're you know you're in your home you're like okay what's going on outside of my patio right now do I still have my chairs yeah definitely Kim overall this is the same setu we're going to be seeing moving down across the GTA yes we're seeing some of these dropping in those areas that are not seeing the active weather once again looks like uh the criteria has diminished but more so for the areas in the tornado watch uh we're still looking at the criteria there so depending on that cold front as it continues to sink down South we will continue to monitor this here on our linear channels okay so as we continue to follow these storms South our storm Hunter Mark Robinson has been following these storms live and in person chasing them as captured a couple of really cool things on video there he is now in the storm vehicle uh Mark give us a little bit of a wrap of the kind of day that you've experienced okay now you know this was uh this was a an interesting day you know started off you know we can see the little bit of storms popping up here and there uh we got some isolated storms sort of ahead of the the main cold front ahead of that line uh and those ones you know we tried to them a little bit but they were really really far north really hard to get to uh and then the line itself we just watched that come towards us again went pretty far north probably one of the most furthest North I think I've ever been in a storm Chase which is up in uh Wavin and you know got that shelf cloud that hit us and the winds in there we had a wind shift we had a a a toilet go flying one of the outdoor toilets went flying uh so you know we really were getting some very strong winds in there uh and then it was just a matter of trying to get south of the line and literally just north of Canada's Wonderland was sort of when we got south of the of the rain and now we're just about to get on to the 407 and and head back to the office and it's still raining to the north I can still see a couple of those storms uh you know continuing on through uh you know it's going to continue on like the end of the night uh but it's that out east uh you know out towards Cottage Country really getting hit hard and I'm just hoping we don't lose any trees in my Cottage yeah you and a lot of people I think Mark I think this uh storm is kind of following you South as you make your way away from it thank you so much uh Mark it's always good to get our storm Hunter's perspective on these kinds of storms he's been out in so many of them and uh and today was no different but he captured that beautiful shelf cloud I don't know if we have that video but I think he was doing it live at the time so we might not but uh we will have a whole compilation of the day that it that was online on television in the next couple of days we'll be showing that yeah definitely uh especially get more visuals from the overnight storms as well showing the lightning and you can also hear the thunder but once again we're still continuing to track this as we continue into the next five minutes or so Lindsay down towards New Market you're seeing the line push through bankr in the thick of it right now uh down towards Bramton vaugh you'll be seeing a little bit of the storms moving through looks like it's starting to fizzle out though Kim at the end of this line here as it approaches Highway 10 Bolton towards in a few more pop-up cells though are definitely coming in behind it shelburn down towards the south of Mount Forest here along Highway 10 uh stainer up just up here as well Highway 10 here dun do fluster 10 you'll be looking at some of these storms even Elm Veil also so a few more pop storms behind this the frontal boundary it's still slowly sinking downwards so yes pop-up storms are going to be another thing as we head into the next couple of hours yeah you might be lulled into a false sense of security once the storms go through the initial storms and then obviously we have a few uh ones that are straying behind and just a little bit late to the party but again so don't let your guard down there could be more watches and warnings as the night goes on we're hoping that as we the sun goes down we're going to lose the energy of the day the storms will start to weaken as well we'll continue to cover the storms too on the Weather Network on television and again we're always encouraging you to please pay attention to alerts if you have alerts in your area like severe thunderstorm warnings like tornado warnings clearly we want you to pay attention and get to safety as soon as possible because obviously it gets trickier at night Melinda yeah absolutely right can we'll quickly just go over the forecast one more time as we head into the evening hour as as our live stream comes to an end here but we're still going to be tracking more of the severe storms as we head into the evening hours especially along the boundary there and then into your overnight any area in Orange be prepared for a lot of lightning torrential downpours and strong Gusty winds if you haven't done so already probably put your patio furniture away right Kim down towards the GTA cuz might go flying I haven't done mine mine are still outside so I might not find mine on my patio when I get home but that's okay I'll be in the backyard but overall for Friday we are going to be tracking these same cold front that brought in the active weather across Ontario que back for Thursday and areas across the MOBA scet one on Wednesday we're going to be tracking this into portions of Northern New Brunswick and Eastern towns of Quebec into your Friday afternoon yes there's also the potential for tornadoes as we do have another hot day ahead for Friday yeah temperatures way above where they should be they're cooling down behind the front though in Ontario it's a comfortable weekend ahead we're expecting much more pleasant weather once the system has come through before start to heat up again next week you know I want to thank meteorologist Rachel modestino who was on this live stream for many hours straight first with you then with me uh Melinda thank you for joining me here as well and then on the TV side Michael Van is there covering the weather there and all and jacn Whittle has been covering uh from her home too so I mean everybody it's all hands- on Deck here at The Weather Network When Storms like this roll through but we want you to be weather aware and that's why we do this kind of thing we we're hoping that we're educating and at the same time uh showing you where the potential for danger could be yes so quickly before we end our stream here in a minute or so we're still tracking this line of thunderstorms bringing in heavy amounts of rainfall and strong Gusty winds that'll be impacting areas across the GTA as we head into the next half an hour or so and we still have a current tornado warning in the pan region as that line brings very strong Gusty winds as it continues to bow out so looking at signs of rotation up across the north there and areas like Deep River pemra we're still looking at potential for some downpours as this uh cold front approaches and yes in the coming hours into the overnight this will continue okay we're hoping that we'll get uh more of these watches and warnings starting to drop as the night goes on but just be aware and have your phone handy uh for your alerts because obviously if something is issued especially late at night you're going to want to be aware of that uh thanks to Mark Robinson our storm hunt who is out today with Manny thanks to Chris who's been directing this live stream and Robin who's been directing over on the TV side as well and thank you to you our audience who has been following along with these storms I know that you find this very informative and we appreciate your feedback along the way as well so have a safe night thank you Melinda and uh we will be on the Weather Network Live Through the Night pleas [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] back
