yo what's going on guys this is Houston Sports Talk Back another video day to the Houston Texans have released two cornerbacks starting off with former first round pick CJ Henderson CJ Henderson who was the ninth overall pick in the 20120 NFL draft for Texans uh rival Jacksonville Jaguars then got traded to the Carolina Panthers in a big trade and then signed with the Texans this off season uh CJ Henderson didn't do a lot in preseason throughout training camp he was injured and when he did practice there were reports that he was really struggling in practice um and he didn't put up any stats in the preseason at all um now hederson in 2023 played 12 games with seven starts for Carolina with two passes defensed one sack 39 tackles three tackles for loss 2022 he did have two interceptions returning them for 74 yards and 17 games and 10 starts for Carolina he had six passes defense one force fumble one fumble recovery 58 tackles with two tackles for loss but that's all he did if you ask me I think this Texans team has more depth and more Talent at the cornerback position than the Carolina Panthers uh have had whether it was last year in 2023 or was in 2022 so I think it was harder for him to make this roster than it would to be a a full-time or part-time yeah part-time starter like he was in Carolina 12 games and seven starts in 2023 17 games and 10 starts in 2022 so he wasn't even a full-time start in Carolina now I want to go to Troy pide Jr now I mentioned that uh I mentioned that we didn't really see a lot of CJ Henderson in the preseason due to injuries and um you know and all that kind of stuff now Troy Pride Jr was someone we saw quite often in the preseason in the preseason he had eight tackles and he had two passes defensed now Troy Pride Jr has only played 15 games in the in his in his NFL career and has been in the NFL in since 2020 in 2023 last year he got to play one game with the Las Vegas Raiders in that one game he put up no stats uh he was not in the NFL in 2022 2021 now he he very well might have been in the NFL he probably could have been on a practice squad but he did not play in any official NFL games uh 2020 with Carolina was uh the last time time you saw him in an NFL game uh before he played one game with with the Raiders in 2023 so in his first year with Carolina 14 games eight starts two passive defense 42 tackles one tackle for loss with Carolina in 2020 I want to remind everybody he was a fourth round pick for Carolina in 2020 113th overall and he spent his first rookie his rookie season in Carolina as a as a part-time starter just like CJ Henderson was but CJ Henderson was not in Carolina yet uh guys both both guys were drafted in the same draft class U CJ Henderson was the ninth overall pick and Troy Pride Jr was the fourth round pick 113th overall so big difference of when they were drafted but Henderson was still in Jacksonville and Troy Pride Jr was in Carolina but then the next season in 2021 Troy Pride Jor um trying to make the team on his second you know second year in the league and that didn't happen so uh they cut the fourth round pick not even one year after being drafted by the team uh now looks solid with the Texans in you know in preseason in training camp but like I mentioned this is too deep of a a roster and Too Deep of a cornerback room for the Texans to keep either Troy Pride Jr or CJ Henderson on the roster so I'm not surprised by these roster Cuts right here let me know your thoughts on the Texans making these moves in the comment section and peace out go Texans
