8 Injured Players to Buy or Sell in Dynasty

Intro [Music] welcome to the football guys Dynasty show I have our buddy Adam Hutchinson here we are going over training camp injuries some of you guys have already done a million beste ball drafts by some of you guys I mean that we're some of you guys and then others you guys are just finally joining us and you're wondering what risk should I take in the draft what injured guy should I take a risk on to break out in the late late half in the in the season and a popular rookie who we have hyped up here and someone that's hiring Dynasty that I really like and I think fits the bill as like a late season push type injury is Jonathan Brooks um but I'm also not a Jonathan Brooks doctor so um Adam Jonathan Brooks toies ACL we finally get a timeline they say three to four weeks what does that mean in terms of production and what should fantasy managers expect early on yeah I mean Jonathan Brooks is definitely an exciting player um I would not be drafting him with the expectation that he's going to be an early contributor for your fantasy teams to start the season um you know a lot of a lot of with running backs coming in off ACLS if we do see a big push it's typically later in the season some really struggle with efficiency um now we don't have like a a baseline year for Jonathan Brooks right because this is his rookie season but when we're looking at running backs at whole just um their pre-injury year versus their post injury year when they have an ACL tear we're talking about attempts per game 8% yards per game going down 16% um yards per attempt going down almost 11% so a lot of those efficiency numbers are taking a big hit a lot of the running backs that have seemed to do well post year uh post uh one year after an ACL injury guys are heavily involved in the passing game um or guys that were outliers statistical outliers in terms of the workload that they were getting from their teams uh teams comfortable giving them the majority of the workload right after their ACL year Jonathan Brooks is kind of a tricky one I mean I think a good one to compare him to a little bit um in terms of what I guess could be a ceiling outcome is Todd gurley's rookie year if people remember he had an ACL injury at Georgia his rookie year was delayed a little bit two games uh he missed the first two games of the Season as year recovering for that uh that was 2015 you know he finished with eight point uh 4.8 yards per carry uh 21 receptions for 188 yards finishes the rb9 overall and fantasy and PPR leagues I mean for you guys I don't know too much about about Jonathan Brooks I I didn't watch a lot of Texas football but that seems like a ceiling outcome like if you don't think Jonathan Brooks can be Todd Gurley or is Todd Gurley in the NFL then I think maybe we have to temper expectations a little bit it's not a one for one for comparison but that's just somebody to kind of pull off um rookie ACL data for yeah so I don't think and Jeff I'll I'll kick this to you because I think that you kind of agree one thing that you said that stuck out to me is a passing volume as an outlier because as we know um running backs are always just naturally low a DOT guys but just having that three or four extra points a game really helps um and then two you said Todd Gurley I I'm not saying he's a Todd Gurley talent but I do see Todd Gurley like usage especially if you look at how Rashad white was used uh Jeff is especially hearing like about like what what the uh efficiency numbers may look like especially knowing he's a panther does any of that bother you especially in Dynasty to lean on him as like an rb1 or if a best case scenario you drafted him as an rb2 for the tail end of the season I think right now tail end of the season production is the only realistic expectation for Jonathan Brooks you look at the rest of that backfield having chuba hubba there hubard there having my sanders there everything that I've read chuba huard's really emerged as a team leader leader he's in a contract year he pushed close to a th yards last year and my sanders has really taken the rough year last year and reset and has come back and looked like a much different player I have major questions on how competitive the Panthers are going to be and how that plays into caution with Jonathan Brooks because both hubard being in a contract year and my sanders is essentially in a contract year he's got one of the worst contracts in the league but there's an out after the 2024 season that the Panthers will execute my thought is if the Panthers are falling out of the contention for the race and they're not feeling comfortable with the 110% of Jonathan Brook's Health right now they're just going to lean on those veteran backs and to get them through the season and kind of install the offense that they have rolling there and so that's that's my major concern right now as it comes to Jonathan Brooks I think talent-wise I think he's not I mean he's not close to those guys he's so much better than those guys but at the same time he's not Todd Gurley when it comes to Talent either and I think that we got excited because he emerged as the running back one in the class got that draft Capital as the running back one in the class that injury kind of went back to the back of mind because that's kind of how we end up working in Dynasty I feel like once we hit everybody's healthy in February even if they're not but then now I think you're kind of running into it where reality yeah Reality Bites and I think you're gonna get some conservative approach from the Panthers yeah especially when you consider that they they are in rebuild mode 100% they have a brand new coach that I think they believe in a little more and I believe in a little more so uh right now they just want everyone healthy and for Bryce young to take a step forward and they can do that with that being said since this is Dynasty we have a little bit you know easier caveats um to give you guys some actionable advice I think that you hold if you have them and if you don't have them week three people are going to start sweating right now you're going to you might be able to get them and but you're probably going to be paying a higher much higher price than if you buy them like week two or three you could be getting Jonathan Brooke with in some leagues a first rounder definitely with a second rounder and that's not unheard of and you can really profit even like especially if you're if you are got a stud team go flip uh go flip one of those pieces like a Joe Mixon if you've got like a a pretty good let's say if you got like like really stud running back and you have like a Joe Mixon type player or J James Connor go try to flip him for Jonathan tayor or for Jonathan Brooks with like a pick or something in week three man before we move on I had one more question pop up in my head while I was rambling Adam does age factor in anything to you that him being a rookie like like there's two sides of this coin it should scare you more because we don't even know if he's good or not like we can assume that he's good and then you have these metrics on top of on top of that say that his production is going to be down like essentially and I've heard you say this his production is zero so where do we go negative of 11% from zero because we don't know what he actually does in the NFL now I understand that's a little bit more black and white but then on the flip side if we take a walk down narrative Street I like he's a young cat this happened in the middle of the season and this isn't necessarily a running back that's in year three and has a lot more tread on his tires yeah I mean I think age factors in from the sense of like yeah that his his viability window is bigger than somebody that's you know a running back that's been in the league for for three or four years I do think it's a little scary and and this is just goes to like Dynasty strategy Dynasty preferences I mean injury seeds opportunity to somebody else this isn't a one for one comparison but this is part of the problem with drafting I had personally with drafting Jameson Williams in the first round coming off his ACL tear I mean a mod St Brown was going to happen regardless he he he's a freak but you could see by Jameson not being on the field that obviously hurts his fantasy value other pieces on that offense evolve Samu La pora emerges and now you're starting to see where pieces of that pie are getting taken up by by other players it's not a one for one comparison with the running back position because they're typically not on the field with somebody else but it just it just opens the door for some for somebody else and the more that he's not on the field or if he gets off to a slower start when he's on the field that's going to hurt his dynasty value um you're not going to be able to cash in one for one what you you got for him and what you paid for him in Dynasty you might have to take 60 cents or 70 cents on the dollar if you're looking to get out um so it it it leaves a little bit unknown so I said that I would buy in the middle of season because um a lot of it is I think the tape's good I think it's a player that Canales believes in and he can use but you you'd be responsible to not taking the risk that sometimes these dudes just suck Jeff you you said in like the work group chat that like we're getting in that time of year where we're realizing that half these rookies can't play that mean you know that goes across the board from you know defense all the way to these uh uh to the skill position players and our favorite favorite Dynasty assets are are are are not immune to that so are you buying cuz you're a little bit more conservative conservative of a player would you buy him or are you just taking this opportunity to sell right now while you think while people still might believe in them it's definitely not a sell window for me right now I would buy yes depending on how it plays out I'm curious if he's going to be pupped or not because I think if he does get that pup then I think people are going to have that little bit of a panic window and that's what I would really get aggressive on and try to buy trying to use second round picks early second or you know like maybe a player like uh Julia mclin or something like that along with a second or a third and to try to get into there on Jonathan Brooks especially if you see some early production from somebody else but I think last question this Adam do you think there's gonna be a ramp up for Brooks or is this the type of thing that he gets the clearance in week four and we see him week five he's got 85% of the touches yeah I mean uh I think there might be a ramp up but it might not have anything to do with the knee injury it might have to do everything with being a rookie coming off of an knee injury too you know what I mean there's some of that built into there um so yeah I wouldn't you know let's say he he is pupped and he comes back week five um and he sees you know 133% of the of the workload I wouldn't automatically be hitting the the panic button I think there's reasonable expectations that there there would be a ramp up there was a ramp up with Bree Hall last year um so I think there there could be a a steady ramp up I I do think it's just going to be tough from a efficiency uh standpoint again you guys probably have seen more of him like if you think he's going to be a really good uh receiving back and an option for Bryce youngan um I think that can certainly Elevate his floor but I think from from a pure rushing perspective I think the numbers are going to be kind of choppy especially whenever he he does start whether that's week one or week five Etc yeah and I think I think he does have that receiving ability but we haven't seen pass protection those types of things play into it and you got to remember too he really only had one year of playing in college because he was behind bejon Robinson and so that's where I think there's some concern on especially some of those veteran backs I know in Dynasty we're tossing out chba hubber and my sanders is being done and bad but I'm telling you the pan Panthers like both of them quite a bit right now and and the panther again like coaching staffs matter you know like like miles Sanders and probably really sucks in uh in in Frank reich's system I think anyone would suck in Frank reich's system so um like like Jeff Jeff's not selling Adam before before we move on you buying or selling right now let him know this his hot take season oh I think I froze for a second um yeah I mean I I'd be buying at the right price um I prefer ER Trey Benson for for different reasons like in in rookie drafts I was always kind of leaning that direction but yeah I mean for for the right price I'd be I'd be buying Jonathan Brooks I agree with what Jeff's saying it's not it's not a sell window this is not not the time to sell especially when we haven't really seen him on the field but um if you had May pick between buying or selling I would say bye I'll set you up for a hot take clip someday but before I get that uh well if you guys enjoy this content if you like seeing us bring on like the smart people the doctors like Adam go ahead and hit that like button and subscribe more importantly go over to football guys.com plans Adam writes our injury report every week moreover uh Jeff's been heating that hitting that training camp beat we're going to be hitting the training camp beat even more another thing I guys told you that we have our draft Dominator and we're getting Live Sync set up if you would like to be one of the first to get in on that put in the secret code I love Adam just put that in the comments in this video and we'll select you and we will set you up for a premium subscription for free for the year I don't even think I'm allowed to do that but I'm going to make the call because I'm the quarterback a audible at the line of scrimmage anyway we are moving on to our next one and he's been everyone's favorite hero um he's been someone that I've ranked think appropriately but I've gotten a lot of heat because people love him so much but it's pukan nakua and again folks we are talking about injuries specifically training camp ones he's had a KN knee injury I think they said that he could miss three weeks or he's weak to week I at least the article that I said I didn't have any specifics on what the knee injury was it was like like was it like a knee sprain uh first off do you have more information of for us to how do you think this is going to affect his performance or is he going to going to really actually take the Cooper uh cup trajectory even sooner than we thought yeah I mean there's there's video of the injury um it's tough to speculate like there are people that are speculating it uh based on video um I think you know people's worst fear is that it might be like a a PCL sprain which is behind your ACL um it's provides similar stability to the knee it's typically um it's not the the ligament that's typically like spraying or torn comp compared to the ACL um those injuries can be a little tricky let let's say worst case scenario was something like that um the timeline would make sense in terms of like three three to four weeks them labeling him week to week sounds ominous but I mean it's it's it's preseason right now there's really no reason to push pukaa back out on the field let him recover and get healthy for for the regular season if it is a PCL spray again I think it's it's possibly misses all of the preseason and um it could trickle into the first couple weeks of the season it's a small sample but you know looking at some guys that have had that PCL spraining um Paris Campbell had I think a more severe PCL spray but he missed 15 games he basically missed the whole season Zeke haded that injury a minor sprain he didn't miss any games he played through it Zack Wilson missed four games of the Season uh doltan Schultz two week injury Lamar Jackson five-week injury but it did end his season it could have lingered a little bit longer I mean if that's the worst case scenario for PUK and aula would he have a little bit of a higher injury risk yes um could it delay the start of his season in terms of maybe missing the first two weeks or hindering his fantasy production yes I mean historically knee injuries have limited uh wide receivers um and there's lingering effects that decrease fantasy football out output output by about 23% compared to their pre injury level so that that is is a possibility we don't know that for sure though I mean that's a lot of speculation based on video it could just be a knee contusion a kneecap contusion um some knee discomfort the labeling week to week is what is starting to make people freak out a little bit but I don't I don't really see the reason to hit the panic button um it's just something to keep your eye on noted Jeff are you bothered at all about it this year like um I mean granted this is Dynasty so we're not going to really Panic um too much but like we know how these lingering ones get and then especially with players of like puka akua's profile that can really especially now on how the dynasty Market can fluctuate we can see that that number dip do you expect any of that to happen right now do you think he's just going to stay steady because he's coming off a record-breaking season I think he's got a level of insulated value there so the Rams are you talked about the training camp reports that we just dropped our week one version this today on football guys and so I covered the Rams and so I'm pretty feeling pretty dialed in on their Camp right now get Cooper cup because they are running their offense through Cooper cup like they were two years ago be even before this happened get Demarcus Robinson because he has locked down the wide receiver three role and he's going to with pukan noua injured he has great opportunity to play obviously as the wide receiver two if pukan nakua missed any time I'm not overly concerned with pukan nikua because Shawn McVey was the original we're not doing the preseason none of our players are playing in the preseason so if you remember remember back to that I mean that that's always been his attitude on the preseason the other thing to watch out for for the Rams is more two tight end sets they really like Davis Allen a lot and they really like Kobe Parkinson a lot and I don't know that you're going to get fantasy production out of those players but they're going to be on the field a lot more than what they have in the past usually the Rams offens has run about 96% 93% three wide receiver sets there's going to be a lot more two tight end sets especially with puka n coming off this injury yeah and that's ex that's kind of why I had him ranked accordingly because I think there was multiple reasons that pukan AA could arguably hit his ceiling as a rookie and I'm not saying that he's going to be bad that's why I still think he's like a top 10 asset but that means like I I definitely think that Cooper cup's still a thing and I don't think that they want to feed it to one player because no team really wants to do that Adam you had something there yeah no I did I know we didn't want to make this about Cooper cup but I mean the the we can't talk about injuries and not talk about Cooper cup everyone seems to be freaking out about his hamstring injury uh that he had last year and it was a gnarly one he had a setback he missed multiple games we know what happened but I'm not too worried about that um especially wide receivers like Cooper C Elite wide receivers and that profile that they can kind of transition in and out of the slot um they they do well aging into you know for dynasty purposes we talk about like you know the age Cliff or the age a PCS like guys like that t typically age out well again not another one for one comparison but like we talked about someone like Keenan Allen last year like everyone told us that Keen and Allen's hamstrings were held together with Bubblegum and paper clips and then he rattled off the wide receiver 8 season in PPR leagues last year had one of his best seasons in terms of fantasy football production um Cooper Cup's Elite like we do not forget about Cooper cup yeah yeah like again guys like puka nakua is good but we probably had him at his ceiling and I would expect a little bit more like a a negative regression but again that's a that's far to regress from he's going to be all right but not as great as as a lot of you guys say um next we have a really volatile asset that's had uh pretty up and down forever Justin Herbert just because he's been a charger um it is Justin Herbert um he has planter fasia now Adam first question what is planter fascia for a smooth brains that didn't go to medical school and two is this going to greatly affect his play once the season starts yeah so your your planner fascia is if the bottom of your foot it's a it's a tissue that's thicker that runs along the bottom of your foot and kind of provides support for your arch and support for your foot so planter fasciitis is irritation of that tissue um it's painful it's it's it hurts to push off it hurts to run um that's typically why when those guys get that type of injury even if they have you know a partial tear or micro tearing or any type of inflammation of that tissue they're typically in a a walking boot to alleviate them um irritating it when they're walking so they're not pushing off of the of their toes and irritating that tissue uh further it can it can linger it can come back um it could be something that you know especially the first half of the Season maybe we see Justin Herbert not practice the first half of the week you know he misses you know Monday Tuesday practices just because they want to um manage his workload to make sure he's not irritating that um for a quarterback you know can affect your Mobility it can affect off you know pushing off that foot a little bit but you know this isn't a running back this isn't a wide receiver where I'd be super worried about that um you know if Justin Herbert's already kind of been dropped in in seasonal rankings I know we're talking about Dynasty but in seasonal rankings just because there's a lot of unknown around the Chargers offense as a whole you know what what is Harbaugh going to do so I I wouldn't drop him any farther than he's kind of already been pushed down um and then in terms of longterm perspective like it's it's not a big deal awesome yeah I mean that all I heard is that Justin Herbert maybe just got cheaper I don't like and I'll still buy him because it's like what did we expect out of the season anyway um Jeff are are you on the same page there where it's like like I don't think we expected Justin Herbert to be anything more than a lowend qb1 at best uh even if he was healthy so what what what are you expecting so the Chargers are another one of my teams that I'm covering for a training camp so I'm feeling plugged in on the Chargers as well and I think the Chargers are going to be terrible I think the offense everything that I have heard is the the defense is just dominating the offense for the Chargers and I think a lot of that we talked about well I mean just people in fantasy football in general have talked about how run heavy the Chargers should be I mean they've got Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins as their running backs like I don't know how you know it's not like they've got saquin Barkley or Jonathan Taylor or somebody like that that they're going to be run heavy and lean on the practice reports that I have read they were airing it out quite a bit before this injury they were throwing the ball a lot more than I think people expected and lad makoni was looking good Josh Palmer was looking good Quinton Johnson was a little bit up and down but DJ Char was looking good now with this injury here I think one of the areas that I think you're hopeful for if you were still buying in on Justin Herbert would be one he has some athleticism that has not really manifested itself in terms of rushing production but when you look back at Greg Roman's history he's had Tyrod Taylor had Lamar Jackson had Colin Kaepernick so he's always almost always had a running quarterback so there might have been a path there to if the the efficiency or if the volume was a little bit higher than what we had expected we certainly know the talents there with Justin Herbert but now with this injury I think you're on the right track there Jag where if I can buy him in a superflex and somebody's going to give a discount because I think that's going to happen somebody's going to give a discount in some of these leagues I would be aggressive on that I would be looking to upgrade him but long term I I don't know that when you're paying him that much money you've brought in Joe alt you've got ran Slater you've got your tackles locked up you probably going to be looking for at least a better running back maybe a tight end maybe a wide receiver coming in you're going to have some weapons around him and I think long term that's still a talent that I believe in but this injury does open up a window for a buy I think yep and again quarterbacks last a little bit longer and we know everyone knows who Justin Herbert is so even if this lingers or whatever like let's say worst case scenario you know um and he it this lingers for like eight weeks and they' and and Jeff says the offense just sucks like like they're just terrible I'm still going to be okay with buying Justin Herbert and and I'm just going to keep trying all year I'm going to be relentless and then one thing that I would like to um hit on I know again uh I'm going to dig this out of you guys because you guys keep giving me good nuggets but to talk about the rest of that offense this was the risk you know of taking it and I've done it you've done it like like especially in redraft or best ball uh I told everyone kamani Vall like maybe he's like not what you expect and um particularly with the quarterbacks like you said Justin Herbert's a much different quarterback than I've ever seen in a Greg Rowan offense I think it's almost like wide receivers have their different positions they almost play different positions so I can't really project volume but I can't project that he's going to have to pass more specifically because of the player and the pieces he has but moreover I know what he has with the rest of those guys he brought in JK Dobbins and and Gus Edwards and people like well it's Gus bus I'm like exactly it's Gus bus so a lot of those High leverage touches that even when they do get in the Red Zone I expect to go to them so you know lad makoni is probably even going to be a Buy on top of that but kamman Vidal kind of Might ended up being a Dynasty full scold but to not make this a Chargers uh a Beat episode we'll we'll DeAndre Hopkins go to our next guy which is DeAndre Hopkins this one was sad to hear because I finally liked his price uh for being a veteran he has a leg injury and he's set to miss six weeks he is old all the metrics say that this is kind of a sign of things to come Adam what do you what do you think yeah I mean this is why I talked about a little bit earlier but like the age Cliff that people talk in Dynasty this is why some of these guys hit the cliff and fall off the cliff is s some of these injuries start to pile up a little bit it's unfortunate with DeAndre Hopkins um again he's another one that there a lot of people in in Training Camps right now are being Hush Hush about specific injuries that guys are having they talked about a knee injury gave a four to six week timeline based on that information it does seem like he's dealing with some type of like knee sprain um you know can't can't say for certainty but like on that timeline given some like common injuries that guys are having you know could be could be an MCL sprain um could be you know a a serious knee contusion average time you know looking at if we sample out those things and some of the injury stuff that I've looked at and and my database filtering that out timeline aligns with that you know average time Miss is three weeks fantasy production first week back does suffer lingering effects yeah um pulling out again using one forone samples but guys that similar point of their career Doug Baldwin age 30 knee injury missed two weeks fantasy production three weeks after that injury when he was able to return was 40 uh 24% lower than what he was doing prior than that and and averaging in the season so um you know it gives it it gives an opportunity for Calvin Ridley to start the start the season to be the guy probably hurts will Levis a little bit that was going to be a major passing option for him so it's not the end of the world um but it's something that you know if you had DeAndre Hopkins in Dynasty or if you traded for him this off season you were really looking to squeeze as much juice out of that as as you possibly could and this is gonna probably take a little bit of uh a little bit off the top there yeah and it's like your point is like especially it's almost a you know different side of the same coin when you're a rookie and you're not on the field it gives opportunity for other guys when you're a veteran towards the twlight of your career it gives opportunity for other guys because someone I've liked everyone in this offense at price in including nuke and to me I'm thinking that nuke's a dead asset across the board you know redraft he's probably done and you're you're at the same point you were last year where you're just hoping that he pops off towards the tail end in the playoffs um but like you got to think about it Ridley's there Tyler Boyd's there Tyler Boyd knows the system and it's been an effective guy to earn targets and has an old man game and chig is a guy that can earn targets and then they got two running backs that can earn targets so it just kind of makes me think that nuke isn't quite as necessary and on his way out so Jeff we'll kick it to you for the final verdict is DeAndre just a dead Dynasty asset at this point if I could move him I would trayon Burks is having a good camp too and I know that we it's like everybody's gonna be on me on the comments on this because I'm saying my sanders has a good camp and trayon Burks is having a good camp and they're going to say well these players are done but they're still on rosters and they had high investment high draft capital and so if you're a draft Capital slave I mean trayon Burke sitting there as a first round pick in a brand new offense he's having a good camp and so that's where I think Hopkins just in general when you watched him he was never really a player that created a lot of Separation he relied on physicality quite a bit and I flash back to you know comments always love it when I talk about basketball in here but I remember comment from Kobe Bryant when right at the end of his career where he basically said he felt good he could keep going and then he had an ACL injury and he just couldn't come back from it and that's where I hear quite a bit these older players that long as everything's going well you know you you can roll with it but as soon as you get that injury coming back off of that it's just night and day recovery versus when you were 23 years old yeah exactly it's that's why I tell people that I try to miss the clip as much as possible that's like even what Adam said about Cooper cup I would if I can move him for some like let's put this way I'm not going to move him for what I mov DeAndre Hopkins for it's different like you know it's it's more like Derrik Henry but I would try to move him because when it happens you know it just they it just feels like every week they're living on the the injury report they never can hit that Elite production and then there's that one game you know where they catch for something but then you want to invest it all because of the name value and I just kind of want to get out and then again we're kind of Xavier Legette moving to the same team and going to the same side uh of a different coin again like I said with the Xavier Legette um has he even been on the field I feel like he's mainly been off the field he's someone I didn't particularly care for um as a prospect he's just not my kind of guy I bought him because I felt he was cheap enough but like Adam do you know what like what what is his injury um I think definitely in season long you got to be concerned yeah I mean uh in season one for sure um in Dynasty I would say yeah because it seems like uh Xavier Legette was a popular player to fade in rookie drafts like a lot of people like to um talk about how they were avoiding Xavier Legette and he was a trap in in rookie drafts and you know this the second round or or whatnot he had a hamstring injury at OTAs I call him a lower leg injury now I don't know if that's the same thing or not but we're starting to see some things pile up it's not ideal um especially you know people are talking it's an easy comparison because they're South Carolina guys but people were talking about like this is kind of a Debo Samuel maybees asset where they could use him in in different parts of the field I mean you if that was something that you were like hoping for as a ceiling out you could you've seen the toll that that's taken on Dil Samuel getting running back touches and and being used in in that part of the field um if you got a guy like laier Legette that we haven't even hit week one and you've got two soft tissue injuries now I'm not saying his lower leg injury is a specifically a soft tissue injury I'm just speculating on that but if we saying it's another hamstring injury or a calf strain or something to that regard um that's a problem like that's that's not ideal and then you talk about people in Dynasty already not liking him it's just more reason that he's going to go down and down in the ranks and become less and less valuable in terms of of Dynasty Jeff you're our college guys you've been on the training camp beat um has he I I know it took him a while to get rolling in college was injuries a big part of that and then two we've just gotten reports that and again I try not to take a training camp and pre PR season depth chart seriously but Jonathan Mingo has reportedly had a good camp and is the wide receiver too do you think that any of that is uh a fire or is it all just like Sparks and smoke I think it's fire because it's been a consistent report on Jonathan Mingo and then flashing back to Xavier Legette in college his biggest issue was attitude was a problem and basically coaches were on him for years hey you got to get it together and he basically got to a point where it was Do or Die his last year in college and he got it together he cleaned everything up and he was a model Citizen and that that's was the biggest change with his last year at South Carolina and there was a report we we're gonna have a show with 32 beat writers that I'm really excited about but I read one of their reports where they interviewed uh gosh I'm gonna I'm blanking right now but it's the Panthers beat writer and he said that zabel Legette was already having a very slow camp to start out and so that's where I mean you're adding injuries on top of that a slow player he's already an older rookie and then yeah you've got Jonathan Mingo that's coming in pushing hard for a spot he's every report has been Jonathan mingo's turned it around and the Light Bulb Has Come on and so that's you know I'm gonna hit the holy triumphant here between my sanders trayon Burks and Jonathan Mingo but that's what the reports are saying right now yeah it's I didn't like Jonathan Mingo and and rookie draft the only way I took Xavier Legette is he was at the 301 and I was like now I'll take him you're like he's officially cheap enough that it doesn't matter what I think of him as a player he has firstr draft Capital near and data data data like who else am I going to bet on in the third round but uh yeah so that that that that's the only reason why and then the same thing bball he's so cheap you know that like he's worth the exposure for just for what he is as a player but he's not someone I've been really aggressive on and personally I think I would move off of him for multi like like to me this is like strike five if for me to be honest it's like strike five so I'm just done you know and I'm not going to wait and I'm willing to go get another asset that that I actually believe in um we'll move on to the running back position again and someone who kind of has a similar story to to nuk Hopkins and that's Nick chub and we've talked about Nick Chubb him a little bit within our rankings but we his knee was just shredded like I basically if this was like what was like Blitz the League back in the day where you could see their injury you know and how red it got this dude would just be flashing everyone uh every one of his uh car engine lights would be on in his knee but yet people see one video of squatting and they think that he's back as someone who also squats heavy and played running back and also has past 30 I could tell you that squatting and being a good running back don't exactly correlate so where are you at with Nick chub as a player Adam yeah I mean we talked about a little bit with with Jonathan Brooks in terms of those rushing efficiency numbers like if if someone was gonna really break the mold and be an outlier I mean Nick chub might be one of if not the best pure running Runners Rush in rushers in the NFL um but his involvement in the passing game has been basically zero so we can't really fall back on that when we're looking at like post uh ACL injury data and efficiency so you're you're relying on him to either be a huge outlier kind of in the back half of his career um or the Browns to say we do not care your Nick chub we're going to give you the ball 25 to 28 times times regardless I think they like Jerome Ford they they seem to be comfortable using Jerome for Ford later in the season I think this could be an excuse of why Jerome Ford continues to eat into that that workload a little bit Nick chub did have a serious knee injury um and to your point like squatting doesn't it doesn't tell us how he accelerates it doesn't tell us how he decelerates and and you know um how he's able to break away it doesn't measure your explosiveness um and are things that he's going to be looking to get back follow following an ACL tear I don't have really high expectations for Nick chub um you know in Dynasty he was a cell just because it it's going to be hard to come come back from from this yeah and um yeah it's uh I've beat it to death but like Jeff give me a trade scenario that you think would be realistic to get dick chub out of your off your roster at this point because it definitely feels like we have a buy window I mean if I could get a second round pick for Nick chub I would be doing that right now a futured second round pick I mean we we had that with Eric froton we had the 2025 draft episode and how many running backs do we talk about in that and so I think all it was oops all running backs yeah well exactly and so that's where chub is concerning because even if you look at before the injury that was a split backfield and that was injury was so early in the year I don't think the that narrative had time to set in but I think the Browns intentionally were they've always kind of had a split back field but that was really with Jerome Ford being in there and they even were playing a third back Pierre strong a little bit as well and um Adam this is going to be a little bit off the cuff here but you know the potential backup or the potential replacement for Nick chub danta foran had a scary injury the other day in practice I saw a report yesterday that he was back watching practice did did you get anything on what exactly happened there I know he was immobilized and taken off the field yeah I for some reason I was looking at that I I thought it was they were worried about concussion and then they said he like dodged the concussion protocol um there's not a lot things came back negative he posted a statement everything came back negative and he was just taking his time to relax and recover but yeah I I that would be my guess is that like they were worried about concussion or like a serious neck injury they obviously exercise caution in that circumstance it's preseason so you know he was prob if he was cleared to you know turn their light activities or return to sport uh really no point in pushing it and you know first we first week of August um so unless we get more clarity on that I I I wouldn't be too shocked or I mean too worried about you know his ability um to play if if if called upon yeah I know it's just for me like I would even I think I'm cheaper than Jeff I would trade him for like a third probably like especially for next class cuz like I feel like I could get another running back that could get me even if Nick chub does come back and becomes a a rotational piece I get another running back in a third round that is younger doesn't have a shredded knee or something like that so I'm I'm I'm just kind of moving off of them um speaking of dead running backs that I would like to move off of and I never really had Kendric Miller kendre Miller he's someone that I've never believed to me you want to talk about players I've had kendre Miller and the Quinton Johnston Jam Mingo Xavier Legette bucket of players where I told everyone yeah a lot of people are high on them I don't like them regardless of what I think of him as a player he's a guy that I have not seen on the field I can't even say that I'm right that he sucks because like he can't get on the field and he continues just to have lower body injury after lower body injury how does that make you feel as a dynasty manager are you concerned about owning him and does do these compounding injuries correlate overall or is this just kind of bad luck yeah I mean it's it's tough to say if they if they correlate or not um it could be bad luck there could be a correlation It's just tough when when it's early on like this I mean it it's it's certainly not good that we're H we're dealing with yet another soft tissue injury from from Kendry Miller and then on top of that his his coach Dennis Allen seems to pile on as like you know that's a guy that's got to get right and you know you can't you can't make the team if you're uh in the training room all the time essentially I kind of uh butchered that that's essentially what he said though is like that get serious and and get into football um I mean I think the the problem for for me with like Kendry Miller is like everyone wants to push Alvin Cima out the door and Alvin C is a a guy that you know have the is some of the efficienc stuff dropped off yeah but he's somebody that's a good receiver he's always been involved in the passing game I think we talk about aging gracefully in Dynasty like I think he's somebody that that Cliff won't be as Jagged because he he will be involved he could still be involved as like a third down back uh similar to like an a Austin Eckler type type player where you know maybe they're not hand handling 25 touches a game but maybe they're handling 12 touches a game but they're so efficient and they still they still have some explosiveness that matters I think that's Kendry Miller's biggest problem is um there's really no force him onto the field and if he's not going to earn those opportunities then at some point you're just going to get drafted over and somebody's gonna move on yeah Dennis Allen's officially in his Shawn pton error because like at every press conference I'm like bro you're just throwing your players out of the bus man like you don't care at all like no loyalty and um uh Jeff we'll kick it to you cuz kind of like Adam said like even I've bought in Alvin Kamar at Cost because like you know who he reminds me of you you're always a good one with the Deep cuts and I guess this isn't too deep this isn't too deep because he's uh one of the greatest of all time but Tony Gonzalez that's what Alva Kamar reminds me of where like yeah he may not be as explosive and he may not be what he was but up until he walks off that field that dude knows how to earn a Target and especially at the running back position it's the most important um you already alluded to me that you think kendre Miller is dead so um would do you think his cost is to sell like just anything at this point dead dead and do you think there's another another player on that roster that's going to earn touches or is that just Tamm Hill it might just be Jason Hill and and that also might be just a terrible offense I I like the Alvin Kamar call out because I think we've seen Derek Carr likes to dump the ball off yeah kenry Miller I mean Adam touched on it there the comments coming out of Dennis Allen it does seem like yeah dead asset might be I mean anything that you can get maybe or if you can do a sweetener I mean a trade that I did in our listener League I I was very fortunate with the timing on it but I traded Jaylen pul and Kendry Miller and I got back Jordan Addison and I recognized that there's a level of risk on Jordan Addison but I was pretty thrilled to basically turn Jaylen pul into Jordan Addison just off the price of Kendry Miller another player to watch there with the Saints Jordan Mims is having a really strong camp and and he fits that scheme well he's a Fresno State guy like Derek Carr so there there is uh some potential bumping around you know some Alma moer stuff there but T Hill does seem to be a big part of their package and then kendri and then Alvin Kamar as well and like we said with the Chargers I don't know that I want too many Saints on my fantasy football rosters this year I think that that Chrystal LA's comments were pretty brutal about when they asked him if there was a single moment that stood out that made him think that they might have a good team on the Saints this year and he basically said uh next next question more or less yeah because it's um did they have a Derek Carr problem and a Dennis Helen problem really it's a Dennis it's a it's a the problem is top down like they they they've really Marvin Lewis themselves where like you remember the Bengals you're like you have all these pieces why can't you actually do anything with him and it was like mainly because Andy Dalton and I feel like Andy Dalton somehow had a better career than Derek Carr I just don't remember hating Andy Dalton as much early on to his career um but excuse me Kendra Miller's always kind of been dead I like Alvin CRA at Cost um so if if anything you just ye them e them off your roster and then you said Jordan Mims he's a player that if as we get these injury reports and you can move players to uh to your IR or you can move them to your your taxi Squad maybe put in some Fab if you just are feeling froggy but I I wouldn't overspin because like you said at the end of the day he's a saint the last guy that we want to talk about is another one I've kind of given up at least on this year being anything and that's Germaine Burton um he's got a leg injury and this happens after T Higgins comes back to Germaine Burton town um and then we've we've heard the beat about Andre yosis who's someone I liked last season and I kind of faded him just because of Germaine Barton and then T Higgins and this dude's kind of stood out um Adam what is Germaine Burton's injury I again I picked the worst article to prep for this show ever because I didn't get a lot of info yeah I I don't have a clear injury on him he him either um you know it's it's always tough in like the preseason and training camp because they they don't do a clear job conveying it and then you know beat reporters aren't going to like necessarily know the ins and outs they just call it like a a leg injury or it looks like I did some Googling here it looks like uh an ankle injury voids a serious ankle injury so probably an inversion ankle sprain you know looking at times time missed uh wide receivers that have similar injury to that pulling up here average time miss it looks like we're dealing with 1.9 weeks missed so should be back on the field relatively shortly if it's minor it's a little bit more serious maybe could be another additional week or two but uh for Jermaine Burton hopefully it's not um optimal time missed in the preseason if if he wants to earn his way onto the field in that wide receiver three role okay so the Andre doesn't scare anybody but Jeff does all the training camp buzz like T Higgins and top of Andre yosis does that war are you I mean I think right now when you're looking at who's going to be the wide receiver three I think it's going to be Andre Yoshis every single training camp report has basically said that I think Trenton Irwin is going to play more than we would ever want him to because that's what Trenton Irwin does he just gets on the field and so that's where Burton mixing into the mix I I think they'll play all three guys but I I really think that draft pick I mean a third round pick is not what some people think I believe and especially when you're a wide receiver when you're looking in and kind of throwing darts to potentially fill a t Higgins type role you're going to throw a dart on a third round pick on Burton and um I've got you know I'm here in Ohio I've got some good connections with the Bengals it sounds like T Higgins is not going to be a Bengal next year and if that's the case expect them to go into the draft early unless a player like Andre Yoshis really breaks out this year I think that they'll double down I think they'll use their first round pick or second round pick on another receiver so that's where Burton to me has always been a little bit stuck and I'm not really seen what some people have when it comes to the excitement around him for me it was the film and the measurables and the cost like it was those three things like like you know I heard some people were like you know he should be a first round pick if it wasn't for his uh you know attitude and I'm like I I guess like I just don't think like I don't think there's a reason why Germaine Burton wasn't like that productive you know like it's and especially like he's a onetick pony you know like I liked him for his cost and and it's kind of like okay I've got new news and again Jeff like you said all right this guy probably is nothing he's a nothing Burger he's like my van Jefferson's and you know now as a more mature player I just kind of move off of him um but uh that kind of does it guys that wraps up all of our injury report Outro like like uh Adam said a lot of these injuries they're keeping it tight because no one's gambling right now so they're not legally obligated to um that's a little nugget of history there um but uh We've we've given you what you should be doing Adam is a football guy uh me Jeff and Adam are on the same Morning Show hosted by Joey wri that's going to be starting up at the beginning of the season so make sure you guys aren't just subscribed here but
