welcome to the biggest little city in the world Reno Nevada Macky Stadium home to the Nevada Wolf Pack where we have hit the jackpot responsibly with this matchup there's just something about the night cap after a day of wall toall football it just seems this is when chaos ensues as we'll see a squad from the sunbel the Georgia Southern Eagles taking on a team from the Mountain West the Nevada Wolf back for EA Sports college football Reese Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one [Applause] started Georgia Souther will kick it off to get things started let's see if he can make a play on the return nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their Lane and they'll stop him at the 16 so Nevada's offense is on the field for the first time today and here's the man they rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it and he's done it at such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the big moments and he's one of the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line and running backs are so good so talented so elusive you see nowadays they really have the ability to make you miss run you over unbelievable effort nice job you keep that going you're going to be hard to stop it's first and 10 from the [Applause] 31 they're going to ride this running back and a pick up of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that got eight on first down now looking at a second and two power football with the run and it's a first down they'll mark it at the 44 I think it's really important for this offense they get this guy going early in the game and they're doing a nice job of that right now remember he's the kind of running back who gets better as the game goes on that's a really good omen for this offense considering his success now early Wolfpack will have first and 10 keeping it on the ground with the single back not much working there it'll be second and nine and those physical runs take a toll it might not be a big game now but down the road third fourth quarter late in the ball games they tend to turn into bigger runs didn't get much on first down it's second and nine they'll switch it up here and look to throw they're working that left side now they're starting to feel it they've got a first down at the 44 and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive game I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times today it's first and 10 from the 44 yd line they'll try it over the left side nice move to keep running they stop him just short of the first down but it will be second and inches coming up and that would be the definition of first down success putting yourself in a good position it's second and inches I can do whatever I want next I can take a shot down the field I can run the football and get a new set of downs like nice first down execution they'll go to the ground and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down this is an offense that really sees their identity as being able to run the football nice job there picking up the first down inside the 30 at the 29 it's a first down used the play fake now to throw a strike downfield he is down at the one a terrific run after the throw and catch and this defense is going to have their hands full because they're going to need to be comfortable with guys one-on-one on islands in the perimeter of the field and they're just going to have to make better plays than what we saw right there they knew this offense was going to try to be aggressive got to need better effort in the back end for this defense moving forward power ahead they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well and you see the sense of urgency now going up right David on defense you're creating a negative play with their backs up against the wall everybody selling out to stop the run nice job being aggressive by this defense can the defense stop them again on second and goal tries again to get it in just hammer it with this running back again and he knowses his way into the end zone and they just keep feeding it to their Workhorse back to open this game great job in the open field he's got tremendous Vision he can make people miss you saw all of that on display in the opening drive on to attempt the try and he's got the extra point and it's seven nothing to start this one so a drive there of 85 yds and Clos the deal with a three- yd touchdown run just about set to kick it away [Applause] from inside his own 15 looking for room nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the Eagles offense will get the ball for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up the these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game Georgia Southern in a [Applause] hurry nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long looking to throw and he needs a bunch got his Man Down field they'll get it to the 48 no need to measure it a first down man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or up their timing and their Rhythm I can't give them these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different the Eagles have it with a first and 10 he leaves it with his [Applause] back good pick up there they'll move change in their set up at the 41 first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it and right now he's doing some damage on this defense to the ground he's got it again and a nice run there before the defense finally makes the stop I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points nyd pickup on first down and now they can take a shot on second and short they'll run it from the gun that ought to be enough to move the chains and give Georgia Southern a first down this is a guy that can find you the hidden yardage that play he just pushes the pile to get that first down now on First and 10 from the 29 they'll give it to the back dropped after a pick up of three down to the 26 all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and [Applause] seven it's a draw poers forward but stopped after a pickup of two to the 24 [Applause] and the Eagles want to pick up the [Applause] tempo Williams will pass spits it out to the back he's got his man and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup quarterbacks just like anybody else they get in rhythms and to get in a rhythm early on third down and have a little success here and get the sticks moving great chance to continue to get this offense moving down the field to get some more points they've moved it into scoring territory first and 10 from the 11 they'll run it out of the shotgun they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well there's a statement by the defensive line first down play expecting run and they just dominated up front beat one-on ones and force the tackle for a loss going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the endzone the give from the gun pick up of one it's down at the 11 [Applause] [Applause] boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal on third down going up top it's complete he gets it in touchdown Georgia Southern they just took the air out of that thing that might be an understatement they took the ball away and just wore down just grinded away at that defense and took a lot of time off the clock in the process as well I'm impressed with the physicality up front of this offense cuz that's where it all starts if you're going to March the ball down the field like they just did you've got to be dominating in the trenches and they are doing that in this game right now P unit on the [Applause] field right down the middle they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and they finish it with an 11 yd touchdown Dart and we're all square as he's set to kick it [Applause] away looks like he's going to try to return it stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field after standing on the sideline and watching that long touchdown Drive they really need to put something together to give their defense a rest and that's a real thing man like you played a lot of plays you get worn out you need a chance to go decompress on the sideline get some oxygen Palmer now it's on this offense yeah this is the definition of complimentary football cuz it's a two-prong problem you've got to score points and answer but you've also got to take your time and give your defense an opportunity to get their win going to the running game they get him on the ground but not before he gets up for the first down you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack Domina at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first down and they'll line up from the 31 on first down the run from the shotgun great pick up as they'll keep this drive moving and they've got it at the 45 first down you know always want to establish the running game how about this offense nothing fancy run the football be physical get a big game Nevada comes to the line after getting the first down leaves it with the back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last play didn't get much on first down it's second and nine from the gun running back on the move and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stop the really big play well the defense knew coming into this one it was going to be a physical game guys are going to have to be great at the point of attack and get off blocks and make tackles they couldn't stop the offense from picking up that first down on that run play they have just blooded their nose on this drive all on the ground it's first and 10 some belief in that running game as they pick up five to the 35 yd line I I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards make them honor the Run make them know that you're willing to run the football and run it effectively halfway there on first down it's second and five [Applause] hand off from the shotgun and he's knocked down but not before moving the chain and his offense is clicking everything's moving and the guy carrying the football I mean he is carrying the rock like this is a guy that's he's setting his tone for this game creating some balance on this offense this offense is going to be a handful yeah David I'd love to sit here and say well the offensive coordinator is just one step ahead of his counterpart across the field that's not it right now his offensive line is establishing the line of scrimmage and you mentioned the back he right now is running with authority on this drive doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete couldn't make the play on first down they'll try it again second and 10 from the 27 keeps it on the boot leg quarterback on the move still looking on the run and he'll slide to avoid the hit a Nifty pick up there well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nowhere for the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive the wolf pack now operating in the Red Zone on Third and short the power run here and he needed one yard and he didn't get it the defense won the battle up front great team defense on that run play everybody doing their job people winning their one-on ons D lineman staying in their gaps linebackers and DBS filling you just can't do it better no movement from the field goal unit the offense is out there to try to keep this drive alive on fourth down they stop him short of the marker and they'll turn it over on Downs line gets set first down [Applause] using his legs it's white and you can forget running in the middle against this defense well this is a defense that we know takes tons of Pride stopping the Run that's where it all starts and ends with them and you saw a great effort on that last play Georgia Southern in a hurry [Applause] hand off from the gun he breaks a tackle and it took the defense a bit to get a handle on him a little slippery with all those Juke moves when running backs Square their shoulders up it's when they have the most power you see them Square shoulders up break tackles be strong continue to plow his way forward just making it really easy on everybody in this offense by breaking tackles they'll try to bully their way for the first to the ground after picking up the first down you wonder now on offense have they found something in the Run game finally it's been tough for them to get the Run game going but they picked up a nice gain on that last one let's see if they go back to it they'll snap this one from the 32 it's first [Applause] down from the gun they'll try to impose their will finding a way to put that foot in the ground and get it up to the the 37 yd line I know the passing game sells and the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards a pop on the ground but it will be very successful halfway there on first down it's second and five Williams looking for a man quickly out to the tight end they make the Stop and that's how the first quarter will end absolutely nothing settled deadlocked after one period of play as we have a look at the stats they fought to a standstill in the first let's see who gets the edge early in the second Georgia Southern really efficient on offense wide out in motion looking for a physical attack from the gun know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up got three on first down it's second and [Applause] seven he'll do it himself they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well they were trying to set up the option but the quarterback had no chance did you see the defensive tackle what a great first step he shot right through the offensive line and got the tfl on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down well the quarterback in his intended target just simply didn't have the timing there the ball Falls incomplete on third Now setting up fourth down Georgia Southern brings on the punt team let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one a high kick trying to pin them deep they're able to put a stop to that return right at the 30 yd line Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field they've got it back after that last Drive stalled out and they were stopped on fourth down David yeah and they put a little bit of a drive together but Jesse they stalled on the other side of the field and they got to find a way to keep that momentum going as they get closer to the end zone I agree I I do like their mindset though and I think they need to continue being aggressive moving forward in this game Nevada going [Applause] quickly he'll keep it himself they'll pick up four second and Six coming it's the emmo of this offense and they really put a lot on the offensive line to go out and really try and establish their dominance and their assertiveness and they've done a good job of that early in this game running the football offense gets set for second down Lewis wants to pass quickly complete a quick tackle made but he's got ready for the first down well they pick up the first against Zone coverage the biggest key there is the quarterback understanding that a it's Zone but B what kind of zone is it is it one high safety is it two high safeties and then you know instinctively where you're best throw where your highest percentage completion is based on what type of Zone coverage it's going to be he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple nice job by the defense there getting a stop on the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage we know they've been burned a few times early in this game by the QB run but they weren't going to let it happen there after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 leaves it with the running back some belief in that running game as they pick up five to the 35 yd line just a simple power play power football be strong be big be physical make it a fourth quarter game make him feel you keep him off balance now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass shoots it to the left it's complete defense makes a stop but the chain move and it's first and goal from the eight man this offense is so dangerous re they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels Nevada comes to the line on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he pushes his way down to the four as they get closer and closer they've been denied on two of their three pre previous Red Zone trips looking to pay this one off with a touchdown tries again to get it in and he'll be stuck got nothing line of scrimmage still at the four it's looking like they're going to have to throw this one in now on third down David and you know the execution just has to be spot on timing especially at the quarterback position here and thinking about the defense they're aggressive in these situations they're going to play man they're going to play uptight on you so I know that now how do I coun punch and attack this defense and the pressure gets him back at the8 yd line the defense coming up big there and the sack is great but the secondary deserves some credit too no doubt when you can cover like that in the secondary and drop back in your Zone and only Rush a few and you feel comfortable getting home and they're going to get to the quarterback that is a great feeling and that's fun to be a defensive coordinator calling the plays they'll try to put three on the board as a field goal unit comes on from the right hash and this distance makes that angle not quite so severe that thing would have hit a string in the middle of the uprights perfect and with that they've taken the lead after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to [Applause] go and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again running back searching for a hole at the 35 he's got room they make the stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down you ain't getting by all these guys right up the middle unless your offensive line and your tight ends and everybody is putting in the work up front committing to blocking the running back does a great job finding the hole exploding through how about that nice big huge game if I'm the OC let's call that one again off the play fake on first down to throw keeps looking down field able to get just a few before sliding to avoid the hits Hey listen it's important at that position to be able to be good off schedule everything's easy when it's on time you can get the ball out but when things break down and they get off schedule you've got to have a guy back there that can make the right decisions he did exactly that the Eagles will hustle to the line the give to the running back from the shotgun one step twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting them down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs here on third down for this offense they'll try to pick it up on the ground that ought to be enough to move the chains and give Georgia Southern first down yeah third and one you know what time it is it's about the big boys up front you got to give me a little bit of space a little crack you just can't give up that penetration so my running back can fall forward just like that and get the first down and the Eagles are on the Move looking for room it's Arnold and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up I like this guy as a running back because he can run between the tackles and he can also go outside he can really do it all halfway there on first down it's second and [Applause] five he'll pull it on the read pass to first down marker and still running slammed to the ground but not before he gets the first down this quarterback is so dangerous and it looked like the defense had him coralled it looked like they were ready for him to keep the football but that quarterback is just too good he's like a water bug so good short area quickness able to make guys miss then go get the first softened him up with a run now to throw he'll off one deep down the left side DB doesn't outstanding job here on the Deep pass locating the football no Pi able to swat it away pass incomplete and after the incompletion on first down this offense looking at second down wide receiver shows motion out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back [Applause] if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on third down he drops to throw fires to the wide out had it right in his hands in the middle of the field and it trickled to the ground it'll be fourth down yeah and third and short that choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do with they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board Georgia Southern brings on the punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and that punt will Sail Out of Bounds let's see where the official spotted Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger SS one high and deep and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it yeah and I love taking deep shots I think it makes quarterbacks play honest safeties play honest and you could tell just missed a little bit deep on that shot but listen those are shots that we want to take because the risk is definitely worth the reward Lewis to throw fires into traffic F picked off touchdown Eagles a great return for the touchdown any return for a touchdown is a great one to a defense what a play by this defense with the pick six and how about the defender exactly what you're supposed to do breaks on the football makes the interception everybody on defense we turn to offense go lay some blocks so my guy can get it and take it back to the house now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point they're up 14- 10 they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six from inside the 10 here he comes he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field well the good news is they threw a touchdown pass last time it was just to the wrong team Jesse well that's an unfortunate part of the game for quarterbacks but guess what they do happen so you've got to be able to turn the page here and Lead this offense well I think you know this defense is going to be aggressive they're going to jump routes they're going to play aggressive you got to take advantage of that maybe use that this time to your advantage they'll try to put it in drive this time on second down from the 22 out of the gun the running back has it getting that push a pick up of four out to the 26 well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running downhill right at this defense and they're turning out positive yardage early somebody needs to make a play here it's third and long from the 26 Lewis wants to pass and it's incomplete on third down it's so nice when you know it's third and long you know a pass is coming you worked on it all week get your feet set at the sticks understand that quarterback's got to be rushed get him off of his spot nice execution by this defense the wolf pack will line up to punt it away trying to play a little field position with that high high punt this is a spot you see many returners try to take a chance but not this time the fair catch just inside the 40 coming out on first down with the play fake got him down field and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 well after that last play you can see how electrifying this guy is and how special he is after he makes the catch if I'm on offense I'm trying to find a lot of ways to get him touches in this game Georgia Southern in a [Applause] hurry the give to the back and the defense stops him just short of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the sticks man when I can run the footb ball like that on first down and create second and inches and stay way ahead of the sticks and and be in a position now where I can throw the football or run I will have a lot of success on the offensive side of the football the inside handoff brought to the ground but not before getting enough for the first down you know you start day one of training camp running your base runs you need a few yards you run these plays you need a first down you run these plays you rep them over and over and over again they're not sexy they're not pretty but in the end they're effective and they get you that new set of downs when you need them from the gun the running back looking for room and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense this defense obviously knows they've got to be able to stop the run if they're going to win this football game and you wonder if they've been able to make some tweaks and adjustments to try take this running back away they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 on the run it's white got some room headed to the goal line touchdown Eagles and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house Precision blocking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah I it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes and just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone what an unbelievable job blocking up front ready to try the point after [Applause] and the extra point is good and they have an 11-point lead a very efficient five playay scoring drive and they finished it with a beautiful 15yd Run for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive looking for an alley from inside his own 10 nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 not in locked step there with the receiver well this defense knew coming in they were going to see some RPL and they were going to see some quick game a nice job there taking the throw away from the quarterback the incomplete pass leaves him with second down Lewis to throw setting up the screen really good pick up on second down there leaves him with third and two I tell you what if you want to be overzealous and you want to be a Blitzer all the time I like running the screen right behind him did a great job throwing the screen almost broke this one for a long game but it just keeps the defense a little bit more honest if you want to start bringing a lot of [Applause] pressure on Third and they'll try to pick it up on the ground here and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one third down and two you know it's time to get physical and this unit paves the way Jesse and gets the big first down and this back's got such a burst too doesn't he as soon as he saw the hole he exploded through it and picked up a huge chunk of yards right back to the well he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense right away after picking up a first down they go right back to their playmaker at running back and I love the push they got up front getting a hat on a hat opening a huge hole for the back and you become so hard to defend when you can run the football successfully on first down you're starting like that now what opens up play action now you're making me play pass and run this offense if they can create that run physicality now it opens up everything else you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense they've got him looking run now they're going to throw it he got a hand in there knocks it away incomplete good job on defense getting a hand on it tipping it up in the air they weren't able to pick it off but they do Force the incompletion couldn't find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and [Applause] four Lewis wants to pass and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up got to give the defense credit on that play taking everything away forcing the incompletion now it's decision time fourth and short in your INF field goal range what do you do here and they'll send the field goal team back out for the second time tonight he bomed it through a 50yd field goal showing off that powerful back well that kid just showed off his hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with ease so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense guys it's been an entertaining first half and a lot of time left to put some more points on the board no but you got this possession right here to maybe go into the half tied up so good first half but a great way Jesse to end this first half yeah you'd love to take that momentum into the second half and listen this offense practices two minute every single week for this exact situation they'd love to be able to go generate a few more points before taking it into the locker room almost had the completion just missed it well the receiver did everything right he ran a good route he got his head around he just didn't finish the play just look it [Applause] in couldn't find his man last time and that leaves him with a third and six Williams will pass unloads to the wide out wide open downfield ripped off a huge chunk play on that one as he gets the first down before steps out of bounds I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches you just got to get him to the ground quickly barely time to catch our breath after that one and they got it first and 10 threatening just outside the Red Zone he's looking to throw it but a little time lets it Go makes the grab it's white and they pick up just a few on that completion well it's important in this game this offense gets the running back involved out in the perimeter in space where he can do some damage that time they got it to him throwing the football he picked up a couple of yards but it gives the defense something to think about the offense will have to use its first time out of the half they'll line up for a second down play he's looking to throw caught over the middle it's cob and good coverage by the defense just a short gain the offense waste no time getting the timeout call well the drag routs put in this Playbook to fight against manto man coverage so there you see the receiver using his speed working his way across the field he gets Separation on the DB trying to Trail him makes the catch turns it up field for the first he's got it and still on his feet the offense will quickly use a timeout man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out Georgia Southern about to snap it on another first and 10 will Williams looking for a man he caught it into the end zone touchdown Georgia Southern that touchdown puts him up by at least two scores too early to say it's over probably but boy it's starting to feel that way it might not be over but you're in trouble and you better find some answers really really quickly this team is putting everything together and right now you got nothing going come on give me something they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead they go 83 yds on the drive and they finish it off by connecting from 10 yds out so they got the touchdown and as they kick off really important for the defense to shut them down here here's the return from inside is 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field wants to throw on first down finds a tight end just a quick Rhythm throw there and really good use of the tight end yeah good use of the big F I mean go through your progressions real quick you can't find anything get the easy gain don't take a shot down the field all the time take those shots later but take those easy wide openen opportunities to get some positive chunks on second down he'll let it fly fires to the tight end and he make the Stop and that is the end of the first half that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halime update thanks guys a first half that saw a little bit of everything there in Reno and if you thought that was a quick first half you'd be right on the money an offensive showcase yes but it's been those Dynamic running backs who have set the pace I'm curious to find out if this ground and pound approach is going to continue into the second half or if one of those defenses will actually show some pride and with that let's send it back to the guys inside macki stadium Nevada set to kick off to start the third quarter from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again they open this third quarter on top and they built the lead on the strength of that running game and they made a huge statement too just proving to the other team that they're more physical they're winning in the trenches so here in the second half David just keep demoralizing this defense by pounding the football yeah and I'm not going to let that happen I riled up my guys at halftime we're going to put more people in the box and they we got to come out and meet the physical challenge of this offense Williams will pass finds his tight end he make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down you know David this is really what game managing is nice pick up on second down to help them on the next play yeah I think people look at that negative sometimes finding a quarterback that's a game manager no use your brain set up good situations I'm I'm way more successful when I can keep those sticks in a more manageable situation and I'm not as predictable on a third down out of the shotgun on third down outside the pocket Let's It Go and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down defense did a great job third and short on the opponent side of the field they're expecting quick throw everybody they've dug their heel on the ground they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion Georgia Souther brings on the punt team great contact on that ball as it just hangs up in the sky surprisingly makes a fair catch just outside the 40 yd line Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field he's right on target gets away from one finds room found enough room to get it into enemy territory they're down at the 43 yd line one of the things that really impresses me about this receiving group is they're physical receivers they can break tackles they don't just go down as soon as someone gets close to them these guys are always fighting for extra yards Nevada going quickly from the shotgun they'll run it and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the first an array of possibilities here and on second down for this offense wide receiver now comes in motion from the gun they'll try the middle looks like the Wolfpack will pick up the first down so far everything's just seemed to work for this offense when they wanted to run the football regardless of what down and distance it is they're able to get it done up front getting a lot of push and these backs are finding the holes the wolf pack with a first and 10 here to the ground with the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well the most insightful analysis I can come up with on that one is that didn't work back to the drawing board to see if there's something that works a little better soon if I can quote the great ree Davis that was very UNG good not a productive first down play after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust The Shore Hands it's Howell oh he dropped it oh looks as if the defense got it and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own well it's a nice job by him making the catch but guys you got to secure the ball and put it away the play's not over and give the defender credit for knocking it loose and the defense jumps on it Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum last incompletion leaves them still sitting at their own 25 with second and 10 looking for a gap it's white not much doing there he gets it to the 26 a gain of one they're going to keep this drive going they'll have to make a play on Third and long from the 26 Williams looking for a man and he just throws it away on third down I don't think you can give up on a play like that every defense in the country talks about getting offenses in predictable third and long situations where I can bring on more speedsters and I know the pass is coming so I can have more success Georgia Southern brings on the punt team kicks it high and it's just hanging there as if it has helium in it and floating down toward the earth and the return man has no place to run no place to hide and a place to be tackled they'll ride the running back and leave it with him still on his feet at the 45 he's loose and he Sprints to the end zone pouch down Nevada I love the execution on that play great blocking up front just to get the ball carrier an opportunity in the second level of the defense and then at that point it was make a guy Miss and use the that was a perfectly executed play lining up for the pat [Applause] and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get closer what a way to send a message huge play in the running game one snap and you've got a touchdown on the board kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one [Applause] deep from inside his own 15 trying to follow his block ERS couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down well missed opportunity on offense QB and receiver just not on the same page there after the incompletion it's second and 10 from their own 25 misfired on the last play they'll go back to the air fires to the big fella he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down and that's why QBs love their tight ends so much right especially when they're athletic because they make short throws turn into long games because of his ability after the catch it's so unique and special he is dominant in this offense Georg Sou in a hurry fast motion from the offense from the gun they'll try to impose their running game he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three if you're the defense you know that running back is the guy you've now got to stop he's had a lot of touches in this game yes he's made a lot of plays but you've got a chance to win here if you're going to do that you need to him away Williams will pass looking deep down the right side and that's going to be incomplete going for broke on second down but third Down's coming up really nice play by the defender being in a good position for that deep ball down the field not letting the receiver put his big body on him go up over top the only thing that could have been better is that thing tipped to another Defender and it was an interception but great coverage by the defender on Third and long no secret what he needs here almost intercepted and what a momentum swing that could have been but they still force a fourth down Georgia Southern brings on the punt team they may have to pay him over time he's punting for the fifth time today fair catch called for and made first down for this offense [Applause] from the gun he leaves it with the back still running at the 40 what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down when the running back gets going and gets ahead of steam like that so hard to get to the ground that's why you Blitz that's why you bring pressure that's why you bring more guys in the box so you can get him before he gets going but once he got going you could tell it was hard to get a hand on him hard to get him to the ground they'll throw it on first down fires to the tight end that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down nice Patience by the quarterback here working against Zone coverage he was allowing his receiver an opportunity to find that open space in the defense before pulling the trigger out of the shotgun they go to the ground really putting together a threat now they got the first H at the 37 that has got to be demoralizing if you're on defense because they just ran the ball right up the middle down your throats and they gashed you wolf pack will have first and 10 might as well give it to him again they'll wrestleing down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this [Music] one now on second down from the gun the ground game that'll be enough for a Nevada first down well the offense knew what they needed that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive first and 10 they're down to the [Applause] 25 the give to the tail back and they picked up nine on first down it'll bring up second and short listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down that kind of pick up on first down and you can take a shot here on second and short out of the gun the give to the back and he'll pick up the first down after a tough run there man that was a good run but it was almost even better great job by the offense keep the running game game going you get big chunks Like This Not only was that a big chunk it also looked like it could have gone for more Nevada comes to the line on first and [Applause] goal caught in the back field it's Smith that completion has them right on the doorstep they'll mark it at the one this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre-nap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right [Applause] now motion from the offense little touch pass to the receiver good solid tackle the first thing you have to do to make these plays successful offensively is I have to block The Edge I I got to get my Speedster in space they didn't do a good job of getting that guy out there in space where he could really use his Jets nice job by the defense understanding it seeing it rallying to it and tackling that guy for a loss trying to bully their way in and he takes it in for the score touchdown Nevada well this offense has been physical they came out in this game with a lot of Pride and an ability up front and the belief that they can block people and get it done they are dominating this defense three rushan touchdowns now in the game [Music] they got the touchdown but now they want the two to tie this baby up Lewis to throw and good coverage and better hands on that shot to the end zone about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense takes a hand off it's white runs ahead and Powers his way for four yds out to the 30 when you're a defense it is stop the run first that is your first responsibility it makes the whole game easy and right now they got it going on the ground the defense is going to have to change something up these little tiny Dink and dunk Dink and dunk you keep doing this they'll go all the way down the field on you so you might want to get a little bit more aggressive wide receiver coming across in motion give to the back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three those are the kind of plays in the second half you have have to make this back has had plenty of success he's gotten a lot of touches now defensively we got to show him things are about to be different third down conversions always a huge stat and they've got a third and long from the 27 from the gun wants to pass LS one deep down the right side and that one's incomplete they weren't just trying to move the chains they were trying to move the scoreboard instead it's Fourth Down well in the first half this offense was up and down the field it seemed like everything they were dialing up was working and here we are in the third quarter and there's a very rare incompletion on their own end of the field maybe that's the play the defense needs now to spark some momentum a high kick let's see if he can pin him back deep in their own end hand goes into the air for the fair Catch and the catch is made around the 40 Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field just a short pass to the tight end good pick up there they'll move the chains and they're set up at the 41 I know it's something we take for granted guys but the Q did a great job there with the playaction fake he really took his time and sold it and that's what froze the linebackers in the second level of the defense to help make that completion a whole lot easier it's first and 10 they've moved it to the 41 he's going to pass grabbed in the back field it's Howell and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there my old coach said you'll never go broke taking a profit take what's there take the positive yards and never complain this offense has a second down play from shotgun now here's an inside GI a strong tackle and wrap up from the Junior and that last run leaves him with a third down will they keep it on the [Applause] ground Lewis wants to pass it's complete to the left and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains I was starting to think about what they would do if they didn't pick up the first down here but I guess that's a moot point now moot point for sure and the head coach was probably telling them four down territory we're going to kick a field goal whatever the next decision was going to be and now the OC's like don't worry about it new set of downs nice execution by this offense on the Move gets it inside the 25 down to the 22 yd line with a pick up of four and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six he'll run it again they get him on the ground but not before he rumbles all the way to the five and that just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that defense Nevada comes to the line on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run touchdown Nevada and that one will put him up here in the second half and this running back is so dangerous down close to the end got wiggled he's got great vision and burst and he showed all of those attributes right there they'll try to tack one more on their score and with the extra point they're on top by five so that's a 59 yd touchdown drive and they punctuated it with the 5yd touchdown run the kickoff team out there set to booted away he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again their Drive chart is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too they just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this offense needs to get their heads out of there you know what the punters on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they've got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball Williams looking for a man got the Quick Pass finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two Georgia Southern in a hurry [Applause] looking to go up top on first down he's got an open man and he gets a big chunk of yardage to the 34 yd line I don't know who on defense is going to cover this guy honestly he could be a problem for this defense over the middle of the field in the passing game the Eagles will snap it on First and 10 [Applause] looking to move it through the air got his man he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down I'll tell you what that's great execution between the QB and receiver they look like they could execute that throw in their sleep quarterback took his steps threw it on time great route by the receiver nice job securing the catch [Applause] if you like old school running games this has been the game for you and a couple of guys who've starred through the first three [Applause] periods when you're dealing with a deficit like this it's all about somebody stepping up to make a play and you might as well start here in the fourth quarter and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 Williams will pass lets it go to the end zone had it in his hands for the score and let it fall to the turf it'll be third down what a play by the defender there guys in his own End Zone the offense has taken a shot and if that Defender was just one step behind that would have been a touchdown but the hit forces the incompletion they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one third and long and he'll try to throw for it got it in the middle it's F and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop that's why as a defense you feel okay playing man coverage on third down because you know you've got linebackers and you've got players on your defense that can cover these dangerous running backs mono imano nice job tackling in the open field on fourth down he'll try to toss it he's got it on the move and and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down I think the defense was even caught off guard on that one guys not seeing the field goal unit Trot out onto the field they had a golden opportunity there to make a stop and get the ball back without surrendering any points they couldn't do it though and now all of a sudden their backs are against the [Applause] work they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage well I love the aggressive nature of the defense on that play everybody playing with eye discipline they saw the pre-nap motion they knew who had the football and you saw guys play with excellent Instinct running downhill and making a tackle Georgia Southern in a [Applause] hurry got it touchdown Eagles and they've moved out front here in the fourth this game must be moving so slowly for this quarterback he sees everything two or three beats ahead way ahead I mean it's been been really really easy I better get some more hits on him I better do something to make him feel uncomfortable because right now it's just like oh you're running that yeah that's easy I mean he's he's already read your mail you better change the address do something different leading by one they'll go ahead and go for two and try to make it a field goal game trying to barge in he's not going to make it still a onepoint game here in the fourth and hope to push this Edge out to a field goal about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field the give to the back just enough there to get it to the 25 a pick up of two that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up getting them on the ground take away that run game make him onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down from the gun running back gets to give it's loose defense coming up with a huge fumble recovery and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own offensive players when they got the ball in their hand they're trying to make plays right trying to make you miss there's nothing better than closing that Gap and sticking that head right in that guy's chest and causing a fumble Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense off the play fake on first down wants to throw Danes way to buy time and this one will be stopped for No Gain he was trying to push it down field he was looking for a receiver trying to make a play could tell the pressure started to get to him a little bit nowhere to go with the football and just fights back to the line of scrimmage and here comes the offense on second [Applause] down Williams looking for a man just too much juice on that one as he air mails his receiver out of bounds you don't see many of those anymore nowadays the gloves are so good the hands are so good you don't see a lot of dro passes missed opportunity there for the receiver third play of the drive and they need to take advantage of this field position by making something happen on Third and long the sweet feet keeping the Play Alive quarterback tried to scramble around for a while but the defense able to bring him down good discipline defense on that play it's third and long right you're not going to bite on a play fake nobody's going for that everyone knows it's a passing situation they use their speed to get to the QB so here we are on fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the [Applause] world never a doubt for this bigf footed guy 49 ydd field goal is good so after the made field goal they'll kick it away and rely on their defense from inside the 10 here he comes not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field and the fumble on that last Drive could have been much worse first David they they bailed him out they held him to a field goal so that's the good news now this offense has to get it going forget about the fumble Jesse move on be positive and they're upset with themselves too uh they're an offense that Pride themselves on ball security let's see what they do right here with the first down they'll put it in play from the 33 wide out in motion they'll try the run good job running tough and behind his pads as he gets up to the 38 yard line small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this after the productive first down play it's second and six he's got it again nice solid form tackle from this sophomore lining up trying to convert this third and short from the 40 Lewis to throw fires to the big fella couldn't ask for much more there a first down and they're down to the 42 well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm and what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression this Nevada offense really has it going pulls it and fires to the left makes the catch and he's brought down I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even plays than he did here but it was still a positive game on second down will they go back to the ground [Applause] game off the play fake excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away you know these linebackers have to be so good in zone coverage of reading the quarterback's eyes to get to the ball you saw that linebacker do it couldn't find his man last time and that leaves him with a third and six from the gun wants to pass and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 and how about the strong safety on that Blitz great job timing it and also getting to the quarterback sometimes you're going to have to negotiate around tight ends and running backs and that's strong safety he just beIN into the back field the wolf pack will have to bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away and the punt will hit at the seven and they can't Corral it it goes into the end zone it'll come out to the 20 from the gun the running back has it on the move at the 30 that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they get it out to the 36 well the defense didn't Blitz they didn't have everybody in gaps and the offensive line took advantage at the point of attack getting some push opening up a hole and the offense ripping off a nice run there Georgia Southern in a hurry to the air on first down quickly complete he's brought down solid pick up on a little bit short of the first down QB excellent location on that throw out route against man coverage you cannot miss if you throw that behind that might be a pick six so nice job by the quarterback with his accuracy second and short now after that completion [Applause] Williams will pass quickly to the tight end and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down well it's a nice job too of a quarterback after the play fake there getting his eyes down the field he had to get that to his tight end quickly knowing he wasn't going to have a lot of space to run with after the catch and the Eagles come to the line with a new set of downs wants to throw on first down off the play fake quarterback adapting and he gets it just beyond the line of scrimmage before he gets down you know we don't see this very much in college football anymore quarterbacks just taking care of their bodies and making smart decisions get down on the ground so you don't take one of these big hits from these nasty defensive players and just give yourself a chance to make it through the rest of this game just not quite able to make the connection it's incomplete in football you hear the term quick but don't hurry and you could tell when you run these rpos the QBs want to make that decision quick and I think he hurried it a little bit too much got the ball out quick but obviously was inaccurate with his pass third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off going up top catch and stride inside the 15 and he ran away from the crowd and he'll take it in touchdown Eagles a lot of times you see those receivers as soon as they get by the DBS you know that hand goes straight up in the air I got him I got a step on him he got a step on him and the ball was thrown perfectly out in front you can see he runs underneath it gets it and gets the long touchdown on the go route lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is up and good and they have an 11-point fourth quarter lead so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they finished it with an explosive play in the passing game scoring from 47 yards out looking for an alley from inside his own 10 nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Nevada takes over as the offense returns to the field they go to the ground that'll be a gain of five out to the 27 hey five to six yards a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock halfway there on first down it's second and five Lewis wants to pass throws to the wide out a strike downfield that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop Nevada going quickly from the shotgun the hand off to the back it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down after the threey pick up they come to the line Second and seven a little pre- snap eye candy for the defense dumps it off in the flats he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play listen if I'm a QB second down I want to check the ball down and get a manageable third down but when this defense is flying around like this so fast closing out he got to that running back got him on the ground so fast the running back had nowhere to go on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air fires to the wide out snagged in the middle it's Howell he gets the job done on third down they move the chains it's at the 37 well down two possessions good news is you get the completion bad news though did not get out of bounds you know right now saving the clock that is at a premium for this offense this Nevada offense really he has it going he'll try to pop the draw they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two yeah this coaching staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting him drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage eight- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short [Applause] Lewis to throw unloads to the wide out just a bit of a misfire there as they can't make the connection they're trying to throw the out route that time though the QB threw it a little bit too far to the outside and it falls incomplete coming to the line looking for that first down on Third and short from the 29 they'll try to get it through the air grabbed in the middle it's Smith they make the stop but the sweet ring catches plenty to give them a first down and even though they're trailing here in the fourth quarter they've got a quarterback that can bring them back but they need him now to play his A+ level of football we saw a nice completion on that last third down let's see if he can keep it going Nevada comes to the line after getting the first down they're in the red zone and they'll pass it and he dropped it just didn't look the thing all the way in well the quarterback had the look he wanted he had his big fella down here in the Red Zone that's supposed to be an easy pitch and catch but his buddy puts it on the floor they are controlling the ball ninth play of the [Music] drive second and 10 he'll throw again going for six he makes a catch at the endzone touchdown wolf pack before that score considering last rights now all of a sudden they're not dead yet in fact they're feeling much better and they're alive and they've got a chance and I'm looking on the field right now I'm looking at their sideline they're energized reys after that last score all of a sudden they believe they can come back and win this game this is a totally different looking team than what we saw earlier now they'll try to get the two and make it a three-point game late [Applause] Lewis wants to pass quick strike complete he is denied no good on the two-point try and the lead remains at [Applause] five almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return Georg has it back and here comes the offense again now they need to put something together to answer that last they get enough rush and it pays off the sack at the 20 when it's a playaction pass that quarterback he really has to sell the fake he can't tell his offensive lineman's getting beat right away while he's selling the fake he had no shot clock continues to run and they'll be happy to wind it all the way down before they snap it on second down just keeps firing nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away well they've done a lot of really nice things on the road in this game so far and that's why they have the lead but after that incompletion now you can sense the momentum now switching back to the home team late in this game this is the type of play that could be a pivotal moment tight game third and long coming on the move he fires another incompletion on third down and that is a frustrating possession for this offense you wanted to run the football maybe take some time you did the opposite got in a bad situation threw the football stopped the clock not how you manage a game late in the fourth quarter Georgia Southern brings on the punt team three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball working his way on the return up to the 40 yd line before he stopped we've reached a two-minute warning and the defense needs to come up with a stop to close this thing out finds a man on the right and he's brought down after a nice gain and how about the defense how big was that stop forcing the punt getting it back to the offense and all a sudden you feel the momentum now on their side now they've got it at the 44 on First and 10 Lewis to throw and the pressure will get there the sack down he goes in the waiting moments that could be a costly play this is one of the reasons I love this linebacker he is an outstanding pass rusher he's got speed he's got quickness and Agility to avoid the offensive of lineman running backs and tight ends on his way to the quarterback sprinting to the line to try to get this one off clock's running on second down they'll take to the air Mak a connection chopping up this defense and they've got it all the way down to the 23 the offense gets a quick time out at this point every second is precious going up top on first down quickly out to the tight end and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up well they don't pick up the first down there but in this two-minute situation they need their quarterback to be decisive to be accurate and make really good decisions and we'll see what he's able to do as they inch closer and closer towards the goal line the hurry up now second down caugh kicking he's looking to throw tosses it incomplete well I know it hasn't been a tremendous day statistically for this quarterback but his decision making has been good enough to win this game hasn't thrown a lot of TD so far but when things aren't open he throws it away like on that play right there he's not putting his team in a bad spot and that's why they still have a shot to walk out of here with a W on third third and long triy to convert through the air tight end getting vertical The Tackle is made but he's got it first and goal from the six they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally here late so the opportunity with a touchdown here to take a fourth quarter lead Lewis wants to pass touchdown wolf back and in the final moments they've taken the lead really good good execution by this offense late in the game under a minute score to
