and here in the Central Valley Eyewitness News is analyzing the arguments made by both candidates tonight with us is eyewitness news reporter will Silverstein will well Michael before the debate we spoke with Bakersfield voters on their biggest issue this election let's take a look here my energy bill was $600 it's never been that high inflation gas prices food bu all of our business costs has gone up 20 30% it's crazy all right so it's the economy and affordability naturally the moderators open the debate with a question on the economy but instead of using the question to their political gain some experts say both candidates Trump and Harris took a big swing and whiffed I don't really think that vice president Harris gave a good answer uh on that I mean she was talking about the opportunity economy but the question that was initially asked was are we in a better place now than we were four years ago she didn't actually answer that she just went in a roundabout way of discussing that um and then Trump talks about the economy but he does it in his Trump way the best economy we've ever had and now this is the worst economy and they're the worst president vice president ever and that's like that's literally nothing either it's just um a lot of word salads I guess so whichever word salad you prefer we'll have some more conversations tomorrow and if this debate helped or hurt each candidate but for now will Silverstein Eyewitness News hi I'm Melle Mia with Eyewitness News Bakersfield Now on YouTube thank you for checking out our YouTube channel where we have tons of great content to choose from while you're here go ahead and click on the Subscribe button right there that way you can stay up to date on all the things related within Kern County thanks for watching [Music]
