needs to be decided that is in New England New on Sports Center gerro Mayo on what he values about Drake may as he evaluates his quarterbacks to me the top two things mental toughness and just competitiveness those are two quality that I really look at uh you know with quarterbacks I can't sit here and tell you unless it's like a A Philip Rivers release where man that's that release is kind of weird I don't get into the technical stuff like that but for me evaluating a quarterback or any other player but especially the quarterback they have to be mentally tough and they have to be able to just bounce back from all that you know the adversity that they're they're bound to see what have your thoughts on that going into camp and coming out of camp with Drake because you knew jacobe had those two things yeah if you guys remember early on like he was you throw interceptions and he get so down on himself and I would say now as we exit Camp he's done a lot better job being able to pull the nose up on the plane uh when it seems like it's going down and I think that's an important quality and Drake May trying to be qb1 in week one I have my thoughts on that after what we saw from M Jones in New England but a lot of rookie quarterbacks trying to make a case in the preseason finale take us through those quarterbacks starting with Drake May so Drake May has made a little bit of a case but here's the thing with that situation when they drafted May 21 years old Tennessee former third round pick can he hang on but I was told that that he's acquitted himself well enough this preseason played a lot faster mentally where the Titans are now considering do we keep him along with Mason rudol have two backups so he's helped himself a lot in Tennessee under Brian Kalan over the last eight months so it'll be interesting around cut down time and then Bryce young so he is making a stand here in Carolina after a disastrous year in year one but with Dave Canales they've noticed a few things that have stood out his command of the offense is a lot better less pre- snap pen penalties less issues at the line of scrimmage so he's running a cleaner operation as the quarterback of the offense and then I'm told he really makes a couple wow throws per day he's really good off play action he's throwing on the move so they like what they've seen but this will be his first game action under this new offense they're going to give him probably a quarter or so see how he does yeah a lot of young quarterbacks trying to prove themselves in that preseason finale Jeremy Fowler with expectations for him because weak one is right around the corner well your expectations is you're going to get a lot of wow and you're going to get a lot of oh no and and that's what he brings to the confidence back we saw that when he threw the interception he kind of had a two or three Bad series after that you got to get him out of that yeah you and I talked a lot about this last season coach because it was like Anthony Richardson no Bullseye in his back to start last season then he goes out now he's coming back we kind of know what he's made of so we'll see see what the Colts can do with him early on her Edward sticking around though every once in a while less than 16 games of total experience and on top of that he is 22 years old in fact he is younger than four of the six quarterbacks that were taken in the first round about uh this year alone let's stay in the division because I think a big part of why people have so many expectations on these young guys is because they're being compared to CJ stra who was fantastic wins a playoff game wins rookie of the year for the Texans but how far do you see him taking them in year two the thing that you like about CJ Stout is this a rookie quarterback only had five interceptions yeah he doesn't turn the ball over now for me how does he handle Stefon Diggs that's more important than anything right now if I'm CJ stoud I'm calling Josh Allen how do you deal with this guy because he's an emotional player they have a lot of guys on offense tank Dale Joe Mixon now uh Nick Collins uh Schultz the tight end there's a lot of people on offense that need the ball Stefon Diggs wants the ball every play he's 7-Eleven he's always open how do you deal with him on the sideline that's going to be the key going forward that's a his qb1 this week on the depth chart my tommen said nothing has changed and so I've heard from throughout that Russell Wilson's in pretty good position here that talking to people with the with younger quarterbacks they value that they don't want to turn the ball over they need somebody somewhat safe Russell fits that mold I'm open to something crazy happening in the game this weekend and you know if something were to go wrong and Fields is magnificent maybe that will change but right now it does not appear that's the case how every quarterback wants to be described safe honestly familiarity is probably on their side a little bit too because three of the Steelers first six games of the season are teams from the AFC West where he was for the last two seasons including against his former team the Broncos um I'm not worried there are some other quarterbacks that have some things that they want to prove with this final preseason game and take us through a few of them and start with last year's number one overall pick Bryce young Bryce young yes so I checked with the team and some people with the Panthers about what's been different with Bryce young this time around compared to last year he's had less sort of fumbles pre-nap penalties at the line of scrimmage during practices so that's been a good sign he has made two to three wow throws pretty much every day in practice and the line of communication with the new coaching staff has been really good so they're trying to bring all that momentum into this game he'll probably play about a quarter or so get some run you will see the new look Bryce young they believe he's a different quarterback we'll see how it translates H and hooker this one's interesting because some teams out there still need quarterback help and this is a guy who was a day two pick a year and a half ago but he's got a lot of ability and talking to people with the Chiefs they said he was really impressive last week as you see here seeing the field he could have some trade value if the Lions want to exercise that because they have Jared g under contract for a long time now so could be a name to watch potentially I don't think they want to move him though Malik Willis a year ago I would have said he's probably trending toward being out in Tennessee former third round pick but I've heard it he's turned the page enough and is playing a lot faster in Brian Callahan's offense that they might keep three quarterbacks they have will lus as a starter Mason Rudolph as the number two but Willis has certainly helped his cause going into this season and the Titans are going to close the preseason against the Saints on Sunday and what apparently could be really impactful at least in terms of Malik Willis's career Jeremy fer has
