thank you everybody it's an honor to stand before you and speak about the Lord and what he is doing in Lynchburg Virginia firstly Pastor you have a preacher in your hands a musician in your hands and a scholar fantastic so um Paul brought up eclesiastes 11:8 but if a man live many years and rejoice in them all yet let him remember the days of darkness for they shall be many all that comes is Vanity a lot of the students come to Liberty University with they carry a burden in their heart just like any other human being the longer you live the longer you will you will face primary trauma or secondary trauma so that's where we have wonderful professors who are Christians not all the students are Christians but the professors are Christians to hold you in prayer to hug you to pray for you so I was teaching in Liberty that's where I met Luca and that's where I played the cupid and got them married right so um that's not part of our curriculum matchmaking no so I was teaching in Liberty for 4 years years I teach the nursing school and in the nursing school we did do not curve grades because one of the things we are pretty strict the other departments maybe they do do you medical school so because we are in the medical line we do not curve people's medications we don't curve people's life I'm very strict when it comes to uh clinicals so in the nursing school we do not do that but I thank God curving is part of God's grace someone once told me that you know how you are in the hands of the Lord right and one thing they they say is I always had this picture can you hold this that God actually holds us like this in the palms of his hand but someone gave me a illustration that when you are in his hands he holds you this way whatever comes in your life you do not drop you are still in his hands and I always have that imagination so whatever yall have gone through in life remember he holds you tight and Liberty Unity we try to do that for our students and well I said I a disclaimer here I'm no more with Liberty University like I used to teach online I used to teach um um uh residential and many others but one of the reason I left Liberty was because I finished my doctorate I went back to do my um Master's second Masters in psychiatric nursing nurse practitioner because of trauma that people face many people are suicidal attempted Su suicide they come with attempt suicide and things like that so I work in the emergency department the ICU I do T Health I do impatient psychiatric just because God called he equips and Liberty I feel that they have a lot of solid professors but I'm out there and uh my favorite group you would't believe is the transgender group because they are so confused and I hold their hand and lead them in confusion to the to the Lord so Liberty is a world class it has a worldclass education for real okay it has 700 programs of study don't expect sometimes when we go into Liberty we think it's a Christian environment everybody is supposed to be saying hallelujah praise the Lord but the lot of them come in with a lot of issues so don't be fooled that you are in a Christian environment no one is going to hurt you so young children you go in there you be the light of the the world all right you know the father and you you are called by his name you be the light of the world don't expect to be expecting them to change your diapers you change other people's diapers and lead them to the Lord state of art facility honestly when you go to Liberty you'll go wow wow wow and I tell you what all the WoW is to the glory of God everything is done in prayer I love the fact that when I do Clinic with my students I can actually pray with them they expect you to pray they expect you to when I come in the morning I pray with them at the same time I did clinicals with the hospital I have to actually remember that I cannot just pray so what I do I come early with devotional book and start doing my devotion and they'll say well my my name is Raj Bower so they said Dr Raj what are you doing and I I say well I'm doing my devorce would you like me to do devotion with you you kind of have to be a little sneaky and you have to carry yourself because you are the light of the world remember children adults we are the light of the world don't hide your light under a Bushell and uh at Liberty University also it's honestly a very vibrant campus the reason I said that how many campus in this this place that you can actually go and say hey professor can you pray for me or you can call a Christian group to pray for you every Wednesday they have preachers that come in and they have music and they have worship unto the Lord everywhere else is closed the campus is closed during that period of time and everybody Worship the Lord and so you grow you have real good speakers you you grow in the Lord it is not just a Unicity it is a community community you grow your spiritual life you grow it's what you want like Paul said it's what you want in life you can go for it if I take you to a buffet a Chinese buffet you stand there and complain to me that you are hungry you have to take the plate you have to serve yourself you have to put in your mouth and you have to chew and you have to swallow everything is provided for you choose this day whom you will serve choose this day what you will pick healthy food or some baloney food okay so there's a lot of worship and it's all wonderful I'll you know I have 15,000 words and my husband have 5,000 words so I'll give the Mr 5,000 words to speak [Applause] so this is a real switch for me uh generally I'm talking about how uh solders blown up leg will affect their bodies uh in front of people but I won't talk about that here I have three points actually that I would like to make one is that you can be what you want to be in this country you can do it no matter who you are you can look at us my wife and I as educated individuals and that's sort of the fake way to look at us my wife has more alphabet soup behind her name than I can actually remember okay but she started her nursing career at what age at 40 at 40 years old if you're wondering don't I'm 16 so no matter what age you are you can begin your journey myself my grandfather was a son of immigrants from Germany he had a third grade education as a farmer in Wisconsin and my grandmother read us Bible stories as we were growing up and as I went through life you just work hard you have faith in the Lord and things will develop for you if you do your part know that God will do his part in your life but you have to do your part so you can look at my life and say oh you know he's from male Clint ni he's from the University of Pittsburgh he has this wonderful research job at the uh University uh Liberty University at the medical school but along that way it's not always been Rosy okay when I was in my 40s my wife died of cancer when I was in my 40s my son died of cancer now no matter whether it's a grandparent an uncle a mother a father a son or a daughter know that they want you to live the best life the fullest life that you can live and live it for all you have live it for them live that good god-filled life for them so you can look at the letters behind our names and stuff but it's it's a struggle everybody's life has a struggle so you can look at it and say oh look at them no you can do it I am a son of a second generation immigrants with of a third grade so the other thing is yeah Liberty University I've been there for 10 years now now I move from the University of Pittsburgh uh we have a wonderful program if you're interested in medicine it's called a 3in1 program you can go to the first three years of undergrad and then apply to medical school for your senior year and get credit for your first year of medical school to your undergraduate education so it cuts off a year of going to undergrad education so that's a wonderful program that we have at the medical school for you parents sending your children to Liberty it's a very safe environment so you can rest assured that your children will be very well taken care of and for you kids it's really a a beautiful place it's very vibrant there's many opportunities there and I really encourage you to look at Liberty as an option so thank you for having us and yes as Bonnie had said you know we really
