Start the 49ers won their second preseason game 16 to10 we talk about that game the upcoming game against the Raiders and definitely some contract situations today on 49ers [Music] uncom I'm have to restart it bro hold on all right hold on all right so we'll go from 30 seconds okay all right Host Introductions the 49ers won their second preseason game 16 to10 we'll talk about that game the upcoming game against the Raiders and of course contract situations going on you are now tuned in to 49ers uncovered Preseason Game two Thoughts [Music] hey what's going on everyone my name is ma you can find me on Twitter at C King 49er 17 with me as always on 49ers uncovered Chris how you doing Chris I'm doing good how are you good man uh Niners got the dub it is preseason but it's nice to always get a dub right uh what were your overall thoughts on that game um it was good to get a win you know yeah see him close out a close game whether it's preseason or not so yeah we finally got to see our guy Tanner morai work as well nice to see him getting the rotation we actually saw all four of the Niners quarterbacks those there one in general that you likes more so than the other you think one guy has the uh I mean obviously per is the starter you think one guy's got an advantage probably Josh dos he uh I think he's he kind of pulled away in that game from yeah for sure Brandon Allen I I think so too I think Allen's more of your traditional backup game manager whereas dos can kind of do that but he becomes unhinged and that's kind of when he plays his best ball I feel like uh any other players that stood out to you um Jacob cow actually looked really good that was impressive yeah that deep ball over the top that he had uh he's a shorter stature than most of the NFL wide receivers or Corners out there and for him to still come down with the big ball like that uh I mean we already know he's a great route Runner so to have that actually a little bit on top uh it's nice especially with our other rookie first- round pick not being in really nice to see a guy step up uh who else uh Tatum bethon had nine tackles that was nice That's my boy man I love that guy people are saying that he's not good in pass coverage uh he's stepping up to the plate and I think the Niners are really seeing it and he's kind of finding his own um I don't do you think he makes Final Cuts um I'm gonna predict that he does I think so too the ners usually keep five or six linebackers on the roster uh yeah I really have liked his play he's been very aggressive honestly that entire Niners defense has just been insanely aggressive whether it's the you know the first guys or the last guys um Brock py got in two series I think I what what were your overall thoughts like he was running with twos and threes yeah he did have that one kind of wonky play where he you know he tried to do a little razzled Dazzle turn around threw across his body what were your thoughts on for um I didn't like that throw at the same time you know he's not playing with a lot of his starters so yeah we kind of got to cut him a break there no for sure I see that I kind of like he said well in an interview that he wanted to get Returner Situation out there and kind of get that I think coach Shanahan's GNA like him getting some of that adversity out and done because there are going to be some games I mean hopefully not but in the heart of the Season uh that pry might have to step up and win a game by himself might have injuries might have other things so uh it's nice to kind of put your quarterback in situations to where he doesn't have you know several weapons like and all the you know the gang that he's used to get him out there with some you know some humans not exactly superheroes and see how he does so um how many players do you think Kyle Shanahan is going to continue to rotate at the kick return position uh we saw some fresh faces out there again it seems like maybe the window is shut on Ronnie Bell and Trent Taylor what are your thoughts on the kicker or not the kicker the kick turn situation um you know it's definitely hard I think you could be correct about that shutting the door on Trent Taylor and Ronnie Bell yeah especially Ronnie Bell but Trent Taylor has been pretty solid in the return game in his career so he might be the one to make the cut if one of them does yeah um I did see Ronnie Emergence of D. Puni Bell had a pretty good downfield block push the guy to bounce maybe to the ground I think uh Trent Taylor's more one of those guys where you kind of know what you're getting with him nothing too special but if you need him to fill that slot slash kicker return roll he can but I think that the Niners would maybe be a little bit wiser to keep breida on the roster for that locker room presence we also saw him returning kicks you think he did all right yeah I I do okay for sure I'm keeping it on the offensive side of things puny first round pick puny he's looking really good man uh he didn't allow any sacks in college hasn't allowed a sack yet I think only one PR sure it is preseason so I won't fan the Flames too much but um to the Moon right what are your thoughts on py I love him I uh I couldn't have expected anything better than what he's done um Shanahan this week I don't know if he kind of let it slip on accident or if he did it on purpose but he did say that pun is the starter yeah kbrr he definitely threw Chosen Anderson that out there uh nice to see I think we kind of figured with some of the offensive line L that we've had uh berford and whatnot getting injured um other wien as well but for him to come out and just say in the middle PR like that's I mean pat on the back he's definitely earned it he's working it he's got a amazing attitude I saw Brick by Brick on YouTube um about him and he is just man humble ready to work good to go and a ginormous human so that was really cool to see um you think we'll see any chosen Injury Report Anderson this week probably I think practicing a little bit more right yeah how much remains to be determined but I think we'll see him yeah they didn't sign for no reason they want to see what he has yeah hopefully and that's kind of what was going to get into with the current transactions the Niners haven't had any since the last game so I think this is kind of out of these guys this is going to be it would you agree yeah okay uh with that we'll go into the injury report Danny gray and Trent Taylor both have undisclosed injuries Christian mcaffrey you already know he's not playing uh Davis defensive tackle he's got the KNE thing he's going to be the season he's on IR Spencer berford is still questionable for week one but as you just said puny is the guy at the guard position there Feliciano injured honga is in the upward steps of maybe playing week one if I was a bet man I'd guess that he would just go week two and the ners will rotate uh safeties or whatnot but H yeah Ricky Piera as well still dealing with that shoulder I'm not sure if he's been practicing more or not I don't know if we'll even get preseason R so like we said it was nice to see uh the other wiie wide receiver Cen do work D Winters with an undisclosed injury Fred Warner's got a foot injury Jan Jennings with the oblique Drake Greenlaw he is on IR with the Achilles from the Super Bowl uh Williams an offensive tackle who we signed and then four days later injured with a knee injury Aaron Banks the guard he has a finger in was that is Pinky I believe so okay it's Pinky uh Amry Thomas with the forearm injury not sure Running Back Room if he's going to be making the roster and then Drake Jackson has been on the PT uh any of these guys you want to talk about or is that kind of straightforward for you uh it's pretty straightforward I mean Ricky piercea though maybe you know it's going to be hard for Ken to get significant playing time to start the season being a rookie yeah it's a good thing the ners are so deep a wide receiver and like we have the I don't want to say emergence of Coen but that preseason little like okay all right this guy was definitely worth a pick right so that's kind of nice to see the Niners running back room though um not on the injury report for the first time off preseason gandoo and Jordan Mason sorry JP Mason are off uh Niners full strength running back room well I guess aside from Chris mcaffry but he wasn't playing preseason uh scary thoughts or what um I'm excited for JP Mason man I mean he's kind of ran away with it this preseason with all the injuries and we'll see if he can maintain that yeah I kind of want to see what the workload is going to be for him and Elijah Mitchell um Shader did get a crap ton of work class game but I really want to see what Shanahan's thinking with those two guys and I want to see if breeda gets sprinkled in at all either I want to see if he's just going to be looked at his special teams now that he did do the returning or if he's still G to try to get in the mix there um any other thoughts on the running backer um Sher shraer might make the practice squad would be my guess yeah I think we that preseason week one just kind of from the outside looking in there isn't there's not enough uh meat on the bone on the roster for him to kind of be there but we've seen you know with Elijah Mitchell unfortunately he's got trouble staying healthy so having a guy on the practice squad I think would definitely be uh good for the ners uh he might also you know go on some special teams units as well and out of the season and whatnot um Mitch wowski do you think the punter job is in uh you think there's a little punter game going on here with the new guy I think he dropped like three or four punts inside of the 20 man some nice back spin on those things uh or do you think he's gonna be all right um he'll probably be all right but you know he did have a good preseason nobody can deny that and it's not only the accuracy he's got a good leg man he can kick it yeah man Presley Harvin the thir uh drafted by the Steelers three years ago I just don't think they resigned him uh he's I mean I don't know I'm not one to get like crazy nuts about punters you know I mean I love Jake Moody so I'm all about special teams a little bit I guess but to see a punt drop like that on the 49ers 2024 Draft Class five bounce backwards to the seven or the three like that's you can't ask for much more from a guy man and for him to come in and do it I know it's his preseason but man that was those are really really nice to see so um honga do you think he's going to be back week one um I don't think so if I were to get but he'll be back at some point he'll be in there yeah okay um so this rookie draft class we kind of talked about a little bit insane nuts one of the better ones from the Niners as far as like allog togetherness right like you got a guy every single round that is probably gonna end up ping out aside from our first round pick but puny uh the offensive lineman is you know he's playing like a first- round pick and now he's starting so do you think that this is is the best draft class in a while yeah it I think it definitely is I mean puny Mustafa Ricky peera if he gets on the field if you watch his college tape it looks really good yeah you know Tatum bethon could work out I really like bethon man I think he looks good he can get some uh some agility some steps in this year and the off season next year and I I think he might be able to take a step forward and maybe actually I mean I don't know we said he might make the roster there are a couple guys I think it's between him and Flanigan fouls if I was a guessing guy um I think that he might make the cut though just because of his youth I don't know maybe I mean he has a seventh round pick so could try to roll him over to the practice squad but I don't know if someone else would try to jump on him um what do you think the injury status of Piera means for his overall development there are a lot of Cowing or Pearsall? good wide receivers on this roster C has shown that he can play K Shanahan doesn't care how you were drafted when you were drafted as we saw with auk in his second year he'll he'll bench you man he doesn't care so do you think that this stuns piol or do you think that maybe he'll get his opportunities in the season I think he might have a tough road ahead we know like you said Shanahan is pretty hard on rookies he makes them earn their stripes yeah so who do you think is more game ready Cowan or piol at this point I was say c yeah I agree as well um it's just because we haven't seen piol you got to get used I'm assuming to NFL speed a lot different from college so to see C out there doing work um definitely nice but you'd like to see your first draw pick out there at all times um who do you think will see the field more just based on their role um probably counting right now and that's that could be because of Pier Saw's injuries you know like we just talked about it's going to be hard for him to get on the field but calling looks good yeah no he really does he can fill the role uh depending on the packages or whatnot I think they'll have a couple special place for them um yeah so let's see uh the Niners wide outs from their twos and threes have had separation issues do you think that's going to be something that goes into play and Factor whenever Cuts come I think next week or do you think that the Niners kind of already know who they're going to cut um they probably already know I mean they at least have a a good idea let's I think there's a few players that they're going to watch in game three just to kind of solidify their opinion but do you think that Robbie chosen has a spot on this roster or do you think honestly I'm still in question on why we signed him I I don't really know just like maybe it was one of those like hey we don't really even know who we have right now so let's just get him on what do you think my guess would be I don't think he makes the final roster yeah he hasn't really played at all um hopefully he does play this week but I don't know how much he's getting into the Playbook and there's a lot of good wide receivers on the 49ers roster yeah and they still have Chris Conley I [Music] think yeah for sure um how many running Potential Linebacker Cuts backs do you think we keep um so I have four I had Caffrey JP Mason El and Matt bid probably yeah I like that bur call I think Bida and Sher will switch in and out if need be but I do think breida does um Wiggle his way into the roster which linebackers do you think are out so which ones are out or well which ones are in I Defensive Line Talk so I got Fred Warner Dre green law DeAndre Campbell D Winters Flanigan FS Jaylen Graham and Tatum B okay yeah I like that um Graham had a really good game G man yeah looked like he was doing some work reading his keys good side stepping reading the Run um definitely showing that uh that power I think he has sack too pressure yeah so um the defensive backs that we have on our roster are insane right now as far as recent years very deep got a lot of guys at different positions a lot of versatile guys as well you go on another side of the coin our defensive line depth do you think that it is on par with the rest of our defense in the depth or do you think that's kind of the weak spot in our defense I think it's a little bit of a weak spot but you know you once Nick Bosa gets on the and then they're going to rotate gross gross Matos Robert Bill maybe Alex Barrett and Jonathan garer I think they'll probably be all right yeah it's just more of the depth I think that is concerning right now there are a couple guys like Barrett has been he's had an amazing I think he led pressures last week uh for the Niners garvin's been all right as well you said Beal he kind of BA/TW Contract Talks gotten after the quarterback a little bit not too much but he did have a better showing in week two I think than he did week one um Alex Barrett did get 33 snaps last week but the one with the most was Jaylen Graham he had 56 that's insane um lutter Jr also down the stretch corner he was uh in on some plays breaking some stuff up he had a couple shoulder tackles though one missed but um I think he did all right overall so all right the looming topic that we have to talk about I really don't want to because there's no new news the contract situations between iuk and TR Williams uh what do you have any updates do you think there's going to be anything like to you know the clock's kicking right yeah I mean every time we think something's about to happen it ends up being no news yeah and that's it's just so disheartening like what could actually what is the thorn or the straw that is keeping everything else from falling into place uh it's I mean we were I I think we've seen that it was the fourth year of the contract and the guaranteed money there that was obviously Trent Williams issue even though he signed a contract that didn't have guaranteed money at the end of it so I don't know maybe going forward some of these players uh work on those initial like work on that part of the contract in their initial signing uh things like that something for their agents to look out for at what point though do both sides just need to look at each other and be like all right look I need you you definitely need me as a player let's sign this and let's get a r um in my mind it should be very soon I mean the regular season's coming up in a couple weeks and it's pretty obvious that they need auk and Trent Williams out there so right the offense just is not the PS WK3 Raiders game same with obviously Trent Williams but auk on the outside too uh especially if piol is not gonna be ready because he's the guy that would be assumed to take over that role I don't think that's Jaan Jennings role I don't think it's Divo Samuel Ro um I don't know if Cen is mature enough I don't know if mature is the right word I don't know if he's really fit to play that role so I think it really rests on auk he was P's favorite Target last year as we've said a million times on the show so I agree with that um all right we'll move forward to the game against the Raiders the starters were on the field a lot during practices this week I think they had two or three um they gave the backup players some rest how much do you think we see the starters against Vegas um I think we'll see them at least a couple series um I don't think we'll see them a whole PA because they're still a little wor weary about the injuries rightfully so yeah uh we saw the Raider well we didn't see but I was looking it up the Raiders last week Travon moig Robert Spain jakori b a lot of their bigger guys had 30 to 40 snaps a couple series probably half maybe almost a half the ners I guess we just say Brock py had two Series so do you think it stretches Beyond two series you just like the ners like all right we don't want any more injuries let's just get out of here and let the bottom of the barrel guys kind of uh battle out for those last SPS yeah I I think that's what's GNA happen I don't think they're going to keep them out there for very long and they do have some position battles going on that they need to sort out so yeah for sure I'm uh 49ers For Fantasy Football I'm actually really excited to see some of those position battles work out you know the Special Teams kind of guys there back in linebacker I want to see who that fourth fifth Edge guy is going to be um things like that so last question I got for you before we close this thing out uh I we both play Fantasy Football we're a couple leagues together I write for RPO football and R fantasy pros so you kind of want to lay on us a couple offensive guys that you have this year for Fantasy Football um this year yeah um Christian ma Caffrey of course okay yeah 101 of everything do you think you think aay you think it'd be wise to take aay earlier I've seen him slide you know we probably both have a little bit from going from like a second a third round pick to being like a fourth to like sixth round pick I think was probably his highest you think that ADP kind of slides back down a little bit it might um I'm still comfortable taking him somewhat High because I know his talent and he'll slot right in no for sure third round I think if you can get him in the third fourth round that's kind of the money there um I think obviously BOS on defense Leonard Floyd I think is going to be a killer for some rosters if you play IDP the defensive positioning defense um Fred Warner as always if you are in true position quarterbacks your various Ward and then kind of not really break out I guess he kind of broke out last year but full-time starter breakout Jer Brown uh G I think he's gonna be on for a good year this year and if you can get huanga late in your draft I think that's going to be good as well um for Fantasy George KD he kind of sporadic it's like you know five catches three touchdowns one catch one touchdown you think he is still a top five tight end I think he is definitely going into you know P's been around a couple years so I think that connection will get better yeah for sure all right last question for you who would you rather have as your wide receiver too in fantasy football Brandon auk or Deo I'm gonna go with I yeah I think Samuel will have H more upside weeks right because but I think the Niners are so thick at running back I don't think he does a lot there I think he's just going to be more of the traditional secondary guy um I think he'll still get the target load I think the ners still had four guys over 100 targets last year uh CMC KD and the two wide receivers we spoke about Debo Samuel and BR auk so he'll still be there but I think auk has more of the uh touchdown upside if he is back on the field so Debo is probably more boom bust where I should be more consistent like he said yeah I think in a best ball formats where the algorithm picture guys for you I think I would rather go with the Deo Samuel if I didn't have to pick but if I did have to pick and I got a set of guy every week I'd rather just put auk down and kind of forget about him not like forget about him but forget abouty replace him because I already know he's a walk all right man you got anything else for us today before we close this out I think we pretty much covered it all right well hopefully I mean I know it's just preseason but you still would love to see the Niners beat the Raiders right like that's one of the biggest Rivals I knew of the ners growing up just God you gotta beat the Raiders man what do you think oh yeah you think they can do it Outro yeah I think they can yeah H Gardner muu starting for them did you see that or did you have a no conell I had a on colal personally but yeah I think um he's definitely a really good game manager so be nice to see I know he's definitely probably going to be out there for at least a half so some of those guys are going to get a good look um as far
