NCAAF LIVE🔴 Western Michigan Broncos vs Wisconsin Badgers | Week 1 - Full Game College Football 25

[Applause] and the Badgers will kick it away to start us off on the run from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the Broncos offense takes the field for the first time today and as this star running back comes on to the field everybody in the stadium knows he's going to get it the defense knows it doing something about it is quite a different thing it's hard to stop him he's hard to handle because he can do it in so many ways he can run by you he can run through you he really has the whole package and that's why he's a superstar and that's why they'll feed him early and often well it's a nice job by the tight end there he's patient he fights his way through all the traffic in the middle of the field running that drag route making it an easy completion for the quarterback Crow full throat splitting the E drums and letting him know it's going to be a long day they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one that DB had a different story he had something to say coming up making a physical tackle Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down wants to throw it's wolf oh what a grab by the defense going the other way and he's got room touchdown Wisconsin the defense puts six on the board with a big time interception return You always want to come out and set the tone as a defense get a stop make a pun how about this get the int and take it back to the house way to set the tone for this defense they'll try to tack one more on their score and he's got the extra point and it's seven nothing to start this one they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it here he comes from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the Western Michigan offense ready to go back to work well the good news is they threw a touchdown pass last time it was just to the wrong team Jesse well that's an unfortunate part of the game for quarterbacks but guess what they do happen so you've got to be able to turn the page here and Lead this offense well I think you know this defense is going to be aggressive they're going to jump routes they're going to play aggressive you got to take advantage of that maybe used that this time to your advantage they've got them deep in their own end and this crowd trying to help keep them there to the ground with the back nudges ahead for one out to the 16 this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long dropping back it's wol throwing right a strike downfield a huge play and they get it all the way to the 45 yd line I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly the Broncos come to the line with a fresh set of downs they'll try the Run able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent that defense physically meet the challenge after the three yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven looking for space it's Buckley he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and you hear about run blitzes this is exactly what a run blitz is when you know the ball's coming up the middle you want to bring those linebackers get him closer to the line of scrimmage and fire right when the ball sna he's coming downhill doing a good J in the loss that linebacker really knew what was going on on Third and long try to convert through the air all kinds of room to throw that one in there and this offense is feeling it as they rip off a big chunk of yardage and they've got it on the 22 hard work pays off Guys these offenses work so hard week in week out working on down in distances third down so having that conversion this early in the game that's got to feel good for this offense quick strike complete tackled immediately after the catch a defense man it helps you a lot when you can be a linebacker or a corner or some safety anybody and you see the QB throw the football now I can break on the football right away and limit gains like right here on this play and the Broncos are threatening in the red zone the give out of the gun pushing ahead a tough run picks up for it's down at the 15 I think you run that play so you stay out of third and long third and long is not where an offense ever wants to thrive third medium hey I'm good with that so you run that play to make sure you're set up for a good third down this CR rising up sensing that it defense needs some help on Third and short the power run here touchdown Broncos he ran through tackles like water through a SI and step number one when you want a great running back someone who runs angry and continues to break tackle after tackle this guy was unbelievable on that rush I don't know David if this defense was ready for this guy they got to do a better job as the game goes on getting more hats to the football because it's obvious now it's not going to be just one guy brings him down they've got to get extra hats to the football to stop this rushing attack ready to try the point [Applause] after smashes it through for the pat so an 82 yd drive there and they finished it with a beautiful 15yd Run for the score after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again here's the return from inside is 10 he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Badgers offense will take the field for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team in general games go how these guys play if they make plays and they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down the give to the back running hard and getting six y out to the 26 I know that wasn't a big huge play and everybody's not excited the fans aren't going crazy but those are the plays that in the fourth quarter matter a lot again making you tackle my back making you feel the physicality of the football game throughout so you get tired and get worn down in the fourth quarter on the move it's van Dy can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down defense did a great job third and short on the opponent side of the field they're expecting quick throw everybody they dug their heel on the ground they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion the Badgers will punt it away on fourth down let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one catches it at the 30 oh what a move that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the punt guys we're about to get another look at this Western Michigan offense hand off to the single back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the most insightful analysis I can come up with on that one is that didn't work back to the drawing board to see if there's something that works a little better soon or if I can quote the great Reese Davis that was very UNG good not a productive first down play didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 the give to the back and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground I know that's not a huge game but those run plays add up they make you tackle the back sing you to get guy on the ground through quarter better find the earplugs here comes the noise backing this defense on third down he's going up top he's got it inside the 15 he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the eight yeah and the quarterback knew exactly where he wanted to go the football had time spins the ball deep nice job by this offense understanding what the defense is giving him and creating the explosive play and that big Gainer on the last one has them threatening from inside the T keeping it on the ground on first and goal knocked down after a gain of one they'll mark it at the six second and goal coming up motion from the offense receiver on the Move gets the touch pass and they're able to get him down well I love the aggressive nature of the defense on that play everybody playing with eye discipline they saw the pre-nap motion they knew who had the football and you saw guys play with excellent Instinct running down hill and making a tackle so loud it's rattling your fillings on Third and goal looking for a man it's wolf pressure coming looking to the end zone and he'll sail it way too far for everybody really nice third down sub defense there that time it's third and long they're expecting pass and they're mixing up their looks they're trying to change the picture pre- snap to post Snap to confuse the quarterback now forcing the incompletion setting up for they'll try to cap off this drive with a field goal he'll boot it from the left side and from this distance that angle ought to be fairly easy and it's no good he missed it and here in the first quarter we remain tied and that's just the Chip Shot that's just a field goal they got to make guys the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jess he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum eight- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short out of the gun to give to the back and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down you got to have short area quickness that running back there doing what it takes to make sure he got that first down when they first down they'll snap it from the 32 he's looking to throw it trying to beat the D deep and the ball is caught he's inside the 35 touchdown Badger reeled it in and just made the house call well as a defense you know you're going to see the go round especially against this guy he does it to defenses it seems every single week and so they're not able to get back deep enough and get run by he makes the catch and then runs it into the end zone they're going to have to change up their cover to get some safety help up over the top because this guy's speed is a problem on to attempt the [Applause] try and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they finish things off with a B way 68 yds on the touchdown pass kickoff team has the ball teed up and they're about ready to go he'll bring it back from inside his five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Western Michigan has it back as they send the offense onto the field here's the hand off he'll be stopped just short of the 20 at the 19 give him one and that's what you're trying to do as a defense limit those damages when they run the get him on the ground short gains to set your defense for positive situations down the road didn't get much on first down it's second and nine off the play fake going to take a shot and they wanted it all on that incomplete pass instead they're looking at third down there's an example of what happens when the quarterback doesn't have a chance to set hiset the Press just forced him to have to work off schedule a little bit I think because of that wasn't able to be as accurate as he wanted to be Deb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down looking to throw it's Wolfe throws to the Wi out got his Man Down field and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play this dude is just exceptional in every facet so fluid such a great route Runner and a big play there and money down third down find him I mean you want to find that matchup because he's going to win and gets a good release gets down the field you see his that's your playmaker that's your guy get it to him get the first down the RPO fire complete to the left excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down that was a really nice catch and an even better run after the grab yeah and get the ball to your play what's good about having him in the slot is he can go either direction you can get him matched up on somebody that's not as fast and you watch he can run away from those linebackers or safeties from the shotgun they'll run it we've seen a ton of this tonight they just keep giving him the ball and he keeps running into brick walls not much running room again defense is about firing off hitting the offensive guys and staying in your gaps everybody knowing where they're supposed to be you can tell the defense everyone is right where they're supposed to be nowhere to run looking to throw on second down he's got it man and just a short safe pass play they pick up a fear well the drag routes put in this Playbook to fight against manto man coverage so there you see the receiver using his speed working his way across the field he gets Separation on the DB trying to Trail them makes the catch turns it up field for the first they've got to get the football to the 32 pick up the first down on Third and long he has to throw for it caught near the sticks it's Buckley and the defense able to drag him down but not before they'll recycle that down marker and had they not picked up that first down it would have been decision time for the head coach right you're kind of in no man's land on the fridge are you trying a long field goal are you going for it on fourth down but because of the execution there in the nice throw let's keep this drive going let's see if we can get six got it inside the 30 before he's finally pulled down at the 25 it's a gain of six yeah this coaching staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting them drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage sixy pickup on first down leaves him with second and four out of the gun the running back has it stop is made but he picks up four y down to the 21 yd line as an offense having success on a run play like that early in the game just opens up all the possibilities of your playbook moving forward play action running the ball throwing the ball screens anything is at your disposal at this point bully ball on Third and short how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions and they'll send the field goal team back out for the second time tonight that thing would have hit a string in the middle of the upright perfect they were able to get a field goal on the board and now they'll kick it [Applause] away on the move from inside his SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 and Wisconsin has it off back on the field out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back and he broke one tackle on the way to a solid pick up there this running back just doesn't go down easy it's just difficult for defenses to get him on the ground not overly huge but if I'm an offensive coordinator I'm going to continue to find ways to feature him and just you know what let his talent do the rest that kind of pick up on first down and you can take a shot here on second and short fires to the big fell dragged down to the turf but not before getting the first down love the way he didn't just run to a spot he found the cushion in the zone and got himself open for the first down yeah and you're taught to find that space you know don't run right with a Zone Defender who's sitting there looking at the quarterback and looking at you so much creativity with routes now of being able to just have subtle moves One Way come back the other way nice job by the tight end finding that hole in the zone solid fundamentals on that tack from this freshman I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs after picking up a couple it's second and eight back to pass it's van djk looking down the middle finds a tight end down the gut what a play to get it inside the Red Zone and they are set up at the nice confidence by the QB good throw over the middle of the field nice little strike down the field for a big play listen you got to throw it where it's open and he found a slot found a little hole in the middle of the field nice job attacking and the Badgers are moving quickly down the field wide out in motion the Jet Sweep pass and they'll stop him just short of the first down just inches away from moving the sticks as we come to the end of the period Wisconsin has the lead guys let's have a look at the stats as we've played one period lots of time left and we're ready to get back to it and open the second period going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone they'll go to the ground and he'll Glide his way in for the score touchdown Wisconsin and this running back is so dangerous down close to the end zone he's got wiggle got great vision and burst and showed all of those attributes right there they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so that scoring Drive took only six plays and it was capped off with the 8yd Run lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown [Applause] drive and he takes this from inside the five he only needs a of daylight got a little room wide open and it's a foot race he won't get him it's a touchdown he is a field flipping machine take it on one end return it to the other and now you get to celebrate what a beautiful job we always talk about defense we always talk about offense but man when your special teams come through for you and score it is huge and it provides such a boost for the crowd ling up to add another and the P will draw them one point closer those opportunities those returns like that can be such game changers and everyone was right on point and he took it to the house they're just about to boot it away full of energy after housing that last kickoff he'll start the return inside his spot he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit give to the back after the pick up of nine it's second and one and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his PS after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one power football with the Run he breaks a tackle and he'll move his way forward to the first down they'll mark it at the 35 as much a part of Wisconsin as cheese and BRS feed that running back for first down it's crazy Reese they don't find the most highly recruited guys but they find tail backs are dudes and Ron Daye to Jonathan Taylor to whoever it is they always find a bcal running back at the University of Wisconsin can't hold on he had him right down the middle and he flat dropped it and here comes the offense on second down they'll throw again after the incompletion this time it's complete he's really close to that first down marker but they stop him just a bit short well it's a nice job by the defender they're closing the Gap with the wide receiver they're going to complete the hitch pass but he's able to run right up on him get him to the ground for a minimal game as they come to the line on Third and short from the 43 I wonder if they already know they'll go for it if they don't make it here trying play action unloads to the wide out he's got it finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down and he had to go a long way to reel that ball when he started off way on the right cross the entire defense made the catch on the other side of the field there's an example of how this offense can really attack every corner of the football field run the gun the running back has it they'll give him one to the 28 yd line all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point didn't get much on first down it's second and nine looking to pass it's van D zings it complete to the right and there were no creases or crevices to run through and they shove him out of bounds this is no surprise to defenses anymore everybody throws wide receiver screens and you could tell they were ready for it they saw the quick game they pounced on it got the wide receiver on the ground that's not the first time they've seen that route they're close enough for a makeable field goal from the 26 but they'd love to convert this third and long fires to the wide out got him down field and tight coverage right there but he makes the grab and they've got it on the 11 and a red zone chance oh man did he turn that one loose and fired it into the teeth of the zone and you know as a quarterback re when you're throwing it to the perimeter of the field on these curl routes you've got to have some heat you've got to have arm talent to get that ball out quickly into the hands of your receiver before all those Defenders can get to it man this QB's got a C they get it down to the seven on that pass play in position for a score and listen I know that wasn't a huge gain it was positive but I like doing more of that in today's college football I'm just going to try to give my Playmakers a chance to do damage in space away from all the big boys inside the give to the tail back touchdown Badger he would not be denied and the offense continues to run the football the second rushing touchdown from the running back the offensive line Paving holes continue to feed this man the ball lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is good and they have an 11-point lead so a drive there of 82 yds and he found his way to the end zone from the seven to C it about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Applause] touchdown on the run for inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Western Michigan offense ready to go back to work they try to pop a run on the draw picks his way ahead pick up of three and gets it to the 20 yd line the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long you saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical got three on first down it's second and seven to the air it's wol unloads it left he's got an open man that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the Stop and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive game I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times today the 44 yd line the offense snaps it on first down from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there they're strong and they're strong defensive tackles they're strong there're such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder you tend to go to the ground pretty quickly tackled almost immediately they're well short of the first down I love this defense's ability to fight off blocks and rally to the football they do such a great job pursuing that wide receiver screen to only allow a minimal gain and no first down here comes this home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down from the gun wants to pass got his man quickly they didn't quite get that route run deep enough to pick up the first down now they've got a fourth and short and I think everybody at home tends to yell at their television set why aren't you getting past the first down Market why did you run your route short defense did a good job knowing where that was but now fourth down offense has to make a decision fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he'll call for the fair catch here and Wisconsin has it back on the field they Unleashed an aerial assault last time that took him right to the end zone David So ree with that drive I think you've accomplished something you wanted to accomplish make this defense think you put them back on their heels now shoot pmer you might be able to slip a few runs in on this drive to really Jack them up yeah I like that idea but I also like the fact that speed kills they've got it at the receiver position so if you got one-on-one match ups man take advantage first down for this offense looking to move it through the air wide open down field and they pick up of better than 30 yard on that completion before the defense brings him down and after that pitch and catch he's already over 200 yard and we're in the first half Jesse man Reese he's dialed in right now he's really doing a nice job seeing the field reading coverages and finding his open gu the Badgers want to crank the [Applause] tempo looking to throw it's van Dy and that pass is intercepted taking it the other way the 40 just keeps moving he's at the 10 and he will roll into the end zone touchdown Broncos what about the speed from that defender on the return he's showing you Reese like listen it's not just wide receivers that can do that I can take this thing to the house I got some moves watch this unbelievable job flipping the field offense about to score defense makes the huge plays and gets points out of it getting set for the point after and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get closer they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit this possession will be a test after squandering that long drive throwing a pick six Jesse you're right reys well I think this is really dependent too on the leaders in this huddle right now to step up and help this offense get back on Pace here on this drive yeah and this defense is froed at them out they're excited they're jacked up they just made a big play they got all the momentum so they're ready to hunt now on first down from the 28 he wants to throw makes his connection and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success still some work to do after that last completion it's second down throws to the wide out a strike down field defense caught out of position and they get him down finally at the 38 nice read and nice throw and I know Wisconsin quarterbacks always get the unfair moniker that they're game managers and it's because they've always been a great rushing offense just got to complete a couple throws and keep the offense on schedule but when you think about the offenses where they've had a Difference Maker a guy like Russell Wilson that were able to throw on first down take shots just make them so much more explosive I think this guy has some of those to got the first down and more and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pick up before the defense put a stop to it that's a good looking run there and if you're going to be rb1 for Wisconsin you're going to be pretty talented because you think of the guys they've had in this backfield in recent years the high school Trophy winner Ron day Monty ball how about Jonathan Taylor that's getting it done now on Sundays this guy's got power he's got speed he's got shiftiness he's got all the head it to the end zone touchdown Wisconsin and they take it in for six more points man oh man what a day his third touchdown rushing showing you he's got a little bit of everything and had no stats and all you fantasy football guys you have my man at running back it's a good day they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further a very efficient five play scoring drive and it was capped with an explosive 22 yd run almost ready to kick it away scoring the [Applause] touchdown bringing it back didn't find any increase in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys we're about to get another look at this Western Michigan offense David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the punter this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense they really got things moving on this drive second play of the drive comes from the [Applause] 37 pulls and fires it complete to the right stopped after making the catch well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a r picked up some yardage on the ground now here comes second down he'll do it himself can't get him to the ground he makes the stop at the 48 that'll be enough for a first down and a pick up of 10 such an advantage when you have an athletic quarterback today colle football because they can help you move the sticks with their legs great open field running ability by this QB the Broncos have it with a first and 10 fast motion from the offense looking down field it's wolf got his man and how about the efficiency on that one it'll bring up second and four it's so nice as a quarterback when you've got a guy like that working for you in the slot such a good feel to find the Open Spaces in the defense just makes life so much easier for his quarterback little bit more to go after that last completion they'll try to pick it up on second down he's looking to throw quickly complete he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short well this tight end he's got size and he's got some athleticism he's very difficult to cover one onone defense is going to have their hands full with him today better find the ear plugs here comes the noise backing this defense on third down to the ground to try to pick up the first and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage well the defense got the stop there on Third and one let's see if they can do it again here on Fourth and inches there I just got to find a way to fall forward be physical we work on this all week you know you're going for fourth down less than a yard to go for a first down and the offense will remain on the field on fourth down trying to find his man and it's incomplete and the defense holds a first down for the offense that is just a play you have got to be able to come up with they don't get bigger than that fourth down you've got to make the catch whether it's a perfect throw or whether it's off of your body you're good enough and you're athletic enough to haul that play and you've got to make the play for your quarterback and your offense to keep that drive alive and he's not able to come up with it second down after that incompletion now they'll run the draw and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down effective draw plays in the running game really begin with the quarterback the quarterback's got to be a great sail you got to really make the defense it's to keep your eyes focused down field till the last possible second turnaround and hand it off and by that point the defensive ends have rushed way up field and there's less bodies for the running backs to have to maneuver around before finally moving forward he's right there to stop him but the quick throw and catch enough to give them the first down I love the idea and I love just finding ways to get your best players out in the open field this pre-nap motion and using it to their advantage on that last play I think that was a nice call they've got it first and 10 at the 50 leaves it with the back one step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning as we reach the minute warning they'll need to try to get a stop to keep this thing from getting out of hand they'll line up for a second down play to the air it's van Dy he's right on target didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few I really like this slot receiver because of his shiftiness and you see that on his route run really really nice job creating separation for his QB need the 40 to convert here on third down from the gun wants to pass grabbed in the middle it's green that'll be enough for the first down as they mark it down at the 31 yd line this quarterback obviously did a lot of film prep coming into this one he has been picking this defense apart with that last completion guys he's now got over 300 yd passing offense picking up steam first and 10 from the 31 use the play fake now to throw finds his man it's Paulie and they're able to force him out of bounds after a short pick up you see it more and more smaller wide receivers I don't care about their size anymore I put them in the slot I let them get a good match up they're so quick people can't get their hands on them they make plays and I feed them to football these are guys that have a lot of catches throughout a season on second down want to throw going for it all and makes the grab in the end zone touchdown Badger this offense is really dangerous because of the weapons they have on the perimeter of the field and you're seeing they go to these guys early and they try to give them opportunities in one-on-one situations and vertically down the field two passing touchdowns now early for this offense now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point they're on top by 18 that drive covers 62 yds for the touchdown and they finished the deal with a 26 yd touchdown pass the kickoff team takes the field to boot this one [Applause] away and he's going to bring it out of the end zone I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 they'll crank up this drive with the pass how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion there's got to be a sense of urgency for this offense right now they're trailing they're going to be kicking off to open the second half so they need points they need to go Tempo maybe that last first down gets them a little bit of confidence they'll snap this one from the 30 on First and 10 back to pass it's wolf using the quick game they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker yeah you throw a little hitch route nice job getting the ball out of his hands quickly wide receiver quarterback nice job being on the same page nice completion nice catch and the Broncos in the hurry up he's back to throw on second down they're working that left side and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep them from getting the first down you complete some of these hitch throws early you're setting up the hitch and go later on you can pump fake that and then the receiver can pette right up the sideline that might be a home run play for the offense the Broncos will snap it on First and 10 he's going to pass finds his big tight end tackle was made but not until he gets the first down that's a nice play on offense there and how about the tight end getting out of his stance and working his way across the field using his speed to clear the defense and make the catch they'll snap it from the 47 on first down he's looking to throw it unloads to the wide out the pass is incomplete and there are two ticks remaining on the clock you know sometimes wide receivers are so eager to get up field once they have the ball they take their eyes away you really got to do a good job looking it in and securing the catch just enough time for one final play in this half right back up top on second and 10 he's got it they finally make the stop that's going to make those halftime stats look a little bit nicer as we head to the break that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update phy yman work so far in Madison and welcome in to the halime update and what we've witnessed is a rarity these days in our sport these defenses are taking matters into their own hands putting points on the scoreboard and effectively controlling The Narrative of this game points off turnovers are kind of found money for teams but at some point these offenses are going to have to make some adjustments and carry their share of the load and with that let's head back to a great scene there in Camp Randall and the Broncos will kick it away first and we'll start the second [Applause] half from inside the 10 here he comes nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 and Wisconsin has its offense back on the field they'll open this third quarter with a run maybe picked up a couple he's down at the 24 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down wide receiver shows motion quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep really nice stop there from this senior leader they're going to keep this drive going they'll have to make a play on Third and long from the 26 back to throw it's van djk he finds his and he surges up to the 36 yd line and they'll move the chain and Jesse he just keeps piling up numbers over 350 yard for the game and I feel like from the getg go race this guy's just been in a great Rhythm all game long he just seems like he's dialed in and man he's been accurate throwing the rock the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D they'll leave it with him discards man you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this after the productive first down play it's second and six he's looking to throw he's taking the shot he's got it downfield for a huge game and they'll do more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 ydd down the field before he's finally stopped and the Badgers are marching down the field they go to the ground a seven yd pickup it'll be second and three listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three he's got it again really nice nice run there good solid pick up and they'll move the sticks with a first down in halime in this locker room there's a lot of positive things to talk about you got the lead but you know what else will be positive Palmer get the running game going early in this second half you're absolutely right here and I think this coaching staff is going to try to put this game on the offensive line a little bit let these guys take this thing over be physical and push this defense around with the run on first and goal knocked down after a gain of one they mark it at the six defense trying to come up with a stop on second and goal gets it out fast they've got it down to the three yd line really well done on that throwing catch I don't know who on Def is going to cover this guy honestly he could be a problem for this defense over the middle of the field in the passing game they keep pushing forward down to the three but now it's third and goal the give touchdown Wisconsin and The Stomping has commenced have yourself a day Young fella you know why they handed him the ball a lot because he did that that's his fourth trip to P this dude has shown you a little bit of everything what a great back and four touchdowns on the day he'll try to tack on one more the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead they marched 79 yds on the drive and close the deal with a three- yd touchdown run the kickoff team out there and ready to [Applause] go he'll bring it back from inside to five slips through the line he's got an alley there he goes open it up take it to the house touchdown Western Michigan I'll tell you you're lucky if you're watching a college football game and you see one return for a touchdown that's now his second of the game this guy is absolutely lethal he shown you his open field running ability he's shown you his speed I'll be shocked if anybody kicks his way the rest of this game and the rest of the season lining up for the pat and it's perfect that's the kind of play that energizes the entire team 96 yards he took it back for the touchdown they're lining up to kick it Off full of momentum after housing that last kickoff on the move from inside is five smashes ahead not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 the give to the back got the first down and more and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain he's over50 yard rushing having a Melvin Gordon kind of day just to feature this guy give him the rock he kind of gets stronger the more Carri as you give him and you can tell he ain't done yet looking for a man it's van Dy fires to the middle it's caught down field and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one that's a good looking throw and I know when we talk Wisconsin offense we're always talking about running backs but they've seen their fair share of QBs too Darren Beville back in my day Scott toline had some success and then of course Russell Wilson also this guy right now in this game he needs to get himself into a rhythm and if he gets there he's dangerous leaves it with the running back what a good run there he has enough for the first down and David how demoralizing does it have to be for a defense when you know they're going to run it everyone in the stadium knows they're going to run it and still you cannot stop there's nothing more demoralizing as a defensive lineman because it just it ticks you off it gets in your head you you know that guy's going to come off and smack you and you got to do something about it I think the defense may be time to start committing more guys to stopping run not worrying about the pass as much you know it's so important for offense is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six they'll Run play action looking left and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit well the quarterback knew he wanted to go his tight end on that play he's a big physical Target but it was the hit on the play that forced the incompletion they're close enough for a makeable field goal from the 26 but they'd love to convert this third in long he's looking to throw right down the middle all kinds of room to throw that one in there touchdown Badger and the beat down has ensued the offense flexes its muscle a bit and widens the Gap take a little exhale you know you did your job you got points now you put your defense in position where hey go out and get another stop we're in great shape so the offense definitely taking care of their business lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they finish the deal with a 26 yd touchdown pass they're just about ready to kick it away bringing it out was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Western Michigan has it back as they send the offense onto the field PS is fired complete good job reading the defense by the quarterback on that RPO Fe he waited to see how the defense was going to play the Run he saw Defenders bite up close to the line of scrimmage and right away he knew he had the slant throw right in behind him offense gets set for second down scanning the field it's wolf and the ball is intercepted couldn't find much room on the return but what a costly misc and they've got it at the 26y line the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page nyd pickup on first down and now they can take a shot on second and short they'll keep it on the ground tackle is made after the first down you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack dominated at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first down now down to the 12 yd line it's first down going to run it it's maloi Mark it off as a 6yd gain down to the 6yd line I know the passing game sells and the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards of pop on the ground but it will be very successful going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down give to the running back he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two and you know when we talk about great third down defenses it really starts with them getting stops on first and second down you've got to get those stops early in the drives to set up third and long so that's a missed opportunity on that second down by this defense on short the run and looking for the first down touchdown Wisconsin and the route is on a quick strike just as we expected yeah quick strikes are easy when you got such great field position obviously when the offense starts in such a good spot puts the defense in a bad position and the offense takes advantage they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point the lead is even bigger a very efficient five-way scoring drive and finish the deal with the short touchdown run from the two the kickoff team on the field as they'll send this one away and he takes this from inside the five and he'll be brought down after a solid effort on that return Western Michigan offense ready to go back to work after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that's a part of it right if you're going to be a great player you got to learn how to handle these mistakes and move on after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven here's a quick throw out to the left and he's down at the 41 that's a first down well we see another catch by this guy and this defense is going to need to do a better job of tackling the catch in coverage I know they want to slap the ball away but if you can't do it and force the incompletion you've got to at least make sure you're able to drag him down to the ground as soon as he catches the ball the offense lines up at the 41 with a first and 10 quick release by the QB he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down and he just continues to put up numbers and that number is now over 300 this guy just throws completions man the ball doesn't seem to touch the ground he's back there he's making the right read right now he is locked into what this defense is trying to do off play action on first downs it in and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down and that play fake created just a split second to let the tight end get down field did you see how that play fake just froze the second level of the defense just for a split second R and that allowed the tight end to get vertical the Broncos have it with a first and 10 the aerial assault continues and the pressure was in his grill in an eyelash well the offense trying to stay aggressive right you just came up with a huge play and right away you go back to another pass you got to do a better job protecting your quarterback can't give up a sack there after the big first down sack it's second down back to throw it's wolf got his man on the right they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down and a really nice job by the wide receiver you run a drag route f space they're in zone coverage they're not covering manto man find a little hole look at that QB page you could tell they were that's why they got the first down third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doy if they can pull it off got his Man Down field got some room headed to the goal line touchdown Western Michigan made the snag and stroll his way into the end zone I love this tight end because Manny's a weapon in the passing game big guy big Target and he has a lot of ability after the catch you saw it on that touchdown Pat unit on the field bangs it through for an extra point he marked 78 yd down the field and they top it off with a 31 yd toss for six about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll start the return inside his five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 and Wisconsin has its offense back on the field P it finds his man on the left and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few kept it on the ground on first down see if they stick with that plan on second from the gun the running back back looking for room on the move at the 30 all kinds of Running Room and there they go again another huge gain on the ground and I tell you what we can focus on the left side a line of scrimmage cuz that's the that's where the play starts but you don't get big gains when you run out wide unless wide receivers yes wide receivers commit to blocking staying on their guys really good job on the outside by giving the running back space to make the big play they used the chunk play across Midfield and they've got it first and 10 just outside the 40 leaves it with the back and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine stuck with a running game on first down now here they come again they'll go right back to the run and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a home run so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the table here on third down to the air it's van Dy just a short pass to the tight end and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up this guy's having a game that feels like half a season for some he's over 450 yards and he is so dialed in with his offensive coordinator and play caller with what they want to do and how they want to attack this defense it seems like every single snap he's read the coverage he knows exactly where to go with the ball the Badgers have their offense in high gear they'll throw it from the Red Zone that's caught it's paing and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land the defense has their hands full trying to stop this guy in the slot they're going to have to figure something out to bracket him try and get two bodies around and maybe get some safety help as well because right now they do not have the answer for this guy they move the tight end all over running back searching for a hole he stopped again they went right back to him and he still found no Running Room at all nice play by the defense but now is a time they've got to be more consistent they allowed this running back to go off in that first half and moving forward now they've got to try and take this running back away on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it touchdown Badger and the Ping has started he is putting the Badgers on his back reminds me of games we call when Russell Wilson was at the hell and I know Wisconsin fans jacked up when they get great quarterback play they they they don't get it very often they don't get the explosive numbers with this offense but this dude he's putting on a show and I guarantee you they are jumping around they'll try to attack one more on their score and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further they go 83 yd on the drive and they close the deal with a 16 yd throw for the touchdown the kickoff team out there set to boot it [Applause] away on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys we're about to get another look at this Western Michigan offense last time they had it they took it down the field for a touchdown they can build some confidence that they could go backto back scoring drives here yeah and remember it's not uncommon for offenses to find themselves as the game goes on they had some things not go their way early but they found something last Drive David let's see if they can build on that yeah you you you just pick and pick and pick until you find that place where you're like okay this is an advantage I have they've clearly found that dude they score here we're in for a ball game looking for for space it's Buckley get some work done there pick up of four to the 22 offense breaks the Huddle on third down and you want to talk about his favorite receiver it might might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches and a chance to show off their hands in the passing game so will the beat down continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the fourth to the air it's wolf gets it out quickly and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression trying to find his man on first down excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage and now on second down for this offense he's looking to throw he's got him this time and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play you know the defense doesn't have an answer for this slot guy right now they may want to think about bracketing him having a Defender to the outside and to the inside probably some sort of Zone coverage where you're trying to get two bodies forcing the quarterback to have to go somewhere else with the ball shotgun snap on third down with the catch it's Buckley and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving that one's sort of like a shooter in basketball just needing to see one go through the net isn't it David just just get a completion to your guy and pick up some yardage build some confidence cuz your confidence throwing the ball over the middle of the field and in tight Windows probably not in an alltime high but check it down make something positive happen the running back does his job so maybe this maybe this Sparks a little something something in the quarterback's head where he can feel a little bit more confident and bounce back from these early mistakes we knew this quarterback had put up some monster numbers he is putting on a clinic in this game he now has over 400 yard passing and the Broncos will snap it on First and 10 looking to throw it again and he's picked off again his night vision hasn't been up to speed his third interception just a short return but that would have been icing on the cake they've got it first down at the 42 the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit on that last Drive defense had no idea what was happening run or passing it wound up in the end zone Jesse yeah you saw the experience in this offense that last drive too on that touchdown everybody on the same page these guys have repped these plays over and over in practice and in games and it's working D yeah so I got to find a way to disrupt it I I got to find a way to maybe be more aggressive maybe Blitz mess up this Rhythm they got going on the ground it's maloi pass the first down marker and still running and he's brought down after a nice game this guy's been special today coming into this one they thought they had an opportunity really to get him going running the football and he has delivered you've seen the speed the vision his ability to break tackles well over 100 rushing yards in this game and why they have a nice lead here late they'll give it to the back and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that you got to have that defense you know you can go to in running situations your base defense where you say okay this is where I'm going to start and I'm going to stop the run stuff it up front my guys play Big up front then if I need to add some blitzes to it later on down the road I can but great job in the base defense making a play quarterback on the keeper they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I just love the individual one-onone effort by the defense there offense trying to go option QB keeps it but just too many Defenders winning their one-on-one battles defeating blocks and getting the tackle for lock they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here from the gun the ground game and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down and the Badgers will call on their punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and that is just a spectacular Punt and he will pin them in the shadow of their own goal post inside the five out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a crease tough run across the five he'll get it all the way out to the eight yd line and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot after the productive first down play it's second and six back to throw it's wolf got his man in the middle he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short well they execute the end route and how about the arm strength by the QB that was an absolute bullet on that completion third and short they've got them back up inside the 20 and the D can get the ball back here looking to throw for it quick strike complete he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing catch well the defense just has not had an answer for this guy working out of the slot so far man coverage has been tricky he's beaten them in zone you might want to think about bracketing him where you've got a defender on the outside and the inside to see if you can force the quarterback to go somewhere else with the ball wants to throw on first down got him downfield that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they get it out to the 36 well that receiver he knew he had to get his head turned around quickly he's running the Cur route against Zone coverage but he knows his quarterback is going to be firing that ball into him it's a rocket pass he's able to make the catch and get the first they'll throw it on first down fires to the wide out tremendous awareness along the sideline and the ability to get the foot down for the big pickup and thank goodness for those new age throwing techniques it takes wear and tear off your arm because it ought to be tired by now over 450 this guy can throw from all the different arm slots and arm angles he wants Reese but the end result is always the same completions and touchdowns this dude's a machine man it's so important when you play QB I got to know when to put some air on it and I got to know when to rocket that thing in there work in the middle of the field he knew he needed it threw it in there great job great catch that last completion sets him up on second Down On The Run it's wolf and man oh man he is in the dart tonight his fourth interception never had a chance to get rolling after the pick but he gives him the ball in Prime field position at the 40 and Wisconsin has its offense back on the field they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one David to me that starts with being the more physical team oh I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the football back now put a nice drive together and execute the offense sets up chop at the 46 on first down they'll ride the hot hand not a whole lot of room there three yard maybe second and seven it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down got three on first down it's second and seven using his legs it's maloi running with power he's out of bounds but not before picking up enough for the first down man this offense would really like to lean on this guy in the fourth quarter right they've got the lead and you just saw his ability there breaking a tackle he looks like he's getting stronger as the game goes on I'd expect him to get a few more carries here before this game's over movement here from the tight end they'll run it from the gun ball is loose the offense somehow fell on it and they'll retain possession and let's hold on just a minute here as the officials are going to have a second look so the officials take a closer look and the replay Booth will overturn the call got the first down looking for more they're able to keep him out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the two after the big play in the passing game man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out the Badgers have it with a first and goal he'll keep it himself he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of P well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism you'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward and here's a fumble way behind the line oh looks as if the defense got it you know as quarterbacks you've got to be good in the pocket even when things are collapsing and you've got guys swiping at it you got to have two hands on the football didn't do a really good job with ball security there and that led to the fumble Western Michigan has it back as they send the offense onto the field that last Drive was promising for a while but you just can't mess it up at the end with the pick Jesse no you got to be able to finish drives especially in this game if you're going to win in David they've got to be able to eliminate the metal mistakes yeah and I don't think you get conservative or play it safe you can trust your guy I think you put the ball right back in his hands and let him do his thing it's first and 10 from the 31 looking to move it through the air he makes the connection he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down looking at a second and short now to throw it's wolf he unleashes a long one it's complete a huge pickup touchdown Western Michigan and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house yeah nice pitch nice catch and listen maybe this helps next game right like wey trying to find a rhythm find something that works find somebody to go to and this offense is struggl you're down by a thousand but I like that they continue to fight ready to try the point after right down the boulevard quick strike offense on that three play scoring drive and they finish with a 62 yd pass for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive here he comes from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit that last fumble proved to be costly as they cashed it in for a touchdown yeah and so this defense now is Juiced they're excited and ready to go so this offense David they've got to get something going yeah those turnovers can be contagious man it get you excited and then when your offense takes it down the field and does something with it this offense better be ready to play against a motivated defense they move the chains on the ground now another first down they'll keep it on the ground they want this clock to move good solid pick up on that one they got it out to the 40 and it's first down big reason why his team has the lead right now late is because of his performance running the football well over 100 yards in this game they knew that they were going to have to really put a lot of pressure on him he'd have to shoulder the load and he has delivered for his offense all game long to the ground he's got it again a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up getting them on the ground take away that run game make them onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense after picking up a couple it's second and eight little touch pass to the receiver they'll wrestle him down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this one and that play is essentially like a jet sweep right this offense is going to run the football conventionally they'll do it between the tackles they'll do it outside but there's a lot of different creative ways they can get their Playmakers the football in the running game and I think that was an example of what you saw right there in the dead center of the field as they try to convert this third short trying to pick it up on the ground he got a bunch and look close to getting a lot more but he's got the first down the clock is my friend if I can do this late in the ball game with a lead and I can continue to run the football and they have no answers well then I'm going to walk away with a win so listen I wouldn't change a thing I'd keep pounding the football keep running the clock might as well give it to him again and a good solid pick up before the defense Cuts him down and this is exactly where you're want to be as an offensive coordinator like when you've got the lead late in the football game just run the football eat the clock man they put a good day together they they they've had a they've had their way with this defense a lot of positive things to point to this is one of those weeks when you watch tape it's going to be really fun to watch it not like when you get beat up a lot of big plays from this offense try to get the edge with a quick touch pass he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense it's so hard for a defense to have to stop plays like that because it really forces you to play with great eye discipline you see the pre- snap motion defense doesn't know if he's just running across the field and he's going to run a route if he's going to block or if he has the football that time he was able to outflank the defense and hurt to get that first down and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down it's so important this offense is able to get this guy the ball in space especially in the perimeter of the field and I love that last play call because he's able to get outside and use his speed to me that's where this gu is is most dangerous and they probably don't need to risk running a play here but the head coach might want to rub it in just a little bit they'll run it on first and goal and he's able to shed one tackle but still just a very short gain for e
