right now where do we begin today it's a great question let's start at the beginning as they say let's see bet Saron has this as a seven and a half point game Arkansas is plus seven and a half so um they also have a interesting bet on here Hogs to win outright versus Oklahoma State Texas A&M and LSU at plus 3,000 I mean that's a lot of wins guess you'd have to have a lot of faith you'd have to really be buying in to what happened against uapb but we can kind of put a lot of the uapb stuff behind us and know that this game is going to tell us a lot more because what uapb told us is like hey if tlor greens gets if he gets time to throw he's going to probably make a good throw especially you know the way he played in the second quarter versus the first quarter he can't really have a slow start in this one you know you need to come out strong on the road uh so it told us a few things like that you know not a not procedure penalties not a lot of selfish penalties those types of things but what we don't know is if Arkansas can run the ball when they have to and put the game away if they can March down the field and score and win the game if the defense can hold strong and stop them from winning the game at the end because those are the problems that Arkansas had last year I mean I mean there's a lot of problems they had but uh when it came down to the end of the game like winning was Arkansas's problem like winning is what they have to get corrected and winning is done in the closing moments of a game and that's where Arkansas struggled that's why they went went one in five last year Oklahoma State conversely won a lot of their close games and that's one reason they won 10 so man guys like my heart wants to pick Arkansas to win this game but my mind's telling me just like let's wait and see let's wait and see what happens uh with this game and then maybe we can make some better predictions down the road it's just it's hard to pick them to go on the road and beat a ranked team when they've kind of struggled doing that and not that they haven't been competitive because they have it's just that they they haven't closed it out and that's that's what I'm anxious to see if the Bobby patrino Factor plays a big role there because we know that patrino does things at the end of games that you don't expect sometimes and ends up flipping the script on some teams we all remember the cowboy go get it play uh some of the the play that he ran against LSU with Joe Adams you know things like that that that he does that the opponent just is not expecting them to do that's what makes him a great play caller it's not his plays I mean I have his book it's got all his plays in it it's when he calls him that that makes the difference with that guy and how he teaches it is Andrew Armstrong going to be back for this one s pitman's been a little bit cryptic uh Andrew has also been a little bit cryptic but kind of in the other way he posted a image of him it's like a blue guy with a it's it's from Avatar according to Connor Goodson and it's basically like it means somebody is or this character is Awakening from a 100-year rest or is being reborn after a 100-year rest which would indicate that he's playing I think he's playing I think that he would have played week one I think he would have played week one if they had played Oklahoma State so um others that always have had issues um but that's the thing with me is does it work and yes it does always works for me at least that's my experience I've never had any outages so check out got out 479 684 4900 just taking a quick look at Arkansas um the offense versus Oklahoma State's defense Oklahoma State you know gave up quite a lot like people talk a lot about Oklahoma State this on offense or this uh you know what they're going to be able to do and I mean yes they return a lot of veterans they return a lot on the defensive side of the ball um on Conor Goodson's article no shortage of experience on Cowboys defense they returned 10 players who started a game in 27 lettermans from last year's defense this however is and a lot of Arkansas fans will say hey last year was last year last year was last year and they're right there's 55 new players on Arkansas's roster it's very different tale between these two teams Arkansas bringing in a total of 55 players 16 of those are Walk-Ons it's like what 22 transfers or something like that 17 recruits something like that anyway it adds up to 55 whatever it is and so Arkansas did things a lot differently in terms of bringing in help from the transfer Port Oklahoma State they only had like eight transfers come in or maybe less but they were like 65th or something in the transfer portal rankings Arkansas was in the top 25 I believe so quite a different approach to how things are done and me personally I think in this day you have to go out get transfers I mean like look Clemson for example has been very hesitant to go out and get CL transfers and they've suffered because of that um Oklahoma state is you know relying on players that are within the program and they have some transfers too from past years and stuff like that I don't mean that but uh just very different you know approaches Oklahoma State bringing back what they had last year for the most part and Arkansas conversely relying on a lot of new players but you look at this defense they were 78th in scoring defense at 20.0 points a game um Total Defense 388 points a game that's 96 this is out of like 133 teams or so rushing defense 124 yards a game passing defense 264 um you know so like third down defense like yeah there's a lot of u a lot of big numbers um here with Oklahoma State's defense so keep that in mind Arkansas obviously working in a lot of new players on offense so it's an interesting matchup I think Bobby petrino's offense versus their defense which has been succeptible which a lot of Big 12 teams um are susceptible so Tor Green's got to get off to a better start I thought this was an important note that he he relayed uh what I noticed in the uapb game and I wondered if he would do this because when you're correcting things like a throwing motion and stuff and yeah it's in in practice like you can think about the driving range you just just you're just striping them right over and over again you get out to the course and it's different it's hard to take the driving range to the course with you and same with football it's hard to take practice field to the game field sometimes and players will often revert to things that are comfortable with them and we saw tailin a little bit with that kind of low Loop and throwing motion uh that Bobby patrino has tried to work out with out of him also throwing into the wind a little bit but you know sailing passes high like that pass in the end zone to CJ Brown that stuff can't happen against Oklahoma State need to get off to a really good start get some confidence going get some Mojo and finish with Mojo also that's that's where it's at because we've seen them do good things good enough things you know especially with the way the defense played last year but just at the end of games just not able to close them out so start Strong finish strong and then everything in the middle you know just keep it keep it close um like I said I I want to pick Arkansas to win I I don't think I'm going to just because of History like you know Sam pitman's still the head coach and you know Pitman does not have a great record these last couple years in Road games I think that they can win like I'm not saying like they can't win because I think that they can I think that they have a good chance at winning at Oklahoma State I think that maybe Oklahoma State's goingon to be a little bit surprised when you look at Arkansas's uh defense and um I think that they'll be improved on defense overall versus last year and I thought they made big jumps last year also but but I I absolutely think that they have a chance and one of the things that I'm looking at too is Jin and Jackson you guys know how I talk about jindon because and I've said this before but like in the spring he caught a 15 yard touchdown catch pass and I asked him he like hey you didn't have a lot of catches last year that was a really nice grab and he's like yeah people don't think I can catch like you know took kind of turned it around and uh I asked him in the spring about injuries and he how he played through an ankle injury all last year yeah people think I'm injury prone you know like I'm just saying you're tough man and then uh in Fall Camp somebody said hey you're kind of a PowerBack I think college football game has him listed as a PowerBack he's like you're kind of a PowerBack between the tackles and stuff he's like no I'm not I'm versatile I I can do a lot of different things I guarantee you this guy is seeing all the stuff about olly Gordon olly Gordon is he's this and that and I guarantee you in his head he's like I'm gonna show him I'm gonna I'm not saying he's the back that olly Gordon is you're not the back olly Gordon is jinon I hope you see this I hope it fires you up um but he's he's a he's a very good back I think but um no he's not the do Walker Award winner but I guarantee you he's looking at it's like I'm gonna show I'm gonna show them who's the best back on the field I guarantee you he has that mentality so that's something I'm kind of watching um mlan Baxley asked me seven questions uh to pre preview the game let's see if I can go through them kind of real quick and give you a preview but you can go to gopokes 247 we'll have him on here in about 10 minutes or so how much can you take away from Arkansas's opening performance against uapb a bottom dweller of the FCS I kind of talked about that with you guys I mean there's a lot of positives in terms of penalties and you know hey if they have time they're going to execute this offense very well but as we know the quote from Mike Tyson Everybody's Got A Plan till they get punched in the face so how did they how does Arkansas react when the time gets messed up a little bit when players are getting bumped off their routes when a penalty happens or a sack you know things like that how do they bounce back from those situations when a little bit of adversity hits tayen green sure impress in the season debut last Thursday was that what you expect to see from him against Power four teams uh I don't know quite that level but I mean the th the throw that he made to Tyrus Washington to me was unst an Unstoppable play like nobody's defending that play it was perfectly thrown right in the right spot where only Ty Washington could catch it in perfect stride like throws like that are going to be difficult to stop that 36 yard weaving touchdown run he had he would have got stopped probably 10 yards against a quality secondary like um there's two guys right there um a couple of real athletes SEC quality athletes probably making a stop there but it's still a 10 yard game but we did see some of the athleticism and the the ability of him and I know people were looking at that going oh that's why that's why they're saying Matt Jones is is a good comp for him now again you know he's not quite as big as Matt in terms of you know broadness but he's a little bit taller and maybe not you know he's probably more of a 4 Five Guy Matt's more of like you know it was a sub four4 obviously but uh still pretty good pretty good Mobility Arkansas went 4-8 last season nationally Sam Pitman is a coach that was on the preseason Hot Seat other than getting a win in Still Water what can he do that will prolong his ership nothing other than winning like everybody Paul Fine bom said it best that the sentence has this cannot be the opening sentence when you're referring to Sam Pitman cannot be I really like Sam Pitman but that can't be that can't be the sentence anymore it has to be man like people not liking this guy because they keep he keeps beating them you know um there's nothing that Sam can do because he's done all the other things that fans would want like people are rooting for Sam Pitman they want him to do well they like Sam Pitman they know he wants to retire in Arkansas one day he's already got his place in Hot Springs um there's nothing he can do other than win that is going to save his job that's the bottom line like this getting close kind of stuff just not going to fly this year it's just not like yeah you'd rather be competitive than just get your doors blown off like they did at the end of last season but you gotta win and he knows it I mean they have got to win and I've said before we talked about Dan with Danny the other day just I mean the best possible outcome for this season is that they do really well and Sam Pitman keeps his job because if Sam keeps his job patrino keeps his job Travis Williams keeps his jobs Marcus Woodson deak Adams this recruiting class stays intact you still have a chance with some of the instate guys that left maybe because they didn't maybe think coaches would be here next year you know so best possible outcome is for Pitman to do well this season in my opinion and not have a coaching change not that you can't go out and find a good quality replacement but you know other things have to happen before that you know like no coach worth his salt is going to come here if the N nil situation isn't in order you know like Arkansas Edge guys I know are out there working and and trying to be creative and trying to figure things out but like and you may not like the situation with nil and college football right now but that's the situation we in and you're not going to get a coach if things don't go well without nil and you're not going to get players without nil you're just not and you can complain about Pitman and you know all this stuff and the unfortunate thing is you know it's on you the fan it's on you know obviously there's other things like bet sarson's trying to get that going deal going with the 50-50 raffle and um you know that would cause you know bring in a steady flow of income for Arkansas and nil there's um you know obviously big money boosters and stuff but like you know they need 10 to 14 million dollar for football they just do if you want to have a good football team that's kind of the cost right now it's going and it's it just keeps kind of going up now the revenue sharing deal will help also balance things out but you still need that nil money some X factors Oklahoma State fans should know about on both sides of the ball I mentioned T and green J quendon Jackson you know Pitman talked a lot about Tyron Broden Isaiah satania Isaac Tesla as other options lucaz is obviously an X Factor I mean I think he has a chance to be a first team all SEC guy when everything's said and done he was on his way to allamerican honors freshman allamerican honors in week five of course Landon Jackson all SEC guy um Jaylen braaton on the back end cam ball I think and I'm intrigued to see how these linebackers continue to grow like who who leads the team in tackles is it xaven Sor is it Brad Spence is it Steven dicks do we see a lot of three linebacker sets against Oklahoma State because we know that they're also going to throw the ball very balanced team now they when they run the ball it's olly Gordon like they averaged like 155 rushing yards a game last year and he ran for 1700 yards plus so most of the carries are going to Oly Gordon they're not like racking up 200 plus yards of rushing it's just like Oly Gordon is their rushing attack you know uh and he finally asked me how do I see the game playing out I've got Oklahoma State 31 Arkansas 27 man I want to pick Arkansas you know the line is plus seven and a half I think it'll be a close game I think it'll be a battle uh I I want to pick Arkansas because I think they can do it I think they can get it done I really do I think that they can get it done it's just I gotta see it first you know it's kind of like the Missouri game like I'm not picking them to win in Colombia this year probably no matter how the season goes I'm not going to pick them to win in Colombia until I see it so the first time that they win in Colombia Colombia I have picked it wrong that's kind of how my brain works sometimes all right we're going to hop over and get to um get to Connor or not Connor we're going to get to Connor next uh we're going to go to mlan first so mlan Baxley is a beat Rider over at you can help some of the Arkansas fans get a little bit better understanding of uh of this matchup in in Oklahoma State but first I wanted to ask you like if I've got one meal in still water where does it need to be a lot of people say esimo Joe's but where do where do I need to go eat yes I mean Esa Joe's is kind of the uh the brand of Oklahoma State it's kind of like the Still Water staple it's pretty good I I get the cheese fries with blacken chicken and jalapenos on it and it's a pretty good meal but uh if you're trying to you know watch your waiter do something different um Golden Dragon it's a Chinese joint um on the Main Street of uh still wat is pretty good um that place a lot um trying to think what else uh there's a Mexican restaurant that I'm going to tomorrow night Mari it's a offl the golf course it's a a typical Tex next place um I'm just not sure if OK still water is known for it's a culinary skills but uh there's a couple uh places that that fans enjoy going to um but I think Golden Dragon's probably the place that sticks out the most yeah I've had I've had that mentioned also so uh maybe consider that one also hey jumping right into it mlan what uh what's the uh latest with the injury any suspension uh any guys coming back from injury what's that report right now for Oklahoma State yes Oklahoma State made it uh through fall Camp pretty good and through the first game pretty good there a couple guys they're missing is the linebacker Justin Wright he's on the two deep uh preseason and this week um but he is dealing with another knee injury he missed almost all of last season within KN injury he's a transfer from Tulsa an added guy linebacker but he's uh he's unsure about Saturday we'll see if they're trying to get him back sooner than later so that he can play in this final year by college eligibility but uh I'm not sure if we'll see him on Saturday and then a couple receivers Dwayne Lofton a Virginia Tech transfer um missed the first game last week with a he injured himself in Fall Camp so we haven't seen him um since the first couple days of practice but uh you he's a guy that's expected to come in as a slot receiver and provide depth in the room um they kind of used Gavin Freeman the OU transfer more last week in that position um backing up Bron Presley so we'll see if they use him this week or they're kind of holding him off for a conference play and then Jaylen Pope another receiver that missed time last week and we'll see if he he's a guy that I don't know if he would have seen the field anyway um without injury but and the other guy that we learned on Monday Jason Brooks Jr he's a veteran on offensive lineman transer in from vanderville a couple years ago I had him as a starter he he started a good bit of last year he's kind of dealing with some injuries as well uh gny told us that he's he's not going to be going for a bit he injured himself in practice and and they're kind of holding him out until absolutely necessary um so Jason Brook's another guy that that you know will be held out Saturday but other than that they're good to go no suspensions no uh you know longterm injuries or anything that that we're aware of right now and the folks look good to go mlan Baxley joining us again you can follow him mlan Baxley on Twitter X and and you can also read his stuff at go pokes 247 so what are the best qualities of of Alan Bowman Oklahoma State quarterback and is there any maybe any areas that Arkansas could exploit with him possibly and like just I don't know how does he compare to like Brandon Weeden and Mason Rudolph some of those U former greats at Oklahoma State so I don't know if he's if it's even possible for him to touch you know Brandon Weeden and Mason Rudolph status his finally year here in Still Water second year in still water but he's a guy that is both a manager he's able to you know do the little drop off you know the quick slant passes quick you know get the ball out and but he's also capable of hitting that deep ball we saw a couple times last Saturday um you he hit Rashad Owens for a big touchdown then he he had a perfect pass to a shling shling dropped it in the end zone he's he's capable doing that too one of the things they he wanted to work on this offseason was his just you know capability and staying in the pocket you know oftentimes last year he throw the ball away or you know throw an interception or try to just do too much and you know it's only been one game but he's definitely we've seen his improvements he trusts his offensive line he trusts himself uh just just kind of stay in Pocket go through his reads and and make the accurate throw and make the right throw um so that's something that that he's definitely improved on this off season I think you one of the things that you kind of worry about him is if you know he be forced to throw you know if Arkansas loads the Box you know with know four five six guys there to to tr to try and stop Oly Gordon can Bowman make those throws that he needs to not when he wants to you know I don't know if he has that you know capability to to Really you know thread the needle and find guys on the he leads guys a lot we saw that last week against South picota State kind of leading guys out and you know they had to kind of adjust on the on the Fly um so he's not as you know pinpoint as a passer as we've seen both Oklahoma State and elsewhere um but but those those are things that kind of stand out again you he's definitely made improvements from last year again just one game against an FCS team but it seems like that he's on the right path to to getting where he needs to be you know one of the things I think is different about these two teams is just how they close out games Arkansas was oneing five in one score games last year I believe Oklahoma state was four- one so flip the script entirely uh but with these high octane offenses usually you see teams that have a pretty decent number of penalties they're just able to overcome those penalties but Oklahoma State doesn't produce a high number they don't have a high number of turnovers either either and gundy's just had such good success the past 19 Seasons at Oklahoma State what is what is the secret what is the recipe to his success why is he I mean everybody's trying to do this everybody's trying to H have high octane offenses but I mean what does he have like eight 10- win seasons over the last 19 years what what is it about him that U that makes that I think really you know he talks about it the players talk about it uh just getting guys that that are tough maybe have that uh you ship on their shoulder you know like he's not they're not they're not at recruiting they're not they're never getting in the top 20 of you know recruits and like same with transfer Port they're not getting you know huge big name transfers in the past couple years but he's just you know kind of doing more with less and getting guys that really want to buy into a system buy into the you know what Oklahoma state is trying to do that that you know kind of blue collar that toughness while still you know having enough talent to survive and be better than you know a four or five star uh that they're going against so um that's been kind of the case for you know now two decades it feels like I mean this is his 20th year as head coach and he's had a winning season all but one year so far um you know whether that's a you know seven win season or 10 you know 11 12 one season as as he's produced a couple times um it's just been so consistent I think it's something that you know a lot of coaches want to be able to do obviously I mean we don't see many coaches that stick around at one school for you know 10 plus years we don't see a lot of coaches and programs you know win at the caliber that he has wanted they're third in the country in consecutive winning seasons behind Boise State and Wisconsin and you know State playing and inferior conferences and then you know Wisconsin has been you know you know division that's uh you know not not as competitive as as some of the teams that you know Oklahoma State's played over the years and so just being able consistently win uh with you know not four and five star Talent has just been something that's G's been really good at and I mean it doesn't sound like he's slowing down anytime yeah well I don't mean to say this is inconsistent because he's been very consistent but these are like just kind of the outlier games it just it just kind of stands out a little bit you don't see many 10 win teams that lose 337 like they did last year to South Alabama or um you know go on the road to UCF which was a pretty average team last year and get beat 453 you look at that 2022 season um they beat Texas and then they go on the road in the Sunflower State and lose 480 to to Kansas State and then 3716 to Kansas like what are the explanations for those games those just seemed like bizarre um you know in like 4117 to Texas Tech uh back in 2019 you know like where and there was a 5- win Texas Tech Team like where where do these games pop out of it's just it just seems kind of bizarre to to see those numbers sometimes yeah I mean it really is a crazy Trend you know we talk about the 10- win teams and you just having so much success but then like you said when they lose it seems like they lose by wide margins uh like you said you know last year they went four- one in close games that one loss was to uh to Iowa State um when they were it was the first game after the three quarterback rotation so uh yeah I mean there's different you know South Alabama they were definitely you know overlooking them you know it was the last game before conference play last year and I think South Alabama really came in determined to win that game and they got a early lead and from that point was just out of it um and same with UCF going down the road like you said you they came in with a I think five or six game I think five game winning streak last year and uh you went down to Orlando it was a rainy game but you know it was rainy for the nights too and they just had a couple big throws and a couple big runs that really just put the Cowboys out of the game early on and they never really were able to come back and I think that's something that happened against Kansas State too you know getting hit early back in 2022 um I mean it's just bizarre Trend that we've seen you know for you know five six 10 years now of these games where like you said you they beat Texas and then the next year the next week they go on the road and came and scor touchdown so um it's something that you know I don't think you know Gund is proud of they found ways to overlook it find ways to you know still have successful seasons and successful games despite that but it's definely something that's something to look for um you know when you look back at the Mike and the experience we'll get you out with this one here mlan uh when you look at Arkansas if you're Mike Gundy what would concern you about what Arkansas has and what areas do you feel like Arkansas might try to exploit against Oklahoma State and then ultimately how do you see this one playing out if you want to care to give your score prediction yeah so I mean my biggest question all season was Oklahoma State secondary uh you know pretty much for everybody except for Cory black you know Cory black one of the top quarterbacks in the league and um we saw you know last year there were so many plays where they would you know just get bees and go instead of whether it's pass play or Run play get for 20 plus yards I think that the Kansas State game where that just happen so often um with Will Howard just finding guys or escaping out of the pocket and that was something that all offseason we were talking they said they approved they said they watch film and uh improved upon that and then against South Dakota State Saturday they that hadn't been changed and they um you had four passes of 20 plus yards including a wide open 60 yard touchdown the second half um so they they just really exploited that and I I see a world where you ton green and Bob Patrina draw some things up to try to hit some long balls and really test that secondary um you know early on and and maybe for all four quarter just continue to test them and make make them shut you down make them utilize these guys that you know have one or two years of you know starting and playing experience now make them step up and and you know take the game uh from Arkansas and you know I think that there's gonna be a lot of points on Saturday I think um you both these offenses are are talented and have you know a lot of athletes on on you know all over the field but I think Oklahoma State you know we'll be able to you know Gordon all Gordon and that offensive line um we just continue to work down Arkansas's defense and kind of you know run away in the second half um so so I think Oklahoma State you know goes two and 0 this season or goes two and0 to start the season and uh escapes a wish should be a very fun nice to talk to the beautiful people here on hog sports live there you go there you go you know your audience there hey uh Conor let's just jump right into it man we always we always talk about you know what are the burning questions for this game what are the keys to Victory uh the number one and most blatantly obvious is Oly Gordon the do Walker Award winner last year can Arkansas slow this guy down yeah that is the million-dollar question on Saturday you know I I really think um South Dakota State All Things Considered I know he had like 28 carries for 126 yards and a couple touchdowns but I thought that they did a decent job you know containing him it was just kind of giving up the giving up the other stuff like Sam Pitman talked about it in his press conference we've talked I've heard you talked about it with Danny um that little fade route you know hitting put lulling defenses to sleep and then um with heavy dose of Gordon and then just hitting him over the top in the passing game I think uh I think Arkansas's better equipped and I believe that you know talking to the guys hearing them in the press conference it sounds like it's kind of been an emphasis so I really expect him to be a little bit more focused on on not getting W to sleep and and still having enough um enough wherewithal to have bodies around Gordon because it's G to take it's not going to take the arm tackling that we saw a few times last week which was kind of disappointing yeah you're not going to be able to arm tackle one you're going to have to have multiple bodies around the ball and and that's what it's going to take to slow him down I mean you can't stop him I'm expecting him to still eat and get his but it's about stopping everyone else and making him beat you by himself yeah you you can't as you said the arm tackling can't happen you've got to have you've got to press the hip you've got to you know have you gotta break down on this guy make him you know stay inside and don't let this guy hit the outside on you and what I would say to Arkansas fans is like if you're watching on TV and you see players flying over the pile and a lot of a lot of white jerseys on the screen that's going to be a very good sign in this one if you see guys kind of pulling up like oh he's got it that's gonna be a problem like you got to keep this guy three four five yards not 30 40 50 yards um and the way you do that is by being uh sound as a tackling team and gang tackling this guy that's I mean that's just that's just how it is yeah and with the iPads on the sideline I mean you start seeing guys pull up and not go after Gard I don't think Travis Williams and Marcus Woodson are going to really appreciate that we might see some fresh fresh faces if if they start getting scared to really lay the wood on on olly Gordon and you you got to get out of Camp you got to get out of Camp mode like you know what I saw from Oklahoma State a couple of times when I was watching their game against South Dakota state was there was a little bit of Camp mode from some of those Dbacks like they didn't want to go to the ground you know they didn't want to dive because you always hear in Camp hey stay up stay up those kinds of things so um you gota you got to be willing to get to get dirty and and go to the ground so uh next question which ton green are we gonna get we gon to get first quarter ton green or we're gonna get second quarter ton green it looked like maybe Bobby patrino gave him a little bit of constructive criticism at uh at the end of the first quarter and he kind of corrected some of the things with his throwing motion and stuff and started started dropping some dimes yeah man uh yeah in that Press Box in the first quarter we could all kind of you could feel the air kind of be like what is this on after a couple of throws I think it was the back-to-back Miss slant routes to Tyron Broden where he just was way off the mark and everyone kind of was like okay what what are we doing here and then you know to his credit ton green settled down and and really got into a Groove and um really LED that last two-minute Drive which was really I think for me the highlight of the game watching them in that two-minute drill um just marches down the field obviously his highlight run that um evoked shades of ma Matt Jones and what he did at Arkansas but I really thought that he that second quarter he was really composed he really showed um showed that he can you know settle down and when it comes to him he can be really accurate that throw to T to Washington I know you already talked about it a little bit earlier but man I mean you took the words out of my mouth Unstoppable is right I mean that was just a perfect throw that I mean the defender could do whatever they want I mean they're not stopping that so if we can see shades of that consistently throughout the game I think Arkansas's going to be fine and I mean look Oklahoma State their Achilles Hill has been giving up big plays you've got Bobby patrino who's not afraid to take shots if ton Green's accurate and in Rhythm I mean it's the perfect recipe for Arkansas to you know sneak out to a two three touchdown lead on Oklahoma State before they really realize what's going on there was it's always fun to follow the emotion of college football and there's no place better better than like a game thread like on the razor ed on hog Sports and there's a lot of grumbling about tayor G people remember how the game ended but like you go back and look you know there was oh this guy's not accuracy you know you know all this kind of stuff so I mean my younger brother even texted me and he was just like after that first first couple of drivs my young brother texted me and he was like T green can't throw for crap what are we doing you know I mean it's just and then and then afterwards he was just like you know what maybe he's not too bad it's just like you said the emotion of college football and the roller coaster that it goes through throughout a game um is Arkansas going to be able to overcome that issues they've had with the offensive line I I've always brought this up Connor because it's like you know these guys come in and they're the starters like unquestioned these are three new starters for you you know like where's the where's the push where's the competition where's the group of guys behind them that's younger that's that's pushing them you know the future starters on this team so you know um they're gonna be able to overcome like not having a guy like Patrick cudas out there they seem to feel good with am Mar and Harris yeah I mean you bring that up the push remember back in Camp me and you were both standing over by the lineman and they're going through little one-on-one drills and pitman's kind of standing there he's not really doing the one-on-one instruction it's Matteo's kind of running the thing but pitman's sitting over there and he's like um you know a good rep Carmona and then immediately after uh Hara steps in and he's like good stuff EG we might need to find some playing time for for you you know kind of just saying that out loud for everyone to hear to kind of motivate Fernando and I think that little things like that can really push push guys and from everything we've heard amiran Harris has had a really great Camp they obviously like I mean they're not going to say that they don't like their guys um and you know there's backups and stuff but um I do think that there's a big question mark with the numbers Matos is obviously concerned we're all concerned about them only having now really 12 scholarship guys available with cudas out and so I think that um you know this is going to be the first test I I don't know if they're going to be able to overcome it uh Pitman mentioned it right after the uapb game that they were kind of bullying Maran haris at guard because they know that he's more natural at tackle and I think that that's going to be a real weak spot and it's GNA be interesting to see if Oklahoma State's new fourman front that they're you know they saw we saw a lot of it last week against South Dakota State um and I'm sure we're going to see even more window dressing and you know more creative ways to get pressure on on the quarterback and I think the real they're going to Target amarian Harris I mean there's no question question about that and um I'm just really interested to see how this offensive line holds up I think that they're much better I mean than last year just talent wise their first five that they're going to trot out even with Amar and Harris I think is is much better than what we saw last year but I mean is that is that enough to to keep ton green protected give him enough time to do what he needs to do and um let Arkansas you know score enough points to pull up for Road upset I'm not I'm not convinced enough yet but uh definitely going to be the most probably the one thing that I I think will decide the game is can they give ton green enough enough time to do what he needs to do and then obviously Tay needs to do his job but but it all starts up front they gotta protect him if Arkansas is gonna produce big plays um 49 of South Dakota State's plays total of 174 yards and six plays six other plays total 210 yards I mean that's yeah can Arkansas can can they exploit this defense at all and generate some big plays well and breaking that down even further five of those you know six plays were were pass plays that went for over 20 yards so it it again you know ton if if he's accurate and hitting Bobby Patrina is gonna find some some holes in that in that back end of Bron Nardo's defense and and last year they it was a big question mark giving up chunk plays I mean uh Gundy was talking about it Monday their players need to have their eyes in the correct spots and basically was talking about focus and how they can't you know lose sight of of what what the goal is and what their job is on certain plays they need to be more disciplined and I think that that boods well if if we saw the numbers speak for themselves last year they were not a good team it it stopping big plays and um it's again a question this year um if they can give it up and you've got Bobby patrino who we all know is the the king of taking shots he's going to you know get the ball to his Playmakers and I just really think it's the perfect recipe for Arkansas if if they're able to give ton green time and if ton green is up to the challenge and on his game it's the perfect recipe for I think Arkansas to to really make some hay targeting that that back end of Oklahoma State's defense as we know last year Arkansas was a terrible home team I mean they were awful they lost to BYU who won five games they they lost 73 to Mississippi State um they were hammered by Auburn and Missi at home just an embarrassing effort at home last year but they were pretty good on the road they they didn't close out the games but they were pretty good what do you think about Arkansas's chances taking the show on the road this year and just um I don't know they were you look at the schedule you're like man that's three tough road games right out of the gate but maybe that's better than three T home games the way they played last year honestly I mean thinking about it like when the schedule first came out I was kind of like you know what it's not really not the worst thing in the world that Oklahoma State's a road game considering how they've played under Pitman on the road I mean yeah they have a five- 12 record in his 10 year and yeah they were one and five in one possession games which you know a handful of those were on the road they didn't close the job last year but you know a team that loses to LSU in a night game a Death Valley by three they go on the road and lose to Old Miss which is a a top 15 team at the time in Oxford by touchdown you lose to Alabama Nick Sabin coached Alabama in Tuscaloosa by three points and this is a 4-8 team went in there and did that I mean this team by all accounts is much more talented they're better coached on the offensive side of the ball we know I mean you're telling me that a team that was 4 and eight last year goes into those three venues this year better than last year that they're not able to go into still water and beat Oklahoma State I'm not buying that one bit I think that this team if they're focused now you said at the top 55 new guys are those new guys going to be able to handle a road environment same as the team last year we don't know it's the first first big road test for a lot of these guys at you know venue that size and I know Boon picking stadium is going to be packed even though it's 118 M kickoff I know it's going to be packed and people are going to be Rowdy and looking forward to it but uh given the history of how Arkansas has played I mean in pitman's five years they've only lost three games on the road that have been just completely blowouts where Arkansas was not in the game really from the start you know and those were in three separate years too so I mean yeah I I really like this game being on the road considering the history I mean obviously it would be nice to have a f b game considering how the the first stretch of the schedule plays out but um you know with history it says Arkansas should be fine on the road so I actually kind of like it and hopefully the that that Trend continues for this Pitman coach team score prediction man I've gone back and forth and and I'm in the same boat as you I I I my heart wants to pick them they but I just can't I I you know but you know that they can yeah I know that they can I believe that this team can go in and beat Oklahoma State I just have to see it I have to see it with my own two eyes and I mean it's kind of like if you in the Missouri game I'm not gonna pick them to win a big Marquee game until I see that they can do it we' thrown it out millions of times one and five in one possession game I don't expect this to be a 17-point multiple possession loss I expect it to be a close game maybe it comes down to a Kyle Ramsey field goal or who who knows I think it's going to be close though I don't see it being more than a possession I just can't bring myself to say that this team is capable of winning until I see it so I'm saying Arkansas loses by field goal 3835 or 4138 something like that uh that's that's going to be my final prediction Arkansas with the L until I see it but they're very capable I believe I believe this team is very capable of going into still water and winning okay real quick because we're going over but we we got you on so we got to ask basketball any anything notable that we need to know about with Razorback Hoops yeah so the this coming up week we got two big ones on campus two big guys in the in the 2025 class Co Pete forward five star um from Perry Gilbert AR Arizona uh 68 forward like I said in the Mal Thomas is also going to be in town for his visit they're hosting two of those guys in the 2025 class I'll have a bunch of visit primers getting ready for those next week with everything you need to know so uh just be on the lookout for that and that's who Arkansas has on the docket obviously you you kind of let in with this but Arkansas Kansas preseason exhibition that's going to be a fun one to get down there I'm here in October 24th might be the date it's looking like it's going to be the date for that it's a Thursday night so kind in this Oklahoma State team um what are you thinking about these guys yeah you know my duty was really taking a look at at Arkansas's defense against their offense right so you know I did a pretty deep dive on that sorry if it's echoey in here try different I'm in a different spot today but uh yeah you're probably about the same as I am you lay in bed all week you think all right how do I really think this game is going to go right every night and then you think well it's probably pretty simple it's really GNA come down to Arkansas's defensive line against their offensive line and Oly Gordon right that's they're not making it a big secret about what they want to do they want to establish the Run game early try to keep it out of Bowman's hands and of course when it is in his hands he's getting it out really really quickly so probably not a game that you're going to rack up just a ton of sacks or even pressures you know I could see them just trying to spit it out throughout the course of the game and frustrating you that way but if you take away the Run game and I think they can Trey I just I feel like Arkansas's got the size and the depth this is the defensive line we've been talking about since the beginning of the year you know as a strength of the team yes let's go find out we're about to find out real quick because these guys got what five sixth year seniors starting on offense line now they're not all you know it's not Georgia where everybody's four and five star but they're a bunch of gritty Tough Country Boys you know from around the region that's just what they are they're a throwback group they want to get in there and fight with you and that's where it's going to be decided I think Arkansas can take away what they like to do and if they can limit those big plays where Gordon you know like he did last week only getting 10 12 yards at the most if Arkansas can do that think they're going to win yeah okay all right Danny Danny West thinking that they can do that um you know I always like close my eyes Danny and like try to Envision like can I see something happen like I did with calip Perry when he was first hired like people were saying oh he's burned out he's gonna you know all this stuff and I'm just thinking so can I Envision John caliper a legend ending his career just on a sour note at Arkansas I can't I couldn't Vision I couldn't see it and I close my eyes and I think about Oklahoma State just beating the dog out of Arkansas I cannot I can't see that I can't see I can see maybe a I can see maybe a field goal at the end of the game for Oklahoma State winning it I can see Sam Pitman talking about having him an old cold beer in the post game um I can't see just a route I I and I try to you know like can I see it and I I I do that all the time with with trying to predict different stuff and so I think I think it's gonna be a close game I think Arkansas is either going to win you know Maybe by maybe a couple of scores even yeah or it's going to be a close Oklahoma State win I picked a close Oklahoma State win ultimately just because of you know how things have gone you know I'm the kind of guy too Danny that I'm not I'm I'm like I want to see it like I want to see them as I said in the show earlier I want to see them win in Columbia before I pick them winning in Colombia you know yeah that kind of thing yeah I'm with you on that and I can't argue with anybody that would pick the top 20 team with a Heisman candidate at home you know so I can't argue with you I'm just with you on the U on the aspect from defensive line standpoint I think Arkansas can match what they do I agree but man you know that's really what it comes down to do you believe Arkansas can go on the road not just play in a close game we know they can make it a game they've done it against much better teams can they win it and you know we talked so much about last year and and I'm the world's worst at it I I include history and TRS probably way too much predictions because it it really doesn't matter what happened last year does it right people remind me of that all the time yeah absolutely so just looking at it from right now I mean you we could talk about the team Talent composite rankings and all that but if you showed me two rosters right now told me to pick one I know which one I'm picking and you know I'm picking it 10 out of 10 times and I know patrino just scored 10 out of 10 times I'm going with the Hawks what's your score prediction Danny man you know what early a month ago when we made our preseason predictions I I kind of saw it as more of a defensive game not really defensive but mid 20s and uh you know which is probably lower than people expected but now I probably do see I do think it it'll probably take 30 excuse me to get it done so I I'd probably go something if I'm picking up said I'm probably going something like 3330 Hogs the question Danny is are you picking the upset not I am 3330 is your score we'll make it official tomorrow I reckon when when our staff predictions come out but yeah put me down I'm rolling with the hogs on this one sticking with it 6 AM total spoiler those those will be out uh Danny uh recruiting information um sure yeah what these these two teams have battled for recruits uh recent years obviously you know lucaz was on um we interviewed him what day Tuesday and there was a reporter for Oklahoma State that asked 21 straight questions to Lucas oh man I saw that I wasn't sure if that was serious or not and it's just all like you know did you consider Oklahoma state did you go to visit did you like and he's like no I just really wanted to come to Arkansas um but this guy worked for the transfer portal by exactly um but uh anyway these two teams have have battled for recruits and you would expect that I mean they're just over three hours apart it's kind of crazy they haven't played since 1980 also that's crazy and what's crazier to me you know we talk about stats and stuff like that really weird stuff that they haven't played since 1980 but you think about OU and Arkansas they haven't played a regular season game since 1926 they're about what three and a half hours apart but anyway that's another topic but yeah just going through the recruiting battles uh really early this morning put some put some meat on the smoker tray we got Chiefs Kicking It Off you got a pork butt on there yeah that thing's rolling right now but uh yeah you know just looking at the rosters late last night what stood out to me two of Oklahoma State's current top five highest rated players on the roster are former Hogs you know with Colin clay and AJ Green both in the top five for them uh pretty shocking to see kind of where they finish and recruiting rankings High School recruiting rankings the last two years 55 and 56 yeah personally I mean when you think about how much winning they do and how consistent they've been over there it really doesn't add up alwayss does it so right now you know team Talent composite they're behind teams like Kansas Syracuse Vandy Cal Berkeley so it's just kind of shocking to me from a big picture view to look at Oklahoma State and it's really a credit to I guess Gundy and what they've been able to do because they're not not just raking in the talent over there Arkansas's on anyway and much more impressive to look at I know for a fact too Danny like just from people behind the scenes that Arkansas and Oklahoma State like people talk about nil issues with Arkansas and stuff they don't have this that it's not even close what Arkansas stands on nil versus what Oklahoma state does and I know that for a fact you know we talked about it on Monday and sorry to keep you on here I'm sure you're running along today but you start to project 5 10 years from now what is that look like in Oklahoma you know you've got and not just Arkansas but obviously Oklahoma now waving the SEC Banner you're going to have to deal with Missouri A&M Texas LSU still going to come into Oklahoma where does that put the Cowboys 10 years from now you know what's the big 12 look like yeah super confident that that that's the conference that's going to you know withstand the test of time those teams maybe it is but maybe some of those local talents stay closer to Houston UCF too we never know yeah yeah anything else with recruiting Danny obviously they're not not a whole lot buddy it's been pretty slow uh I'll men summer months are such big months now for recruiting that's right it's it's shifted and we can talk about that later but uh Cohen Brown new offered out of waah hatchee Texas 2026 wide receiver Ronnie Fouch really the only one lately putting out new offers he's got maybe five or six of the latest really slow going right now in recruiting but uh hey we'll get to talk about maybe a few visitors next week for the UAB home game in fville all right Danny we got to get that studio put together too I know I'm the Tex
