at the outset of this year like 85 out of the 90 players found a spot somewhere on the Cowboys roster or another roster last season it's racy McMath with the catch another really good throw by Trey Lance had an opportunity run a nice little stem Corner route K take it in take it back up and then get back to the corner good ball location good grab I like this going no huddle too Snoop Conor on the carry a little Tempo going back to your point Billy that's it's a crazy stat line in terms of guys that that were not on teams last year and want people to remember that following today's game obviously on Tuesday is the final cut down there going to be 37 guys that are going to be looking for opportunities now obviously Cowboys have opportunity to bring back 16 guys on the practice squad but there's going to be over, 1500 players dropped in a bucket all the same day so The Scouting department has a lot of work to do in terms of scouring for their last little holes they want to feel how about that let the first down inside the 45 yd line move to chains again going to continue to give a lot of props to Trey Lance there's a lot of quarterbacks in this league who are unwilling to sit in the pocket with pressure in their face he's he's he's a man of of large stature 64 200 what 20 lb 30 lb he's solid but just because you're big doesn't mean that you're willing to take take a hit he has been sitting in there amongst pressure through all these different changes in the offensive line and throwing good balls and eludes the rush this time little fake and got back to the line of scrimmage anyway that's one thing that I've been really impressed by obviously he's had a handful of turnovers today in the form of interceptions but prior to to those decisions he had one all right they both went to the same player but one of them was one heck of a play another one was a bad decision but he has over these three preseason games collectively taking care of the ball even amongst a lot of pressure again when you're rotating through different offensive lines tend to get a lot of pressure in your face down inside the 40 yd line cam Johnson that flag down holding 79 offense 10yd penalty repeat second down it's Matt wetco it's interesting for the Cowboys at the the swing tackle position you talk about the injuries that occurred for the Cowboys during Camp one of them on the offensive line a couple on the offensive line with chuma edoga as well as Earl bosk who was on the practice squad last year ioga was on the 53 man roster was a swing to tackle last year and the Cowboys looking for a swing tackle to Tyler gon your starter at left tackle and teren steel at right tackle it's cam Johnson down inside the 40 there is oh we've got the issue I've seen once before here at AT&T Stadium for those of you that looking at your screen trying to figure out why you looking at a bunch of socks on the screen their hel their helmets were stuck in case you're wondering how hard these guys are hitting I do remember that in a regular season game and I'm trying to remember who the players were involved in it that they had the helmet stuck or the face mask got stuck an offensive and defensive player they try to figure out what the heck just happened there oh this is helmet on Jersey oh little snag that is that is strange that is yeah that's that's a first for me one that I remember was it was helmet to helmet contact it had to be pulled away Lance going deep down the right side oh almost off the hands of Deontay Bernett with Matt henkins defending that was a ball not sure we're going to have an opportunity to get a look here I'm not sure you're going to see Snoop Conor he does a good job of picking up the blitz you don't see it on your screen but it gave Trey Lance a little bit of time to sit back there he still got pressure in his face and stood up there strong like I just referred to and dropped a nice pass upfield shoulder outside gave his receiver an opportunity to catch a touchdown got to come down with those plays when you're trying to make a roster so Fourth Down Snoop Conor the back alongside Trey Lance in the back [Music] field Dallas Cowboys is on the on the call today offensively he calling a really good game keeping the defense guessing well he had to live up to what Dak did last year with Will Greer the quarterback Dak called plays last year in this last preseason game so the bar was set high so you're saying Dak got benched today for his quarterback coach got P binged you're not playing and you're not calling the plays this time there's Scott toine former quarterback at Wisconsin long time with Mike McCarthy going back to the Packer days he was he played for Mike McCarthy with the Packers and he's been on the cowboy staff ever since McCarthy took over here in 2000 had a nice college career at Wisconsin Lance using his feet bring up a third and short good job good job he's doing a good job you see him just panning here panning panning panning where's my next man up boom now use my feet get out of there once you make the decision to run be decisive get vertical try not to G choice the sideline get as many yards as you can and protect your body you see he wanted more he felt like he could have gotten more but either way it was a positive play you can see him just growing in front of our eyes here just his his pocket presence getting more confident what we say in the beginning he needs reps that's right he's getting them to 18 pass attempts in college at North Dakota State nowhere for cam Johnson to run the rookie out of Northwestern 300 you said yep at North Dakota State he had 41 attempts in the first game of the preseason I think he had another 25 last week and today he has 35 attempts so we're sitting at around 100 attempts he's one third of his college career in pass attempts in these three preseason games to let you guys know exactly how inexperienced he has been and how training camp what's been the biggest step forward that you've taken in your game so far uh confidence man just going out and having fun I think that's the biggest thing is just uh with the work that I put in as offseason with Dak obviously and then just continuing to build every aspect of a wide receiver uh my confidence is through the roof so just going out and knowing that you know I'm that guy and just continuing to build on that so that was one of my biggest steps that I took this uh this past offseason that I brought to Camp with me and it seems like there's a lot of confidence in the passing game as a whole does that start with Dak does it start with the play caller is it a little bit of everything you hit the nail on the head uh obviously Dak is a outstanding quarterback outstanding leader and so when you have a guy like that that's throwing you the ball and leading your offense uh whatever coach wants him to do he's going to get it done and so uh I think that he has confidence in Dak as well and Dak has confidence in all the guys that's around him and so uh just continue to go out and find ways to get better and challenge ourselves to grow each and every day no matter what it may be now it feels like just yesterday you were fighting for snaps you're were fighting for the depth chart and now we're getting an opportunity the guys around you in their step forward uh man it's special to see because uh I talk to them all the time and obviously everybody kind of knows how my rookie year went and so I try to give him a little piece of information that maybe I could have used or could have have done differently and just to help them grow and help them build and so uh having all these young guys around uh it challenges me to keep going as well and you know like you said Jaylen Brooks is is doing an outstanding job we got Flo who's been making plays keep he's coming each and every day just continuing to get better you got crop you know you got a handful of guys that just keep keep chipping away they keep building keep coming to practice every day with the right attitude right mindset and so it's special to see them grow and then like I say uh it's it's good to work off of them uh use their use their work as my work and continue to grow and continue to find ways to add to my game or you know maybe build off of what they've done and vice versa so uh it's special to be in a be in a group like that you now you made the change from number 18 to number one this past offseason what was the reasoning behind that and then also what's your number one goal going into the year uh the reasoning behind it uh always wanted a single digit and then uh one came open so uh it just reminds me you know just find a way to get 1% better every day uh and I keep I always tell myself be one of one whatever I can do to be one of one do it and uh my goal for this whatever may be in this in this league and uh be consistent and be there for for my team and so uh I'm just looking forward to the opportunity and looking forward to God out and contining to grow and make plays well you're off to a great start congratulations on a great training camp open the season at the Cleveland Browns a 325 kickoff then back here to host New Orleans and Baltimore then a Thursday night game at the New York Giants followed by a game at Pittsburgh that's your start to the season with the bye coming after six games it's imperative for the team Cowboys to get off to a strong start this season of course Mike McCarthy and the final year of his contract many of the coaches on this team the quarterbacks as well including Dak Prescott the final year of their contract and uh it's going to be fun to see what happens once the regular season starts in two weeks Isaiah yeah Cleveland Browns to open it up those guys are obviously a solid outfit uh Mike Zimmer obviously be going against deshun Watson and his committee on that side of the ball and then you flip it all right then obviously you have a Tyler giden versus a miles Garrett for his Ricky Premiere in the league yeah it's it's a tall order for the rookie out of Oklahoma it's going to be fun to watch though as the Cowboys uh there it is there's your matchup welcome to the league Tyler gon first round pick and of course miles Garrett from right here in Arlington went to Martin High School and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year five-time Pro Bowl selection so that'll be the emphasis going into that week we all know that but uh the way the Cowboys have come together as a team and I I really like the makeup of this team now coming out of training camp more so than going into training camp with the Improvement that they made and the additions to the roster so for they made tremendous strives and shout out to this entire front office will mlay his entire scouting Department you know timly is always looking for the Big Splash and free agency but they always do a really good job in terms of filling the holes in this roster not always the way the way the way the fans want it to happen but they always fill the void and make sure they put a competitive team out there how about the this is the NFC East last year of course the Cowboys win the division it's been now 20 years since we've had a repeat winner in the NFC East going all the way back to 2004 and um the Cowboys and the Eagles a lot of people think it's a battle between those two but I know Isaiah you like uh what the Washington has done of course they have Jaden Daniels at quarterback and you look at it as a wideopen race it's going to be a very competitive NFC East this year no doubt about it the Cowboys are always taking care of business and putting themselves at the top of that list but it's not going to be easy not by any means Philadelphia continues to find ways to improve their roster we all know the impact that Dan Quinn has on the culture of a team so he'll turn that a complete 180 out there in Washington and you never know what you're going to get with the Giants but they I'm sure they'll put out a good outfit as well we're under four minutes to play here and Tre Lance and the Cowboys down a touchdown and Tre Lance gets out of bounds has the first down using his feet again his Lance is up around 90 yards rushing on the afternoon now gets the first down and stops the clock you don't have to use your your timeouts obviously Dallas has three to have a few to spare there but why use it if you don't have to it's good play by Trey Lance just moving the chains 11 carries for 90 yards Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush quarterbacks one and two on the roster Jerry Jones did say this week that uh Trey Lance will be on the 53 but he wanted to see more of them he's getting an opportunity in this game to do that brevan span for the tight end out of Minnesota with the catch fan for you haven't heard His Name a lot in this preseason but I got to tell you he had a really good training camp the coaches love him so much so they gave him a pocket full of money and free agency to make sure that he came to Dallas so he's somebody that you have to keep an eye out for as they continue to solidify this roster on Tuesday um he's a big big fell 67 what 250 lbs somewhere around there 260 no disrespect there but they I know that Linda Wells tight ends coach loves him and what he can bring to the table again just another one of those guys who hasn't had opportunity to show what he's capable of in these games short completion there and that's to Alec holler another one of those tight ends a college free agent out of Central Florida Central Florida making an impact on this game yeah they are again another positive play know it's not the most exciting thing in the world but guess what the chains are moving in the right direction find yourself in a third and short situation the entire Playbook is open when you have this down in distance Lo down to around 220 to play now a third down play Under Pressure fires downfield 50/50 ball and the Chargers come up with it and that is Matt henkins out of Iowa and Flower Mound Marcus High School right here in the Metroplex and Chargers brought more pressure again in a third and short situation they don't want to give Tre Lance opportunity to use his leg so they bring pressure Trey gives his man cam Johnson a chance he puts the ball right on his
