An EPIC 9th inning between the Yankees and Orioles 😳 (Full inning!)

Craig Kimbrell on to try to finish it off in the top half of the ninth inning Major League Baseball's active saves leader 23 of them coming this year gets 89 then top of the order in the ninth inning today yeah 440 career saves for Craig Kimber Trent Grisham has had a big afternoon an RBI single a homer the base hit in the sixth make him a perfect three for three Craig Kimbrell has been all awesome as of late he's only allowed one earn run in his last 21 Innings pitched Kimbrell was wobbly early this year led to far too premature speculation that the Orioles would be shopping for a closer people were saying how much would you pay for the flamethrower in Oakland would you trade Westberg would you trade cower would you trade holiday all that talk has calmed down because Kimbrell has been great the last two plus months yeah he's really found the fast ball location and that's always the key for him like it is any pitcher really he's got that low release point so it's almost an upshoot on the fast ball got a really nice high spin rate and look the V Le's been ticking up a little bit we've seent him up to 96 97 he's got that good breaking ball behind it two balls and two [Applause] strikes Grisham Cabrera and then topof the order Ben rice so three left-handed swingers here against the veteran Kimbrell Ball's off the plate fans want it of course Full Count 3-2 pitch and the lead off hitters aboard in a one-run game to start the ninth Bo and trink risham own four times today a homer and two singles a couple of RBI and now a walk yeah a couple real good takes from Grom there to work that lead off walk and here's an opportunity to bun him over you got to get that tying run in scoring position Kimo's tough to bun off of yeah he throws a lot of high fast balls and it's hard to get on top of it and put it down first pitch to as Waldo Cabrera misses up and in a single sandwiched in between two strikeouts on Cabrera's line today two and0 I need to go talk to Kimbrell here and just settle him down a little bit get him back in the strike zone and if you're cab at the plate you got to make him throw a strike yeah it's been a while since Kell's on the mountain and you can I mean how' you feel I mean when you hadn't pitched in five or six days the especially a sinker baller you're absolutely right you start losing your mechanics and control start things start snowballing on you you have the pitch clock and you're rushed as it is on that mound you have really no time to breathe unless a catcher comes out and talks to you to settle you down you want those constant reps of 5 six days I know closers are a little bit different they don't want to come in in games that aren't save situations taking all the way Cabrera takes a strike to your point won't even have that discussion because they're backto back walks that have opened the ninth well again you have a sacrific situation to try to get that tying run over to third go-ahead run it second that's where you want to attack judge too cuz it's a big bottom to top swing uppercut swing fast Ball's up typically work on him if you can get him there so now Alex Verdugo who's 0 for three with a walk just a 1 for12 Series so far for the Yankee left fielder backto back walks a three-run homer stto grounds out judge strikes out and now two balls and no strikes to Alex [Applause] Verdugo out to the opposite field Austin Hayes has it and the Orioles now were backed up with their last chance now Ben rice gets the fast ball just about Bell tie he knew what to do with it the Brock bombers with a of the ninth has given New York a chance to finish off a three-game sweep and get into the All-Star break back on top in the AL East it'll be Klay Holmes that'll try to finish it out here in the bottom of the inning yeah Holmes got his 21st save on Friday big Sinker upper 90s and also slider controversy was the lead off hitter kirstead that he hit in the helmet obviously didn't mean to he's Ryan O'Hearn as the potential tying run oh Hearn cashed in with his second triple of the season in game two of this Series yesterday [Applause] afternoon Klay Holmes falling behind a little bit more often than we're used to seeing from him so far two balls and no strike that's why I was puzzled why cowser swung at a 3-1 pitch Holmes is having a hard time throwing strikes you're going to get the same pitch 31 as you are 3-2 usually [Applause] [Music] [Applause] three balls and no strikes and again in the category of nothing comes easy today yeah the idea is find a way to get on base if you're old Hearn cuz you got Henderson coming behind you already has a home run today and 28 of them on the year tying runs are on base winning run digging in at the plate in the form of gunar Henderson yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they go out and talk to Klay Holmes settle him down a little bit there goes Matt Blake it's just never easy is it I mean the Orioles could not have asked for a better situation here I me this is playing right into their hands their best and hottest hitter at the plate their biggest power threat as the winning run in a two-run game and Ben you got to be sitting Dead red right right you got holes that hadn't been able to get over his slider I think if you're Henderson you're sitting all over the fastball and Holmes can sink it in there pretty good now so you want to see that Sinker start just above the knees don't attack the one at the knees cuz you know it's going to fall out of the Zone gun Henderson's a really good lowball hitter like most lefties are but this kind of plays right into what he likes to do having a pretty good year leads Major League Baseball run scor third at homers see where he is in slugging total bases and War he is number one in all of Major League Baseball here we go first and second in a two-run game with one out last of the ninth first offering to Henderson misses off the plate the Homer came against Carlos rone in the third and flipped the score giving Baltimore a two to1 lead good pitch and a better take by Henderson not one you're going to hit hard right there right also you got to make Holmes throw a strike he's been all over the map with the fast ball in the slider oh that one squirted out of his hand and still found the strike zone what a left turn that pitch took anything turn like that ought to have a blinker on it I mean look at that thing turn I mean Henderson sees it out of the hand it's a ball out of the hand cuz it's starting off the plate and it just quickly took a hard left Rutman waiting next two and two now this is where the pitch clock really is that a deficit for a closer even a pitcher when you start to get into trouble there's really no time to step off and try to gather yourself no Mount visits for the Yankees left and Henderson's rung up on a ball on the corner that's what they call a shadow strike one could have gone either way clip just enough of the zone for Holmes to get his punch out yeah two of them in this bat that sinking fast ball catches the outside part of the box to breaking ball a couple of pitches before that was just below the bottom of the zone so two really guaranteed but I would think it is that made it easy pitch that was well outside and now the bases are loaded I mean if you had I thought we had some drama 10 minutes ago tying run moves into scoring position the winning runs on base and it's all up to Ryan mountcastle Fay Holmes has put himself in a tough spot two gone last of the ninth and a two-run [Music] game Mount Castle thought that ball was in yeah I thought that was in as well that's off the plate stow oarn and Rutman aboard with two away last of the ninth lost his back goodness boy that could have really hurt somebody in the yany Dugout it broke broke in half yeah it broke way down on the handle too wow that's a nasty Sinker watch this bat just explode and that first pitch that slider that called that was called for a strike it just changes the whole La back if you're Mount CLE yeah you go from being aggressive to being kind of in protection mode is what you are cuz you got to shorten up try to put a ball in play you put a ball in play and it finds the Outfield grasp very well could have a tie game M Castle bounces it to vulpi who has a trouble finding the handle gets it to Second too late a run scores everybody's safe and it's a one-run game in the night and you usually don't see that from Anthony FY he let that ball play him instead of being aggressive on it it looked to me that he was a little timid on that ground ball yeah it looked like to me he backed up Nelly instead of coming forward and being aggressive looked like he took a few chop steps backwards right there never really got the Rhythm see the ball come up hit the heel of the glove and never had time to C collect the out at second base maybe took his eye off of it looking for Tores Torres to get over to second so now Cedric Mullins making his first plate appearance of the game came on as a pinch runner back in the eighth no more breathing room for clay Holmes Mullins to left Verdugo started in and the Orioles are going to win it oh my welcome to Club said well I was about to say if this ended it might have been the biggest win for the Yankees of the season so far hey this might be the biggest win for the Orioles this season Instead This is the biggest win for the Orioles instead no doubt about it Cedric Mullins in first and bat of the day and I agree with you I think Verdugo took a jab step in and when he tried to back up and Retreat on this ball he slipped down ball game it's over his head Orioles score three runs in the ninth inning to walk off the Yankees what a way to get into the All-Star break what a game two defensive players for the Yankees Verdugo a very good left fielder and also vuli a gold glove Short Stop cost the Yankees a game and that was the first base hit of the day for the Orioles with a runner in scoring position and it was a big one I mean we've seen some wild ninth innings in Major League Baseball before the allstar break the Padres and Diamondbacks had a crazy ninth inning a few Fridays ago this is right there with that one a three-run homer by rookie Ben rice in the top of the inning to give the Yankees a two-run lead and Baltimore battles back in the bottom half to earn a six to5 win I mean how about this two of the best closers in the game both blow save today you don't see that see that either you're absolutely right don't see that every day Cedric Mullins right here gets looks like a little bit of a fast ball just kind of working away from him right there and he just kind of inside outs it and shoves it out the left field look at the couple of jab steps in by Verdo didn't get a great read on that ball and he tried to back up and no chance ball gets over his head and game over well the Oro suit had such a hard time stringing together big Innings a great lineup that had gone cold it Finds Its footing again in one inning and the birds will get into the allstar break in first place with an emotional win over their biggest rival that's [Applause]
