CBS sports HQ guess what? Just one more sleep until the NFL season begins. But on Sunday, on CBS, we have six NFL matches and we have six elite guys getting you ready. This year. We're starting at 10 a.m. eastern and also joining the team. Two time Super Bowl champ Logan Ryan. So we've already put Logan to work ahead of Sunday. And we asked him for his postseason predictions. There are all the question marks there. I'm going to give you a couple of clues here. Three teams out of the AFC East and the NFC Eagles not only pushing past the Cowboys. The Cowboys missing out on the postseason entirely. So let's welcome in Logan Ryan along with Pete Prisco here. You're going to be with him on Sunday. This is y'all's first segment together. It is I can't wait man I'm looking forward to it I love those Sundays we sit and watch games and we do a pregame show, and we talk a lot about football and we give each other a lot of crap. Are you going to be nice to Logan? Because this is your first time together? Of course not. Of course he's going to be. No, we will have so much fun. We've already kind of texted back and forth. It's going to be fun. All right, Logan, let's get into it. We're going to start with the AFC. I'm going to tell you the teams you have getting in right now. The Ravens Texans, Chiefs, Jets, Bengals, Dolphins and bills. However you have the Jets I want to talk about the AFC East, the Jets winning it. But the bills and the Dolphins also getting in. Walk us through this. Yeah I love the AFC East. The Jets. Let's start with the Jets. Aaron Rodgers is back. When he plays he wins. They have a top defense top three defense in the NFL. Robert Saleh is a defensive head coach. That's what he knows. He's coming from that San Francisco system. He knows defense. He does not know offense. Aaron Rodgers knows the offense. So instantly you give the Jets an offense a top ten offense. They're making the playoffs. They're winning that division. The bills I like look I like the Jets. I'm with I'm with him I think they're going to be a deep playoff team. In fact I have them going into the playoffs and getting to the championship game. I don't have them winning the division. I have Buffalo and you know I'm always on Buffalo. I think this bills team is being undersold a little bit. So I'm I'm against them on that one. I think Buffalo wins the division. He clearly likes Buffalo as well because he has them in the postseason. What about the Dolphins because Logan you got the Dolphins sneaking in there as well. Yeah the Dolphins continue to get better from year to year. I think Tua has a coach that loves them. He feels like he knows that system. It's another year in it. Obviously we know what Tyreek Hill can do. Jaylen Waddle they brought Poyer over there in the secondary I think if they get healthy last year they lost some pass rushers. If they stay healthy I don't see how you don't have the Dolphins getting in. I don't see how with the bills lost Pete how you put them over the Dolphins or the Jets. I mean he doesn't have the receivers that he had. Josh Allen that is when he was going toe to toe with Mahomes. He doesn't have the weapons. Well he doesn't have Stefon Diggs. And that might be addition by subtraction because Stefon Diggs didn't do anything in the last ten games of the season. Look at his numbers. And all he did was call for the ball. Call for the ball. He was a major distraction. I think they'll be fine. Kincaid is going to catch about 125 passes this season for the bills. When you look at the Dolphins, here's my problem with the Dolphins. I don't know. And you probably said this when you were in New England. At times I don't know if they're tough enough. The Miami Dolphins are pretty. They're fun. They're exciting, and they're great to watch. In September and October. But when it comes time to play real football in December and on into January, I don't know if the Miami Dolphins are tough enough. And that's where I have a problem with the Dolphins. I don't even have them making the playoffs. Logan, I got to ask you, when you were in New England, did you guys make fun of the Dolphins players? Were they soft? I wouldn't say they were soft. Listen, it was tough in New England going down to Miami in December. And it's tough for Buffalo and it's tough for a lot of those outdoor teams in the northeast going down now it's tough for Dolphins to go up there as well. So that's what it is. But they just have too much talent. They have too much of an offensive guru as a as a, you know, as a head coach. And this is a points driven league. You got to you got to generate points. And I'm not saying the Dolphins are going to win the Super Bowl, or the Dolphins are going to do a ton of damage in the playoffs, but the Dolphins are finishing top two in that division. The cold is tough. The humidity is tough. You guys clearly agree on the order of the teams in the AFC East. Let's go over to the NFC Logan Ryan. We're asking him for his postseason predictions. He has the 40 Niners as the number one overall seed there. The Eagles, the Packers, the Bucs, the Rams, the Lions and the Falcons. Logan what we want to focus on the NFC South. That is the division that is up for grabs. But you have both the Bucs and the Falcons getting in. How is that. Yeah this was a toss up for me man because you can't sleep on the Bucs Todd Bowles had a great year last year and he brought all his stars back. They got they got Tristan Werstine. They got Antoine Winfield high speed. They got Mike Evans Hall of Famer by the way coming back Chris Godwin is another year healthier off the ACL. They have their quarterback in. Baker Mayfield is not a QB battle anymore. They know that he's the guy. And Liam Cohen comes over who. Baker Mayfield has experience with. So Todd Bowles is a defense strategist. He's a genius on the defensive side of the ball and the Bucs win that division every year. I played for the Bucs right over there. And and you know, he knows exactly what he's doing. And I think you can't root against the Bucs. But the Falcons are better right. Kirk Cousins helps the Falcons a lot. It gives their playmakers a chance. So I have them squeaking in as well. You said before this segment he was going to go a little chalky. Is this where it begins or are we waiting for further along in the postseason. No, this isn't chalky at all. In fact, I agree with him on the Bucs. When you look at the Bucs, they're loaded and they have a great mix of young and old. And Baker Mayfield, those players love him. He mentioned Todd Bowles. They're going to be aggressive on defense. I think their speed is going to be much more evident. They got guys in shape. Was 400 pounds supposedly last year. He's down to 360. That's important. They're going to be a better football team. I love the Bucs. I don't think the Falcons are making the playoffs, so I differ with him on that one. But I think the Bucs win the division. What about some fringe teams here? And I want to stay in the NFC because you have the Eagles winning the NFC East. So that's I mean how many years has it been since we've seen a repeat winner. Yeah it's been I think it's like what 20. It's long. It's been a long time. You're going with the Eagles not only to win that division but you don't have the Cowboys making it into the postseason. Where are they on that fringe list for you Logan I just don't see the Cowboys game I don't know what they gained this offseason. We saw what they continue to do in the playoffs. And they are a great regular season team. And I think Dak Prescott is a really, really good quarterback. However, when you talk about playoffs right as a player I always think about winning my division. The Cowboys are not better than the Eagles. They are not winning that division. They might finish number two in that division because it's a weak division. But I have other teams in the AFC with a better record than them. Let's look at the Cowboys out of conference schedule. They play the AFC North Bengals Browns Ravens Steelers. How many games are they winning out of that. And then oh we also randomly play the 40 Niners. You're not being the 40 niners and the Texans. That's not another team that you just want to play with randomly. So those are six AFC games outside of your division which is an easy division. But you have six AFC games that are tough games for the Dallas for the Dallas Cowboys I don't see the running game. They got CeeDee, CeeDee lamb back. The offensive line is getting older. I don't see how Dallas just all of a sudden makes the playoffs because they're Dallas Cowboys. So he doesn't have the Cowboys making the postseason because of a tough schedule. They didn't get any better, but the Eagles, we still have a lot of questions for them as to why they fell apart at the end of the season. Coming from a defensive guy, they were terrible on defense last year. The Eagles were awful and I know they addressed it by drafting some guys and the Mitchell the quarterback's going to be a good player. But when you look at that defense, they have big they have to make major strides to become anything close to being a good defense. And I know Vic Fangio takes over. He's a tough guy, defensive coordinator. He'll get them playing better, but how much better? Plus there's all the friction between the coach and the quarterback. And now they have a new system. He's basically playing in a new offense. So with Kellen Moore there. So it's a bunch of change I think the Cowboys friction between Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts more and Jalen Hurts, Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni, you know and so here. And so I think Cowboys win the division. That's me all right. They differ there. Let's go to the Super Bowl Logan you have the 40 Niners and the Ravens making it with the 40 Niners coming out on top. That means no Chiefs no three peat. Why do you have the 40 Niners and the Ravens making it with the 40 Niners winning I play with the 40 niners. And especially going into this year they're the best team on paper. They got it all done I don't know how they continue to do it. We got it done right Trent Williams is coming back. Let's talk about Brock Purdy. My MVP candidate by the way. I'm sure that's going to be another segment. And I'm going to tell you why he's not coming off the elbow issue. He's not coming off a declaring if it's his starting job right. He's earned that right. He's had a healthy offseason. Christian McCaffrey is coming back. Offensive player of the year. We know Deebo is in a in a contract year. George doesn't have that much time left right. And defensively they have Fred Warner who's one of the best defensive players in football with all the stars around him. I think the 40 Niners are by far the best team in the NFC, and I think the Ravens were one of the best teams last year in football, which we know Lamar Jackson does not have to be MVP. Lamar Jackson anymore. He has Derrick Henry, another former teammate of I. So nothing gets better than him having to hand the ball off and taking a play off and Derrick getting 6 or 7 yards a carry. I think Derrick is the perfect addition. They have a great defense they have and that will remind them to be physical when it's time to play. The Chiefs in the playoffs again. I have the Ravens in 49 with the 40 Niners winning it and finally getting it done. I'm surprised he doesn't have the Patriots playing. He's picking all the teams that he played for. I mean you have the Patriots. Where are they I don't see them anywhere I mean when you look when you look at this the 49 ers are loaded. He's not wrong. But they are. There's a very big difference. But he played with them last year. So he's got some recency bias. We have some video of that too. Do we do. Let's see it. Don't you think a guy who's played with them would know the players best. Would know what their standards are, would know what the expectations are? I mean Pete's talking from behind the desk for how many years I just came off the field. I think I might know a little bit about football and who's ready to play in Sundays. And I know a little bit about Super Bowls. I only played in three of them. You know what? You know what? You know what I always say to that when they say that to me? I never directed a movie, but I know it's good on the screen. I never, ever was a five star. I never was a I never was a five star chef. But I know what a good meal is. I've been around this game a long time. I look, I love the 40 niners. I think they're great and I didn't pick them to go to the Super Bowl. They probably should have lost to the Packers last year. They probably should have lost to the Lions last year. If Dan Campbell doesn't make those bonehead decisions at the end of the game, so they are one of the best teams. I have him as the number one seed because I don't think the division is great, but I don't have them going to the Super Bowl. You know who I have going to the Super Bowl? Yeah, which is ridiculous. The green Bay Packers and they're going to win it all. When are you not going to pick the Packers to win it all this year? Logan we're going to go out and we're going to show everybody's like who they have winning. You obviously have the 40 Niners. But what do you think about Pete picking the Packers to win the Super Bowl? I guess he saw an almost win in a divisional game last year, which means that they're going to go to the Super Bowl this year. I just I don't see it it because they made the Cowboys look terrible. I don't see that. I think it's a little too soon. I think, you know, Pete's watching too much hard knocks and get too excited about offseason stories. And we're quickly quick to crown Jordan Love. But he is not he's not processing out there at the level that that Purdy is. And I say time will tell. We shall see. Me and Pete have a lot of time together that you do. And this is a reason to watch on Sundays. Logan. We appreciate it. A lot of great stuff. They're getting us ready for the NFL season. It is week one. Taking a look at our experts who they picked to win. There is Pete picking the Packers. Didn't you pick him last season and the season before. No you picked the Chiefs pick of the season I didn't pick him okay. By the way Logan picks the 40 Niners. He played for the 40 Niners. Roger picks the Jets. He played for the Jets Kyle picks the Chiefs. He played for the Chiefs. At least Bmac didn't pick the Steelers. Yeah that's true.
