the Green Bay Packers are taking a significant gamble by placing their trust in kicker Braden narison as the team gears up for what they believe could be another Super Bowl run they are relying on a dynamic offense spearheaded by Jordan love complimented by a group of young talented receivers on the defensive side the Packers have assembled a formidable unit filled with first round Talent under the guidance of their new defensive coordinator Jeff Halley this combination makes Green Bay a serious contender against any team in the NFL especially within the NFC however despite the strengths of this roster it's clear that general manager Brian ginst hasn't put together a Flawless team one blaring issue remains unresolved the situation at kicker this position is arguably the biggest uncertainty for Green Bay particularly considering that a single successful or missed field goal can be the deciding factor in a playoff Journey after a disappointing rookie season the Packers decided to part ways with their second gear kicker Anders Carlson his performance during training camp did little to justify his selection as a sixth round pick in the 2023 draft to challenge him the Packers initially brought in veteran kicker Greg Joseph but he was released shortly after making the initial 53 man roster the team ultimately decided to take a chance on undrafted rookie Braden narison who had recently been cut by the Tennessee Titans after spending the preseason with them narison was claimed off waivers by the Packers due to his promising potential he impressed during the preseason successfully converting six of his seven field goal attempts including a 59 Yer during his time at NC State narison made 18 of 23 field goals with a long of 57 yards and he was perfect on all 38 of his extra point attempts this consistency particularly in converting extra points weakness for Carlson who missed five last season makes narison an appealing option despite his potential relying on an impr proven rookie during a critical Super Bowl window is a considerable risk a single field goal could be the difference between advancing in the playoffs or facing an early exit the Packers are well aware of how crucial kicking can be in tight Playoff scenarios last season they suffered a heartbreaking loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC divis divisional round Falling by just a field goal in that game Carlson made two of his three attempts but missed a 41 yd field goal with 621 left in the fourth quarter had he made that kick the Packers would have taken a 24- 17 lead instead they ended up losing 24 to 21 a bitter reminder of how crucial a reliable kicker is in the postseason and placing their hopes on narison the Packers are taking a bold and potentially precarious step one that could either solidify their Super Bowl aspirations or become a costly miscalculation
