The music you've just been listening to is courtesy of this little yellow box. It's called La Grotte, and it's a collaboration between ana Sounds from France and Third Man Hardware, who you might know better as Jack White's company. La Grotte is an analog spring reverb pedal, and you can see the springs just through there. Controls are super simple, you've got a bypass switch, you've got controls for the EQ low and high, and a dry mix and a wet mix. On the top of the pedal, there's nine volts for power and in and out jack sockets. And the preamp in this is based on the Tampco Tone Oven. Doesn't just give you a warm reverb, it can get super gritty, and you've already heard it in that intro track. The guitar was going through La Grotte into the Fender Deluxe Reverb. And without the La Grotte, this is what the guitar sounded like. So this is far more than just a reverb. To me, it's a sort of Fender tweed amp in a box. Let's get some strat in the action. See if it surfs straight away. It does indeed surf but it's quite dark. So let's see if I can stop that with it with these EQ controls. It's fun. And some of you might be questioning why run a reverb pedal like this through
a deluxe reverb when you've got reverb on the amp to different kind of reverb. There's grits, there's aggression there that that can have, but at high volumes, and there's more control over this. All right, I'm going to do my top five tones with La Grotte. Or is it the La Grotte? I'm probably mispronouncing that terribly. So apologies, ana sounds and Jack White, but um, that's all I got. I'm almost speechless. I've added a little bit of reverb in there just to give it some
space but take that reverb out and you've got an amazing overdrive. That's an amazing overdrive. Okay, um, let's do some something with a bit more reverb in this reverb pedal. Sometimes reviewing a pedal can be difficult and I have
to get into the pedal and figure out what it does. And while this pedal does is just make guitar sound good and makes me happy. I love this guitar by the way, this is the fender player series. It's nothing like over the top strat. But that through this pedal just sounds glorious. And of course that the amp but I hope you're listening on
headphones or something because that is spacious and I feel in it. It's dynamic. I feel like a cliche right now but man is that fun. So I'm going to try and push the fun further by adding
a fuzz pedal before this river but see what happens. Let's turn the fuzz off for a moment. And then without the reverb fuzz is good on its own
with the with the look corruptor sounds even better. There's maybe a tad too much reverb there. But yeah, I've got to show what the pedal does. Let's change guitars for some humbuckers. It's an extremely creative pedal. I like it with that fuzz that I did before. But even that preamp on its own is amazing. It is kind of hard to control the volume of like I want the grits
but everything's getting considerably louder when I grit it up. So if I had some way of controlling some master volume or something, that would be cool. But I'm interested to know how jack white uses
this because it's been seen on his board. And if you don't recognize this pedal in this format is because this is
the limited edition one in yellow and there's the regular one in black. I think it's the inverse of this. And this fuzz is a kit that I built if anyone's interested. It's based on a Tascam four track channel. So you're just driving an analog recorder. I'm having an amazing time. I normally save my thoughts for later, but I'm feeding them back to you as I'm getting it. It's, it's one of those pedals that is that can be used over the top, which I'm enjoying.
