EA College Football Simulations Game 19 Kennesaw State @UTSA (8/31/24 Prediction)

welcome to San Antonio Texas and remember the Alamo Dome is home to the road runners of UTSA and we are fired up to get this game underway we've got a terrific match up for you today rich in pentry and tradition and it ought to be a fantastic clash as we'll see a squad from Conference USA the Kenesaw State owls taking on a team from the AAC the UTSA road runners for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it going the road runners will kick it off to get us underway and he passes on the Touchback here he comes he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so Kennesaw State's offense will have the first possession of the game and there he is to this team's fans he is a heroic figure he is the guy who can lead them to the promised land this guy has been in big games in big moments and he's delivered for his football team it never seems like a situation is just too big for him this obviously is a huge game I cannot wait to see this guy compete well these wide receivers work the middle of the field so much of this field understanding where the holes are in the zone or understanding how to get leverage on a man and these wide receivers are dangerous nowadays because they do it so fast and see that so quick and make those plays over the middle they'll leave it with him discards him with the stiff arm he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down I am impressed with the physicality we're seeing up front by this offensive line playing on the road they knew they wanted to get the Run game established and they are doing just that they're not just getting three four yards a pop they are gashing this defense the offense setting up shop at the 46 first and 10 he'll pull it on the read stop is made at the 36 but he picked up 10 on that one and has a fresh set of downs well this is one of the fastest quarterbacks in college football and that's why the option's a good idea because if he can get out in space and he has a chance to get down field he is really difficult to tackle and he's very difficult to catch as you saw in that last play getting a first down give to the running back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and defense nowadays they don't look at stats of what is the yards per rush they look at how many negative plays they can create cuz why now you look at second down man it just became very predictable for this offense nice job creating the loss on first down after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 fighting off the defender showed off just about every move in the book except the forward move stopped for a short gain and a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those defensive backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses too right it's not just D linan and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DBS that are willing to not just cover but tackle backs in the open field fires to the tight end he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit shter I think early in the game you can really set the toone you got the completion you set up a manageable fourth down situation do I want to be aggressive do I want to show them I'm willing to go for it on fourth down I got a great opportunity right here this offense wants to get out of the gate fast on their first drive of the game plus territory they'll go for it on fourth down and he's knocked down but not before moving the chains you've got to be loving what you're seeing from your offense here on the opening drive of this game they are in a really nice Rhythm they've got real good balance going on right now and they've got the defense on their Heels kenesa state coming out with another first down they're looking to pass from the Red Zone got it and he's into into the end zone you don't give a hoot kenas state does Touchdown owls you want to talk about a great way to start the game and set the tone early it's so nice to have a quarterback just get himself into the game and get himself established you make a couple throws you lead your offense down the field you score right off the bat could not have been a better start for that QB they'll try to attack one more on their score and he's got the extra point and it's 7 nothing to start this one so a scoring drive there of 83 yds and they closed the deal with a 20yd pass for Six about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown the returner will field it and try to set up his offense in great field position couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 so the UTSA road runners offense will try to get something started with their first possession here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play well they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed and the road runners will hustle to the line grabbed behind the line it's Clark didn't pick up a bot there moving it Forward just a few I don't know if that's the coverage you want to be throwing wide receiver screens against often times you want the receivers to have some access you want the DBS to be off a couple yards so you can help set up the blocks and give the receivers somewhere to go with it it's hard to run that against press coverage and they only picked up a few yards there back to pass it's maau C open down the middle and they'll get it to the 39 yd line and they'll move the chains you know you don't see a lot of hitch throws against third down but if you're going to give the receiver access like that the quarterback's going to take it that was just way too easy from the 39 yd line it's first and 10 used the play fake now to throw and and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete he didn't have a whole lot of time to get rid of that one the defense was all over him right after the snap no wonder that thing felling and after the incompletion on first down this offense looking at second down looking for a crease it's bar turns it on in Midfield they wrestle him to the ground but he's got PL for a first down you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack Domina at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first down the road runners are moving quickly down the field motion by the back forces the defense to adjust he's going to let one fly down the middle oh right through his hands they came out attacking wanted to impose their will and they missed a big chance on that one and the offense clearly saying we want to take those deep shots we want to be aggressive and and I think that's a good strategy because makes the defense really honor what you're going to do and just missed a little bit but I wouldn't be surprised if this offense finds a way to come back to some of those deep bones he's not afraid to go deep touch down UT San Antonio made the grab and finish the deal in the end zone and I think in the pre- snap I think both of these guys were on the same page they had a look defensively that let them know we can pitch this thing way down the field I'm going to go run under and make a big play for it yeah and when I'm the receiver I'm like I'm open right I'm I'm going straight down the field thr me the football I got the speed I can beat this guy you can tell they've done that so much in practice they knew it was second nature and they executed it perfectly getting set for the point after splits the upright that is an efficient drive seven plays 75 yds and they close the deal from 43 yds out with a touchdown pass all tied up in just about set to kick it away he'll take the return and try to improve the field position he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 guys we're about to see this kenas state offense go back to work and David how they would love to stick it it and the pressure gets him back at the 8 yd line often times with play action you're asking the quarterback to hold on the ball a bit longer and you're asking this offensive line to hold up and pass Pro a bit longer against this athletic front s on defense it's going to be tough got some work to do here on second and eight from the 20 to throw it's Bryson unloads it downfield how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion you know it's so important for Corners to be able to transition right you got to have real loose hips you got to be able to change direction on a dime and in zone coverage when you see the ball thrown you can break on it and forcing completions like that not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 the sweet feet byy a little time he'll pull it down across the 25 he's got room he gets the job done picking up the first down then getting down and you're seeing here the difficulties defenses have trying to contain this guy if you leave a lane open or you don't sack him right away and you allow him to get outside the pocket he is going to take off and he is very difficult to tackle in the open field he's got running back likeability out in space looking to move it through the air he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down the quick passing game does several things one it doesn't let the pass rush get you those great defensive linemen the ball's coming out so fast they can't get there and then what else it gets me ahead of the sticks I don't have to worry about getting in Long yardage and predictable situations after that last completion it's second down they'll give it to the back at Midfield he's got room oh look out that is exactly what you want to do with the football he's got it all the way down to the 15 yd line man oh man contact was optional it was like the back was engaging in a lot of social distancing or something yeah that was way too easy defense is about funneling the ball to the unblocked Defender you could tell they didn't have a clue what was going on they got to get the ball turned you can't let them run north south and try to get him downhill like that especially with that kind of speed kenas State coming out with another first down they'll ride the hot hand they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and a great job by the linebacker you can tell starting to crowd the line of scrimmage get up there in the line of scriage see it diagnose it get in the back field get the running back on the ground for the tackle for the loss last play didn't go well it leaves him with second and 11 they'll Run play action quarterback on the Move still looking and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 what a great play by the defensive tackle look sacks aren't just for very athletic long defensive ends these D tackles man they use their strength they push linan back in the pocket collapse it and come away with the sack [Music] seventh play of the drive coming up but a long way to go on third down he's looking downfield to throw going to try to pop one on the screen not a whole lot of room there on that screen passes it just never developed you got to love that on defense one of the most critical statistics out there is how do you play on third down how do you prevent the opponent from keeping drives alive right there tackling the catch you gave up the completion whoop-de-doo you set up fourth and long you're going to get the ball back go get some water and celebrate and it's right down the Boulevard and with that field goal they now have the lead [Music] so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 UTSA will take over and the offense ready to return to the field on the move at the 30 and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop defense is going to have their hands full trying to stop this guy they better rally to the football and get multiple hats cuz he is not easy to bring down and the road runners come to the line in the hurry up looking to throw it's maau and the timing just a hair off here comes the offense on second down gets it out fast that'll be a gain of about seven leaves him with third and three well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a rhythm they started this drive with a big play but now they need a conversion to keep it alive on third down they'll try to get it through the air and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up great job by the defense there they weren't surprised by that play call there on Third and short they were expecting pass they took everything away and forced the incompletion this is the absolute right call they're going for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down takes a shot as he throws and it never had a chance incomplete offense getting set for first down to the ground with the back makes a man miss six- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four off off the play fake lets it Fly hits him inside the 20 still going The Tackle is made but he's got it first and goal from the six man this offense is so dangerous Reese they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels they ripped off a huge chunk and now a little chunk is needed to pay it off they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the most insightful analysis I can come up with on that one is that didn't work back to the drawing board to see if there's something that works a little better soon don't if I can quot the Great Davis that was very UNG good not a productive first down play defense rose up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming it's looking like they're going to have to try to throw this one into the end zone here on third down David quarterback's got to be careful can't get greedy cuz you know these windows they close fast extremely tight Windows find your big body guys that you know can win in contested situations here on third down it's still third and goal back to pass it's Bryson unleashes to the endzone and he's got it touchdown owls wow what a play we got we're going to need to see that again to make sure he makes this catch and gets the foot in bounds that was a great acrobatic play understanding where you're out on the field to make that big catch [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point they're now up by a touchdown and a field goal at 10 personal fouling the kick defense the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty the kickoff team on the field and he ought to just boom this thing through the end zone with that extra 15 yds on the penalty no chance for a return as that ball flies out of the back of the end zone the offense lining up for a first down play from the gun they'll try to impose their will it's amazing how play by a defensive end in the back field can really swing the momentum not only of a series but of a game sometimes all you're trying to do is create negative plays to get them behind the sticks a little bit to get those sacks to get those tackles for a losses you see so much stunting in college football up front with the defensive line because you know once you get one of those plays you got the offense right where you want getting that push a pick up of four out to the 26 and as an offense having success on a run play like that early in the game just opens up all the possibilities of your playbook moving forward play action running the ball throwing the ball screens anything is at your disposal at this point the road runners want to pick up the tempo back to throw it's maau they're setting up the screen they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back great job too by the QB there holding the ball as long long as possible allowing the pass rush to get up field and at the very last second getting it to his guide so that he can go get the first down the back goes in motion wants to throw on first down off the play fake and this will be incomplete a big hit there for his second down my job is to make sure that ball comes loose and I got to go through that guy guy use my shoulder pad drive my feet really really be physical cuz if he bobbles it at all or as soon as his hand gets to the ball you can tell the difference when that body jerks forward and that ball starts to come loose and pop out good job to avoid the negative play and just get rid of that thing third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off back to the air one more time just threw that one away to avoid disaster and offensively we know it's hard throwing the ball in third and long situations because the defense can play Big Zone coverages they got a lot of guys with their eyes on you so the QB had no shot there nobody open nice job not forcing it not risking a turnover just throwing it away and the road runners will send out the punt unit this will be their first punt of the afternoon not able to pop the big return but they've got the ball back in ready to go with a fresh possession guys we'll get another look at this Kennesaw State offense now sliding to his left they finally get him on the ground but not before he rips off enough for a first down I love the bootleg right away out of the quarterback why get him outside the pocket now when he's that Dynamic that fast you get him out there quick you get him in space now you got to bring this athlete to the ground with an option to pass the football really really hard on defenses quarterback on the keeper nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry nice job by the defense there getting a stop on the back behind the line of scrimmage we know they've been burned a few times early in this game by the QB run but they weren't going to let it happen there couldn't get him blocked on that last one now it's second and 14 they'll try to pop the draw defense closed down quickly after a gain of three they'll mark it at the 32 time winding down in the quarter as they come to the line to the air it's Bryson looking to scramble they get him on the ground and with that we'll head to the second quarter at the end of the quarter it's Kennesaw State on top really strong performance so far to be able to build a lead here in the first period as we look at the steps they largely dominated the first quarter and built a nice lead to get started kesa state will have to putt this one away no return coming he'll call for the fair catch UTSA takes over and the offense ready to hit the field they hope to be able to cash in on this drive David after having to punt it last time yeah and I think this offense needs to started with the first play you need to be successful and productive on that first play and it gets you in less predictable situations no doubt too don't you just feel like there's a little bit more sense of urgency on this drive it just feels like they've got to be able to put some points up on the board here the road runners want to move quickly he's back to throw on second down keeps looking downfield and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 it has been said that the other team's quarterback must go down and he must go down hard and he did and often is good too the most you can get to him but great job by the defense rushing the quarterback understanding pass and getting the big fell on the ground this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long looking to throw and he needs a bunch get it out on the screen Rams him with the stiff arm hey man sometimes you get the perfect play call at the perfect time that time the defense blitzing offensive line allowed everybody to run up field and they slip in the running back screen and behind it there was nobody there to make a tackle and this offense generates a massive play and the road runners will line it up on First and 10 the give to the tail back nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry I'll tell you this defensive end not only can he pass rush but he can play the run as well you see him beat the offensive lineman there trying to block him and get in the back field to make that tackle for loss that was impressive couldn't get him blocked on that last one now it's second and 14 back to throw it's maau makes the grab over the middle and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end one of the things that makes this guy so dangerous is how good he is after the catch if he's got any space around him he's able to burst he's able to make people miss and get extra yards for his offense you saw it right there a little pre- snap eye candy for the defense working that left side now nice Patience by the quarterback here working against Zone coverage he was allowing his receiver an opportunity to find that open space in the defense before pulling the trigger they want to get this defense on its heels going to run it it's Barnes he showed it all there a little lucidness a little power and he's got the first down it's so hard to play defense when you've got things in front of you everybody going One Direction somebody coming back the other direction you can't trust your eyes really good job by the offense giving you some High candy something to look at so it wasn't easy coming downhill right at you hard to diagnose plays off play action on first down lets it fly deep downfield and it was worth going for a chunk play but the long pass is incomplete bad news on that play it's an incompletion the good news is the quarterback knew if his guy wasn't going to catch it nobody was with that ball Landing out of bounds they've put this ball on lock down eighth play of the drive coming up after the incompletion back to the passing game and he just flat dropped it I think he wanted to run before he secured it well he did a good job getting to the middle of the field that's where the offense wanted to attack on that play he's just got to do a better job looking that football in this drive was clicking along but after a couple of misfires threatening to stall out on Third and 10 dropping back it's maau fires to the wide out got his man he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense this dude is just exceptional in every facet so fluid such a great route Runner and a big play there and money down third down find him I mean you want to find that matchup because he's going to win and gets a good release gets down the field that you see his that's your playmaker that's your guy get it to him get the first down they've marched to the Red Zone and here they go with the catch it's McCoy well it's a nice job by the defender they're closing the Gap with the wide receiver they're going to complete the hitch pass but he's able to run right up on him get him to the ground for a minimal game the road runners are in the hurry up on second down wants to throw just had to get rid of that one good job to avoid the loss really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to set for the field goal wants to throw on third down they get to him as he throws he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming you got to be able to Blitz but get home it's one thing to Blitz just to Blitz but you got to find a way slip through those cracks nice job by the defense the QB had no clue he was hanging in there trying to be tough got hit as he threw the football forced the in completion fourth down baby it's good and that was dead solid perfect [Music] so after the last Drive ended with a field goal the kickoff team out there to send it away what kind of field position can he help them with on the return didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys we're about to see this Kenesaw State offense go back to work now they'll run the draw and they'll stop him just short of the first down just inches away from moving the sticks draws and screens are great way to slow down really aggressive pass rushers it allows the defensive ends and the defensive tackles to run up field the offensive lineman kind of push him up field go down to the next level try to sneak in a big play looking for a man it's Bryson he finds his man out to the 36 yd line after gaining 10 on that one yeah you throw a little hitch route nice job getting the ball out of his hands quickly wide receiver quarterback nice job being on the same page nice completion nice catch they'll snap it from the 36 they've got a first down hand off from the shotgun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three so first down didn't exactly go according to plan let's see what they can dial up on on second down reys I got him right where I want him okay I'm going to throw the football now I can get back in shotgun forget the running game stuff we're going to play a little pitch and catch and see how good that secondary is off play action scrambling Away really nice stop there from this senior leader well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nor the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air the quarterback scrambled around with the defense able to scramble him and turn it into a sack on Third and long you know what's coming that's exactly where you want to get it offense the passing game has to come out you go nickel bring some more speed on the field and the defensive line gets home and gets the sack to force the fourth down kenesa state will have to punt this one away slips through the line he was hoping for a little more Running Room but they're able to get him down at the 45 UTSA will take over in the off defense ready to return to the field Jesse they had to kick a field goal the last time they had it yeah and often times early in games you're just trying to find your Rhythm some things work some don't on that first drive David it' be interesting to see what happens here in the second Drive yeah you got to feel for the defense now you understand what they're trying to do what their game plan is now you get to go into phase two of your game plan and the road runners moving quickly to the line looking to pass it's maau pressure coming nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down yeah and you don't see very many quarterback hits on screens you know the offense wants to Bluff real quick and make it look like pass and then the quarterback supposed to pop up look like pass and quickly get rid of you could tell timing all wrong it was all jacked up and that play went absolutely nowhere they tried to go Smashmouth on Third and short and it did not work against this defense keep the foot on the pedal if you're on offense here you got that yardage yeah you didn't get the first down but you've set yourself up now to go for it here and keep this drive alive the road runners send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away punt goes out of bounds and a really nice job as they stick them Deep In Their Own and they'll mark it around the 10 one man in the back field and he gets it not much there he gets one to the 11 Run game is good balance is good now listen if the Run game isn't good then you got to pass the football a little bit more but sometimes you got to keep them honest take them chunk by chunk didn't get much on first down it's second and nine Le it with the running back fouls through the defense what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down you know you start day one of training camp running your base runs you need a few yards you run these plays you need a first down you run these plays you rep them over and over and over again they're not sexy they're not pretty but in the end they're effective and they get you that new set of downs when you need them they're getting this guy lathered up he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple you can't let the same guy beat you over and over and over again you got to make adjustments sometimes you got to bring more guys in the Box more guys to the football and make sure he's not the one who beats you after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 after run run run now throw makes a connection good call good execution as they move the chains and they have a first down at the 38 this offense is clicking everything working together really well coordinator quarterback offensive line good Rhythm good flow defense is going to have to find something to kind of mess up this timing they got going on this kenesa state offense is on the Move coming out on first down with the play fake throws for the tight end it's caught now they're starting to feel it they've got a first down at the 44 my goodness this offense has got it roll they might put up a 50 Burger this defense they don't have any answers right now they're going to have to figure something out kenesa State coming out with another first down the give and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine when with the running game on first down now back at it looking to throw it's Bryson got his man downfield put it right on him sweet play good pickup and they'll move the change with the first down oh man did he turned that one loose and fired it into the teeth of the zone and you know as a quarterback Reese when you're throwing it to the perimeter of the field on these curl routes you've got to have some heat you've got to have arm talent to get that ball out quickly into the hands of your receiver before all those Defenders can get to it man this QB's got a C that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there line getting set on second down out of the gun they'll run it inside and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running playe they get just enough to keep the drive alive they've moved to the 16 it's first and 10 they'll go to the ground give him six on the play they'll mark it at the nine looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down handoff to the single running back just couldn't get away from the T when a running back has had as much success as this guy's had so far listen defense has got to queue in they got a queue in to him he's priority number one number two and number three that's a good start to maybe turnning this defensive effort around boy they'd love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal scanning the field it's Bryson he's got it on the move and they gave him no chance to get loose and they force a fourth down they didn't quite get that route run deep enough to pick up the first down now they've got a fourth and short and I think everybody in home tends to yell at their television set why aren't you getting past the first down Mark why did you run your route short defense did a good job knowing where that was but now fourth down offense has to make a decision that is no good and the margin is still seven after the Miss guys well everybody in the stadium thought that was an automatic three not so fast bad Miss by the [Music] kicker UTSA takes over in the offense ready to hit the field first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning finds a tight end gets it to the 42 yd line and that's a first down [Music] big chunk play to start this drive now they'll really try to take it to this defense they'll throw it on first down on the mve he fires got him and nobody's close and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one ree you and I were talking about this before the game how was this defense going to be able to deal with all the speed they have offensively you saw them just rip off a big play and Jesse now their head's spinning just a little bit give up a big chunk play and it's right back at him makes his connection they make the stop but the sweet throwing catches plenty to give him a first down the magic bean is spinning out of control already over 200 yds in the first half yeah they're being aggressive offensively throwing the football ball trying to take advantage of this defense on the back end and they've got their quarterback right now in a group from the Red Zone looking for a man the short hands it's McCoy that completion will take them inside the 10 to the N yd Line Hey listen on offense just take what the defense gives you quarterback looks out wide he sees the DB way off of the receiver throwing the easy hitch pass you'll take that completion operating in the Red Zone here on second down dropping back it's maau got his man in the middle that completion will take it inside the four and the offense is threatening we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break and backed up first and goal this defense fighting to hold the lead and carry it to the locker room lets it Fly it's incomplete he was shooting for the end zone right there well the quarterback knew he wanted to go to his tight end on that play he's a big physical Target but it was the hit on the play that forced the incompletion they'll give it another shot on second and goal from the four he's looking to throw it's complete he's down at the one and they almost had the touchdown pass on that one a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get four points on the board before the half they'll come to the line just one yd shy of the goal line on third down they'll run it and he takes it to the house touchdown UTSA and I love that this offense stuck to it stuck to the Run game didn't Panic they got down but they answered the Bell right before the half and they got this thing right where they wanted now they can tie this football game and hopefully go into the half with with a lot of [Music] momentum he'll try to tack on one more right down the boulevard they put together an 81 yd drive and they capped it off with a one yd Pune so they got the touchdown now going to put it in the hands of their defense to finish off this half here he comes from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 guys we'll get another look at this Kennesaw State offense we talk about settling for points but sometimes when you have to settle for nothing David it can be demoralizing yeah it can definitely be frustrating and I think it leads you to say maybe I go for it more but Jesse I think this offense just needs to put another drive together and just finish Stronger Yeah and and be a little bit less predictable too especially as they get closer and closer down to the end zone looking downfield it's Bryson quickly out to the tight end he steps out of bounds but it will be enough for a first down really nice job there by the quarterback understanding its Blitz and not just that it's Blitz but knowing whether it's man coverage or Zone coverage behind the blitz You' still got to know where your answer is going to be based on what the defense is doing in the back end and he add the answer to the test right right there they'll throw it on first down and he dropped it it looked for all the world like that would be a catch and he just got too excited looked like the offense had a chance for a big play there but the running back just could not reel that ball in back to work on second and 10 from the 41 after that last incompletion he is looking to throw pulls it in really nice job there by both guys to throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down quick timeout call by the offense after the play just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime trying to find his man on first down working that left side ripped off a huge chunk play on that one as he gets the first down before he steps out of bounds love the individual effort by the wide receiver after the catch making people Miss showing you the speed now he set up his offense down in the Red Zone kenas State coming out with another first down from the Red Zone he's going to throw it he wants it all throw to the end zone picked off you got to be sharp in the Red Zone you can't turn the football over Red Zone you got to be crisp you got to be on time you can tell the QB wasn't on time the defender made him pay nice interception stealing points now off the [Music] [Music] bo so the offense has had enough they'll take a knee and wrap up this first half we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update guys a stirring start to things today in San Antonio as we say hello from our broadcast Studios the passing game for both sides has been outstanding on point unrelenting they've excelled in the short game the intermediate game and especially on the Deep ball all in all a thrilling display of offensive fire power and these defenses have a lot to discuss here at halftime and with that let's send it back to the guys inside the eloo Kena State ready to kick it off to start things here in the second half he'll start the return inside his five he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 UTSA will take over in the offense ready to return to the field he wants to start this drive with a pass look you can't take away everything right so you give them that and rally and make a solid tackle yeah and a lot of times in zone coverage I like when I can get all the eyes on the quarterback I like when I can see the routes and see them develop in the middle and you could tell they had keys on the tight end he wasn't going anywhere after he caught that football looking for room it's Barnes he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple that linebacker saw the express lane right to the ball carrier and a great job by the defensive line getting some push making them use their resources on him linebacker comes free be to make in the back field for a tackle for a loss and the road runners headed quickly to the line looking to throw it's maau he wants to take the top off snags it down the right side just making a huge play and he sets him up all the way down at the 14 and the offense is found a lot of success throwing this guy out of the slot he's done a nice job working the middle of the field winning his one-on-one matchups and this quarterback really feels a good Rhythm when he's looking his way they just changed the dynamic of this possession in a heartbeat and now it's first and 10 from inside the Red Zone they think they can create space here with the run to the right and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone the give to the back touchdown road runners and with that they've got the lead here in the second half wow this offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down in this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already ready for this [Music] offense lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven a very very efficient five-way scoring drive and they punctuated it with a 5yd touchdown run they're lining up to boot it away on the run from inside his zone five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 guys we're about to see this Kennesaw State offense go back to work that last Drive was promising for a while but you just can't mess it up at the end with the pick Jesse no you got to be able to finish driv especially in this game if you're going to win in David they've got to be able to eliminate the mental mistakes yeah and I don't think you get conservative or play it safe you can trust your guy I think you put the ball right back in his hands and let him do his thing didn't get much on first down it's second and nine here's the handoff he is going nowhere there stop at the line of scrimmage great job at contained by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic that's exactly what happened they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one on Third and long he has to throw for it fires one high and deep and that'll be incomplete they certainly weren't afraid to take a shot there and now it's fourth down man that's a couple bad throws last possession obviously ends in an interception by this quarterback and now you throw another one you know In Harm's Way you got to make sure you're throwing to the open guy make sure you're taking care of that football we can't have any more turnovers fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way signals for the fair Catch and looks it in at the 40 UTSA takes over and the offense ready to hit the field that last touchdown Drive was surgical through the air Jesse it sure was and that's why this offense is so dangerous David because they can score in a hurry because of how efficient they are throwing the football and welcome to Modern college football that's what it is spread you out find my Playmakers make quick decisions and really put defenses in a difficult situation the road runners want to crank the tempo looking downfield it's maau setting up the screen still on his feet at the 45 he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down well this defense has tried to find ways to disguise their coverage and mix it up to try to confuse the QB it's not working though with that last completion he's now got over 300 yards passing now they've moved it just inside the 40 first and 10 from the 39 used the play fake now to throw looking for a huge play and they dialed up a shot play but they couldn't hook up well the offense is in that Fringe area this is a place where a lot of coordinators like to take shots they tried one there just weren't able to come up with it second down coming up he's looking to throw they've got the screen set up and this one will be stopped for no gain the defense was on to something there they were sensing screen might be coming up dline did a great job staying home getting close to the running back and tackling him for no game linebacker shuffling around trying to keep the quarterback from getting a read they keep attacking through the air it's caught downfield good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch and you've seen these curl routes this is a timing route understanding the ball's got to come out of my hand right when he hits the top of that curl nice job by the QB finding him nice catch and the road runners have this offense rolling get out of here with a running it to the right defense holds there ground pick up of a yard it's at the 26 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine pre- snap motion quarterback trying to get a read one step wrap two-step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground they're close enough for a makeable field goal from the 26 but they'd love to convert this third and long look for a man it's maau and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack and listen the quarterback drops back and he's going through his progressions we SE Zone but just couldn't do anything about it this defensive line this pressure getting to the quarterback getting him on the ground now on fourth down they'll settle for a field goal try and after finishing off one drive with a field goal they'll try it again this time a 47 yd try he's got it showing off that big leg from 47 yds out [Music] [Applause] [Music] they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last drive on the move from inside is five good job by the coverage unit to put a stop to that return guys we'll get another look at this Kennesaw State office defense that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them well you're making a positive out of a negative and that time quarterback nice job buying time he's trying to throw the football downfield nothing there so instead of throwing it away and getting the incomplete just get what you can get and make this next down more manageable from the gun he leaves it with the B out across the 20 to the 21 yd line a three- yd gain and this offense just can't afford not to get the first down here already trailing big and the clock is not their friend almost intercepted it'll fall incomplete the defense almost came up with a turnover man what a break on the football he read that the whole way he just couldn't finish it you know he saw the end zone he saw the grass in front of him to break on that and maybe take it to the house but just a missed opportunity fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 UTSA will take over and the offense ready to return to the field off the play fake on first down can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down that's how you blow up the screen passive here on defense you got to hit the quarterback fast and force the incompletion and now on second down for this offense back to throw it's maau unloads to the wide out he's got it finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down big plays in the passing game deep down the field that take time to develop the big hog mollies up front got to protect their quarterback great job protecting him on that play the road runners in the hurry up they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust moving out of the pocket trying to escape and get it himself he's going to be able to pick up a few yards before the slide you know QBs want to make those big plays they want to they want to put up the big Stacks but when nothing's there sometimes you just tuck the ball get a minimal gain I like the slide by the way too get down and don't take a big hit they'll try to snap it quickly they think they can impose their will here with the run to the right nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry great play by the defense there and listen they got to do more of this running backs obviously had a lot of success they got to continue to stop this run game be physical and not let this guy beat him they'll try to move the chains on this third and long from the 50 from the gun wants to pass dances way to buy time he's going to run it they make the stop but what a job on the scramble to get loose and pick up that first down man that's so frustrating it happens so fast he just pulls it down it looks like pass he pulls it down he's gone just like that chewing up yards so much speed so hard to stop and the road runners are rolling down the field motion trying to get the defense to show his hand makes the grab it's McCoy brought down at the 21 yd line a 50yd pickup and they are in Prime position to get points now and that's just a great individual effort by the wide receiver he catches this ball way short of sticks but because he's able to make the defender Miss now he's able to get the extra yards and turn that into an explosive play the road runners have it with a first and 10 he'll keep it himself and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up yeah and it's a nice job by this defense understanding listen that Q me is a threat and they're going to run all kinds of options and he's going to run the football they were dialed in and got that sucker to the ground and the road runners are threatening in the red zone now the play fi looking for the endzone and it's caught touchdown UT San Antonio offense gets the job done again you want to build that cushion as we get deeper into the second half man it makes it easy doesn't it you start getting up by a couple possessions making the offense very predictable on the other side great job by the offense extending their [Music] lead they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point they now have a three possession lead at 17 a 67 yd touchdown drive there and the Capper a 19 yd toss for the touchdown just about set to kick it away he'll bring it back from inside his spot not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 guys we're about to see this Kennesaw State offense go back to work trailing Now by 17 David this is an opportunity that they need to answer and down by 17 it's not panic load yet like I know we just gave up some points and our defense hasn't played great but I think this offense can still be who they are and stay consistent no doubt lots of football to go but you do get the feeling this is the time of game where you know it could get bad if you don't score and all of a sudden they get the ball back they take it down the field and put some points up this thing might be over so absolutely this quarterback he wants to drive this offense down the field and at least put something on that linebacker was a heat seeking missile and the heat that he sought was the ball carrier yeah great job great field linebackers are making all the calls in the defense and understanding when I need to come through that Gap had come through with bad intention those guys are usually 245 lbs of heat seeking missile fires into traffic picked off trying to take it back he's at the 20 and he's going to score on the interception touchdown UTSA he made that look a lot easier than it is when you break on a football you got to see it and go at the perfect angle the free safety leaves his spot goes and gets it and then does the hard part takes it back to the house for six [Music] lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further there lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys we'll get another look at this kenesa state offense they face a pretty tall mountain here Jesse down 24 but if they're going to climb it this is a good time to start sense of urgency got to be big right here you just get the feeling at this point of the game David they've got to score on this drive obviously their defense needs to get stops but at this point offensively they've got to execute much better they got to be super aggressive down 24 you're going to need three touchdowns three two-point conversions everything to kind of go your way so fast and throw in the football running back searching for a hole didn't find a lot of room let's give him two out to the 20 [Music] four punts already and they've got to convert here to avoid a fifth to the air it's Bryson finds his back in the middle and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch and that's why if you're the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so Dynamic when he has the ball in his hands he saw it right there they're going to run it can't get him to the ground it's really frustrating when you get a guy in his spot he's in the hole he's there to do his job and he can't get the guy on the ground that's your job get him on the ground you know especially a guy that's not a huge back you got to make that tackle you can't make it easy on the offense where now they got a a manageable situation 8- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and short hand off from the gun and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down and I know it's not sexy but those little runs just keep you on your heels keep the sticks moving making you understand like I'm going to do this I'm going to be patient a lot of offenses aren't patient they get too play Big play Happy wanting to force the ball down the field this offense is staying nice and patient right now they'll run the off tackle play here they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I love this linebacker because he's able to dissect what's happening in front of him and he reacts downhill uses his speed to get to the line of scrimmage and create the negative play lost one on that last one it's second and 11 one back in the back field and they'll give it to him a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last play and this offense can ill afford to come up empty on this drive already trailing by multiple possessions dances away from the heat at the 40 there he goes picks up the first down and gets down to avoid contact and you want to talk about his favorite receiver it might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches in a chance to show off their hands in the passing game they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down oh and they'll try to catch him with a pass and he is finding wideopen Defenders all over the field his third interception of the day the sudden change on the turnover man he was looking for Running Room couldn't find that but they'll have it at the [Music] 22 UTSA takes over and the offense ready to hit the field from the gun they'll give it on the inside Solomid run picks up six and gets it to the 28 man that's the advantage of having a good coaching staff to teach these players in this type of situation with the lead late in the game you want to stay in the field of play and keep the clock ticking they do that after that nice run got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four right back to him on the ground he maybe gets a yard they'll Mark him at the 29 they'll try to muscle their way forward on Third and short from the 29 they'll try to bully their way for the first he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage out will be a loss of three and you hear about run blitzes this is exactly what a run blitz is when you know the ball's coming up the middle you want to bring those linebackers get them closer to the line of scrimmage and fire right when the ball snapped he's coming downhill doing a good job creating the loss that linebacker really knew what was going on fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way and he'll work his way on the return out to the 35 yd line before he stopped guys were about to see this Kennesaw State offense go back to work wants to throw it's Bryson he looks that one in nicely he was not going to be denied discarding tacklers running behind his pads and finally down at the 40 well this offense knew coming into this game they wanted to try to attack the middle of the field in the passing game and they're able to execute the end route there right on target with that last pass now it's second and medium is looking to throw good timing on the quick out and he'll run across the sidelines after the good game I love the anticipation on that throw by the QB on the out route you got to throw it before the receiver comes out of his break nice work third and short from the 44 and we might know if they plan to go for it on fourth down by what they call here they'll try to pick up the first through the air catch in the middle it's moth nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down and a nice job working the middle of the field I think it's so important to keep defenses honest and you can't just Dink and dunk outside you got to work the middle great job finding this wide receiver over the middle of the field finally some signs of life from this offense which has done nothing in the second half it's first and 10 works the middle of the field and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup Zone coverage means everybody's looking at the quarterback so now when I'm a wide receiver I got to make sure I know I fit in the hole between these zones I know where they're dropping to and I know where I need to get to great job by the wide receiver finding that hole in the quarterback throwing a strike flips it out to the back and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there I think that shows you the experience of the quarterback there his primary target wasn't open so he didn't Panic even though he was getting hit he was still able to find his check down and find some positive yards got the completion on the last play still some work to do on second down he wants to throw it again grabbed in the middle it's Kent excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down really good job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end has a chance to run a little and and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate throw I I got to hit those guys on the Move On The Run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some extra yards they'll run the counter and they picked up nine on first down it'll bring up second and short I like the Poise by the quarterback on that play too because a lot of times as a quarterback you see the blitz coming and immediately you want to audible you want to try to throw the ball but he knew that he had a good run play called and he knew he could leave it on heads up play by the QB dropping back it's Bryson getting some heat Nifty little Scamper on this one enough for the first down and he slides in safely second and short is a great situation to be in and look at him he drops back to pass the football he doesn't have to throw the football he wants to be aggressive but he can just take off and scramble doesn't have to take a chance great being ahead of the sticks kesas state has a chance now on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three a nice job by the defense first and goal situation you can expect run a lot of the times they were physical got in the back field stuff the run defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming he's going to the right looking for a path to the end zone and he broke one tackle on the way to a solid pick up there and now a big third down coming up down multiple possessions this is one Palmer I'm looking for six I'm not trying to kick a field goal I want to cut into this lead with a touchdown no you got to have it and also considering all that this is four down territory too so you need to identify who are your best players on off and he takes it in for the score touchdown Kennesaw State well well well somebody's been doing their box jumps you ain't lying getting up in the air Hey listen I'm taking a picture of that saving it that might be my screen saber on my phone that vertical way up in the air getting aggressive here and going for two from the gun and he got a hand on it to knock it down in the end zone yeah and the defense comes up with a stop and you just wonder the analytics world and all that stuff that whatever the card says to do you're supposed to do I wonder if they were listening to that card lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive here he comes from inside his own five and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next Drive UTSA will take over in the offense ready to return to the field they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical daveid but I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and establishing this running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal got three on first down it's second and seven they move the tight end all over the give to the back he found a hole got about five he's down at the 21 after the strong run on second down third down coming do they do it again trying to pick it up on the ground and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down yeah and he's shown you a little bit of everything today shows you why he's a really good back and the lines paav some holes and he's he's right at 99 yards and the way this game's going with the lead he's going to get a few more touches break that sentury Mark and when you do you you have a great chance of winning football games from the gun running back on the move after the threey pickup they come to the line Second and seven on the option they've got it to the 49 yd line and they'll move the chain I think you have to like what you see if you're the coaching staff here your offense is on the field and it looks like you got a pretty good drive going and you're just going to try and keep this thing marching keep the clock ticking you've got a really nice lead here late just want to find ways to keep the chains moving they're doing that looking for space it's Henry still running at the 40 what a good run there he has enough for the first down everything going the offense's way trying to ice this game late they've got a really nice lead so you just want to run the ball high percentage throws and keep the chains moving and they're doing that this has been a beautiful drive to watch offense continues to stay in a nice Rhythm here late from the gun running back gets to give he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down the clock is my friend if I can do this late in the ball game with a lead and I can continue to run the football and they have no answers well then I'm going to walk away with a win so listen I wouldn't change a thing I'd keep pounding the football keep running the clock right back to the well and it's to the end zone touchdown road runners and the route is on he has spent a lot of time in that end zone and an absolute assault on the scoreboard no doubt about it guess what I get to make a lot of highlights I I can copy and paste all of these touchdowns show everybody the game I had the defense well you're just going to have to shake your head because you'd be getting dominated ready to try the point after and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll start the return inside his five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 guys will'll get another look at this Kennesaw State offense they're going to throw it to start the drive got the back over the middle and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pickup guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill anymore you got to be versatile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I gotta be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on you quarterback and running back set up in the pistol to the air it's Bryson trying to get to him that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble well this guy must feel like he's running into a buzz side in this game he has been under duress all game long and that's a big reason why he's thrown multiple interceptions in the game too nothing coming easy to him it's hard to see the field when your internal clock is going off so fast because of the pressure Lofts one high inde deep and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down you know it's one thing to take shots early in the game when the defense may not be expecting it but at this point fourth quarter you're trailing by a lot they know you're going to do it and the defense was expecting that one great job in the back end down by multiple possessions you can't come up empty on this drive they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down caught near the sideline it's Mo and wait just a second the officials going to take a second look at this one and the player will stand after the replay booth just does a little double checking to make sure quarterback now breaking the field he felt the heat trying to get away but down he goes he'll lose a yard or two how about this defense this defense is getting after the quarterback making them feel uncomfortable the third sack of the day hard to have a good passing attack when your quarterback's trying to throw from his back they gave up the sack on first down now it's second and 11 snags it over the middle and he's brought down after a nice game I don't know if they're trying to get this guy highman consideration but the fact that they're still throwing the ball at this point of the game with a lead like they have is surprising I got to be honest on first down from the 13 yd line they'll keep it on the ground they want this clock to move here just trying to bash It Forward he got a couple it's down at the 11 going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down here's the give off the left side and they're going to put another one into the end zone as they just keep piling points on the scoreboard [Music] [Music] [Music] he'll try to add another to their lead and with that extra point the lead remains in the gargantuan category quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and it was punctuated by an 11 yd Run for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive on the run from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 going up top on first down back open in the middle a little more space open up that play book even more as they pick up the first down out to the 30 and man this quarterback has had a day with that pass he goes over 300 yards on the day really nice job executing putting up some yards today pretty good day for the young man it'll be first and 10 from the 30 he wants to throw using the quick game they'll Mark him down at the 40 after ripping off 10 that receiver found the open space in the zone coverage and as a defense honestly you just throw your hands up on that because they covered it pretty well it was just a good play call and really nice execution they've come out with answers on this possession and now another first down he's looking to throw it but a little time lets it Go caught close to the marker it's Wallace they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down great job by the quarterback thrown against Zone coverage you cannot tell graph where you're throwing the football you cannot eyeball wide receivers so great job by the quarterback using his eyes not staring down his guy and then throwing him open grabbed over the middle it's Kent and this game is obviously out of hand but I think the fans would argue too at this point like all right well let's not throw check Downs right let's throw some deep balls and continue to open up this offense and keep fighting I think that's what you want to see you want to see your squad not quit keep fighting until the very end of the football game got some of the work done on first now let's see what they have on second down he's got his man and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and a big key on that throw to the slot receiver guys is putting the ball out in front the location of the throw is what helped that guy get extra yards after the catch kenas State coming out with another first down looking to pass inside the Red Zone he's got it and still on his feet they get it down to the seven on that pass play in Prime position for a score and I know this football game is over but we got to keep fighting we got to keep finding something some kind of Rhythm in this offense something we can hang our hat on that we do really really well listen the intermediate passing game like this has taken over college football short to intermediate so if they can find some of this it'll help their offense moving forward can't make the grab as he was going for six right there and this defense has put a game together like it is hard to put all the fastest of Defense together run defense pass defense they've been so good man dialed in you could tell they were ready they were fast they were physical they dominated this football game and after this play the cake will be baked got it in the middle it's Kent and that is how we will wrap this one up off [Music]
