good morning to the morning after the Dolphins first preseason loss as if we're really counting these preseason games because they matter um I am Omar Kelly you're Miami Herold columnist and you're watching Dolphins in depth right now I'm G to bring in Barry Jackson uh the illustrious Barry Jackson who I'm sure watch that game with such enjoyment and Delight Barry just because that game against Tampa Bay basically what I concluded was that everybody that played in that game is on unstable footing well I'd make an exception for braaton baras he's on the team I would say got throw Rob Jones left guard who I yeah okay well Rob still needed to prove that he needed to get the job and it was great that he got an opportunity to play one Series against Tampa starters I'm sure dra Jack Driscoll wishes he didn't play against Tampa starters in in V who on Third and one steamrolled him right back into the to to the play but Rob two starters Rob Jones and Quinton Bell yes I count Quinton Bell as a starter because tell me the day that he hasn't served as a starting outside linebacker Edge player for this Dolphins defense um it had it you know no I don't think Braxton's safe I used to say Braxton was safe Barry I don't I would say there were at least a half dozen players last night who were safe Elijah Campbell Jack Driscoll Rob Jones baros you need him not only because of his reliability as a returner but also the fact your entire wide receiver room is beat up it's unbelievable they got 206 receivers injured so I think those are safe Jeff Wilson I know there's some questions about him I think he's in so I do think there were guys who played last night here's what was interesting to me I don't know Chris Brooks Wilson if you keep only one if you keep four instead of five what's interesting to me is who did not play your guy Deshawn Han did not play which would suggest that he is likely on the team so I found that to be interesting he he is he he has done very well for himself this training camp so uh you know mo even Duke Riley didn't play and most May didn't play I would say Marcus May and Duke Riley are on the team and that was an indication last night about them not playing I I don't know because maybe also you don't want to chance risk of injury I the Marcus May situation had Marcus May really solidified a spot on the 53 men roster you need him because the health issues with your starters right I mean obviously Holland has dealt with a series of things since the knee injuries last November has missed two weeks McDaniel said on Friday night he's dayto day had a good workout yesterday but poyer as he gets older you're going to have greater risk of injuries as you get older that's a known scientific fact as a result I think you have to keep Marcus may his experience and then Campbell's your number for the McMorris thing has now been sorted out because he's injured in a boot you could give him a redire ear and just put him on IR all year so I thought as dull as the game was last night as all preseason third preseason games are I thought we did gain Clarity on a number of things starting with drum roll please backup quarterback now is it clear to you is it a no doubter no-brainer to you that Skyler Thompson is your number two first I'd like to formally acknowledge and admit that it is actually a quarterback competition uh I I think I think I think Mike White must have watched the podcast said oh he doesn't think it's a competition okay I'll show him it's not a competition I'll go the absolute other way and give the other guy every opportunity every start um even even putting Skyler in this situation where he's got to close out the game that favors Skyler that favors his style of play um you know Mike White starting the game he's starting against first team players with a second team offensive line and second team wide receivers at Lee Skyler was like third team on 13 yeah uh it was you know so the deck was oddly stacked in Skyler's favor I think he performed well um would I feel confident in him taking over for a month if Tua sideline no but I think he's a better option than Mike White and oddly enough and the Dolphins clarified this um we had been talking all offseason about a new bylaw that passed in the NFL and that would allow the practice squad quarterback to be active every game without a practice squad elevation now yes the owners voted in favor of it and it passed however what we didn't know is that the end of L paa did not agree and approve to that rule so it is not implemented this year for the 53 man roster so what that means for how teams are going to construct their 53 man rosters I have absolutely no idea because more could keep three now more teams could keep three Omar but I would make the case that even knowing that you can't just automatically bring up your practice squad quarterback every week I would still make the case of the Dolphins are fine with two even with two is history of injuries I would not spend 3.5 million on Mike White I feel like it's a waste of a roster spot with all due respect to Mike White who's a hell of a fellow as we always say but I would say you're fine just with Skyler unless you find someone better in the open market and I know you and I have had this discussion I would look toward Taylor hinaki if he's available there are others who might pique your interest maybe then at a third at least for a couple of weeks to see if this guy is better than Skyler but I think we've established that Mike White is not appreciably better than Skyler Thompson and if the guy earning 3.5 million is not as good as the guy on a minimum contract then he keep the guy on a minimum contract that's how the NFL has historically worked I know there are exceptions at the quarterback position sometimes but Mike White had he had such an odd training camp it's like he was there in in body only at times it just there there was just never a moment with Mike White where you thought you know what he's the veteran leader you need behind Tua we just never saw that moment and yes it was backed against him in the sense that Skyler got the vast majority second team reps which we can now reveal you know over the course of the last three weeks and Skyler was simply better last night white two uh two first downs and four drives last night that was a signature moment of the preseason to be able to make his case and he gave us two first downs and four drives obviously it's not all his fault there were offensive line problems he was playing with a you know a mly crew of skill position players but it simply wasn't good enough so to me it's clearcut if Mike White is on this team it'll be I think an egregious mistake to passed on Skyler Thompson and I'm someone who has never been a huge fan of Thompson just because of his Happy Feet because he doesn't setting up well in the pocket but to me it's it's as clear as day that Skyler Thompson has won this job and any other outcome other than them getting a better quarterback from the outside to me would be patently unfair yes um I think I can't argue with anything that you said I do want to not gloss over the fact that Mike White was always working with inferior Talent inferior line inferior wide receivers mismatching Talent level of the people that he's going against um however the play was just not good enough and I'm not going to say that Skyler's play was good enough because he ended the game with an interception um not that he could have won the game but he had a a a a shining passer rating before that late game interception and he finished the game with a 99.3 passer rating however do do I feel comfortable where they are at quarterback no but I think you've got other fish to fry on other situations so we'll see yeah I'd like I'd like to seen a call the tanah hill but I guess we're we're past that point waste the money why tanah Hill's not playing for cheap and tanah Hill is he's he's not and and realistically the truth is tan Hill's probably not trying to come back here okay well I I I don't want to hear any complaints of God forbid two of Miss is four weeks and Skyler Thompson plays and they average six points a game I don't want to hear any complaints from you then because I'm giving you a chance to call Ryan tanah hill now and you're saying no n I'm good uh let's hear from Skyler Thompson who really um maximized his opportunity all training camp chill um kind of relax you know um really been going at it hard these past uh couple weeks um we get a little little uh little you know rest time here before we got a week of practice and then getting ready for week one you know so um uh I'm just going to relax you know I feel like I've left everything on the table and um I have no regrets what's it like remember we talked to you the first week of camp and we didn't know if it was a competition you didn't know if it was a competition and here you go take the majority of the second team reps and then start the first game and now finish this game strong how do you feel you you've grown from this experience I think that's the that's the thing when I said that I had a lot of fun tonight um there's a lot of there was a lot of plays tonight that I felt I felt growth and I felt the the the reward of putting time in to getting better and you know I I think everyone can relate in every aspect of life you know it's when you put time into something and and feel the results and um feel that pay off U it's pretty cool thing and so um really you know this whole Camp just really my mindset has been the same and um I've just been really focused on the right things um just trying to get better each and every day you know and trusting that even when it doesn't feel like it's still trusting it and putting the work to do so yeah uh Skyler did get better he's noticeably better what I did not like is that most of his success uccessful plays on plays outside the pocket the roll outs the bootlegs but that's how you operate with all young quarterbacks um you know you get you you you shorten the field in half you give them either or plays and and especially when you have an unstable pocket it's it's okay to move the quarterback um my question and concern regarding Skyler is have we seen the ceiling or is there more there and I don't have a problem if this is the ceiling in um I I I but I need there to be more and I personally think that there was a choice made to invest in Skyler because he's got less experience and he was already appreciably close to Mike White and the question is would there could there be upside and I think he's shown that there is some upside there but what he's got to do is he's got to get out the inconsistencies the highs and lows and stabilize it a little bit right now even even when you watch Mike White there's a stability there but there isn't the highs um and Skyler just makes things happen he's he's got a little bit of that Mike white I mean I'm sorry that Matt Moore in him and that that's that's how I that's how I need I that's how I need my my quarterback to be but let let's address some of the other players who stood out in this final exhibition game which is the Bubble Boy game uh Malik Washington even though he wasn't on the bubble Barry um I have not been shy about saying he has not been good and even Mike even Mike McDaniel came probably as close to criticizing anybody as I've ever heard um when he addressed Malik Washington and he's like finally we see the player that we drafted and I'm like finally somebody admits that this guy has not looked good all training camp um what were your impressions of Malik's performance it was very encouraging to me that was the most encouraging thing last night to see the 40 yard reverse run the 45 yard kickoff return the 28- yard punt return throwing a sevenard reception 120 yards total last night in total yardage and to me he has become a viable candidate for your punt return job I think you have to seriously consider giving him that role or at least opening the competition with baras we'll see about kickoff returns but to me words baros isn't safe well I think he's on the team because they need veteran receivers and baros is reliable but I think you have to open up that competition so I think last night proved without question Malik Washington is on the team and I think even without these slew of injuries he had to invest more time in a guy who caught 109 passes at Virginia last year has skills was one of your draft picks so I'm more encourage last night Omar about what he can become as opposed to just being on the team I think he can be a weapon who knows if he'll ever be a top four NFL receiver but I think at the very least he can be a guy who gives you energy and explosive plays on special teams and you can also obviously use them on reverses and other plays Gadget plays uh to be effective so that was the most encouraging thing to me last night second most encouraging thing to me was how Channing Tindle was all over the field and to me there's no question now he is on the team and remember how a couple years ago Josh Boyer G ly used him in that spy role we saw him in that role against Justin Fields it was a total debacle and then we never saw Channing Tindle again so to me the way to use Channing Tindle is what we've seen from Anthony Weaver so far which is using him as a Blitzer getting pressure on the quarterback a package for Channing Tindle I think would be extremely helpful early in the season when Jaylen Phillips will probably be on a pitch count when Bradley chub won't be available so to me not only is he on the team after the 11 tackle performance last night but to me you have to play him five to 15 snaps a game just as a pass rusher now obviously other teams will probably catch on that he's going to be in the game as in the five to 15 oh I I definitely am early in the season before you get back up who else is gonna give you pass rush Quinton Bell I mean name who else is going to give you pass rush besides ogba and Jaylen Phillips and Kus Campbell and celar on this team chop Robinson I know I just name four I could give you maybe chop I mean no that role that you were talking about is belongs to chop CH a third down pass rusher but I need to see more from him I know there were a couple weeks in Camp where he was really good but he struggled setting the edge again at times last night he obviously did against Washington aside from that one great play made in the back field so I I need to see more to trust chop Robinson with 30 snaps a game uh so tell me let's talk more about Bubble guys I'm sorry I I digress there onto Channing Tindle tell me the position hold on before we get into bubble guys let's talk about Jaylen wght a little bit um okay he had most carries seven carries 3 36 yards um he had some catches four catches 41 yards um that's a pretty productive game pretty productive showing a guy with 11 11 11 touches I think he's clearly the number three back um at this point um I'm pretty much convicted I think it will be Chris Brooks over uh Jeff Wilson because Jeff Wilson why was Jeff Wilson on the field Barry because everybody on the field was in danger um now Chris Brooks probably didn't play because of the concussion situation but it's very clear to me and very abundantly clear I would argue to you Barry that Jaylen wries preseason showing far exceeds Devon anan's preseason showing and that's encouraging for me especially when he openly admits I really don't know what I'm doing I'm still learning this offense and here's jayen Wright in his own words I feel like me planning EC is prepared me a lot uh everybody flies around so I mean I was really prepared for everything you know just learning the schemes and offense um the details and everything so that's what I learned where do you feel you are in terms of understanding the details of this offense most of the rookies that have come through here say okay this is a complicated offense to learn um I think I've think I'm doing a pretty good job learning it um of course I still have you know a lot of learning to do you know since I'm a rookie um have a lot of growing to do uh but so far I mean I feel like I got everything most of all the important stuff down um to where uh they trust me on the field um in the regular season so U you know when my opportunity comes I'm ready to take full advantage of it what do you think youve from day one train I'm just understanding the blocking schemes understanding you know my tracks aiming points of runs um you know just understand you know this just the game of football you know just being patient um you know controlling my speed doing L of now we bring in Isaiah Smalls where we're going to break down some of these bubble decisions uh the 53 man roster it's always an exercise in futility because I'm going to get it wrong it's just going to be wrong just because of the nature of of the situation but there's so many different factors that that play into how many do you keep who's on the bubble um I am going to present you a scenario okay we know they're pup guys we know there R our guys that are going to complicate who stays initially and then who eventually get W gets waved let me give you guys seven bubble players and I need to cut one of them to in order to get to my 53 man roster and I need you to make that decision okay we got Malik Washington who is your last receiver because I think we're pretty much all in unison that Eric ukama is a little bit ahead of Malik Washington or we in agreements there yes although hurt which complicates his status for early in the season he's in the walking boot as you guys noticed last night um so let's go Malik Washington Lester cotton who is at this present moment your starting Right Guard Chris Brooks who I think is your fourth running back over Jeff Wilson San Neil who is a special teams Ace um your top Gunner uh Jonathan Harris who I think is probably your sixth defensive lineman uh Mohammad Kamar who is a draft piic a rookie talent but has he really showed up for you right now Nick NM Superstar who is a very fanf friendly he he got it out the mud we've seen him rise from undrafted player to a starter to now a role player and then Channing Tindle who has a breakout preseason two sacks 12 tackles in the final game I need to cut one who are you cutting Barry I don't like your list I like you very much personally I think you're great at this I do not like your list I don't want to cut any of them I think all of them are on the team but I'll give you an outside the box idea with one of your names Lester cotton to me has been gifted this Right Guard job I don't know why what has Lester cotton done to win a right a guard job against Jack Driscoll who has played well at Right Guard obviously he struggled when they threw him for whatever reason at Center last night against via his second career game at Center he was he was lucky he survived the night so my idea would be this even though Lester Cott now is your starting Right Guard I would say he would be Expendable if you go out and spend the money to acquire a Right Guard who's available in that scenario you acquire a guard maybe for a conditional sixth round pick pay the money and then cut leester cot so I would say outside the box Cut Lester cotton if think all of your other guys are on the team I could make the case that if they keep four running backs you could keep Wilson over Brooks so maybe Chris Brooks but some of your other guys like Malik on the team Wilson's off Barry these are the situations that I have wait wait wait wait wait who made the most important plays in your biggest win after December 1 last year Jeff Wilson the drive against Dallas Tua orchestrated it well but it was Wilson who got those tough yards down the stretch to win their only significant win after December 1 against a good team was orchestrated in a late drive by Jeff Wilson wilon he eared it maybe keep Chris Brooks the fifth uh your your your thoughts on this Isaiah uh I'm going to go Jonathan Harris honestly that that's who out of all the names that you said that man do to you it's not nothing personal nothing personal it's just uh he hasn't necessarily stood out to me honestly like even even if we're talking about some if we're talking about I know chenning T for example has experienc some very high highs um you know you want someone that's somewhat in the middle but um personally I'm gonna I'm going to say Jonathan Harris haven't really heard his name haven't really seen anything impressive from him recently um that's that's what I gotta go with I think Isaiah's gonna be right I think of the guys I think Harris is most likely the reason I would lean toward keeping him would be pey is obviously beaten up after the injury last night you cut to your Bonito Jones has health issues we've shown as you as you noticed Omar we've shown that they are happy to play Jonathan Harris inside as a nose you obviously need depth at that position even though he doesn't have the ideal body for it but they feel like he can play nose so to me that would be the only case to keep him on the team if you have health issues with Bonito and peely coming into the season but I agree with Isaiah he's probably the one most likely to go from that see but but you just counter you just you just contradicted your argument by saying we've got injuries at this m they can't even give us an update on Bonito Jones and Bonito Jones looks like he's eating a human and he he might be 370 pounds at this point um I don't know how you got bigger in two weeks like that uh you know obviously I know players lose a lot of weight during during when they're when they're in training camp but man um Bonito Jones is injured I don't even have Brandon peely on my 53 who's gonna play nose is KES Campbell gonna play nose while Bonito Jones is injured if you get rid of Jonathan Harris is Neville gallamore gonna play NOS or are you just gonna abandon the three four front altogether so that complicates the situation if you're asking me in this situation where I'm picking between and these are this is when I put my 53 man roster together which is going to be produced on the Miami Herold today I had these I had these tough decisions to make with Channing Tindle Nick needam mohamd Kamar I'm not cutting the draft pick San Neil I have to have a special teams Ace um Chris Brooks like him don't love him and to me the decision came down to Nick Needum or Chris Brooks who I'm pretty confident I could put both of those players on my practice squad but you know who I'm GNA cut I'm going to cut Nick Needum just because I feel it's the fair and right thing to do gives him an opportunity where he can go out and find work if another team needs need needs some assistance or you can come back here on my practice squad and I'm pretty sure I'm more confident that more people would claim Chris Brooks even though he's hasn't really done anything as opposed to claiming Nick need but also Chris Brooks is a better special teams contributor and I think when you're thinking about that final 10 spots on the roster you have to make special teams top priority in terms of who is really helping me in the third phase of the game so um that that's a tough decision uh I also didn't want to bring up something that Mike McDaniel said after the game that really just had me like huh and and also and based on fans reactions to my tweet of what Mike McDaniel said um and I and I I want to quote Mike accurately because uh you know we we we make sure we do that um he basically said that to to paraphrase it that Liam mikenberg had had one of the best training camps of 2024 and I'm thinking to myself like are we talking about like desperate need like thank you for saving our training camp by going and playing Center um I don't I and I like Liam I know I've mocked him and I know we've done the ikenberg express but I do genuinely like Liam problem is the ground also likes Liam and he is on the ground a lot and like did you what did you think when you heard him say that Liam had had the best training camp of everybody yeah I was surprised by that I I it just doesn't make much sense but you do have to admire him for being willing to constantly change positions he came into this Camp hoping to be solidified at one spot he has told us Right Guard is his best position long term and he has selflessly agreed to move back to Center not that he had a choice but he's done it with a good attitude he didn't have to do it with a good attitude and he's played there the concern for me with Liam would be when you go up against a good defensive front like he will see to an extent with Jacksonville but more so against Buffalo on the Thursday night game in week two be overwhelmed again if he has to play center if Aon Brewer's not back that night and we got a bit of an update on Brewer last night for McDaniel he said that he's not nervous uh necessarily about his availability for week one but he couldn't say with certainty that he would play uh Isaiah what's your Takeaway on this offensive line do you feel confidence in Liam and either Driscoll or cotton at Right Guard or you a little bit queasy I mean I'm very queasy right anytime you have somebody have to switch positions like I think that's more so what my Mike McDaniel was talking about right it's more so praising a guy that you know is in an uncomfortable situation right I mean you got to give credit where where credit is due now I don't I don't know about the the the ground liking Liam comment but I I think you know as as a dolphins fan like you gotta you know feel a little bit bit queasy you know there's no Isaiah win right you have a guy playing a position he doesn't want to play you know those mental things will affect that offensive line right um You Know You're you Omar is even talking about the the right guard position like the starting Right Guard right now leser cotton being cut right so I think you have all these like offensive line is a position is like a group that you want to have certainty right certainty breeds success when it comes to the offensive line there is a very clear lack of uncertainty on that offensive line and hopefully um it doesn't breath problems down the line but like you can't say that definitively right and I think that's the that's the issue heading into season like have you have the you have the names right uh you tyreo the jayen W two was secured right on the defense Jaylen you know Jordan puer you know we haven't seen Javon right but you know he's there too so you have the names right you but then on the position at the position group where you would love to have the most certainty it's kind of up in the air right so and I I have one more thing I want to add on the Right Guard thing I tweeted last night dolphins have 23 million in cap space I would go out and be aggressive and find a quality nose tackle and a quality Right Guard if it's available I wanted to add one thing though I'm not going out and just adding a marginal Right Guard like a Dalton Ryner or Tyler Shatley uh to me I make this move if a quality starting Right Guard becomes available if a team surprisingly and discreetly makes available a starting player at Right Guard who's a good player who's earning six to eight million a year because someone cheaper has beaten him out Chris Greer and his FR an office need to be on top of that they need to go out and acquire that player because they have the cap space and if you really are all in like they say they are then you need to go out and find a quality player at that position if not I would roll with Driscoll at Right Guard if Brewer is not ready in week one with Liam at Center just because those are your best options otherwise Liam R Driscoll at Right Guard Brewer at Center but to me you have to go out and at least see if there is a quality starting Right Guard earning decent money available in the trade market or I think this whole claim of you being Allin you're not really fully Allin ah but Barry I need that money for next year because I'm going to be in Capell next year will save you next year Brandon sh is Gonna Change around some numbers he's going to make a three into an eight he's going to push money down the road to 2039 so worry about that next year and I usually am one who loves to roll over cap space but now's the time you have to address your needs to me the most mismanaged position on this roster this offseason was not the offensive line it was nose tackle why'd you bring in tier tart if he's not a good scheme fit as Mike McDaniel said we know that Bonito Jones even though you should praise the man for making himself an NFL starter in Detroit we know that he was statistically one of the worst defensive tackles in the League last year according to the Pro Football Focus metrics so why did they do nothing more to adequately replace rayquan Davis I know rayquan wasn't great but he was at least competent they had the money for rayin Davis or somebody like him so to me that's the position that's going to bite them in the butt and I know Anthony Weaver doesn't use a ton of three-man lines and I know Kus Campbell can play inside but that's the position that really irks me because there was the money to that not be the concern that it is heading into the season yeah I I would say if there was a position or a group that that had me a little bit uncomfortable um it would be both the interior of the offense and defensive line but I'm also a little bit concerned about inside linebacker healthwise man that that unit is I don't I don't know what we can expect Jordan Brooks is injured Anthony Walker's injured um you know uh uh who else um uh David long he's playing in now I know that all of them are going to be I I assume all of them going to be healthy and active for the season except maybe Walker who's missed three weeks with something undisclosed and mysterious but how how confident are we that we're going to get 17 games from from this this batch of of linebackers I'm I'm not very confident but I'm neither am I confident on safety like I don't know what's going on with Javon Holland so Po got a fractured thumb like it's just it's it's shaky for sure yeah this is a very injury decimated team and we we're starting the season and hopefully we can get to the point where we get people on the field and people get healthy but have you noticed the injury rate in the preseason it's like you're losing three guys a a week three guys a game yeah I've not seen anything like like this it's reached the Absurd level I know people want to blame someone they want to blame the conditioning staff do you blame a curse do you just blame bad luck but it's it's become such an issue with this team obviously it foiled their postseason bids last year because if they had had a healthy jaay and Phillips and chub Connor Williams jayen Wadd down the stretch beaten Tennessee or Buffalo zaven Howard exactly Omar so it's just become such a Perpetual problem with this team and you don't know why do you tribute it all to bad luck I mean is the team soft I'm not saying they're soft but these are some of the comments that you get on social media what is the problem can we contribute all of it just to Misfortune when guys get hurt it's Misfortune or guys have soft tissue injuries I don't even know if that's training I you know I I these are all professional athletes they do a great job of treat treating and training their bodies I just I I I I have to put it to luck um and and the Dolphins have a very cautious approach when it comes to injuries they're not going to push you through injuries um so that's why we haven't seen Tariq that's why we haven't seen jayen wad uh but then when you get a guy like River crer after he catches a touchdown and he's done um it's like I was that on the trainers did did they do anything in that in that in that area you know did they not massage him before the game what like how you know how do we equate that it's just chance sometimes um so let me let me let's wrap up this podcast um I want you guys to give me one player the your final player on your 53 and your final player off your 53 um I I will start just to to give you guys a little bit of Grace um I am going to make Chris Brooks my final player on the 53 I just I'm not a huge Chris Brooks fan like a number of media members including you Barry but there's something there and I think when you look at Miami's thirdd and one struggles or third and short struggle I mean it's it's it's laughable at this point it's it's it's classically laughable it's like every team is excited about getting Miami in third and one because you know they're absolutely not going to do anything with it and I'm at the point now where I'm like Mike McDaniel I'm gonna pass the ball on Third and one just because I have a greater chance of executing and having success at it and maybe I think Chris Brooks can give you that if you put a power package together let's hell do the wing te uh um it maybe maybe you could figure out something that could solve that and Chris Brooks is your best power Runner um the last guy off off my 53 um it's got to be Nick needam I just don't see where he fits and this has nothing to do with Patrick McMorris or or Marcus May um I special teams is the contributor there um backup nickel okay well if I need a backup nickel I could put Jaylen in there I could put uh Javon Holland in there um and bring other people on the field um boundary safety do I trust Nick to be on the boundary do I trust him to be back there at safety I just I just think his time has come and it's sad and unfortunate but this is the nature of the NFL and we lose guys that we become affectionate and fond of all the time and I just don't know if Nick you know he was right out there with the bubble boys and can I sit there and say that he was holding it down and playing well I really can't um where are you Barry with your fi final guy on and final guy off I think you raised the money position with corner to me the most fascinating decision that's coming down is who is kept as a sixth corner you know that Ramsey and Fuller obviously your starters coo is going to be on the team Bonner's going to be on the team that's four Saran Neil even though he's been mostly a special teams player for Buffalo he's going to be on your team and he is a cornerback because of special teams so talk cam Smith cam Smith is injured you I'm not counting cam Smith toward the first a week with the hamstring yeah I think he's a possibility for short-term IR so you have five healthy Corners that's not enough you obviously need a six so to me the most fascinating decision coming down is this do you keep Nick Needum as your sixth corner but he'd really be your fifth because you have to count an Neil as a corner but I think needam would play ahead of him do you give Nick Needum that job or do you go with one of the kids Isaiah Johnson or storm duck Johnson and duck have been very good throughout Camp each gave up a touchdown reception last night with Isaiah Johnson obviously there were two consecutive plays later in the game one he made an excellent Play In The End Zone then he gave up a touchdown on the next play his coverage was pretty good he still gave up the TD to me this is the most gut-wrenching decision they face you've got to keep a sixth body as a corner who would probably be your number five Corner early in the season is that player Nick needam is that player storm duck or Isaiah Johnson I wouldn't know what to do if I were Chris Greer to me this is a very difficult decision I love Nick nm's professionalism I love his reliability I love the fact that he knows this defense backwards and forwards I love the fact that he can give you snaps at safety as well and in nickel and on the boundary that versatility has to count for something but at the same time we know the success the Dolphins have had with undrafted rookie Corners do you give up on Duck and when I say give up I mean not have him on the 53 risk him to waivers do you give up on Duck or Johnson do you stick with need him or do you go outside that's the most gut-wrenching decision on the roster to me I don't know what they will do Isaiah well you still gotta make a pick NOP no Barry I'm going with need I'm going with needam only because of the versatility and the reliability and the fact that you know he can play multiple positions and just hope that nobody claims storm duck and Isaiah Johnson but I could make the case either way Omar okay so duck would be the last your last guy off yeah your first guy off okay Isaiah what you got um so for me I'm gonna go last guy on first I'm going with tning T I really like what I saw from him last night you you could see he really is is loves uh this this Weaver defense and as M Danel said last night you got to praise the kid you know three three defensive coordinators three years right and I feel like this one he seems to be the most comfortable and he talked earlier this week about how it allows him to just be more free and all allow him to allows him to use his instincts right which I thought were great last night um so I'm saying he's on he made it um as as far as who's off I'm going to have to go Jeff Wilson because you guys talked a lot about how down the stretch he was making all these plays and blah blah blah I saw him last night against the the tamples twos right and I didn't see anything there I didn't feel like he had that burst I didn't see him making plays it seems like a lot of time he's getting stuffed in the back field you look at this roster right you think about the running backs that they have right I don't think that the Jaylen wri pick was made out of just oh it's a Mike McDaniel pick right you know I think Omar and I were talking about that last night oh it's a Mike McDaniel pick I think they that that's a that was Jeff Wilson's sign right like you're gone you're gone kid and um playing him last night as much as he did I think they were trying to get him some good tape it didn't necessarily work out um I think that that is a guy that that you can cut and if someone you know think there's some Talent still there go grab him see you thank you so much for your contributions um but then after that uh yeah I think I think it's done yeah um it'll be interesting to see Barry history says that these Cuts will begin probably Sunday if not Saturday Monday yeah about half the cuts are usually made Monday and then the other half on Tuesday in the past the Dolphins have had players practice and then cut them on Tuesday that's not going to be the case players are off on Tuesday so it should be a quieter day in terms of no one being called in after practice and we all recall Keon crosson being injured in the practice last year right before cutdown day he ended up getting I think $3 million out of it so good good for Keon crosson yeah ended his career too but you know I'd love my career to be ended for $3 million um with a three million send off goodbye um on that note we are out Dolphins in depth will'll be back to discuss cuts when they start to happen um we look forward to contining to be here for you like subscribe tweet comment um and we will see you later on next week
