and welcome in everybody glad you're with us inter league baseball on MLB The Show it's the St Louis Cardinals going up against the New York Yankees and we'll be back for the first first pitch right after [Applause] this okay all set to go now for St Louis Mason wi here comes a pitch fast ball for a strike and we're underway here this afternoon 107 to Third one out in the top of the first Alec burlon next up for the Cardinals the designated Alec bur that one finds the Zone one o and one [Applause] one down base is empty fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two leftand hitter Waits gets a piece and it stays 0 and two and a foul ball he stays alive and the rander deals and that one is LIF in the air judge has it sized up two down two out SP is empty here's Nolan arado there's the swing in a miss good late sink on that fast out of the hand looks so good and then by the time he gets in The Hitting Zone hard to get the barrel to it lined and that's a base hit Joey gets on base it keeps it going pitch was on the outside didn't go the other way with it but still a nice job of using the big part of the field to find no way he hits it that well if he hooks around the baseb there and the batter now Brendan Donovan next offering is foul back and a pitch and misses it's a strike out back in the Bronx and stepping in for the Yankees glaver Torres the pitch Line Drive caught man that's one of those advat where you have to remind yourself about the process he did everything right right there nothing to show for it but in your mind you have to convince yourself that it was a very good at in the air out to Center sizing this one up pulls it down and there's two gone it's Aaron judge now little drop and drive on that swing backside collapsing just a little bit trying to put the ball in the air ball one there starts with the breaking ball which isn't surprising they're trying to keep him off balance but he's been known to connect on the breaking stuff too ground off the middle that's a base hit and that keeps the inning alive everything came together perfectly for him right there really nice job staying up the Middle with his approach he didn't try to do too much theit just shot it through the infield and here is Austin Wells and there's a foul ball at the belon fires breaking ball through there for a [Applause] strike2 this one popped up foul ground first Bas side golden makes the catch that is the inning back here in New York top of the second and stepping in for the Cardinals Paul goldi the right hater back to work and that's in for a strike first pit strike right there for him he's going to have to do that consistently if he's going to give any length to his Skipper that's the ball and there's a ball the line of the pitch and he swung to miss there one count hard hit right side Torres over to First and they get goldi for the out so up next Lars Nar Nar and first offer ring is fouled off strowman he gets a lot of swing and miss and he keeps the ball in the yard not to mention the fact not too many hits either fires over to First and a couple of quicks two outs B is empty now it's the right field Jordan Walker walk even some of the best guys in the sport are going to give up home runs from time to time and he's an exception yeah and even with those home runs if you're throwing strikes and keeping base runners off the paths those home runs are solow shots but to this point he hasn't had to worry about it on the ground right side Torres fires over to First St Louis goes down in [Applause] order back at Yankee Stadium now the right the line to the pitch that's the ball outside righty to the pl and a foul ball the wind to kick the [Applause] pitch and misses it's a strike outting Jazz Chism Jr now J on the ground Donovan throws the first and a couple of quick outs now it's the short stop Anthony vul Anthony swing and a Fly ball in the air out towards right center field Walker makes a nice run a catch [Applause] well here we go top of the third scoreless game and now the Cardinal catcher Pedro pz now the right hander ready to go still no score there's a strike PES goes 6' one 25 years old and he was born in Venezuela that missed by a lot and that's ball one swinging a Miss as he was late one and two knocks that one away and we'll do it again the line and the pitch foul ball still a one and two count and the pitch gets a piece and stays alive another one two stays alive the pitch foul ball left side he'll see another gets a piece there we'll do it again right Ander kick deals two and two up Torres makes the grab two down back to the top of the lineup Mason wi will hit next well that was a pitch you got to crush unbelievable that he missed it right there I'm telling you he is going to be frustrating with himself until his next at back Soo he takes it himself to the bag and that'll do it back now with the bronos as we go to the last of the third and now here's the veteran DH DJ [Music] L and ball one to [Applause] lameu and it's even up and here it comes on the ground to the left throws the first in time lead off man retired here in the third here's Alex Vero no [Applause] left swing and a taer that rolls foul oh two now as he swings through it no ball two strikes and ball one and a ground ball to First Goldie the flip Edwardo is set down back to the top of the Yankee order here's glaver [Applause] Torres he swings and misses and it's nothing in war that's right there he threw it extremely well talk about just a ton of so tough to get that Barrel to blows the high knee past him that's a strike [Applause] out back for more from the Bruns start to the now it's going to be Alec burlson bur as he turns on the Rubber and with that good live arm delivers and that one fouled off now this is in the air down the line Stanton on the move and puts the squeeze on that one and a quick out number one here's Nolan Aron and he's already singled in this game oh he doesn't get the call one and0 highfly ball lifted in the air right field Stanton calls it in and there's two away now it's the second baseman Brendan Donovan bounce to the left side Jazz tosses the first and that is that here at new in the Bronx here's some real power at the plate juo PCH SW it a Miss it's and one I thought this was a fun note on Soto in 23 he hit home runs in Mexico Canada and the US I don't think it matters where stto plays he's going to hit home runs everywhere he goes got it by him for the K here is Aaron J scoreless here but now he's got to deal with a guy who's got some power got to be careful when you're talking about a hitter with this type of Slug and these type of home run totals right field down the line and that one slices F and there's a rock it into the Outfield so a man aboard now with one away couple of hits in a row for nice job driving that pitch the other way on a line you know HS they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field and it doesn't always transl into the game but right there it did and he did it perfectly [Applause] and the one in the air right center this is mashed way back and that's worth the price of admission it's two nothing one down now here's John Carlos Stanton [Applause] L and that's a base hit so they get a man aboard with a one out single third number 1 now the third basem Jazz Chisum Jr grounded out his first time up and the pitch a little bit low ball one [Applause] still only one out here in the inning instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended tied him up a little bit slightly up slightly in in the air right center this is mashed right and a gigantic blast it's their second home run of the inning and they boost their lead it's four nothing that's to third throw to first is in time here's DJ lameu looks routine but it hasn't been so easy for this club defensively this year and you got to make those routine plays behind a pitcher helps him to get more comfortable and move through this ball game well a really rough inning out there on the mound and uh this is one of those where you learn a lot about a guy's toughness and his ability to turn the page and keep pressing forward [Applause] swing at a miss and he struck him out inning over although plenty of Damage [Applause] Done back in New York here's Paul goldshmid the first baseman Paul goldshmid the pitch in the air left side berdugo gets under it makes the grab one away here's the left fielder Lars Newar 0 for one so far Nar and that one fouled off and a foul ball to the right side Torres he is saved and he beats the throw by a whisker run on at first with one gone and now the right fielder Jordan Walker and a foul ball Here Comes thean fought off foul o and two now battling here as he fouls it away that's foul off to the right side keeps the ab going kicks andand deal swings through that one it's a strike out and here's the catcher Pedro PES he was a strike out victim his first [Applause] time sharp grounder that's through for a base H throw and it gets away went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he can handle timing on the swing was good able to shoot the ball up the middle didn't square up as much as he probably would have but that's a good approach paying off number 11 stands in here tried to hold back his swing there but went [Applause] around he's got it and that is out number three [Music] we head to the bottom of the F now the left fielder Alex fugo Fett Back To Work Sharp grounder that's through for base Hill so now back to the top of the order up they go with one of their more experienced arms in this spot Sunny gray and he's been really shutting down Hitters from the right side of the plate this year not a lot of hard contact not a lot of hits period so the batting order turns over glabber Torres stepping in now for the Yankees and that's in there for strike one when you're taking your lead over there at first you got to be very careful this guy on the mound's got a good pickoff move right-handed reliever and that one is inside Verdugo gets his lead at first with nobody out [Applause] righty delivers lays out but he can't squeeze it gets it there in time though and that's out number one on a tough play wato now struck out on just three pitches last time hard hit down the line and left that's a fair ball and it's getting into the corner run from second scores as they add on it's five nothing not in time it's a double well done drives in the Run show a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way didn't get jumpy didn't try to pull the ball he let it get deep took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit judge the batter now as he swings and misses for strike one well in terms of hitting rocket home runs judges near the top of that list only John Carlos ston has hit more with greater exit velocity than judge look out though sh is quickly climbing those charts BS it away for the out well baseball can be cruel can it I mean sometimes it gives and sometimes it takes away he did everything right on that swing but he's got nothing to show ground ball Goldie he takes it himself to the bag and that'll do it all right we go to the top half of inning number six and here's the St Louis lead off man Mason wi the rander back to work Swang in a line drive base hit out of the center field and the lead off man aboard so now here's the Cardinals designated hitter Alec burlson lifted in the air now the left side and it stays [Applause] Fair throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out now Nolan oranado next up for the Cardinals the corner and that's strike one you know these cards as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate they've been chasing pitches outside the Zone all game and it's led to some frustrating moments they've been fooled quite a bit today kicks and fires spoils the two strike pitch and he'll see another going two now Swang and a miss struck him out and that's the first out here's the second base Brendan Donovan Donovan swing in a Miss as he was out front that time fights it off he'll see another here's the 02 and a foul ball he stays alive left hand batter waights kn that one away and we'll do it again line to right and that'll be a base hit around third the throw in it's off the mark and he [Applause] scores puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI just a solid swing right there caught it out front and ripped it into the outfield for the base hit those always feel great and it's fou away swinging a miss and two now oh and two and they'll do it again the Cardinals with a chance to get back into it and we're in the top half of the six swing and a miss struck him out and there are two outs here's the left fielder LS Nar one for two that's in there that's strike one burlson the runner at third Donovan on a first with two now and a bat like this is almost over as it begin this one swung on and hit well way back there and that one is gone he'll touch him all and they throw three on the board it's 54 so two away with nobody on now it's the right fielder Jordan Walker and first offering is fouled off and a pitch on the ground right side tosses to First and they're happy to just get off the field after that frame and we're back leading off John Carlos Stanton here comes a pitch St measures 6 in 34y Old vet and he was a second round pick back in 2007 the2 F ball down the line this has got a chance and it is foul and the right-hander deals that one's upstairs ball one and that's ball [Applause] one and another ball that one is absolutely Bel that's back there all here and they add a run it's 64 here's the third baseman Jazz Chisum Jr first pck swinging always exciting to see a lad off home run in an in kind of gets the offense fired up and you start to expect a big inning and the 01 and a swing in Miss 02 going to count one and two it's a good take and a ball in two strikes gets a piece and stays alive leftand hitter Waits Now One Missed nobody on nobody out here in the bottom of the six cut on and Miss struck him out and that's the first out nice recovery after giving up number 11 and next for New York Anthony v v that's towards Center under it makes a catch for the out and now it's DJ lameu digging in the designated hitter DJ La Mayu that to right Walker gets under it brings it in and the inning is over back here in New York top of inning number seven and now the catcher comes up to him Pedro pus strowman back to work foul ball there [Applause] this one in the air sto gets under it makes the grab and there's one away and now the center fielder 11 Victor there's a strike one out base is empty up the middle collected by Torres close play but in there just Elite level speed on display right there he needed every bit of it and now let's see if they force him action with good on the Bas wind swings through it for strike one these guys definitely looking for big swing of the bat right here try to close that Gap but you know at the very least if you could find a way to manufacture that from first it feels like it's really important at getting back into this ball G here comes the throw into third now so Runners at the corners and one out couple of singles back to back you'll often hear the phrase short to it long through it and that's a great example of it right there got the Barrel in The Hitting Zone early squared it up with the well time swing and came away with a beautiful Line Drive in the center [Applause] field hi High Fly ball down the left field line squeezes it here comes the runner from third the throws offline he's Sav 65 back within a run now here is Nolan arado one for three fouled off he was late typically The Outfield defense would play a little bit deeper just to keep the ball in front make sure that runner on first doesn't come all the way around to score and tie this ball game up and the swing to miss down on strikes and that is [Music] that we're back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seven JoJo Romero he's been so good against lefties and stepping in for the Yankees Alex Verdugo the [Applause] leelo as the Lefty gets to work and a big swing and a miss kind of really need to hang in there with that front side against this left-handed breaking ball back up the middle in a base hit so run a board to start the inning that's backto back singles for him I could watch base hits like that all day long and so could every hitting coach in the league just nice line drive into center field Gaber Torres up to the plate and a foul ball left side nobody out runner at [Applause] first that one almost got [Applause] him H hard that gets through throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out all over that one right there that was one of those swings feels like you're swinging aluminum bat it jumped off so hard squared it up and he went screaming at 108 milph and there's a foul [Applause] ball looking for some insurance or as our friends down in the South would say insurance no matter how you say it we know what you mean he was looking to come up with the shutdown inning and off to a shaky start inside and he had him one two and he ends up hitting him with a pitch Here Comes Aaron judge golden opportunity right here hit's got some good opposite field power what I like about something being hit to the right side into the Outfield is that the base runner at second has a very good and canine whether or not he can score on that base [Applause] hit and fou off you need a strike out and you need a ball perhaps on the ground for a double play or get yourself a popup something but you got to make some pitches but if he can swing and a miss struck him out huge strike out there now here's the Yankees cleanup hitter Austin Wells he's already HED in this game swings and misses one the last thing he wants is to hit the ball on the ground but I wouldn't expect many pitches up in the zone they'll be pitching on the ground could be two the throw is second the double PL ends the inning and might have saved the game for them back in the BRS stepping in Brendan Donovan G the pitch swing a Miss that's strike one so into his eigh in of work now on the M despite some rough patches well he's had to battle and there were some times where I thought he was going to throw in the towel but he stayed out there he kept competing and he's gotten himself pretty deep into this one looking to get the tying run on base he fouls it off will do it again well with the big lead they can aford to let him keep rolling out there anytime it's safe for that starter up this ball well hit left center field and that splits the Gap judge hustles it back in as the tying run is forced to stop at second he was all over that one that pretty much split the Zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them pay now it's gold up to the plate first pitch doesn't find the zone so the tying run at second late swing fouled off as a pitcher you know the runner on second is ready to push things with his speed a base hit it's probably going to be a big run so oh now this ball gets down coming home here's the throw but it's offline he will score well we're starting over again all tied up solid swing from start to end on time with everything really good balance nice extension and he made it out front for the line drive knock drops into the globe and there's one down and up next for St Louis Jordan Walker Oh for three with two ground outs and a strike out walk there's the strike one away tie game goahead runs stands it first comes up empty that's strike two into Center he's got it two away now so now a pinch H for the Cardinals Ivon Herrera big spot for him here that one not close ball one swung on belted that's back and it's gone and they lead it it's 86 here's the center [Applause] fielder swing and a miss strike one no balls one [Applause] strike already three runs across in the frame and we're in the for the eight got him looking and he didn't like the [Applause] call now into the game Jose fine he'll play second also entering the game Ivon Herrera he takes over behind the plate and now it's John Carlos Stanton he's already homered here in this [Music] one and the pitch little Chopper rolls foul the Yankees looking to Rally and he deals hammers that one deep left field and forget it a massive home run his second home run of the game it's 87 Jaz Chisum Jr stepping in now for the [Applause] Yankees there's a strike oh and one [Applause] the pitch that one pulled foul holding on to a one-run lead here the bottom half of the eighth [Applause] inning swing and a ground ball out to short wind fires across the D one gone to the bottom of the Anthony vul stepping in now for the Yankees go for three with two fly outs and a ground out this one smoked out to left out of here he powers that one out of here second home R to the inning it's 88 now on the B Kyle Ley he doesn't get a lot of stri comp to so he relies on getting that and the defense work behind they'll have to be their toes with on the ball up to the plate steps DJ lahu oh for three a fly out a ground out and a strike out that misses the zone and that is ball one one down base is empty highfly ball out towards left field n on the Move heading back up against the wall and brings it in Alex F stepping in now for the Yankees such a confidence boost for a relever to come into the ball game and get the first hitter he faces just makes everything slow down a little bit and then from there can really settle in swing and a miss and that strike two no balls two St got him swinging inning over and welcome back to and now the short stop Mason [Applause] wi and a pitch and that one fouled off it's good speed at the top of the order here you want to get it on see if you can get a stolen base maybe get around the bases and pick up a run and the pitch that ball is foul and the pressure is building out to Center judge getting an angle on it makes the catch and there's one gone as good as he's seeing the ball out of the pitcher's hand you cannot hang a breaking ball right there lucky it stayed in The ballark Swinging a drive deep right field that one back there and it's off the wall but foul that one on ripped brings it in that's out number two now up for St Louis Nolan arado great swing of the right there trying to get on as that goad run he just wasn't able to find a hole inside corner and that's called the [Applause] strike strike two the count in this situation will keep a close eye on his approach in the air out towards right Cent Danon on the move and that is that back at Yankee Stadium bottom nine now it's the second baseman Gaber Torres the wine of the pitch and that is in for a strike and one 0 and one and that one fouled off the W to kick the pitch keeps the back going with a foul ball definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside really think the outer half is open on the ground to third over to Goldie and glaver Torres retired here's one be a great defense you have to deliver consistently doesn't matter how many highlight real plays you make if you can't execute the small stuff just like we saw rolled softly but that goes [Applause] foul B is empty one away we're in the last half of the ninth inning got him swinging for the K chase the fast up the ladder for strike three and now picked number 99 Aaron judge this guy with light Tower power and that one hammered that's back that one HS against the fence it's a two out double and the winning run is at second base first pitch swing in went up there with a plan to be aggressive he somehow got to that outside pitch and pulled it hard into the Outfield not exactly what you're supposed to do with that kind of but you wouldn't know it by how the ball came off his back towards right center field trying to get to it can't get there to slow to get after it in comes the winning run and they walk it up you know he had to feel the pressure winning run on second base found a way to make solid contact and the winning run comes
