put my a on the line all right wait a minute I got a set weekly goals my bad I don't even know about that set weekly goals why don't you guys what kind of goals rush for 20 yards weekly goals I could do that no turnovers and can't promise that because I'll be slanging it with no regard because my teammates be mad at me but not Cooper cups me and Cooper cup y yeah that's my gu Co Cooper cup and puka Nas today from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey it's week game team on the NFL on EA Sports [Applause] so out come the Rams now for their first possession and a look at a guy definitely got a little razzled Dazzle to him can do it with his arm or his legs they're mobile QB I think his task in this game is really simple eliminate the turnovers he threw two interceptions last week I can't believe I led with that because he had three touchdown passes so there's a lot of good that did but he's got to take care of the ball better the ball has to go to guys wearing the jerseys that they're wearing this week not the opposition here's Joe Mixon as they start on the ground and he'll take this ahead for about four second down coming up you talk about this Jets defense they're a unit that enters play way down number 28 in the NFL right now gets the Run stopping the Run that's been an issue for them all season long aren't you glad you're coaching the defense right now I'm very glad they said that they've seen it in doses but very very small doses yeah you've got to be consistent it's down in and down out being able to play it understand what you have to get done and finally stop some people put them on the ground out of the gun now on third down eluding the pressure right and he'll just toss it away so he throws it away and that brings up fourth down their first third down try of the game clearly something was off in the execution of that play good news they've got a whole game left to clean that up and start clicking on those key damn it stop [Applause] this Mixon with a first down carry and the stiff arm made it a pretty little run not a huge gain but a nice chunk of yardage here now second and [Applause] four they'll stay on the ground Mixon again and he'll be taken down at the 46 yd line nine yds the pickup there and it's a first down [Applause] from the gun a give to Mixon and not a whole lot of room to operate there on the first down run he gets maybe three and the Rams at 6 and 10 on the year they come in Losers of two straight so try to turn things around here and you just mentioned two straight and when you're talking about two games that's nothing to panic about they feel like they've been a little bit unlucky in the last couple this is a club is more than capable turn things around and I expect him to play really well here this def for the Jets they were excellent last week in the win over the Chargers and what I saw on film was a nearly Unstoppable pass rush five sacks last week plenty of hurries given up so now what do you do on offense you just max protect keep everyone in and run the ball or maybe just one or two receiver routes in order to try and keep your quarterback up right it's a pick up of six well they kept it simple there CD only needing the short gain to move the chain so they didn't want to go with a deep throw they just go with that safer shorter throw and B to convert nothing wrong with that at all partner check the box right make sure you pick up the first down off is getting established you're moving the ball you're not turning it over check check check they like what they're doing early in the game a good pick up there of 20 Ys and even though this is a top five rushing offense and we see this especially early in the game they're going to do their best to keep you honest they don't want you to get in the habit of stacking the box so that's a good throw there and able to come up with the first down this is caught and he's going to take this one in for a Rams touchdown Cooper C with a lucky number 13 touchdowns now on the year and the Rams will jump on top with a game's first score here this afternoon this is a crew they've come out flat their last two games both losses but just judging by the energy level they look different here early in that touchdown shows how yeah seems to me that that touchdown gets him off the treadmill cuz you know you you've been on the treadmill I've seen you work out you go forever and ever and it tells you you've gone somewhere but you really have you're in the same spot they've exchanged it for an escalator still got some hills to climb but they can get there these are good analogies I run outside sometimes wide open bro their quarterback in this offense heading back out to the field he was able to find Cooper cup for the touchdown on their previous drive see what they can do here first and 10 the drive will commence with a run by Mixon and not much to speak of call it a one y gain up to the 26 7 s our score after one the Rams with the football here to begin the second quarter as they're looking at a second down and nine to go again it's Mixon and he'll take this up to the 30 a gain of four when you find that kind of yardage you couldn't be more confident as a ball carrier and guess what you're going to go back and tell your offensive coordinator I'd like to keep carrying it thank you they'll need five on this play to move the sticks from the gun on third down mallister it's a short one here complete to his tight end and he is going to have a Rams first down he needed five he got it barely as it will officially go down as a gain of five yards mixing up the middle try to find a lane but instead he'll get back to the line of scrimmage and no more the linebacker CJ Mosley in on the stop as usual Mark of a good run defense linebackers making plays near the line of scrimmage absolutely nowhere to run there now he'll look to throw here on second and 10 that'll be caught it's C and they'll get this down to around the 47 yd line he had the touchdown earlier this one's going to get him a first down and as a quarterback you always want to exploit gaps in the defense and he finds one here Crossing route working from right to left across the field but once you get Defenders going in the wrong direction it is awfully hard for them to Pivot back and you end up getting the first down just a yard on the first down carry so it's second and nine out of the gun a give to Evans they'll get only a couple down to the 44 just not a whole lot of room to operate there carry no not at all they did a really nice job staying in their proper places and not allowing any lanes to open [Music] up this will be the eighth play of the drive it's third and seven back to throw mallister escaping the pressure right and a catch right side by Evans and this one goes nowhere losing yardage on the play back at the 46 call it a loss of two there on the play and it'll be fourth down the Rams offense now they get set and head back onto the field so Charles the season winding down the playoffs obviously not in their future as they look ahead to the off SE what spots do they maybe need to fill I think that they like guy who's calling the plays and throwing the ball I think that he's a pretty good player need some help I think on the perimeter though help him out with receivers because I think if he gets an upgrade there his play gets that much better too for Cooper off the play fake mallister and that'll be incomplete took a pretty good shot as he tried to pull that one in couldn't hang on third down so much about defending the pass as being able to be right there the moment the ball gets to the receiver and he was right in his HP pocket helping force that incompletion they give to Mixon to try to pick it up and this is not going to be enough was in search of two Y and only got halfway there [Applause] the offense for Los Angeles returns to the field they'll have very good starting field position here as they try to break our tie [Applause] inside hand off to Mixon and he stopped right at the 25 after a gain of five if you're a coach you'll absolutely take that run every time on first down because it really set you up to go in a number of directions here on second so from the 25 this is second and five again it's Mixon and this time not as successful as he'll get back to the line of scrimmage and no more no gain on the play that time and they'll look to convert on what'll be a third and four defense able to get there swarm to the football zil zero NADA there for the offense Charles yeah it really was an example of good team defense wasn't everyone handled their responsibilities and they held them to no gain they were handed great starting field position on this drive but now they face a third and four looking to throw mallister it's a short one here complete to the tight end and he is going to have a Rams first down as they're able to get the third down conversion many different ways to create space but on that play he did it with that big wide body of his didn't get a whole lot of yardage on the play but it did what it was supposed to pick up a first down on First and 10 mallister flush to his right this will be caught just inside the 10 and the Rams are going to be set up with a first and goal coming up as they get him down at the 6yd line they'll run here with Evans and he gets halfway there from the six to the three on a gain of three and they went to a nickel defense and that's a surprise this close to the goal line cuz ordinarily you use the back end of The End Zone the sidelines as extra Defenders and you want bigger people on the field to try and help against the run and the D not Ying much there he's only going to get a yard to about the two his path became similar to almost running a stretch play didn't it trying to find a crease anywhere to put his foot in the ground and cut back it just never materialized they'd really like to make the short field pay off we'll see if they can but this is third and goal Evans boy a good surge defensively it'll depend on the mark but I'm not sure he got there only a yard that time so now a decision to be made here on Fourth [Applause] andal I'm coming back out there go [Applause] in motion is Hardy they'll run with Mixon and he didn't get there knocked backwards to the two yd line Mixon unable to find the goal line on fourth down and the Jets are going to get the football back and defensively they were ready for that a fullon blitz on fourth down and they stop him short of the marker oh someone's got to feel really good about that and that's the defensive coordinator he dialed up a great run blitz wow the Rams offense ready to begin quarter number three well the first half very even I mean really in all facets this ball game tied Charles as we start the third quarter curious to see what the second half brings us certainly am I'm with you on that one and we all know a lot of coaches from the NFL all the way down to the peee level they love to spend it to their teams hey we're starting a brand new shorter ball game it's all even let's go out and sees it this is ours 49 yds rushing for him now in the ball game they'll come up now second and four from the 31 once again they run with Mixon and this carry not as productive he's swallowed up at the line of scrimmage calling no gain that time as it's going to leave him with a third and about three to go coming up here looking for three yard to pick up the first from the gun on third down mallister it's a short one here complete to his tight end and he is going to have a Rams first down as they're able to get the third down I got kick out of that one partner you and I talk often about trying to hide receivers in certain situations but a guy of his size can't really hide it but the tight end drag route definitely an effective way to sneak him across the formation for an easy completion and a first down backto back nice gains that one for 14 yds and another first another good carry there for the NFL second leading rusher and we've talked on air off air about his MVP candidacy make a case for him well I'm just going to tell you point blank it doesn't matter whether he's first or second or even third in the league in rushing yardage that's not the main deal it's how he gets those yards and the impact he has on his ball Club this could be the start of a nice stand from this defense now after getting walk backwards on this drive come through with another one here and you have them staring at a third and long and that puts the defense in a position to dictate to the offense on second down here's Mixon and down inside the 40 to about the 38 they get seven out of that so they're left with a third and three well this play sequence was really kind of called in Reverse incomplete pass on First and 10 nice run on second and 10 when probably everyone was expecting him to throw the football now if you're the defense what are they going to do on third down you're a little off balance and this is caught a spectacular onehanded grab there it's a first down his fourth catch of the game after having three in the first [Applause] half a hand off to Mixon and he can only manage to get a couple second and eight coming up well any Lane that might have been open there was closed pretty quickly and that was because the defensive front they won that battle at the point of attack at the line of scrimmage they used great leverage H their spot and stacked him up back to Mixon on second down yes sir and a hard work run here as he's got it inside the 20 down to the 17 first down Los Angeles there with a pick up of 14 yards although his reputation as a speedy Runner proceeds him it's always fun to watch him work it is eye opening isn't it because when you see him get the ball and just go in addition to that speed it helps out his blockers they don't have to hold blocks for long because he's just going to speed right past them Will McDonald there on the tackle well that's not a run that's going to make any of the Highlight tapes but they've been moving it well all game on the ground this another one that keeps them moving forward second and seven with our score tied at seven but they're planning to change that soon only question will they get three or six out of it open man right side is C complete they'll wind up getting just a yard out of it and third down and six to go simple drag rout here lined up out left and tried to work his way back across the field you probably saw me Twitch there partner because I think he wanted the ball a little bit sooner by the time he looked it in Defender was right on him the flood field goal would get him the lead but that's not what they're shooting for as they come up on third down now a shotgun snap as they'll look to throw and he's not able to get away back at the 22 Will McDonald gets in there to take him down that's their first time getting to the quarterback sack number one and you know wait a minute now here's the signal caller getting ready to lead this offense again how do you break down his game so far just the one touchdown pass [Applause] TI the other they begin with a run by Mixon and nothing much materializing there on the first down run he'll get a couple and that's it they suspected that it was a power play up the middle coming at them and boy were they right that defense got downhill in a hurry and limited them to just a couple on first down back to Mixon on second down and not much there at all maybe a yard up to the [Applause] 43 all right so they got that one Charles against the center let's remember how difficult it is for the center cuz remember he's got to snap the ball to put the play in motion and sometimes you got that big guy on your nose you got sometimes where he's coming at you at an angle it's a difficult job for him to snap the ball and then execute his block off play action [Applause] mallister throw left side complete to C and he gets this to the other side of Midfield across the 45 before going out that one covers 24 yds it's a first down a great job pulling that one in from a guy as we know who can really Blaze he's got a lot of speed and that speed can work for him so many different ways sometimes he just takes often goes and just runs past people sometimes you get people to back off so far that you can catch everything underneath plenty of shouts from this crowd as they watch the replay they want a challenge and they're going to get [Music] one did he keep those feet in bounds that's the question they've got to decide and I got to say watching it in real time it was awfully close yeah it certainly looked like a heck of a catch because he didn't appear to Bobble it which could complicate things but even with the benefit of Replay that's pretty tight now here's the [Applause] call oh [Music] no wow wow a tough situation to overcome here third and 17 back to throw mallister able to find the open man that's complete and he is going to have a Rams first down as they're able to get the third down conversion it's taking a while for this offense to get going a little creaky at the start but they're oiled up now a nice throw there and they're really putting together a good drive so injet territory now here's first and 10 the 47 Evans running straight ahead and he can only manage to get a couple second and eight coming up certainly a nice job there by the defense rallying to the football and getting him on the ground but I think the play gets made by the defensive front because if they can't get up field their job is to go ahead and get low almost get into a ball sometimes stack things up and make it difficult for the runner to find a hole off the boot leg mallister this is caught it's Hardy and that's going to be another first down as the tackle made at the Jets 30 that one good for 16 and the drive will continue the goal for any offense versus his own defense find the holes where guys are available and put the ball in the receiver before any Defender can step up and fill it they did it well there perfectly executed Crossing route and the result here a pick up of eight leaves him with two to go on second down running Lanes read a premium in the first half but he's able to find some room there and he's hoping that that's a precursor of a big second half Evans gets it again on second down and he'll get it down this time to the 17 a gain of five good enough for the first down not too many more ideal situations at second and two in order to try and pick up a first down they ran it and picked it up so from the 17 now here's a first and 10 and they'll go right back to Evans get there and he's going to take this one in for a Rams touchdown Zack Evans his seventh rushing touchdown on the year and the have taken the lead hard to argue with that being their best Drive of the game so far as they use the running game to get them into the end zone couldn't agree more partner prior to that drive they sputtered a little bit but it looks like they found the formula I would expect them to go back to that more and more as this game develops sorry mix we should have scored twice there he is the man taking the snaps under Center heading out for the next possession he's been pretty solid pretty consistent just the one touchdown pass but I think he's managed the game well no I would agree with you and that's what you're looking for out of your field leader making sure that you're playing well and not making any big mistakes often times that's how you're judged how big a mistake and when it occurs no inter so they'll like that I just want you to know you agreeing with me that's going to get me through this third and fourth quarter are you touched he's patting his heart boys and girls he's touched respect ball on the 30 now here's a second down and [Applause] n and as they come to the line they will not be able to get off another play as time has out on this third quarter you're watching the NFL on EA Sports they work now on second and nine keep ripping in motion is Hardy looking to throw on second down mallister over the middle that's haed by c a gain of eight there on the play and third and one now they like going to him in the slot he catches another one I think this comes Under The Heading of until they stop him why not go back to it he has something going really well great working relationship with the guy throwing the ball and they keep making the connection and he is going to have a Rams first down as they're able to get the third down conversion well it is our business to analyze what we saw out there and on that play I saw a defense staying in base not taking a chance not blitzing in a situation when they absolutely need the football back that's either a case of overthinking it or not thinking it through you do BL you have to be careful about where you're coming from or you just coming from all angles you have to be careful about where you're coming from obviously but at this stage you have to take a few chances as well so where did all that Running Room that he had in the first half go because it looks like it's drying up a little bit here someone made some adjustments it appears at least on this drive off the play fake mallister and that is incomplete force be down on him there he could not hang on it's third down even without a ton of pressure in his face it just shows how difficult it is to pick apart his own defense those guys are sitting back and they're not playing receivers as much as they're playing the eyes of the quarterback and when he delivers the ball they head to the line facing a third and seven following the incompletion on second down looking to throw mallister oh and look at this they get the turnover they needed it's intercepted and they'll set up shop right near Midfield at the 49 yd line oh and I saw the pressure coming out that just looked problematic hit him as he threw it and the interception ued let meom to the man this spot before he always talked about how much pressure is in the face of a guy and can he step into a throw and when you can't do that often yeah that's pretty much get the ball back oh here comes the field General leading his offense back out there for the next possession and it was his interception on the last drive that wound up leading to a game tying touchdown and somehow you can make this a positive though you know why game tied now so you're not protecting a lead so you're not playing that way you got to go get the lead again so maybe it loosens him up a little bit and allows him to go ahead and be a little more free in his play another carry for their leader and a good one it's crunch time they'll need him to continue to be productive in both the run and passing game in order for them to try and snatch a victory back to Mixon on first down and a 5yd gain gets him to the 42 oh that was a thing of beauty right there look at how quick those blockers fired off the line once the ball was snapped that was an o line on a mission all in syn and the defense is lucky that play only picked up five yards here's a second and five come on out of the shotgun they run with Mixon gets past onean and he'll get it into enemy territory just across Midfield at the 49 119 y rushing for him so far as his terrific season continues here well partner I know this type of running back I mean this size this intensity usually gets better as the game goes on I can just tell you from experience the first quarters oh you're eager you come running up the air I'm going to tackle this guy by the fourth quarter you're coming up and thinking about it and dline wearing down fourth quarter yeah that's not a guy they want to see consistently the coverage maybe too good that time as he breaks away for 19 with his legs and a first down well there you go save your best scramble of the day for a big time situation in the fourth quarter picking up the first you don't want to use it up early right you want to make sure you save it for that exact moment that key time and that's what he did although you and I both know it wasn't planned that way but what a nice job using his eyes scanning the field and realizing when it was time to exit the pocket and go so first and 10 now from the 30 now they'll switch it up here and look to throw oh he's got him in Wide Open complete and they do get him down but not before he's able to slip it inside the 5 y boy how about the speed with this off can get down the field it's Tak them no time at all to get down here and now they're set up with a first and goal on First and 10 it's Evans able to get a couple here Buton get AC as they around the one well Brandon we always know that once you score one touchdown without a doubt and so far today he's got one but was denied to get the second one oh and I don't think he got in he did not they Mark him short of the go line two runs in a row but only two y to show for it this jet defense so far Standing Tall they need another stop now third and goal they'll look to run with EV and this time he is in Zack Evans his second touchdown of the afternoon and the Rams answer back with a touchdown of their own to break our tie and take the lead here in the fourth and this is a time of game where offensive lines can really dictate a team's fortunes it's been a tough battle they've been out there for a long time but this was a question of who can wear down who yes sir now the Rams offense getting the football back right now clinging to a one score lead Charles and I think they try to eat some clock with Mixon and he's going to take this ahead for right around three yard but no more than that second down Brandon you know how many times we've done games and at the start of the fourth quarter we see both teams hold up the four fingers fourth quarter is ours well how about this drive you saw the four fingers for four minute offense and this offensive line has really hunkered down and establish themselves yeah this is where they say put the game on our shoulders will lead the way right no doubt about it and let me tell you if you're a running back all you want to do is get behind those Big Fellas have a little vision and find some space and a solid way to do that on the first play of the drive there a gain of three last play this time they double it and pick up six the battle in the trench is never more important than right now this is third and inches they'll try and run for this with Evans and he is going to have the first down and that is going to suck the life right out of this crowd fourth quarter down to the final two minutes and we've got a onore game so it's Rams football here as we get you reset they've got a first and 10 as they look to try and finish this one off Five Points of contact necessary at this stage as they'll run on first down and now we'll see a timeout used on defense as they stop it right out of the break with 157 to go in the ball game have to imagine this will be on the ground as well as they come up second and seven again a run with Evans strong run but he's coralled just beond 40 now the Jets going to use the second of their three timeouts that'll leave them with just one remaining in this fourth quarter of [Music] Play here's third and six operating from the gun mallister flushed out right that is caught and he'll go down but not before getting this inside the 30 the Jets going to go ahead and use their final timeout and they'll be disappointed to have to burn one there after giving up the first down and they'll indeed take a knee [Applause] on second down a run with Evans and he'll be brought down inside the 20 at the 19 this defense needs a big play of the worst way because so far they're not putting up much of a fight if they don't get a stop here soon this game could be over for them the Rams go Victory form as they take the knee [Applause] some good plays well this ball game was close throughout remember it was neck and neck at intermission neck and neck at the end but a great job to come in here in a tough environment Charles and get the victory yeah tough envir how about all the people we can hear shouting from their seats right below us partner they weren't real happy that their team didn't keep the home field how about how these visitors came in calm every step of the way even with all the pressure and found a way to get out of here with a win yeah sir so for the Rams it was too little too late as they finish off the regular season with a mark of seven and 10 and by just about all accounts not the type of year they were hoping to have meanwhile for the Jets they're going to kind of bottom out here to wrap up this very forgettable season at 3 and4 and it's fair to say wholesale changes will be forthcoming in the very near future so that'll do it for my partner Charles
