welcome back everyone to sec preview early season preview number four we've done alabama down arkansas done auburn and an alphabetical order that brings us next to the florida gators who florida gators fans on this channel i have tons of florida gators fans as subscribers i know because they're constantly active and they're constantly commenting and i post quite a bit of florida gator content i'd say but florida gator fans definitely one of the most beloved fan bases on this channel we love you florida fans the state of florida great people so gator fans for one thank you thank you thank you for your support of this channel i know you guys you guys georgia obviously south carolina because i'm a big south carolina fan we got some alabama fans on here too those are the main guys i would say but some really really i know we have some texas a m and other fans we have fans all over the sec but florida fans especially i want to give a huge thank out to gator nation because you guys rock preview that's what we are getting into today we're looking over the schedule and then we are going to go into early season wins losses and toss-up games for the florida gators this season also doing a short little recap of the 2020 season looking over the recruiting class for the florida gators and then also lastly just talking about the florida gators and i'm so happy that i'm doing this specific video now i'm filming this on what january the 31st and i was gonna film this last night i was just gonna film it last night as i did with the auburn video i posted the auburn video today when i'm filming this and i'm expecting to post this florida one on monday but i'm thankful that i didn't film it last night because there was just a huge huge pickup for the florida gators for the season and i'm sure you guys already know i'm gonna get into him a bit later but is a big name guy and i think a guy that will make absolutely huge impact for this florida gators offense especially after losing a very key piece of your offense i don't even know why i'm hiding the name you guys already know who it is of course it's eric gilbert after losing kyle pitts this season it's gonna be exciting we'll get into that later but before we get into the 2021 florida gators we have to talk about the 2020 florida gators which i picked them to win the east last year and guess what happened they won the east i could not have been more happy that i was right about that i knew that they were going to be a better team than georgia and i knew that this was the season for the florida gators to go out and do something special and they had their chance they had their chance to make the playoff just couldn't convert on some big games but let's get into it ole miss they beat ole miss first game of season who won't miss in my opinion was a really good team last year beat my south carolina gamecocks then they lost week three to texas a m which was really a killer this season i wouldn't say it was an absolute season killer but it stung it definitely left a mark for the florida gators especially how in the end if florida would have hung on to that lsu game if you go in and win that texas a m game if you win the texas a m game and the lsu game and you lose to bama in the sec championship especially by how close the game was i think florida makes the playoff easily so this game definitely left a mark in that schedule then you go beat missouri beat georgia in the big game in jacksonville that was a really fun game to watch an amazing offensive performance by kyle trask and the rest of the florida gators uh you beat arkansas you beat vanderbilt you beat kentucky you beat tennessee and then the all the infamous the infamous sorry about that the infamous marco wilson oh boom chuck of the shoe i i'm sorry i had to do that to you florida fans i'm sure that that play has been engraved in your memory the last couple months the last month or so it hasn't been that long but it feels like so long ago now we're only january 31st probably i'm posting this on february 1st this was what early late early december late late november something like that that was the best game of the season in my opinion but i was cheering for florida in that game i was i wanted the sec championship to have the magnitude that i thought it was going in and that game really stung for me who's just a fan of college football watching it i can't imagine how florida fans felt after that the alabama game alabama was actually they were the best team to ever play alabama this season was the florida gators the offense matched up pretty well they were able to score a ton of points the final score was 52-46 you lose by six points to one of the greatest football teams that college football has ever seen so that just shows you there that this team did have the capability to do something special in the playoff they had a right to be there they just couldn't put together the puzzle pieces to get into that playoff which i think really sucked because you would have much rather watch this florida alabama game again than any of the alabama games in the playoffs like alabama notre dame wasn't a good game alabama ohio state wasn't anything special yes clemson ohio state i took rather pride in watching that game i had a very very good time because you know i'm a south carolina fan i'm not a clemson fan so watching that was really fun for me but there was no close games or anything like that there was no real competition in the playoffs this year if florida would have got in and you would have seen another game like that i think that that would have been a lot more satisfying than putting in notre dame don't get me it was terrible i didn't think notre dame should have got in but you know it is what it is it happened oklahoma finished up the season against oklahoma you have tons of opt-outs i don't think any of you like you had pits out you had tony out you had grimes out you had a ton of guys out most of your offense was out you still have kyle trask but kyle trask had probably his worst game of his career that night in the cotton bowl against oklahoma i can't remember he threw like three picks in the first half or something like that and you bring in emery jones he actually did pretty well against oklahoma in that game but oklahoma pretty much ran over florida in that game it wasn't a very good game oklahoma takes that one and the gators finished the season eight and four eight and four for the florida gators let's get into looking at their schedule for this season why not let's get into it let's just take a look at the schedule because first off 20 21 schedule you start off at home versus florida atlantic then you go to raymond james stadium and take on the south florida bulls then you go at home versus alabama september 18th that's gonna be a blockbuster game cbs game for sure i'm pretty sure cbs is still there this year i know the whole contract thing just fell through for cbs but i still think that they're around for a couple more seasons tennessee september 25th at home kentucky you're away at kroger stadium for october the second then you're back home versus vanderbilt on october the 9th then you're in death valley lsu for october 16th then you got your bi week on the 23rd just before the big game in jacksonville florida against none other than the georgia bulldogs as always that game is in jacksonville you got the big cocktail party on october the 30th then you're away in columbia south carolina on november the 6th you're at home versus samford on november the 13th then you're away in mizzou for november november the 20th and then you're at home november 27th against your in-state rivals the florida state seminoles and then a possible i think that there's a decent chance for florida to be circling that december fourth date in the sec championship in atlanta again it is back at somewhat of a regular time this season i know the one this year was like december 19th way out of whack cause of covert and everything but you know you got to do what you got to do it's good to see that sec championship back in early december could be a possibility for florida so let's get into the guys that they lost this season because it's obvious you could look at some of the guys kyle trask heisman finalist amazing quarterback for florida this season you look at the offensive weapons he had kyle pitts i think in my opinion one of the best players in all of college football last season definitely the best tight end he was an unbelievable player just i i'm a big carolina panthers fan as long as the as well as the chicago bears i'd say i'm a bigger bears fan but i'm a big carolina fan panthers fan nonetheless and kyle pitts is the guy i want on the panthers next year especially if they go grab like watson or whoever it is before taking the quarterback in the draft like if we get our quarterback before the draft and don't draft anyone cow pits is circled a hundred percent for me canarious tony they lose travon grimes they lose uh pierce they lose on the defensive side who you lose i'm pretty sure marco wilson has gone the defense it's more the offense that your florida fans have to be happy about marco wilson losing uh leaving it's more the offense that is really going to sting for florida i'm predicting kind of i don't want to say a massive downfall i don't want to see it it will be as bad as lsu did but you see the offensive weapons that lsu lost that one season back in 2019-2020 and you look what florida just lost and everything you can kind of fit the puzzle pieces together and be like maybe this will start happening maybe something like that can happen i don't think it'll be as big of a drop off as going from national championships all the way down to lsu having a crappy season like they did last year florida's still got talent florida's still got talent don't get me wrong we're going to get into their players this season but it worries me the guys that they lost they were some once in a lifetime talent on that florida football team and it scares me it does i'm gonna be honest so let's take a look at the predicted starting lineup for the florida gators who are you gonna have in for the florida gators this season emery jones at quarterback you could have another recruit coming in a freshman i don't know i'd say that that's unlikely but we'll get talking about him in a bit later emery jones saw him in bits of that oklahoma game he got the bus moving for a bit there in that uh cotton bowl like he was able to get some juice back into that florida sideline and now i thought he played pretty pretty well pretty well he's a mobile quarterback he can run the ball emery jones i wouldn't be too upset going from kyle tras to emery jones because in my opinion he looked fine he's i don't i'm not saying that he's going to go up and have heisman numbers like kyle trask did last season but honestly emery jones i don't feel that bad about him like i think that he'll be pretty decent for the gators next season at running back you'll have naik one right or demarcus bowman one of those two guys you could have rb1 rb2 just have both of those guys being the top guy and then or one of them will break out and you'll just have him as the main guy who knows yet what surprised me when i looked at this going from the guys that florida lost in the receiving core like you lose pits you'll lose grimes and you lose tony who were three really really good receivers i look at this wide receiver core that they are gonna have probably for this season i actually don't think that they're that bad i don't think that the drop-off is as bad as a lot of you would have think it's still bad you're still losing some great talent but the guys who got under i don't think that it's like too much to keep you up at night and like make you panic and pull your hair out because i think the guys that you got under those three receivers that i just mentioned or whatever is still gonna help a lot a lot for this florida team malik davis jacob copeland and justin shorter you also got zippier in there he you'll see him rotating in and out at the wide receiver position those three guys those four guys i i think that they're pretty good these especially jacob copeland he was a decent receiver for florida last year even with the guys above him he had shorter he got he got some action in in the cotton bowl i wish he was a bit better i expect him to be a bit better in the cotton bowl but still he's got the talent to be a good wide receiver and malik davis those three guys i honestly feel like florida at the receiving core will not be as bad of a drop off as most people think and i think that one key about that the receiving core that i haven't mentioned yet is at tight end first of all you got gamble at tight end who i think he's a lot better than most people think but you just landed one of the best tight end recruits if not the best tight end recruit of all time eric gilbert if you've ever watched this kid's tape this kid eric gilbert is something special and i think it was absolutely the right move for eric gilbert to go to a place after they lose kyle pitts you've seen the type of tight ends that florida's been able to develop this was the right move for the kid and he is something special just go and turn on any of his lsu highlights any of his high school highlights i guarantee you this is something for florida fans to be excited about yes it's only a tight end you're not bringing in some five-star quarterback you're bringing in a five-star tight end but this kid if you just saw how good kyle pitts was last year this kid is around the same athleticism this it's a pure athlete eric gilbert is a pure athlete and it's something that's going to change the dynamic of how your offense works and i think that that is something to really really be excited for if you're a florida fan looking at the defense you keep some good guys around like you got gravon dexter still you got brenton cox still you got you're adding some in the recruiting class which i'm going to touch on in a second zachary carter at the end you got miller and divet at linebacker quarterbacks you got elim hill and then safeties you've got dean and torrence defense is what florida needs to improve on it's nothing special it's nothing to write home about but yet in college football what is there to write home about in terms of defense the last couple seasons because it's been an offensive powerhouse you just need if florida is going to have the same offense or want to go in with the same offensive identity that we're gonna go in and we're gonna score fast and we're gonna put up 40 plus points each and every single game defense you just got to make those one or two or three big stops a game to be able to win it's not you need to expect to get to force three notes every single drive that's not how sec football works anymore we're not in that era we're not in that late 2000s era anymore defense is just there to get the turnovers you need some kind of turnovers you need to be able to create plays to get turnovers because that's huge and you just need it you don't need to be a team that will force about seven three and outs a game like it just doesn't happen anymore especially when you go up against teams like alabama you just got to get the stops at the right moment in the right time in the fourth fourth quarter and your team is looking like in pretty good position to win as long as your offense is at that level so florida defense yes it's nothing special but the dynamic of the game has changed let's take a look at this recruiting class for the florida gators one four star at five star and you got about 12. what is it 12 4 stars for the florida gators florida finishes 13th overall in the rankings for this season and honestly florida i think this is a pretty good class obviously florida's expectation they'd love to be in that top 10 mark they are definitely capable of being a top 10 team and recruiting every season but looking at me a south carolina fan who is dead last in recruiting right now even worse than vanderbilt i look at this class and i'm like wow this is an amazing class so take that into perspective jason marshall coming in at quarterback cornerback second best quarterback in the nation five star coming out of miami florida you're filling up the defensive holes i think that's a big big picture of looking at this recruiting class you're filling up with a lot of defensive talent you got corey kohler in at safety four-star safety and then the other guy when i was talking about you see emery jones at quarterback maybe you see this freshman come in i don't know rio wilson from cartersville georgia four-star quarterback he is what the sixth best dual threat quarterback in the nation i wouldn't say that the possibilities are going to be like 50 that he becomes the start of the season but who knows if jones gets injured or anything i think that you got a pretty decent backup back there especially dual threat quarterback someone who can still run the offense that you want to be able to run with emery jones which i think is really good jeremiah williams defensive end you got tariq sapp defensive end you're bringing in you're all of your top guys for the most part you got a cornerback you got a safety and you got two defensive ends your top four players in this recruiting class are all on defense and they're all in holes that you need so i think that that is the key takeaway for this florida recruiting class for the 2021 season wins losses and toss-ups let's get into that let's start talking about that because that's something that i've done for every single team and it's something that's really interesting interesting for me where i look ahead and be like okay what games do i feel like will be automatic wins for florida what games are too early to call right now like i'd say 50 50 games 60 40 games even 70 30 games i put in toss-ups because who knows there's still a long way to go this season before the season gets kicked off and i don't want to make any crazy assumptions right now and put games that i don't feel comfortable putting in wins in there and then you have automatic losses for the florida gators so let's get into that first of all starting off with the win category i think this changed a lot as well as the what was it the arkansas one i think it was this shifted a lot from my initial my initial one that i made and i just started moving things around and everything and this is what i ended up with so automatic wins florida atlantic at south florida tennessee vanderbilt sanford and florida state you got florida state you got tennessee and i think you got vanderbilt and sanford and florida atlantic i think the only away one here is that south florida one tennessee is a dumpster fire right now if i do say so they're bad it's bad there i think the fact that they come to florida just makes it even better for florida i think that that's an automatic win for florida vanderbilt's vanderbilt they should win that game fau and south florida you're playing group of five teams that should be a win samford sanford's an fcs school or maybe division two i'm not sure but i'm guessing their fcs should be an easy win and then florida state at home it's florida state florida state's not that good anymore i think florida state should definitely be a win and you should definitely win against your in-state rival you look at the toss-up games for instance kentucky away lsu away south carolina away and missouri away now you might just be like no you're just throwing all of our away games in the toss-up category lsu is a very very tough team to call because they have the talent to be a good team i still think they do are they going to be a good team this year especially that you go to death valley if this game was in florida like it was last year even though lsu won last season i might be able to put that in the wing category i just now especially that it's in death valley i can't call that kentucky i had that as a win originally i started to think about it people have kentucky being really really good this season i don't i'm never high on kentucky i feel like that's the team that i'm definitely the most hard on in the sec but again you're going to kroger field and kentucky's a tough team to call this year so i put that in the toss-ups missouri actually was a very very good team last year i don't know if any of you guys paid attention but missouri was a team that slipped under the radar definitely one of the best or underrated teams in the sec last season that's definitely a toss-up since that's in columbia missouri and you might think i'm biased for this but honestly even though i said like you look at i think lsu and missouri right now are those 50 50 60 40 games i'd say kentucky south carolina or 70 30. so don't get too offended that those are in the toss-ups i'd say if i had one more category and i'd say upset alert i'd say kentucky and south carolina would be in that upset alert i wouldn't necessarily say it's a 50 50 game more of an upset alert but since i don't have that fourth category in the toss-ups i go against south carolina you're in south carolina florida south carolina games in south carolina the last couple seasons have been really really good ball games i remember the last time they came to columbia florida was the ninth seat and it was like tied or south carolina was winning going into late third quarter or fourth quarter something like that it was an amazing game i was at the second last uh florida in south carolina game south carolina came out with the win there south carolina florida games even the one this year wasn't a blowout south carolina if they would have managed the clock better will muschamp was terrible in that last eight minutes of the game i'm not saying south carolina would have won but you would have seen the score as a seven point final seven point difference as the final if we could manage the clock losses automatic losses alabama and georgia florida fans are not gonna be happy about that georgia one i feel really good about georgia this season i think that they're gonna be a really really good football team and there's no home field advantage you're in jacksonville i feel really good about georgia and i just feel like if anyone's take the least amount of step back i think that is definitely the georgia bulldogs and i just feel like florida offensively on the offensive side of the ball have taken such a big step back that i feel really good about georgia so i marked that one out as a loss but that's kind of a toss-up loss alabama even though that game is in florida i feel really good about alabama this season and you might be like no wait up if you watch my alabama video i put florida in the tossups for alabama but i said i put a disclaimer out because i didn't want to just put every single team in the win category for alabama i think that's just stupid i put the two most likely teams to beat the alabama crimson tide this season are the florida gators and the texas a m aggies as for the schedule so alabama and georgia you could say that those are possible upsets for the florida gators but i think i do need to mark them down in the lost category i just do not feel like the offense will be at the same level as last season in their terms competing with alabama even though alabama's kind of gone through the exact same thing where you're flushing out the offense the talent that alabama's bringing in still and the talent that alabama still has is next level their depth on their team is insane alabama i feel really good about georgia i feel really good about it so i had those two as losses so early look into the future and looking at where i have the florida gators looking at this season i may go i think this might be my plan is in you'll look at like june or july i'll do my game by game prediction for the schedule mark it as a winner loss so that's where you see me starting to call these toss-up games and everything i don't know what's gonna happen yet still a long way away but for now for the early predictions things could change things could change i think the air gilbert move huge for florida and that will help a lot on the offensive side of the ball but those were my early
